Alright gentlemen, let's pick up where we left off, this time with some (more) completed rules.

You attend the party and your brother is clearly very pleased, his promotion showing proudly through both his face and your father's. However, something you are certain to be the only one noticing, he is keeping very close to the Main Branch member who saw him use the technique, and you sense his chakra system is moving at a very suppressed level, like he's prostrating himself. It's odd.

The night passes, however, without incident. When you wake the next morning and change your bandages you see the scars and cuts are all gone save for the kanji for her name, which is now black, like a tattoo. The day is open and you are in your room, what would you like to do?

Well, first we wrap that scar and second, we learn how to break Genjutsu from dad. Then see if there is anything we can do around the house. After that, speak privately with our brother.

When we speak to him let's not tip our hand. Just mention that we noticed his circulation was off and we were concerned that something was wrong.

But before that we spend our points from our last mission.

There was a sensor skill right? If so then that's probably what we'd use to get better millage out of it. Unless a dedicated skill just for it works better.

Though gentle fist works too. Helps get us into better shape for when we go for revenge. Assuming we don't just drop straight into a training montage.

We could put 1 point into Gentle Fist, but Byakugan isn't a skill. Gentle Fist encapsulates all our Hyuuga tech, which is why it's so good.

You find your brother sitting near a waterfall your clan has set up close to you. He is breathing slowly and as you see him focusing the water is rippling and pulsating as he tries to gain greater control over his chakra. As he reaches the pinnacle of his training he manages to part the water in front of him in a perfect straight line as he puts his hands together and keeps breathing slowly.

"Well, what can I say? I'm getting there, gonna have to start working, it seems." he says. The two of you train idly, but mostly it's just socializing.

Once you are done there, however, you meet with your Father who gives you some tips on how to recognize and counter Genjutsu before telling you about something, "I need you to leave the clan territory for a few days. Not for any specific reason, but I do have a mission that I need you to follow up on for me." he said and produced a scroll for you.

Inside it details how there is a large gathering of clans in the Land of Wind, and the Senjuu Clan is calling on its allies to ensure peace remains. You are to go serve as the Hyuuga Clan's representative to the Senjuu Clan, as well as a few others who have gone ahead of you. Apparently this mission will require a lighter hand than others can produce.

They're probably just proud of your intelligence and competence at a young age. They know you're smart enough to be a diplomat and they want to show off.

Your Father gives you a few shinobi tools, some kunai and shuriken, and two explosive tags, which he teaches you how to detonate, though you've never had the chance to do so before.

With your new tools of the trade you head out to the appointed gathering area. Once you get close you turn on your Byakugan and see the massive host of shinobi who have gathered for this. Chakra signatures great and small are all present, but the most incredible to your eyes is a chakra that seems to pulse like a heart, growing and receeding at the very center of the camp with an equally massive signature. They must be of vast importance.

You arrive and are greeted by a few guards, two of whom have massive short-haired dogs with huge maws at their side. The handlers of these dogs, what looks to be a brother and sister, are wild looking themselves. In the center of the group is a blond man who gazes at you and you feel a shiver run up your spine as he lays bare your mind.

You betcha. DBZ? Well, I guess my advice would be this. People actually like DBZ, so you've got a leg up there. Find a system that captures the way the fights work if you take away all the talking. Unless you wanna make it tongue-in-cheek, in which case keep the talking and make it part of the system.

I'd say just try to capture flavor above everything else, mechanics will fall into place.

I actually wanted to put a spin on the Saiyan. Taking a look at the life of a Second Class Saiyan. However I'm not to familiar with systems used on threads and such.

I actually have a little story line set up, but numerous side-missions along the way. And if the people don't even feel like doing that I can swing with it. My hope is that people will have fun and I get to have an enjoyable time working with the mythos of a series I love.

RIght on man, that's what it's all about.

You could make it as simple a system as players roll 1d20 you roll 1d20 and whoever gets higher succeeds in the relevant task. Apply modifiers as you see fit, keep it really simple. Then just run your story.

Take the elements you think are cool. Dismiss those you think hurt the credibility of the setting or play. If you like the idea of the characters having to charge up do that big move or to keep themselves in good shape then add a mechanic for that.

Define the system elements that are crucial to the game early if possible. Flexibility is good, knowing how to make what you want within the system upon picking up (if unfamiliar with it) is better.

Finally playtest playtest playtest. find a group of like minded individuals and hopefully a crunch monkey or two and have them pick the system apart to find flaws and give feedback.

"Additionally, we've heard reports someone very big and very important may be in their ranks, and so we need to be ready for his appearance."

A mass of shinobi wearing loose robes and armor over the robes are moving towards the ridge. At the head of this group are two strong chakra signatures. One is from a man with short dark-red hair who has a heavy drum on his back, the other is a man with a white cloth covering his mouth. A long scroll rests on his back.

(Take a fun 7 damage from the shuriken hitting you.)

Before more can be launched, however, you feel a massive chakra appear next to you, a white-haired Tobirama appears and throws up a sign, "Water Dragon Jutsu!" From between his fingers a huge dragon of water soars out and crushes the advance-line of shinobi from the Wind and either kills them outright or disables them so they cannot continue their attack. The man at the front of the group of the Wind pulls out his scroll and makes a sign, three tall figures emerging from the scroll, each of them carrying kamas. "It's Monzaemon Chikimatsu!!" A voice calls out, causing alarm to prickle through the group, their chakra signatures spiking as you sense their fear. Tobirama stays close and says, "Don't worry, I'll make sure you all are safe, I promise." he says.

A gnarled limb of wood bursts from the ground and catches them as his brother fires a slicing wave of water which kills another rank of soldiers. The bulk of your forces leap into the air as the Wind shinobi do too, meeting in the skies. Those that remain on the ground run forward, kunai in hand, shinobi tools whistling through the air. "Come on, Shingen! Let's go!" Hana urges you as she runs into the fray as well.

(Sorry for being gone for so long guys, 4chan's DDOS attacks and work got in the way. But I'm back!)

You leap after your cousin into the fray of battle. Kunai and shuriken whistle through the air and you bite into a blood pill, feeling your exhaustion and wounds abate slightly, your muscles responding to the battle before your mind can recognize the threat. Five minutes pass before the armies part and you see the weakest shinobi reeling from their losses. In the center of the battlefield the man with the cloth on his face is controlling ten white marionettes in white robes, each of them darting in and attacking, trying to get a hit on the blue-armored Tobirama who keeps them at bay with his water, his brother darting in to attack the puppeteer. While they go at it you and your cousin stop, panting from the exhaustion of battle. Blood coats your fingertips, mostly coughed up from victims of your deadly Gentle Fist. Your cousin was briefly injured, but you managed to find a medic for her.

Aside from the major battle in the center of the field you find yourself looking around at your enemy shinobi. They are mostly around your age, twelve to sixteen. Any adults are either engaging on another part of the battlefield, or already slain. A whole corps of them fell to a single lethal explosion of vegetation from Hashirama. Some of the enemy shinobi are distracted, and you could attack, but it would throw the whole force into battle again.

You and your cousin are both up to full health, your chakra is fully refreshed thanks to your chakra compression, and Honda is near at hand. He had a series of successful bouts, apparently, as his club is snapped in half from over-use and he was able to gather up a heavy kanabo from an opposing soldier. You activate your Byakugan and scan over the crowd of foes, noting several powerful chakra sources, but one catches your eye. A young man seems to be giving out orders, passing out paper tags, and writing down on a scroll he has laid out on the ground. It would be an extremely difficult action to reach him in a single attack. However, you know one person who could do it, who is at least ready and close at hand. Honda's inflated form could crush the man and his company, but he would need a great amount of propulsion to blow through the two ranks of shinobi in front of him.

You call Honda over and explain your plan to him. he acquiesces and as you get close, your hand on his back, he balloons up and the enemy shinobi call out that he's doing so. You fire up your chakra, pushing it all out through your hands. What comes out surprises you.

Your compressed chakra releases all at once, easily tripling your maximum chakra pool and blasting through all of it at once. The resulting explosion sends Honda careening through the ranks of the enemy, killing man after man with the terminal velocity at which you threw him. The commander of their forces has enough time to look up before his head is taken off. Your allies, seeing this massive display of courage, rally behind the attack and descend upon your foes, causing a full rout. Chikimatsu and his ally both retreat immediately, leaving Hashirama and Tobirama standing at the rear of the army with a look of pride and confusion on their face.

And so was the battle of Hidemori Ridge won.

Settling beside you she immediately lights her hands with the medic's touch, her Byakugan bulging as she begins running her hands just over the surface of your skin, "My my...." She says after a few minutes of examination, "Your chakra system is incredibly complicated. I have seen only one so complex as yours. You can store a tremendous reserve of chakra, but your body cannot produce it yet, with age, maybe..." She mutters as she sighs, "There is good and ill news."

With a pull of her white hair she speaks, "You will not be able to use chakra. However, it will only be for a little while, and during this time, you should find yourself drifting in and out of consciousness. This will heavily hamper your training. Fortunately you will make a full recovery. I would advise caution, next time."

"I wouldn't worry about your mortality. So long as you don't spend your days blasting your chakra paths and gates open like Hakamori did, you should live a long healthy life." She said and patted your forehead as she rose and shuffled away. "It will be a week or so." She notes and waves good bye.

Over the course of the week, bed-ridden as you are, you gather information about Hakamori. Mari has the most information when she comes to visit you as she tells you a story written down in the clan histories.

"Hakamori of the Blue Sunset." She started and coughed before continuing, "Lord Hakamori was traveling along a deserted mountain trail, having just completed a successful meeting with a lord in a distant town. As he proceeded towards his home he was accosted by ten bandits with spears and bows. They demanded the bag of goods he carried with him, not aware of his status as a shinobi. Hakamori begged them to be merciful on him and allow him passage, but they refused. When he tried to walk past them they attack. Hakamori did not even use a muscle as he devastated the entire area with his raw chakra, leaving a massive fissure from the release. That area is now called the Mondori Canyon and is between the Land of Fire and Grass Country." She said and smiled, "That's all that is really known of him, beyond small things. However, I have seen the Canyon, and you can see the smooth curves of a chakra release. It's not just a legend."

Your week in healing is well spent and afterwards you feel not only full rested, but strangely in tune with yourself. You put on a clean yukata and head out into the training grounds. As you shift from foot to foot, breathing in deeply and allowing your chakra to flow smoothly it seems to respond to you more openly. Your exhaustive efforts seemed to have aided you somehow, or perhaps the old crone helped more than she said. Your father comes out to greet you and trains with you, surprised as well at the fluidity and grace of your strikes.

Naruto is a gateway anime of the worst kind. It's a bad series, a clusterfuck of story and characterization that isn't very well done by any aspect, but which attempts to compensate for its weaknesses by adding in excessive shipping faggotry and DARKNESS. The normal anon can see this as the shit it is, and may enjoy it, hate it or be indifferent to it, but all the while recognizing that the series itself, regardless of their opinion, is plain bad.

However, these very aspects that try to smear over the shit of its core make it a breeding ground for aspie, unsociable underageb& faggots who engage in every kind of faggotry both online and in the real world. The superpowered characters all trying their hardest to look cool, the jutsus, peculiar, colorful clothes, the whole ninja faggotry and everything about the Naruto world fuels their escapist fantasies, while the pity-party character backgrounds, emphasis on revenge, and overall preachiness of the series make it fit just right with the mary-sueish drives of your average preteen and his sense of unwarranted self-importance towards the world. Exactly the kind of shit that makes little kiddies and underageb& retards eat this shit right the fuck up.

Naruto is basically THE series to attract the most hated anime fanbase known to /a/, which is why, regardless of individual opinions, it is the responsibility of every anon to troll the fuck out of this show and everyone who likes it, and ensure that no Naruto threads ever encourage the newfriends to show their faces here.

Just scouting, you don't want to try to infiltrate.

Dimming your signature you do a quick sweep of the perimeter, checking for any guards or watchmen, seeing that they are inside the general area of the village. Not too many shinobi seem active and you sense several stronger chakra signatures deep inside the village. You begin reporting your sightings, the stake's placement, traps, alarms, watchmen movements, and the like.

As you work, however, you are certain to keep your eyes peeled for anyone coming up on you. An hour into your work you detect a chakra signature approaching which you are familiar with. It can be no one other than Inari.

Oh OP, what are the completion requirements for this mission? Will scouting out the Uchiha's defenses be enough?
I'm wondering if we should use our byakugan to make a quick look around for any patrols or watchers, but I'm worried that the burst of chakra might give away our location.

Is that approaching as in "coming closer, perhaps on a patrol" or approaching as in "Making a beeline for our position?"

I think we should take the opportunity to mess around with Inari but not if it's going to put us in any serious risk of being caught by the rest. Last time we were both on unfamiliar turf, this time we're in Uchiha territory. She might take it more seriously and just hand us over to her elders this time.

    Sadly,
    >>16942046
is the most current document I know of. I can tell you that when you take enough damage to get to injured (so in Shingen's case 5 or so) you take a minus one die penalty to your rolls. When you get to wounded (after 13 or so for Shingen) you take a -2 penalty to rolls.

Damage is listed for the power used and is stat based. A punch does your Taijutsu stat in damage, and weapons do Taijutsu + weapon bonus damage. Critical hits are all successes on a roll and those deal double damage normally, though there are critical modifiers out there that can increase this.

You follow Inari to where she is apparently going after scanning for anyone spying on you, coming up clean. She heads to a small clearing with a rock in the way which she makes hand signs in front of before pressing her palm against it, the stone moving aside to a single brush of her hand as she dips into the tunnel it reveals, the stone rolling shut behind her.

    (Bravo, hella critical)

You remember those seals to a tee and make them with perfect form, copying her chakra signature as best as you can. Good enough to slip the seal, it seems, as the rock seems to almost float off the ground at the completion of the technique. With a gentle brush it comes aside. Not only do you gaze into the darkness with the strange sight of the Byakugan, but you also see the distant signature of Inari and a chakra signature much more intense than hers. You can sense her Sharingan eyes are on, seeing her chakra heading towards her eyes.

Dice-maid on TG is apparently a woman as well.

Your teeth clench together and the mark of Inari's name on your arm burns with rage as you jump out of the shadows with an inhuman shout. The man looks up, his Sharingan whirling, trying to capture you in a genjutsu which you throw your finger up and shout, "Forget that trash! Eat this!"

Your right hand glows bright blue again and you feel your compressed chakra expanding again mid attack, beyond your control, you fear that if this doesn't work correctly you'll be dead. However, fortune seem to favor you, or maybe on a subconscious level you remember the horrific pain of being exhausted of your chakra in a single swoop. You cling to the most meager sum of chakra, enough to stay stable. The rest, however, explodes outwards in the strongest uppercut you've ever thrown.

You forgot about your training, forgot about your fancy stances, and forgot about aiming for the chakra points. You wanted to inflict pain. Instead of targeting a point to close it you smashed your fist into his wrinkled jaw, screaming out with rage as you force your chakra through the point of contact straight upwards. His precious Sharingan give out first, exploded out of his face from the pressure before his crown gives out and you send the old man rocketing into the ceiling, leaving a bloody patch before he crumples to the ground.

You avert your eyes, noticing only now that she's dressed very scarcely, bandages covering her torso only. You remove your yukata and put it around her shoulders without a word before you begin your work. You see the eyes are ruined beyond use, but capture them none the less. You do your best to maim and mangle the body beyond professional recognition, seeing his facial chakra-system was ruined by your attack. You clean him fairly well, Inari the whole time sitting stock still, save for the occasional quiver. When you are done you rise and walk past her without another word.

The trip back to your compound is rather grim. You can't help but repeat those last few moments with a bit of revulsion. Your young mind finally gives up as half-way home you kneel and throw up hard, stopping for a moment to keep yourself steady as you feel your chest heaving in discomfort. It was revolting the things you heard.

You finally make your way home, deposit the materials gathered and your notes with the clerk before going to your room. A few minutes later Kumomaru comes in and takes one look at you, sitting next to you and patting your shoulder, "Hey kiddo...what's wrong?"

And chakra scalpels though that means we can't raise a stat up. since medical knowledge is double cost and we -need- stealth. I say split the remaining points up between medical knowledge, stealth, genjutsu knowledge, and social skills.

    Wonderful news.

Your time of ease and training is shattered when the entire grounds are alerted to something. You manage to get your way to the front of the crowd in time to see the Patriarch and several house leaders shaking their head in disgust at what has appeared in front of the compound.

An Uchiha has been painfully and obviously brutally stabbed to death hundreds of times, pinned to a giant X made out of metal, shaped almost like a fuma-shuriken that is used by the Senjuu clan. However, the torture and the method thereof isn't Senjuu. He is devoid of a shirt and on his chest the words, "Just as Desired." are cut quite deeply from a thin sharp object, perhaps a shuriken's point.

Your brother looks aghast as he moves to cover your eyes, then stops himself, knowing you'd just turn your Byakugan on to see anyway. The Patriarch turns and demands, "Who knows about this?"

Nope, just an Uchiha male, roughly sixteen years old. It's quite a painful rigging, it seems. And from what you can see of his fading chakra system, he was quite healthy.

No one answers and the Patriarch sighs, "Everyone back to your quarters. We're going into lockdown." He said and ordered his two bodyguards to clean the mess up.

Weeks pass again, this time, however, you don't have the free time to train and just hone your skills. The Patriarch seems to have found a special place for you in his heart for doing mundane and boring, but extremely lengthy work.

You celebrate your thirteenth birthday in the field with a distant cousin who at least was kind enough to bring a candle for you and have you blow it out. The two of you spend the night conversing lightly, eyes trained on the work as you get off your seventh week straight of sentry work. You're strung out and exhausted, and when you return home your Father stops you.

"My son...come, we need to speak, let's away to the lakeside." Once there, under cover of night and stealth, the two of you sit together and he speaks, "I fear the Patriarch, in his wisdom, is misusing your talents." He said gently and very carefully, "As a result..." he mused, "I will take you with me on my next mission. You and I are to go perform a long-term reconnaissance mission in the Land of Earth, operating on the fringes of their clans and taking careful note. Additionally, it will give us a chance to bond as Father and Son." He said, crossing his arms, "I warn you, however, it will be unlike anything you've ever done before. You will have to see me no longer as just your father, but as your partner. You and I will rely on one another, and I trust you to be the adult I know you are."

Reduce your chakra to 1, and inflict a penalty to your chakra control. To get their benefits you have to successfully convert chakra through chakra control.

The two of you pack quickly and with your Father's guidance you both slip away into the night without detection, thankfully. You make your way to the Land of Earth through some neutral territory and he leads you up a tall series of cliffs and mountains to a small cave which he apparently had planned out, as seals written by him lined the walls, keeping it safe from detection. "Get some rest, kiddo, we're going to take your skills to the next level." He said and to show you this he opened up his backpack pouring out bottle after bottle of highest grade sake he could get his hands on. "Eventually, by the time we're done, you will hold your own against the Shaking Palm himself."

You both get a long night's rest and wake up the next morning to your Father peeling off his shirt and heading for the door, "Alright kiddo, we need to get some food. You eat what you catch. Here's my advice, the tigers around here don't like fighting, at least one on one. I'd start with goats if you can stun them with your Byakguan." he said and jumped away, pouncing from rock to rock as he went to get his breakfast.

    Eating's over-rated anyway.

Your father is waiting at home with a huge goat on the fire as he begins eating a leg, seeing you empty handed. He passes you a bit of the meat and says, "Tomorrow, my son. Part of the lesson is learning from failure."

After you are both fed he stands up and shifts into his Gentle Fist stance, which is different from yours. His stance is more open, wider, and much more rooted. His hands also face upwards, almost as if asking you to attack him.

The two of you meet in combat, and it's very easy to see despite your amazing skill in the Gentle Fist he is a veteran of the art. His hands smack into your joints and stomach, sending you to the ground. "Up. Again." He demands.

At the day's end you are sore and tired. You managed to score a single blow against his jaw, similar to the hit you landed against the Uchiha elder, which caused you to hesitate and him to land a six hit series which paralyzed you for a few seconds. As your Father sits beside you and smokes from a pipe he blows out a wreath of smoke and says, "Day one of many many more." He says and ponders, "I think it's four years we're supposed to be up here, unless we're recalled earlier."

So, before we enter the hyperbollic time chamber, we need to decide upon what we want to focus on doing.

As such, we delay these decisions until later today when more people are awake.

Raise all of our stats up. Increase our stealth and medical knowledge as well as genjutsu knowledge. Get some perks or learn some new techniques. Develop Null stance (discussed in irc a bit we basically shut down our chakra and get a huge bonus to taijutsu and stealth and gain chakra when we come out of it). We've got 4 years of training after all we should be pretty fucking scary after that long of intense training.

Hell some of our perks could even be training related. Allowing us to train even faster or have the benefits of downtime training while on missions.

Personally, I want max out our Chakra Control first - as we only have it at five right now - before we level up everything else. After that, I think we should focus on stabilizing ourselves - Medical Knowledge. Then Intrusion, Genjutsu Knowledge, and are there any skills in Chakra Dimming or Chakra Detection? And, as we are surviving in the wilderness and fighting a Shaking Palm master, Survival if there's a skill for that, and Taijutsu knowledge.

I agree that we should max Chakra Control and get another point or two in Medical Ninjutsu.
It might cut a few points from other things, but considering the repercussions of our chakra compression and usage (dead at 30), stabilizing our chakra and fine-tuning our control should probably take priority.

Besides, we'll probably need maxed Chakra Control in order to justify Null Stance.
