Here I am. But I'm sick, so I probably won't be able to participate for very long. Anyway, here are somee observations:

After HK controlled by Megan activated Origin Virus, it knew our name and said something like "I know what Catherine feels". I've been thinking about it for some time. And then I remembered that Cath is also a product of Origin Virus. I leave implications to more mentally clear anons.

Just one more thing. Do you guys remember what is Origin objective? Destruction of everything that's not Origin, including other Cyborgs. That's why they're using it only as last resort.
I think making human side of Cath disappear, leaving the "monster" in charge is really bad idea....

You are a strange creature, capable of taking over other lifeforms to serve as your vessel. Your current host, Jack Winters, was unbeknownst to you a drug addict, and overdosed on speedball. To survive, you bonded with him, but this damaged you, leaving you separated from the bodysnatcher command structure. An individual by accident, you are hunted by the cyborg aliens, the forces guided by the illuminati called the Wise, and your own kin.

Using your the same ability you tortured her with, you help Megan as much as you can, fogging up the memories of the interrogation. Richard contacts you, and after making sure Megan is transported safely, you tavel to Seoul at his behest. There, you meet Eliah Gough, a Wise member, who explains a few things about himself and his colleagues. He offered you membership in the Wise, hoping to gain your support in what he believes will be a civil war. Refusing his offer, you wait outside his home, Catherine on her way there.
    >> Wow, I should really update that first section Brain In A Jar !2he8cbHXgM 09/07/11(Wed)17:40 No.16217266
    >>16217258

    Your known abilities are:
    - reinforcing your muscle and bone tissue, making you several times stronger, faster and tougher
    - growing weapons from your arms, limited to one on each arm in any combination:a hooked, double edged blade on your forearm, claws, a spike that springs out from your wrist underneath your palm or launchable bone spikes
    - hardening your skin into thick, segmented bone plate armor resistant to heat and energy weapons, and growing a membrane under your skin, that contains fluid that hardens on impact
    - absorbing ingested organic material, that you can use to increase muscle and bone density(animal tissue is the most effective)
    - the ability to call forth your host's memories, skills and knowledge
    - altering your appearance, includin skin\hair\eye colour, facial features, height, build, and gender, though the more elaborate the change is, the more time and effort it takes.
    - producing almost any kind of drug, poison or acid in liquid form, including sedatives, that you can deliver via gasses, at high pressure from an opening that can be created anywhere on your body, or through the wristspike.
    - producing special material that can be a flaming liquid sprayed out, a flammable gas or a sticky jelly on fire
    - emitting pheromones that influence humans
    - sensing the mind-link of bodysnatchers
    >> And I still haven't compressed all this crap damn it Brain In A Jar !2he8cbHXgM 09/07/11(Wed)17:40 No.16217271

    - enhanced senses, capable of switching to different spectrums (infravision, ultrasound, noise filtering, etc.)
    - fiber-optic nervous system, allowing you to ignore pain to some extent, and speeding up your reflexes by orders of magnitude
    - a pair of leathery wings growing from your shoulder blades, with a bio-fuel fed jet system underneath it, allowing you extremely fast aerial movement
    - superhuman sense of balance
    - four combat tentacles
    - sonic vibrator drums that can cause disorientation, loss of balance and nausea on a wider area or severe pain and internal damage when focused. The effect magnifies the more drums you use.
    - combat tendrils that can be shot out to a few dozen meters, they are a centimeter in diameter, as strong as steel cable, and have hooked ends that lodge themselves into objects or enemies
    - reading and altering the mind and memories of humans using specialised tendrils

    Mutations:
    -Perfect Predator
Noise-level sense, body better optimised for stealth, invisible to digital sensors and leaves no scent
    -Monstrous Strength
Increased strength, speed, and leaping distance
    -Armoured Juggernaut
Massive armour, capable of deflecting most attacks and weathering the rest.
    -Master of Arms
    Improved bodysnatcher weapons

Sitting on a wall a street from Eliah's complex, you wait patiently, monitoring your surroundings, ready to spring into action the moment Catherine arrives. The Beast coils inside your mind, eager to pounce. Lying in wait for prey is second nature to it, and it melds into you, granting a calm you never felt before.

The hours pass, and the sky starts to darken, when a ripple in the mind-link catches your attention. Scanning the vicinity, you spot her, a dark mass with a blue glow trailing behind it, hurtling towards the palace-like residence in front of you.

    Wat do?

Meet her. See if you can pierce through the mental barrier and show her images of progenitor trees. It calmed her down last time. Just do something to show her, that we're Jack.

    >after more than two hours, you can sense a tingling, a disturbance in the mind-link. Squinting your eyes, you can see a bright spot soar through the sky at tremendous speed. Catherine. You kick off, wings and jets forming mid-air, and set yourself on an intercepting course. Time to find out if there's anything left of the girl you knew.

    >>16217285

Well the whole jumping upwards enough to intercept her sould like a good idea.

The wall cracks and crumbles as you leap off of it, the deafening roar of the jets following as you take wing. You probe for her mind, trying to pierce the scrambling she put up, to no avail. Before you could try something else, she spots you.

A storm of projectiles bursts from her, physical as well as energy. Dodging to the side, you move closer, only to find a score of energy lances forming a net around you, forcing you to swerve and ascend. Something large form on her shoulder, and the air screams as it is torn apart by a beam, a radiant corona surrounding the arm-thick flow of energy. You think it's like the one the corrupted HK tried to kill you with, capable of incenerating floor after floor of concrete. But not enough to peirce the wall of bone that flows out from underneath your skin. Charring and cracking, it holds against the burning onslaught, and you rush towards her, a boom singalling that you broke the sound barrier.

She screeches, a sound like a thousand metal panes being torn apart, and meets you head on. There's nothing even remotely human about her figure, six arms with four claws each jutting from a warped torso, three joints on each. A mess of segmented tentacles sprout from her back, uncountable weapons of all kinds on them. Even her feet are strange, digitrade legs stretched out, talons twitchily popping in and out from her feet in strange places.

Seven eyes in three irregularly placed clusters look at you with a cold intensity, and she fires off every single armament, forcing you to switch back to the massive armour and break through the barrage. Her charge brought her too close, and you grab her shoulders, lifting the smooth blackened carapace from your face. "Cath, stop, it's me." In response, a series of spikes sprout from her collarbones, piercing through your hands, then twist back down, locking you in place.

As you cry out, two flat, horizontal force fields shimmer into existence by your side, and and slam into you, closing like a scissor. They start to dig into your armour, and you grasp for Cath's mind, shoving tendrils inside her, desperate to free yourself.

The smooth, featurless face seems to rip, revealing a maw filled with fangs of black metal.

She hesitates. The force fields stop. And you attack.

The tendrils surge forward, burying deeper and deeper. The cyborg cells fight back, ripping them to shreds, absorbing the intruders. The bodysnatcher tissue grows in defense, multiplying, branching and reforming, simply overwhelming the opposition. You reach Catherine's mind, and assault it with images of the trees, of the time you spent together. A falling sensation sweeps over you, and you wake in the grove of your own psyche.

The trees shiver and whisper, moving as if from a breeze, one that you do not feel. Cath is sitting on the ground in front of you, looking at you with disbelief. "It's... it's really you. You're here. You're okay." She covers her face, hiding the burning blue eyes from you, but her voice shows you the tears. "You're okay..."

A thousand thousand growls, squeals and howls erupt behind you, somehow becoming laughter if taken as a single sound. Turning, you can see a mountain of flesh, claws, spikes, beaks, eyes, fangs, maws and tentacles forming and submerging on and in a chimearic Beast. Opposite of it, on the other side of the half-circle of trees, towers a monolith of black steel, weapons, shining black-blue eyes and quivering limbs making up it's bulk.

Strands hang from the two creatures, and you realise that they lead to the two of you. Catherine is chained to the mechanical Monster, fine links of dark steel mixed with shining tethers of bluish light. From you, thin thorned vines and oily looking tendrils spiral out, lodged deep inside the protean abomination.

    HUG CATH!

"We both have our inner demons trying to hold us down. Each day we let them they get a little stronger. Or a lot stronger if we let them take over. But they're both afraid of us. Not just you or me but us, together, that's what they're really afraid of."

You kneel down beside Cath and hug her shoulder, drawing her close. She leans against you, resting her head on your chest. The two creatures struggle against their restraints, and Catherine shivers, the chain thrumming under the pressure. A memory washes over you, Megan buckling and wailing underneath your hand. The raw fear, the mind-numbing terror that you could almost taste emanating from her. The way you could play her like an instrument, twisting slightly to change the pitch and texture of her screams. The thorns and tendrils start to fray.

The strange trees rustle, louder than ever before. The sound of the leaves swaying, the branches scratching against eachother form a voice. "Fledgling Keepers, you who call yourselves Jack of many a Winter and Catherine of the Abbey. Why do you cower? Why do you let the bounds unravel? The Primals have no more power, no more control than you give them."

"Cath, listen to me. Cath. You hear it, we can't let these things go free. I know you did something. Something you regret, something that's eating at you. I know because it's the same for me." An image of three soldiers clad in grey floats before your eyes. Helpless. Weak. Delicious. Prey. You bat it away. "But you can't let it take over you. Fight it, Cath. Please." She nods, sighing softly, and you turn your attention inward. Megan, finally in your grasp. Laid out for you, like a meal. Eyes staring blankly, the person behind them maimed and brutalised. You stare the memory down, soaking it in unflinching.

Then you take every shred of light, every time you chose not to take a life. Every word of encouragement to Daisy and Catherine. The sight of Meg's face smoothing, her worries dissipating as you take away her pain. You use it, turning all of this into a fiery brand, and plunge it into the very core of the Beast. The sound of it's pain and denial is indescribable. It dwindles right before your eyes, shedding limbs and bulk. A small dot in the distance, it limps away towards the horizon, defeated.

Turning your head, you can see the monolith ran through with chains, again and again, wrapped in the strands of light. As they grow taut, it seems to shrink, becoming shrouded in it's bonds. Cath exhales sharply, and the trees grow still. She smiles at you, eyes and nose red. Human. You smile back.

Plumetting towards the ground, the two of you disentangle, and land gracefully on the street. The damaged armour dissapears, and you stand there looking normal, watching as Cath's flesh flows and rearranges. A few seconds later, she stands in front of you, in the clothes you last saw her. "Jack..." She tackles you, hanging from your neck, and you whirl her around, both of you laughing.

A slow clap from nearby draws your attention. "Not somehting you see every day. Impressive." Richard smiles and shakes his head. "Though I get the feeling I missed out on the important parts."

Guys, I'm really sorry to do this, but I need to bail. We'll pick it up from here next time. If anyone could archive this, I'd be grateful, since I have to leg it.

Also, since I have a lot of stuff to do on Sunday, and I'm kinda starting to burn out on the quest, the next one will be one week from now on wednesday. On the other hand, I'd like to try something else, so I'll run a short little thing called Breaker Quest on saturday, starting 13-14-ish boardtime. Will probably only run for 4-5 hours, more of an experiment, really. If any of you swell chaps has the time and inclination, I'd be happy to have you for it.
