    Sup /tg/

So my GM decided to run a fun game for us that everyone in the group apparently thought would be fun.You get to choose 1 FPS character from any game and a randomly selected universe would be chosen.

The universe we ended up rolling was the 40k during the Horus Heresy(put in the table by me). Now the other players don't know much of 40k and only play really generic games.

So the party now is Master Chief, Baird, Commander Shepard, and Noble Six. The GM waved off Shep and Baird and said they were fine.

Now I was last to choose my character and was going to roll Captain Titus until I remembered there are some shooter characters way better to choose. I was thinking maybe Nomad would work but then his suit is terrible in comparison. There was only one logical character to choose.

    I went with Doomguy.

The GM decided on using Deathwatch for the system since it will be the Horus Heresy. The GM will make each sheet for us so we don't have to worry about making them and we can modify them as we see fit, with proof that is.

We are apparently going to start at the beginning of the Heresy itself and fight all the way to the big showdown.

So my question is how will Commander Shepard, Master Chief, Baird, Noble Six, and Doomguy each fair in the Horus Heresy?

    Pic some what related.

    No one knows?

I pretty sure Baird won't get far, but Shepard might get some where.

Chief and Six will get some where won't they?

    How far will I get?

Biotic Shepard, maybe. Spartans should be able to handle some Spess Mehrens. Doomguy is probably on the same level as Baird with respect to survivability.

And as for how your guys will fair? Chief and Six can each run as scouts/guerilla/long range style fighters. Six can also be the group wheelman/driver with Baird being the mechanic that gives another gun/mans turrets and shit. Shepherd will be the party face. And you? You will be the party nuke.

Chief and Six should definitely be scouts. It's not that they're not tough, it's that Warhammer is fucking ridiculous. But, they're both experts at stealth and guerilla tactics, and could take down a couple Space Marines given the chance. Six is kind of at a disadvantage though, since Chief is his superior in pretty much every way. Does Chief have Cortana? Because that can be considered a major game-changer. Cortana could bypass and control any technology the imperium has.

Also, I think I would much rather choose someone with retarded physics behind them. Like someone from TF2, I mean you've got:
the heavy who can kill people by pointing at them and shouting bang
the soldier who can not only fire rockets without signs of recoil, he also can survive at least 2 direct shots
the scout who can move at 400 units per second on foot indefinitely (i don't know the exact speed this converts to, but it's pretty fast) and can double jump
the pyro who can reflect all projectiles and set anything on fire (bolter rounds are projectiles)
the demoman who can, if skilled enough, eat 3 sticky grenades and move huge distances very quickly he also has the ability to increase his speed and hp by killing people with his sword, maybe not viable against SPESS MAHREENS but worth knowing
the engineer, who can repair anything with a few swings of his wrench and set up teleports and an infinitely healing and ammo refuelling station
the medic who regenerates his own health, can make himself and others invulnerable or increase the damage done by an individual 3-fold or rapidly heal someone
the sniper who can take down just about any target with a headshot, he can also cause a group of enemies to take increased damage
the spy who can saunter through the enemy pretending to be one of them or by being invisible, he can also activate his dead ringer and instantly avoid death

Basically, Demi-Fiend is incredibly bad ass. He survives the apocalypse by assimilating demons, and uses his new found powers to bitch slip other monsters, tame them, murder them, and fuse them. He ventures through the world, killing people, until he destroys the demon moon and fights Lucifer. When he beats Lucifer, the jolly old guy tells him to take his army and march on Heaven, because he can't. He does so, and kills this greater being that spawns other entities like YHWH, I think. Because he kills god, he's cursed to live forever. He can't die because he is barred from both heaven and hell, stuck in between - Earth - forever. Also, everything he killed died for good, because by killing the demon moon he ends the cycle of death and rebirth, permanently.

That and the fact that doom is less extreme and makes more sense, as in it's space marine fights minions of hell because it's his fucking job, eventually decides to drive the whole damn invasion back because it's his job and average androgynous 12 year old animekid mary sue enslaving demons, killing satan, fighting angels, killing fucking gods and well yeah... That or have armor levels show how heavy it gets, the armor is modular and starts with flak and keeps getting better as you slap more shit onto it.g

Then Chief and Six since they are Spartans and have been fighting for 20 plus years.

    Then Baird then Shepard.

    >Gordon Freeman
    >the most iconic fps one-man-army hero
No. Don't even go there. OP has the right of it; DOOMGUY is the most iconic. Starring in the first commercially prominent FPS tends to do that for you. "Generic games", indeed. MC, Baird, Shepard, and Noble Six are fairly recent icons. Baird is gonna get relegated to tech-bitch, poor bastard.

I recall /v/ and /tg/ going back and forth over the matter of which protagonists would actually survive the 40k setting, and finally settling on Doomguy, who's basically one badass Guardsman sans tactics, and Samus Aran, who's a walking arsenal.

Going through this thread, other iconic protagonists I can agree with include Katarn, Soldier G65434-2 (aka SS2 protag), and Denton.

OP: if you haven't, you really need to play through Doom I&II asap. The man is walking death incarnate, and unlike MC, Shepard, and N6, he doesn't have the benefit of artificial enhancements or psychic prowess... yet he still manages to be more lethal than any of them. The books/comic don't do this as much justice as the games do (don't play 3).

Well, to be fair, B312 (Noble 6's "name") is a Spartan 3, so hasn't been working at it quite as long as the Chief.

And is a Spartan 2, meaning he was in active service by the time the Spartan 3 Beta company was in development.

However, "less experience" or not, they're both classified as "hyper lethal" being the only two of that classification.

Is the "A Spartan Will Rise" video, Halsey is quoted as saying, "Hyper-lethal. There's only one other SPARTAN with that rating." Which is in reference to John-117, or Master Chief as he is better known.

Do a new thread. This one got really shitty and is near to being dead I think. Other dudes, I know the fluff and shit with Halo. I just didn't recall halsey saying anything about a second HL. I still think that Six ought to be the driver/pilot of the group since he was attached to a unit that did a lot of testing with with prototype vehicles and shit at one point and Baird ought to be the Co-Pilot/repairguy.

In terms of combat prowess i'm thinking

    Doomguy>Chief>Noble>Shep>Baird

    In terms of Setting Breakingness

    Shep/Doomguy/Chief/Noble/Baird

Baird is just Baird, he's competant but won't be too game-changing

Noble will HEROIC SACRIFCE, probably taking down a BBEG in the process or doing a ''go on without me I'll hold them off'' last stand thingy

Chief is a survivor, He does pretty well in hopeless wars, he should have a major impact

Doomguy will just fucking kill everything, if this game does not end with him marching into the eye of terror and BFG-ing Khorne you're doing it wrong

Shepard is the game breakingest though, as much as I love the Mass Effect series the whole thing is basically a Build-Your-Own-Mary-Sue/SpaceJesus simulator, expect him to single handedly find the Chaos-wrecking Mcguffin, and wherever Shepard goes he leaves a trail of good deeds in his wake. Unless it's a renegade Shepard, who would actually fit into 40k universe rather well

I am 100% convinced that, if armed with the full array of weapons of the Space Marines, Doomguy could singlehandedly wipe out the Traitor Legions and about 95% of the demons of the Warp. I am also convinced that the High Lords of Terra would try to screw him out of his vacation, and they and everyone defending them would die shortly thereafter.
