    Diplomacy doesn't require rolling, but establishing trade routes and such does.

    Technology level is early iron age/collapse of bronze age.

    Proper science will be put aside for the sake of the game, if absolutely necessary, as I am not omniscient.
    Magic and SCIENCE! are both possible, albeit not easily.

    This game will be running on very abstract rules (except for warfare, because no one likes to be dicked on warfare).

    Your attempts at recruiting a massive success. You manage to conscript two entire regiments of infantry through the patriotism of Estene. (Size: 2)
    Your port, however, is a massive failure, mostly due to many resources having been pooled into the recruiting process and arming the new militiamen. Quite a few of your merchants are annoyed at the losses from their investment.

    On top of that, the men you contracted to construct your roads ran off with your payments. That'll teach you to pay in advance.
    Your academy is thought over, but the lack of resources due to our incredible failure with the port and roads prohibits its construction, at least for now.

    Albion finds areas suitable for, respectively, a salt mine, an iron mine and limestone.
    Your temple is constructed in celebration of the divine, and much rejoicing is had within its hallowed grounds. Even a few roaming men find their way into your temple to worship with your druids.
    During your search for natural resources in your native land, you manage to stumble into some bears.
    And by "some", there is ment "an entire army"
    Your scouts are promptly slaughtered and the bears are quite happy. So happy, in fact, that they followed the scent of the lone survivor back to your outermost village, tearing most of the buildings to the ground.
    Furthermore, somehow, your house burns down. How this happened, you are not sure.

    You manage to build a grand longhouse, the envy of empires indeed! Unfortunately it perishes in your housefire. Forsooth!
    At least you kept some notes on how to construct it, so you should be able to recreate it without too much effort.

    Many of them are untrained and pathetically incompetent in battle, however. They're not as efficient as more trained infantry.

    You have managed to greatly improve your infrastructure, bringing it to a level rarely seen in these times. You construct a few marketplaces in your capital, and a bathhouse or two are erected, but your roads are only just finished, and thus not many people yet travel to your marketplaces. Perhaps in a month or a year it will change.

    Your bathhouses, however, reek of a fetid odor of disease and some inexplicable type of rank cheese.

    With the king's fury backing the hands of the militia, the merchants eagerly fund the construction of the new port, lest his fury be directed inward.
    This motivation proves more than enough to make your port one of the grandest this world has yet seen! Your hired contractors are so satisfied with the result, they decide to stay in Estene, for future construction.
    In fact, they engineer a wondrous academy, fit for any scholar to teach in, and to learn. There is little lacking from your academy, structurally, and it might indeed be the greatest center of learning there will ever be!
    That is, until you realized you have almost no scholars at all to actually teach anything at the academy. That can be rectified, but for now, the academy stands empty.

    Metalworking proves to be just as fruitless as last time you tried, but at least no one died.
    Although it was very, very close to being the case with quite a few men trying to mix alcohol and smithing, without the expertise to not dip your hand in the molten metal.
    You recruit a small unit of miltiamen. Par for the course, really. (Size: 1)
    You send all your armed men and women northward to stave off the furry menace! Only too late do you realize, that you have no armed soldiers. The peasants you sent to fight off the veritable army of bears is safe, however, due to the bears having left the village. Thankfully, you won't lose the taxes from your faithful servants.

    You have some success with the camel trade, making marketplaces featuring camels as their main commodity a normal sight.
    You also manage to slightly reduce the bureaucracy, but the paperwork to do that was so long, you lost track. It only had a small effect, but nevertheless, it was there.

    Everything else, well, goes to shit.
    Your iron mine collapses and kills three miners, your royal palace exhausts all your resources and is left half-finished, with shoddy workmanship on top of that, and your expansion is delayed due to your scouts suddenly falling terribly ill. They'll -probably- survive, but it's not certain.

    The King of Prussia is indeed an intelligent man, for by his command, Prussia has prospered. The infrastructure has been improved greatly, allowing caravans safe and swift travel within Prussia's borders. Of course, this is only between villages, as remote areas of Prussia still lack major infrastructure. The peasants have, however, learned from your words and paved some of the "roads" with dirt around the edges of Prussia.
    Due to the major shifts in infrastructure, Prussia manages to construct rather primitive aqueducts. Not the most impressive in terms of flow or looks, but it gets the job done.

    You are greeted by some "scholars" from the South. You have your suspicions regarding their true intent, and thus you manage to not get bamboozled too hard. You do lose a bit of gold in the form of goods they stole from the Academy while being shown around.

    Your navy, however, is the greatest there has ever been seen! Mostly due to the fact that navies aren't very widespread, but still! You construct a very impressive fleet of two-tiered "fighting ships". They're able to ram into other ships with their reinforced bow, and you think you could probably build some sort of device to get onto other ships from your own (size: 1)

    Your expansion is moderately successful (see map)

    Your infrastructure is improved slightly, and trade is blossoming in the cities. Your farmers come all the way to the city to sell their goods, and the result is great prosperity for Aztlan. Your marketplaces still aren't too impressive for foreign merchants, but some spices and other exotic goods trickle in now and again.
    Your bathhouses are even more degenerate than ever, but with no alternative, most of the nobility has to wallow in the filth.
    It would probably be preferrable to just jump in the river at this point, unless some serious overhauls are made to the bathhouses.

    The Council is gathered. The mullahs and imams debate for hours upon hours, but they have reached a consensus. The Caliph will appoint one of the scholars of Islam as the grand mufti, who shall have authority in all spiritual matters. He is, however, granted this authority by the Caliph, and not by God, as many imams point out that it would be sacrilegious to claim that God would choose another human as his mouthpiece. However, this scholar will have final say in the true interpretation of scripture, which is just as good for the clergy.
    The expansion south is halted by the intense debate and reformation of the Islamic majority in Morocco.
    Your aqueducts are improved greatly, having used some of the copper in your reserves to coat the aqueducts, realizing this lead to far cleaner water. The aqueducts stand tall above the streets, carrying fresh and life-giving water to the nobles as well as the peasantry.

    Your marketplaces are marginally improved, but it doesn't really help now that your stinky peasants are in the same place as your food. Not very attractive for merchants.

    Your road system is improved, allowing for more camel herds being transported in and out of the country very efficiently. You have even made it so that every road leads to your capital eventually. Of course, they're still not very comfortable to walk on for normal people, but the mounted populace seems happy.

    You attempt to encourage specializing, but it doesn't seem to really catch on amongst the craftsmen. They prefer superficial, but very broad areas of expertise. Still, they do seem to get the gist of it, and craftsmen now individually pick a certain area in which they focus. It's entirely individual though, which makes it very ineffective in a larger scale.

    Of course, they soon realize that nothing especially dangerous comes from something that can be killed with a sword. Rather, it's the journey back and forth that is lethal. You'll have to find a way to fix that. At least none of your footmen died.
    You develop a new tactical maneuver. You call it: "The Raging Fury". You haven't tested it in battle yet, but the gist of it is simple: you incite each and every soldier with as much hatred as possible and then just rush them out on the battlefield. Sounded good to your drill instructors, although they haven't used the technique yet.

    France expands quite a bit, but is suffering from overextension. Resources are spread very thin, and further expansion will either lead to a destabilized country, or in the worst case scenario, lack of resources for every city not self-sufficient. The results of that should be obvious.

    You've finally made a breakthrough in your bazaar technology. Merchants are eagerly travelling to Aztlan, bringing a modicum of mineral wealth. Mostly copper, iron and bronze. There's not a whole lot of it, but at least it's creating lots of commerce, which is good for your reserves (which, quite frankly, were starting to get drained low).

    You send some craftsmen to build a road to the gold deposit up north.
    You never did see those craftsmen again.
    Still, the road they built was fine. It's not going to help that much against the threats up north, but at least it'll allow you to travel faster between the mine and Prussia.

    You first order your royal palace to have all its windows barred shut until Königsberg is deemed worthy of your gaze. Some superficial changes later, and the city is positively sparkling! It's still a hellhole of debauchery and sin, but at least it's neat and clean. You, however, probably don't know that as you refuse to let your windows be opened again.

    In an attempt to centralize the government, you send out a call to all noblemen to unite unquestionably under one rule. By the sword, you manage to convince them, albeit only barely. Still, only the noblemen actually follow your orders. The taxes that they supply you with, however, are more than enough to keep your expansion going for quite a while.

    You expand succesfully, killing every hint of resistance with ease. Three units of footmen seem to suffice, even despite their lack of formal training.
    You don't get very far, but at least you've managed to capture about 50-100 barbarian slaves, or varying gender, age and disposition. Some actually seem sort of happy to be under a civilized rule. (see map)
    Doesn't go so well with capturing the criminals, who decide they've had enough of that shit and go on a small crime spree before fleeing Aztlan. They don't really manage to do much, in fact your troops keeps any "riot" completely in check. Most of them do manage to slip away, however

    You manage to keep the nobles in check long enough for them to institute several new laws, binding the servants to their masters and to their trade. Formally, they can be freed, but practically, they and their future generations are bound by blood to their trade. Mostly farming.
    Still, the nobles seem quite annoyed at the authority that the King is showing. They don't like someone bossing over them. This may prove dangerous to the monarch of France.

    You manage to set up several trade posts outside your territory, to the north. They're guarded well enough for you to not have to worry about beastly wolves or bears or other such horrid creatures, while at the same time being safe from the elements. Good thing you had that road, or your builders would have starved to death!
    You also establish a University of higher learning, but it's just as hellish as the rest of Königsberg. At least it's a structural marvel, even if it is filled with liberal arts students.

    You expand a bit southward, but the expansion is seriously straining and your peasants in the new south are leading fairly terrible lives. Then again, they're peasants, so who gives a fuck?

    You expand into Scotland quite well. The islands are out of reach, however, due to the lack of proper naval transportation.

    A fleet! A fleet! You've discovered how to build ships able to ferry several people around in short distances. It's not sturdy enough to actually work out in the sea, and it's not very big, but it certainly allows you to get to the surrounding islands around Albion

    Your builders are hard at work, building a most magnificent fort of wood on the western shores of Albion. So marvelous to you, it was, that you ordered your palace to be built as an extension of the fort!
    The druids were called from their havens in the mid-north, and convened in the capital to attempt to teach the mystic ways of the green life-giver to the rest of the populace. They went to the palace, to give you a first-hand impression of its splendor. You were out to speak to the rabble, however, and they decided to begin without you. The rituals led them to be so absent-minded they didn't even notice the entire fort crashing into the sea.
    Probably shouldn't have built it on easily corrodable iron.

    At least the plants the druids brought to the capital are still available, and there is certainly much to be learned from these.

    Ireland attempted to begin their protests against Albion, with a roaring speech from their leader! Unfortunately, he had stolen one of the sheep from one of his rivaling tribesmen. This resulted in a battle between the two, with loyalists to the rebellion on one side and supporters of Irish justice on the other.
    The entire fighting force of Ireland has been demolished, and the "country" is in a civil war.

He has been pacing for thirty years now.

    I've got no objections to that division, Byzantium should be compensated for the loss of Italian expansion by exclusive rights to the Balkans and Black Sea.

    Main focus if that division is to be made secure is containing France, possibly by giving exclusive rights to a colonial territory.

    Alexander's genius knows no bounds! He has devised a strange spear, several meters in length. It certainly seems to have potential, although Alexander the 1st didn't quite think too much about how to actually use these new spears.
    You expand to the west (see map)

    You recruit three entire regiments of footmen, all eager to serve! While just as inept as your first platoon, they have a far greater morale boost (size: 1+3)

    You attempt to establish a trade route, but every emissary you send and every caravan is raided. By whom? No one knows. Probably devils.

    You survey for minerals to mine, and find the land very generous. Two veins of copper and one of tin are found, and you immediately start building a mine!

    At the same time, you have attempted potato farming. It turns out, however, that the potatos are indeed evil! At least, that's what the farmers said when they turned sick from the potatoes, which were disease-ridden due to vermin and other critters. This affected your mining ventures, leading to the deaths and collpase of both copper mines, although your tin mine is intact and produces quite a bit of metallic wealth. In fact, you're probably the biggest tin-nation in the world at the moment.

    The Irish are mad as all hell, and have decided to pick up their resistance again! Recruiting efforts are in swing
    You attempt to establish a proper apprenticeship system, but due to the inadequance of the pupils, the level of craftsmanship in Albion drops to an abysmal low point. The masters will hardly speak to the fledgling craftsmen, and are outraged at such incompetence from the lawmakers.

    is a great tool for this. One quest thread I can especially recommend is Ruby quest, the first of its kind I believe.
