    The year is 2025.
Your name is Dave, and here is where your summary ends, because that insane bitch has your friend and your cat.
    ---
    >Dave: This is you. You're 25, and you have a 'Bullfrog' gen-3 prototype implanted in your spine, allowing you to control electronics with your mind.
    >Abel Rowling: Your coworker\drinking-buddy. Used to be your roommate years ago before you got him a job at the place you worked, now he's living on his own and taking care of your cat, Ishelda. Is currently investigating EE in his spare time for you.
    >Jun Viridian: The 38 year old neuroscientist who implanted you with the prototype, and from what you can tell, was the one who designed it.
    >John Grayson: A security specialist who works for EE. He has implanted arms and broad shoulders. He's less tactiturn than you thought.
    >Amy & Verne: Two vigilante cyborgs; Verne is a quiet, overweight man with an augmented arm, while Amy is a teenage girl with neon hair, augmented legs, and a wrist computer full to the brim with random AI constructs.
    >Cyan: Your bullfrog's onboard AI; specializes in networking. Likes to alert you when 'he' senses devices you can connect to.
    >Alli Templar: A young woman with a very sharp knife. Her brother died in the previous Bullfrog experiments. Out for revenge against you, and against Jun, for crimes you two didn't really commit. Very, very unstable.
    ---
<Patch me into Abel's phone.> You tell Cyan, and he does so.

The voice that responds isn't Abel's. It's a voice that you heard just today, just before an EMP scrambled your shit.

"Hey, Dave." The firebomber said. "It's about time you called."

We need to get in contact with Amy and Verne and get over there. Abel is pretty much our last connection to our old life, and our only true friend.

And that bitch has our cat.

Maybe we could figure out a way to hack into the phone she is using? Overload it or something? If it is one of those earbud phones it exploding in her head isn't going to be fun.

"Using him for what? What do you want from me?"
"This will be simple." She said. "If you kill that doctor for me, I'll let your friend go. Simple as that."
"If I felt any kind of hesitation or pity against you before, it's completely gone now." You snarl.
<Cyan, can you keep two calls up at the same time?>
    <Indeed.>

"We can do this two ways; We go in while you stay on the phone and distract her- or you can supposedly agree to her demands, and we can rendezvous together and take her out working together. We're already in the car, so hurry up and decide." Verne said.
"Well, you get to choose. Your friend here and his cat, or Dr. Viridian." The girl said, her lofty, sing-song voice twisting into something full of hatred. "And choose quickly."

"Be prepared for explosives and EMP devices." You told Verne. "I'll keep her on the line, and keep her distracted as best I can. Good luck."

"Well? Decide already!" She screeched, quickly shifting the camera on the smartphoneheadset until it was pointed at- Abel, tied to a chair, knocked unconscious. Something red was trickling down his face. Your blood went cold. "Don't worry, he's still alive." She said.

"How are you still alive?" You ask. "I shot you. With a gauss rifle."
"You got me in the arm." She said. "I can't use the arm anymore. . but I don't need to." She laughed, and twisted the camera again. In your hud, you could see a stump, still bloody and ragged, wrapped up by a tight cloth.
"Now." You say. "How do you want me to do it?"
    She took a sharp breath.
"I can do it with a knife, or maybe with my rifle." You said, coldly. "Just don't hurt him. I'll get you what you want."

Abel's eyes opened, and he rolled out of the chair, exiting the view of the smartphone headset. You heard him say something, but you weren't sure what.
"I'm not! I'm not." The girl said, and there was a second gunshot. The headset view went swooping and diving unnaturally, becoming much too blurry to see anything. "I'm not incompetent!" She screeched. There was the sound of a breaking chair, and the phone was cut off.

    <I am, Dave. She's not answering.>

    You screech into Abel's driveway, and you see that things have gone wrong;

Verne is on the ground, eyes closed, and Amy's crawling over him, giving him CPR. Her legs and Verne's arm are both sparking wildly- Another EMP, you assume.
You dart out of the car, and hear something smash. Looking to the window, you get the perfect sight of Abel smashing another chair into the firebomber's face. She reeled back, and then her knife flashed out, shredding the chair into pieces.

Some strange, black bile rose up in the back of your throat, and you clenched your fists hard enough for your fingertips to cut into your palms.

You braced yourself, digging your heels into the soft front lawn of Abel's home, and the mechandrite shot out, piercing the glass, and grabbing the woman's leg. You twist your entire torso, and there's a sickening crunch as your mechandrite whips her out of the building- through the shattered window, and into the pavement. The sudden weight shift throws you off-balance, and you fall to your knees.

But you're not an armored, augmented supersoldier.
"We'll stay out of sight." You tell Jun. "And continue the work on that upgrade- call me when it's ready. I'll need it."
    "I'll do that, Dave."

"Amy, can your AIs see or shut down the kind of tech they've got in the van?" You ask, and she pulls up her wrist computer and boots it up. For a moment, you're suprised that the EMP didn't fry it.
"No dice." She said. "They've got some kind of faraday shield- it's keeping signals from getting into their system."

"Let me try." You say, and close your eyes.

You scan each of the cameras you can- there's some kind of static field preventing you from getting any closer, but you can still see through the field via the cameras.

This is not a normal power plant. Most of them don't have Armstek soldiers guarding them with everything from gauss rifles, to monomolecular blades.

"Fuck." You say aloud, your eyes opening. "They've got some kind of PMC in there."
"How- How did you do that?" Amy asked, eyes wide.
    "Prototype implant. Long story."

She put her fingers to her lips, as if thinking, and then took off her wrist computer. "Here. Take any of them you want, but I only think there are three that would be any useful. Cyan, Azure, and Onyx."

"Cyan is a network specialist- he normally does all of my hacking for me. Onyx calculates jumps and physical actions, parabolas, the works. It's due to him that I can leap from rooftop to rooftop. And finally, Azure is . . harder to explain. He pays attention to spacial areas, makes maps of the places I travel, and does all kind of weird stuff. I don't even know why he acts the way he does, so he might be a bit glitchy."

You open the door without knocking, strolling into the room.

"Oh, god." Jun says when she sees your face, sounding ill.
"Meet Amy and Verne." you say, motioning to the two behind you. "They're. . the vigilantes from last time, except they kinda saved my skin a second time."
"I. . see." Jun said, collapsing in her chair. Grayson and Verne's eyes meet, and they give one another a single, stern nod.
"So, doc, about that upgrade." You say. "How's the work on it going?"
"Not very well." She said. "We can get the shielding itself fine, but there's just not enough power to go around."

Amy brightens up. "What about one of my AIs? I have one that can balance power like a . . like a juggler or something." She says, her similie falling apart at the end. "He's pretty stupid, though, so you can just take a smartphone apart and build that into it!"

Soon enough, Jun and Amy are talking to one another about various technical issues that you don't really understand (and thus can't be bothered with,) So you turn to Grayson.
"John." You say. "You need a bigger security force."
He nods solemnly. "We got the camera feed that you spliced to us." He said. "It looks nasty. And I'm guessing it's your target?"
    You nod.
"We're going to need a lot more non-augs."

"Or," Amy said in a sing-song voice, twisting around on her heels. "A lot of augs with fancy electromagnetic shieldinggg!"

And yes, that place is my target, that woman threatened my cat, and no one gets to threaten my cat. Given that they're set up near here and are going to be interested in us after talking to crazy fire bombing chick we should probably deal with them before they try to deal with us.

Maybe Jun and Amy can get this shielding working when they combine heads. Augs are pretty damn strong and useful, and we don't have enough non-augs at the moment. So if they can fix something up, we can put together a super strike force.

That is if Jun and Amy can work well together seeing as Amy is pretty damn crazy and can't stand still.

"Now, more exposition time." You say, looking to Jun. "What the hell is *wrong* with that girl?"
"Well.." She said. "Her brother was all she had."
"Hang on, hang on." Amy cut in. "We all don't know the story, so it might be best if we just. . started from the start."

"Okay." Jun said. "Garrett Templar was once one of our security specialists. He was solely taking care of his sister, and then we designed the Bullfrog."
    "Bullfrog?"
"A Gen-3 implant. Think of it as. .a brain and nervous system extension." Jun said. "We didn't know about the feedback issues then, and so we took volunteers. Garrett was one of them, and he was the first. His sister was there to take care of him after the surgery, and things went. . ugly."
"So, the chick saw her brother die, and was all alone in the world, and crap like that." Amy concluded.
"Right. And she thinks it was my fault, and Dave's fault, and now she intends to kill both of us."
"How would it be Dave's fault? Is he even in this story?" Amy asked, glancing to you. "Wait, I see. You have the implant thing too, right? And she thinks you're like, stomping on her brother's memory or something."
    You shrug.
"But yes, we have the shielding done. . theoretically. I'm still a bit wary of it, but prototypes exist for a reason." Jun said, steepling her fingers. "It's just a coating, a series of cables, and a small computer, so we can start the upgrade any time."

"Strike team? Consisting of who?" Jun asked.

"Me, the girl, and Dave. We're all combat-capable, and I know Verne here well enough that he'll be able to lead the security team in my absence."

    <Shields are full.>

    ---

You, Amy, and Grayson are in his car, racing along the road. You grasp the crossbow a bit tighter, examining it and your small quiver of bolts. Next to it, you make sure your gauss rifle hadn't been damaged by the previous EMP blasts- It hadn't. "I don't know how much time we'll have." Grayson said. "So we'll have to move quick. Everyone, put on your headsets and call Verne; He'll be overwatch."

You do so, and you find that you can hear both Grayson and Amy- Must be a conference call.

The wall around the power plant is tall, and smooth. The gate's closed.
"Amy." you hear Verne say. "Go over the wall, execute the gate guards, and get it open before anyone notices."

She gets out of the car, and then flips two switches on her legs. Strange pistons shoot out of the back of her legs, and she takes two steps back, and crouches, before taking a massive leap over the wall, flying over.

You look down the length of the sword you'd taken, and then stick it onto the end of the mechandrite. The mechandrite's claws twist, and lock around the hilt of the blade. Onyx runs the calculations for the mechandrite's new three feet of deadly pointiness, and your mind immediately adjusts.

You've no time to re-switch your AI back to Cyan, but that doesn't matter- Cyan only helps you with distance, and you're right next to the door. You put your palms against it, and focus...
The door clicks, and opens, the palm scanner saying 'Welcome' as it does so. You motion to the others, and they follow you into the facility. Amy takes point, with her submachinegun in one hand, and a wickedly curved dagger in the other. Behind you, Grayson holds a large, souped up gauss rifle, complete with EMP shielding.

Amy leans around one of the L-shaped hallways, and then backs up. She holds up three fingers.

You nod, and whisper directly to their headsets, and they each nod.

    Three. . Two. . .One.

You barrel around the corner, firing your crossbow once again. Grayson's thrown knife gets his target, and in bullet-time, you watch Amy pounce upon the third man with her wickedly curved dagger, not even giving him time to scream.

The rest of the trek through the facility is mostly without incidents, except for the one time you reach a maintenance stairwell.

You sense something. It's hard for you, without Cyan helping, but you can tell that it's above you, and slightly to the left. It's far, though. . perhaps closer to the roof?
You realize that you have to decide- The original plan was for the three of you to go down to the core of the facility, but whatever that is that you can sense could be important too.

". . It's best not to cancel the mission halfway through. My reccomendation is that we split here- We'll be able to keep in touch, but me and legs can continue on the mission as planned, while you check it out."

The idea isn't very comforting, but you have the feeling that Grayson has had experience with this kind of stuff before.

You nod, and they go down the stairwell, while you go up.

As you scale up the stairs, alone, you hear something strange. Something like . . a woman moaning?
You have a bad feeling about this.

You sense whatever it is looming closer- It's beyond the door. You can hear a few voices muttering something, and then you hear another agonized moan, and then a loud gasp, and the sound of a ratchet.

You think you know what the sound is- they're putting an augmentation on that templar girl. You put your hand on the door- not enough time to swap AIs right now- and focus. .
You're certain you can feel another mechandrite. . but that's it- It's too far away for you to control.
The agonized moaning and gasping stopped, and it takes a moment for you to realize what it changed to. Breathless, shaking, laughter, and then the sound of two sharp blades grinding against the other. You have to hurry before they finish the surgery- you barge into the room, and see something strange.

First of all, the first thing you notice is that you were right. Alli Templar was laying on the table, strapped down, a long, silver augmentation attached to the shoulder of her missing arm. Her eyes are rolled into the back of her head, and she has varicose, blackened veins covering her body, looking somewhat like blood poisoning.

Two augmented men were in the room, both with mechandrites and medical tools held within the mechandrite's claw. They're wearing large red robes, and as they turn to you, you see that they're wearing gas masks. Within their arms are gauss rifles.

The first man uses his mechandrite to hit an alarm pad, and the second man points the rifle at you.

Klaxons go off in the background, below you.

You fire your gauss rifle, but the projectile goes wide. At the same moment, you swing your mechandrite, aiming to swipe at the other man. The second man leaps back, and the man with the rifle fires at you.

You were luckier than you thought you ever would be- The second man's timing was off. The very split second he fired, your mechandrite whipped out, and a shot that would normally have blown your head off, instead deflected off of a monomolecular blade, the projectile going wide.

The second man kneels, and then pulls something out of his robe. A small blue device, mounted to the back of a glove. He raises his palm to you, and something fires out. You've seen this twice before- An EMP.

You grin as the EMP bounces harmlessly against your shielding, your AI warning you that your shields can only take two more hits before it needs to recharge.

The rifle 'driteman fires twice more as you run, but Onyx is smarter than him- Onyx warns you where each bullet would go, and in bullet-time, it's a simple matter to dodge.

Skidding under the second shot, you leap forward, twisting your entire body, sending the mechandrite whipping through the air around you. The monomolecular blade on the end tore through the EMP'driteman, as he fell into chunks.

"Fuck me." The rifle'driteman said, and backed away from you. His mechandrite shot towards you with a syringe of some kind, but your own caught it in midair, cutting off the end of the claw.

She skids away, her bare feet squeaking along the floor, and then she snarls at you, impossible to understand. There's a lull in combat, and then you see that more and more sharp, silver blades are extending from her arm- out of her elbow, slipping out of the top of her wrist, everywhere.

She screams something feral, and comes at you again. You leap out of the way, and send your sword'drite swinging into her. She catches onto it, sparks coming from her limb, and she tears the blade out of your Drite's grasp.

Your nose starts to bleed from the extended bullet time, and you finally see how she's so fast.
There's an augment in her back. Something clear, with a blue liquid in it. As you watch, you see the level of liquid slowly drains, and you realize-
Combat drugs. They took an insane, murderous teenage girl, gave her an arm made out of knives, and then gave her fucking combat drugs.

"I need your fucking help!" You call into the headset, leaping out of the way. You twist through the air, using your momentum along with the mechandrite, and it slams into her back, bowling her head over heels, but you don't hear the tank crack. "They turned her into a fucking weapon!"

She slams into the wall, and then unsteadily pulled herself up, turned around and faced you once more. But instead of charging like she did before, she simply walked, calmly, towards you.

You grab the crossbow out of your bag and fire it, but she brings her augment into the air, the bolt sparking off.

You focus, and try and get into her augment-
But nothing. There's nothing to control. Nothing electronic, at least.

You enumerate your options once again, and decide on the best course of action. Run.

You twist around, and bolt out of the door, slamming it shut in her face as you do so. You hear her roar, and the claw tears through the steel door as if it were butter. You leap down the stairs, slipping on the way down and gaining a few new bruises, and run into Amy.
"Here." She said, and handed you a block of something much like clay. "I told you I'd bring the explosives."

You shrug, leave it on the stairs, and continue running, eventually getting to the hallway. <Cyan Cyan Cyan Cyan> You say, running and trying to switch AIs as soon as possible.
    <Yes?>
<Help me fucking target the bomb! And the camera on that stairwell.>

As soon as you say that, your vision changes, and you see the stairwell, the small cluster of explosives sitting there. You sit there, waiting as Grayson and Amy covered you, watching the camera.

As Alli skidded down the stairs, you saw that she was pretty much standing over the bomb.

    So you activate it.

"For a while at least." Grayson said, panting. You're silent, but you look down to your busted gauss rifle and the new EMP glove.
