    http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/14268298/

Kerrigan has gotten VoidGate to agree to assist us in destabilizing the Protoss, at least for one mission (we get the feeling that success will bring more cooperation, but it's a bunch of crazy robots. We can't be sure). Kerrigan thinks the best course of action would involve us attacking Aiur or the Protoss fallback position on Ash'Arak, and VoidGate's ships riding in like big damn heroes. Of course, if we have a better idea, she's willing to listen.

The Confederate news organizations (those that are left, anyway) are abuzz with controversy over whether to believe Kingston's claim of ridding the Koprulu Sector of the Zerg infestation on Goryu, or the ZergTV exclusive showing actual footage of Zerg destroying the world coupled with claims of a separate hive-mind entity. One program features a round-table group of pundits arguing over whether the Zerg's brazen display of force using Protoss carriers implicates them in the Protoss war. Another questions whether Protoss, Zerg, or this mysterious new hive-mind could be behind the radioactivity alarms being set off near dozens of unresponsive Fringe worlds.

In other news, Artisanlord has scheduled a synchronized swimming event for hydralisks for this afternoon. Satellite requests for ZergTV are, strangely, on the rise.

(Off-topic: No quest next week, as I'll be getting my wisdom teeth out. On a completely different note: my plan to flood the glowing pits with lava to avenge the death of my beloved Legendary Mayor and his Legendary Mining Corps proceeds. After this, I draft all dorfs into the most ramshackle military ever, and release the Dragon that rampaged into my cage-trapped DMZ. Any survivors will have their share of the Fortress hoard as they abandon, because I want to play Adventure Mode, but don't like leaving portals to Hell open or megabeasts alive)

While I love trolling Kingston as much as the next anon, keep in mind that we have to make sure that VoidGate continues to consider us an ally in its bid to exterminate all humans. Its nuclear arsenal is vast, and it can simply nuke a system defense grid or brood into radioactive dust.

Bernie itself leads its forces into what it reminds us is only its second "exhibition." That's what it calls it. "Exhibition."

In a moment of extreme organization, thousands of bizarre units emerge into the system near-simultaneously. After a mere second of orientation, carriers are penetrated, wrapped, and in some cases, licked by a variety of creatures. The Protoss defense network is flooded with signals of wriggling, tailed scourge-like beings. Orbital drops of corrosive white colloids coat cities in filth.

The Protoss fighting spirit is not crushed, however. It takes only seconds for the ships to begin returning fire, evading, or self-destructing. The element of surprise did Bernie a lot of good, but we are fairly sure this is already a losing battle, though the Protoss surely don't know it yet.

That's when we give VoidGate the signal. A cubic phalanx of its ships arrive in-system a few seconds later, and begin a smart missile barrage of Bernie's forces.

Perhaps unconsciously, or perhaps just because we didn't expect it to accompany an intentionally failed invasion force, we forgot to describe Bernie to VoidGate so that the AI can avoid destroying it. For a moment, we contemplate. We could just...not tell VoidGate...

Here's a brief analysis of what VoidGate now has:
    It has acquired cloaking technology.
It has acquired time-space dilation technology.
It has placed a backdoor into every single Protoss defense grid and robotic machine; it can effectively take over the entire Protoss Empire as it can now control the Drones.
VoidGate now potentially controls resources and industrial assets nearly triple our own.

We feel a thrill of abject panic, which shivers through our Brood like a wave. Internbrate's bad feelings have nothing on this.

Toaster requisitions dozens of overlords, which it fills with infested SCVs. Colonylord provides the location of a moderately rich world that it hadn't quite finished prospecting. It will take time to build the silos and missiles, but if the threat of extinction doesn't light a fire under its proverbial ass, what will?

Accountantbrate's psionic emanations are amazing as it allocates resources from every source, organizing our Hive Clusters across more than 50 worlds. Larvae sprout into eggs in front of every Hatchery, Lair, and Hive in Zerg space. Toaster modifies the battlecruiser and carrier under construction for speed, rather than perfect design. They won't be pretty, but they'll be done today. Warbrate increases overlord patrols in every system, organizing units into squads and divisions as they hatch. Gorn's membranes ooze with anticipatory fluids. Nargil volunteers to lead a small Brood, should we need.

That's fine, but we need to get back into the Ash'Arak system and destroy VoidGate's ships immediately.
We can't allow it to access the Protoss science files. If it does, not only will it gain access to the theory behind the Arbiter's Time Dilation technology, allowing it to use it in it's production facilities and other ships, but also knowledge about the Xel'Naga and their artifacts.

    Its time for calvery.

I want zerg presence in as many portions of the galaxy as possible. We need to change our colonization program from what it is, to actually be more like a virus. Dont compound our holdings until the colonies we have send out a minimum of three colonization units (Minimum offense, fast units, recourse gathering, and other such stuff.)

We need a different planet to manifest on. We are no longer safe.

(Sorry for the delay. Brother and I are laughing and having a good time)
Artisanlord is all too happy to use its ZergTV for public safety announcements in the name of interspecial cooperation. A special edition of 60 Mutas airs on the terrible mechanical menace, confirming its role in the nuclear holocaust of the Fringe colonies. Artisanlord goes so far as to suggest that Terrans and Zerg set aside their differences. It doesn't actually petition for a truce, but it hints pretty heavily.

Meanwhile, we warn Kerrigan to lay low. The Protoss are not safe, and neither is she. She grumbles, but thanks us for the warning.

We send two dropservers out to scout. The first goes to Dagobah. The planet is...notably different than the last time we saw its surface. It is putting off enormous amounts of heat in the form of steam shooting out from massive vents from underground. Water appears to be channeled down for cooling. There are massive communications relays across the surface.

There is also a truly frightful fleet of ships.

Also, we needed a very plausible huge threat for the next major antagonists for the quest.

Kingston's fleet is all shot to hell and we just wrecked the crap outta his scientific capabilities with our attack on the Tyrador system. And discredited him on public television.

The Protoss are still reeling from the Overmind's initial foray onto Aiur, and have similarly suffered with the incineration of Shakuras. The Dark Templar have all but been completely wiped off the face of the Korpulu Sector.

Dyles is probably fused to the surface of that one planet we glassed.

The UED fleet is probably en route... but will probably not arrive anytime soon due to either expanding its size into a full-fledged victory fleet or because we're simply not at that corresponding point in time that they arrived in Brood Wars.

VoidGate hasn't had time to implement the cloaking technology, or the advanced sensor systems needed to detect cloaked units.

A fleet of cloaked battlecruisers, carriers, and valkyries might still be able to fight off VoidGate's defense fleet and glass the planet.

The second goes to Ash'Arak. It finds the Protoss ships repairing while transmissions pass between VoidGate's fleet and the planet's highest-ranking Adjudicator. From the sound of it, the Protoss are not yet aware that their computer systems have been compromised, though they may not have quite taken the bait about the prophecy. From the amount of background noise, we're sure that VoidGate is still downloading the science data.

In a moment of cleverness, we use the dropserver to create a bit of feedback. Not enough to reveal its location, mind you, but enough to alert the Protoss that their systems have been breached. The communications channels get substantially more hostile as the Protoss attempt to set their ships to a combat stance, but suddenly fall silent as reactors, engines, and life support systems fall quiet across the system.

Tactically, we must make a decision: Should we split our forces, or attack just one world? And if one world, which one?

    (And we have a winner!)

Warbrate and Gorn split the available forces, with Gorn taking more Zerg to make up for allowing Warbrate all of our Protoss and Terran assets. Accountantbrate warns them to avoid casualties, as it has expended most of its reserves, so replacements will not be as readily available as they are used to. Warbrate agrees. Gorn laughs.

Warbrate's forces enter the system behind VoidGate's buying about a second's-worth of attack time before the AI's ships reposition. With their weapons aimed at Warbrate's approaching forces, VoidGate's ships make easy targets when Gorn's forces appear, having jumped dangerously close to VoidGate's battle lines. Many mutalisks enter the system already lacerated, hemorrhaging, or dead. Several reenter normal space inside of VoidGate-controlled ships, damaging the metal craft as the organic creature thrashes and dies, perforated from occupying the same space as a machine.

Gorn's forces lash out frantically from within VoidGate's lines, supported by Warbrate's unbroken offensive lines. Heavy plasma, ballistic, and organic fire permeates the scene, but when it becomes apparent that VoidGate's cause is lost, every remaining functional craft in its armada jumps away with clockwork synchronization.

The first blood has been drawn, and we have won the day. Yet, we feel that, unless VoidGate is stopped soon, this victory may yet be...what is it the Terrans say? Pyrrhic.

(And this is...what do I keep saying? A good stopping point!)

An emergency escape plan should include the usage of our captured Arbiter, and the automated launching of Labbrate, Nargil, and Warbrate along with a decent sized colonization fleet.
Escorts should include 2 battlecruisers and a carrier, as well as a handful of Scouts and Wraiths, with some Dropservers for extra scouting.
