Last time on Song of Fire and Ice

Durian gets his slow dornish ass to our castle marries edyth. We find out that Calum could potentially be insane, we introduce Dina to Bran and were deciding on what to do about that

Bertrand has went to White Harbour to outfit his men due to a worrying predicament that the bandits hes been fighting are now turning into mercenaries and he brought back a survey team.

We were invited to Lady Criin's wedding to a Frey and all it wasa a thinly vieled hatemonger against us, we did meet Lord Werth and he seems like a friendly fellow with possibility of trade.

We haven't heard anything rom Ian, at all. who knows what hes up to.

Our forces are extremely meager for the land we control (around 600 miles worth) and bandits are still a problem, our population still is very wary of us, and doesnt trust us completely and we barely have enough people to have everything work.

We are in a lucrative deal with White Harbour to use their ports to ship down to Durian for a 17% fee
    >> Lone Maester !WEQrEleOpo 10/09/11(Sun)17:52 No.16572811
    our force roster

    20 Elite Marksmen Rangers
    50 Veteran Archers
    57 Trained Ironmen Garrison
    80 Trained Sword Garrison

    no Castles
    One Keep
    no Towers

we may be able to use durian's forces if the need is dire enough but it would take several weeks before his forces could reach us
    his forces are

    150 Trained Archer
    50 Heavy Calvary
    100 Trained Swordsmen
    250 Trained Spearmen

    and his merchant fleet is:

Trading fleet of 4 frieghters and two Ballista Ship Escorts

The Trade routes between you and greyjoy will give (depending on lumber cut) 100-200 Golden Dragons

While for Durian it is suspected to bring about 120 Dragons a month

how much does taxation bring in? wasnt it around 300 as well? so that's a minimum of 600 dragons a month.
i reckon we won't be staying a poor shithole for long.

we'll be getting spices and stuff from down south in return trade no? i suggest we set up a small dock of some sort with a few boats due east of the roost at the fork in the river so we can move goods faster towards winterfell and the dredfort. later on it'll allow us to move troops faster as well.

It is mid-morning and you are patrolling the walls with Kelor talking about recent cercumstances when you spot Maester Herla running towards you.

"Sir!" he gasps when he reaches you "Ian's Returned! He's waiting for you in the Hall."

You reach the hall and you see groups of men women and children all clustered around it, they seem to be a mix assortment of Dornish and Southern men but you also see some northerners in there as well. you make your way into the hall and you see Ian standing there with a tall lithe Dornish Woman, and your wife, who seem to be arguing

"-MARRIED HER?" your wife screams as you get within earshot "HOW COULD YOU MARRY HER WITHOUT CONSULTING US?!"

"Mother calm down, its not as bad as it seems, yes she may be a Sand but she claims to be straight from the loins of Doran Martell." he replies and then seeing you turns to you "Father! i have came back from my voyage with much needed men and supplies!" he starts, "but...most of them seem to be fishermen, and wharfmen"

you rub your forehead, "how many are there exactly?"

"about.."he looks over to his wife who replies for him "

There are 950 able bodied men and women most of them refugees from the coastal settlements" she says in a voice that sound slike jingling of bells

a month passes and the surveying is complete, and taxes come in

it was a moderate month of lumber and you gain 150 dragons from them
though sadly trade was not so fine with White Harbour due to banditry you only gather 75 from them and 75 from Durian

and you gain 110 from your taxes so in total it comes to 410 dragons coupled with the 189 from last game

    comes to 499 dragons total

The survey is done and this is what they found:

    Medium deposit of Pitch,
    small deposit of Silver
    large deposit of Granite
    very small deposit of Gold
Medium deposit of Iron (the current mine you have is a Large deposit)

and your market is finished! tradesmen from your neighbors bring their wares to your market to sell goods

Otherwise, we should get mining on that granite, bitches love granite. And we will need it to fortify against whatever may come this winter.

They could see to their own ends while off duty and when push comes to shove, we draw them nonetheless.
They would get training on the side as part of the duty.
And it would not hurt if they built themselves what defenses they see appropriate around their homes.

"okay Silo, you are now sergeant of your own force, choose who you want and then inform Kelor so he can divy the rest up.

Fucking Wow. There should be men pouring from the castle begging for mercy. Sure they thought they had the good life with stolen ale and good beef stolen from the herders, that no one would actually catch them, much less find their bandit 'kings' fortress. Then they find themselves utterly surrounded, their outside patrols either dead or captured, with an array as glittering swords, and fierce looking Ironmen who look like they've had rape for breakfast, who knows how many archers trained on them. Then one man, in heavy armor, claims his authoruty of this land, gives them the chance to run out and give in now, before the bandit kings trusted men can force bows in their hands, before that walls inevitably come down and their heads met local iron blades.

    Take the Black.

"With pleasure." he says with a feral grin "MEN! TO ME, ARCHERS MAKE THEM STAND TO FACE THEIR JUDGEMENT" and with a flourish of his spear his men charge forward under a hail of arrows. which take out several men.

with a steady gait, Slio and his men march forward towards the enemy in total silence, the forward bandits start to loose their momentum as the advancing wall of spears keeps getting closer. you soon hear cries of dismay and to run but they are soon cut short as Slio's Men move into a run, and charge straight into the mass of enemies.

The sound of the charge resonated across the battlefied, turning you yell "MEN TO ME! ARCHERS HALT FIRE!" and you lead the rest of your men in a charge to help Slio hold.

as you near closer, you can hear the sound of death and carnage. as you get closer you can see Slio's men have cut a swath through the charging enemy dead bandits lay everywhere and scattered here and there is a dead dornishman. reaching the thickest of the brawl, you see Slio and his remaining men clustered up in the middle of the group in a formation that looks a lot like a hedgehog defending itself. Slio sees you waves and you can tell he is laughing. With unnerving efficiency his men form an anvil block for your charge, caught between the two the rest of the bandits die without much of a fight

We didn't agree to single combat, nor is this an honorable man. There's no shame in our archers felling him before he reaches us. Still, Ironbeak and shield are ready if he should somehow get here.

    Afterwards,

Have the wounded and those who yielded rounded up. Those who are able of body should be put to work digging graves, so we can give proper burials to their allies.
They were outlaws, but they were northmen, and they still belong to the gods of the North.

After that, tie their wrists and use rope to turn their necks into a long chain, and prepare them for the long march to Winterfell. Have Bertrand lead them.

Check with Slio to make sure we get the Dornish funeral customs right for his fallen, and set aside some stags for any family our dead left behind.

    Hmm...

Oh, and have some of our men look through the rubble and ashes, see if there are any surviving valuables. Coin and gems, for example, are unlikely to have been ruined, and the same goes for armor and blades (though hilts might need replacing, that's the cheap/easy part).

Overall, an unmitigated success. Let's return to the Roost and feast.

You go to Calum's Room to find it oddly quiet, as you slip in you see that he has fallen asleep you start looking around the walls and the new pictures are slowly making more and more sense, gone are the scribblings of before they are slowly being replaced with blobs of what look to be shapes, most disturibingly of all is what seems to be a three eye crow that appears in all of the pictures, all of them seem to be staring at you no matter where you go.

shivering you leave Calum to his sleep and go write a letter to Ned asking about a possible Dina/Bran partnering
