    Updates are coming, I promise.

Our MC's running character sheet can be found here.

But that's gonna be changing. Last thread we went to see some people about learning to help Jako, we wound up training for 3 weeks to that note and for self-improvement. So let's make some magic.

Naruto is a gateway anime of the worst kind. It's a bad series, a clusterfuck of story and characterization that isn't very well done by any aspect, but which attempts to compensate for its weaknesses by adding in excessive shipping faggotry and DARKNESS. The normal anon can see this as the shit it is, and may enjoy it, hate it or be indifferent to it, but all the while recognizing that the series itself, regardless of their opinion, is plain bad.

However, these very aspects that try to smear over the shit of its core make it a breeding ground for aspie, unsociable underageb& faggots who engage in every kind of faggotry both online and in the real world. The superpowered characters all trying their hardest to look cool, the jutsus, peculiar, colorful clothes, the whole ninja faggotry and everything about the Naruto world fuels their escapist fantasies, while the pity-party character backgrounds, emphasis on revenge, and overall preachiness of the series make it fit just right with the mary-sueish drives of your average preteen and his sense of unwarranted self-importance towards the world. Exactly the kind of shit that makes little kiddies and underageb& retards eat this shit right the fuck up.

Naruto is basically THE series to attract the most hated anime fanbase known to /a/, which is why, regardless of individual opinions, it is the responsibility of every anon to troll the fuck out of this show and everyone who likes it, and ensure that no Naruto threads ever encourage the newfriends to show their faces here.

    Cool story bro.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)07:56 No.17143151
    My suggestion for nindo.

    >With these eyes, I see my path. With these fists I will defend. As long as their is breath in my body, I will never surrender!

The eyes obviously represent the byakugan, the fist are about his general gentle fist style and well the last one is shonen hero moxie.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)07:58 No.17143163

Personally, I like the OP's suggestion more

"I will one day control this world. I will never let misfortune befall those dear to me. I will shape this world for myself and those I love."

It's motivated by good intentions, and reflects both the slightly darker and diplomatic aspects of our character.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)08:01 No.17143177

The show is that bad. The setting had potential for awesome, and was quickly drowned in bullshit.

Thus, this game was made, where we slowly and deliberately removed all the bad from it.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)08:03 No.17143183
Eh, I don't like 'I will control this world' a little too..Kira to me.

Maybe more like 'I will reshape this world with these two hands' or something.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)08:08 No.17143204

Personally, the 'control' hits the exact right tone for me.

It's supposed to be a little creepy. Our character isn't all loyalty and happiness, he's a cunning conniving motherfucker who thinks the world needs to change dramatically.

He's currently gaining personal power and gathering friends. Inari is the next step, and currently the biggest obsticle between him and his (currently vaguely defined) goals. How he goes about trying to resolve this situation is probably going to be a character-defining moment.

He might make a turn for the better or worse, but right now it reflects him as he is: Trying to fix things, not afraid to get his hands dirty, trying not to drag others down with him.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)12:02 No.17144352
While I agree that in comparison to, say, Shimaru, Shingen is a conniving motherfucker (admittedly, not saying much since Shimaru's solution to fighting a living god was to hit him with a sword till he dies), wasn't our original concept and Shingen's motivation to prove that even though he's from a Branch House that he can surpass the Main House?
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)12:06 No.17144391

    Shimaru: Tactical Genius.

Really though, it was an evolution of character. He wanted to prove his worth in the clan, but as he grew in power and ability, he started taking a broader view.

His clan still matters, but so does a lot of things.

I have a feeling that once we settle things with Inari, things are going to kick into over-drive.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)12:13 No.17144447
    I suppose.
Though I would think that our failure in how we handled Inari's situation 3 years back would force Shingen to re-examine his choices for repercussions far down the road, and introduce doubt into whether his control would actually be for the better.

You couldn't save one girl; how do you expect to save the world?
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)12:21 No.17144514

He acted emotionally, and panicked immediately afterwards.

In retrospect, 'save the girl' was the correct instinct, but he fucked up on the follow-through by panicking and running away.

Just so you know, our back and forth is pretty much on the exact level I'm seeing his internal conflict at.

"Did I fuck up because I wasn't good enough, or because the idea itself was flawed?"

I have some.... interesting ideas for some long term goals, depending on how the Inari situation pans out.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)12:56 No.17144838
    >In retrospect, 'save the girl' was the correct instinct, but he fucked up on the follow-through by panicking and running away.
Yes, and that's exactly why he should have doubts as to whether he can handle being a controller, or if it's all doomed to failure.
When it mattered, when it really counted and a person was depending on Shingen, he dropped the ball. He failed, and he still can't fix the consequences of his mistakes.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)13:03 No.17144909

A situation he was totally unprepared for.

It should be noted that a lot of this 'manipulation/control' talk was just a theory until said fuck-up.

That could be the event that set him down the road he's on now: He fucked up, goes learns discipline/gains power, returns to find the situation's gotten worse since he wasn't there to deal with it.

If anything, I can only see the events so far only spurring him to become more involved, etc. He might be deluding himself into thinking he's doing only this to fix his wrongs that hurt Inari, but in reality, this is what he's been preparing to do all along.

Hell, this situation with Inari's almost like a.... perfect.... test....

    Mother. FUCKER.

    >By the way, I am greatly enjoying this discourse on characterization.

Good discussion about Nindo. However we have 30 MP to spend. And you guys have to spend it, not me.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)16:09 No.17146424
I want to start the construction of our layered signature items, starting with the bandage/bag hybrid vest. On a related note- since the bags are exceptional at hiding their contents, could we weave the bandages in such a way that the bags are hidden as well and take the always armed perk, effectively countering it's weakness?

I'd also spend ten points in blitz to get us to speed rank 3.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)16:18 No.17146519
I could have sworn we had gotten Blitz 2 already, but if not, we need to get it, and Speed Familiarity.
    >> KumaSennin !!hAxKShXKS9j 12/08/11(Thu)17:03 No.17146947
Hell no. We have Blitz 1.
So Blitz 2 is 10 MP. Speed Familiarity is 3 MP. 17 left.

    Or is it 15?
    >> KumaSennin !!hAxKShXKS9j 12/08/11(Thu)17:13 No.17147037
    It's only 10.

Standard skill prices. 1 MP for Rank 1-2, 2 MP for 3-4, and 3 MP for Rank 5
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)17:15 No.17147065

We're going to mould and control this world. Diplomacy is needed.

It's not too clear in the rules, will manipulation use diplomacy or will it be another stat?
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)17:23 No.17147142
Erm, guys, we still need to beat Inari, so let's concentrate on speed and power. Diplomacy won't do us any good if we will be transformed into hedgehog once again. How about taking chakra dimming? As that old man said, there are different ways to beat a man with eyes on his back. But what if you can't see the man, which sees you?
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)17:29 No.17147200

We cannot beat the world down by ourselves.

Our Way already is that of control and moulding of the world into that which we desire. To do that, we need allies, we need soldiers, we need influence.

The last time we ran into that training group from the Earth, no one could do diplomacy worth a damn and we were suppose to be the leader.

The leader doesn't need to be the best in fighting but he must be able to come up with alternate solutions instead of always using a battering ram.

And if we need to capture Inari, we have Jako and our cousin to back us. We can formulate a plan to entrap and outwit her, we don't need to do it just by ourselves.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)17:42 No.17147354
We already have Chakra Blackout, the top tier perk of the Chakra Dimming tree.

We should increase Diplomacy, but only by a small amount. We need to concentrate on personal strength and speed right now; all shinobi leaders are chosen not just for their leadership, but also their combat skills.

Voting to increase speed to Blitz 3 (10 pts), increase Diplomacy to 3 (3 pts) and create a jutsu designed for detection via chakra. I'm thinking a chakra spiderweb rather than an active and visible chakra pulse.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)17:43 No.17147377
Listen, I don't want to be skeptic, but how did our recent encounter with Inari end? I can't call it a success. You are right, we have allies, but they are no stronger than us. And we don't need Jako killing delicious yandere. Moreover, we've been training in the middle of nowhere for 3 weeks doing jumps, sprinting and acrobatics - how exactly could we improve our diplomacy?
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)17:45 No.17147405
Chakra spiderweb? Sounds good but wouldn't it be more expensive, than chakra echolocation? Or, if we are insired by spiders, then chakra web is good.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)17:47 No.17147435
How about creating jutsu, that will allow us to directly control chakra, creating swords, kunais, shurikens and different useful stuff. Maybe a whole chakra mountain someday.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)17:50 No.17147462

    Voting for diplomacy to 5.

When we run into Inari, we might be able to talk her down, get her to stop.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)17:51 No.17147476
I was thinking of thin lines of chakra, less than the thickness of a human hair, spread out in a 3-dimensional sphere in a spiderweb-like pattern.
All space inside of the sphere doesn't have to be monitored, like with a chakra pulse; just enough so that a person can't pass through without breaking some chakra lines.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)17:56 No.17147527
    No. No bigger than 3
    Great idea
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)18:06 No.17147657
It's more efficient than the chakra pulse, but it has the problem of being immobile.

Maybe it would be best to have both?
The chakralocation pulses can be when we're on the move, and the chakra-web can be when we stop.

I've been calculating these at the base price of 2 points for a ninjutsu technique. If that's acceptable, then we should have enough points that we could get:
    Blitz 3 (10pts) + Diplomacy 3 (3pts) + chakralocation (2pts) + chakra-web (2pts)
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)18:12 No.17147717

Diplomacy should be at least 4.

Considering our range of skills, we have none in any face-type skills.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)18:16 No.17147753
I looked at the character sheet...what kind of ninjutsu does this character know?

    It doesnt say.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)18:23 No.17147834
We COULD increase it to 4, but we'd have to drop either chakralocation or chakra-web.

I'm pretty sure we don't have any ninjutsu's beyond the basic Clone jutsu.
Though the character sheet is missing Chakra Compression (which allows us access to great amounts of stored chakra, but we have to concentrate to access it, and improper usage will kill us by age 30) and the Iron Fist technique taught to us by our dad.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)18:27 No.17147877
So this character only knows ONE ninjutsu- Bunshin?

Does he at least know the four basics? Bunshin, Replacement, Rope Untying and Transformation?

    Or is he like Lee?

We do have far-fist, however I don't know if it's statted as a jutsu or just a long range application of the gentle fist.
We also have the thousand flurry we learned during our first meeting with the Mallard, however we've yet to experiment with it so the statblock is unknown currently.
I swore we had a genjutsu that targeted a single target and stunned them.

Also, don't we have points to allocate for our main stats since we rose up a rank last thread?
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)19:19 No.17148381
    Okay, show of hands.
Assuming that we can pick up one of the detection jutsus for 2 points, choose:
    A. 2 detection jutsus and Diplomacy 3
    B. 1 detection jutsu and Diplomacy 4

And include which detection jutsu if you choose B.

    I'm voting for A.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)19:23 No.17148415

Byakugan is like a wide range 'detect magic' and you can see chakra flows, yeah. But a Byakugan user can still get put under a fucking genjutsu and fucked completely over.

Counter-Genjutsu training is super important, even for a goddamn Byakugan User.

    We're a special Jounin already.

Instead of dicking around with these Chunin level skills, we might as well be looking into summons. Most high level Jounins had some special summon.

B and use the rest of the points to acquire a summon contract. Perhaps with the Frogs or the Slugs.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)20:16 No.17149044
Summoning is actually very rare. Hardly something most people have. Plus it's 15 MP.

I think the spider-web thing would be a good idea.

Also get at least diplomacy three.

Then start upping our Byakugan strength/control. It gets high enough, we're almost as good at spotting incoming threats and shit as a Sharangan user.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)21:42 No.17150208

Yeah, let's no do summons for now. We're already trying to over diversify a little bit, what with trying to be a diplomancer, A master of Gentle Fist, Lightning based techniques, Chakra detection, etc.

Also, is our Taijutsu the absolute highest we can go right now? Because if it isn't, we need to fix that.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)22:11 No.17150549
And after we get our webbing chakra thing, we can get a spider summoning to accompany it, later on. A spiders who can either inject medicine or venom, etc. etc. We'll be like Orochimaru but much less creepy.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)22:17 No.17150619
I believe, you wanted to say much MORE creepy. Just imagine: A giant hairy spider, towering over our enemies, paralyzing venom dripping from it's fangs, which threads webs of chakra. Should you someone caught, not only your chakra, but their body will be slowly digested by acid...
And what I wanted to say - Later, we will need a spider summon.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)22:18 No.17150641

    >Less Creepy
    >Spiders instead of snakes

    Pick one.

    >Spider summon

Why? Why is everybody obsessed with getting a summon? They are much less wide-spread in the era, and not as useful as you guys seem to think.

We can potentially go Blitz 5. Blitz. 5. That's teleport anywhere on the planet fast.

Besides, summons are extremely overplayed on the whole, it is possible to make an effective character without relying on summons, and it doesn't really seem to fit with the entire rest of the concept.

Alright: Pro spider people, I know you think the idea sounds cool, but you have to consider the following:

    1. Other than the chakra net, there is absolutely nothing to link us to spiders. Nothing. Remember in the first quest when Shimaru was told that he couldn't learn to summon crocs because croc's style was so fundamentally different It'd never work out?

    2. Our character, stat wise, is built around High-speed Taijutsu, and extreme Chakra control. Please note how this is in no way like spiders.

    3. Our character, Mentally, is a very hands on manipulator. He's not some distant chess-master, he's much closer to a magnificent bastard, and he is by far his own best pawn.

If you guys are so desperate for a summon, you should be looking for one that favors a hands on approach, extreme self control, cunning, and extremely adaptable.

    Not spiders.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)23:01 No.17151039

Where did the spider advocates come from anyway, shingen's character concept was RYU.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)23:07 No.17151084
Look, I would be perfectly fine with that, if
would give some arguments except "Spider are scary - fuck spiders"
    1. Actually, all of our affair with Inari looks like a spiders briding time - we get her respect, we get delicious cake, we get our head bitten off, start all over again. And some spiders don't make nets, they just hunt the prey (as we are doing with Inari), which is actually several times bigger then they are (think about bird-eaters.)
    2. You can think of our charachter like this: He detects his enemy, using his net/locator/byakugan/common sense. He rushes to it( like a normal predator would), he uses his natural weapons to destroy hs enemy the fastest and easiest way. (like spider injecting venom into prey.) and actually, I believe we can make chakra threads.
    3. Agree with you on that buddy.
Even if nobody of us is right, I would like to keep our own fears and dislikings out of the game. I am not very fond of spiders either, but think that it is a good idea right now.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)23:08 No.17151091

    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)23:08 No.17151094

Originally, then the cunning and manipulative personality came out, and some things were adjusted.

I'd say he was a lot more of a chess -master at this point.

But yeah, spider thing is totally out of left field >>17150993

Technically the Chakra net technique mentioned here DOESN'T YET EXIST.

So the spider thing makes even LESS sense.

So, lets line out some things:
    1.We are a manipulative, chess-master style.
2.We use close and mid-range attacks
    3.We Count on our speed.
4.We count on our enemy detection.
    5.We prefer counter-attacking style.
6.We gather a group of strange allies.

    1. This is a rather extreme stretch. If anything, It would make more sense for Inari to be the spider in this metaphor given our interactions.

    2. The Chakra threads are doable, it's what made the detection web thing seem viable. You have some decent points as to the spider comparison here, but spiders are known primarily for setting up a turf, heavily modifying it to their advantage, and then making people fight them on their terms.

What in the hell part of our running everywhere, working with allies, constant long distance pilgrimages, and over-all personality suggest anything but the exact opposite of this?

It seems to me the more out of our element/depth we end up, the better we do.

    3. Well, we're in agreement, not really much to say. Glad we're coming to some consensus.

Originally, I was the guy >>17150641

here, who pointed out that spiders are in no way less creepy than snakes. If anything, they're much, much worse.

As for the personal fears thing... I personally, don't like spiders. I actually have borderline arachnophobia. So, fuck spiders.

On the other hand, I know that we need to be true to the character, and if those eight legged bastards WERE the best way to approach all this, I would endorse that course of action.

The fact that I hate spiders, and the fact that I don't want them to be our summon are two separate facts that actually have nothing to do with each-other.

    .... Hedgehogs?

    Super Intelligent Hedge-hogs?

Sorry, drawing a blank. We actually have an animal psychologist/biologist in the last quest, maybe he's still around.

Personally, I think we should set the summon issue aside for right now. now is not a good time to go on a potentially long distance/time quest for something.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)23:24 No.17151220
Eh, I'm still not into the whole summon thing-

In the time it takes us to summon something, we could already be up in our opponents face. If we summon something faster than us, I'm still willing to bet that Inari could riddle the thing with needles before it could do any sort of real damage.

If we get a summon it has to be something Inari can't disable or outright kill within the first three or four rounds of battle. Even then I'm still skeptical on the matter.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)23:26 No.17151243
Well, as long as you and me and everyone else keeps their dis-likings out of the game, I find you a good person - thank you for good work.
You are convincing, that our summon shouldn't be a spider, but you know, THUNDER CHAKRA CONTROLLING SPIDER would be just nice. Moreover, I think we SHOULD (not have to) attend to spiders, because why not to ask the best hunters, ambushers and trappers, how to sneak on a man with eyes on his back (thinking of Inari, who seems to see every our movement.) and make a trap.

    Very wise sentiment.

Also, to all of you where were saying so, Inari is about 99% the Spider in this world. She lurks in the shadows, waiting, pounces out, paralyzes the target, and then feeds.

Hey Guys, I have an idea:
According to the anime and manga - chakra is a combination of persons experience/memories and physical fitness, right?
I don't know how is it called, but sometime we got a technique, which allows us to steal chakra from people if we successfully hit them, right?
Basically, we are stealing their experience or/and memories, right?
Of course everything is not that easy, we still need to convert chakra back to memories.
Why don't we make such a UA, which can allow us to see somebodies memories, and probably learn their techniques, hm?
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)23:59 No.17151543
This means, if we hit person at least one time, we can probably get a useful piece of information like:
Why is this person fighting you? Maybe we can use our diplomacy to subdue them?
How did he prepare for this fight? Maybe he still has some aces and we better know about them.
    Maybe he got reinforcements ready?
    >> Anonymous 12/09/11(Fri)00:01 No.17151555

We might already have something like that, due to Chackra control.

Are you familiar, sir, with the term 'insane troll logic'?

Question: Do we need Speed Familiarty with our Eyes?

Second, I suggest putting a single point into Chakra Control if 5 points is enough to up a stat.

As for our UA, I would suggest we take that reflects our focus:
"Kissed by the Spider": Due to careful study and application, you can force chakra around areas paralyzed, burning 2 chakra for every turn used. Your over powered chakra network also expands your senses, allowing you to detect via any logical means - Scent, Audio, Tremor Sense.

    >> Anonymous 12/09/11(Fri)00:11 No.17151644

I'm assuming you're the memory steal guy.

The chakra comes from balance of body and mind, physical ability with mental discipline. It isn't literally made of thought and memory.

Saying slapping someone should give you their memory is like saying you once ate a bird, so now you have the power of flight.

It's so far beyond ludicrous that I'm actually having a hard time putting it into words.

The idea of stealing someone's Chackra does sound interesting, and could even be considered a sort of extension of the Hyuga clan's extreme chackra manipulating ability.

Ok so we didn't actually bother buying the genjutsu technique we stopped to train for or even Genjutsu release which is necessary to break out of any genjutsu effect during our training?

Speed is good guys but those two things are absolutely vital to our survival here. We've got two UA's here right? So how about we change null stance into a speedster stance? We shutdown our genjutsu and ninjutsu techs but in exchange gain speed rank +2 or something that scales with how much we pay. Maybe even keep the chakra regeneration in there but it gives us a bit of speed.

For the other UA Reactive Chakra was suggested before and I think that would be damn useful to counter our senbon woes. "if you fail a defensive roll against an attack roll your rank targeting chakra. If you achieve as many successes as your opponent's rank you may spend a point of chakra to repel a ninjutsu or taijutsu based attack.

    >> Anonymous 12/09/11(Fri)01:57 No.17152556

Free replenishing Chakra pool mid combat?
Potential to severely limit power of the opposition?
Logical next step for our potent Chakra sealing/manipulating abilities?
Potentially attacking a more powerful for by taking all his Chakra away and then hitting him in the face with it in a single massive jutsu we couldn't normally perform?
Sheer intimidation factor of the enemies realizing that their opponent is eating their very souls to power attacks used to destroy them?

I'm having a hard time thinking of a downside to this technique. Done properly, it's a game-changer.

And honestly? From what I've been reading from this quest, us having to fight Madara is a very real possibility. if he's even ten percent as powerful as in the main series, we're going to need to start preparing for that worst case scenario.

    >Also we can still talk about UA's. I've heard some good ones. Wrath of the White Eyes is on the right track, but needs some tweaking.

What needs to be tweaked to make it viable?

Personally, I think it should be a lower initial cost, with an on-going cost every round it keeps going.

If we go Blitz 3, as we seem to be wanting. We get 3 partial actions per turn. Additionally people without speed sight get -3 against us, and we move 3*Taijutsu distance.

Blitz 2 only makes us lose the extra partial action. Now, is it vital, in the collective's eyes, that we have those extras?

Like adding a Grit Tax, which is a reduction in the amount of Grit we gain, since it's so powerful. If we did that I would also suggest amping it a little. So...something like...

Wrath of the White Eyed: You enter a place where your training takes over, your prodigious mind supporting your muscles and your conscious takes a backseat. All foes take a -2 penalty to dodge or counter your attacks and you gain a +2 pool bonus for countering with Gentle Fist. Additionally you can use any Gentle Fist Jutsu immediately after a successful critical hit at no cost. Lastly, your enhanced chakra system maxes out your body's functions, increasing your Taijutsu by 3 for the duration of this UA. Costs 4 Grit to start, 1 Grit/Turn.

    >> Anonymous 12/09/11(Fri)02:32 No.17152865
I vote for something not totally out of nowhere like vampirim, or likely to literally kill us by further Blowing out our own chakra network.
So, I suggest this, Heavenly Cobra Stance:
Shingen almost completely suppresses his own chakra in order to gain greater focus and control. While in this state, he easily converts his body's chakra to the lightning element, and uses extremely focused burst of it through his body to essentially supercharge it, gaining absurd boosts of speed and power for short periods of time.He could also use this mode to send a weak jolt through his body, essentially shorting detrimental effects on him by doing so.

So Crunch wise Im thinking: Shingen's chakra pool becomes effectively zero on entering the stance, but he doesnt fall into chakra exhaustion.Since his max is 16, he gains 4 chakra at the beginning of his turn, and any left over empties at the start of the next turn before refilling again. In return, he get a speed rank of 1 higher then whatever his normal would be prior to entering the stance, and a +1 to attacks, dodges, and counterattacks, as well as giving a -1 to anyone trying to detect him. Once per turn he can spend a grit as a free action to remove a detrimental effect from himself.

We might want to add in some kind of lightning based modifier to our gentle fist attacks too.

Is the other UA or whatever?

Those some people are wrong then. It's outright stated at least three different times that since they see chakra flow, they're effectively immune because they see and understand how it works. In D&D terms (Since I don't know this system well yet) it basically gives them like a +20 to all related saving throws once they master it. Completely master it, I should say.

    >Also, bat summons/clones eating enemy chakra assumes that we can find them and act before they find us and attack.

Substitution jutsu, genjutsu lock, bat swarm, chakra share.

Summoned creatures capable of performing jutsus can share chakra with the contract holders, a link that goes both ways. Given the nature of the techniques involved, if anything the bond would be more potent.

Plus we could in theory make it so we can steal a little bit of power with every hit, while more advanced/bigger drain techniques would require more complex actions.

We're already back in, or very near to, the land of fire.

    -Find Mallard.
    -Suggest Temporary Alliance.
-find Inari/Widow (confirm if it's the same person)
-find way to get alone with Inari, preferably with us NOT in a massively compromised position.

You tell your comrades that it'll be just a moment. You head to the nearest town, write a letter to your Father and the Clan and send it on its way with a messenger. That done, you clap your hands together, feeling refreshed and renewed as Jako says, "The Mallard is here, in this town." He says, his nose fluttering, "And he seems excited about something." Sure enough as he finishes these words a plume of smoke rises from the ground as the Mallard steps forward and bows, "Ah! My fortunate friends, it's good to see you, and as I bring such pleasant tidings! The Black Widow is dead! The Uchiha Clan caught her, tortured her for her information, and executed her publicly. She's hanging on a post outside their camp walls for all to see! The job is done!" He said and took off his hat, "I can finally go home."

Turning your Byakugan on you see she's been dead for a little while, but her eyes are opened wide for all to see, red sharingan, long curled black hair, and a face that you couldn't forget. Inari hangs there, a ninjato through her stomach, pinning her to the post. Beneath her feet is a sign which reads,

"Such is the fate of those who betray the Uchiha."

    Well here's my attempt:

    "Respected Father,

Things are progressing well since I first began my mission. I have encountered stalwart companions to aid me on my travels and have assisted our Senju cousins when the opportunity presented itself. I am now on the trail of those I suspect will lead me closer to uncovering the culprit behind the attacks on our family. If it is simply another red herring so be it, but I will do my utmost to remove this threat to the fire country and society at large regardless of its involvement with that affair. I can not be assured that this letter will not be intercepted so aside from that I can say no more, less I give my quarry an edge I cannot afford.

My thoughts are often of home and I strive to do you proud. I feel that in a short while I will have achieved the goal I set for myself at the start of this quest. Once completed I shall return once more to aid both you and brother in whatever ways I can. Perhaps then we can look once more to future endeavors and greater horizons.

I got scolded for lacking resolve by that girl we met. If you should encounter her for whatever reason tell her I intend to make good on our agreement.

Heading back to town seems like a bad option, so you head the only place you know where you can go. The cave where you originally saw Jako's handiwork was well lit and you head into it, laying her body out on the table. You begin your autopsy at the neck and immediately notice something horrific. A second layer of skin, epidermal skin, rests under the main layer. Your hands tremble and you feel ill but as you pull at it you see, with disgust, the woman's face is not her own. Removing the outer face you see the woman beneath is a completely different woman. HER face is twisted in horrific agony.

The Sharingan are real, however, and as you feel around her skin only her face was treated like this. Her body was similar and the effects of whatever was done to her made her seem the right height. Someone did some real hack work.

This woman is not, in any way, Inari. Her sharingan aren't even the same, these are simple two tomoe. This woman, however, has the tattoo of a black widow spider on the small of her neck. An exceedingly clever dupe. One you would have missed were you not willing to perform the autopsy.

That'll be fine. They're in more than good enough shape for that.

You proceed to check the body's various effects, skin temp, hair, checking for anything odd. You are about to give up before taking out a kunai and scraping under the finger-nails. You see a layer of fine green residue, dried liquid you would guess, on her nails. Curiously you scrape the rest of her fingers and gather a reasonable sample. You lay the body in a safe place and reverse the explosive tags you place on the limbs and torso. Igniting them they burn the body, and the tags, to nothing but an unrecognizable pile of ash. Clean and efficient.

The eyes are kept safe in a glass jar in your medical kit, suspended in salt-water. As you leave the cave, your friends probably off celebrating with the Mallard, you feel something, someone.

Arms are around your waist as you hear a voice, very soft and pouty, whisper, "Awww...did little Shingen worry about his Inari darling?" The voice is instantly recognizable, and you feel the sensation of her hands, one on your pectoral and the other right over your liver, tracing little circles with her senbon. Her lips press against your neck as she whispers, "Because I missed you too. I didn't know you became my little doctor as well, such a smart man you are, Shingen." "You think I'm a hero? Whats your definition of hero then. Someone to save small children and unite the masses? Fights off big nasty evil creatures, and has a winning smile. Right now all I've got that is the latter."

    >We make for a really weird couple, in retrospect.
    >Flowers, poetry, certain carnal pursuits, seem to be better options. Especially since they don't involve murder.
    >And I wish you wouldn't kill people, or get people killed, for my sake. Flowers, a song, even just a picnic or a nice evening drinking would be preferable.

Is it wrong that I find the snark vaguely endearing?

Doubly so since she's the only person we've shown the bitter snarky side of our personality to?

It seems so honest an emotion and response, especially for someone for who deceit and double meanings are swiftly becoming the watchword.

Inari brings out the snark in us.
    >> Anonymous 12/09/11(Fri)06:05 No.17154466
Yep our guards are both up and down at the same time. The snark makes sense for them though.

I fucking love it too. Especially as he seems so resigned to it now.

    >Picnic, check.
    >Nice wine, check.
    >Sudden stabbing pain followed by total paralysis?
    >... huh noth-

"Hi honey, how was your day?"

The pyscho/snarky dick personalities play off each other surprisingly well.

What, like "You know, I wish you wouldn't turn to a life of crime and murder. It makes trying to schedule a night for a date oh so difficult. And that's not including the shinobi death squads or the roving vigilantes on the lookout for rogue shinobi."

"Yes, we do indeed make a lovely couple you and I." She says softly before nuzzling up to you and whispering, "Oh, and about Momoji. Don't worry about me, go ahead, date her, meet her, get to know her. You'll know who the right choice is later though, I promise. Please, Shingen, go have your fun! I don't want you to become a creepy weirdo when you get older because you never got the chance to explore." She says with a growl before gripping your thighs, "But remember, you're mine. And I'm yours. Been that way for three years now."
    >> Anonymous 12/09/11(Fri)06:09 No.17154502

God yes. I was so pissed when she dies almost entirely because of that.

But then it was retconned/a trick/she got better.
    >> Anonymous 12/09/11(Fri)06:12 No.17154524

"Well, 'Lovely' is an interesting way to put it" Quirked eyebrow.

"Please don't do this Inari. I don't know what you're planning, but it can't be good. There's other options."
    >> Anonymous 12/09/11(Fri)06:15 No.17154537

"At least promise me you won't do anything too crazy without telling me."
    >> Anonymous 12/09/11(Fri)06:17 No.17154551

"I think it'd be more fun if you were with me."
    >> Anonymous 12/09/11(Fri)06:17 No.17154554
    Combine these two.
    >> Anonymous 12/09/11(Fri)06:18 No.17154563
    "I'd never forget.
"But I'd much rather get to know you better, Inari."
    >> Anonymous 12/09/11(Fri)06:18 No.17154564

Upon re-reading that, that might be misinterpreted as suggesting a threesome.

If she takes it that way go "I didn't mean that. Swear to god. Although....."

I have a hard time telling if OP is a really slow typist, or if he's waiting for talk to die down before he continues.
    >> KumaSennin !!hAxKShXKS9j 12/09/11(Fri)06:24 No.17154606

OP is a very fast typist, actually, but we're in auto-sage and I don't want to add too much to the thread while I'm brewing the new one.
