We are currently playing a game about an alternate history setting, with late 1800's Europe beset with advanced tech for the day and on it's way to WWI.

After being betrayed one time too many by another character, my character has up and left Europe and his past behind, after stealing her baby. Anyone want to hear what's happened as of late?

I intend to, but the way other people react to him is somewhat alarming.

    >>14697871

I think it's all about the people you play with. Like this would be the only group I've ever played in with any stories of interest, and most of them are only because of That Girl (her player, that is).

Now that I think about it, I'll keep my current group. I still think the girl did it to be more prominent in your group, and that's not something I would roll with. I understand that, in my setup, my character is pretty important due to her relationship with the main villian, but I want everyone in my group to get their cool moments in and not have the entire story dominated around me.

Of course, we have The Stig in our party, so I think this won't be too much of a problem.

As a famous writer once said, "Every character is the star of his own story". Maybe some of the other party members simply aren't considering this ongoing conflict and are mainly focused on what their character's going to do next. I've certainly felt that way before.

Ok well I said we left Europe and landed in North Africa. My guy nearly died from an infection by That Girl. Well after partially recovering, I figured to have him walk about with the babby, see the world outside of what we know.

And I must say I was amazed. We're not that far from Europe, and already magic is widely abound. I don't think it's that tech is more rare, I mean it is, but you can tell the difference between here and where we came from. People themselves in general are more magical, or make more use of it.

Like, we stepped off the vessel, and right there in the docks are people using formidable magic, and walking around it's impressive to see things like it here and there and commonplace. Stuff like that would NEVER exist back in Europe, people would be getting persecuted up the wazoo.

So we headed about and I thought I'd check out a market place. I found one near the docks, it wasn't even a major one and already I'm seeing all sorts of crazy items and artifacts. Good thing I had a good deal of money, and joke was this was just some minor side market in some small port on the North African coast, I can't imagine what would be available somewhere mainstream or populous.

Craziest thing of all, the people here practically worship the ground the babby walks on, so to speak. Everywhere I went with him people are like bowing down or praising him in other languages or blessing him, all kinds of strange and amazing things.

I'm kind of glad none of the Inventors were there to see, it would likely have raised allot more attention than I would have liked. It's good to know though what I can expect when taking him around places, and what to look out for in the future. All in all it's rather jarring, the amount of attention he draws. Offerings, gifts, tributes and prayers all kinds of stuff.

I don't know what more there is to say, people were asking the same stuff in the last thread, I wrote allot about him.

In general, he's an ambitious industrialist who has a hate complex for the Inventors and old ways of thew world, wants to make things better his own way and put himself in charge of everything. That Girl was the catalyst, but while she was bound by morals and eventually couldn't live with herself and opted to quit everything, he suffered no such qualms and continued onward, pushing her all the way.

It seems to me he may be the real villain of the whole campaign. It may be a better idea of instead of focusing on "that girl", you may want to take him out of the game. That way you can work socially against "that girl" instead of physically. Hell it may even get her off of the whole "out to kill you" business. Worse comes to worse "that girl" becomes exposed, escapes punishment, and the world turns against her. Best case you win the campaign, "that Girl" gets exposed and punished, the boy grows up raised by his deserving family, and all that is left is to defeat cthulhu with Nemo.

Of the ones I listed? I guess that'd be the Formal Ball. I'll say before I get into it though that it's pretty explicit. Not something usual to our games, but it's perhaps the most important event of the game so far, despite involving rape and other sordid details.

    ---

    Ok lemme see;

So this was awhile after That Girl had enacted the first TPK when she showed up out of the blue sporting some very cumbersome and unwieldy looking augmentations. This was way back when, she had only just gotten the improvements to allow her to walk again, and had a replacement arm fitted. Only temporary it would be clear, as standing up, the thing dragged on the ground and weighed down terribly on her small frame.

However we thought we had seen the last of her, us being the survivors at least. She was a Baroness now, rich to boot and much better off in the world than any of us could ever hope to be. Quite the improvement from a penniless (and armless) cripple left weeping in the frozen mud, struggling to even move. We supposed with her revenge enacted though, she would leave us alone, and after recovering from the attack overtime we were able to build reputation again and even replaced all the "dead" members of the old party. Yes, things were looking up for us, and we were doing good for ourselves.

I agree that the guy should be taken care of, he has no redeeming qualities. However unlike That Girl he has a sense of care for his own well being. He would never willingly put himself in harms way, and most of the time he has That Girl acting as his personal guard.

Something of a consideration has arisen overtime, as to whether or not she is completely herself anymore. It's entirely possible that with the amount of changes he forces her into, she may be partially or totally under his influence. No way of telling to be sure, but I think in any situation, to get to him I'd have to go through That Girl.

Plus, even with him out of the way there's no guarantee as to what she'd do after. However I agree that targeting him is a better idea than focusing on her.

Eventually we were approached by our higher ups, with a task of much importance. The young Prince of Spain was to be visiting the country to spend time with relatives. We had the option of taking the job to serve as his escorts; take him around, protect him, take care of him and just show him a good time. Something that big we accepted though gingerly. We didn't want some pompous noble cramping our style and bossing us around. Still though it would only help us.

So we prepare to take him into our custody, awaiting the many annoyances to come. Instead we find, a polite, kind, empathetic young boy only 12 at the time. Religious to the letter and never wanting to be a burden on anyone, immediately things looked better than expected. As well, he wasn't one to stifle us in any way, and didn't mind following us about on work, and actually enjoyed himself, as we did having him. The whole time the Nun was to be his direct caretaker, a job she came to cherish.

All in all things lightened up immensely in the game, having him around was fun and a nice break from hunting werewolves and undead. Eventually we started bringing him on serious work, and he was even a help given his knowledge of many things and religious practices. What ensued were several months of basically the group palling around while taking care of the kid, and all in all everyone involved were having a blast.

Eventually it came around to October time in-game, and the Prince's birthday approached, he was to be 13 but made clear that he did not regret spending the time with us rather than at home, say. To celebrate, his relatives in the country opted to expand upon the Halloween ball they had planned, so they could celebrate his birthday as well. All in all it looked to be a huge event, and many of the group were excited if for no other reason than that they had never been to an event of such magnitude. Indeed, only the Industrialist was from a wealthy background as to be familiar with such things. Either way it looked to be a rather memorable time. The days till, we mostly spent trying to prepare to look for the occasion. Only my character and another, being policemen would not be dressed to the nines.

So anyway the event rolled around without a hitch, and checking the place out things looked to be safe, blah blah blah, and everything was prepared. All we had to do was wait for guests and the event to start. And boy did they come, people flooding in from all over, of all manners of exquisite wealth and lifestyles, this was the place to be tonight. We even let our guards down after awhile, opting to join the party.

Biggest mistake of my career, I'm fairly certain.

About an hour or two into the event, around 10, we hear word of a late arrival. Their entrance is announced by the doormen, to much interest.

Illora Cheseri, and the titles that followed her name, least not among them, That Girl.

The three of us survivors immediately drop everything in shock, to consolidate and try and grasp what is going on, as That Girl glides down the stairs to join the party to much greetings and acclaim. Once she's able to get past the original onslaught of greeters and other people intent on meeting her, she makes her way over to the Prince to announce herself and wish him Happy Birthday, all that jazz. In hindsight, I realize now she was merely sizing him up, learning all she could about him in person.

Eventually she mingled with the rest of the party, while we tried to gather up the rest of the group to decide how to act.

Despite all our deliberations, experiences, and warnings, we are unable to convince the rest of the group that she is a threat. They'd heard of her, and from us they had also heard she had caused the first TPK, but never actually meeting her, to them she was more of a ghost story really. Something horrible from the past that wouldn't ever affect them. Plus, seeing her now they were convinced that she couldn't be bad, or at the least, was not here for foul purposes. They agreed to keep an eye peeled, but otherwise dismissed it and returned to the party.

We were convinced though, just her being here was enough. Sure she was invited but she only would show up if she had a purpose. We were convinced she was going to kill us again or something. So the three of us split up, to go about doing what we needed.

The Nun went to the Prince and remained by his side, watching over him like a hawk, ready to get him out of there if need be. We didn't believe he was in danger, but he would be coming with us if we needed to evacuate. My guy contacted the security forces at the event, and set about coordinating searching the place, making sure That Girl didn't have backup, etc..

My partner too, assisted but only initially. He had something else in mind, which I wish he'd have made clear before acting on it.

After helping about with security for awhile, he decided to confront her in person. This was kind of opposed to the idea we had of not letting her know that we were preparing for anything she might try, but his meeting her allowed for us to learn more about her at least.

He approached her wearing a mask (is was a costume ball, for Halloween), wrapping his arm about her waist and taking her hand in his. As if by reflex she prepared to throw him off of her, but was interrupted by him asking her to dance, and in that moment was reminded that she was at a party, she was not being threatened, and she had appearances to keep up. Plus it was just a fellow guest asking her.

So my partner was able to get her to dance with him, and in so doing did his best to find out what he could about her without appearing suspicious.

Through his action he was able to learn quite a bit, at least give us a heads up to know what we were dealing with before she struck. From his time spent with her, he was able to discern more about her, based on the description that her player gave as to how she appeared showing up to the party, by showing us pic related. Essentially, this was the appearance she would come to adopt, and to this day appears like this.

Of note, before this, as stated she had only managed to acquire the basics, enough to get her walking again and a bulky, unwieldy arm replacement. In being so close to her at the party though he was able to see that her new arm was of a much better build, apart from the appearance pretty much exactly the same shape/size as the arm she lost. As well, at the part in their dance where he leaned her down to the floor, he was able to tell one of her eyes was replaced, and as well her body was much, much heavier than it should have been. He was a pretty strong, fit guy, but he had trouble keeping ahold of her and lifting her back up. Lastly he was able to tell from her movements that she must have had some sort of leg enhancement. He couldn't see through her dress, and any other time she moved and appeared completely normal, but in the complicated steps involved with dancing, she had trouble managing.

So for the next few hours he basically stuck to her like glue, trying to find out what he could about her. Already he had discerned much about her physically, but was able to pass off questions about it as curiosity, and further attempted to learn about her motives without appearing suspicious.

My guy had been busy with security, checking all around the grounds and preparing for whatever may happen, the Nun had been taking care of the Prince, and pretty much everyone else was enjoying the party or getting drunk. My partner though, he was doing his best, and a good job of it, playing himself off as an interested and charming stranger while learning whatever he could.

Around half past eleven, the two went to sit out and talk on one of the main balconies, the high moon gleaming overhead. Here he was able to learn more about her motives, what she had been doing the last few months and vaguely what she was here for. To her he was still a stranger, so she had to watch her responses, but apparently she was waiting someone. Still, they continued on, this and that came up, etc...

Then the bombs went off. Approaching midnight several explosions rocked the whole building and caused panic. My partner freaked, and made clear that they should evacuate. Regrettably with a sigh, she stood up to leave, offering her apologies and stating that the person she was waiting for was here now.

At then he removed his mask and cloak, and confronted her.

Naturally she responded with shock, maybe even hurt a little realizing that the dashing strangers was actually one of the people who had essentially left her for dead.

He called her out on what she was doing, and they started arguing, him trying to get her to stop while she was trying to get him to leave her alone, get out of this place. When he tried to accost her though she gave up on appearances and defended herself. He had improved in strength and such since their last encounter, but for her to respond in kind with such force must have caught him off guard. In trying to grab ahold of her she tossed him off like a ragdoll, casting him into the wall and breaking a few ribs. She left him sprawled there, saying that he would be safe if he remained here. With that she took off through the party.

With the tightened security I had instructed, people were having trouble getting out of the building. They were on the lookout for That Girl leaving, but she wasn't even planning to leave, so they could only let a few people out at a time. Had I been there to instruct them I'd have changed the policy, but I was busy with a bunch of the security checking the sub-levels of the building, from where explosions were still going off and shaking the whole place.

The Nun meanwhile was able to round up the rest of the group with a huge "I told you so", and set about heading away from the party. The main exits were clogged and too dangerous, so they'd head for a back way. So heading away from the main hall of the party, they made up the main stairs, but in doing so That Girl caught sight of them.

Amazingly persistent, my partner was able to muster the strength to head after her. She was still making her way through the crowd and hadn't really picked a route yet so he could easily track her. It was when she paused, seeing the rest of the group retreating up the main stairs that he was able to get the jump on her, handcuffing her replacement arm and attempting the other. Seeing what she was after though she'd had enough, and responded to him with disinterest. Grabbing ahold of him she drove several barbed rivets with her arm into where she gauged his spine was, to leave him crippled and dying on the floor amidst all the fleeing people. Given the chaos, no one thought to stop and see, or help him, so it worked perfectly for her.

She leaned down using her replacement leg to step on and break off the handcuffs, and then was on her way, pursuing the rest of the group. Breaking away from the party she headed up the main staircase.

Now the rest of the party in turn, were headed through hallways to try and reach a back exit, several security guards assisting, trying to get them and the Prince out. Notably, only the Industrialist was not with them, which would later prove to be a help on our part. As they were heading down the main corridor off the staircase, in reaching the end though they caught sight of That Girl reaching the top of the stairs and starting down the corridor they had.

Right away one of the group figured he'd take her down ("She's just one woman!"), and stayed behind with several of the security. The Nun didn't believe he'd stand a chance though and after much convincing was able to get the rest of the group to move on. This was only till That Girl was about fifty feet away though so they had lost their head start on her. They proceeded along the exit route, while the guy and security stayed behind. He was the fighter of the group so along with several armed guards figured she was toast.

Well we got a sight into how much she had enhanced herself, as she made quick work of the guards, and did not take considerably longer with the PC, doing to him what she did to my partner, leaving him with rivets in his back and neck to bleed out. Admiring her handiwork she continued on.

The rest of the group proceeded on through rooms and hallways, and were to reach a main corridor that would lead to the kitchens and exit. Upon reaching it though, the door only led to rubble. One of the bombs, in fact the only bomb at the event had been placed there, and though it was much smaller as to not even be noticeable from where the party was taking place, it had done the job of caving in the exit.

While standing there trying to figure out what to do (the room they were in appeared to be a recital room with a piano and some stands but not much else), That Girl caught up, entering and closing the door behind her, smashing the lock to prevent easy exit.

The remaining two PCs, the Nun and a chemist-type character were faced with death and took one of two routes. The Nun prepared to stay and fight, but the chemist told her to go on through the other door. It didn't lead anywhere but it got out of this room. So she took the Prince and the chemist remained with all the security they had left.

I'll say beforehand that these parts that my character was not in, I learned about later from the other players after things had happened.

    >>14704843

As before she was able to cut her way through the guards with ease, though encountered some trouble with the chemist. He tried simply to prevent her entry through the remaining exit with fire and fumes, but she was eventually able to figure a way through it by picking up the piano and smashing it across the floor to proceed. Getting ahold of the chemist she repeated as she had done, leaving him crippled to bleed out.

After that, she continued down the remaining small corridor to the last room, where the Nun and the Prince had retreated to and were held up as it was a dead end. Which was exactly what she had planned for and why she had set the bomb off in the escape hallway. Her intent all along was to herd them here to this last room, a bedroom appropriately enough, where she could do what she needed undisturbed. Anyone who got in the way during her following them there was merely collateral damage. At first we had thought she was after us again, after revenge. We should have realized how wrong we were when she focused on the Prince after her arrival to the party.

And so upon reaching the last room, she entered, shutting the door behind her and breaking the lock once more with a smile.

Again I'll say that anything described here, I was told after the fact by other players, so this is probably a general summary, as I've never found out all the little details.

Also it gets pretty explicit, but then again this whole story so far has never been for the feint of heart.

    >>14704912

So upon entering the room she is attacked by the Nun whom was prepared in the middle of the room. Illora figures she'll make quick work of her attacker, but finds herself unable to progress further. The Nun (with help of the Prince I imagine) set up a barrier of sorts to prevent further entry into the room. They may have been at a dead end, but they could remain here in safety.

It worked to dispel and keep out magic, and with such a high concentration of magic in her body, Illora finds herself unable to progress further. In a way the Nun stood the greatest chance against her than anyone because of her capabilities, and Illora is held at bay for a good while trying to figure out a way to get past. During which time she strikes up a conversation to appear as though she's not fazed.

This could have gone on indefinitely had the Nun not been angered by something said, to which she threw a knife in response. Illora in reaction moved her arm to protect herself, and in doing so realized how she could bypass the barrier. Simply by moving her augmentations, exercising their capabilities, she began to dissipate the barrier and allowed herself to move.

Slowly but surely she's able to push her way through the barrier, and upon getting too close the Nun dropped her defense and opted to attack out of desperation. Unfortunately this was like dealing with the others so far, and Illora was easily able to overpower her. At which point she dragged the Nun over to the wall by the door, and drove rivets through her shoulders such that she was effectively nailed to the wall, facing the bed.

At that point she let out a deep breath, having set aside all the obstacles in her path, now she could take care of what she had intended from the start. The Nun had thought she was going to be killed, and apart from the horrible injuries sustained, wondered why she was alive still and pinned like this to the wall.

Illora simply asked her where the Prince was, saying that she needed him. To this the Nun pleaded with her to let him alone, she wouldn't accomplish anything by killing him, and he was just a boy. Illora laughed in response, stating that she wasn't here for the sole purpose of killing him, she needed him for something else.

Without the Nuns help she proceeded about the room, looking for the Prince and calling out his name. Eventually she located him hiding behind a dressing screen in the corner. The Nun had told him to hide there while she kept Illora at bay, but now that she was unhindered, it didn't help the kid much.

I think it has been stated that she had a high magic concentration, but that she was unaware of it and subsequently lost most touch with it with most of her augmentations. Also this has passed on to the child, which is why it is such a magical messiah.

Here comes the sick depravity. Again I'll say that I'm relaying the story, I was not present either in-game or out when this took place. Viewers advised.

    >>14705655

Finding what she was looking for, she drags the child struggling and kicking over and throws him on the bed. To his shock and the Nuns horror, she began to undress, tossing her clothes aside. Covering his eyes as he tries to get or crawl away she grabs him by the leg and pulls him back, getting a better hold of him and opting to sit down beside him, holding him in her arms.

The Nun beginning to form ideas of what will happen started begging, pleading Illora not to do what she was planning, to take out her anger instead on her, and let the boy go. This was fueled in part by the fact that over the previous months taking care of him, the Nun had began to develop feelings for the boy. They were wrong and she would never act on them, but she felt them nonetheless. It was now clear why she had been pinned to the wall like that, to forced to be watching the bed.

Illora in response acted as though the Nun weren't there, and began speaking to the kid. He was shaking now, his face covered up muttering something, perhaps prayers. She simply held him close while speaking/whispering to him, saying that if he was a good boy and helped her with what she needed, she wouldn't hurt the Nun anymore. She knew this would drive the dagger in, as he too cared for the Nun. It's unclear whether he had feelings for her, but he definitely cared about her.

It was a barrier to keep out magic. As stated, That Girl had a huge concentration of magic, perhaps the highest of anyone encountered thus far. She was supposed to be what the babby is now, except she was separated from her parents and caretakers so grew up unaware of her potential.

When she started augmenting herself, it forced the magic into concentration within her, and when she had the baby it all passed to him, as a way out of her body.

So yes, the barrier put up by the Nun was to keep magic out, what That Girl at the time was full of. It was only because of the tech augmentations that she was able to cancel out the barrier. If she didn't have them then she wouldn't have been able to.

After some convincing (or at least she believed she had him convinced), Illora set the kid on the bed and started stripping him, all the while the Nun begging him to stop. She could tell though how the Nun really felt, and chided her, saying that she bet this is what she always wanted to do.

The kid in turn just had his face covered and was constantly pleading the Nuns name and for her to save him, while Illora removed his clothes. Eventually all she had left was her underwear, and to remove her leg, so that she did not crush him under her weight, or inadvertently break him with what she planned to do.

For those who may recall, she has to be careful with her augmentations when her body responds to things she's not aware of. For example when sleeping, she has to take out all her augmentations lest she injure herself in her sleep. The same idea here, for what she was intending to do.

With that she clamored onto the kid, and set about doing what she needed to do, the kid weeping and the Nun forced to watch. This went on for an unknown amount of time till she was certain what needed to happen had happened (for awhile she was doubtful, worrying if the boy was too young), after which point she drew the kid up in an embrace, holding him close and whispering things to him, thanking him and such. I say embrace in the sense that she was holding him, but he was much smaller than her such that she was able to rest her head on his.

MEANWHILE this is happening, my guy is busy trying to get to the bottom of things, figuring out what the real situation is. I headed down to the sub-levels to investigate what the explosions going off were. Upon getting down there it was hellish, from what we could tell she had rigged all the huge boilers and stuff on full blast, but had them forcibly sealed shut, allowing the pressure and heat to build up. She had done this hours before the party began, and so letting them build up, eventually they just exploded like makeshift steam/pressure bombs. Their intent I believe was simply to induce chaos into the party, as well as to mask the detonation of the bomb she had planted in the escape arm. Either way, we needed to shut down those that had not yet exploded as ones were still going off, and assess the damage. It was around this time that the Industrialist who had remained separate of the group was able to find me and spill the details he had seen, of That Girl heading off after the retreating group. I immediately left things in control with the security and maintenance, and ran with the industrialist after where he had seen the group and That Girl disappear to.

I've taken care to gloss over the details of what That Girl did to the child to keep things PG rated, but rest assured it wasn't an issue of fade-to-black, and I'm somewhat glad I wasn't there. Form what I understand, the Nun's player herself started crying at what was happening to the NPC boy she'd taken a liking to.

So, with the act done, Illora held the child in an embrace close to her. After who knows how long, perhaps finally aware of the Nun's pleading, she decided it was time. With that she thanked the boy once more as her hands slowly moved from his head and back to his neck, at which point she began to apologize. Only a child, her hands easily reached about his small neck, and she herself had no trouble from him despite his struggling and thrashing. The Nun couldn't tell what was going on at first but started screaming when she did, meanwhile Illora simply continued to apologize to the boy as she strangled the life out of him. Perhaps the guilt got to her because she too began to cry. She did not stop though, and eventually the child ceased to move, to which she held his lifeless form close once more weeping the while, before laying him down and finally getting off of him. The Nun had screamed all she could and was simply bawling in hysterics at this point, given up on everything. Illora simply began to dress herself, putting her leg back in for starters.

And that's where my guy and the Industrialist crashed into the room, literally right as she was pulling up her panties. Talk about bad timing. We weren't sure what to focus on, her getting dressed, the defeated Nun pinned to the wall, or the dead naked child on the bed. We weren't even sure what happened.

Illora though, ever the kind one, opted to explain to us.

I immediately checked on the Nun, trying to see if she could be helped, while the Industrialist just stood dumbfounded. After coming all this way seeing what she had done to our group and the security, as well as bombing the event, all by herself, he was taken aback at her capabilities and realized we were right all those times when we told the newcomers that she was the most dangerous person we'd come across.

Eventually he just simply shouted at her, asking what she had done, and why. Once she had a bra on she answered his questions, picking up the dead child in response to show us. She said something along the lines that "This boy gave me something special, I'll be sure to use it well."

At that I'd heard enough, and rushed into her, tackling and knocking her into a cabinet. She dropped the body in the process, which as people who are familiar will remember, caused the rivets embedded in it's head to dislodge and fall beneath the cabinet (after strangling him she drove about three rivets through his head to make it appear as though he'd been assassinated, it would later play into her alibi). I started wresting trying to pin her to the ground in a way she could not escape, but she managed to get a lucky one in and toss me off.

The Industrialist took up where I left off, pulling out a gun an shooting at her. Two of the shots missed though, and the other two hit her in the arm, after which she sprinted towards him, breaking his arm to prevent him from shooting anymore, then some ribs and his shoulder I believe, before simply tossing him out a window.

Now I was the only one left there with her, capable of fighting.

    >>14706573

Pulling out my police truncheon I set about subduing her. Unlike the others who had never met or fought her before, and my partner who was caught off guard, I was familiar with how she was and fought, and so put up a fairly strong fight. The problem was when she was knocked back again at a point, and she just hurled a dresser into my guy, smashing him into the wall. Darting after it she managed to pin him to the floor, breaking the truncheon and riveting his hands so he couldn't fight. After that things were pretty much in her favor, and eventually she just managed to smash him through a wall exhausted. With that there was some interchange between us, farewells mostly, as well as her apologizing (though it sounded more like taunting) to the Nun before finishing getting dressed, and placing the Prince's body on the bed once more, dressing him some before proceeding out the way she came, evacuating the party as if she were just another guest.

We weren't actually discovered until much later. The Industrialist had been thrown out the window and upon being taken to medical attention, said where we were. I imagine that was a sight to see upon entering the room.

After that us survivors were pretty much in a world of shit from then on. The Prince of Spain had been killed by radicals in an attack on the Halloween Ball in a highly coordinated attack no one was prepared for. But it was still under our watch and so we took the fire for it. It would be a long time before we managed to even approach the reputation we had before losing it. In the end, the only survivors were my guy, the Nun, and the Industrialist.

Meanwhile, Illora after lining the pockets of the right people and doing away with the right evidence, managed to get off scott free, such that even suspecting her or accusing her of any such things was punishable.

Immediately after that she charted her way to Spain, showing up on their doorstep in a time of grief and need, she herself about a month pregnant and carrying the answer to all their problems. With the right story, the right proof, and the right persuasion, they reluctantly accepted her in, recognizing her to the royalty and allowing her to become familiar with the country and have a hand in power during the time till she was to have the baby. She even attended the Prince's funeral, weeping the whole time, in actuality over the guilt of how she had killed him. But what did it matter? She was among the royalty now, on her way to running the show, and all it took was some time spent in luxury to have the baby, and some short time after to partially raise it, before she was back to her old ways and dealings, only infinitely more powerful than before.

And that, is the story of the Formal Halloween Ball, perhaps the most significant single even to have happened in the game as of yet. Also incidentally the only instance of explicit/sexual/rape/murder content in the game to have taken place. Thus given it's shocking nature to all the players for taking such a sudden drastic turn, then going back to normal.

Seconding this, getting a new arm should be a priority. As it has been said, at a larger market at a larger city it shouldn't be impossible to get one.

I agree that I need a new arm, however only issue I would assume with non-human arms is that it would be clear to see the sort of arm it is. With a regrown or attached human one or a mechanical one, it can look exactly like my old arm.

Whereas a werewolf arm might be awesome, but it could be easy to tell by looking what's up.

    >>14706892

Well odd is one way of describing it. I see it more as like from the Lion King where the baboon holds up the baby lion and all the animals bow down all over. my guy is the baboon, the baby lion is the baby, all the animals are anyone and everyone who has even an inkling of understanding of magic. The higher their understanding the more they treat babby with wonder and respect.

Now if only I could understand what they're saying.

You could mask a ghost/zombie arm with bandages and/or clothes.
And then control unead with it.
Or send it flying through night to strangle your enemies. IIRC, some of them are cyborgs who need to take their prosthetics off for a night, thus leaving them ill defended.

Well That Girl used to have to deal with things like that, but now she's like 70% machine she she doesn't have to worry about hurting herself in her sleep.

But uh yeah I'm sure there's other people who could use strangling.

    >>14707270
    >>14707220

I got my back working again through a deal with some sort of fey being, I'm inclined to think an old world elf, though I'm not completely sure.

Basically while living with my magic allies for awhile I managed to convince them to get my back fixed, so they went to some higher ups out in the wild who forwarded me to the ritual and the being.

It was informed or knew of the profession I was in, and in compensation wanted any items I had garnered while hunting the supernatural in the old days, as well as any memories attributed with them. So allot of the things from the old Police monster-hunting days I no longer remember. However many of those memories I'm glad to be rid of.

In turn, the way I think it worked is that empowered my memories of being able to walk such that they actually had a physical effect and eventually my guy's body healed to match memories of walking. Recently though That Girl infected my guy with a poison that ate away at the magic and propagated itself, rendering my guy unable to walk once more and nearly killed him. Overtime it will recover, but it was a close call.

Not necessarily, he can always trade for the memories back, I mean he does have a magical messiah baby as a great bargaining chip. Although I would make the deal more like, "I want my memories back and enough magic to teach and take care of the child so that he may one day be the Magic Messiahâ„¢. I will also take on all responsibility for the child's safety.", and less here take this baby.

Wow, you've managed to severely cripple my tolerance for your game in a single blow. Classy DM you've got there.

I don't really think that is the issue here. Now, primarily from what I get all the players (apart from Disarmed Policeman) take turns GMing. From what I've gathered about the group they seem to all be mature role players who does it good.

Consider movies, tv series, books or pretty much any form of media, there will be passages during which you might become uncomfortable on an emotional plane, that does not mean it is inherently bad, as that sort of emotional response might be what it is about to provoke. In this case one character is taking advantage of an NPC another player and her character have invested a lot of emotion into, an emotional response would be inevitable.
    >> Titanium Man 04/24/11(Sun)17:50 No.14707898

You have a good point. It ultimately depends on how far the group is willing to go, but I would say you would really need to have strong trust in the others to go on with a scene like that. Considering the horror stories I've heard, it's easy to mess it up.

I don't think she was uncomfortable, at least not in that way. She said she didn't mind the sexual apsect of it, she was just sad to see her favorite NPC get killed. Which given That Girl's assumed role as the BBEG of sorts, isn't it her job to create situations like that?

At first we were appalled at what she was doing, but after learning that it had a purpose, we've never been in dissent that it was perhaps the best bit of roleplaying, if not the most interesting in the game thus far. It was really tense for everyone involved, scary for those who were being hunted by her, intriguing for those who were trying to discern what she was after. That it revolved around a rape I don't think would have made it significantly different than had it been straight murder.

One of the other players mentioned before that made me do a double take, was that in hindsight, we could have just handed the Prince to her at the beginning of the party, let her do what she needed, and only one person would have died and we'd all be fine.

Again, I would liken this whole notion to the way in which our group has always been able to handle tough or tense situations that I've been told other groups couldn't. We're all just used to/comfortable playing around each other, no matter what comes up.

This is based on you knowing of That Girl's intentions (which from what I gathered, you didn't) and being willing to accept it (from what I've gathered from your character's personality and the Nun's relationship with the boy, you wouldn't). Sure, the end result might have been "better", but not knowing the future is one of the many reasons why such a consequentialist approach often is bad.

This got me thinking, the Industrialist isa captain of industry and protected by crazy lady. Barring teleport shenanigans or similar magical or mechanical craziness, why not remove said Industrialist from the board? As you have but the baby and the clothes on your back, you have next to assets to attack. He is an industrialist and captain of industry. He has assets, financial holdings, hard targets that neither he nor his attack dog can defend realistically. He has to worry about supply chains, payroll, workforce, a million things that support him. Attack the foundations and watch him crumble.

Yes I agree, that's why the player said if afterward. We logically would never actually allow something like that to happen, but in reality her target was not the party or the building, or even us. So theoretically if we were feeling like bastards and understood her plans, the whole thing could have been more or less averted.

    >>14708005

Yes, we've talked about that in a few threads before. The only problem with that being that he does all his work "in-house" so to speak, all his businesses and all the work he does remains in Europe, he doesn't even use ships.

So while I agree that destabilizing him would probably work quite well, unless I'm actually in Europe there's no way I can set about doing it, unlike if say he had shipping lanes the Inventors could attack, or business with other continents we could cut him off from.

Well, I missed more than a few threads so I'm not all caught up on what's been said but there has to be some way of hitting him. He simply cannot be an island, in and of himself when it comes to industry, there has to be some supplier or convoy or something you can disrupt. Hell magic or mundane disguise and some bombs and he should be feeling it as a factory becomes a crater. Or some poor suppliers get hit hard and costs get astronomical. Disarmed Policeman what are the odds that you could get another deal going on with that fey being. Considering what you have said about Africa, it seems that nature is still strong there. With the right deal, you could be well on your way to having proficiency in magic. Also, important question, does magic from Africa lose it's power the farther away it is from Africa? If so, this may easily be solved by a jar of dirt or other symbol of Africa. If not it may be easier to provoke "That Girl"'s keeper to coming to you.

Also if you were to make a new deal may I suggest something along these lines.

"In order to raise this child, "That Girls"'s baby, as the savior of nature and her magics, I would like the following boons of, my memories recovered and returned, and magic enough to protect "That Girls"'s baby till it is old enough to lead the reclaiming."

You can go from there, but try to sell obligations not actual things like souls or artifacts. Its one thing to get magic in trade for promising to fight "The Industrialist" which you were going to do any way. It is another to sell away the building blocks that make you you. Recovering your memories should be a priority.

Well it's common magic, not natural magic. Natural magic is very rare, while everyone and they mum's uses common magic from what I've seen. Natural magic would encompass fey, which I was only able to encounter through high up contacts. Common magic would have a much harder time doing what you're speculating.

I think the more important thing is, do I want memories of crime scenes of a family house after a werewolf went through, of a train of people being plunged into a gorge by magic favoring terrorists, of enslaved people being herded to their deaths and reanimated as undead? Why would I realistically want things like that?

Plus, on the other hand, I don't think any fey would be able to just take things away from another that had claimed them, like my guy's memories and related possessions. Unless I met the same one I doubt I'd get the stuff I've given it back.
