Alien creature took over junkie, got hurt in the process, now fights for survival against his own kind, a cyborg menace, and an illuminati. Has bodymorphing powers.

    Conclusion from Quest 13
    > Staying at a motel, laying low with Daisy and Catherine (whose body is taken over by an alien).
    Thoughts:
.. Is there a way to go underground with Jacks memories?
To establish a base in a non-public area, learn to control different abilities etc.?

How old is Kellery? Could she pass as Daisy's mother?

Daisy said Catherine had a monster in her. We know that the cyborg part of her is a cold motherfucker, but so far it's been willing to behave as a rational actor. We should talk to Daisy privately and find out what the nature of the beast is.

Last thread Catherine was looking to reconnect with her human emotions. We know, from pretending to be Jack, that following old habits and doing old things help re-establish some of that. The Creature was picking up more of Jack's mannerisms.

We could try doing stuff with her that she and Jack used to do together. Watching movies. Snuggling. Sleeping together. Maybe they had a song or something they felt was emblematic of their relationship. Whatever we can think of to try with Catherine, we should try.

Although sex between a cyborg and an alien shapeshifter could be hilariously awkward.

Define "go underground", please. As for establishing a base, yes, it is possible. Improving your control on your abilities is possible with some time, and might lead to new uses, among other things.

    >>15602828
Yes, Kellery could pass as Daisy's mother, she is in her early thirties, and Daisy is 12.

Yeah, currently we're planning our next move. Here are some propositions:
    - Rest. This time for real. Accumulated exhaustion is catching up with us.
    - Contact the Wise, try to make some arrangements.
    - Try to find the Fools. Last known location: Madrid.
    - Hunt bodysnatchers for upgrades and informations. We know of one overseer hiding in yellow building near our previous hideout.
    - Sort out the problems with Catherine. It seems that she's not lost cause. Yet.

    >Although sex between a cyborg and an alien shapeshifter could be hilariously awkward.
Especially considering that your very bodies were supposed to kill each other. Not anymore, but we still subconsciously see her as fundamentally hostile. That's some boner killer.

You are a strange creature, capable of taking over other lifeforms to serve as your vessel. Your current host, Jack Winters, was unbeknownst to you a drug addict, and overdosed on speedball. To survive, you bonded with him, but this damaged you, leaving you separated from the bodysnatcher command structure. An individual by accident, you are hunted by the cyborg aliens, the forces guided by the illuminati called the Wise, and your own kin.

Catherine has reawakened, and has become an alien creature as well, distanced from the person she used to be. Her presence turned out to be noticable to the bodysnatchers, but you managed to hide from the incoming forces thanks to Daisy using her abilities. You relocated to a condemned motel that still has utilities for the time being.
    >> Brain In A Jar 07/16/11(Sat)17:34 No.15603049
    Your known abilities are:
    - reinforcing your muscle and bone tissue, making you several times stronger, faster and tougher
    - growing weapons from your arms, limited to one on each arm in any combination:a hooked, double edged blade on your forearm, claws or a spike that springs out from your wrist underneath your palm
    - hardening your skin into thick, segmented bone plate armor, and growing a membrane under your skin, that contains fluid that hardens on impact
    - absorbing ingested organic material, that you can use to increase muscle and bone density(animal tissue is the most effective)
    - the ability to call forth your host's memories, skills and knowledge
    - altering your appearance, includin skin\hair\eye colour, facial features, height, build, and gender, though the more elaborate the change is, the more time and effort it takes.
    - producing almost any kind of drug, poison or acid in liquid form, including sedatives, that you can deliver either at high pressure from an opening that can be created anywhere on your body, or through the wristspike.
    - emitting pheromones that influence humans
    - sensing the mind-link of bodysnatchers
    - enhanced senses, capable of switching to different spectrums (infravision, ultrasound, noise filtering, etc.)
    - fiber-optic nervous system, allowing you to ignore pain to some extent, and speeding up your reflexes by orders of magnitude

You sit on the old, worn-down armchair in the best room you found, smoking the cigarette you lighted on impulse. Daisy is explaining something to the cat she picked up, all serious and strict. She called it Doctor Scruffles, if you recall, though you have no idea where she found it. Catherine is squating in a corner, rigidly staying in the same pose for the last minute, a few strands of stray information reaching you now and again. Kellery is sitting by your side, sharing an ashtray with you.

Staring at a large, brownish water stain on the ceiling, you feel a rising urge to swear as loud as possible. The constant white noise of Daisy hiding Cath, combined with the cyborg's ominous presence, sets your teeth on edge. You almost don't notice when Kellery asks you again "So, what's the plan, Jack?" There are bags under her eyes, the whole thing clearly taking it's toll on her nerves, the supposed adventure already turning sour.

    Wat do?

"The plan? Well, there's a couple of things to take care of. First, I need to rest. For the last days I was constantly fightning and running away, falling asleep, being woken up prematurely and repeating the process. I can't keep this up anymore. I need to finally rest properly, without interruptions, maybe even for full 24 hours or longer. Second, we need some source of food. Morphing my body and pulling crazy stunts is exhausting. Then, we can finally make some moves. Either try to make some arrangements with the Wise or hunt my kin, both for informations and improvement of my abilities. I'd like to find the Fools, but they're out of our reach."

"The plan is we're going to rest. I need food and real rest, Catherine is getting re-acquainted with herself, and you need a chance to rest too. Just because you haven't been fighting doesn't mean this hasn't been stressful for you too.

"I've been meaning to experiment with my shapeshifting ability a little more. You're the only person here who can't change appearance. Maybe I can help you with that. Make a mask for you or something. I'm not sure. But it'd be useful for all of us to be able to move with difference faces."

For some reason, a numbe of rather graphic swearwords get added to what you wanted to say.

"Jack, please refrain from using such language in front of Daisy. She's still a child, and I do not want her learnig such things from you. She's at an age where she is very impressionable, and she does look up to you." Daisy doesn't seem to pay much attention however, being completely absorbing in playing with her new pet.

The swearing is disconcerting, as it was not a concious choice of yours, and you never did talk like this before. "I guess it just goes to show how tired I am. If you'll excuse me." You get up, and walk over to the next room, dropping down on the squeaky bed inside, staring at the dirty wallpaper for a few minutes, slowly calming down, then falling asleep.

You wake up, feeling more refreshed and ready then ever before, the late afternoon sun shining through the cracks of the boarded up windows. Stretching, you notice a noticeable decrease in pressure, Daisy's "net" significantly less overwhelming than before.

Stepping into the room, you can see Kellery and Catherine talking, abruptly stopping on your arrival. Cath's eyes are mechanical again, the sight of it still unnerving for you. Her face is expressionless, though the Professor seems excited.

"Ah, Jack, good of you to join us. We figured out a way to solve the issue with Miss Abbey's constant broadcasting." She lifts the small device you saw her use in the Wise base. "She managed to incorporate the scrambler into her body, repurposing it to suit her needs. It was quite a sight to behold."

Your stomach audibly grumbles, the scent of meat faintly present in the air. "Catherine went out to shop with Daisy. We stocked two freezers, help yourself to some."

Ask her if she's willing to let us and daisy dig a little and help her connect with what's left of the original Cath, deep down. See if we can make peace between the two.

You step inside the kitchen, and rumble through one of the freezers, selecting a variety of beef, pork, and poultry for your meal. A gas stove seems to be you only option, and it takes a while to defrost the meat, so when you finally start eating, you wolf down the food as quick as possible.

Satisfied, you head back, and propose the idea of making a mask for Kellery. She seems somewhat hesitant, but agrees, and soon you are trying to figure out the proper consistency for it. Soon you are looking at a different person, the material you secrete from your palms forming into a near-perfect mask, including padding for different facial structures.

"It feels disgusting. May I take it off now?" The Professor simply tears it off, the adhesive securing it to her face coming of easily. Suddenly, you hear the sound of car cruising by at high speed, skidding to a halt with screeching tires in front of the motel. The noise is accompanied by Daisy screaming, something you haven't heard before.

Wat do? You are on the first floor, above the position the scream came from.

You reach out to Daisy, fighting through the net she still holds while rushing downstairs. All you get is some incoherent rambling about Doctor Scruffles. Speeding up, you almost tear the front door of the hinges, Catherine following you at a steady pace.

Outside, you can see the car, an old Honda, speeding away, Daisy running to the middle of the road. Her cat is lying on the ground motionless, a small pool of blood spreading underneath it. You slow down a bit, and as you get to the girl, she cradles the small animal in her arms, turning towards you with tears in her eyes.

"Doctor Scruffles is hurt bad. Can you save him Jack? Please?" She starts crying, Catherine looking at the scene with a dumbfounded expression.

"Cath, could you help me out here?" She looks utterly terrified by this. "I, I don't know what to, how to, I, uh, okay." She steps closer, and you can see that the hand she raises is trembling. She seems nervous as a mechanical replica of your tendrils slips out of her finger, inserting itself into the cat's spine. "I can dull it's sense of pain, but that's all I can do."

You nod, and sink your own tendrils into the animal. It seems to ahve suffered some serious injuries, and you set to patching up its vital organs, knitting the broken flesh and bones together, replacing the parts beyond repair with bodysnatcher cells.

It only takes half a minute, and the creature is sound asleep, the damage miraculously gone. Daisy gently carries it upstairs and places it on a bed, making a little nest from blankets, then turns around and flies into your arms, saying thank you again and again. When you put her down, she does the same to Catherine, to her surprise. She's confused for a second, then returns the hug with the faint shadow of a smile.

Cats have semi-prehensile spines, and are host to a type of bacteria with mild psychotropic effects on humans. Anyway, on to the more pressing matters. Mask for Kellery needs improvement. Let's drop it for now, we have other problems. We are finally well rested and fed. What do we do? Talk, infiltrate or hunt? Or maybe something else entirely?

You make a quick mental record of the cat's anatomy, taking note of the way the joints are formed, and the way it's whiskers function. This should allow you to be at an advantage when trying to squeeze through small places, or escape grapples, and the whiskers might be incroporated into your senses, allowing you to feel changes in the current of the air.

You probe Jack's brain for some details, and find that Catherine's parents are travelling the world, likely somewhere in Asia right now. IIRC, Kellery was altered to accept direct input over the mindlink so Daisy wouldn't be giving her mini-aneurysms every time we went for icecream. And Daisy already locked in a super-reinforced link to us, so she could share data faster and over longer distances. Anyone else thinking that linking the four of us and going on a vacation to Disneyland would be enough 'happy' to break the virus' hold on Cath? Spend time doing normal human stuff, and get a mega-dose of Daisy's happiness pumped through her to boot. I'm willing to bet Daisy's junkie parents weren't even able to spell 'disney', let alone take her there, so she should be bursting at the seams with happiness. A little faux-family trip. As much fun as hunting is, it always seems to take a lot out of us. We're in a somewhat delicate time frame here with Catherine. It's probably better to focus on her and helping her get used to her new situation.

We should go after her and talk to her some more. Ask her when the last time she talked to her sister was.

Jack and her probably had plans at one point to go on some sort of special date in the future, we should probably bring those to fruition.

There is a place, a park on a hill just outside of town, used to be a popular dating spot a few years ago, but it's not visited so much recently. Jack and Cath had their first proper date there, and a theme park opened a few months ago not twenty minutes driving distance from it.

You smile, the idea forming in your head. Quickly explaining it to Kellery, she seems supportive of the idea. "Some normal fun would do us a world of good, take our minds of our troubles. You get Miss Abbey, I'll wake up Daisy and get us dressed."

You leave the room, using the mind link to find Catherine, and head to the back of the building. Opening the back door, you can see Catherine sitting on a rusty bench with her back to you. "Cath, we're going on a little trip. Come on, let's get going, you're going to love it."

She turns around, and your heart sinks, her face devoid of humanity, sending chills down your spine. "Understood. Though I would wish to know the purpose of this "trip". There are many more tasks that require my attention."

Heading back, you can see Kellery struggling with Daisy, trying to get her into some proper clothes while she bounces around the place. You wait for them by the car, Cath getting into the passenger's seat while the Prof buckles the seatbelt for Daisy in the back. The girl is almost too excited to sit still, making you wait for a few seconds before you can get going.

Calling forth the memorized map of the city you navigate to the theme park. It's in a fairly outlying area, the lights and music filling the countryside around it. You can see it's huge sign from afar, the words Baron Lake Park emblazoned in blinding neon above it.

You pull into the parking lot (and pay some), buy some tickets for all of you(and pay a stupid amount for them), and buy a decidedly small amount of cotton candy for Daisy(for a ridiculous price). The girl runs around, wanting to get on every ride, take a picture with every clown and mascot, watching her is enough to make you tired.

Eventually, after a few times on a particularly steep rollercoaster, she drags Kellery with her to the Haunted Manor, leaving you alone with Catherine. She seems to be in a good mood, constantly smiling for the last few minutes, though even if it wasn't for the mind link transmitting Daisy's emotions, it would be still hard to not feel better after seeing her complete amazement at the park.

"I used to love coming to these places. My dad would always used to win us prizes, choosing the silliest things he could think of. Me and Annie used to compete who could ride the most times without getting dizzy or sick." The smile is blown away in a moment, an almost physical wave of longing and grief hitting you. "Well, Catherine did."

She returns the squeeze, rewarding you with a smile you haven't seen for days. You stay like that, reclining against a guard rail, the crowd surging around you, lights of a thousand colour filling the evening sky, the warm smell of popcorn and cotton candy drifting on a mild breeze.

The peace only lasts for a few minutes though, when you can feel a presence towering above the area, suddenly focusing and striking down like a hammer, shattering Daisy's cloaking net. You immediately reach out to her, sensing her panic.

"Jack, the big one from the yellow house found us, and a lot of them are coming here." She rumbles in your head for the proper designations, finally finding them. "There are ten Warriors, seven Dragons, and forty Infiltrators coming, and they'll be here soon! I don't think I can hide us right now, the big one nows what to look for."

We can't fight that many enemies alone. Daisy's not ready to fight, but Catherine could. Even between her and us we'd probably still be committing suicide to try and kill them all. We're going to need help.

Daisy and Kellery should evacuate alone. We need to kill that "big one" and cut off the enemy's ability to track Daisy.

"Catherine we need to buy them time to get away. We have to kill the one that's tracking them. The enemy has a big force: ten warriors, seven dragons, forty infiltrators. We can't kill all of that alone. We may not even be able to get close to their controller with that much cover. Can you put in a call to the Wise and let them know about the enemy in this area? >Just to clarify, the Overseer isn't actually in the incoming group, it is directing the attack from the safety of it's den in the city.

You quickly meet up with Kellery and Daisy, and explain your plan. Catherine doesn't seem thrilled by the idea of leaving you alone, but one look at the other two's fearful expressions convinces her otherwise. Instead, she steps up to you, grabs your shoulders, stands on her toes, and gives you a long, deep kiss. "Stay safe, okay? Just, come back." She keeps looking at you for a second while walking backwards, then turns around to jog after the Prof and Daisy. You stand there looking dumb for a second, the whole thing catching you by surprise. With a slight metallic aftertaste in your mouth, you look around, spotting a security guard nearby.

Explaining your made-up story to him, he seems rather incredulous. "So, you saw a gun poking out of a guys pocket?" You bring out your best concerned citizen act, nodding enthusiastically. "Yeah, caucasian guy, late teens, black hoodie, all jittery and nervous. I didn't dare to do something, but I'm really getting worried."

He wipes his sweaty brow, then turns away, barking a qucik report into his walkie talkie. Soon, an annoucement comes through the park speakers, some bogus story about possible mechanical malfunctions. The guards herd the crowd towards the exits, slowly scanning through them, trying to find your gunman.

The guard comes back, looking rather suspiciously at you. "You're going to have to wait with us, buddy, don't want you bailing if the story turns out to be full of shit, ya know?" You look up into the sky, spotting the flares of the Dragon bio-jets closing in. You could swear you heard the rumble of a convoy of vehicles in the distance, but the roar of the jets is starting to block out all other noise. The guard looks up as well, squinting his eyes trying to make out what's going on. "What the fuck, another jet sortie? The hells going on in this city."

There are several one meter tall, two meter long guard rails scattered around, each a separately standing piece. There are several metal benches as well, and the ride beside you has some rather impressive metal spikes, almost two meters long.

The guard barely has enough time to look surprised before collapsing, and you tuck him carefully away into a secure booth. You spot a seemingly good spot, and hide behind a large aluminum plate, garishly decorated with advertisement for the rides. The roar of the jets gets deafening soon, and four of the creatures land while three circle around, trying to spot you.

You tense, preparing for the fight, but this turns out to be a bad idea, the bolts fixing the plate in place tearing out from the force. You roll backwards into the middle of the Dragons, as surprised about this turn of events as you are. Jumping bakc on your feet, you manage to grab one of them by it's long, finned tail, flinging him around like a makeshift club in your panic. The one you hit is reduced to a pulp, and you swing your newfound weapon around, bashing another one against a wall, it's spine audibly breaking from the impact. Throwing the bloody mess in your hands away, you dodge to the side, the blast of liquid flame coming from the last one on the ground spreading on a hotdog stand, the substance sticking to it like a gel. You charge it, the blade sprouting from your arm, piercing the armour on it's head from a downward thrust. You kick it away, freeing yourself, the corpse bowling through the guard rails, sending them flying. The three in the air start to dive on you, the first's chest smashed in by a gaurd rail you throw underhandedly. You leap, snatching the remaining thwo from the air, slamming them against the ground, pinning them down with one hand each.

From the sounds, you estimate that you have thirty seconds until the Warriors arrive. Do you try to absorb them, or would you rather finish them off and try to find a better location to face the Warriors in?
