You wake up to utter darkness. Not that this is anything new for you. It's been several months since you were rendered blind, and learned to see with sound. A supersonic chirp, far beyond human hearing capabilities, shows the area around you for about 200 feet. You can see the rooftop of your church, and your fellow gargoyle, Hugh, still asleep. The temperature feels cool enough to be night, so perhaps it is dusk? Regardless, you don't feel like going back to sleep after the previous night's disturbing dream.

    What will you do, Gabriel?

    Holy shit time skip.

Let us wait for Hugh to awaken; perhaps he wants to hang out or fight evil...or both.

You wait about an hour, before Hugh wakes up.

"Awwh, evening Gabriel." Hugh says, suddenly stretching his arms. "Man, I said I'd never get used to using names, but now it just seems so obvious. Pointing and saying 'you' really was stupid, huh?"

"Evening Hugh. Good to see that you're awake."

"Indeed. Those days seemed so long ago..."

Look out over the city for some reminiscing times.

"Remember when we used to play poker all the time? All of us?"

    Bitter-sweet memories and what-not.

"...I wonder where the others were taken to...We still haven't found any clues..."

"Evening Hugh. Good to see that you're awake."

"Yeah we can't all be early risers. Or light sleepers, for that matter." Hugh says, pulling a bird's nest off of his head and setting it off to the side.

"Indeed. Those days seemed so long ago..."

You turn your empty gaze to the city, it fading off into a blackened soup a few hundred feet off.

"Remember when we used to play poker all the time? All of us?"

You recall happier times, those innumerable, innocent years when the world was comfortable, and violence was far away from you, in fiction and film.

"...I wonder where the others were taken to... We still haven't found any clues..."

"Well, it's all a matter of knowing where to look." Hugh says, grinning. "We should shake down the local snitches and find some hot tips."

    Mah niggah'.

"You sound like you have a plan..." Use our hearing to see if Father is here presently. "...knowing you, it may have premiered recently as a blockbuster." We'll say that jokingly.

Also, can you recap what we've learned?

"You sound like you have a plan..." You say, simulatneously hearing the father enter in through the back door of the church. "...Knowing you, it may have premiered recently as a blockbuster."

"Hey, this one's from a book that came highly reccomended." He says, a bit flustered. "With a bit of Columbo thrown in. You remember those shady guys you worked with for a while?"

"You mean the oens I worked with for a single day?" You respond, an eyebrow raised.

"Really? Well, it felt like a lot longer, I guess. anyway, they're shady types, they might know something about dealings in exotic stuff, like, for example, rare magical artifacts or..."

    We have eyebrows?

"I didn't know you read? Where did you get books from?"

Then, let's brainstorm about our next course of action.

"You mean to incite the Don? That definitely is dangerous, but we don't risk exposing our identities. However..." Keep track of Father. "...I fear for Father's well-being. If the Don manages to link our actions back to us..." Remind ourselves of the True Meaning of Pain. "However, if that's our only lead, we'll have to be discreet."

Well, you don't have hair, but you do have facial "muscles" of a sort. Since you can just shape your body to have them.

"I didn't know you read? Where did you get books from?"

"The father leant them to me. Said they were old, but the printings looked new to me." Hugh muses. "At any rate, they're still down in the library in the basement."

"You mean to incite the Don? That definitely is dangerous, but we don't risk exposing our identities. However..." You look down at the church, almost through it, though your imagery of the father is very fuzzy.

"...I fear for Father's well-being. If the Don manages to link our actions back to us..." You recall, unhappily, the circumstances leading to you losing your vision. "However, if that's our only lead, we'll have to be discrete."

"I don't want to incite him. But from the bit you've said, he's some kind of magician, right?" Hugh simplifies, hunching over a bit as he paces and begins to speak like the detective everyone loves to hate, Columbo. "So, er, what I'm saying, sir, is that these underlings may ahve overheard some kind of dealings, maybe even went with him as escorts at some point to some kind of a deal. And, them being the farthest away from him during their job, wouldn't they be the safest bet?"

Well, let's try to remember our interactions with the Don. If we remember anything about patrols or anything of the sort, let's start out there. Perhaps we should check out that warehouse where we started when we worked for the Don.

You do remember one place that was hit up rather regularly.

You don't want to remeber it though. It's one of the last places you saw.

"I have an idea of where they might go." You say, taking off without a further word.

A handful of minutes later, you are outside of a great, vine-wrapped house with a large glass window on one side.

Nope, I had ten pages typed up about you throwing things at traffic, and now I have to delete it all, thanks.

A familiarly shaped car pulls up to the exterior, and three people you recognize exit the vehicle.

Still unshaven, still with the same bored look on his face, Renee steps out first, sighing.

The second to exit is Godfried, his dark clothing appearing the same as any kind to your new vision. He is frowning slightly, and clutching a pistol in one hand.

The last to exit the car is the bald-headed man wearing sunglasses, a cigarette in his mouth. He swears loudly, slamming the car's door.

"So, we're going to make the Don think we killed her, and then we're going to do one of two things: 1. Either trick him into thinking we did it and continue being his servants, or 2. We run our asses off and hide from him for the rest of our lives."

"Not a very good plan." Godfried says, checking his gun.

"So, packed up by some strange men... Well, this is presuming quite a lot, but assuming they knew what you were, and assuming they knew they had the right ones, there's a few places they could have gone." Renee thinks, tapping his chin. "Most likely is La Musee. Underneath a small wax museum, they store everything. Bodies, houngan artifacts, even host their own pit fights. Have a few special weight classes." Renee smirks over at Fredrick.

"Though his magic will make your plans difficult, I trust you'll find your way. If you need me for anything, I would be happy to help..." You look over each of them in turn.
