    And we're back!

On Brullant, the final stronghold of VoidGate, our land forces are engaged in a battle with a seemingly-endless horde of androids. The machines are brutal, and we are brutal in turn. Ultralisks-hydralisk teams prove to be the most successful, with the ultralisk sweeping the machines into a pile as it wades through them, and the hydralisks viciously destroying the stacks of enemies.

They press toward the gigantic cannon we discovered on the surface.

In space, our forces are mopping up the last of VoidGate's detector satellites, using the comsat station Toaster placed on Brullant's moon to reveal them. Missiles continue to fire from the surface at any units the satellites reveal. We have no scourge left, and most of our mutalisks are gone, but we will clearly be able to destroy them.

It seems that VoidGate's end is at hand.

Keep at it. As soon as a zone is cleared in orbit, I think we should bring a pair of cloaked battlecruisers to provide extra space firepower and for orbital strikes to support our ground forces.
    >> Cerebrate Anon 06/01/11(Wed)21:28 No.15129663
The satellite network is spread very thin, now. There is plenty of room for battlecruisers, if you don't want to wait.
    >> Anonymous 06/01/11(Wed)21:31 No.15129692
VoidGate has not shown any ability to construct or use comsats, and unless it has some hidden reserve of detector satellites, our cloaked battlecruisers should be safe from the planetary defense plasma cannons.

Bring in a pair of cloaked battlecruisers, and have them assist in securing the orbital space. Keep them moving though, VoidGate has shown that it can trace weapons fire from cloaked vessels.

Two of our battlecruisers warp into the system, cloaking as soon as possible. On the ground, a massive rumbling begins as the cannon swings to face their entry vector.

It waits, barrels aimed into the sky, as the battle continues beneath it.

We can fire on the cannon, try to fire on the androids defending it (though we may take friendly fire), or survey for other targets.

Survey for other targets. Those Battlecruisers got VoidGate's attention, so hopefully we can get in there and take the cannon by force.

If possible, I would rather capture VoidGate's technology rather than destroy it.

    >> Cerebrate Anon 06/01/11(Wed)21:53 No.15129878
(You guys are cautious tonight. That's new)

The battlecruisers scan the surface, revealing hundreds of missile silos working to build the missiles that keep killing our orbital forces, two major computer processing centers, and another cannon.

On the ground, two of our ultralisks are killed in the mass of androids, but we have reached the threshold of the cannon's support structure.
    >> Anonymous 06/01/11(Wed)21:57 No.15129914
Well I suppose we should either render it inoperable or destroy it
    >> Anonymous 06/01/11(Wed)21:58 No.15129925
Once we reach the plasma cannon's support structure, use it to gain entrance to VoidGate's underground complex. Our primary targets are the computer processing centers; once we disable them (via super-accelerated U-238 slugs through computer boards), the rest of the facility should come under our control.

While this is occurring, have Cyberbrate work with Internbrate to contruct remote interface devices that can be installed in VoidGate facilities that will give Cyberbrate control of them.

Finally, how are the ground forces doing? Do we need to send in more reinforcements?
    >> Lord Highlander !TE9R7xCZ.g 06/01/11(Wed)21:59 No.15129935
Can we destroy or render inoperative temporarily the computer centers?

    If so, lets do it.
Destroy is the one we don't want though.
    >> Anonymous Drunk 06/01/11(Wed)22:02 No.15129956
Agreed, but when using Cyberbrate we should be carefull, incase void gate tries to, hack us.
    >> Cerebrate Anon 06/01/11(Wed)22:04 No.15129969
Cyberbrate doubts that direct access to the cannon's control systems will be possible without heavy demolition of internal walls. It is 100% certain that it could interface with VoidGate's machinery, but worries that any connection would work in both directions. It doesn't know what VoidGate could do with that.

The ground forces are being pinched between the entrenched androids inside the structure and the machines converging from other locations on the outside. Warbrate would like reinforcements, if we can provide them.
    >> Timetravelbrate 06/01/11(Wed)22:05 No.15129979
Since the battle seems to be swinging in our favour, I would like to make a radical proposition for once the cannons and missile silos are neutralized:
We should let VoidGate live. Trap it in this world, remove its ability to move, to send radio transmissions, to build new facilities. Confine it to a box, bury it as far down as we can dig, and leave it there.
Give it no mouth, and make it want to scream.
    >> Cerebrate Anon 06/01/11(Wed)22:06 No.15129987
The EMP from a nuclear detonation could disable the centers, but placing the blast close enough to completely disable them without rendering them unusable will be difficult and depend on /tg/ dice.
    >> Anonymous 06/01/11(Wed)22:08 No.15130017
Do we have the ground forces to spare to send to Brullant?
If so, I believe that this situation, the elimination of a major threat to us, is enough to warrant that we send in whatever ground forces we can spare.

I know that Warbrate set up a small hive to try to build reinforcements locally; how is that working out?

There are two processing centers. It will take at least one missile to disable each facility. Roll 1d100 for each missile you want to send, and say where you're shooting.

    60 or below misses.
    61 - 75 partially disables the facility.
    76 - 99 completely disables the facility.
A 100 will force me to deliver the message with some kind of gimmick. Haven't decided, yet.
A 1 will be bad. Multiple 1s will be very, very bad.

Gonna take the first results that quote this message. Good luck.

26 missiles wind into the atmosphere and blow the EVER-LIVING SHIT out of the landscape surrounding the facilities. Through sheer luck and Cerebrate Anon's absent-minded neglect to make low-scoring rolls destroy the facilities, the blast zones are far enough away to spare the facilities, but several come close enough to actually disable the electronics.

It looks a lot like this:

    Only with more explosions.

The processing facilities are not adjacent to the cannon where we have ground troops in combat. We could re-route Warbrate's reinforcements into the processing centers to take them for sure, or send more forces and hope that VoidGate does not reinforce the position before they arrive...
    >> Anonymous 06/01/11(Wed)23:50 No.15130908
I think we should take the processing centers for sure. Have the reinforcements that are enroute secure the plasma cannon.
    >> Cerebrate Anon 06/02/11(Thu)00:04 No.15131020
    (Alrighty, then.)

The overlords arrive and make their way into the atmosphere, cloaked to avoid missile fire. The ground forces make a small hole for the reinforcements to disembark, and a new wave of brutality is unleashed. Cyberbrate thinks it can lead us to the power source, which would explode violently if ruptured, or we could use ultralisks to attack the interior walls to reach the likely sites of VoidGate's control nodes, but that could risk damaging the structural integrity of the cannon. Both ways have risks. Which do we choose?

Also, the battlecruisers are idling in orbit.
    >> TUMCAMP 06/02/11(Thu)00:07 No.15131040
Let's head for the power core, and have the wraith squadrons (that I assume are in teh BCs hangers) cloak and take out the missile silos.
    >> Anonymous 06/02/11(Thu)00:10 No.15131066
Go for securing the power core, and tell Warbrate to be extra careful around it.

Until we can neutralize the plasma cannon, it's far too dangerous to have the battlecruisers do anything right now. If they have any Wraith escorts, have them provide close air support for any of our forces still on the surface.
    >> Cerebrate Anon 06/02/11(Thu)00:16 No.15131102
2 for attacking the power core

With its reinforcements in place, Warbrate has little trouble guiding the ground troops through the corridors of the cannon complex toward the reactor core. Well, that is, those who can fit. The ultralisks are too large, and make their stand holding the entrance. While they cut a swath through the androids, they are outnumbered. Warbrate allows Gorn to seize control of them.

As the remaining forces break through, they see a sight that surprises everybody except Cyberbrate: a highly modified, irresponsibly oversized, and almost dangerously unstable Protoss drive core. With this power source, the cannon could have enough energy to fire at orbital targets at approximately the rate of a photon cannon for several minutes. Cyberbrate gives us long odds of disabling the core without causing a detonation, but is willing to try if we wish.

If not, it can easily tell us where to strike to cause a detonation, though it really looks like striking it anywhere would do.

Because of ladyfriends and it being a slow night anyway, I'm going to stop here. Next week looks like a pretty 99%-sure end to VoidGate. Way to stomp its shit, guys.
