You have been traveling alone for days now across the pristine plains separating the small settlements of the area; and you begin to wonder how it came to this, your once peaceful life, while not perfect, was at least far more bearable than the world as it is now. You remember waking up every day to go to work and watching the clock tick-tock the day away.

This is how your life was until the night the world shattered, or that is what it felt like at the time. The ground shook, volcanoes erupted, hurricanes and tornadoes tore the land and cities to shreds. The world may have been able to survive one or two of these disasters happening from time to time, but not all at once, and definitely not for an entire week. The entire world was devastated, every city struggled to put out the fires and save the population, but there just wasn't enough resources to go around, throughout every country governments were collapsing all over except for the small areas they were able to hold onto.

Now only three years later things had changed from utter chaos to small settlements trading and trying to thrive in this new world; and you are just one of the people trying to make your way in the world. So now the big question: who are you?

Will probably end up doing that, though since we actually have a vote you win by default.

You are Penny an 18 Year old female that has been traveling towards a new settlement for days now, and finally your journey is almost over. You can see a water tower in the distance, though now that you are almost to a town what is it that you do, after all three years is a long time to start learning a trade.

(are you a merchant-in-training set off on her own, a thief that barely escaped the last town, a survivalist that enjoys travelling through the wilderness or something else?)

How's this? We're a sort of jack of all trades, seemingly just another traveller with a knack for repairs, a tolerably decent shot, and willing to do the sort of minor tasks that it's nice to have an outsider do. It's not until we're long gone that they find we're helped ourself to some light, tradable goods/knickknacks.

That's why we didn't touch the panel. Too vital for them not to chase us, too heavy for us to carry, and we'd just arrived anyway. Hadn't had time to look around for our kind of goods.

No idea what happened to it, but they were on the money for all the wrong reasons.

You are a young thief that quite suddenly, and through no fault of your own naturally, got accused of trying to take components to the solar panels in the last settlement you lived in. As it is now you hope for a new start here, with fresh faces and a wealth of new opportunities something fun is sure to show up; especially with your varied set of skills.

You have bellow average strength, but you make up for it with an above average agility and intelligence, and to round it off an average charisma.

You find yourself quite close to the town now, it seems that it is a small collection of houses and possibly a shop or two, all made of wood, though in the center of the town a single stone building stands, quite probably the town hall and jail house given your knowledge of how settlements of the area are built. Surrounding the settlement on the far side you see a large field of grain and near the houses some vegetable gardens seem to be the main source of food for this settlement.

You can see some children running through the streets of the town and some adults going about their business, no one seems to have noticed you walking to the town, or at least they are ignoring you if the have noticed.

This town appears to be a good place to stop for now, for a little bit at least, after all you have been travelling far to long to pass up at least a little rest with civilization. You approach the town at a walk now, your ragged backpack beginning to weigh heavily on your shoulders now that the possibility of a nice room, with warm food, and maybe even a warm bath float into your mind.

Walking through the streets the people tend to avoid you, though this is not uncommon, you don't look distressed and they have to much to do as it is without taking time to worry about some traveler that will probably be gone in a days time.

You are almost to the town hall when a little boy with a broomstick horse skips up to you.

"Whatcha' doin' here lady?" he asks inquisitively.

Would be nice to find a computer. Need to be careful though. We're not the only with light fingers, and an ipod, even a battered and cracked-screened one, is worth its weight in gold dust these days. Mind you, so's the battery-charger we nabbed a while back, but we're pretty sure no one's coming after us for it.

Also, we'd best check the saloon or bar, if there's one and the kid doesn't help. Those tend to have work.

You notice that there seems to be a distinct lack of technology in this shop, though that may be because technology is a big temptation now that so little of it works, and generally it isn't kept out in the open in a spot strangers tend to wander.

An older man behind the counter looks up to you as you enter and a warm smile crosses his face, "Welcome to Jim's General store, I am Jim and I don't believe I have ever seen your face around these parts before, how can I be of service young lady?"

"Well a place like this always has something that needs doing," he says looking at you appraisingly, "as for that old tractor you can have a look at it if you want but I am not sure how much can actually be done with the parts we have here. If you were able to fix it though that would do this town a world of good and I think we could see about helping get you set up for your travels."
