Founded in the 33rd Millenium when a lone Administratum clerk found a fragment of the text "Call of Cth-", the High Lords were notified and geneseed of the Blood Angels began being stockpiled for the founding of the Abyssal Jaws. Since its founding the Chapter has made itself known for its vicious tenacity in close range combat and specilation in aquatic enviroments as well as its open disregard for the Codex with its numbers being several times over the stipulated 1,000.

Why am I now imagining them all being like the Aquanauts from Terror from the Deep?

That'd be ironic, a chapter of Space Marines get's built soley because of some adept confusing a work of fiction for reality, only to then base them purely by chance on a homeworld which has secretly been seeded by Xenos really close to that depicted in the books.

A boy of only 14 years sat alone on a small boat adrift in morning haze of the equatorial seas of Maresia. His breathing deep and rhythmic as he stared up into the deep green moon of Noxyssus hanging high in the sky above. In both hands he held a long knife made of the teeth of a scythe fish he had killed the week earlier. His hands still bore the scars from that battle.

He would succeed where his brothers had not. He would win honor for his mother where they could not, he would show them that he didn't need to wait another two years before attempting this daunting challenge to prove himself worthy of even the notion that he might be capable of becoming a space marine of the Abyssal Jaws. The promise of girl's fighting for his attention for the short interlude he'd have after his success also boosted his confidence.

He cast his eyes back down the choppy waters as he stood up, offering a prayer to the Emperor, to his ancestors, and to the abyss in a hushed whisper. In a practiced motion he dragged the knife across his cheeks, slicing into his flesh just deep enough so that his blood would flow to stain the waters red yet not endanger his life unnecessarily. He stared into the deep, his chest heaving to fill his lungs with precious air as he waited and watched.

Moments later he had the sign he wanted, a dark shape easily larger than the dinghy he stood upon passed underneath. He dove into the water and sunk deep beneath the surface. He opened his eyes and steeled himself for what was to come. Each moment felt like an eternity as the dark shape several dozen meters in length made another pass around him.

He had what he wanted, a trident whale; a vicious beast with 3 jaws and maw full of teeth that was capable of taking a blasting spear to its carapace and shrugging it off. The only way to kill the damn thing safely was to feed it a torpedo or shove something similarly explosive into its gut. That wouldn't cut it though, he needed to prove himself, so carving its heart out from the inside would be the best bet.

It all happened in a moment, the beast surged forward and opened its mammoth maw and he swam forward with all his might, hoping that he'd make it in time before it snapped its jaws shut and tear him apart.

All he could feel was his heartbeat... no that wasn't his heartbeat, that pressure he could feel all around him was its heart. Though no one could see him, he beamed a wicket a grin and took his knives to its soft insides and tore into them with pride, its thick oily blood coating him as he homed in on its beating heart

Almost three minutes after he had dove into the water the boy sufaced coated in the beasts viscera and blood, carrying with him the prized heart almost as big as himself. Now all he had to do was row it back to the hive while it was still fresh.

The Cartographers were asking for a reconigtion mission, next to the Great Reef. Dangerous place, he knows that, alot of Sea Devils and a great risk of enemy attack, but it was necessary, they told him. He does not question, he only follows orders. What the Great Cartographers says is the rule.
They assigned a Squad of Abyssal Jaws, to help them. The Pride of Maresia, every kid want to be one of them, the SeaGuard is only a afterthought. Nemo sighed, he can see why they think on that, he wanted to be one of them as a kid. His mother was deeply sadned when he joined the Guard.

Nemo looked on the Screen and saw the Squad swimming close to the shio. An almost surreal seeing, as they swim thousand of piranhas follows them. What a frightining sight he thought, If i was a chaos warrior that sight would be enough for me to run away.
Oh Well, the time to think was over. He saw the Great Reef, A Beautifully dangerous place to sail. Each rock could pierce even the strongest submarine. He needed it to be really carefull sailing along those rocks, but he know he can do that. He, along with the crew, piloted Szehmekhen masterfully, dodging each and every Rock, he was almost thinking it was over when suddenly the submarine stopped.

Bad Signal he thought, he looked to the screen and saw a gigantic tentacle, strangling the vehicle, he recognized it: Kraken. For a second he saw himself with no real hope, but he saw blood on the screen. And then he saw it happens. Out of nowhere, thousand piranhas started to attack with ferouscity the SeaDevil. Blood was all over the sea, the Kraken was going to die. But it wasn't enough for the Jaws, and with an almost feral rage, they dove into the almost dead creature, hacking , slashing and piercing the creature until it was nothing but a piece of meat and blood.
Nemo looked at the bloodstained squad and the dead monster and let out a small smile

“By the Emperor's! This is a Great Day to Sail”

A lesser man than captain Melvus would have been blind in the darkness. No light filtered this far into the murky depths. If the blindess did not undo them, the pressure would have. Hundereds of feet down, the human body would collapse and crush like paper. Yet Melvus was alive, and far from blind. As he raised another gauntletted fist to grasp a handhold above his head, he was completely aware of the darkness around him.

Pulling himself up, Melvus could feel his brothers climbing below him. The anchoring strut that they scaled stretched down into the darkness below, and the captain could see the long line of marines reaching down to the depths. Even to him the seafloor was hidden from view, where hours before his brothers had been deposited by their shielded sub-skimmers and begun their climb. The heretics had overrun the deep-sea platform for their obscene ritual, and the platform's intergrated defences made it impossible to approach from the open air. The traitors had not counted, however, on the strength of the abyss, and Melvus's men meant to show them their mistake.
    >> Anonymous 04/12/11(Tue)22:28 No.14573775
After hours of climbing, the captain could see curtains of light from the moons above filtering down through the water. Mear meters below the surface he halted, and prepared his squad for the assault. Over the comm, the squads scaling the 3 other struts confirmed that they too were prepared. Reaching to his belt, Melvus grasped the heavy chain-hook that hung there. Silently breaching the surface in the moonlight, he saw the shadowy shapes of Heretics moving back and forth across the catwalks above. Steadying himself against the support pylon, he sighted on the lowest catwalk, and swung.

The chain-hook revved as it flew, triggered by unspooling of the high-density fiber cord connecting it to Melvus's belt. As the hook arced above the catwalk, the marine captain yanked on the cord and brought it snapping back, catching a heretic in the chest and sinking through his flesh into the plating of the catwalk. Triggering the retreval function, Melvus was pulled rapidly up to the level of the walkways. The hooks of his battle brothers swung up to join him as he freed his chain-hook from the body of the heretic and turned to the traitors that had begun to panic and sound the alarm all around him. The saltwater cascading over his helmet lent a bubbling note to his roar, as though it rose from a great depth:

"FEAR THE MIGHT THAT RESIDES IN THE ABYSS"

Midshipman William Watts was going to die. The Imperial Maresian Ship "Rectitude" had been his first posting after graduating from the Maresian Naval Academy, and he had never been prouder than the day he had boarded the gleaming destroyer and set sail to guard the eastern naval shipping lanes. While goods could be shipped around the planet by space-capable cargo flyers, such travel was expensive for large quantities of goods. As such, many merchants chose to ply the seas of their oceanic world, giant ships sailing between the great floating hives. These large, slow vessels were often vulnerable to pirates seeking to plunder them and take their cargo for the illegitimate mini-hives which drifted with the currents. But it seemed it wasn't pirates that would be the end of the Rectitude.

Midshipman Watts gaped as the chitinous creatures swarmed over the lower decks. The sailors fought to force them back, but as William watched one of the creatures reached its gigantic pincered apendage out and severed a seaman at the waist. The long pikes the sailors normally used to pull in smaller craft simply bounced off the armor of the scuttling creatures, while more of them continued to pull themselves over the sides of the ship and set upon the hapless men. The captain had sealed the bridge and now barked orders over the comm system to organize a concerted defense, but it was hopeless. In the chaos that was the decks of the ship, the midshipman could do nothing but watch as they were overwhelmed.
    >> Anonymous 04/13/11(Wed)03:04 No.14576779
Caught up in the hopelessness of the situation, William had to throw himself back in fear to avoid being speared as one of the crab-like creatures clambered over the rail he had been perched at. Scrambling back until his back hit the bulkhead of the command bridge behind him, William quaked in fear as the creature advanced, chittering and waving its gigantic pincer claw. His hands scrabbled for the laspistol he had been issued upon graduation, but as soon as he freed it from the holster the rolling of the ship tipped it out of his grasp and it slid over the edge of the deck. The creature almost upon him now, William cowered back and prayed that the lighthouse of the great God-Emperor would guide his soul.

His eyes closed, William never saw the gigant red-and-blue figure leap impossibly up from the deck below. Its booted feet landed on the back of the crab creature, forcing it down to the deck. And as a giant pincer reached for it, the figure drove a long harpoon down through the thick armored carpace into the body of the creature... which promptly exploded. Stepping down from the now-smoking carpace, the gore-covered behemoth freed its harpoon at reached a hand out to the quavering Midshipman. Pulling him to his feet with a yank that almost dislocated his arms, the giant emitted a deep rumbling sound. It took the dazed sailor a moment to realize that the behemoth was laughing, a low rolling chuckle at his confused state.
    >> Anonymous 04/13/11(Wed)03:11 No.14576844
"Come brother!" The giant figure called to him. "The sea has seen fit to challenge us on this day!" And without another word the red-and-blue warrior swung itself over the railing and plunged into the melee below. William found himself staring down once again at a massacre, yet this time it was the crab creatures who could not stand their ground. More of the giants had boarded the Rectitude, and William finally recognized them as Space Marines, the revered warriors of the Emperor. Morover, they were the Abyssal Jaws, the chapter he himself had dreamed of becoming! He had not had the will as a youth to undergo the initiation challenge, and so had enrolled in the naval academy. Yet here they were, driving back these beasts from the deep. The marines fought with skill, and as William watched two worked in concert to trap the claw of the biggest of the creatures using massive hooks attached to their belts. The beast neutralized, a third warrior stabbed into its face with one of their explosive harpoons.

Looking about the ship, William was agahst to see a gigantic hole in the windscreen of the command bridge above him. It seemed one of the creatures had managed to bash its way through, and the bridge crew were only saved by dint of being less visible than the captain's elevated position. Yet despite this loss of command, the ship badly needed to return to safe harbor for repairs. While the sleek skimmer the Marines had used could guide them, the ship could not go without a commander. And so it was that, despite his trepidation, the young Captain Watts of the IMS Rectitude found himself very quickly tiring of the taste of crab.
