Once, long ago, a great evil threatened to destroy the world. A band of great heroes gathered to drive the evil back, and peace was restored to the realms of Men. As time passed, the heroes' deeds were forgotten, and the great evil became a bogeyman, used by old wives to scare children. In its place, a myriad lesser evils arose, petty tyrants feuding between themselves, tearing realms apart for the sake of power, greed or fear. This is the world to which you have been born, the world of Entia. In time, you may rise to become a great leader of men, a Lord with splendid castles in which to dwell and a mighty army at your beck and call.

But before all that can begin, which REALM do you hail from?

TIRELIA - The Breadbasket of the East, a mighty realm with a proud chivalric tradition, vast fields of grain and mountains rich with ore, where noble houses vye for influence under the watchful eye of old King Bertram the Even-Handed.

Starting CLASSES: Soldier, Knight, Archer, Cavalier, Priest, Pegasus Knight

WARGYLL - The Lawless Realms of the North, where petty barons and pirate lords prey on the weak, where death comes easy, the nights are long and the ale is strong. A land where you live or die by your wits and your weapon.

Starting CLASSES: Warrior, Thief, Mercenary, Soldier, Shaman, Pirate

ASCEBE - The Merchant Kingdom of the South, a place of refinement and learning, but also of scheming and treachery. The great halls of the University of Magic are a resplendent sight, but don't be dazzled by the finery: to be a noble in this realm is to be embroiled in endless webs of politicking and rivalry.

Starting CLASSES: Mercenary, Myrmidon, Thief, Troubadour, Mage, Wyvern Knight

RAKDON - The Crumbling Empire of the West, an ancient colossus that once shone with splendor, now all but torn apart by warring steppe-lords and the inaction of a weak, corrupt dynasty. Rakdonians are proud and haughty, dwelling on old achievements.

Starting CLASSES: Myrmidon, Archer, Nomad, Monk, Cavalier, Knight

    Game information follows:

    Playing the GAME:

    * During intermissions, PLAYERS suggest actions and decisions for the LORD character and other characters in the retinue. When resolving tasks, roll d10. Low is good, high is bad.

    * During battle sequences, PLAYERS give orders to both the LORD and characters in the retinue. A player can also assume the role of a character in the retinue and advise the Lord and fight in-character. Conflict resolution in battles is done using the system in http://www.megaupload.com/?d=83XBIDL9

    * For the first few missions, the LORD's retinue will consist only of characters from the starting class selection of the realm /tg/ chooses. After that, additional classes will be available for recruitment during missions.

    ASCEBE: WYVERN KNIGHT selected.

You are Kalen, firstborn of the minor House Radostan. As you grew up, your parents quickly discovered that your main areas of interest were neither the study of magical tomes, nor the games of scheming and backstabbing so common to nobles in the Ascebian Court. Instead, you spent your waking hours on saddleback, soaring in the skies above Templecourt Keep with your favorite vyvern, Sam, a prized steed that your father purchased for you (at considerable expense) on your 10th birthday. Having spent two years training in the mountainous fortress of the Royal Wyvern Regiment, you are confident that you can prove yourself in battle. Currently, you have returned to your family's home at Templecourt Keep. At your arrival you're greeted by familiar shouts. It seems your mother and your sister are having one of their usual rows again.

"...and I'm telling YOU that if you try to force me to marry that filthy old fart I will throw myself off the cliff and die!"

"Lenore, be reasonable. He's not THAT old..."

"HE'S A FILTHY DIRTY SMELLY OLD FART WITH A BEARD AND NOSE HAIR!"

You shrug as you throw open the doors of the main hall and the argument comes to a halt as your sister turns towards you. A smile replaces the frown on her face when the recognition finally sinks in. She runs up to embrace you.

"Brother! It's been far too long. You've been holed up there in the mountain with those hideous creatures..."
"Wyverns are actually very intelligent," you begin but she interrupts you, "those SOLDIERS I mean!"

"So, what is this about a marriage?" you ask both Lenore and mother. They both lower their heads, and explain the situation in a somber tone. It appears your father's illness has worsened, the healers' efforts seem to be in vain. And while father has been bedridden, the House's business has suffered greatly. A marriage to a wealthy House seems inevitable if the family is to keep its status at the Court. Lenore shakes her head when she hears this. "I will never agree to marry that old fool Lord Cardoz. Never!"

There is always an alternative. Many from other nations would flog their families to get a backdoor way into having influence here. And it would give us another way to bring profit to our house.

P.S. Surely the character would know more about this sort of thing, such as potential suitors. Obviously we don't know shit.

The thought of having to effectively sell your sister into servitude to a perverted merchant doesn't sit well with you. Unfortunately, the time you spent studying the art of war wasn't very conductive to locating potential suitors. You can think of a few good knights in your class, but they are all poor or born of low stock. Your mother begins to list the reasons lord Cardoz is a good alternative: He's an old friend and ally, and he has good standing with the Court, being the headmaster of the University.

"No, there must be another way." You cut her off decisively. Mother looks towards you with tears in her eyes...

And the door opens, letting in your seneschal. "Pardon my intrusion, Myladies, mylord, but there are urgent news. A rider from our caravan just came to the keep. He says our wagons, with all our goods, has been intercepted by bandits."

"Intercepted?" Mother freezes, in shock. Lenore explains that the caravan was carrying the meager profits of the family's latest trading venture, but far more importantly, it was also loaded with an exotic potion, far more potent than a regular vulnerary, that was to be given to Father. If he doesn't get the potion on time...

In order to recover the stolen goods, you must ride out to search for the bandits. You may bring 2 additional characters with you. Select from the permitted starting classes, and pick a name for each (and preferably, a brief background).

The old barracks of your family Keep have the familiar smell of ale, sweat and cellar mold. As you descend you are greeted by your family's oldest retainer, Esau. You need not explain the situation, since he was the one that first spotted the messenger. He frowns as he ponders the task.

"Bandits, you say? This close to the capital? No regular robber's band is this bold. Someone must have paid a good sum to the guard captain to ignore that particular stretch of the Highway. That, or they've got their hands on a schedule for the patrols. Either way, this might mean trouble."

Valus is summoned from the library. He is happy to see you. "If only the circumstances were happier, young master." He sighs, and you ponder why he insists on calling you "young master" when he himself is only 2 years older than you. Mages have a need to appear old and wise, you guess.

Your preparations are complete. Your men ride out, while you whistle a complex signal, summoning your Wyvern from the air. Sam has been hunting, and he looks at you as if expecting a battle. You spur him on and climb high into the air, surveying the area. It is not long until you reach the place where your convoy was intercepted.

"They wouldn't have stayed on the highway," you reckon, "since they'd attract too much attention." Soaring above the woods, you soon manage to spot a group of axe-wielding men in a clearing. Signaling your men, you descend onto the battlefield. A few of the bandits have bows, and even though you fly with the sun at your back, one of them spots you. You pull hard on Sam's reins, turning away from the arrow being trained on you. The archer takes a shot but it passes you harmlessly; however, he manages to raise the alarm. Now the bandits are prepared for you.

Not that I'm complaining, but is there a reason our presumably lvl 1 merc has an axe, given that he won't use it for another 20 levels?

Also, which one of the bandits has a name and portrait, thereby making him the boss?

Also, since the green one isn't a recruit...
    Kalen 1N 5W
    Esau 4W
    Valus 4W

Plan is to get to the forests, using them as cover. Esau baits the bandits, Valus and Kalen finish them off. This goes doubly true for the archers. If the caravan can move, hopefully it can break east, away from danger.

Okay, I see your point. But Kalen is using a lance that's weak against axes.
If you move him down, he can become vulnerable to 2 bandits, rather than just one.
    How's this:

    Kalen: Move 1S 3E Attack N
    Valus: Attack 2S 1E
    Esau: Move 2S 1E Attack E

Esau is using a sword, which is strong against the axe wielded by the west bandit that could try to attack him.
