    144 KB Gargoyle Quest 9 VKO !qw2cdBTZAc 03/24/11(Thu)01:34 No.14346690
    Last time on gargoyle quest:

    >>You fall down from the rafters with style, landing a bit harshly.

    >>"Ah!" The new person says, astounded. You guess you landed about fifteen feet away from him. "Oh, I just about had a heart attack."

    >>"I am Gabriel." You say, planting the stick on the ground for support.

    >>"I'm Leon." The voice says. "I had heard you might need a little bit of assistance, if you don't mind my rudeness." He sighs, softly. "The Don sent me over to try and help you see in a less physical sense. I don't know if it will work, I haven't met anyone like you before."

    >>Thank you Leon, but I want no handouts from the Don." You say, tapping your stick on the ground for emphasis.

    >>"Aww, well I suppose that's that then." Leon says, making an audible, swishing bow. "The father can reach me if you change your mind." He walks past you, towards the door.

    >>"This is off the record." He says, as he walks just past you. "But I saw a vision last night of a deep, dark cave. Take from that what you will, dear. I hope it's of some help."

    >>"You hear that?" You ask Hugh.

    >>"Hear what?" Hugh asks back.

    >>"It came from upstairs,"

    >>You listen to the small creature's high pitched cries. It flutters around some, landing a few times and starting back into the air in confusion.

    >>"What is that?" You hear the father say, walking into the church form one of the back rooms. "Oh, a bat. How did you get in here..."

    >>"Wait a minute." The father says suddenly. "Gabriel, did you hear that bat from downstairs?"

    >>"Gabriel, you wouldn't have heard that if you had some kind of normal hearing. The acoustics downstairs are awful. In fact, sister Tracy is the only other person I can remember hearing something happen up here." He tries to shake you a bit in his exuberance. "Gabriel, if your hearing has improved this much in two days, who knows what it can do?" He pauses for a second. "Come to think of it, your ears have been getting larger."

    >>"You don't know what a bat does, do you?" The father says.

    >>"I don't know what a bat IS, father." You say.

    >>"Well, son, bats are small winged mammals that can see around them through releasing a high pitched squeal. The sound bounces off of objects, and lets them find their surroundings. That's not to say they're blind, but they fly about in the dark most times." The Father chuckles. "Maybe if your hearing gets good enough, you can do the same!"

    >>You recall that you can make a huge variety of noises thanks to your mutable body. Maybe you can make this sound?

    >>You let out a high pitch squeak several times, with no result.

    >>"Hmm, this is a bit more complicated then I thought." You say.

    >>Father O'Malley rifles through a set of papers he has in the back. "That was a good impression, Gabriel. Do you think you could do that better if you had the chance to listen to the bats again?"

    >>"Sure. Pretty much the only marketable skill we have is doing impressions." Hugh says.

    >>"It was a common passtime." You confess.

    >>"Well, there exists," The father says, pulling out a small piece of paper. "A place called a bat cave, where you could walk amongst the bats."

"I've never heard of seen this batcave...is it close-by?"

I'll also post my friends other versions of the image. :V

    (Thanks again! :3)

"I've never heard of seen this batcave...is it close-by?"

"Yes, about a thirty minute drive. Bats are nocturnal, but if you stayed till the night started to end..." The father pounders this. "I could stay with you for some time. I don't want to leave you without assistance, Gabriel."

Well, since the other gargoyles are rather absent, then Hughs would be adequate company, assuming he wants to join us. We'll just say it's a sleepover with fellow brethren of the night.

"Alright, Father...um..." Lean into him. "You wouldn't mind leaving the cathedral for such a long time?"

Also, when does this guy sleep?

"I could drive you, I don't know how long I could stay, though. I have my duties here." O'Malley says. "If Hugh was with you I'd feel better."

"Uh, sure! But make sure to keep my perch clean. If those pigeons get up there again..." Hugh says.

"I'll clean it up for you. Just watch out for your... erm... brother." O'Malley says.

"Not to worry, toots. I'll make sure he's A-OK." Hugh says in his Boston Blackie voice.

"When do you sleep, father?" You ask.

"I've been sleeping in a bit since I met you Gabriel. I don't think I'll have to stay the night, but I can try and find a place where you'll be alright." The father pats you on the shoulder. "When do you want to leave?"

Earliest possible convenience; being blind sucks. D:

Also, that's the last of the images.

You go now. The father gets some old coats they had lying around, helping you and helps you and Hugh put them on. He leads you out to his car around the back of the church by hand. It drizzles lightly, and O'Malley stops at a gas station for some more fuel, leaving you in the front seat and Hugh in the back.

"So, what's it like?" Hugh asks you, his stone hands closing around the side of your seat as he moves his head closer to you. "Not being blind, the rest of the world."

Did you mean "being blind to the rest of the world"?

I'm going to assume that's what you meant to write.

"Well, it's kind of like...sleeping." Pause. "When you're sleeping, you can't see, but you can still /hear/ and /feel/ things around you. Birds, wind; stuff like that."

Also, going to bed. I have class in 5 hours. D:

    Oh, OK.

"Being asleep. Hmm. But you can still move around. That would be weird." He pauses. "But the other buildings, the places, and the people. What were they like?

The father re-enters the car. "Hugh, lean back please. We don't want these people noticing you."

    "Right, father." Hugh says.

It is a long, quiet ride, till finally the father opens up your side door and helps you out. You feel cold, wet earth on the soles of your feet.

    "Here we are, Gabriel."
