    45 KB A new /tg/ Chapter Anonymous 04/25/11(Mon)22:11 No.14720935
Well /tg/ lets make a chapter. Rites of Battle, fluff working etc. I need something to build in my spare time/disposable income. Maybe we can have some writefags/drawfags help on this etc. Depending on how far we get, maybe even post a started model etc.

    So first up:

Why was the Chapter Founded? Roll a d10.
    >> Anonymous 04/25/11(Mon)22:18 No.14720986
We've already made the Angry Marines, the Pretty Marines, and the Reasonable Marines. Just pick one.

you forgot the two fairly serious chapters that are still being fluffed out on here recently: Emperor's Nightmanre and that other one whose name I can't remember.

The Abyssal Jaws are the other chapter. They're also nowhere near as fleshed out as the nightmare which is a shame since they're awesome.

I get ya, but I was never around for the other chapters so I feel out of the loop/haven't contributed to even discussing the fluff, and that it would be impolite to just force my way in.

So we are a Standing Force then. Guess we can figure out the area later.

We are a Standing Force created in the 34th Millenium from the Geneseed of the Ultramarines. We're a New generation, having the flaws bred out with a hard-on for genetic purity/superiority. Highly perceptive combatants, excellent at weeding out the hidden impurities.

Our hero, was a Librarian who led an assault on a filthy Eldar pleasure world, inflicting serious damage to the population, nearly succeeding with our attempt at erasure.

We hail from a Feral Desert World, briefly climbing down from out mountain top fortress to pick only the purest of specimens for their ascension into the ranks of what the populace would consider godhood.

We follow the Codex as pure as possible. Any divergence is to be abhorred. With our specialty being precision strikes upon a chain of command followed by the blasting of our Chaplains' sermons of hellfire and brimstone. For we are the true inheritors of the Emperor and the inferior shall not be tolerated.

Our chapter strength is nominal. But more then ready for battle due to the backing of our allies in the Adeptus Mechanicus, who supply us with a wealth of armor capabilities so that our crusades against the Dark Eldar, mutant, and xenos alike will be successful.

To you our discourse is addressed and for you our exhortation is intended.

Let the deeds of your ancestors move you and incite your minds to manly achievements; the glory and greatness of the Emperor, and of his son Roboute Guilliman, and of your other kings, who have destroyed the kingdoms of the impure, and have extended in these lands the territory of the holy church. Let the holy sepulchre of the Lord of Mankind, which is possessed by unclean xenos, especially incite you, and the holy places which are now treated with ignominy and irreverently polluted with their filthiness. Exemplars of Shambhala sound good to you guys? The whole thing with Indo names is cause of how we rolled. Initially it seemed nazi-esque, but then ended up in the desert so I took the time to think about the Aryans who are ethnically both nordic and indian. Figured, sure, lets go with that and mix in some buddhism/hinduism for good measure whilst keeping the nazi-esque regime/eugenics views.

What info do we know bout Islam.
    >> Anonymous 04/26/11(Tue)21:17 No.14729860
The concept of purity is important in Islam. There are a variety of ways in which purity is to be maintained. One is through the avoidance of using drugs and alcohol or engaging in gambling. Another is through not eating certain foods, like pork. And finally, there is the matter of maintaining a measure of ritual cleanliness. Although the concept of purity may sound relatively innocuous, it is in fact the foundation of many harmful, discriminatory, and even violent behaviors. An insistence on purity has often been the reasoning behind excluding women from certain areas of life, for example, especially after pregnancy or menstruation. A desire for ritual purity can encourage the belief that "impure" beliefs of others must be suppressed, the "impure" people must be discriminated against, and that "impure" behaviors must be legally banned.

    6. Seven Principles of Muslim Beliefs:
Muslim beliefs have also been broken down into the following seven principles:

    1. Tawheed - the unity of God.
    2. Risallah - acceptance of the Prophethood of Muhammad, a messenger of God.
    3. Mala'ikah - belief in angels.
    4. Kutubullah - belief in God's books (like the Koran and the Psalms of David).
    5. Yawmuddin - belief in a Day of Judgment.
    6. al-Qadr - acceptance of pre-destination.
    7. Akhriah - faith in a resurrection after death.

    >> OP 04/26/11(Tue)21:56 No.14730319

    Well consider this;

Ultramarine geneseed is most used because it has lasted thousands of years without the progression of defects/flaws.

One could argue that it is the "purest" geneseed, in relation to the one born of their primarch.

Now yesterday we rolled up 3 Important results:

    1. New Generation (breeding out of "real" or perceived flaws)
    2. Purity Above All (hates genetic deviation/instability in humanity and even other Space Marine Chapters)
    3. Purity of Man (believe they are the perfect vision and true inheritors of the Emperor)

One could construe even a dislike of the Ultramarines? The "bred" out flaw might be seen as the displacement of the original geneseed from Roboute vs. the geneseed of the Emperor. In other words, removal of the third man (being Guilliman).

These guys could literally believe they are more pure then the Ultramarines, and that they are closer to the Emperor, then even the GK, putting themselves on level with the Custodes. Simply because of what they perceive was the flaw that was bred out. We could continue this further, making their terror tactics, more of them believing in a form of "Manifest Destiny".

Them having a huge stick up their ass thinking they are more pure and the Chosen Sons of the Emperor sounds like it could work very well.

Another thought it maybe we should have a Character/Organization that is similar to Fabius Bile in his pursuit of Purity and Improving upon genetics. He genetically alters marines to improve them or something.

Also chemical warfare, should be something used by the Chapter, maybe have missiles for the Whirlwind loaded with chemicals.
    >> OP 04/26/11(Tue)22:35 No.14730840

    >> Anonymous 04/26/11(Tue)22:42 No.14730875
Hmm yeah it could be refluffed as a Chemical Weapon.

One Apothicary is fine, I think that we should have a hero who could be an Apothicary, maybe have him similar to Wesker, but not completely batty.

BTW one of the dudes from last night.
    >> OP 04/26/11(Tue)23:04 No.14731045

    Welcome back :D

we could also have a hero who takes the role of a more, purger? In the words of an old anime I watched the "Sower of the Ashes of Death". Think of it as an honorary position, similar to Astorath of the BA. He also turns his weapon on his soldiers who fail to exhibit purity.
    >> Anonymous 04/26/11(Tue)23:09 No.14731088

That sounds good. We could perhaps go with he hunts "monsters" similar to what Corax crated when he was attempting to clone the Gene-seed.

I'd think the chapter would first give the "Impure" of the Chapter a chance to die in honorable combat.

Also perhaps someone, at least in fluff, responsible for watching those that make up the Librarium. Since they are imperfect, unless considering their mighty hero is a Librarian, they think more of Librarians.
    >> OP 04/26/11(Tue)23:19 No.14731146

One could argue that their views on Librarians is an end to a means. Simply, a vessel that leads them towards the impurities much like a drowsing rod. At the end of the day, the rod ceases its function and will be exterminated.
    >> Anonymous 04/26/11(Tue)23:36 No.14731275

When a weapon is determined to be ineffective, it should not be cast aside, but remade...

Would the chapter regard Dreads in a bad light or in a good light (due to the relation with the AdMech)?
    >> OP 04/27/11(Wed)00:14 No.14731523

Purity of Man views dreads and augmentations negatively. And should likely be viewed the same. How bout refluffing techmarines/masters of forge as Doctors as stated earlier?
    >> Anonymous 04/27/11(Wed)00:15 No.14731536

Ordinarily, I'd say no, but with their close ties to the AdMec, possibly it could be interpreted as a natural extension of their perfection.

Preserving a work of art that it might continue to display its glory in battle. Not something that any of them would aspire to, but not treated with outright negativity. Where their flesh fails, the machine compensates.

...I can see these guys going really heretical really fast.
    >> Anonymous 04/27/11(Wed)00:25 No.14731628
If I recall correctly there is a section of the AdMech that deals with Biology, perhaps they are who the chapter is close with?

Indeed they do seem like they would fall, I think the fact even in the "purity", "purfection" and dedication to the Emperor there is still that slippery slope make me like them. Reminds me of Pre-Heresy Emperor's Children.

I think I will take some of the Loyalist models I have and make them this chapter with the others being painted as my homebrew I've been working on since 4th. Damn 5th Ed Marines putting me off and then Night Lords distracting me...
    >> Anonymous 04/27/11(Wed)00:27 No.14731666
Good point (I don't know too much about the DH specific rules/fluff). In that case, it seems that they operate in opposition of the AdMech's core beliefs of mechanical unity/superiority. I do think the doctor/apothecary angle works, but you would have to flesh out the biology branch of the AdMech (if it exists, more work if it doesnt) to keep the allies aspect. At some level you could rationalize the AdMech relationship as purely "best armor for best dudez" which is functional but generic, and usually that sort of behavior is seen in chapters that are more augmentation friendly (Iron Hands).

They could be working with Heretical AdMech (Heretical from the AdMech's perspective at least) which believe that machinery is a tool that the superior imagination of mankind can bend to its will (but can never realize the true perfection of a self repairing, self (kinda) reproducing, rationalizing creation such as the organic brain? Even cyborgs have to start somewhere...

Somebody say Emperor's Children? Could end differently since the Emperor isn't around to disappoint them.
    >> Anonymous 04/27/11(Wed)00:36 No.14731743
One of the reasons the AdMech could be friendly with the Chapter is because of the "pimped-ride" that is our Special Wargear from the dice roll. Perhaps we shared it with them and in return they provide good equipment, considering some Chapters out there don't turn vehicles over.
    >> Hopeless Necromantic 04/27/11(Wed)00:42 No.14731767

    >> Anonymous 04/27/11(Wed)01:40 No.14732130
Then perhaps the chapter should be "friends" with that section of the AdMech, as well as the AdMech in general because of the vehicle.
    >> Anonymous 04/27/11(Wed)02:04 No.14732341
The Guardians Exemplar are allies with the Admech due to donating technology they found, as well as their shared interests in genetic experiments with the Magos Biologios.

Perhaps as a special character some dude who was designed to be the perfect marine, wielding the chapter's best terminator armor and weapons while having a bloodline and biological mods that make him like Custodian-level powerful.

    -Cross of St. James?

    >> OP 04/28/11(Thu)20:34 No.14746139

There has been no talk of it. Maybe a land raider? or a Whirlwind configuration not commonly seen but in abundance within the chapter?

How about a Whirlwind that shoots some kinda of Chemical Weapon?
    >> OP 04/28/11(Thu)20:43 No.14746224

Whirlwinds with the incendiary missiles counts as Gas Rockets, or for a certain points cost may replace them with a S-X Poison(wounds on a 2) AP4(5?3?) Ordinance 1, Large Blast or something.
