We have finally murdered our way through back-to-back civil wars, and gotten back to the interspecies slaughter. Unfortunately, it hasn't started off very well. We attempted to bail the Protoss out of an ill-conceived attack on Olethros, one of Dyles' worlds. While we did cover the Protoss' retreat, the Protoss got a thrashing before we could get to them. And then we took hefty losses due to a compilation of unfortunate circumstances.

However, Warbrate thinks that if we turn our luck around a bit, we might be able to turn the tide of the battle and retake Olethros. Gorn agrees, but we don't know if that's a tactical stance, or just its normal thirst for blood.

We need to make a decision quick, though. Dyles isn't waiting.

(Scheduling: New job still unpredictable. Looks like Sunday the 5th and Thursday the 9th are the only nights I'll be free to play next week. Opinions?)
    >> Big Fat Zergling 02/01/12(Wed)21:03 No.17767729

If we have any unoccupied forces nearby, we should use them in a flanking attack. Have our present forces start drawing Dyles away from the planet, then catch his units between both of our fleets.

Thursday works better for me, but I'll probably be able to make Sunday.

Warbrate and Gorn execute a spontaneous and near-perfect shift in fleet posture, almost instantaneously pulling our ships into a less vulnerable formation. For a lesser species, this would be a display of organization that would impress military leaders. For us? It's just a good day.

Plowing through a weak spot in Dyles' lines, we pull our contingent in the system away, as if to flee. Dyles pursues, as planned. Also as planned, our second fleet jumps into the battle perpendicular to the line of retreat, spraying Dyles' ships with glave wurms. It's not as effective as we had hoped, but it damages or destroys enough enemy craft to force a retreat.

We've achieved victory in the air, but the planet below still teems with foreign life. How should we deal with it?

They can strip a planet as long as it's still there, so yes. The problem with stripping a world after substantial nuclear bombardment is the radiation. Glassing does not have this problem.

Let's glass it. There's no telling if Dyles has managed to make any underground lairs.

Also, remember that what eventually became the Dyles entity came from Zerg corpses that were sealed underground for a loooong time after being infected with the parasite. We could still potentially face a ton of resistance on the world even after we glass the surface.

"With the way things are, Moria is not enough to keep you safe, and frankly, we like you all too much to let you die. So we have decieded to allow you to colonize some of our worlds in joint colonies, to preserve your future. Now the thing is, some of these colonies will not be safe, there are diseases, dangerous beasts, and though we will do our best to protect you, we may not always have the ability, or the time. Thus anyone who would like to go to these colonies, or just plain wants to be a little bit better, we have Gene therapy ready to go, to make your odds of survival better, to increase your strength as a people, and a number of other benefits.

This is all voluntary, so if you don't want to go, or dont want the therapy, you don't have to. >66, 67

Ok. I can live with that.

The response to the modification clinic is strong. While the message of genetic viability honestly went over a lot of people's heads, the possibility of tailor-making their children for attractiveness, strength, and alcohol tolerance is very popular. A startling number of patients ask whether we can make them regrow teeth. It's...an eye-opener, to say the least. Still, we do what we can, and if this continues, the Terrans will likely not have any trouble with their population bottlenecking in the near future.

The infestation clinic deals with substantially fewer patrons. They are mostly depressed or shell-shocked, deciding that they no longer have a reason to live (we provide counseling before letting any of these people begin infestation), though there are a relatively large number of Terrans who seem to believe that they can override our consciousness and gain control of the Swarm. We don't counsel those. They're freaking delicious.

All in all, as much of a success as we could have hoped for!

Kerrigan requests the use of a heighliner and a few dozen Infested Terrans in order to begin infiltrating the UED.
    >> TUCAMP 02/02/12(Thu)00:15 No.17770419
Properly scout the Dyles world, and destroy them in order of increasing difficulty. And loan kerri a heighliner.
    >> Anonymous 02/02/12(Thu)00:16 No.17770438
Oh our dear sneaky sister. Yeah, but try not to get caught, we reeeally can't afford a two-front war with Dyles.
    >> LordHighlander !tHPBvczhcc 02/02/12(Thu)00:17 No.17770453
allow it as long as she understands what she does has to be covert, if she gets caught then she royally screws us, and we need some kind of collateral until we get our ship back.
    >> Big Fat Zergling 02/02/12(Thu)00:20 No.17770497

Second, with an addendum. As soon as Dyles thinks we're only hitting one world at a time and pulls his forces together into one fleet, we split our fleet and hit a bunch of lightly defended worlds at once.
    >> Cerebrate Anon 02/02/12(Thu)00:24 No.17770549
Kerrigan thanks us for the heighliner, though we can tell she really doesn't like having to ask at all. Still, she's coming along. We think.

(How much longer do you guys want to go? I've got time, but it's less fun when you all go to bed)
    >> Big Fat Zergling 02/02/12(Thu)00:27 No.17770592

Tell Kerrigan to keep us informed of her progress and we'll do the same.

I'm off for the next two days, so I'm good till whenever.
    >> TUCAMP 02/02/12(Thu)00:30 No.17770631
I think we should attack a planet before we end.
    >> Anonymous 02/02/12(Thu)00:37 No.17770698
Right now I think you've got 2 namefags, a tripfag, and me.
Might want to wait until Strike Witches Quest implodes for the evening and all the /a/ faggots go back home.
    >> Cerebrate Anon 02/02/12(Thu)00:37 No.17770701
(Alright. One more planet, then we're done. We sound like genocide addicts. Maybe we should have an intervention)

What sort of target are we looking for, roughly?
    >> Anonymous 02/02/12(Thu)00:39 No.17770725
Medium threat level planet. Preferably one that was just conquered.
    >> TUCAMP 02/02/12(Thu)00:39 No.17770737
Lights defense. No sense doing anything too flashy. Take it out and strip it. Granted Dyles' fleet will arive, nut that's why we're going with lightly defended.
    >> Anonymous 02/02/12(Thu)00:40 No.17770738
Look for something valuable and not terribly well guarded.
Then look for something else as far away from that as possible.
    >> Big Fat Zergling 02/02/12(Thu)00:41 No.17770756

I'm down for that. Split our forces again, one initial attack wave, a second wave to exploit any openings he shows us and a third wave to remain as a reserve force in case he wants to adapt to the tactics from the last fight.
    >> Cerebrate Anon 02/02/12(Thu)01:00 No.17770996
Vernost III was a highly-populated world, primarily known for its massive University of the Arts, a cultural center in the Directorate. Our files from the UED indicate that it was home to several million professional philosophers and billions of professional or aspiring artists (the file's author has inserted a dry aside that no effort was made to distinguish the two in recent censuses).

Our overlord notices ships of every type and description arriving, landing, and then leaving. Two freighters matching the type Dyles uses for terraforming are parked in orbit, apparently waiting for the rest of their group to arrive.

Aside from the many civilian ships, many military vessels are landing and leaving, as well. This may not be a centralized force, but there are plenty of enemies who can fire back.
    >> Anonymous 02/02/12(Thu)01:05 No.17771056
    Lightning raid on those terraformers.
I don't think we're going to be able to take this planet. Probably a 'break as much stuff as we can and then run like hell' kind of deal.
    >> TUCAMP 02/02/12(Thu)01:06 No.17771060
Good enough for me, let's hit it. Small force shows up to draw Dyles, followed by a midsized flanking force, then when dyles regroups a final larger froce that again flanks.
    >> Big Fat Zergling 02/02/12(Thu)01:06 No.17771069

Curious. Can we get a more thorough scan? I want to know what's up on the surface of that planet
    >> TUCAMP 02/02/12(Thu)01:07 No.17771073
Right and if possible capture one of the terraformers, I want a look at them chemicals.
    >> Cerebrate Anon 02/02/12(Thu)01:14 No.17771168
(Pretty sure we already did that. It's just assloads of the toxic chemicals that make up Dyles' preferred atmosphere)

Closer inspection shows a massive crowd surrounding every landing pad and spacedock on the planet. Ships land, people board, and the ships take off.

Our initial volley is a great success. We destroy both of the freighters, plenty of civilian craft, a battlecruiser, and damage what appears to be a mobile munitions cache. The civilian craft all turn to flee, while the military craft cover their escape rather than engaging us.

    Shall we pursue?

    >> TUCAMP 02/02/12(Thu)01:37 No.17771483
No, Dyles will use the civies to push further into UED space. We just have to keep driving Dyles deeper, weakening both of them in the process. We don't want the UED to be in a position to resist us once WE kill dyles, do we?
    >> Anonymous 02/02/12(Thu)01:38 No.17771511
    n. Nuke the spaceports.
Of course, I'm getting a horrible feeling that this is all a setup and we're murdering millions of uninfected UED civilians.
OH WELL BETTER SAFE AND SORRY. Wait that's wrong.

    Oh right.
Well at least we're agreed on nuking the spaceports then.
    >> Big Fat Zergling 02/02/12(Thu)01:49 No.17771657

+1 to nuking (or carrier beaming) the space ports
    >> Cerebrate Anon 02/02/12(Thu)01:54 No.17771707
Our forces allow the ships to gain ground as they flee. We can almost feel Dyles relaxing at his seemingly assured escape, and we feel wickedly entertained when our second force appears out of Warp, weapons blazing (or oozing, or...you know what I mean), engaging the forces from their flank. When a second military force of Dyles-controlled ships arrives out of Warp, trapping our forces in the middle, we feel like it's just unfair.

(Decide how to react and roll a d100 to see how it goes)

(Then, suddenly, Dyles' third reserve pops in behind ours! GASP!)

Our third force arrives on the scene just as the civilian ships jump away. Dyles' ships, clearly outmatched, react as one: they bunch up together, and one of their larger ships (a gunboat configuration we're not familiar with) barrels straight into our line at its thickest area. As it rams into a group of scourge, it jumps to Warp. The explosions stretch straight forward across half an AU, taking a substantial number of our units out instantly. Dyles' forces flee through the hole and jump to Warp as one.

Not our greatest battle, to be sure.

Meanwhile our nuclear missiles are raining on the planet, leaving irradiated slag where once a bright center of learning stood.

(Ok! I'll see you guys on Sunday. And, if I get back into town at a reasonable time on Thursday the 9th, also Thursday. If not, you'll have to deal with it)

Have you guys completely forgotten about Zergleks (Daleks)? You know, our superweapons, each of which can take out a small fleet on its own?
Why haven't you been using them and making more of them (iirc, we have only 3)
