    I AM

This is your first thought, the blossoming of your consciousness on the rise to divinity, the moment you pass from mere bogeyman or forest sprite to True Fae.

    I AM

But... what? As your form begins to coalesce, you cast your mind back; decades, centuries. Where... where did you begin?

    >Animal - Lion, Dog, Eagle, etc
    >Element - Fire, Light, Ice, etc
    >Object - A coin, a knife, a statue, etc.

    >> The Weaver 05/09/11(Mon)00:19 No.14863464
Long ago, in the world of men, there was a casting down; or a betrayal, or simple cruelty. You don't remember, not now, but the act was all important - for it birthed you, a single mote of Glamour, living Spite on the winds.
And seeking to grow, in a mindless, animal way, you seized that. You spread it. With patience born of desperation you bred further spite in the heart of that first mortal, bloated on his bitterness before you were strong enough to seek a new host.

    >You may now reinforce your ruling Aspect: Spite, or select a second Aspect from the list.

    >> The Weaver 05/09/11(Mon)00:28 No.14863545
Growing more powerful as you drank in the spite of mortals, you found a second source of sustenance - as your hold on these creatures grew, in the little way it could, you felt them taking an odd, perverse joy in the suffering of strangers, even of friends.
With a force of will and expenditure of accumluated Aether, your Nexus shifted and expanded to encompass Schadenfreude.
More cunning now, like a cat, you found a powerful combination in these two Aspects, allowing you to feed greedily on suffering and cruelty.

    >Please select another Aspect, or Reinforce an existing one.

In an odd twist, you found yourself watching the lives of these mortals more closely. Some of them comitted such impressive acts of spite, yet escaped behind the veil of Justice. Others inflicted unpleasantness on those you would have done yourself, in their position. And still more have suffered at the worst possible moment for their schemes, and you have felt the approval of your host.
    Justice.
And so you sought to understand this concept, and be empowered.

And you became a Punisher - still not as intelligent as even a mortal, limited in your way, but a powerful engine for a cruel and sudden justice, an ill-fate to evil-doers.

Your favourite trick was reanimating the bodies of the wrongfully executed, and avenging them on their killers.

Nemesis, then, is your name, and retribution your purpose. Now you stand in the a snow-dressed field within Eversnow - dead trees surround you, and high mountain peaks soar to the gently crying clouds. Could the King have called you here to become a vassal, or have you simple been drawn here by the resonance of your Aspects? Either way, here you are, and here you must remain until both a Gate and Augur can be found.

    What next, then?

A snow owl regards you from a distant tree - you know it to be some manner of fellow Fae, albeit weaker than you.

You suspect the Emissary is a little amused by that, and you can understand why - Fear is one of the ruling elite.
"He fares well, to my knowledge. Owing to the Drift, I have not been able to go home in some time. I suspect I may be a permanent ambassador here."
There is a mild sighing, of wind through bone, and some of the drink in the Emissary's glass fades away.

    >I tried three times to get EnvyQuest back in motion - it had just gotten really interesting - but no one came back.
Your last recorded post on Easymodo as Soundless Voice is in an Envy Quest V thread on March 22, which was getting somewhere, if not particularly speedily. People came. I know; I posted in that thread. Admittedly, the pace was slow- but considering that you never ran or posted in the quest reliably and that the pattern thus far was to have relatively slow-paced threads plodding along for days at a time at that point, it was hardly unusual.

Anyway, that quest was at its best when we were on the mortal plane busily corrupting people. The player base was utterly unprepared to be yanked out of that style and thrust into a position of authority, particularly one both threatened by definition and expected to be well versed in information, in a detailed setting that we knew virtually nothing about. The quest paid dearly for it by throwing aside most of what was fun about it in favor of a massive stream of infodumps. It would have been a better and much more successful move, in my opinion, to leave us on the mortal plane to try and spread envy until we failed and something killed us.

Even if you felt that railroading us back to the demon plane was important for some reason, doing so in a manner other than suddenly requiring us to try and understand, defend, and properly act in a relatively important position in a society that we had precious little information on at that point would have been much better. Making us take back our rank on our own with the wealth and power we'd earned in the mortal world would almost certainly have involved at least some navigation of demonic politics and therefore given us a smoother, less pressured introduction to them. It would also have been a hell of a lot more satisfying to claw our way back up ourselves rather than hear "the Principle likes you, have your rank back".

...not to rant or anything. I mean, the quest was good enough when we were doing the whole demonic corruptor thing to sit through a couple threads of frustration as we got shoved into demon politics face-first. If you restarted Envy Quest and gave an actual specific time it would run, plus intended to be there and posting that entire time instead of wandering off in the middle, I at least would make an effort to show up and get it rolling again.
