    Updates are coming, I promise.

Our MC's running character sheet can be found here.

As of last thread we were offered a pretty sweet new mission.

Your Father gives you a smile and says, "Sure, kiddo, I'll be happy to let you go ahead on this mission. I WAS going to teach you some pretty impressive Hyuuga technique that I developed myself, but if you're in such a rush, I can sign you to go ahead if you want." he teases you with a laugh.
    >> Anonymous 11/20/11(Sun)03:51 No.16969107
    >teach you some pretty impressive Hyuuga technique that I developed myself, but if you're in such a rush
"Hahaha..okay, Father, you know me too well."

New techniques are always good, and we'll probably need them if we're going to be soloing all of our upcoming fights.
    >> KumaSennin !!hAxKShXKS9j 11/20/11(Sun)03:56 No.16969135

He smiles at you and stands up. Breathing deeply for a few seconds he suddenly thrusts his arms forward, wrists touching one another as you see two muscle arms of chakra reaching out from his ribs and smashing into the waterfall. "This is the Gentle Steel Fist." He says proudly and you can see the sweat beads on his forehead. "With the power of hard Taijutsu and the chakra destruction of our style, I have only begun to work on it, but it is the perfect martial art."
    >> Anonymous 11/20/11(Sun)03:57 No.16969141

    rolled 6, 1, 3, 6, 2, 7, 3, 1 = 29

    "So... like this?"

Attempt to mimic it. Rollin gentle fist + rank.

He smiles proudly, "In a single blow...yes." He says and chuckles, "However, it has a tendency to exhaust an old man like me. You, however, could probably do it very well."

You feel your chakra system expanding to allow for what you're asking of it. But when you do it, a cry of determination at your lips, four arms reach out and blast the water straight apart, knocking it all the way to the land, a good fifteen meters away in a single blow. You already have doubled your father's progress, but your chakra has dropped hugely. (Back to 1)
    >> Anonymous 11/20/11(Sun)04:06 No.16969183
So our chakra dropped from 8 to 1?
What about our compressed chakra reserves?

    "I still...need...more practice."
    >> Anonymous 11/20/11(Sun)04:06 No.16969184
"Yeesh, that's a killer. I see I'm going to have to work on this one. Thanks for the lesson as always father."

Bow slightly. We may benefit from training for this with our chakra dampening bandages on.
    >> Anonymous 11/20/11(Sun)04:09 No.16969199

"It's like a wave of total destruction. Maybe if we compress the chakra? Harden it, instead of just letting it explode? It'd work better in close-combat." May as well throw around theories in order too have some progress on this technique.
    >> KumaSennin !!hAxKShXKS9j 11/20/11(Sun)04:10 No.16969209

Actually it ate 15 chakra. It forced our compressed to expand and drained it all out.

"Perhaps indeed." He said with a rub of his jaw before smiling and laughing, "Well, if anyone can figure it out, it's you my boy." He said and patted your back again, "Have fun with that one, and try not to die."

    15 chakra?

Yeah, we definitely need to figure out how to control this technique better.

"I'll get better with it, Father."
    >> Anonymous 11/20/11(Sun)04:19 No.16969249
Yeah. Though we should read the contents of the scroll and prepare for our mission now. We can train while we're on the road.

So we have this technique, Inari's senbon technique, and human psychology to work on while on the road.

Interesting idea. There's no mechanic for it, but we'll see what we can do.
    >> Anonymous 11/20/11(Sun)04:40 No.16969374
Combined with our Byakugan, it seems plausible. Especially with the use of chakra scalpels.
    >> KumaSennin !!hAxKShXKS9j 11/20/11(Sun)04:42 No.16969381
    Anyway, moving on!

You read over the dossier and the exact mission's orders are to "free the Land of Fire from the grip of those who oppress it." it's clearly written by some diplomat or nobleman or something, some fool in a silly hat who doesn't understand how the world works.

Regardless, you are eager to do it and your father signs you off and bids you farewell. You pack adequately and set foot away from the campus, where do you want to go?
    >> Anonymous 11/20/11(Sun)04:45 No.16969399
I suppose the first thing we should do is head for areas known for bandit activity.
Bandits should be easier to take out than the organized samurai.
    >> KumaSennin !!hAxKShXKS9j 11/20/11(Sun)04:48 No.16969423

There are a few cells of known bandits that haven't been cleared out by shinobi cells. One such area is fairly close by and should be fairly simple to at least break apart.

You make your way to the cave and find, however, that someone beat you to your collar. Five bandits are all pinned to the stone wall with a long spear, a single gigantic spear. This is quite a grizzly sight.
    >> Anonymous 11/20/11(Sun)04:48 No.16969424
Agreed we should also try and gather information from friendly sources such as the senju as we go. Tea houses are likely to have a knowledgeable patron or two for when we need local information. We shouldn't just aimlessly go about waiting to be attacked. We need to locate strong holds and clear them out.
    >> Anonymous 11/20/11(Sun)04:51 No.16969437
Any chakra residue on the spear, or indications that it belongs to a shinobi clan?
Also investigate the cave and see if there are indications of who did this.

If nothing else is found, we need to gather information at the national level on bandit activity, then got to the local level to find bandit strongholds and such.
    >> Anonymous 11/20/11(Sun)04:51 No.16969438
See if the spears owner is still around. If not see if we can't locate any information that may prove useful to us (such as the name of some of the bandit's contacts or information that could lead to an undiscovered hideout).
    >> KumaSennin !!hAxKShXKS9j 11/20/11(Sun)04:55 No.16969470

The spears are cold, both literally and figuratively. The cave itself is empty save for the clothing that litters the floor. Whoever committed these crimes is long since gone and was very effective in their work. However, you do notice one thing of interest. The spear's wood is yew, a wood that doesn't grow in the Land of Fire. You'd place it more from the Land of Water or Lightning.
    >> Anonymous 11/20/11(Sun)04:59 No.16969494
For now we'll leave the grizzly scene and inform someone at the next village we pass of what's happened. Then we make our way towards our next target keeping in mind that there's a spear wielding bandit killer about.
    >> Anonymous 11/20/11(Sun)05:00 No.16969496
Odd. What would shinobi from those lands be doing here?
And what purpose would killing bandits have to them?

Perhaps we should take the spear to the Senjuu to see if they can place its origins. They have a lot of dealings at the international level.
    >> KumaSennin !!hAxKShXKS9j 11/20/11(Sun)05:54 No.16969743

We will deal with this tomorrow. OP to sleep.
    >> Anonymous 11/20/11(Sun)13:06 No.16972162
I'm gonna suggest that we leave too - scan for any Chakra signature, or residue or any lack of chakra trail.

Then lets dim our chakra and quickly heat to the next location we should go so we can free the Land of Fire from the grip of those who oppress it. Note: We should use this blanket order to kill any clan that might become a problem. Maybe even find a way to use this order to get our family into the Main clan.
    >> Anonymous 11/20/11(Sun)15:18 No.16973113
An idea came to me: if we can't find a psychiatrist to provide Inari with therapy, perhaps the Yamanaka's can help.
We know that they're allied with the Senjuu, and that they have highly-developed mind genjutsu's from that battle we were at a few years back.
    >> Anonymous 11/20/11(Sun)19:00 No.16975258
Also, if Inari Uchiha really does have a hero worship complex in addition to her yandere feelings for Shingen, having him try to give her therapy might only make things worse.
    >> Anonymous 11/20/11(Sun)19:33 No.16975566
Well, what if the Therapy was a Lobotomy?
    >> Anonymous 11/20/11(Sun)20:32 No.16976043
Would you describe the dead men as run of the mill highwaymen or are they actual shinobi? The bingo book does not exist as of yet and neither does the proper designation of a rouge shinobi as missing nin. We should be able to make an educated guess on how powerful or skilled the killer(s) are based on the victims: It's relatively easy to line up five mooks and kill them with one spear, the same cannot be said for five trained shinobi unless they were caught completely off guard.
    >> Anonymous 11/20/11(Sun)22:04 No.16976959
True. Actually, if we can't find an obvious trail, go to the closest village. After all, they might not have been a cruel group of bandits - might be doing the whole 'Robin Hood' thing.

    >> Anonymous 11/21/11(Mon)03:03 No.16979174
We'd need to butter up the Yamanakas before they do anything like that, and this is all presuming they don't arrest her or kill her outright for being an Uchiha.

Why don't we put our chakra blackout ability to good use? We could use a clone as an active chakra signature, and trail behind it with our chakra blacked out, so that we can better see if anyone is following us.

If we seal senbon into a piec of cloth (the bandages around our wrists for example) and practice our aim & throw until we drop down unconsious we might be able to create a new mid-range, surprise-oriented style that makes use of our superiour experience as a Hyuuga and gentle fist user.

Think of it as supernatural Blowdarts.

Maybe, but this is a perfect opportunity to give the Branch family a better reputation. It's one of our long term goals to elevate the Branch to a higher social standing, I just figured giving the rest of our clan-mates a chance to better themselves and prove their worth would be something we can do in the here and now.
    >> Anonymous 11/21/11(Mon)14:25 No.16983107
A good point, but this was specifically a solo mission. I think it's to take a measure of our ability as a Branch Captain.

Which reminds me; because of those duties and responsibilities, we'll need to periodically visit home to get updates.
    >> KumaSennin !!hAxKShXKS9j 11/21/11(Mon)16:14 No.16983699

To your observation the people speared were shinobi. Their chakra systems show signs of use and they carry shinobi gear. However, they are bereft of village markings, or anything descriptive really.

This man is correct. It was a solo mission specifically. You aren't to call for help at all. And you aren't to return home until you feel that you've done enough for the Clan and the Land.
    >> Anonymous 11/21/11(Mon)16:17 No.16983722
    >they were shinobi
Well now, this makes things much more interesting.
I still think we should take the spear to the Senjuu to see if they can identify its origins, as well as to find out about other bandit groups in the area that might have suddenly stopped all activity, indicating that they were wiped out like this group.
    >> KumaSennin !!hAxKShXKS9j 11/21/11(Mon)16:18 No.16983732
You tug and wrench the spear with all your might but find that it's dug quite deeply into the stone wall. Your meager strength isn't enough to pull it out of the wall. Whoever embedded this spear was a monster.
    >> Anonymous 11/21/11(Mon)16:22 No.16983759
No way to suck the spear and bandits into a scroll, then?
And no evidence of kekkei genkai's in the dead shinobi?
    >> KumaSennin !!hAxKShXKS9j 11/21/11(Mon)16:25 No.16983770
You really aren't trained in the use of sealing tech or scrolls, you don't even have one on you or know where you could acquire one.

No kekkei genkai evidence in the shinobi, thankfully. They appear to just be four regular men and a woman. Measuring the spear it's roughly twelve or thirteen feet long in just the shaft, the head is buried into the cave, but you would guess it's also quite large.

The only way to get it out of the wall would be to collapse the surrounding stone around the spear and cause its mooring to come loose.
    >> Anonymous 11/21/11(Mon)16:32 No.16983813
Well, we need to practice the Gentle Steel Fist anyway.

Let's try to break the stone around the spearhead. But do it from the mouth of the cave; no need to accidentally trap ourselves when we don't have to.

You breathe in deeply and thrust your arms forward, ten huge arms exploding from your sides as you turn the entire cave into gravel, collapsing it entirely almost, the entire structure of it blown to little more than dust. The spear is quite loose now and the bodies with it. However, you have blown yourself through your chakra again and the breathe leaves your body as you get weak legged and collapse onto the ground, face first, panting hard, trying to keep conscious.

    >> KumaSennin !!hAxKShXKS9j 11/21/11(Mon)18:29 No.16984676
You breathe slowly and focus in, your chakra restores refreshing as you gather your chakra and climb back to your feet. Your chakra compression allows you to store more and your body begins recuperating as you are face with the massive pole-like spear. The head of the spear is as broad as your torso and at least three feet long.
    >> Anonymous 11/21/11(Mon)18:30 No.16984686
Yeah, just spend some time meditating to regain our chakra, and retrieve the spear - and the bodies. Also, lets go down to the nearest village to ask about said 'bandits'

You clean the bodies off the spear and are now forced to reconcile how you are going to transport this titanic spear. It weighs easily three or four times your body weight, and you aren't going to be lifting it with any ease.

Your Byakugan flicks on and you scan the area. Your range has grown, about to 100m at this point, and you can see no imminent threats.

They do mention someone. A huge man with a shock of red hair, not common in the area, passed by two days ago. The most notable feature of him was his quiet and grim demeanor and his massive ox-like musculature. They indicate that he was heading towards the southern coast of the Land of Fire. He was unarmed.

You proceed and come across a group of shinobi which you scan and recognize as Uchiha on patrol. There appear to be about three of them, an adult woman and three boys, maybe her children or her cousins.
    >> Anonymous 11/21/11(Mon)19:53 No.16985426
She is either tsundere (which usually means happy end), either yandere (which means we are deep in shit). Actually, i kind of understand why she hates us so much. We just played a white knight for some time, and then left, without saying another word. A fair maiden would be offended. But I would suggest to get along with her, because we will get a cute (and overpowered Uchiha) waifu, and some credit for taming a while beast. You'd have to think of where you want to leave it.

You absolutely could. The Hyuuga Clan isn't fond of Uchiha, nor are the Senjuu. If you were willing to lie enough you could easily kill them and then report they were terrorizing a village or something.

I'm gonna say take the moralfag route and just hide and let them be, practice our stealth skills.

Alternatively, ask if they know of a girl who <insert Inari's description here> and then pass a note to be delivered by a guy you met on the road. the note would obviously be a request for a meeting in neutral ground alone.

You walk into the forest for a while and find a nice open space, about thirty by thirty meters where you stand out alone.

    >"I have not forgotten you, Inari, and won't lose you again."

Your voice echoes for a while before a needle flies out from up and in front of you and lands in front of you. A note is tied to the end of it. It reads:

"Meet me at the Manji Valley near the Land of Rice Fields. Come alone, and wear your best, sweetie." You know that writing too well. But as you read the note you hear it suddenly start to fizz and you see that on the backside it's an explosive tag. You hurl it away from you just as it goes off and sprays hot smoke over you, thankfully you are unharmed.

The Manji Valley is to the farthest north border of the Land of Fire, near the Land of Rice Patties. It's a massive waterfall with a huge water basin beneath it.

You realize that since you have been living among the Clan the only money you have is about 25 ryo from various and sundry sources. That's barely enough to buy the nice lunch you are going to purchase for her. So, you'll have to make do with what you have.

You return home, after trouncing a few more bandits and looting them for their valuables. You scavenge through your wears before your Father appears behind you with a very expensive looking dress outfit, "This is what I wore when I used to look nice. I had a feeling this is what you're wanting?" He asked and smiled, the clean white outfit with blue lining playing well with your violet eyes and dark hair. It seems to be just about your size too.

After dressing up and heading towards the Valley you stop just short of there to find a restaurant, bought some food to go, and then arrive at your destination.

The waterfall is nestled between two massive slabs of stone on either side, the basin beneath it very calm and very deep it seems. As you near you see a large floating wooden raft with a cloth laid out across it. This appears to be where Inari wanted to meet you.

She smiles again, this one more slight, as she hands you your chopsticks and sits opposite you, "Enjoy the meal, Shingen."

Though the food is unquestionably delicious you feel like you're eating in front of a tiger who is considering making you desert.

She laughs again, "Such statements! And from out of the blue as well, you are quite the daring one, Shingen." She says and takes a sip of her tea.

As your mind flickers to the Earth girl you don't see any sort of reaction, maybe she can read minds, maybe she can't. Regardless, she is composed and very elegant, very refined looking. She learned, somewhere, how to be like this.

The meal goes on until the both of you are done eating. Afterwards she takes your box and washes it out in the basin, as she does hers and looks at you, "It's nice to be able to be with you again, every once in a while, Shigen. I'm afraid we're running out of time, but next time, let's have some sake ok? I want to drink with the man I love." She says, the first time she's ever said it as she flushes dark red and leans in, giving you a hard kiss and then slides a needle into your neck, causing your whole body to lock up and your eyes to swim. "Good bye my darling." She says, "For now." As she walks off the raft she puts her hands together and the water around the raft explodes violently, rocking the raft and when the water clears she's long gone. The needles slowly slither their way out of your skin and fall to the raft slowly and steadily. In about five minutes you're all freed again.

Okay, we got more questions than answers, BUT, there are certain things to do: 1. Get some of the needles, we will need them for later. 2. Scan our body to see if chakra was applied. 3. When we will get home speak to our father to learn more how to not become paralyzed so easily. 4. GET FUCKEN STRONGER

The damage is remarkably slight. A few holes in the fabric and almost no blood, just a single droplet on the neckline where she stuck you. She's extremely skilled with her needles, frighteningly so.

You return home, thank your Father, and redress for battle. As you make for the door you collapse backwards onto your mat, your head swimming again as you feel slightly ill. Maybe you ate something bad...but you feel tired and weak...the mission can continue.

You gather about seven of the ten needles, more than enough for a steady sample, and put them in a box at home. Additionally, once you check your body, you can't see if any chakra was applied, the paralysis having lasted long enough for your own chakra to flush any external chakra out, and even your Byakugan can't sense anything.

Guys, I think that the only way we can show Inari that if she wants to be with us, she is the one to be collared, is to plainly overpower her. Paralyze her, bind her, torture her, while telling her who is the strongest of you two. This is going a bit too far for my liking. WAY too far. We are not that Uchiha bastard. we are a gentleman, a professional. We have standards to which we hold ourself.

I'd still rather take a more passive approach. I honestly don't think we'd be able to get her in any position where she's the submissive one, if her trend of running when we see and pursue her continues. That's the biggest hurdle right there honestly
