    TG QUEST!!!

    Last Thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/16994064/

When last we left our away team, they had managed to drag Douglas Cartland out of his guilt far enough to nullify Silent Hill's hold on him. Having placed the Red Mask onto the statue of Data, the statue of Alessa cracked and began to glow, but nothing further happened. Now you must decide what action next to take. What horrors await you? What monsters lurk in Silent Hill? And what sort of terrible bum-related puns will infest THIS thread? FIND OUT! ON TG QUEST!

    Away Team inventory:
    White Chrism
    Book:Crimson Ceremony

Heather: ME Hardsuit, M41A Pulse Rifle.
Douglas: ME Hardsuit, M41A Pulse Rifle.
Data: Phaser Rifle, Tricorder, Federation Medkit.
Spike: Handgun, Hand Phaser, A280 Blaster Rifle.

Your probe droid is still idling in the 'real' world.
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)19:12 No.17019560
Aw yeah starting it up once again. Is the unknown door within the real world, if so the probe droid might be able to open it up for us. unless the key we obtained is what unlocks that door. but before opening the door we should make sure that everyone is ok, don't need to walk into a bossfight unprepared.
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)19:14 No.17019578
    Alright, Meta Quest!

Okay, first have Data take a quick scan of Alessa's statue.
Then, have both the team and the probe droid return to the antechamber and open the left, unknown door.
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)19:14 No.17019579
Hmm... Heather is to continue providing moral support to Douglas.
Actually, now that there's a lull in things trying to kill us, might as well ask her if she'd prefer to be called Heather or Cheryl.
    >> OP 11/25/11(Fri)19:26 No.17019684

"Cheryl, actually," Heather says. "No reason to hide anymore."

Data's tricorder reveals that strange energies are surrounding the statue and not only that, there appears to be a living human encased in the stone.

The probe droid advances to the door in the real world and finds it unlocked. It opens to a long, straight hallway with a single vault-like door at the end.
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)19:29 No.17019705
Well, can we get the person out?
If it doesn't seem possible currently, then have the team go to the antechamber and open their version of the left door. If it's clear, then have both the team and the probe droid open their respective vault doors.
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)19:31 No.17019722
Can the probe droid scan the vault like thing? if it looks like something unpleasant is in it, we should wait to open it up.
    >> OP 11/25/11(Fri)19:35 No.17019758
Data tries to smash the cracked stone, but it doesn't seem to have any effect.

Douglas goes to open the left door. It opens into another small antechamber instead of the long hallway. Carved stone pillars line the walls and twin doors are at the far wall, carved with images of coiling dragon. A large keyhole is at the center of this door, and a hole in the ceiling about two feet wide is in the ceiling.

At this point I will begin referring to Heather as Cheryl.
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)19:35 No.17019773
Alright so there's someone inside the statue, and the artifacts we're gathering are the requirements for the Crimson Ceremony.
I'm betting the 'final boss' is in that statue, but if we attack it now, it will turn out not to be, because Silent Hill is wise to our games.
Let's just play along for now.
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)19:36 No.17019781
Can Data use his tricorder to analyze the 'White Chrism" like, what it's supposed to be?
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)19:37 No.17019782
examine the statue and see if anything is out of place, well, for the otherworld. take a closer look at the coiled dragon statue.
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)19:38 No.17019793
Have the probe droid open the vault door.

Have the team enter this new antechamber, and Data, Douglas, and Cheryl check out the pillars and dragons, while Spike keeps watch on that hole in the ceiling. Something might be up there and might attack.
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)19:38 No.17019796
How high is the ceiling? Like can we hoist people up through the hole?
Or hell, can Data jump through it?
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)19:39 No.17019805
    ...Dragons eh?
    Look's like you're up Spike.
Does this remind you of any location in particular?
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)19:41 No.17019820
    Oh right, Red Dragon Syndicate.
Have Spike take a look at the doors and dragons, while Douglas keeps an eye on that hole.
    >> OP 11/25/11(Fri)19:42 No.17019822
The probe droid's sensors cannot pierce the door, but on closer examination, he notes an intricate series of panels worked into the metal. There are 22 panels, each corresponding to the major arcana of a tarot deck; The Magician, The High Priestess, The Empress, The Emperor, The Hierophant, The Lovers, The Chariot, Strength, The Hermit, Wheel of Fortune, Justice, The Hanged Man, Death, Temperance, The Devil, The Tower, The Star, The Moon, The Sun, Judgement, The World, and The Fool.
    >> OP 11/25/11(Fri)19:44 No.17019848
Data attempts to, but cannot reach the hole.

Spike looks around the room, frowning.

"Looks kind of like the audience rooms some of the higher ranking Syndicate members would spoil themselves with," Spike says. "I don't like it."
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)19:45 No.17019859
do the panels seem to move, or are they just set in the door? if that door is unlocked open it, but if not look around the rooms to see if anything of interest is obtainable.
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)19:47 No.17019882
    Yeehaw TG Quest!

Don't forget the vial of Aglaophotis that Spike found in the storage room.

    Engraved panels or slidable/movable panels?
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)19:47 No.17019883
Do the panels on the vault-door in the realworld move?
If so, this is likely another puzzle.

As for the team, are there any hidden switches or latches among the columns or dragon statues?
    >> OP 11/25/11(Fri)19:48 No.17019884

The door is locked. The panels appear to slide inward slightly, when pressed.

Well we don't like it either. Stay on high alert everyone, and be prepared for enemy combatants from either above or from that door.
Also watch out for that dragon statue, since it might feel like coming to life.
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)19:52 No.17019935

    Maybe the Farseers do?

This look familiar to anyone else? Cheryl?
If not, we might be coming up on whatever Silent Hill has in store for you, Spike.
Be careful, and remember to let your allies help. Don't go it alone, we're in this together- friend.
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)19:55 No.17019956
Well, looks like we've got a puzzle on our hands. Now we have to figure out just which symbols to push in, or do they pop back out after being released? if that is so than we have a code to find.
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)19:56 No.17019971
He isn't really our friend. He's our employee. A damn good employee, but I don't think any of us staff members have actually hung out with him.
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)19:59 No.17019998
We seem rather fond of him. Even if the relationship is professional, and there are certainly members of our command staff here that would hang out with him given the opportunity.
Hell, we all were drinking that Rivendell booze with him and Holtz not long ago.

    Okay, I have an idea.
We need to press 4 tarots, and we have 4 people in the away team. My guess is that we need to match up the away team to tarots, and press the corresponding 4 tarots.
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)20:04 No.17020045
well while we try to think up the winning combo for the realworld door puzzle, lets take a closer look at the otherworld room that the away team is in.

Looks like a standard deck to me.

I wonder if we should be looking at cards to describe what stage they must go through here.
Judgement, The Hanged Man, Death, and the Hermit? All focused of resolution, absolution, closure, and introspection.
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)20:40 No.17020333
    >VIII - Justice (La Justice): a woman, sometimes blindfolded, holding a sword and set of scales. A very traditional allegory of justice, objectivity, rationality, and analysis,

    >X - The Wheel of Fortune (La Roue de la Fortune): a six or eight-spoked wheel decorated with elemental symbols and surrounded by different animals wearing wealthy and beggarly clothes. A symbol of fate and varying luck, fortunes, and opportunities, and the cycle of life. What goes up will go down, what goes down will go up.

Best match I could find for Cheryl:
    >II - The High Priestess (La Papesse): an old woman with a closed book, a symbol of hidden knowledge, wisdom, female mystery, and magic.

    Silent hill itself:
XVIII - The Moon (La Lune): two dogs howling at the moon, around a pool with a crab in it, with two towers in the background. Associated with creativity, inspiration, dreams, madness, illusions, fear, fantasy, the subconscious, and trickery.

Couldn't find an obvious match for Heather's Bum.
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)20:42 No.17020346
Meh, personality matching is too vague, and not something the cards descriptions are meant for. More of a description of a story or a life's journey.

Let's go ahead and try these:
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)20:44 No.17020366
And if that doesn't work, we phone a friend and see what Egon has to say on the subject, he's be the best expert we have for interpreting this if we can't.

    Doug's obviously the Hanged Man.
    Could always try both.
    >> OP 11/25/11(Fri)20:49 No.17020399

Let's try: Death, The Hanged Man, Justice, and the High Priestess.
    >> OP 11/25/11(Fri)20:57 No.17020472
The first three stick, but when you press The High Priestess, they all release.

Death, the Hanged man, Justice all stick.

    Hmm. Justice is obviously data.
The Hanged Man is most likely douglas.
    Death might be Cheryl.
Try the Wheel of Fortune for spike.
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)21:00 No.17020491
Or it could be going for the cards that can have particularly depressing interpretations: Death, Hanged Man, Devil, Moon.

I was figuring Spike for Death when I suggested it.
    Which else might describe Cheryl..
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)21:02 No.17020518
Hm. Perhaps The Moon for Silent Hill itself.
I mean, Cheryl basically IS Silent Hill.
Or, we could try The Fool. The Fool is where everything starts, and usually represents the protagonist. That'd be Cheryl here.
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)21:06 No.17020546
    Perhaps the Moon.
Represents dreams, nightmares, confusion, illusion, psychological conflict.
Thinking on the history of Alessa/Heather/Cheryl, that's not a bad fit.
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)21:06 No.17020548

The probe droid enters the Hanged Man, Death, Justice, and the Fool and the vault door slides up into the ceiling, revealing a room with a large key hanging down from a number of ceiling-mounted chains. The floor of this small vault room is covered with holes that descend into darkness.

OP Note: It actually flat out states in the wiki that Cheryl and Douglas are associated with the Fool and Hanged Man... I was surprised you didn't get them right off the bat.
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)21:31 No.17020698
Alright. So there's the key; but how do we get it to the guys in the Otherworld?
Or, maybe we don't need to get it to them. Maybe the act of taking the key is enough to unlock the door in the Otherworld. Either that, or dropping the key into one of the holes leads to the hole in the ceiling in the Otherworld.

Regardless, tell the away team to get ready for trouble, and have the probe droid go forward and grab the key. Have it avoid the holes where possible, and have its sensors scanning for possible hostiles.
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)21:35 No.17020728
Didn't think to look at their wiki entries for that.
Though we all seemed to agree on Douglas/Hanged-Man and Data/Justice.
Bit of a waffling on the Cheryl being Fool or Moon though.
Glad I was got it for Spike at least.

Onward brave probe! Hover over there and claim the key, and hope nothing too terrible happens.
    >> Anonymous 11/25/11(Fri)21:36 No.17020737

I'd say have both Data and the probe scan the holes for dimensional quantum flux bullshit. If they detect any, we should drop it through.

Kevlar actually is very bad against puncture and slashing. Also, our kinetic shields work a lot like Dune Holtzmann shields, so a melee weapon could get through.
And if he's able to get in close, than a sword may be better than a gun in close quarters, especially as we're using rifles, not PDW's or pistols.

Behind the door is a large gothic style worship hall with an impossibly high ceiling. Light streams in from many large stained glass windows depicting a blonde woman weeping red tears alternating with coiled red dragons, and carrion birds.

Behind row upon row of pews is an altar. There, a nun prays on her knees, her back turned toward you. In front of her is a tall humanoid in a longcoat, beneath which is a suit Its head is obscured by a streamlined mask, almost in the shape of a beak. It drags with it a very long katana, its blade easily five feet. A long scratch in the tiled floor of the cathedral leads from a door at the end of the hall to the altar, indicating how long the figure had been slowly advancing.

As you enter, the figure raises its weapon and with deceptive ease, decapitates the praying nun. The body collapses as the head rolls over to Spike's feet. Spike's face goes taut with emotion as he looks at the beautiful face staring lifelessly up at him.

First question is: is Silent Hill preying on Spike's guilt over Julia's death, or unresolved issues with Vicious, or a combination of the two?
Second question: is this a boss-fight, or are just supposed to run?

"Mr. Data, do not be fooled by the being's apparent speed; once combat is initiated, it will likely move much faster.
"Mr. Spiegel, you ended your fight with Vicious. You finally killed him, and supposedly put that chapter of your past behind you. What still keeps you there?"

    Pyramid Vicious.
Spike, you're not alone. You've got backup from Heather, Data, and some useless bum. For the love of fuck don't try to do everything yourself this time.
I don't know about Spike's relationship with Julia, so someone who is Cowboyier and/or more Bebopish can resolve that one.
Look for evil symbols on the floor; the idea is to lead Pyramid Vicious over them and apply bullets to him.

Data, you know the drill. Scan the place for hidden evil symbols and mechanics, if you're not currently applying bullets to and/or dodging the Pyramid Vicious.
Heather, try not to get yourself anywhere near the decapitating decapitator of decapitatage. If possible, just support Spike and apply some pressure to Vicous so Vicious can't get easymode cheap shots on Spike.
Douglas, don't stand near the decapitating decapitator of decapitatage. If possible, look for hidden items and switches and plot coupons and such.

As I recall, it was implied in the series that Spike and Vicious were friends back in Spike's Syndicate days. But something happened involving Julia, and things went to shit, forcing Spike to flee (and get a cybernetic eye), and creating a lot of bad blood between Vicious.

    I've been here. Watching. Waiting.

"She STILL died!" Spike shouts as you ask him your questions. "I took everything from Vicious... but he took everything from me, too!"

Pyramid Vicious suddenly breaks into a run, lifting his long-katana as he charges directly at Spike. The others scatter as the stained glass windows shatter, peppering those in the room with shards of sharp glass and covering the floor with it. Billowing clouds of mist begin to pour in from the windows, which now show only darkness outside the hall. Likewise, nearly all light in the hall is extinguished.

"Most of the hall is uniform, but I have located anomalies," Data reports. "They are not 'evil symbols', though. They just seem... out of place."

Data runs into Vicious, grabbing him and using his momentum to half push and half throw him towards the nearest symbol. Though he doesn't reach the symbol, Pyramid Vicious is hurled a sufficient distance that Spike is able to recover himself, get to his feet, and start jogging towards another one.

Spike fires a full magazine, then reloads, the bullets not affecting Corvus in the least. Finally the monster breaks into a lightning-fast charge as he did before, and Spike jumps out of the way.

Keep leading him over the first one again, I'd assume. Also, Spike has WAY too much endurance to be a regular human being.

    Transition from this:

    To this:

    Bad Corvus Head, no biscuit.

    Take 'em down Spike.
    >> Anonymous 11/26/11(Sat)02:06 No.17022715
No, there's still 1 more symbol left. We did Arm (Jet), Dice (Faye), and Dog (Ein). There's still the Smiley Face (Ed).
    >> Anonymous 11/26/11(Sat)02:09 No.17022733
No, we got all of them now, we got two on post when the grenade blew him from one into the next.
    >> Anonymous 11/26/11(Sat)02:11 No.17022749
No, it was the grenade from Doug that pushed Corvus Vicious into the Dog circle.
He hasn't been into the Smilie circle yet.

Corvus head, suddenly stops, turns, and THROWS its massive katana through the air like a javelin. The weapon catches Spike in the back, pinning him to the ground just short of his goal. Corvus Head shambles over to his prey as fast as he can, black blood sickly oozing from the open and jagged stump that is all that remains of his left arm. The monster ignores the gunfire directed at him by the other members of the team as he moves towards Spike, who lies still. Finally he reaches its quarry and pulls his sword free with one arm, leaning down to run it through Spike...

...and then suddenly Spike rolls onto his back and kicks up with his foot while grabbing Corvus Head's shoulders, throwing him over himself and into the circle, which shines with an orange light. Spike rolls over again, draws his phaser and fires, point blank into the monster. The thing gives out a long, pained groan, falling still as thousands of tiny smiling faces boil out from the final symbol and begin devouring the monster, leaving nothing behind save the long katana as they consume the final demon of Spike Spiegal.

Spike collapses with a long sigh, pulling himself up against the half-destroyed altar as the fire spreads to half the hall behind him. He shakily pulls out a cigarette, puts it in his mouth and then points at the spot where Corvus Head died, his thumb upright.

    >> Indonesian Gentleman 11/26/11(Sat)02:12 No.17022761
Nope, the symbol light brown, which is Ein's fur color.
We didn't see any yellow signs lighting up yet.

    All right.
    Spike, get the fuck out.
Heather, Bum, Data, look for a book or a black goblet before this whole fucking place becomes fire.
Once you've found the book, or the goblet, or ideally BOTH, get the everloving fuck out of the burning burning hellhole.

Wait, Data can set either his phaser rifle or Spike's phaser to disintegrate. It can be used to disintegrate what's on fire, denying fuel to the fire and preventing its spread.

    Cue this music:
    Replace 'pumpkin' with 'Corvus'.

"Mr. Data, please see to Mr. Spiegel's injuries. Spike, how you feeling down there? Everyone else intact?"
Make a note to have Data grab that damn big sword.

Mr. Data, perform emergency field medicine on Mr. Spiegal immediately!

Cheather and Doug, assess the fire, then start looking around the cathedral for potential weird puzzle shit items. Be mindful of the blaze.
    >> Anonymous 11/26/11(Sat)02:17 No.17022794
    Good plan.
And if that doesn't work, Data's immune to smoke inhalation damage, and can explore the room even as it becomes extremely On Fire.
    >> Anonymous 11/26/11(Sat)02:18 No.17022802
    I bet the Katana's a puzzle item.
Wait, Katana. Supernaturally sharp. We can use it to break Alessa's statue, I'll bet.
    >> Anonymous 11/26/11(Sat)02:18 No.17022805
If fire really does look to be a real concern we can have Data use a phaser to vaporize the burning pews.

    rolled 46 = 46

"We've been better... but a lot worse too," Cheryl says.

"I swear if you call me a bum one more time..." Douglas grumbles.

Data eventually manages to get the blaze under control, though it takes some time and much of the church is burned before he manages it. He then begins tending to Spike's wounds while the other two look around.

Explore a bit, get a feel for the area. Single level to the cathedral room?
Probably pointless, but anything to be seen out the broken windows?
    Any other doors or exits?
Signs of trap doors, or anything interesting around/on the sigils?
    >> Anonymous 11/26/11(Sat)02:30 No.17022905
Spike and Doug might be able to hang out. Maybe they can stay in the burned cathedral and search it for stuff while Heather and Data finish the rest of the puzzle.
I know there's a Black Goblet or a Book in there somewhere.
    >> Anonymous 11/26/11(Sat)02:32 No.17022922
Well, we have a Katana, and the only likely use is on the Alyssa Statue.
Spike should hang back somewhere safe. Maybe he can be in charge of "Looking over rooms we've already cleared for healing items". It's a vital role in every video game.

"Well, Mr. Spiegel, it appears that you will need to be sitting the rest of this one out.
"Also, could someone check the altar for a hidden compartment?"

At least he has that shot of RED he took prior to coming down here, if it comes to that.

Is there anything that Data can do to improve/stabilize Spike's condition? If he can even mend Spike enough so that he can walk unassisted, that would be fantastic.
    >> Anonymous 11/26/11(Sat)02:33 No.17022932
    Alright now what?
The only thing I can think of is to use the sword on the Alessa statue, but I don't really feel comfortable doing that.

Data picks up the long katana just fine.

There is a door at the rear of the cathedral that Corvus Head apparently entered by, given the long scar on the floor where he dragged the tip of his sword.

    >> Anonymous 11/26/11(Sat)02:37 No.17022956
Okay, let's have Cheryl and Data check out the door that Corvus Head came through, while Doug covers their back.

We need to find a secure place we he can be until we're ready to leave.

    >> Anonymous 11/26/11(Sat)02:40 No.17022979
It's 2:30am and we're autosaging. Let's check out the room behind Corvus. The Altar, Confession booths, and where the Nun was standing are good places to check.
ESPECIALLY the Confession booths. There's always something awesome hidden in those, if the curtains to enter them aren't locked.
    >> Anonymous 11/26/11(Sat)02:42 No.17022991
Add: Data should also tricorder those places to look for hidden switches or compartments. Because why not? Might be somethin' useful.
    >> OP 11/26/11(Sat)02:43 No.17022999

Yeah since we're autosaging this is a good place to stop, I think. We'll open that room in the back in the next TG QUEST! (which will be Sunday at 7 PM.)
