    >>"...so Mrs. Mcgregor was wanted for more than just borrowed currency?" You ask them.

    >>"Mr. McGregor was the one who borrowed the currency. And taught the Don most of what he knows about sorcery." Renee says quickly, a look of relief on his face.

    >>"If she is in danger, then we must hurry."

    >>"My thoughts exactly." He responds.

    >>You burst into the house, finding it to be a mess. Broken china and wood is strewn about the open foyer. You can see a distance up the stairs to the second floor and into the living room, each in a similar state.

    >>"Alright; me and Hugh will check downstairs." You say, reaching out with your sonar. Fredrick gives you an odd look as you do.

    >>You notice something odd a ways off. Seemingly, a wavy, solid surface, and behind it, an odd, eyeless creature with seemingly wavy skin, spindly limbs, and small, slender spines.

One of them seems to notice your sound, and lets out a noise of its own. It is a deep, thick buzz, audible down at the end of your hearing range. You can see it move in the air, like a massive fist hurtling and twisting down corridors, disrupting your vision as it goes by. You have enough time to tackle Godfried and Renee to the ground before the fist's fingers spread in the room, catapulting Hugh and Fredrick into the walls. The silence after the subsonic blast and cracking of wood is nearly deafening.

    Found it.

It means to harm! Let's kick it's ass (if it has one).

Does it look like it has any weak points?

Ahm here, just took a short rest after standing and sitting all day.

You reach out again, and note that the strange portions in the air are now gone, along with the beasts. Fredrick growls as he shakes his head, standing up out of the dusty remains of a small table. Hugh stands quickly, wincing as he reaches back to crack one of his wings back into alignment.

"The hell was that?" Snarls Fredrick. "What'd you have to do with it?"

"I-...I'm not sure...it appears to have very acute hearing; it was able to hear my calls." Also, mention the sound distortions.

    "We must find Mrs. McGregor."

"I-...I'm not sure... it appears to have very acute hearing; it was able to hear my calls." You try to explain.

"So it was you making that noise." Fredrick raises an eyebrow. "What's up with that?"

"In exchange for my leaving his service, the Don took my sight." You say, looking carefully at him. His expression betrays his sudden realization. "I learned from the bats how to see once again. I did not know anyone could hear me."

"Well... That's phenomenal." Renee says, surprised. "At any rate, now we know. Is everyone alright?"

"Mostly." Hugh says, flexing his wing.

"We must find Mrs. McGregor." You say. "I saw two of them, and some kind of odd distortions in the air."

"Hmm, so you can find them out..." Renee says, looking over at the rest of the group. "Well, if there's two of them, we're going to need to cover twice the ground."

"Hugh and I will search for the beasts; you search for Mrs. McGregor. I think she'll be more cooperative if you arrived to save her rather than us." Nod. "We'll handle these creatures..."

Then, put on our justice face and get to searching.

"Hugh and I will search for the beasts; you search for Mrs. McGregor. I think she'll be more cooperative if you arrived to save her rather than us." You nod over at Renee. "We'll handle these creatures..."

"See, there's no way she's going to not panic when she sees us." Renee notes. "With those freakish things running around, anyway. But true enough. Both you and Fredrick can detect them, we should base the teams around that."

"I'll stick with these two." Godfried says. "Don't want to be at risk of there being no one... Normal looking... In the group that finds her."

Fredrick huffs. "Fine, do what you want. Just be sure an' tell him-"

"Fredrick." Renee says, sternly. Fredrick turns away for a moment, clearly a bit ticked. "That's a good idea. We'll cover the first floor and basement, my sensing of electrical fields will let me find my way in the dark. You three check the upper floor and loft."

As the two of your groups part, Renee smirks as he adds one last note. "Oh, and if you get attacked, be sure to die loudly."

"As loudly as stone crashes to the floor..."

Let's keep Gab and Hugh in front with Godfried behind them; he's the most fragile of the bunch.

Once we get up the stairs, let's try a preliminary sonar scan to detect anything out of the ordinary on the second floor. We'll work from there.

"As loudly as stone crashes to the floor..." You say back to him. You hear a brief chuckle from around the corner.

You and Hugh walk up front, with Godfried's guns aimed over either of your shoulders. Your preliminary scan reveals a great number of doors swung open, and strange curved scratches in the wooden floors. An unusual, exotic scent hangs in the air, like a foreign flower of some kind. You think you see a brief ripple at the edge of your vision, near a far bedroom, but it could just be your imagination.
    >> Anonymous 05/31/11(Tue)02:43 No.15110967
    Investigate the ripple.

    "I think I saw something...over there..."

"I think I saw something... over there..." You point.

The three of you creep along. You can hear both Hugh and Godfried breathing, each muscle ready to spring like a trap on the first thing you see. The ripple doesn't seem to be there, as you go down the hall, but you hear a sudden, rumbling sound as you proceed, suddenly realizing its location. A mass of wooden splinters drives by you as a powerful force, seemingly almost soft, save its amazing potency, careens off of your chest as you leap back into Hugh, driving the rest of them back.

    The hallway is silent again.

    Turn to Godfried.

"...what exactly are we trying to fight here?"

"...What exactly are we trying to fight here?" You ask Godfried.

"Some kind of Daemon, no doubt. Either immortal or summoned through a latent trigger." Godfired looks from side to side, his guns at the ready. "Suffice to say, something possibly just as tough as you, half as smart, and with abilities that shouldn't work in this world. I suspect some kind of telekinetic ability from the shape of that blast."

These words mean very little to you. Telekinesis? Daemons?

"Oh, you mean it can attack us with its mind?" Hugh asks.

"That may be its source. You said you saw a wavy space where it was? Perhaps its abilities also relate to sound." Godfried answers.

"I see nothing like that now." You tell him.

"Then perhaps it is hiding from you somehow." Godfried says, an almost wincing tone in his voice.
    >> Anonymous 05/31/11(Tue)03:48 No.15111448
Hiding from us, huh? For now, let's keep searching. If it shows up again, try to at least graze it with a punch or a kick. Test to see if it can be harmed physically.

If we make it to the foyer, I think it's time to implement a make-shift plan: emit a sound wave. Not just any sound wave, however; make it as odd and aggravating as possible without hurting the average listener.

You creep further up the hallway, listening carefully for another attack. You reach the stairs, and get up into a large room filled with glass windows, seemingly untouched by the violence. Th walls seem to echo sound.

You make a warbling, whooping, twisting sound, and you see the warping once again, in a place you'd really rather it wasn't.

    Right up above you.

The thing seems to be unaware of its sudden visibility. Its gaunt, split jaw is marked with numerous tiny holes, the air around them wavering. It has a pair of long, stretched eyes on its ratlike face, and is dotted with slender whiskers. Its legs seem almost reptilian, but have knotted muscle around the joints and small hooked hairs running along them.

You look up at it, and feel the place where your eyes once rested in your face get hot. Hugh and Godfried both look up in shock as you let out a loud hiss, and the creature opens up its manifold jaws, yowling in two tones at once like a pair of angry wildcats, its voice shaking the windows as it lunges down at you.

Godfried, who was about to be hit by it, is suddenly leaping backwards, and Hugh gets in a good slug on the beast before it leaps on you, raking and scratching with primal fury. You grab at its mouth, tearing at its jaw and hoping to dislodge a weakened portion, but it seems to be quite a bit more durable than you anticipated. A familiar sensation lunges out of its mouth, smashing into you like a closed fist as you are driven into the floor, hairline cracks opening up in your face as the back of your head connects. Hopefully, that should have them coming running. In the meantime, your dizziness and the direction of the weight on you is making things difficult. What will you do?
    >> Anonymous 05/31/11(Tue)05:27 No.15112030
Put our bet on Hugh's on his movie-kung-fu-lessons and Godfried's boomstick. Despite our shaken state, use our sonar to perturb the monster as much as possible.

Serve as a distraction for both Hugh and Godfried, basically.

You scream into its face with every bit of breath in your lungs, its face shaking from the vibrations. The creature wheels off of you,
and is caught by Hugh, whose normally joyful features are now twisted in a horrific mask of rage as he claws at the creature's throat. Godfried fires his guns, the bullets carving tiny craters in the creature's hide. It soon wheels on Hugh, grabbing his arm in its mouth and spinning him towards a disconcerted Godfried, who ducks the living stone missile as it is hurtled towards his head. You feel a strange wind in the air as Godfried fires down at the ground, spraying wood and dust into the creature's eyes. He dashed over to you, helping you up as he begins a quiet, nearly inaudible chant.

    You feel more confident.

The creature seems to be shaking off its temporary blindness. What will you do?

You pounce, howling at the beast and bringing one hand at its eyes and the other at its throat. The shock of the sudden attack, the question of which it wants to save, or the screaming charge serve to leave the creature rooted to the spot as you give in to your righteous anger. You get under the creature's neck as it tries a half-hearted bite, then rise up with a sudden push, the creature staying on the tips of its hind legs as you let gravity carry you back down into it, twisting its head to avoid crushing your hand as you slam down on the creature and into the ground. You feel only a slight shake across your body after the impact, and you quickly rake across its eyes with your claws, your powerful grip tightening around its neck.

The beast thrashes in pain, and a sudden swell tears through the creature's neck, breaking the choke and causing you to feel a thrust that propels you back off of the creature. You manage to spin, catching it across the face with your tail as you spin off balance and land nearly prone, with one leg stretched out to keep your balance.

The creature, bloodied and beaten, lets out a low hum that plays with your vision. It suddenly swells into a cacophony that bounces off of each wall, dizzying you as you hear a brittle crack, then a loud crashing noise all around you. You are blind for a moment, as a rain of glass comes down on you and Godfried, who lets out a grunt just before the stuff clears. The creature is gone, and the glass around you is shattered. You feel a few shallow scratches, and see that Godfried has a thick shard stuck in one forearm. He pulls it out with a slight wince and the hiss of him inhaling sharply, then casts it down on the ground.

You feel the unwarranted confidence fading.

"That could have gone better. Where is that thing?" Godfried asks, looking over to see Hugh getting up and rubbing his head.

"Did anyone get the license plate number of that truck?" Hugh groans.
    >> Anonymous 05/31/11(Tue)06:27 No.15112312
Give another sonar check around for the same disturbance. If it turns up negative attend to the wounded.

"Steady yourself, Hugh." Cheer him up. "I've never seen you look so fierce before; didn't know you had it in you."

"Are you bleeding, Godfried? We should hurry downstairs for aid..."
