Let's play a game of Canon
For those unacquainted with Canon, we begin with a blank slate of a universe. A setting. A continuum, if you will. Each person adds one thing, and things may not be changed excluding story development. Perhaps another person has inserted a powerful king. You could change that, and explain that later in his life, he was assassinated.

The last time this got played we ended up with a setting with two suns, and two planets which had been shattered by a great magical force, now circling between those suns as shards of the old earth, where rock was very valuable and was often used in weapons, covered in runes, due to the instability of the shards.

You guys start first. Remember, blank slate.

Space ghost sphere: A collaborative setting for a setting of your choosing.

A dyson sphere exists in space, built by a race of ancient space ghosts from a different dimension who only appear to be ghosts, but are actually alive. They once ruled all of the universe and it's resources, but were vanquished from this realm by a mysterious, all consuming orb of yellow energy. Gravity shifts occasionally occur on the surface of the sphere, causing things to become weightless and susceptible to strong winds. The Dyson Sphere is actually a ploy by the Space Ghosts to create a rift powerful enough to allow them to reenter it's dimension. It's dominant inhabitants are the Rabbit People, to whom rape is like saying hello. Among their other species are humans and genetic experiments of all varieties, but the most numerous are a race of intelligent pelicans, who have a strong cultural barrier with other races. Those who are cast out live among the trash barrens near the outer waste vents on the exterior of the sphere.

    Sample Adventure: Reentry.
The players have been cast out of the interior of the dyson sphere by the Rabbit People, but a hole has appeared in the sphere itself. Forgotten space ghost technology may be the only thing that will allow them to reenter the sphere, but once they do, they will have to work with the Pelican People, disregarding their longstanding cultural barriers.

Tribal meetings are highly ritualized. This is to prevent members from feeling they are being treated unfairly. Anyone breaking the rituals is cast out of the tribe and killed.

exterior yeah. Two of the dyson spheres were destroyed when their artificial orbit brought them into collision. The shattered remains orbit the remaining dyson spheres and rain down onto the surface. Some peices are so small they burn up in re-entry, others are so large then can punch holes into the sphere and offer an oppertunity to get to the "CORE" before the automated systems repair the hole. Entire cities have been built from and in the gargantuan chunks of scrap that scar the sphere's surface. Sometimes there will be functioning systems of the destroyed spheres still available. (rare, rare technology for the barbarians)

There exist in space a number of Dyson Spheres.
They were created by an ancient race of Space Ghosts, who only appear to be ghosts, who once ruled this entire dimension and all of it's resources. They were defeated by a great mysterious orb of yellow energy.
Secretly, the Dyson Spheres are a method for the Space Ghosts to open a rift powerful enough to travel back into this dimension. Some of their technology lays forgotten on the sphere, powerful, but allowing the user to be possessed by a space ghost. This fact is unknown by all but very, very few.

Two spheres were once destroyed when their orbits decayed and they collided. The fragments litter the void, sometimes raining down on intact spheres, sometimes with working systems still intact, with several larger settlements built in the ruins created by these impacts. Some impacts open gashes in the sphere, leading to The Core.

There are a number of species and sentients among the spheres. Nearly all of them reside on the exterior of the spheres.

motogangs fight in a demolition derby/ race of death across the flat lands and thru the cities. They carve a swath of death into all, for the thrill of speed and the meaty impact of a body against the battle plow on their moto's. most moto's are outsized motorcycles, atv''s, dune buggies, and the occasional hover craft (think with air skirt). as the moto gangs have no projectiles at their disposal, a lot of high speed close quarters suicidal combat takes place. high speed death/ headonism/ cannibal gangs. flamethrowers are rarely utilized by them due to the ineffectiveness of them at high speeds and that burning fuel is better used by their vehicles.

The dominant species on the Spheres are the Rabbit People. They view rape as a greeting to be used as a way of establishing pecking order; to rape someone above you is to be put to death. They wear a mix between cyberpunk and BDSM gear, mostly to speed up rape encounters. They attempted to exterminate the robots, in fear of rebellion. They have recently come under the affliction of a deadly pox, which is, in secret, a bio-engineered virus, being tested on and spoken of only behind closed doors, created by an extremist group of Pelicans.

The most numerous species are the intelligent Pelicans, who have longstanding cultural barriers with all other races. They wear ornate masks and concealing robes. They view anyone who can bring back an albino space whale carcass as a great hero. It is said that their messiah will come to them with the carcasses of 40 albino space whales. This has lead to a drastic decline in the number of albino space whales.

The Space Whales are the only species to naturally brave the void. They wear overly ornate helmets, but rarely much else. They are seen as the only trading and travel link between spheres, and thus, captured, or enticed into helping. They are the only ones who know the true secret of the gene-modified.

    The Gene-Modified
A variety of genetic experiments from an unknown source, they are generally sentient, and strike at the rabbit people from the shadows as they are often prosecuted.

    The Robots
While having been nearly exterminated by the Rabbit People, they soldier on, fighting the Space Ghosts in secret.

    The Humans and others.
A number of other species reside on the spheres, but none of them are dominant enough or important enough to merit note. Humans often live in settlements with other species, while others join the Moto-gangs.

    The Motogangs
A collection of misfits and malcontents from all species usually ruled by one supreme chief, they roam the outskirts with crude vehicles, scavenged from waste vent parts, and occasionally, shards of the two shattered dyson spheres. They are mostly personal vehicles such as motorcycles and ATVs, but dunebuggies are not an uncommon sight. Some also make use of large hovercraft, constructed with air skirts and powerful turbines. They battle along the flatlands and through city paths as they see fit. Without access to conventional projectile weapons, they forgo using flamethrowers, as, at high speeds, they are ineffective and a waste of fuel. They instead elect to battle in close quarters as they speed along, using suicidal tactics and melee weapons, either in their hands, or on their cars.

When two motogangs clash in a manner that demands a duel between the leaders rather than a war, they take part in Death Sphere, a combination of stunt driving and jousting. The losing chief is almost invariably eaten by the winning chief alive.

Technology among settlements is rarely, if ever, advanced. That which is will usually be a lost piece of Space Ghost technology, or a rare working piece of technology, scavenged from a shard of the two shattered spheres. What does exist among settlements is rudimentary industrial equipment, such as chainsaws, circular saws, jackhammers, and many others. Advanced settlements may take advantage of waste gasses expelled from the waste vents to harness the power of electricity for these tools, while most use the combustible gasses in crude engines. The most common, if, perhaps, the only type of ranged weaponry on the Spheres is the ubiquitous flamethrower. Often firing only combustible gas through a metal tube, they are fairly effective. Some improve upon the design, pressurizing gas or using special tubing design to cause flames to fly further. Some even add toxic chemicals to the mixture of gas for increased lethality. Moto-gangs take advantage of waste gas as propellant for their vehicles, whether rudimentary jets, rockets, or crude combustion engines are used.

Due to these limitations on tech, foot warfare is truly a horrifying sight. Combat saws belch noxious fumes, often creating a darkening of the sky before a battle, while flamers can often appear to be massive walls of flame before their enemies, their hellish exhaust either scorching or poisoning their enemy with the resulting smoke. The moto-gangs anticipate such conflicts and wait on the horizon, seeking to steal as much waste gas and other salvage from the battleground's aftermath, regardless of if it's weapons, waste gas, or even meat.

    Computronium.

One of the most valuable substances on the spheres, said to be mined from the fabled inside it can pretty much only be found in the hands of robots or the spheres maintenance systems.

The substance is stored in surprisingly heavy square blocks (that despite this hover above any surface placed upon), if a block comes in contact with any non organic, relatively pure sample of a base element the entire block turns into equal mass of that element.

Stories suggest that some of the robots can through magic alter this substance not only in composition but also shape, and do so on the fly. Not only that but they can continue to do so even after its first transformation. Some stories even indicate that certain robots may be made entirely out of 'used' computonium.

though few in number, the robots are fearsome. Cut off from reinforcements and resources the robots make due by creating lesser robots out of the bones and scrap metal/ weapons of the fallen organic that are so easily found on the surface of the sphere. ADDENDUM:
Pt.1: The Spheres: Unbeknownst to all, the Spheres are failing. They will all break apart within 100 years, destroying all life in, on, or around them. All adventures must take place in this timeline. Consider causing veteran players of Space Ghost Sphere to meet previous characters.
Pt.2: The Inhabitants two of two
The teeth of some humans on the spheres are filed down to points to better defend themselves from the Rabbit People, and to better worship the 7th Lord of Points. The teachings and worship of the 6th Lord of Points is taught from a sacred tattered text, speaking of a Righteous weapon of the gods, known as a Firearm. The true name of the 6th Lord of Points is the Lord of Bullet Points.
There is only one all human Moto-gang of note: The Zilieders, a heinous gang of brutes and savages. They are known for assassinating Pelican officials.

Though few in number, the robots are fearsome. Cut off from reinforcements and resources the robots make due by creating lesser robots out of the bones and scrap metal/ weapons of the fallen organic that are so easily found on the surface of the sphere. The robots that have existed longest begin to identify with organics some even going so far as to take a gender identity. It is here we find the arch mistress of the digitek. She fights an battle against her brother of the Analog cult. With the space ghosts gone, and their primary directives done, all that is left is to serve their most base function. To destroy. Pt.3: Technology and Conflict
Within the maintenance systems and the hands of robots, there exists a most prized and rare element: Computronium, stored in large, heavy blocks said to be from The Inside itself. It hovers when placed on any surface. When it comes into contact with any non-organic substance, it takes on the exact properties of that element, becoming stuck in that state. It is said that robots can control it and alter it even after it's transformation. Others still say robots themselves are constructed of used Computronium.

    ENTRY
Entry is a sample adventure provided for Space Ghost Sphere, revolving around the mysterious inner workings of the spheres, the mysterious workings of the space ghosts, and, ultimately, survival.

This adventure is tooled to allow players to choose any race or background they wish, provided their character would have the proper motivations.

On an unremarkable sphere, one of the fragments of the two shattered spheres has struck, opening one of the cleanest and largest holes to the core of a sphere recorded yet. The players will have to face down Moto-gangs, master malicious Space Ghosts in order to use their technology, as it is their only hope of reaching the core, along with face down the Pelicans and bring down cultural barriers, as they have quarantined the hole, seeking to exploit it in any way they can.
Little is known about the interior of the spheres.

We suggest a classic format to be used for this adventure: The journey is what really matters. Should you choose to continue the adventure past the point of reaching the hole, feel free to expand upon Space Ghost Sphere yourself to provide the required resources for a journey into the core. Further expansions and editions may expand and offer an official set of information for the core.

Now archive this at suptg and slap the setting up on 1d4chan, and we'll continue the thread and add onto the baseline I set up, and we'll get this bitch looking even better. Maybe we can even get some drawfags up in this.

Aw, there was really only one instance of that. And even then, other people expanded onto it and made it make sense enough for it to fly. That's what's great about it. You can't change things, but you can explain things, you can make them fit.
    Except that lich thing

raping bunny men wearing gimp and dom suits? pelican men?

Dyson spheres that open portals to other dimensions are just the story line to the xindi episodes of Star Trek Enterprise.

There are ~some~ good ideas there though, I freely admit that and have saved some of them.

L.I.C.H is an acronym found on the side of a group networked drones thought to have been built to tend large scale agricultural work. It is not known how to properly code for their software with the last major breakthrough being a bug that causes them to respond to the command "cheese.exe"

Some areas of wasteland across the planet are populated by ancient cybernetically enhanced, once human soldiers, utilising technology seen as magical by the more primitive denizens of the Dyson Planet, they are generally regarded by most of the world to be mythological perhaps allegorical figures of a cultural memory of a great war in ancient times. Ancient mythology depicts stone warriors left here by Space Ghosts as the Guardians of the Planet against a Sun God like deity. in the areas surrounding the wasteland they are known as figures of divine punishment to the primitive humans who live there, massacring a small settlemnt once every decade or so and leaving without any explanation or evidence of their existence besides mounds of corpses and occsionally traumatized survivors. In some of the moto gangs who find valuable moto-fuel in the wasteland; it is considered a mark of true skill to have encountered these ancient warriors and survived to tell the tale.

pelican men are sweet. the rabbit people are a little weird but hey, that's what you get. nothing wrong with it. If you're actually looking to make a whole new setting for yourself, you can always start a new thread and a new game. maybe lay down ground rules, if you want. Purple.

Agreed. However, that's the deal when you do it on /tg/. If you want something where everyone approaches it in a consistent manner you should arrange it on IRC or similar.

"cha-heese" sometimes slangly spoken as cheese, a summoning word of the psychic creatures known only as "litches" offering insight into the matter at hand for the player party. Consider them like a guide. They offer insight into matters concerning the world and the matters at hand. Beware though, they have their own agenda and their advice or opinions while helpfull will steer you twards their goals, and not your own. They desire an organic paradise on the surface of the sphere, a word spanning lush, humid. tropical jungle. each time you summon them, a flowering plant is left in their place upon their disappearance. (they can teleport). this plant spreads its spores and seeds about to create new plant life and slowly terraform the sphere. the pelicans consider conversing or summoning litches to be heresy..

The sphere is sentient to some degree and does not want to be breached. All attempts to drill into the fabled core have ended abruptly when miners have found themselves sealed in by the spheres repair systems. This is what makes the hole so unusual, it does not appear to be damage but rather a deliberate opening in the sphere - for what purpose no-one knows.

well, my last game lasted 3 days, and my ruleset has always been:

1- if someone says it, it is canon and cannot be changed except by advancing the timeline.
2- the OP and invested players reserve the right to call you out on being a dick. any faggotry of this nature will be ignored.

    or something of that nature.

rule number 3 is generally: We are all gentlemen and women, lets act like it.
