'J where are you?' you ask him.
'In the library sir.' he answers.

"Erica, J says he found something I need to see. Wanna come?" you ask her.
"Sure." she says as she gets up and brushes the sand off her.

The two of you walk back up to the house.
As you do, you make a mental note to install an elevator up from the beach.

You arrive at the doors to the library, your familiars are waiting there for you.
"Sir... Madam... If you wouldn't mind me asking, why are you children?" J asks.
"An excercise in class earlier, It should wear off soon." you answer.
    "So what did you find?"
"Right this way sir..." He says as they lead you deeper into the library half-filled with books and tomes.

    So...robo-maid?
    I think robo-maid.
Though it puts us in a difficult quandary.
We need to check it to see if it's just a complex VI, or a true AI, but the longer we test it, the more and more likely our latent data manipulation MAKES the robo-maid into a full AI, and we can't just wipe it to make room for Naru.

You pass by shelf after shelf of books.
Whole sections of them were missing, taken out by the previous owner of the house.
"We haven't actually entered it sir," J explains to you as you walk
"We only just found the door."

He stops you in front of a shelf filled with a large collection of classical literature.
All of the books were leather bound and glorious to behold.
"That book sir. It's the switch." J points to a copy of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
Two shelves above it was the very same book, possibly the real one.
You pull down on the one that J pointed out.

There was no dramatic creaking, no sound of large gears moving.
The whole shelf just moved inwards and slid to the right quietly and smoothly, as if it were skating on ice.

You, Erica and J step inside.

On the other hand, she's a tall busty bot who's armed to the teeth with built in weaponry, and comes standard with thigh highs. I mean, goddamn, look at her.

I liked the "first 5 rolls" rule he used to follow. It restricted the randomness of the dice somewhat.
    >> Anonymous 04/26/12(Thu)22:41 No.18877388
    >>18877208

    17 people rolled, 0.99^17 = 0.8429. The chance of rolling a 1 was about 16%.

Criticals are not a rare occurrence.

If 10 people roll, there is a 9.5% chance that one of those rolls is a one.

If 15 people roll, there is a 14% chance that one of those rolls is a one.

If 20 people roll, there is a 19% chance that one of those rolls is a one.

The same chances apply to 100s.

Given that so many people enjoy this quest, I don't think the current policy with regards to crits is a good one. It allows one person's bad or good luck to nullify everyone else's participation. It allows a plan that people have been developing for a long time to fail for no other reason than random chance. It punishes participation for no good reason.

LG, please consider changing your current policy with regard to critical failure and success.

Inside you found what you could only describe as a mad scientists laboratory.
With dull grey walls, and a white tile floor, it occupied as much floor area as the library hiding it.
Not a spec of dust was in the place, the airtight hidden door preventing any particles from coming in.

There were beakers and flasks, clean but haphazzardly arranged on the counters.
Equipment, whose use and function you can only hope to fathom, was everywhere.
Large Teslacoils stood in two corners of the room, the copper and steel shining brightly.
A whole wall was dedicated to a large console studded with buttons, dials and gauges.
You have no idea what it does.

And in the middle of the room was a table.
    There was something on it.
Something that had been carefully covered with a sheet.

Both of those suppositions are false.

Then you have to factor in people who deliberately try for bad rolls, and fools like Fritz who leave the dice on because they're too lazy to take them off.

Curiosity takes hold of you and you move to uncover whatever it was on that table.
As the cloth fell away, you find that it wasnt really a table.
It was a rectangular pedestal of steel.
Welded to the floor, it would be imposible to move it without using force.
Wires ran from it under the floor, possibly connected to the console on the wall.

And on this pedestal was a pile of parts.
Some look like hydraulic pistons, some looked like giant cathodes.
There were gears, man were there gears.
All shapes and sizes, some looking like they were ripped out of a car's transmission.

But the weirdest thing in that pile was an arm.
    A clean bloodless arm.
It looked so realistic you thought someone had it chopped off.
But upon closer inspection it wasn't real.
Metal bits and wires were sticking out of the cut part.
The pale white. skin was a rubbery but warm coating.
Around the wrist was a ring of steel.
Inscribed on it was the number 15 and nothing more.

You think if this was some form of advanced prosthetic arm, or possibly parts of a robotic experiment that was never completed.

As you look around the room for any possible notes or journals the previous occupant might have kept, you speak to Jakob

"J, thank you and the guys for finding this. I would not have know this was here if not for you."
"It is nothing sir. To be honest it was all blind luck, actually. Master Ted was checking the books when he saw two copies of Frankenstein. As he checked them out to see if they were really the same, the room opened." he explained.

You find nothing. No notes. No papers. Just more parts, equipment and a whole lot more buttons.

You exit the lab and the hidden door closes automatically behind you.
The time is 6pm, Ursula and Nanoha should be coming home by now.

"We have to show Ursula that room." You tell her twin.
"She will cream herself." Erica grins. "But fiiiiiiiirst..."

You are Sakamoto Mio, the hero of Japan.
And you just learned that you will have a child with him in the future.

You sit back and finish off the glass of bourbon you poured yourself.
    Thinking of the possibilities.
Children, a family, stability, those don't sound half-bad.

You ignore the pile of paperwork that has built up during the week and get up off your seat.
You need something to keep your mind occupied.

    WAT DO OH MAJOR?

But kind of true for the time.
It would have been more accurate if Mio was Imperial Army, rather than Navy, though. Navy tended to be a little more level-headed than their army counterparts (except when it came to battleships. But then, every Navy at the time had Admirals who couldn't see that the age of the battleship had already passed).

The thing is that she knows Erica. She knows that we wouldn't have done it to hurt her, but the emotional turmoil she's going through shows that she obviously can't help but feel offended. It's hard to be in a relationship with more than one person and the "I'm not sure I can do this anymore" implies preexisting concerns, which indicates the nature of the relationship is the issue, as we've made no mistakes with her otherwise in the past.

We have no clue what the fallout will be so stop posting that like it will happen already and when we get to Hayate we sort shit out

It's pretty perfectly explainable why Hayate did what he did.

He's the happiest he's been in forever and a half, minus the whole Naru thing. To him, this is a prank because he hasn't really had much of a reality check. So when he runs around being a dick to make with the self-funny, he's not really thinking ahead to the damage he may cause.

I say this is a good thing for him. This damage we can ease. It won't be easy, but it can be done. It'll give him some perspective too, as far as what pranks are safe, and which are an awful idea.

Alright I have to crash, so i'll leave this out,
it's my rough draft for an apology to Ursula.
tweak where necessary, and best of luck.

    >Ursula I know that your extremely upset with me, and I dont expect that you will forgive me anytime soon, I know that I'm probably the last person you want to talk to right now, but I have to apologize for what I did to you.

    >I took things way to far and I ended up hurting one of the most important people in my life. I acted like a complete and total ass all for the sake of a few cheap laughs at the expense of my friends and family.

    >I want you to take as long as you need to calm down, and I want you to know that I am willing to spend the rest of my life making this up to you.

I dont feel like an "I love you" would be appropriate, but maybe something in a "I made me really happy that your not opposed to the idea of having kids" or something along those lines.

It helps if you try not to take it too seriously, and keep reminding yourself that in the end it's just a very elaborate fanfic. Just try to keep it at an emotional arms length if you start feeling like it's wearing on you.

Also works with works of horror when you start to get too freaked out. Take yourself out of the film or game and remind yourself that it is a film or game.

The whole thing was fucking retarded beyond all measure

There was a reason during the planning for this once we first found out about the candies we decided we should not prank family members

Everyone who posted during it seems to of forgotten that and rode the train right into idiotville

Did we actually intentionally troll Ursula, or was her being chosen the result of a roll? Because I don't actually remember voting for Ursula or seeing anyone suggest it.

What I'm asking is if we the players chose to troll Ursula, or if LG selected her randomly.

Because if it's the latter, this is only our fault insofar as we chose to go on a trolling spree at all.

    >It helps if you try not to take it too seriously, and keep reminding yourself that in the end it's just a very elaborate fanfic. Just try to keep it at an emotional arms length if you start feeling like it's wearing on you.
You're entitled to your own opinion, but I feel that this results in players not considering the consequences of their actions on the story, and that it leads to a flippant style of play.
It'll be like being that guy at the gaming table that's playing minecraft on his laptop during combat or during conversations with NPC's.

Sure, some people can devote attention to what's going on and give proper consideration to choices even as they remain emotionally detached, but that doesn't apply to everyone.
