Sorry about that, it looked like shit.
    Previous threads:http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=Black+knight+quest

    >"A mysterious stranger once sold me a magical set of armor. His price was my own flesh and blood. I graciously accepted, for I would sacrifice anything for king and country."

    >"I still remember my own horrid screams as I donned the armor, blood pooling at my feet as my flesh was consumed, and my soul bound."

You are Sir Hadrian Blackhand, all that remains of a shattered kingdom and her people. Your soul bound to a living suit of armor, and entombed in the fallen capital of your kingdom. Recently however, you have regained your freedom, and set out for find the cause of the apparent cataclysm that rocked the world while you were imprisoned.

You traveled east, only to find a blasted landscape seared by a massive fire elemental, and the sick cult that worshiped him. Bringing the very fury of winter itself to the island, you dealt with this false God and his prophet, saving what was left of a family and fleeing the burning hell that soon crashed down to the earth.

After some very awkward interaction with your new charge, a young Cinderfolk named Drei, you and Vengeance decide that it would be best to find a more permanent residance for her. Following the coast you come across the cit of Grandal, ruled by a King Kaden, after some breif racism, you are permetted into the city.

    CURRENT STATS:

    Living armor (Your body)
    >Regenerative
You can heal minor damage such as gashes and holes punched through
    >Arcane hearing
You can hear significantly better than your average mortal, but even that has its limits for the moment
    >Arcane sight
You can see things that are normally left unseen. (Magic, spirits, ect.) Has its limits.
    >Consume
You can consume things to gain power. The only thing you have tried it on was a normal steel sword.
    >Creation
You gave birth to a horse fueled by the souls of the damned. You might be able to do similar things.
    >Conversion
Your Glaive is now covered in the same substance as the armor, increasing its power tenfold (Can cut through rock, its as unbreakable as your armor. The blade glows a ghostly white)
    >Flames of manipulation
Surrounds your body in flames that you can control completely, even the temperature. You mainly use them for defense at the moment, but you can do anything with them. When inactive, it appears there is a cloud of shadow around us. Mercy also gets this to a lesser extent, it surrounds his legs protecting them. (But a flaming hoof the the face will probably hurt a fuck of a lot more than a normal one.)

    Your Cloak (Crimson)
    >Has hammer space storage. (Enough for half a shark)
Currently contains a lockbox of treasure

    Mercy(Your Horse)
    >A horse you gave birth to, who has the soul of a young boy we killed a short while after the entombment. Fueled by the souls of the damned who inhabited the ruined city.
    >Can use the flames to a lesser extent
Uses them to walk on water, and shield his legs from harm.
    >No other upgrades

Glaive (Your weapon, no name currently)
    >Converted into the same material as your body.
    >Blade has a ghostly white glow and can cut through stone
    >Same regenerative properties as your armor.
    >Can imbue it with the fire that surrounds you

    Vengeance (Your Metal snake)
    >Born from the tortured soul of a creature you found in the tower, it begged you for a chance at revenge, to strike down the ones responsible for its plight.
    >Can extend very long
    >Very quick (Spring at the old mage quicker than you could even catch)

    Drei (A young girl)
    >You saved her and are looking for a place to keep her safe
    >Vengeance's sister.
    --------
Passing under the archway clearly not built for your size, you are greeted with a rather spectacular sight upon exiting.

Numberous multicolored tourches are staked into the ground lining the stone path you tred upon, forming a brillent path of light, branching off in different directions to rather large bonefires burning different hues of vermillion, purple and orange. With a collective "WHOAH" from Vengeance and Drei, Mercy confides to you that these youngsters would be rendered speechless if they had seen the capital on the Eve of fallen ice.

After a great deal of diffucltly moving through the tightly packed crowd, many of which just gawked at the sight of the armored behemoth, you had finally found someone to give you directions to an empty inn. The difficulties with having a girl interact with members of the opposite sex are quite obvious, however you were shocked with the amounts of hoots and whistling Drei had gotten. Perhaps she is a young woman, not a girl? You had judged her by how small she was compared to you, but it seems that the is an average height to these people. Its kind of embarrassing you have been calling her "Little girl" all this time.

Finally, after much maneuvering you are settled in an inn room you take up the majority off, You had to leave Mercy a considerable distance away when you moved off the main road, the horse was too big.

    >What shall you do?

You inform Drei that you want her to go out into the city and find out whatever she can about the city and if there are any other Cinderfolk residing here. But not alone, you plan to send Vengeance with her.

Before you give her the now shrunken snake, something in your mind makes you pause. You ask the snake how old they both are exactly.

    >"I AM THE YOUNGER BY AT LEASSSSSST FIFTY YEARSSSSSS MASSSSSSSSSSSSSTER"

Oh. Well thats helpful to know.

Sending the eager Drei and snake out, you try and maneuver yourself into the tavern, filled drunken chatter, what a good place to gather information.

As you sit in a "Corner", you draw quite a few stares, but people mostly keep to themselves.

Getting the bartenders attention was more work than you hoped for, and you finally had to resort to slamming your fist on the table far harder than appropriate, drawing silence to a greater part of the room, and with a few angry gestures at the barkeep, you have a large ale placed in front of you, much to the amusement of the rest of the room.

And with that you listen. You hear stories of loves lost and found, of families new and old, of wars fresh and old. But one sticks out more than the others, and you get so engrossed in it you lift the cup to your face and try and take a drink. It doesn't work well.

It was about some strange murders that happened recently, seeming dehydrated corpses mummified as if all water had been pulled from them.

Placing the mug down, you focused intently on the conversation. "....was just over there past the old warehouse they found him, looked like he had been dead for YEARS, looked like an old man he did, but the boy was only reported missing a few days ago." The rather drunk man was surrounded by people, he wore a uniform, perhaps a figure of authority?

Taking a drink he continued "So we managed to track him right back to where he was killed. Right out in broad daylight no less! Some old bat came out screaming at us that some dark figured was chanting some strange words to the boy, and he just collapsed into a pile. Says he shot her a look in a bad way, and took the body away. We had to take the poor dear down to the station for protection. Bad news I say."

With that the man turned his attention back to his drink, and the crowed broke off. Smells like magic afoot.

    >What do you do?
    >> Anonymous 01/09/12(Mon)20:12 No.17481802
Hmm. Well we can hardly ask around ourselves, and wandering the streets seems pointless.

the locals will probably learn of us sooner or later, learning that we have been trying to sneak around their city will do more to alarm them than the spooky voice.

Using a quick burst of heat followed by a faint cloud of vapor, you figure the best course of action is to just ask the man the details. Rising to your feet, you gingerly maneuver your way over to the seated man, until you are looming over him.

    >"A WORD, IF YOU WOULD PLEASE."

Dead silence follows the booming grated voice. The man seems to drunk to notice anything and turns to you, sloshing even more ale over you. "Yeah what d'you want jumbo?" The mans lack of intimidation, even while drunk bothers you.

    >"TELL ME ABOUT THE MURDERS."

People slowly start going back to their own conversations, trying to ignore the grinding voice that called out. Looking up at you trying to focus, he suddenly laughs "pffha look at you, your drunker than half the people 'ear, your face is all red." Tugging your hood farther down your head, you wished you could have done something about the glow. You are about to speak again, when he goes on telling his story, about how he had found a new lead in the case regarding the murders and he was given a recommendation because of it. He was here to celebrate but every one else was too busy with the "fucking murder crap" to come drink with him.

Taking another long swig, he continued, telling much of what you had overheard with some new information. "So thats when we figured that old missus was talking about one of them "followers of the water" types going around, new church them is, growing strong against us followers of the fire god." Taking yet another drink, he continued "They have a church down in the old underground, lots of water down there, they have this weird magic that lets them drink from anything. Whatever that means."

With that the man collapsed and started snoring loudly.

Placing a silver coin next to the man, you return to your room. Thinking back on what he said about the "Water God" and "Fire God", you are certain these two cases are very similar, yet there seems to be no elemental summoned here. A quick scan of the area concludes the local leylines are where they should be, as far as you can tell. You also wonder what is going to happen if the "Fire God" that you recently saw put down was the same God these people worship. Luckily only you and Drei know of what transpired there.

Lost in your thoughts, you almost don't notice a flustered Drei come back into the room. "That was my first time ever going through a tavern..." She trails off "I don't really want to do that any time soon, those men are....are beast when they get the drink in them!"

Vengeance slithers off her arm and coils back up around you and reports her findings.

    >"THERE SSSSSSEEEMSSSS TO BE MUCH FEAR HERE MASSSTER. THE PEOPLE DONT SSSHOW IT, BUT I OVER HEARD SSSOME GUARDSSS SSSAYING THAT THISSS FESSSTIVAL WASS HELD EARLY THISSS YEAR"

Vengeance confirms that the "Fire God" is that same as the elemental, and that pilgrims were somewhat frequent to the tower. Before he can continue, Drei interrupts "Sir Hadrian, I got this for you....A man in a cart was handing them out to people that pass by..." She holds out a piece of rolled up fabric.

You unroll it, to find a map of the area.

Glancing over the map, you record every inch of it into your mind, even the alleyways that are impossible for normal eyes to see clearly are recorded into your mind. Placing the map into your cloak, you think of where you want to go, and an intangible line almost appears. You know exactly where it is and how to get to there.

    >Arcane vision has leveled up! You can now find your way anywhere if you have looked at a map prior.

Drei was already half way into bed when you moved to the door, and went to ask where you were going when you paused her with a quick gesture, telling her to stay put with another. She seemed to have grown used to your silence even though you had been together a short while. Turning and starting to walk down the hall, before the door closed you heard a "Be careful."

Exiting the inn, you notice the streets have cleared considerably, however Mercy will not be useful where you are going. Circling the block several times, to insure you aren't followed, you are pleased to find nothing beyond the passing stare, you set out towards your destination.

Continuing towards the entrance to the station, you keep a keen eye out for any vendors that still might be opened. Sadly there are hardly any open at time, save for the few decadent vendors that have taken there place, selling both pleasures of the flesh and and assortment of narcotics.

You also keep on the lookout for any black robed fellows skulking around, remembering that the murders took place in broad daylight. They may very well be inactive during the night, which is strange in itself. Why would you kill someone in the middle of the day?

Rounding a corner, you see that you have reached your destination, it is surrounded by walls, which are not actually that much bigger than you on closer inspection, and there are two watch towers. On over the gate, and one in the back of the compound.

Using your mastery of thermodynamics, you flood the area with cold, then suddenly heat it up, causing a thick fog to envelope the area. Then switching to your black flames, quietly creep up to the gate. The guards are too busy shouting at each other to notice any noise you might be making. Reaching the gate, you notice its locked, and are about to try picking the lock without any training whatsoever, when it creeks open and a short fat man with a loud voice comes out yelling at the "BLUNDERING IDIOTS, LIGHT THE FUCKING LANTERNS."

You slip through unnoticed, just as a lantern is stoked to life, you hear one of the guards crack a joke "Y'know Sarge, for such a small man you have a HUUUGE shadow." The laughter is soon consumed by cries of pain.

You are in. There are a few guards patrolling the compound, all of which are carrying lanterns now, however your fog is still quite thick. You see the main building to the center, and an entrance, and a barracks with sables to the left. A training ground is to the right.

You are about to do something you never thought you would EVER do. Stepping into your cloak, you pull it up as far as it will go, requiring you to bend your knees. You are now a torso climbing up the side of a building.

After a moment of climbing, you reach the height you think should be enough for swinging over two window sets to the open window down below. With a slight grate of metal against metal, you are airborne for a second, before grabbing onto the ledge just above the open window. Shaking your legs out of the other dimension, you find you can almost reach it with your feet, and is just a matter of letting go and you are at you entrance.

Peering into the dark room, your vision reveals that it is empty, opening the window to its full extent and after much maneuvering you step into the room. Its walls are lined with books.

Taking your time, you brush a hand past each shelf taking each book with you as you do, consuming them, feeding your mind. Surprisingly, it comes to you, slowly at first, but like a torrent of words, letters and numbers you find yourself able to casually shift though the tomes, bringing up individual pages and paragraphs.

Most of the books were just that, books. A few gallant tales of knights slaying dragons and rescuing the damsel, of mighty heroes rising to defeat the evil tyrant and bring peace to the realm. Others were slightly more disturbing, speaking of a malignant forces coming to the world, dethroning the Gods of men and throwing the world into chaos, of great unspeakable evil tearing the world asunder with the very force of nature itself, and of the lost Continent of Alshoder.

You drew that last one up and read. Read about how they confronted the messenger of the Gods and how they were thrown into oblivion for displeasing the Gods that be, their heretical progress rivaling that of the Gods, seeking to take their seat for themselves.

A burning fury rose up in you. So thats what your kingdom, your people have been reduced to during your incarceration? A mythical lost heretical city? Is this what your peoples suffering and triumphs have amounted to? Your people created the first stable triumvirate government the world had ever seen, headed by the fierce Elvish king An'or, to his right hand your own king and to the left the Dwarven chancellor. YOUR PEOPLE MASTERED THE ELEMENTS AND BENT THEM TO THEIR WILL AND ALL THAT IS LEFT IS SOME CHILDRENS STORY? AND THE MAGE THAT ENTOMBED THEM AND SUNDERED THE LAND IS BOTH REVERED AS GODS MESSENGER AND FEARED AS A BEING OF UNSPEAKABLE EVIL?!

Blistering hot crimson Flames explode out of you, the rage, sorrow and despair of an entire people fills your entire being. You are all that remains of their hopes, dreams and memories. Will you be able to support that weight, or crack under the pressure? Only time will tell.
