    Alright grab your dice and pull out your character sheets, because we're about to play an old fashioned game of Advanced D&D!

    Before we begin, I'll lay down some ground rules:
    1. /tg/ will control one character, who be given a backstory and once character creation is finished. Once play begins, /tg/ will have control of his personality and actions.
    2. Actions will be decided on a democratic basis. First idea to get three votes wins, and will be acted upon.

    I can't remember the pally qualifiers in 1e, but in 2e it took a 17 cha, which we don't got. Bard is a special snowflake thing you get after ridiculous multiclassing into several different things.

    Bard is way the hell out of reach. To wit:

    To become a bard, a human or half-elf had to begin with very high ability scores: Strength 15+, Wisdom 15+, Dexterity 15+ and Charisma 15+, Intelligence 12+ and Constitution 10+. These daunting requirements made bards one of the rarest character classes.

    Bards began the game as fighters, and after achieving 5th level (but before reaching 8th level), they had to dual-class as a thief, and after reaching 5th level as a thief (but before reaching 9th level), they had to dual-class again to druid. Once becoming a druid, the character then progressed as a bard.

    Oh the dice gods have smiled kindly on us. My original DM used to regale me with tales of his 3 high school years of playing 1e, when only 10% of all characters survived to 5th level. His group stopped naming anyone until they reached 5th level, in fact.

    He only ever had 2 wizards out of ~30 make it past 1st level. Both went on to glorious futures eerily similar to current 4e epic destinies.

    Unfortunately, it seems your old home has fallen on hard times, and is struggling to secure it's continued existence. Chum, while never the most moral or even humane, has since vowed to use his dashing good looks and sly skills to help protect his old home by sending them enough money to keep them afloat. After taking a fair share of the profits to keep you alive and healthy, of course.

    Taking up the life of a murder hobo, or Adventurer as you prefer to be called, Chum has scoured the lands, looking for the next big score to keep himself with loose women and orphans a roof over their head. The latest rumors of wealth and glory have brought you to the castle before you. Here, it is said, an ancient line of nobles partook in blood sacrifice, and made pacts with sinister creatures from the shadows to amass their riches and power. In the end though, their own greed and vices tore the family apart, where they were lost overnight durign a terrible storm. It is said, in the keep of the castle, the last survivor of the family, the only pure soul of the whole lot, sits and weeps for the kin it has lost, and keep watch of their earthly goods and last possesions should they ever return. Never one to be scared off by superstitions when there was a chance of gold, you've arrived at the lost castle after dark, intent on robbing the castle blind. After all, what could happen?
