16 KB Crossover setting thread Anonymous 04/14/11(Thu)04:39 No.14589880
It's survey tiem, /tg/. What would be your favourite "crossover" setting? I'm talking about merging different genres, like for example fantasy/western, or steampunk/horror. Choose two from the following table. Posting a related picture is not mandatory but makes you awesome.
Don't wanna choose because you are lazy? Roll instead.

    1 - western
    2 - high fantasy
    3 - survival horror
    4 - sci-fi
    5 - dark fantasy
    6 - cyberpunk
    7 - steampunk
    8 - superhero
9 - small animals (rango, secret of nihm...)
    10 - noir
    11 - 30's pulp
    12 - post apocalyptic
    13 - space opera
    14 - warfare
    15 - present day
    16 - zombies
17 - classic horror (dracula, headless horseman...)
    18 - primitive/caveman
    19 - multiverse
    20 - present day

Let's see those settings go! I will gather the results and then post the results.

    Pic obviously related.

They're called Ten-Seconders because that's the average lifespan of a normal human fighting one of the 'Gods' - essentially classic superheroes who came to earth and imposed their rule.

    post apoc space opera steampunk.
After the Great War, humanity struggled to rebuilt civilization. But even as technological progress reached Victorian-era levels, human greed stayed the same. An ancient artifact called the 'Onlommu' by the locals is found on another continent. But it had since fallen to the nefarious Bucksley & Montoya co., and through their corporate takeovers, your family's business as a steam mechanic is ruthlessly destroyed. You have escaped their death-squads with what few tools of the trade you managed to grab from your family's workshop.
Are you a man enough artificer to create devices and vehicles to combat/outsell/claim vengeance on them, and wrest control of the Onlommu from them?

A prehistoric caveman encased in ice is at display in Hong Kong national museum, when he is de-freezed during a heist. The revived caveman, wandering the streets of Hong Kong, found shelter in the home of an old Kung Fu master. After learning Cantonese and Kung Fu from the old master, the Triad (who incidentally started the museum heist) killed the old master. Are you a skilled enough caveman to take on the Triad and claim vengeance?

    Well...

My favourite genres, out of what you've listed, are hard Sci-Fi (think Xeelee Sequence), Dark Fantasy (Diablo), Steampunk (Thief 2), and Space Opera (most sci-fi vidya).

My favourite combination? Shit, I dunno. Probably hard-ish sci-fi meets space opera, in a glorious mix of EVERYTHING FROM SPACE.

But then, I'm one of those fags you find in vs debate threads, so yeah.

    Beware the dreaded doublezombie.

...Actually this would possibly be doable. Zombies vs zombies, I mean. Make it a game where there are two opposed zombie origins fighting each other, with the shreds of humanity left trapped in the middle. Like one side is infection from space zombies that came back with an astronaut (or is part of a pending alien invasion!) and the other side is either When Hell Is Full magical zombies, or bio-science style rage zombies / Resident Evil BoWs.

    Zombies vs Zombies! Totally doable.

I would like to thank all the elengan/tg/entelmen that have contributed with ideas and rolls. I will gather the results of the survey of the ones that expressed their preference, and I will soon post them.

And since you enjoyed the random roll game so much, I have something in mind that you will like...

Throw Knights of Cydonia in a blender with Firefly, and kimchi westerns, and you have the perfect genre ever.
