!!O+eQDn0BBx8 04/30/11(Sat)21:36 No.14769620The paladin turns one last time, this time to the two girls huddling together, “N-no! Lady Tissa please! Mommy said you would save us! Please, why did you hurt mommy?!”
Her advance does not slow, however, even as she cooly responds, “Do not worry child, your mother does not hurt any longer, and you will join her now.” A swift downward swing and twisting thrust, two cries, and then silence save for the soft ambient hissing of Lady Voldire’s white armor.
Three hours later the paladin’s prayers are complete, she raises her head before the corpses placed together at the center of the platform. Hands folded, eyes closed, and arranged next to each other as best as she was able to, Tissa rises and speaks a few last words before sprinkling some holy incense over the bodies and replacing it within her belt. Satisfied, she removes the ring and once more shifts back into reality, startling Quorin who sits at a desk reading his recently gained spellbook.
“So what happened, Lady?” he asks, his eyes curious. The paladin simply shakes her head and gives a soft smile, “I brought them the peace of Loris, that they might suffer no more. Such things must be done at times, and I am the blade of the goddess.” She holds up the pink vial in her possession and smiles again, all traces of sadness leaving her features, “My quest is now complete, and they have saved an entire country with their sacrifice. I will be traveling back to my homeland now, do you still desire to accompany us?”
The wizard shrugs and scratches the side of his nose, “Sure. I’ve never seen Moltiva anyway. Might as well start now.” The paladin nods happily, “I would welcome your presence then, long journeys are better with companions.” Abruptly she stops and sighs, bringing her hand to her brow before holding out the ring to the mage. “And I would ask that you destroy or get rid of this, I feel that it will... not long stay in my possession, even were I to sleep with it.” |
