You are the chieftan of Corvus Tribe. Trained by the greatest warrior ever known to northern lands (your grandfather). You led your tribe against Kingdom of Aville and triumphed. But still you are the first step of an endless road.

Before you stands the Militia sergeant Tevlin. You have been interrogating him for sometime. You questioned him about the intentions of Aville and his orders. He tried his best to answer them.

    What now?

reposting what I said in the last thread.

How about we try to win over the prisoners with a rousing speech about forging ones own destiny and stuff. Then we can say that any man who wishes to join our fledgling nation can do so subject to 6 months of military training followed by 2 years of active service. Then they can become a full citizen and having voting rights and whatever, which we can implement in the 2 years we have until people start asking for citizenship.

Voting rights was just a random example of the benefits citizenship could offer, again this is just an idea, and we have those 2 years I mentioned to decide what citizenship can entail.

    Besides, we DO practice slavery.
Giving these enemies citizenship on the drop of the hat while we have second class castes living in our nation is going to have negative effects on the populace.

I think interrogating every prisoner is going to be a waste of time, we need to find a way of quickly identifying who Sir Blackhand is and then getting what information we want from him, also it would be wise to stop that Tevlin guy from going back in with the general population of prisoners as he could go straight to Blackhand and tell him we have someone who can read minds, which could make things a lot more difficult.

We don't really need any specific information
We want them to join our cause, and rally the peasants of Aville to our cause as well.
To do that, we need to secure the trust of Blackhand, and Blackhand won't trust us before the commonfolk does, most likely.

    >> Anonymous 11/20/11(Sun)12:19 No.16971811
We're not interrogating EVERY SINGLE prisoner, just interrogate some important people, officers and the like. They'll spread word of the injustice that Aville truly is, and then we'll give a speech to them all collectively.

Blackhand shouldn't be spoken to before he comes to us. He'll just suspect we're using our mindmagic to turn him against Aville.

That makes a lot more sense, for some reason I thought this Tevlin dude was the knight we captured and Blackhand was hiding his identity from us. My bad.

I don't think it'll make any difference if we have the common-folk on our side before we try to sway Blackhand, if they all somehow decide to join us then he will probably just dismiss them as simple minded or cowardly, as most of the prisoners are just militia, its unlikely he will give their actions any thought when making his decision. If we can talk to him and show him that we are the righteous faction then turning these prisoners to our side will be super easy all of a sudden.

In control of what? A bunch of prisoners? Of course these guys are loyal to him, they served under him and he seems to be a commander held in high regard (even though he can't plan an attack to save his life apparently), but that doesn't mean that the rest of Aville think he is the second coming. If we do convince him that he has all the power, then what? Do we let him go an pillage his former homeland? Do we let him keep all of these troops that are loyal to him and no-one else? Because I doubt a supposedly honourable man would do the first option and the second option seems super dangerous.

"if you are what you are, then why aren't you leading that nation then? it would seem that since you have loyalty of the soldiers and servants under your command, you should be the king or leader of Aville"

-Not that easy. Ruler class holds authority over the regular troops. We can win a civil war or a rebellion but it would be devestating. Many would die. Mostly innocents.

Damn lack of players. İ am going to railroad for a bit.

Chieftan looks at the Knight before him. Sure he was a hero to his people. Still there was something more.

-So can you tell me anything about what would Avilles' next move would be.

-İ dont know. High Marshall often let me out of the command chain. He knew i would oppose any plan including using milita as canon fodder. Though main army is broken, Queen probably would ask help from İlythians.

-Why are you being so cooperative?

-Because whatever i do will effect my men lives or dies. İ simply refuse to play fool and ask "What if i dont?" İ know my situation very well.

-And you are sure that i wont kill your men later. When i am done with you.

-Yes. İf you have been planning to kill them, you wouldnt have bothered to save injured ones, especially heavly injured ones. Also you wouldnt treat us this nice.

    -You think this is nice?

    -İ have seen worst.

-İ doubt it. Still i am treating you because you are prisoners of war which should be treated as guests. As long as your men dont make anything foolish and cooperate with us, we will count you as guests.

Joan puts her right hand on your shoulder.

-Can i get back my slave? My lord. You know i...

-He is a prisoner, not a slave.

    -BUT İ WON Hİ....

-İ said he isnt a slave, he is our guest and will be treated so. Do you understand?

She looks at you furiously then calms down.

    -Yes my lord.

-By the way Blackhand. One last advice. Doing nothing to save your people makes you guilty as those corrupt nobles you serve. You fear for the innocent lives which is understandable but by not acting, you are dooming more innocents to death.

William nods then turns back and leaves. Joan follows him, not that eager lot her prey go. You stand up and turn back to Cyrillia and Bjorn.

since i think we're done with the interrogation, let's go to the feast
    >> Advisor Anon 11/20/11(Sun)15:17 No.16973098

You return to feast to find your around the tables, already celebrating. You turn to Cyrillia which nods at you as you two join the feast. You enjoy your warriors friendly chatters. Krinn and Jasmine are together, enjoying the evening. And you notice most of your warriors have mates. You then remember how hard your grandfather forged them even Chosens were still human, they had families, children.

-So mighty chieftain? What are you thinking about now?

You turn and see Cyrillias' purple eyes staring at you.

-Why are you asking. İ am sure you can read me.

-Yes i can but then what is the point as long as you dont give voice to them.

-So Cyrillia. İ want to ask. Why are you still following me? Why are you here?

    -İ dont understand you.

-You have a family, you have a grandfather, you have your own home, yet you are still here. Dont you want to be with them.

    -İ do.

-Then why are you still here? Why did you trust me in first place?

-İt is complicared. Lets say i knew, i was going to meet you from the start, i just didnt know the time.

-So you knew from the start that i would listen to your words and would not betray your trust.

-İ knew that i had to trust you. Or otherwise my people would be stuck in a prison of their own making. İ knew i had to trust you, otherwise i would never be happy. İ knew i had to trust you for i need you.
    >> mick824 11/20/11(Sun)15:21 No.16973139

I wonder how bloody their civil war would be if they had our help?

I don't know what to do with this
    Other plans
    Stuff to build
We need to set up a a harbor to start trading.

We should also build a training hall for each of our military traditions, so they can replenish without us micro managing it.

We should send heralds (with orders to proclaim their message at every village and city on the way to the capital) back to Aville to start negotiations about prisoners returns (but promising only to meet).
    >> mick824 11/20/11(Sun)15:46 No.16973428
"Oh, so that's it? you just wanted to have a purpose and a adventure to boot?.....well i shouldn't get so suspicious right now we have a feast to get back to. And Cyrillia, be careful with your wanderlust it may get you into more dangerous situations."
    >> Advisor Anon 11/20/11(Sun)15:51 No.16973482

Cyrillia sighs with a relief. She couldnt tell it again. Still maybe this was for the best. He was a human afterall.

You still have a little hangover from the last night. Still you shrug it off easly and get to work. Your advisor reports to you...

-Coal shoartage prevents from forging new gear for chosens and swordsmen. Also cant advance forging without them and also most forges arent working.

-Prisoners dont make any troubles still the fact remains. You have to decide what to do with them?

-Lukas is nowhere to be found.

-Your advisor reminds you, you havent picked a wife yet.

The plan is to incite a civil war.

The proclaim at every village and town on the way is just insurance against the nobles trying to kill the messengers then clamming we killed the "peoples glorious hero"

What I want to appear as; is an honest and fair barbarian. As plays up our the most positive aspects and gives us an excuse (in peoples minds) for the harm we will have to inflict and the inevitable culture conflict.
    >> Advisor Anon 11/20/11(Sun)16:04 No.16973603

Civil unrest of any kind helps us, even if it's not a full rebellion.

For a open rebellion yes. But any kind of civil unrest weakens Aville's position. Makes them more dependent on Ilythia which the common folk probably resent and strains Ilythia's military so that they are less likely to attack us (or weaker if they do attack us)
    >> mick824 11/20/11(Sun)16:21 No.16973731
us attempting to incite a civil war without the support of Blackhand might possibly unite Aville together even closer and/or force Aville and her allies to attack us in full force together
    >> adviser K 11/20/11(Sun)18:18 No.16974821
    >Unite Aville together
That is a problem. One of the reasons that I want to encourage the image of honest and fair, is those traits encourage trade; and if we get merchants to do buses with us they will not be for a war.
If we can offend the nobles (during the prisoner talks) without offending the commoners, then when war comes it will be very unpopular and Aville will be ripe for "a change in management".

    >Aville and her allies to attack us in full force together
If they do that then if would be a good time to ask our allies the caliphate to attack in retaliation. Further more It is unlikely as we are not overtly inciting war, just making it very hard on those nobles (the proclaim at every village thing could be explained as a northerner custom); and we have just made a trade agreement with Ilythia.

Please note that I am not against recruiting Blackhand, I'm just against making all of our plans
