A continent whose history is shrouded in myth. Some say the FIRST! People came here hundreds of years ago in a flash of light, from a completely different world. Others say that human kind has ALWAYS existed here, and that that is just a myth. Whatever the case, it is a place plagued by war.

You are Lord Bidhill of Dessex, the smallest territory within the lands of /tg/. You are currently at war with your only neighboring territory, Umbra, who, in an attempt of a hostile takeover, killed the previous lord while he was attempting to negotiate a truce under a white flag.

Now, Dessex is about to make its first strike against the hated Umbrans, in an attempt to secure a route into the nearby territory of Blackmoor, where they will hopefully find allies to aid them in the coming war.

You are speaking with Soren, your Spymaster, about a possible leak in your network that may have allowed the Werewolves to know you were coming and set up an ambush.

"Sir Erik Norton, the man who was... rather vocal, about his opinions on my ability, is one of the more obvious candidates, given his recent outbursts, but we should not jump to conclusions."

Soren nods slowly, sipping more tea. He sets the empty cup on the table, and a Birdie fills it.

"I have been watching him for some time... And I believe you may be correct. The man's holdings are quite close to the border..."

Soren lifts his cup, as if staring at his own reflection in the tea.

"And he was set to marry into quite a bit of Umbran money before the war began."

The fool wouldn't know a cunning ploy if it attacked him at dinner with a poisoned dagger. Our real adversary is probably not the good sir Norton, but he bears watching all the same. Also, Norton would make an excellent example for other would-be traitors should we find evidence of his...malingering. For our enemy to show their hand by acting on their spy's intelligence shows they consider him relatively disposable (which means there are other enemy agents in your network) or that they already have all the information they feel they need.

See to it that highly specific tactical information telling about a "vital supply caravan" is leaking to Norton and several other carefully selected officials. Observe the response from the enemy, if any. We will find our traitors.

Also, discretely check Soren's loyalty and those of his underlings. It's nothing personal, but we have to be sure.

You take a sip of tea before responding.

"Very good, Spymaster Soren. Continue to keep an eye - or, rather, a few pair of eyes - on Sir Norton. I do not want this to become a witch hunt, but disloyalty, especially outright betrayal, cannot be tolerated."

Soren smiles from beneath his hood.

    "Agreed, your grace."

    You shake his hand.

"Thank you, Sir Soren. And do not think your loyalty has gone unnoticed. Expect a handsome reward when we return from this battle."

He lowers his head in a bow, and, after finishing your tea, you exit the wagon, to find Sir Kahl waiting for you, greeting you with a crisp salute.

"My Lord! The Green Sept is visible on the horizon!"

You mount your horse, and, sure enough, you can see the flickering glow of the fortress above the trees of the Black Forest. It is still likely an hour's journey, meaning it is unlikely that the people of the city can see you.

Now about the siege equipament we will build.... I'm in favor of not destroying the walls, so not trebuchets or catapults. We should take the walls, because taking the walls, will allow us to quickly fortify this fortress agaisnt a counter strike that may be already being organized by our enemies. So i'd say siege ladders and those huge wooden boards to advance towards the wall without taking (so many) arrows all over.

You, Kahl, and Soren watch the armored riders, your unease growing.

Kahl is the first to speak.

"There is no way this is not a trap, my Liege."

    Soren nods in agreement.

"Indeed. However, usually, traps have a purpose; I doubt they expect three soldiers to kill us. So... what are they REALLY planning?"

Your gaze shifts to the graveyard to the east. Hopefully, the dwarven sappers reach it in time.

    Sir Kahl looks at you.

    "What are your orders, sir?"

    You sigh.

"I... am not sure." You look to your advisers.

    "What do you two think?"

You stand, transfixed for a moment, before turning to the High Priestess.

"Akara, now is the time I am in the most need of one of your abilities."

The woman looks at you, gripping her white mithril staff.

"Ever since I first met you, you have displayed pride in your own capability and arrogance to those who lacked it. Show me now, High-Priestess, that I was wrong to think you vain, and I shall prasie your skill until my last breath."

"Be our light of hope, High-Priestess, when no other can be!"

The woman seems unsure for a moment, before her grip on the staff tightens audibly.

    "Y-yes... My Lord."

She rises from Ogden's still unconscious form, and raises her staff into the air. The brilliant amethyst affixed to its end begins to shine like the sun, filling the dark night with its glow.

"To me, Paladins!" She cries, the light growing brighter and brighter, and soon, ten armored figures stand beside her, weapons drawn.

"Begone from this place, spirits! In the name of the light, I banish you!"

The light from her staff increases in intensity, and the wraiths begin to scream in pain and rage.

And with that, she slams the end of her staff to the earth, and a massive shock wave rumbles out from it, along with a pulse of light. The shades are evaporated by it as if they were nothing but mist before a hurricane, and when it is all over, the very earth still glows with a soft, blue light.

    She turns to you, panting.

"I... trust that... that was... acceptable?"

You charge in through the main gate along with the rest of your army, Sir Kahl to your right, Spymaster Soren to your left.
