11 KB TG Meta Quest planning thread part BLARGH Anonymous 01/07/12(Sat)15:48 No.17456343
Let's do this again, and clear up stuff.

No, we are not getting Giles or Zero.
    >> Anonymous 01/07/12(Sat)15:56 No.17456400
Does anyone thing one of the shoggoths sealed away might behave like one of the ELS (Gundam 00) instead of like an Angel?
    >> Anonymous 01/07/12(Sat)15:57 No.17456418
So now we have an Angel core and we might be able to get a crossover-ified Lance of Longinus.

I'm thinking if we keep the lance, we could mass produce lesser versions of it to kill SUEs and demons/Chaos with.

We could also plant the Angel core/S2 organ in the Heavy to make him even more powerful when ubercharged.
    >> Anonymous 01/07/12(Sat)16:55 No.17456853
So we wanted the three scientists from Schlock mercenary right?
    >> Anonymous 01/07/12(Sat)19:09 No.17458137
I haven't been following the planning thrads at all, but here are my two hero suggestions.

    1. Gene from Godhand. can go invincible for a short time, large veriaty of moves, fucks demon's shit up.

    2. A Gundam X piloted by some random no-name newtype pilot who can use G-Bits. See if we can't install some kind of Microwave Station on one of the ships so we can use the Satellite Cannon.
    >> Anonymous 01/07/12(Sat)19:18 No.17458226
    >>17456853
    Well, 2.
Gav, we want as a team of engineers.
Kevyn Andreysan we can secretly monkey around with the Gate controls in order to creat another Gate-copy of him that we can recruit.
Triniko specifically said he didn't want to do anything dangerous, and becoming one of our scientists may qualify.

    >>17458137
    1. a melee character with admittedly powerful hand-to-hand attacks, but doesn't really fit in with our operational methods.
    2. That's a Vehicle Requisition, not a Hero Requisition. And not really necessary as an R-Type would have comparable firepower, and higher-performing Gundams can be acquired or fabricated.

I'll give you two, which was mostly just thrown in there because I like the suit.

But seeing as we're eventually going to be up against Chaos Demons, I'd think someone like Gene would be useful. Especially since after the game both of his hands are now God Hands.

am I missing something? I've only just started reading the quest on sup/tg/ (at Rivendell, currently) when I saw this thread (first actual one I've seen, actually). Did OP come down specifically and say 'you can't have these guys'? And which Zero are you talking about? That's a stupid number of them in the Meta.

How does acquiring the Chaos Emeralds, S2 Engine, and Lance of Longinus from Antartica change our research plans?

I think making mass-produced infantry-scale and mech-scale lances is necessary for the endgame.

What if, we graft the S2 engine into the BLU Heavy?

Some suggestions were also made for requisitioning a magic-research person or persons.

One suggestion that seemed to interest people were the three sages/gurus from Chrono Trigger (Gaspar, Melchior, and Belthasar). In addition, each of them were highly-respected masters of their respective fields. In addition, they lived in the highly-developed magical kingdom of Zeal, which means that they no doubt have magical ability or otherwise use liberal amounts of magic in their fields. Together they seem to be capable of constructing crazy magitech devices (Belthasar alone constructed a time machine).

One problem that could occur with this requisition choice is that the Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross canon was pretty complicated without any external interference. However, another poster mentioned that, at the sages' most current point in time, they are likely to not be doing much of anything.

Magic Research. He dies in-Canon, so he would be up for a body-switch like we did with Pellaeon.
He has knowledge of various magic systems of Earth, and is an experienced researcher.

The Three Gurus would be a powerful research/engineering team if they were brought together, however they would have to be individually recruited resulting in 3 Hero Requisitions being needed to get them.

The Aurors should be decent at magical research - they're professors at Hogwarts, it's their job! Giles isn't bad, it's just that he's redundant.
As for Zero, he's not as strong as you'd think, and he's a bit of a ... wildcard.

His special effects budget is higher, we see using magic more and exploding an enemy mage with creative spell use.
The big thing we are want him for is magical research, he's shown a knack for studying and researching many diverse magical and demonic traditions to support efforts to deal with supernatural threats.
He is the epitome of 'heroic researcher' in his ability to find the right information and craft the right spells and charms. The comics show a bit more of his skill at rolling baddies with that knowledge, but that's more icing on the cake for want we need him for.
The various glimpses of his time as 'Ripper' in his youth and serving as magical vessels shows a lot of his potential as well, but as seen in other instances his sheer knowledge exceeds his personal ability, extending into in magics that aren't even cast-able by man.

His soul/elf is eventually made into the biometal.
And saying 'Zero dies' at _any_ point isn't set in stone, he's died repeatedly, the last Zero series game doesn't even outright say he dies, just suggested thet he wouldn't survive and shows a helmet in the end scroll, hardly his most definitive death. But as you your self noted, his soul may be in the biometal, so there is no way in hell we can take him.

On top of that, there are hints of him all the way into Legends, and the creator of Zero still wants to make Legends 3.

Zero may be worth considering if we need another slice-and-dice frontliner hero. But right now, we seem to be doing alright on that front. We even have one of our own "home-grown" heroes for that purpose, Darius. That KI with the Voiceless Spear may also become a hero once he gets dice rolls that don't bite him in the ass.

What we need to focus on right now are the areas that we are explicitly lacking any sort of hero or troop type for: engineering, magical research, etc. I'm not saying we should totally discount Zero, but until we need another swordsman (which we do not right now), we should cease discussing his viability until the time comes.

Maybe we should draw up a list of specific roles, both combat and non-combat, that we want heroes to fill.

    Lesee:
    Commander: Guess.
    Ground Commander: Starlord
    Magic/tech research: egon
    Magic researcher:
    Science Researcher:
Internal i.e. Shipboard security (you never know, we could get boarded):
Drill Instructor (got to train the troops when not in the field somehow):
Chief Engineer (probably also Scientific researcher):
    Diplomat?:

Anyone have ideas for who to fill these roles: are some of these unnecessary? any that should be added?

There was some interest expressed in the last thread in recruiting some P4 characters. If we pursue this, keep in mind that we don't know what's in their contracts, but they're likely to include at least the "see what they see" clause.
If the goal is just to get a persona-using hero unit, I think it's mentioned a couple times in P3 that Aigis isn't the only persona-using robot, just the last surviving model. Any of her sisters that we recruit could be switched off whenever we do anything security-critical, and they'd be a good starting point to reverse-engineer and retrofit personas on all our other robots.

Here's some other proposals for Engineer and Magical Researcher.

Engineer: Karl Sonntag (Or is that Carl Soontag?), from Mechwarrior 4: Vengeance.

While MW4 was pretty disappointing in terms of game mechanics, Karl seemed to be a very competent technician and engineer. With his team of technicians, he was able to repair 'mechs within a reasonable timeframe from various damaged states, refit and reprogram IS mechs to use clan weaponry in a snap, and scrounge and salvage enough components to repair 'mechs of all sizes and shapes (he was only supplied by whatever Ian Dresari's resistance force was able to plunder, which may be a mark in his favor as far as efficiency goes). After the events of MW4: Black Knight, he doesn't seem to be doing much of anything.

However, he seems to be rather judgmental for an engineer/technician. If we get to a point where we really do need to do evil or morally questionable stuff to enforce canon, he may refuse to work for us.

Magical Researcher: Psoron, from the Valkyrie Profile series (VP2).

While his role in VP2 is a combat sorcerer, his true profession is that of a magical researcher. His work on two very basic offensive and defensive spells were used as the foundation for entire schools of magic in the mortal world in his canon. In addition to being a minor character, his revival from Einherjar to a mortal being occurred waaay ahead of his first mortal life. Thus, it may be easy to recruit him and not mess with the canon much, as he was first introduced after he already made his mark on history.

There are potential downsides, though. First off, we cannot know if Psoron was actually encountered and revived in canon; all the Einherjar you recruit in VP2 are randomly generated. Secondly, while his work had a huge impact on his world's use of magic, this does not necessarily mean that he will be all that great in comparison to the other choices we have.

A SIR unit isn't actually risky for us. We have enough brainpower and resources to jailbreak them very easily.

The bonus part is that they're smaller than our probe droids, they're as strong as Spartan-IIs and have lots of built-in melee and ranged weapons, and are ready to accomodate cloaking and disguises.

Psychic species feel uneasy, even sick around it, though non-psychics do not seem to be affected in this manner.

    I've suggested prayer.
Outside of than, not sure what else we can do.
Mechs and fliers on standby on the surface.
Cheryl, Tosh, X-Com Psi-Vets, Psions, and Farseers taking on the World Pillar.
Our troops with First Age weapons and the Spear joining the on the inner ring, along with Douglas (if anyone else has a Persona, recommend them here as well though it looks like just the one pick).
Our magic users in the next ring out, to provide support to the inner ring and outer ring.
Outer ring is the rest of our units and turrets and guns set to keep outside trouble from coming in.
Position ships geo-stationary over the south pole. Deploy all the shuttlepods and the shuttlecraft to the site as well.
We got lucky and have the version of the Victory-II that is atmosphere capable, so we may consider sending that down as well, but to start I would say keep the Relentless and Oncoming Storm within each others overlapping reality fields in case Ebon tries to dick with them directly.

    >keep the Relentless and Oncoming Storm within each others overlapping reality fields in case Ebon tries to dick with them directly.
That's likely doomed to failure, considering that Ebon Night had no problems reaching through the Storm's capital ship-grade Reality Emitter and turning that one Farseer inside out.

The First Age weapons are a crapshoot against Ebon Night, unless we can force him to manifest physically.
The Lance of Longinus should be able to affect Ebon Night even if he is incorporeal, however, and Gondegal may be able to have some effect.

We should consider have the shard with Adam wheeled into the World Pillar chamber in order to increase the Pillar's power output if Cheryl is able to take control of it. The Elder Thing's found Adam in the chamber, so simply having it in the same room as the Pillar won't cause an Impact. It's only if it merges with the Pillar again that such a thing could happen. Or if somebody tries to touch Adam with the Lance of Longinus.

Actually, here's a crazy idea: The V-II has beefed up tractor beams, what say we send the Relentless down and try to tear the roof of the cavern..
Hm. Unless that would damage the World Pillar, in which case it is a terrible idea.
But if it isn't a terrible idea, we wouldn't be stuck with tunnel fighting.

Also, I've been going through the early part of the quest and don't see any mention one way or another on this: Is there any issues with the On Coming Storm entering the gravity well? It may or may not have landing struts, but whether a craft can land is different that whether or not it can function in an atmosphere. The Constitution-class, for example, could hover just fine in the Earth's atmosphere, but wasn't designed to set down.

The real fight will be the minds battling over the World Pillar, the rest are there to more or less as security in case he tries something physical against them.

You know, thinking about it, if we cast Reraise on them first, we might be able to risk bringing the Persona crew and Guts down as well.

Voting to give the Persona to Douglas. He doesn't have the combat skills that Spike has, and his ability to tank and keep damage from hitting our more vulnerable spellcasters/psions will be useful.

As for the fight itself, since we'll have Medic on-hand, I think we should prep for the fight by having the White Mages give everyone they can a cast of ReRaise, starting with themselves, Cheryl, the Farseers, then the X-COM psi-vets, then the Psions, then everybody else.
This list of priorities is based on who is most likely to get hit by Ebon Night's first attack.

Also I still think we should still have VP-99 ready to wheel Adam and the shard into the World Pillar chamber, for when Cheryl takes control of the Pillar and needs more power.

I had a though. Could we get Igor to give use the three persona users after the game wraps up, and just use one of them as their eyes? That way we get three persona users WITHOUT buggering the canon.

Of course, if we can get the persona kids post-game AND a persona for someone else, Cheryl might be a good nomination.

Seconding Douglas, he doesn't know anything sensitive, and it'll make him feel more useful, considering he'd be of limited help otherwise, and with the 'Completed Silent Hill' bonus, it'll be fairly strong.
As such, I recommend having Douglas and a member of the command crew take a nap, medically induced if needed, so that we can make contact in their dreams.
Considering that the regular Persona folk are linked to the source the same way, we can tell them that too to ensure the message gets across.

I'd also like to clarify that if we can't get the persona kids without buggering their canon, then we should still take the persona deal for one of our people.

I know some people are worried about this deal, especially Holtz's reaction, but there are two mitigating factors.

The trick, as we've learned in the last thread, it that the Persona user will end up mainly using the Persona, takes too much focus to do other complex tasks, like fight hard, fly a jet, cast spells, or eye laser.
Douglas ends up a good choice because, well, there isn't much he can really do for us otherwise. While Spike, Elaine, and Cheryl can all be doing their own thing still.

OK, that may be a good idea. And it made me realise something. Do we have a Chief Engineer? Deck chief? Somebody has to maintain all our ships.

Do we have a specific gameplan when dealing with Ebon Night? Personally, I think we should attempt to use temporal dickery to help kill off the fucker. bu that might lose use the sages once the paradox works itself out, and they would be damn useful to us. On the other hand, we lose all of our physics, Cheryl, and an entire world if we don't.

Talk about a rock and a hard place.
    >> Anonymous 01/09/12(Mon)08:53 No.17475372
    >>17475335
Ebon Night is dead. We just have to deal with the echos of him while we're still at Zeal. Also, this isn't a paradox, this is closer to stealing people from a picture. While they aren't the real people, they're time-clones, or echos of the real people which make them rather close.
We also don't know if our psychics are dead (unlikely considering Tosh and Char are alive) or if the planet is doomed. Cheryl could have sent the energy elsewhere, or even used it to attack Ebon Night saving the planet.

Main reason I think we should get a full set of these holograms is in case something happens on the ships again. They would have been useful with the skeletons, and they'd have been useful while we were fighting ebon night.

http://memory-beta.wikia.com/wiki/Emergency_Security_Hologram would also work. This mentions that a prototype ship, the Galen, from one of the books was outfitted with a full complement of Holographic crew, such as engineers and security. They started using these more often after the Voyager incident.

Well, we need to try and do whatever we can to save Cheryl and the others. We have the capability to timetravel, if not with Meta tech, but with the sages' help.

We don't know if Cheryl or our psychics are dead. All we know is that Tosh is currently in the Castle. Our Psychics could be in there with him, we don't know because the only one close enough to a Newtype for Char to sense is Tosh.

Before we worry about creating a time paradox, we need to see if they're actually dead.

We would need to refit all of our ships with internal holo-emitters everywhere.
It's doubtful that we can replicate mobile emitters because our replicator technology is probably from the late 2300's, probably Dominion War-era, and the Federation still couldn't replicate the technology of the emitter.

Damn, that fight with Ebon Night was a tough one.

    1. You people are thinking of the the Emergency Command Hologram from Voyager, right?

    2. Grace Note is a second-tier R-type ship. If we can't get it at first, we could try settling for the R-9C War-Head. Ideally we're trying to get the R-9S Strike Bombers and probably the R-90 Ragnarok.

    3. I think we need to consider mass-producing the Lance of Longinus just like in End of EVA. One for infantry scale, and another to be mech-sized (big enough for the Hyaku and the VFs to carry, probably sized around that it can be stored in the leg compartment of a VF in lie of a couple of micro-missiles.

    4. We really need to mass-produce the Medigun. It shouldn't be too hard and to teach the other troops to use it since the Medic made it himself I think? Also, we could also consider mounting Mediguns on drones as well.

    5. We still should get Char looked at by the X-COM Psi-techs when we get back.

    6. We should probably buy Bonk! Atomic Punch for the Scout so he can survive longer as bait. Probably get Short Circuit for the Engineer, and Righteous Bison/Cow Mangler for the Soldier I guess?

    7. We need to buy elixirs for our White Mages to keep them going in a fight.

It's small and compact, not as good as a mobile emitter, but if we attach it to a droid, then we can use it as a means of providing mobile fire support, as well as providing a droid with more manipulation options.

    >We can develop self-contained holoemitters with their own power supplies that we can send down alongside ground troops to create instant reinforcements and meatshields, as well as extra firepower.

    Slightly different.
PROXY can be used as infiltration, combat training, and combat support using his hologram modules.
This holo-emitter upgrade to VP-98 and VP-99 would allow them to create security holograms for defense and offense, interacting with people, manipulating devices, and creating active holographic camouflage.
Considering the size of a Viper probe droid, it should be a simple matter to attach a gun case where phaser rifles could be stored for the holograms to use.
Also, considering that these emitters are self-contained and won't draw on the droid's own power supply, they can be programmed with an Emergency Engineering Hologram to aid in self-repair if the droid is damaged, or letting 98 and 99 assist in engineering tasks.
This expands the possible roles of VP-98 and VP-99 from just being recon droids and an extra blaster during a fight, to additional medical personnel (with an EMH program loaded into the emitters), engineers (with engineer holograms), and their own small tactical squad (with security holograms and the phaser rifles they carry).

    I don't see why not.
A Viper is 1.6 meters tall, plenty of space on the outside to weld a gun compartment to hold them.
I assume we want to heavily customize VP-98 and VP-99 because they've gotten to Hero, regardless of whether we implement the holo-emitters or not.

We would need to buy a more powerful repulsorlift unit to handle the extra weight, but we wanted one anyway to increase the VP's speed and operational altitude.
There is, of course, a limit to the amount of stuff we can attach to their chassis if we still want to use them in a recon role.

As a BT initiate, I'd like to point out that the two Mad Cats we have remaining are modular omnimechs. In universe, this means it can be rapidly reconfigured by swapping weapons and sensor packages.

While we could requisition more bits from the BT universe (hello, LBX mech shotguns), a stronger possibility would be to RP it to mean tech from other canons can be easily adapted to work on them.

There are also omni vehicles, but the ones I found all looked quite different from modern MBTs.

Unless you wiped the whole team before Cheryl could power up the pillar, in which case you'd have gotten Pelleaon's scenario.

Mediguns require small amounts of Austrailium to build. You might be able to construct/lay hands on a few, but they'll always be rare.
    >> Anonymous 01/09/12(Mon)14:28 No.17477401
So no ideas on mind backup ideas?
    Here's a few options:

    1. Modified Soulcatcher technology from the Antaeus. We already have the Soulchips, modify them to upload into a reconstructed body. If the new Soulcatch from when a person was killed on a mission turns out to be corrupt, we can use their backup copy from when they last died. This would result in XP loss and possible psychological problems. Soulcatcher technology seems to be destructive when downloading a person's mind onto a chip, meaning that it can only be invoked when a person is about to die.
    2. EVE Online transneural burning scanner and clone bodies. Essentially the same thing as Soulchips, and the neural scanning process destroys the brain so that it can only be done at time of death.
    http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Cloning
    3. Eclipse Phase cortical stack implants for everyone. Perhaps a little expensive, but by keeping a backup of everyone before they go on a mission, and retrieving their cortical stacks if they die, we can reconstruct their brains and re-upload their minds.
    http://www.firewall-darkcast.com/content/cortical-stack

Now, regardless of which one of these choices is chosen, we will need to do research in order to modify the Schlockverse reconstruction tanks to be able to handle them. We will also need Dr. Lazarus' Magic Cryokit as a base to start the research, since it contains the necessary advanced technology; we have commercially available reconstruction tanks only, so they are unlikely to have the needed level of sophistication without upgrades.

Well, it was between him and the EMH from the Magic Cryokit. If we have to choose, it has to be Cryo-EMH, he's got all the data and is easier to recover.

And don't forget to add Kevyn to the list, we had finally found a point we could extract him from. The original was killed at the gate-cloning facility 'Target Echo'.
We could get him, Triniko, and a chance of recovering the original Gav in one shot.

    >Counselor/Psychiatrist heroes

A hero we might want to consider for morale/counselor hero: Fall-From-Grace, from Planescape: Torment. While she's not a qualified psychologist or psychiatrist, she did basically run a intellect-brothel, took several planar beings under her wing(s), and helped them to grow into intelligent and independent people. She's also personally dealt with getting over horrific things (i.e. spending many demon-years in the Abyss and then many more demon-years being enslaved by the Baatezu), and seems to know a lot about overcoming torment or great pain in order to fundamentally change one's nature for the better. Additionally, she has a patient yet assertive mannerism, and seems to genuinely care for those who seek her help. She was also capable of offering sage advice to a high-wisdom-scored TNO, and could think in ways that said TNO could not. And if she can't get through to a person through lateral thinking and counseling, she can resort to casting the DnD 2e spell "Heal", which is described as being able to heal one's mental state as well. She's also a level 10-15ish DnD 2e cleric, which gives her some other utility as well.

The downsides? She's a succubus. While she has genuinely changed herself to be a caring and tranquil person, her demonic nature may not sit well with everyone. She doesn't exactly actively reach out to people to help, either; they need to come to her out of their own volition.

Preferably have the entire Command Crew be familiarized with using it, as it makes a decent sidearm against normal things, and looks like just a normal pistol most of the time, so it's easy to pass off in most canons.

    >Origin Bullets, containing part of Kiritsugu's soul, actualize his Origin of "Severing and Binding" upon contact with the target, which can cripple living creatures that are fired upon. There are no wounds or bleeding, but the area or body part where the target is hit appears to be suffering from necrosis. While it seems to have healed properly on the surface, the nerves and capillaries will never regenerate properly and the original function will be forever lost. While it would be bad for a living being to be hit by it, as a Conceptual Weapon, this bullet poses an even graver threat to magi in particular. Out of the sixty-six Bullets, thirty-seven bullets have been used, and not a single one was wasted after completely destroying thirty-seven magi. During the Grail War, he has access to twelve bullets, and Keyneth becomes the victim of the thirty-eighth bullet. The only person to render it ineffective is Kotomine due to the fact that he doesn't fight like an orthodox magus.

    Douglas:
"I already lost my son" - When his friends are under threat, or in a state of fear and panic, the combat strength of Douglas and his Persona increase proportional to the level of threat and/or fear.
"Old Detective" - Douglas has been a detective and then a PI for a long time, he's good at picking up on clues, and plying people for information.

    Cheryl:
"Your Power is MINE" - Besides dark humor potential, she is adept at using the reality manipulating powers of others for her own purposes, while somehow not being tainted by them.

    Suggested skills:

    Spike:
    >How did you hit that? -When fighting a target that is unable to be injured by normal attacks, Spike has the miraculous ability to injure the target by bypassing all protections.

    >"What, you don't believe me?" - Spike is exceptionally good at bullshitting people. He could bullshit his way into the Pentagon and get it closed down for a day, if need be.

    Tosh:
    >Voodoo - When Tosh has a piece of a target, he can create a voodoo doll of it and cause damage to the target via the doll.

    >"Tutor" - All entities with a mind have some degree of Psionic potential. Tosh can help people to find and express this potential.

    >"Da spirits say" - Tosh can telepathically talk and listen to a wider variety of things. Gods, shoggoths, the spirits of a place, the spirits of an item, perhaps even Magic itself if the setting allows it.

    Egon:
    >Tinkerer - Egon has the ability to create and alter tech on the field to work, regardless of the tools and materials needed.

    >"It's easy to explain" - Egon can introduce scientists to the basics of Paranormal or Magical study, and magicians to the basics of the Scientific method.

We need something to suggest an expansion to those skills.

    Ok..
"Tell Him About the Twinkie" - Already well versed in the sciences and paranormal, Egon quickly picks up on varying versions of both from various Canons, both integrating new knowledge into his work and able to explain it in concepts that his fellows can understand.

    VP-99:

"The Path Less Traveled" - VP-99 is particularly adept at finding hidden passages and unused paths, or otherwise finding ways around that have the least amount of traffic.

"Miraculous Survivor" - Whether it is luck, fate, or particularly good damage-avoidance protocols, this unit can (and has) survived where many other units have fallen, often unscathed.

    Spike:
    >How many pints of blood do you have? - Constant trauma has made him impossible to kill. Instead of dying, Spike is instead unconscious until medical help arrives to heal him.

    Tosh:
    >I've got an idea, mon - Tosh is able to exert his psychic power to change the thoughts a person is currently thinking. He can use this to change people's minds, erase his presence, or even teach.

    Egon:
    >A gentleman and a scholar - Due to Egon's massive intellect, he has realized some of the rules behind the metaverse. He can make the technology of different canons fuse in oddly effective ways.

    Cheryl:
    >Silent Survivor - Her constant struggles with Silent Hill and her psychic powers have left her with an amazing intuition. Due to this, she often knows the direction attacks are coming from before they occur and is able to use her powers to prevent her friends from dying.

    Elaine:
    >Don't die on me damn it! - Due to seeing many of her friends die before her eyes, she has gained the ability to bring people back to the brink life (1 hp) by sacrificing her own health.
    >I HATE THE DARK! - Because of her fights with the undead and Ebon Night, Elaine has learned how to cast a Holy that seems to consecrate the area, causing constant damage to all evil and undead creatures within its borders.

    VP-99: "Ninety-nine"
    >Treasure Hunter - This droid has miraculous luck when searching for equipment and treasure. When he is around, all treasure hunting goes far better than it would have otherwise.
    >Well, what's over here? - VP-99 has the ability to notice paths and routes that are rarely used, giving it the ability to infiltrate many places without notice.

    >"Make it in Time" - This determination combined with her Time Mage training grant Elaine the effects of Haste in combat.

I'd like to rephrase this one:
"How many pints of blood do you have?" - Constant trauma has proven him to be practically impossible to kill. Wounds that should outright kill a greater man all over the room, leave Spike merely weakened and bleeding, out of the fight but alive. He remains stable after even the most horrific wounds and can recover with proper medical treatment, generally passing out sometime after most people would be passing on.

Cheryl is now a snowball of Mary Sue powers.
    >> Anonymous 01/10/12(Tue)05:19 No.17487562
    My current favorites.

VP-99 - "One bot's trash" and "Treasure Hunter"
Spike - "How many pints?" and "Wheel of Fortune"
Elaine - "It counts as healing, right?" and "Aura of Light"
Douglas - "Grinding Social Links" and "I already lost my son"
Cheryl - "A light in the darkness" and "Silent Survivor"
    Egon - "Twinkie" and "Scholar"
Tosh - "Idea" and "Da Spirits say"

"Your Power is MINE" seems very overpowered. I don't think it'd be allowed, but it'd be very strong and a good choice.
    >> Anonymous 01/10/12(Tue)05:25 No.17487619
    I also like these ones:
    >"Grinding social links" - Douglas is exceptionally good at making friends, by sympathising with people's plights and struggles.
Making your persona-user the party diplomat is a good way to make 1 skill work for 2 things.
    >"I already lost my son" - When his friends are under threat, or in a state of fear and panic, the combat strength of Douglas and his Persona increase proportional to the level of threat and/or fear
Hard to choose between this and old detective, but if there's a situation where the command crew is pissing itself in fear, we'll be glad we took this.

    >"Remembrance of the Fallen" - Stricken by the loss of friends, Elaine's magics can reach farther than most to recover allies from the clutches of Death.
    Extra res is extra good.
    >"It counts as healing, right?" - Elaine can heal sanity loss, can heal damage dealt to machines, can patch holes in physical structures, and even heal some reality distortions, much in the same way that she heals flesh.
Because combined with the first, we can resurrect mechs.

    >One bot's trash - When a mechanical units die around VP-99, it can loot their experience, memory, and parts, then integrate said parts into itself
It's Jack from Katamari Damacy in bot form
    >Treasure Hunter - This droid has miraculous luck when searching for equipment and treasure. When he is around, all treasure hunting goes far better than it would have otherwise.

    >Agrias Oaks
We're quite stacked for Melee fighters at the moment.
    >Mustadio
A Gunman. A very good gunman, true, but a gunman - of which we have plenty.
    >PROXY
Drone hero! Also training droid for training.
    >Nikola Tesla
Brilliant, but insane. I mean, it's Nikola Tesla.

We could use a Party face / Diplomat.
We could use someone who oversees Manufacturing of our tech crap.
And, at this rate, we could also use someone who communes with the Dead. Either to pass on the XP of our fallen brothers, or to talk to canon natives who died while carrying information.

One of The Nameless One's incarnations is the complete and utter king of Party Face, and also serves as being able to commune with the dead.
For a Manufacturer, I'll try to think of someone who's not an inventor (we already have those), but rather someone who makes existing tech faster, cheaper, and easier to produce. Not sure who that would be.

Giles is Redundant. I removed him from my list.
    Dr. Todd is very Important.
Sanctum guy was to keep the guy screaming "The Mentor" from bitching.
Agrias can multiclass as a white mage, plus has special elemental attacks. Also cheap due to Elaine and Lyla.
Mustadio is a genius with ancient tech from FFT. Would probably be cheap with Agrias.
PROXY, well you know why he's useful.
Nikolai Tesla isn't insane in that Canon. He's still got the brilliant though. He created a fully sentient AI in the 1930s in his universe.

Also, we can't get The Nameless One or any of his incarnations. He's either too important to canon, or too powerful.
