    IT'S TG QUEST!!!

    Last Thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/17087235/

The White Mage's magic fails to overcome the dark enchantments empowering the undead mobs as many of the Recruits once again suffer a morale break and begin to scatter, forcing Star-Lord to concentrate on keeping them in line instead of kicking ass. The misfire of a Blaster Bomb within allied ranks only worsen then as some of the X-COM veterans go flying, armor torn and breached.

While your forces attempt to rally, the undead monsters have almost finished closing the distance...

    Skyscraper Invasion status:
TG Recruit Platoon(22/36. Equipped with Pulse Rifles, Laser Rifles, and Fat Men.)
Drone Squad (8/16) (Includes 2 Protoss Observers. Led by an HK-50.)
    1 X-COM Veteran Squad. (9/12)
1 squad (12/12) of Sandmen with Mass Rifles.
    White Mages:3/3
    Psionicists: 2/3
    >> Anonymous 12/03/11(Sat)17:39 No.17096029
Dammit you rookies! Get back into the firing line!

White Mages, get back to support. Psionics, see if you can use some telekinesis to immobilize the tanks for the Sandmen to destroy.

X-COM, fire a blaster bomb at the rear of the zombie horde.
    >> OP 12/03/11(Sat)17:48 No.17096148

Your troops scramble to follow your orders...
    >> OP 12/03/11(Sat)17:52 No.17096190
    rolled 15 = 15

Star-Lord succeeds in rallying the Recruits just as the first wave of undead breaks upon your lines. Claws and teeth are deflected by alien alloys as the X-COM troops hold the line, the White Mages working to heal or raise some of the recruits as they fall.

Blaster Bombs and a few Fat Men explode at the rear of the undead force, blasting more than a few of the horrible chimera-like beasts and Tanks to oblivion as well as shredding numerous zombies.

The Sandmen's mass rifles continue to cut a bloody swath through the enemy horde as Star-Lord leaps forward and cuts a Tank in two with Anguirel.

    Skyscraper Invasion status:

Okay, we need backup, I think. OP, is there any way we can send Rex' true name to his rival in Transylvania, preferably instantaneously (of course, if it might mean that he gets power over the horde, don't do it.)? Also, try and get respawns back up.
    >> OP 12/03/11(Sat)17:55 No.17096241
    rolled 89 = 89

Unfortunately this respite does not last long as a group of bloated, diseased zombies waddle-charge towards the drones. When the droids go to blast them, the zombies explode in a shower of acid. The remainder of your combat drones save HK-50 fall to this devastating attack even as a Tank grabs Star-Lord in one massive hand and begins to slam him against the concrete floor.

Concentrated fire from the rest of your troops begins to thin the undead ranks, but your losses are getting bad.

And maybe magazines of Safeguard conversion darts.
    >> OP 12/03/11(Sat)17:58 No.17096265
Star-Lord turns his situation to his advantage, swinging Anguirel around to plunge into the Tank's skull when he raises him up again. The monster falls and Star-Lord gracefully jumps to the ground, sword in hand.

Another series of explosions shakes the ground as more Blaster Bombs and Fat-Men rip apart the heaviest concentration of enemy forces. The undead hordes halt, then turn and flee, deeper into the tunnels, as if called by some unseen force.

Outside, Char reports that the perimeter is beginning to suffer probing attacks from groups of undead, but the mechs have easily repulsed them so far.

Nanny-bag everyone we can while the White Mages and the EMH revive who they can.

Dammit, we lost a Sandman. Those losses are extremely difficult to replace.

Basically, if you need an army on the spot, fast, you shoot these into your enemies and the nanomachines make them go BOOM! They explode into more Safeguard.

And yeah, Safeguard are the enemy grunts from BLAME!

Is the Observer top-side able to see what numbers the zombies have, and if they're massing for a concentrated attack?

If so, we may need to deploy the Overlord and some of our reserves.

Also, is the Observer able to provide firing solutions for the Oncoming Storm and the Relentless so that they can provide tactical orbital strike support to the mech team?
    >> Anonymous 12/03/11(Sat)18:04 No.17096328
I don't know. Hurt, I guess? Safeguard doesn't seem to have trouble downloading new bodies as long as there's a conversion tower in range. Shooting the hapless victim first just comes off as unnecessary sadism.

Patch up who we can, and have the EHM beam up the nanny-bagged to shuttlecraft with him. Have runners carry them up if he can't get a lock.
    >> OP 12/03/11(Sat)18:18 No.17096446
So far every time the zombies have massed the Mad Cats have dispersed them with heavy weapons fire.

Orbital strikes are a terrible idea while your away team is underground in the area you are striking. Your weapons officer will tell you as much.

The White Mages have already raised who they can, and everyone that can be bagged, has been. The White Mages are sorry to report they are running out of mana. (1/4 MP left.)
    >> Anonymous 12/03/11(Sat)18:18 No.17096456
If our losses get much worse, I'm going to start pushing to have them pull out and bring down the Inde to cut a hole down to our target and have everyone fire into said hole.

Hm, we're in a fuzzy area. Game-wise, the points recovered between battles, even the one-after-another deep dungeon fights, so going by that, if we can hold a good 'break' in the battle, they should be able to recharge.
    >> Anonymous 12/03/11(Sat)18:33 No.17096600
Leopard can probably stay on patrol. We should have the EMH and a shuttlecraft around here, let him take on the down and the dead. And throw-up a forcefield between him and the hold, just in case.

Deploy the Hyper Mega Launcher to the Hyaku Shiki and tell Char to use it to make a clearing. Don't want any buildings hiding zombies, right?

Bring in the Brasta and 1 VF-25 as air cover. No melee combat for them. Brasta should stick to using Eagle Shot, Clutch Sniper and ACP Faiz (ranged).

The VF-25 should be using its lasers whenever possible to save on ammo.

I'm curious though. What would happen when you hit/kill Azalin with SPIGOT-VX? There's a dimensional tear that happens on impact, as a side-effect.

Meh, that isn't our problem here. Topside is decent, it's that underworld we're getting hammered in.
    >> Anonymous 12/03/11(Sat)18:51 No.17096768
How many levels did we breach?

As it is, we may need to send the Overlord and reinforcements to help hold the ground floor while we try to penetrate the underground defenses again.
    >> Anonymous 12/03/11(Sat)18:52 No.17096774
We need a better plan for getting down to Azalin, we're getting chewed-up -literally- going through that place.
    >> Anonymous 12/03/11(Sat)18:55 No.17096800
    That's the real question.
If we've only scratched the first levels, we need to take some seriously different action.
If we're deeper than I think, we might press forward as we have.
    >> Anonymous 12/03/11(Sat)18:57 No.17096823
We could try using all of our heavy weapons and pin-point singularity laser strikes to simply blow open a hole all the way down to where Azalin is, but I doubt that it would work.

We could try going through the tunnels again, but this time using the architecture to our advantage. Use doorways as chokepoints, seal side doors behind us so that we can't be outflanked.
The exploding acid zombies are a pain though.
    >> Anonymous 12/03/11(Sat)18:59 No.17096842
    Well, the plan here: >>17096456
Is pretty good. If we get desperate enough to take that route.
    >> Anonymous 12/03/11(Sat)18:59 No.17096844

OP, as I recall, ANON can't get a detailed map of the underground area for whatever reason (bad rolls!).

But would it be possible to get a rough layout of the underground through some sort of sonar or vibrational geographic profiling system? Like approximate areas of where there aren't solid rock/concrete that could possibly be rooms or hallways?

If we can do that, then we may be able to burrow and get down into the subterranean lair without having to go through many levels of zombies or whatever Azalin/Wesker has set up for defenses.
    >> Anonymous 12/03/11(Sat)19:02 No.17096865
Let's just burn a hole through and work from there. The Hyaku Shiki is ready for that, and we can top it off with the Brasta if we send it down.
    >> Anonymous 12/03/11(Sat)19:02 No.17096870

Don't try firing from orbit, our sensors barely punch through.
    >> Anonymous 12/03/11(Sat)19:08 No.17096940

One idea is to clear the area and have our Singularity-Laser equipped capital ship to fire a series of low-intensity pulses at the targeted area (after our forces clear out). This should, in effect, work like a giant drill, but a lot bigger and using lasers that disintegrate things. The low intensity should prevent us from disintegrating too much or causing a huge explosion, and the volley of small pulses can allow the targeting computer to finely control where the laser should go and adjust the intensity accordingly.

That's just what I can think of. I'm open to other suggestions if they're safer or more effective.
    >> Anonymous 12/03/11(Sat)19:10 No.17096950
We have an Observer over the city that can provide better firing solutions and targeting data.

And with our team out of the basement, we should be able to fire without endangering our crew.

Well, this is why, as a basis.

    Part 1

Keep in mind that the Kshatriya is almost thirty metres tall. That's a big hole for six funnels (and it's most defintiely six funnels, given that Marida makes a similar hole later with six). But the thing is, despite how much damage the Kshatriya's funnels can dish out, when they get turned against her, Marida is able to easily take it on her binders.

The Mega Bazooka Launcher can make a hole nearly as big or even bigger.
    >> Anonymous 12/03/11(Sat)19:14 No.17096987
IF we go for cutting our way down, we'd need to bring a ship down into the atmosphere with the firepower to cut that far. In which case the Inde is the best choice, either to melt a hole or make a cut-out and tractor it up.

The REAL question though: We've made it half-way, do we press on on foot with our troops, or bring in a spaceship to battle an arch-lich?

Less familiar with our mech-firepower than the Federation's, do you think we can carve a reasonable hole with them?
    >> Anonymous 12/03/11(Sat)19:17 No.17097003
    Something to consider then.

    >> Anonymous 12/03/11(Sat)19:17 No.17097008
It might not be powerful enough, and we'll resort to SPIGOT-VX to punch a hole.

Problem is we risk making a dimensional tear with the ranged version, so we need to use the MELEE version.
    >> Anonymous 12/03/11(Sat)19:19 No.17097020
SPIGOT-VX (melee) looks safer and it's a sustained beam.

    >> Anonymous 12/03/11(Sat)19:23 No.17097043
Hrm. Well OP, it looks like, while we are discussing how exactly to do it, no one has pushed to have our ground forces keep through the meatgrinder, so I'd say have them start pulling out and grab anything valuable that is or isn't nailed down on their way up.
Have them pull back onto the dropship while we try our 'burrowing' techniques, and prep to bail out again once we get deep enough.
    >> Anonymous 12/03/11(Sat)19:26 No.17097065

I kinda figured we could use magic to send the message to Strahd, who might use this information to directly attack Rex via magic ( I don't know if they'd be able battle via their magic, or if Strahd would have to actually come to Raccoon city to throw throw the spells personally),hopefully getting them locked in a life-or-death struggle, allowing both teams to proceed with less attention from our targets. the survivor would hopefully be subsequently weakened, and we would then be able to mop up.

However, it may be too late in the game for that now.

Brasta and Crowe aren't down there yet.

But it seems everyone has agreed to at least try the drill idea.
    So, here's the plan:

    1. Get everyone out of the underground, and into the Leopard.
    2. Have Char attempt to drill down through the complex with his beam weapons.
    3. If 2 fails then we will do a second vote:
3a. Bring down Crowe and the Brasta, and have him try.
3b. Bring down the Indefatigable to drill down using its phasers.

Let's get going, we've wasted too much time with plans that aren't feasible.

The high power beam weapons do an exemplary job of melting through dirt, rock, and steel as it bores through the ground towards its destination. Too exemplary. As Char fires his weapon again and again, the ground shakes a little.

Maybe a support beam was melted through, maybe the shift in the foundations was too much, or maybe the heat from the beam hit a gas line which caused a chain reaction. But whatever the cause, the skyscraper begins to collapse, tipping over and falling to the ground as the subterranean levels begin to cave in...
    >> OP 12/03/11(Sat)19:36 No.17097144
Luckily for you the building collapses mostly in the other direction, sparing your mechs from harm, and the ground troops were already evacuated far enough to avoid serious injury.

Now you simply have to figure out a way to get to the lowest levels that are now completely cut off from the rest of the world.

Why is the Indefatigable flying down?
I thought we were going to have Char fire up again because his beams were burning through the levels.
    >> OP 12/03/11(Sat)20:14 No.17097484
Approximately six minutes into drilling, all contact is suddenly cut off from the Indefatigable as it begins to rise, almost in an attempt to fly away. Then it begins to wobble shortly before spiraling out of control and smashing into a nearby row of buildings about 300 meters from the perimeter, covering a good deal of the ship in rubble and debris.
    >> Anonymous 12/03/11(Sat)20:17 No.17097516

    Ah, shit.

I guess it's harder for Azalin to detect the Hyaku Shiki's blast rather than the Infatigable's sustained phaser beam.

Raise communications with the Inde to find out what just happened and to get a status report.
Get the Leopard and the mechs over there to defend the Inde from zombies and so that the EMH and the White Mages heal any injured while the Sandmen attempt to help the engineers with repairs.

All communications are still down, you'd have to send someone inside.

The mechs pull out from the perimeter and redeploy around the Indefatigable. Exterior inspections shows damage to the hull from the impact, but sensors do not show anything like a reactor breach or the like.

Hyaku Shiki's out of ammo/energy after the first boring attempt, so I went to the Inde. I didn't see that the Brasta was in the original plan, I thought people were mentioning it to try and deploy it after the fact. My bad. In that case...

Brasta deploys its SPIGOT attack to bore through to the lower level of the base. Having more power to it, it does so at a far faster rate than the Hyaku Shiki. Then, as the tunnel is complete, something... odd happens. The very air itself seems to quake as the attack reaches its climax and the sounded of hollow laughter throbs from the air itself. Then after a few seconds the quaking ceases and the laughter dies down. The tunnel to the lowest level is complete.

Now that we've got this hole, and we're men (at least, most of the ground team is), we have our job.

First, check that it's clear. I wish we had more droids. Use the sensors that we have available to try to see what's down there. Is it possible for the Mad Cats to use their lasers to seal off the sides of the tunnel? There's still lots of zombies in that complex.

However, in addition to these standard trappings of a forbidden laboratory, a section of the room has a large amount of old books piled around it. Damn. After 10,000 years, Azalin's free! Now, it's time to conquer Earth.
Annoyingly, it's likely he'll be prepared for spaceships and mechs and blaster bombs now.

Since the undead aren't as well-organised any more, our surviving forces should at least be able to loot the underground for loot. The only other time in the quest where we suffered a higher % of losses was our SCP's expedition to see if our weapons work.
Let's see ... X-com wounded, Sandman down, Psion down, BLU team likely obliterated, Drones almost completely fucked, /tg/ Recruits badly wounded.
We probably won't have the funding to replace all of that.
I suggest we focus on the reconnaissance drones first, and see how badly the Castlevania team gets fucked before considering further.
Good thing about Blaster Launchers is they don't need much training to operate, and Psi Amps train ridiculously quickly (each ATTEMPT is the same as a kill made with a gun, and if you aren't making at least 12 psi attempts per mission, you're doing it wrong). Azalin will become an anti-us, the mirror version of us.
He will loot Canons for weapons, magic, and power, regardless of the damage to the fabric of reality, amassing a stockpile of weaponry to rival the entire TG navy. He will go from universe to universe, commanding his forces from on high atop his Golden Throne, his fortress moving between Canons and leaving naught but ash in its wake.

Ask Wesker if he wants to move away from the phat lewt.
Apply Nanites and Anti-virus directly to Wesker.
Apply single-target weapons directly to Wesker if he does not vacate the phat lewt.
If he does vacate the phat lewt, apply maximum firepower to Wesker.

So, tumbling through space, we have: The Orz, Kane, Starscream, Ahriman, and Azalin. I hope they spend most of their time killing each-other, and don't run facefirst into someone both Charismatic and Evil enough to form them into a team (e.g. Nameless One's Practical Incarnation, Gravemind).

Wesker draws a handgun and empties the magazine at HK-50 in the span of a few seconds. Bullets ricochet off the assassin droid's armor and HK gets off a return shot that misses as he begins to run away from the loot, attempting to lure Wesker away. He gets a good look at the containment tube in the center as he moves past it.

The tube at the center of the room contains what looks to be like a horribly bloated and surgically, chemically, possibly even virally altered young woman. Though she might've once been pretty, her puffy, bloated flesh now oozes with open sores. Several tubes are attached to her body, and her half open eyes stare into space, not seeming aware of her predicament or surroundings, possibly the only mercy of her condition. Long brown hair floats limply in the green-tinted liquid of the tank. Her neck is either gone or simply concealed under the layers of excess flesh, making it seem that her head protrudes directly from her torso. Oddly enough, HK-50 detects that in the right light, the maligned flesh of the girl sparkles.

Well, Wesker's moving away somewhere. Have the Storm detect reality distortions, the Protoss Observer find anything cloaked/hiding, and the Abjurist use detect magic.
It's a shame. If our magic users survived this, they'd have enough XP to catapult them up a few levels.
We'll have to go further into the complex to find Wesker, and hopefully find enough crap to make this meatgrinder not a complete and utter loss.

Until Op rolls a 1 on our "what do we loot?" phase. Every book is the necronomicon, every item is cursed, all the high-tech gear serves only to mutate, and all turkey sandwiches looted from the cafeteria are a little dry.

    Safeguard Overview:

Safeguard are basically the automated defence system of the City, they'll destroy anything that doesn't have Net Terminal Genes and attack anything that tries to penetrate the Megastructure.

    >>Basic Safeguard Exterminators are humanoid machines that can be created anywhere in the City within range of a Structure Conversion Tower or similar system, they're simply built on the spot by reconfiguring the local mass into them. Generally they don't build more than they need to do, but on occasions like the assault on Toha Heavy Industries they've been created in such numbers that there's literally a sea of them. They're very durable and immune to pretty much all conventional weapons.

    >>Mid-level Safeguard like Sanakan are vastly superior to the basic Exterminators and are armed with Gravitational Beam Emitters capable of rapid fire and nanodarts. Gravitational Beam Emitters can punch meters-wide, tens-of-kilometers-long holes through ordinary matter on their lowest setting and can also penetrate the Megastructure (which resists gigaton explosions without deformation). (EMPHASIS: )Their nanodarts let them subvert other lifeforms, instantly turning them into basic exterminators or otherwise destroying them. They're also capable of complete regeneration by reconfiguring the local mass to repair themselves.

They're good for transporting tubes of SUEs, and for picking over the ruins looking for shit.

The Mists will remain in this area until the SUE is dealt with somehow. If we're keeping her here until we've completed research (which might take days, or months), then that's an area unsolved, with mist-shrouded zombies.
If you want to rescue her, then move her out to the middle of an unpopulated area.

We're not doing a survivor pickup until:
    A. The Mists recede, which will allow us to:
    B. Fight through hordes of zombies with appropriate satellite data and air support, so we don't get owned, and

Use a photon torpedo dialed to 15 kilotons and have it detonate 400 feet above the center of the city. The airburst will minimize fallout and maximize the efficiency of the weapon.

What the fuck are you on about?
There are 50 people, holed up in a building in Riverside. There is no searching of fighting through hordes. They are right there where we know they are, just pick them up.
The dropship can see friggin' Riverside from Raccoon, that's how close we're talking.

I'd like to see if the Mists recede when we kill the SUE before we nuke the entire city.
The city's being completely nuked either way, but if the mists recede, we can look at the city with the scanners for any potential recruits/loot/magic shit before we blow it up.

    >There are 50 people, holed up in a building in Riverside.
You haven't considered the possibility of there being other groups of survivors, have you?
    No, no you have not.

How about we all just calm down?
    Nobody blow up anything.
Just sit tight while the research is going on.
    That's it.
    Just breathe.

And if we are just sitting around waiting for the research results, might as well check on the survivors while we are effectively done where we are.

I say we hold out on blowing the city.
    We've got breathing room now.
Send out the Mechs on patrol therough the scity with the Sandmen clinging onto the sides and the X-Com troopers flying above them. I want to rescue whoever we can, if possible.

Also, scan for that Anti-Luck Artifact everyone is so keen on.

Also, keep the goddamned SUE onboard one of our spare shuttles! If it get's out, we can self-destruct the damn thing instead of letting it loose on the Storm! We are NOT putting resources into the SUE just yet, we can put it on the backburner for now.
Better to bring it home to Base after this world is cleaned up.

I'm all for the cure, we just don't need to move her. We already have the research goal just from the sample.
We have the team sit tight for a bit.

We don't need to rush through. We've been making good time. We're at something around 5-6 hours since we got the two-week warning.

The big bads in this area are down, no one needs to panic.
    >> OP 12/04/11(Sun)01:39 No.17100289
It is a fierce debate in the Oncoming Storm's command bridge, but though it is close, the decision to take the S.U.E. tube is made. It is festooned with spare Reality Emitters and loaded into the Leopard, as are the survivors. A few odds and ends from the lab are also loaded with the hopes that more thorough analysis will gain you something.

All TG forces living or dead are removed from the field.

The photon torpedo lights up the night like a new sun before wiping out the fallen city of Raccoon in a few seconds. The death of that city is a mercy killing though, given the undead state of its inhabitants.

When the city is destroyed the mists over the entire Americas begin to roll back.

And I think that's a good stopping point. Next thread on Monday, 7PM.
