Good thing I archived it last night, but it looks like a bit of it is missing. http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/18884233/

    I'll just repost it.

Asking your shadow to form needles in your hand, it agrees as you lie in wait for your prey. The lumbering grows closer and closer, until he enters the room, two mages behind him. You decide to go after the more dangerous quarry…

    (Attack roll = 14!)

Without a sound, shadows slash the Achilles’ tendon and wrist of one of the mages, and he falls to the ground, cursing violently! A couple also pierce the weapon arm of the armored knight! “GAH, FUCK! Where did that come from?” It looks like they don’t know you’re here, but there’s only so many places they can check… You send two more flying at the downed mage!

    (Attack roll = 13 + 1 for downed opponent!)

Both of the dark needles find their home in his neck. They hit the sides, so it might not be lethal, but either way, he’s definitely out of the fight. The tingling in your head explodes into pain as you hear a gentle voice yell, “I’ve found him!” Shit. Backing up the stairs, you feel a torrent of heat rushing towards you, followed by a pillar of fire…!

    (Defense roll = 7.)

You demand the shadows to shield you, and they leap to your protection! But you didn’t have enough time to shield your legs, and they’re bathed in searing flames! Shiiiiiit, it BURNS! You look down, groaning in pain, expecting to see a mass of red tissue and you see… your clothes? Wait, are these fire resistant, too? Damn, that was a good deal.

You flee up the stairs. You don’t know what else this guy can do, but you don’t want to find out. Kicking open the door, you escape into the second floor. Beds, weapon racks, armor racks, posters on the wall… it looks like this is the barracks. You count 9 beds. There’s only one other door here. It must lead upstairs. There’s a shadowy ventilation shaft to your right. Two torches light the room.

You quickly move up to the ventilation shaft and look inside. You’re greeted by darkness. It’s a simple task to smother the torches in darkness. The room is almost completely black. With a bit of effort, you’re able to carefully maneuver yourself in between the ceiling and the door frame. You can’t hold this for too long, but you don’t need to…

“Shit, he took out the torches. Gimme some light, man.” A small orb of light floats into the room, covering everything in a while glow. Underneath you, the armored man walks into the room and looks around. “I don’t see him.” He continues walking in, and he’s followed by the mage. You can’t hold this position for much longer…

Taking no chances, you drop on the mage, spawning an inky sword in your hand…!

    (Attack roll = 14 + 2 for sneak attack and height advantage = 16!)

The force of your body weight helps to cut into the back of his neck, killing him instantly and painlessly. Mages can’t do their fancy magic if you kill them before they get the chance. Hearing the thump, the knight turns around in time to see you hunched over his friend, covered in blood just as the orb of light fades away, throwing the room into darkness yet again. “Aw, shit!”

    Aw shit indeed, Jerry.

You try to duck underneath his blind attack, but you’re struck in the shoulder by his flail! You yelp out in pain and shuffle away from him into a corner, testing your arm. It hurts, but you don’t think it’s bleeding or broken. It’ll be one hell of a bruise tomorrow, though.

You can’t get close to a weapon like that in the hands of such a reckless man. You send daggers to assail him from every angle!

    (Attack roll = 15 + 1 for blinded opponent!)

You hear him cry out in pain as a shadow knife digs into his back and slices the chain of his flail, sending the ball crashing into a bed! Lightning flashes, giving you a critical second of sight. It doesn’t look like the rest of him’s been hurt due to his armor, but he’s disarmed now. Good.

I'm just sating that using dice for every single movement kind of defeats the whole purpose of planning. No matter how great our plan is, it can be shat on by a nat 1. No matter how piss-poor our opponent is, he can defeat us by few lucky rolls.
And vice-verse too. No matter how stupid our plans are, they can succeeded if we roll lucky. No matter how powerful our opponents are, we can succeed by having several lucky throws.

Dices are good, I guess. But they shouldn't be used ALWAYS (In my opinion). These fights could have gone in a well-lit combat arena for all we care, it hardly makes a difference.

How about we place the guys in the same room with the knight and then explore the rest of the building. Hey and maybe we could break all of their legs. That should limit their chances of escaping. We'll want to extract information about the leader who's name I cant remember. We should also check out what they know about the hit on our master.

Prisoner was stupid, I agree. But the latter part was not, we're really having shitty luck today, taking chances is out of the question.

You should complain that no one thought to make an ounce of preparation before storming the lair or that they thought walking in, announced to be surrounded by several enemies was good idea.

There’s a couple of doors here, one of which seems to have been slammed open in a rush, a trail of papers leading to the strange person you saw running away.

You look up at the cityscape, silent, cold, black. The perfect environment for a mission like tonight. You couldn’t have asked for better weather.

If you wanted reckless actions from our protagonist, you shouldn't have given an inherently disciplined individual a style that rewards caution and preparedness. Yes, it's exciting to break the mold once in a while and get stuck in, but not when our life is inherently on the line and we're still learning the ropes of our powers.

The single most important rule to our survival and success is to not be dumb. And we're being dumb once in a while.

    That's dumb.

When I meant reckless, I meant going after criminals who had actually done something as opposed to a random bard. And then going to a bank afterwards.

Reckless was probably a poor choice of words, but holy shit why wouldn't you go for the leader of the MANHUNTERS just after I commented that Sifu's hit probably wasn't legal?

And I can't be responsible for people knocking on the entrance to their base and threatening them.

I was just coming to that. I would suggest that we interrogate Johnny and then kill him. He might be the key to finding out who ordered the hit and although we will lose some bounty money, this isn't a quest for the biggest bounty but to find our master.

I realize that it's morally a bit shady to kill him but it's the most pragmatic approach I can think of and anyway he kind of gets what he deserves if he is related to the hit on our Master.
