You are Gerald DeFlynn. After returning from a successful job, and spending nearly all the money earned on a new zoid and base upgrades, you get some practice in for the much anticipated battle against Stone Age. Though low ranked like you, the veteran pilots will likely push you and your teammates.

You awaken at dawn, having gotten a good nights sleep. As usual, the battle won't take place till noon.

Any one have Ideas on what zoids to use? I was thinking of the usual- Molga, Hound Soldier, and Demantis.

My idea for strategy is Molga burrow then try to assassinate, while the Hound and Demantis attack them as soon as we pop up. Basically rush them.

You head to the kitchen, and meet Audrey, who gives you a cheerful good morning. Vince and Eri don't usually get up until 7.

With the dark skinned girl assisting you, you make a large breakfast of eggs, sausage, pancakes and muffins. When you've finished setting the food out, Eri comes in the room, and Vince follows shortly.

"Always the early bird." he says, sitting down. "You ready for the battle today?"

"As ready as I can be." you answer. The whole battle plan hinges on you disabling Morgan, honestly your feeling a bit of pressure. You've had worse, though.

"I'll finish up working on your zoids cannon and doing a further shakedown of the Cord layer." Eri says helpfully.

You excuse yourself from the table and head down to the hanger. On the way, Rick meets you in the hall.

"Mornin', dude."

"Hey, Rick," you return, "just now getting up?"

"Yeah, I had a lot to sleep on."

You give him a pat on the shoulder. "I know. Take all the time you need. Maybe in our next battle you can go out." He grins in appreciation and waves goodbye.

You nearly forgot where the Red Horn was stowed, but you find it in the hanger. Now with its armor fully repaired, it looks truly fierce, dignified even. The bandit that used it prior nearly killed Sarah, and might have if you hadn't been there. You don't blame the zoid though.

You get in, and steer it out the hanger doors, before taking off in a run. The acceleration pulls you back in your seat, that's having legs for you.

The controls respond a bit roughly as you head down the sandy plains.
"Feisty, are we?" you say playfully. "Well, I assure you I'm much better than your last master." Gradualy you get the hang of the much heavier zoid, and it becomes more obedient. You spot a formation of rocks on the wayside, and realize they'd make a great practice target.

(ffs, right as I nearly type out a default response, I get a tie breaker)

You level the Linear cannon at the formation, and let loose. You hold back firing any missiles, those things are costly.

The formation erupts as a larger stone is flung into the air, you line up the recitals and blast it out of the sky. Feeling quite satisfied, you head back to base.

Stowing the Horn, you see that there's still an hour before you need to start heading out.

You find your teammates in the meeting room.

"You guys want to go over the plan some more?" you say.

"We were doing just that, actualy." Vince says, gesturing at the moniter. It displays a diagram of the Mammoth zoid. "The main thing to watch out here is this, the main Linear Laser gun." He points to the zoids trunk. "A direct hit from that for any of us, and we're down. No exceptions."

Audrey shudders at the thought. "We can at least see where its aimed at, right?"

"Yeah, but if Morgan's half as good as the rumors say, he'll be able to lead his shots if we leave ourselves out in the open. The best way to avoid it is keep something between ourselves and the gun's firing zone, wether it's terrain or his own teammates."

what's the plan agains? something about det cord?
>>
>>19130385
the plan is for Audrey and Vince to pin down, distract them long enough to dig underneath the Mammoth and collapse the ground, thereby trapping it and rendering immobile/inefective
>>
>>19130385
Audry and Vince distract the enemy team, while we stealth and dig under their formation. Once under their main pillar, the Elephander, we collapse the ground under it with Zoid-grade Det Cord. Come to think of it, at that close range we could probably fire with our close range laser thing, you know, the one that shreds armor.
>>
>>19130402
If vince can keep the other two busy Audrey should be able to keep the mammoth chasing it's tail in CRC but without engaging while we get beneath it, my main concern is Vince getting taken down before we can bring the mammoth down. We're only going to be able to keep pulling sneaky shit off for so long before it explodes in our face.

Vince changes the display to another diagram, this time the team's vanguard, the Zabre.

>>
>>19130512
Ok, we ought to be able to take potshots at it, and if it wanders too far out of formation you two can get some serious damage in. Audrey don't try to take him on alone, you're good but he's been piloting the Zabre for a lot longer than you have. He'll want to lure you out of formation so only go for it if he's really far and pushing his luck.

Audrey nods. "I'll do what I can."

Lastly, the monitor shows the Geruder, the most archaic of the enemy zoids. "This thing is the middle man, so to speak." Vince explains. "It's a light class zoid, but it's armor is pretty thick, especialy around the front. It's suprisingly fast, too, and can move inside the formation to cover either of its team mates. His guns aren't as big, and mostly don't have as much range, but they pack a punch. Do NOT try to engage him head on, that's what it was designed for."

>Comments?
>>
>>19130713
Stay at range, keep on circling it if you can, try to shoot at the Mammoth from more than one direction so he can't shield the guy. Fortunately he won't be shielding the Zaber as much given how much it's going to be moving around. He's on the lowest priority, highest is keeping them pinned and thinking it's an attrition war, second is punishing any over-extension the Zaber makes. If we can get him out of the running our life is much easier. Given the Mammoths armaments and skill holing it is the best chance and once we take him down we can just blow the Geruder to pieces from a distance. Play it safe, keep to cover. When it's time to burrow I'll go invisible, get to a closer hidden spot, burrow and pull what I'm known for, being a sneaky tricky bastard.
>>
>>19130759
Vince smiles. "More or less what I had in mind. The trickiest part is the beginning." He brings up a display with you and Stone Age shown on a map. Seems the battlefield this time is a wide canyon with low walls. Almost looks like an arena. "We need to fake them out with a frontal attack, then pull back without any of us going down to get them committed." He ponders with his eyes closed. "My thinking is that we'll feint a counter push, and you take that chance to slip in from below. Me and Audrey can split away to divide their attention and hopefully keep the Mammoth in place. We may not get a second chance to ground him, so you need to be sure he'll sink before you detonate. Any questions?"

Your teammates resolved, and food packed, you all load up. Eri has the Molga and Gordos loaded on the Gustav.

"I'll be running operational support this time." she tells you. "The radar on the Gordos will let me monitor the whole battlefield, even outside the designated area."
You thank her and hop in, exiting the base. Rick gives you an enthusiastic send off.

Reaching the battefield some 60 miles directly east, you and your team set up on one side of the canyon wall, staring down your opponent far across the opposite end.

["Ey, there, boyo!"] Morgan's booming voice...booms over the com. ["Glad you accepted our challenge. Though I got to wonder what you needed so long for. You up to something?"

"I may have cooked up something, or I may not." You answer back. "You'll just have to wait and see."

["Dahaha!"] the older man laughs. ["That's good, I wanted an interesting match."]

The judge drops, and makes his usual speech. Aparently the whole canyon has an area of 10 miles.

["Best to take you out quickly."] remarks the Zabre pilot as he too shoots Vince. The Hound rocks back, but the sturdy armor manages to hold, as Vince fires back with a growl. The Buster cannons fire off a brilliant violet light, sheering off the enemy's Missile pod and melting some of its armor on the rear flank.

She runs in front of the downs Houndsoldier, firing off some shots with her main cannon before hopping to avoid Morgan's counter attack. Her shots are deftly blocked by the Geruder, but Lode fails to hit her with his clumsy return fire.

Vince, showing that even wounded the Hound is to be feared, fires his Buster Cannon once more. The Geruder attempts to block, but only gets the tip of its frill to intercept, a good deal of the shot melting through and hitting the Mammoth in the leg.

"You ok?" you ask in a more secure line while firing your Laser mgs.

Putting out backs to the wall? Just the kind of rookie mistake they'll expect from people using open comms.

The girl confirms and goes to follow you down as the other team bombards you. Edge jumps out at Audrey, who's guarding the rear. She immediately kicks him away with her back legs and runs back toward the two of you as the rest of Stone Age tries to reposition and follow.

Get to concealment and dive. Set up the drill of detcord at a point below the Mammoth that we are sure we'll be able to get him or at least lure him to with ease. Make sure we're using enough detcord, the Mammoth probably has more stable footing than the Gordos, aim for excess in this.

(sorry, had to change some batteries)

<The Battle is over, the Battle is over!> the judge anounces upon recieving the surrender notice.
<The winner is...the Sidewinders team!>

"I'll be damned." Morgan says, patting you on the shoulder. Hard. "Dropping me down a hole? That's never happened to me or anyone I know in all my years."

"If it makes you feel any better, you're not the first one I've done this to." you say with a grin. He bursts into more laughter.

"Bah! What are you laughing about?" Lode grumbles as he comes over to check on his teammate. "We got whipped by a couple of youngsters."

"Be quiet, Lode!" Morgan barks. "There's always a time where someone gets beaten, and this time it was our turn." He looks at you. "That applies to you as well, boyo. You'll run into someone who can outsmart you. Don't start thinking you're invincible."

"Trust me, man, I had quite a wakeup call in that regards recently. Now let's get this guy out of here."

It takes the Gustave, the Gordos, and both you and Audrey to pull the heavy Mammoth out of the hole. You had to make it deeper than the one you sunk the Gordos in, do to it's more prominent legs. You finally manage, though, and Morgan and his bunch thank you.

"We'll have to save the pleasantries for another time." he tells you. "Right now we got to get our zoids back and fixed up. We usually hang out in Hayden, stop by sometime, we'll buy you a round."

With one last hearty handshake, they Get in their Gustav and head out. You do much the same, and head for home.

>What do?
>>
so i believe we can say good match and we should ask them out to drink afterwards no hard feelings after all (they are a good group).
>>
>>19132565
Treat the team to victory dinner. Invite the vanquished opponents in good taste, since we could probably pick up a few bits of advice from the old timer.
>>
>>19132596
>>19132571
This.

How much did we get from the fight by the way?

Did the upgrades for everything happen overnight or something?
>>
dose Audry live near here if so we could visit her. also we should make friends with team raptor there cool kids (plus if we play our cards right there parents may be able to kook us up with cool toys). also fix our zoids.
>>
>>19132596
See if we can't get the Zaber Fang pilot to give some lessons to Audrey.

We could give'em our mom's autograaaaaph.

Yes. I'm milking the fact that our mom is awesome.

Ew. Gross mental image.
>>
>>19132565
MOLGA STRONG. Take the team out for dinner, we just won a tough match, tell Eri that the det cord worked like a dream. We might want to call up our folks and see if they watched our fight, they probably enjoyed it.

>>19132633
You mean Sarah, Audrey lives with us, and it's a bit of a drive, not too out of the way but not close. I agree with broing it up with Team Raptor, I like Adam, he's crazy and fight obsessed but still a pretty cool guy. Anyone who starts a conversation with a boxing match has to be awesome.
>>
>>19132618
nah, Eri's dad is still working on everything. Priority on storage, since you need it. Should be finished up in a few days.

And speaking of:
>Prize money: 5,000
>Ammo: -1,000
>Repairs: -2,500
>Projected gain: 1,500
>Sidewinder rank: 87th

>You have Leveled Up!
>Audrey has Leveled Up!

How do you want to spend your ability points? Both you and Audrey got one each.
>>
>>19132668
I say we add one to our CRC and whats Audrey stats?

We should have like a copy pasta for our other teammates too.
>>
>>19132668
forgot Audrey's stats

Audrey:
Shelling: 3
CRC: 5
Maneuv.: 5
Affinity: 3
Traits
Unusual Reflexes:
Can make an evasion roll, even while attacking.
Fast learner:
Picks up new things at incredible speed.
>>
>>19132668
Maneuvering for us and shelling for Audrey.

We don't need no CQC if we can always keep our distance
>>
>>19132668
Screw CRC, Maneuver, we're going to be using Zoids other than Molga in the near future and we want to make full use of them. That or Affinity, we could use some luck after our Zoid froze.

>>19132683
She won't get anything out of another point in Maneuv at this juncture, I'd say CRC, get it to 6, the point where any upgrades after that take more, we'll focus on Shelling next.
>>
I say we should both add to maneuver. Don't get hit means that we don't have to repair stuff.
>>
>>19132683

I say we add one to her shelling.
>>
CRC for Audrey

and Shelling or Maneuver for Flynn
hmm, Maneuver!
>>

yes i did
what is Audrys stats
>>

affinity or shelling then? she doesn't need more maneuver with her current zoid

Manuever for Gerald and Shelling for Audrey?
>>
i say crc for her and affinity for us
>>
>>19132732
aye, unless we can spend our xp point on getting a new trait.
>>
>>19132732
agreed. affinity next level though
>>
>>19132732
Eh. We tend to use slow zoids, with low manuevers. So it'd be useless for us right now. I'd stick with CRC, with all the up close combat we do underground.
>>
but we cant use the maneuver right now the affinity is a;ways good
>>
The Redhorn even has a lower maneuverability then the molga. I'd say until we get another zoids with a higher maneuverability, we should wait.

We could atleast get CRC up to three along with our other stats. Marioing it up.
>>
we already exceed the red horns maneuver ability, so affinity and shelling then
>>
>>19132732
CRC for Audrey, that's her strength, if not, add it to her maneuver
>>
>>19132785
also i think Audry would do better to specialize than to be a Mario but ether way is fine for her
>>
>>19132818
the zaber fang has a lot of guns and she's at it's maneuver rating already, so shelling for audrey.
>>
>>19132811
Look at the updated stats, it's Man is 4 and we'll be using it a lot in the future. We used Molga here to pull off dirty tricks.

I'd prefer CRC for Audrey but I'm fine with shelling.
>>
>>19132834
I say we should Mario it up. Audrey can specialize.

(Nogram, is that you?)
>>
>>19132851
so it is, maneuver and shelling then.
>>
i have been voting affinity for Gerald but crc is also acceptable
>>
>>19132757
traits aren't purchased, they're set for each character, and unlocked as you progress.

Gerald's Maneuver is now 4, about average. You feel more confident with zoids that are more maneuverable. Like your Red Horn.

Audrey's Shelling is now 4, about average. She's as good a shot as Eri, at least.

You reach your base and unload the zoids. Eri sighs as she looks at the Zabre and Hound.
"This is becoming an unfortunate trend."

"That's how it goes." You say as you walk beside her. "Those guys were ridiculously out of their weight class to begin with, we're lucky getting away with this much.

"I guess." she sighs. "This is still going to be a lot of work."

"Nope, you aren't lifting a finger."

She looks at you, bewildered. "But-" you put a finger to her lips.

"You're taking a break. No buts." you say firmly. She slumps in defeat.

"Alright, fine. But these aren't fixing themselves."

"We'll worry about that later."

You can have you're victory dinner later, but you have some time.

>What do?
>>
shelling for Audrey, Affinity for Gerald
>>
>>19132853
nope never herd of him.
>>19132883
What?!
we were still debating? the manuver.
>>
>>19132883
If it makes you feel better think about their mechanic, they'll be scrubbing dirt out of the Mammoth for a solid week.

What to do, put on some music in the hanger bay and do some swing dancing or something along those lines. Our mother probably taught us how when we were young, she thought it'd be a good way for us to meet women.
>>
>>19132883
Red Horn repair and weapon tune up somewhat
Audrey Time
Spend some of those 800 Vince bucks on a nice bottle of bubbly to drink with Eri ontop of the Molga/Redhorn during sunset/moonlight travel guised as a test run of new repairs.
If we need to head into town for the bubbly, our new Sinker, from the couple we salvaged, should get us there quick enough
>>
>>19132853
nope, this is
>>19132818

fuck, really wanted maneuver for her, oh well
>>
>>19132943
She won't get any more mileage out of maneuver until she changes zoids or we somehow tune the Zaber to have 6 maneuver.
>>
get the others together, let them know how hard eri has been pushing herself and come up with a plan to fix the zoids
>>
i think the consensus is crc both ways
us to Mario her to specilize
>>
>>19132954
you want to raise our permanent stats based on our CURRENT zoids?

that's a novel concept for me, usually work the other way around?
>>
>>19132937
>>19132934
seconded
we should cook a big celebratory diner with Audrey. then hang out with her then tomorrow pamper out mechanic.
>>
>>19132999
The Zaber is a reasonably long term upgrade as far as I can tell, it's a damn solid choice. We'll get more ability points as we go on and both Shelling and CRC has large long term and short term benefits. You can't spend your entire time planning for the future, you miss the immediate present.
>>
>>19132999
.it is my understanding that both the zaber fang and the red horn/molga are the zouds we plan to use for the easily foreseeable future and thus a boost to maneuver will take a long time to matter but other things will benefit right now plus we can boost maneuver later in the long run i want to boost it just not till we can use the boost

so in short yes
as opposed to boosting a stat we cant use till later instead of waiting till then to boost it.

"Heh, yeah, you really did a number on HEY, what are you doing?" she says as you pull into the middle of the hanger.

"Making sure you relax." you say, pulling her close. She blushes a bit, as you start swinging back and forth. And tripping.

"You kind of suck at this." says the Amber haired girl, right as she steps on your foot.

"Why, hello, missus Pot, you can call me Kettle."

She giggles a bit. "So are you going to whisk me away for a candlelight dinner or something?"

"Some other time, I was thinking we could all go have nice dinner to celebrate, maybe invite the guys from Stone Age."

"They seem nice." She comments. "Well, except for that Lode guy, he's kinda mean."

"Yeah, a bit."

You keep dancing for a half hour or so, and then part after a long hug. She's gone to get ready for dinner.

You type in some commands on the video phone and head to the Red Horn. Flipping a switch inside the cockpit, you forward the call through the com system, and begin going over the Horn's systems.

["Hello."] comes your father's voice.

"Hey, dad," you greet, "you busy?"

["Nah,"] he says, sounding like he's poring a drink, ["was fixing to call you myself, actually."] He chuckles. ["Quite a show you put on earlier."]

"I take it you saw the battle then?"

["I did indeed. Nicely done. I would have just brought some bigger guns, but for what you had to work with, it was an ok trick."]

You roll your eyes. "Don't praise me too much, old man. Mom around?"

["Is she ever? And don't even think of asking, it took me 7 hours and a thousand credits hunting her up the other day."]

"Saved my life."

["You shouldn't have needed saving, you brat. But I guess it's nice to know my time and money amounted to something. What are ya' working on?"]

"My Red Horn. Still needs its secondary weapons replaced. I'm trying to use my personal funds for it."

["Attaboy."] he says with approval.

You bring up your many misadventures.
["You sure got a knack for finding trouble, kid."] he groans. ["I think I've heard of those guys that had the girl, but even I don't know what they're up to. I've actually been investigating them for a little while now, nothing's come up."]

["As for that zoid you saw in the water..."] he begins thoughtfully. ["My guess, if it wasn't some secret military project, the pirates guild is you best bet."]

You raise an eyebrow. "Pirates guild?"

["There's supposedly just a rumor, but my sources say they're anything but. Guylos renegades who tried to pull some resources together after the asteroids, and get their own tech research and what have you. Marauders and criminal types flocked to them, and they pretty much got their own faction started up."]

"Sounds a bit fantastical." you comment.

["After the sky rained hellfire, I'm willing to believe anything once."]

"Hey, Morgan, you guys make it back alright?"

"Of course." the older man boasts. "We got put through worse than that plenty of times. My Mammoth works just fine, dirt aside."

"How's about grabbing dinner with us tonight?"

"Hmm," the begins thoughtfully, "I'm all for it, Edge would probably be fine too. Lode's a poor sport though. He'd come with, but he'd kill the mood."

"Sorry to hear that. Would you go without him?"

"He'd complain even more if we did. I appreciate it, boyo, but now's a bad time. Even I'm feeling a bit sour."

Somehow you doubt this man gets sour about anything. "Alright, some other time then. Don't be a stranger."

"Aye, you take care, Gerald."

Casual but cozy

We're here to enjoy ourself not impress anyone. Some time later we'll take Eri out for a nice dinner at a high end and fancy place with the money Vince gave us, our special Eri related expense account. But given that this is Team Sidewinder we want somewhere cosy, casual and with delicious hearty food as the highest priority.
>>
>>19133603
Casual but cozy. I don't think we'd have that much fun in a high end place, and pizza joint is just....so teenage mutant turtles
>>
>>19133619
>>19133620
(Eri likes turtles..)

You meet the others after getting ready, Eri's wearing a rather nice dress, might have belonged to her mother. Audrey's wearing a simple sundress with matching slippers. Vince, Rick, and George opted to wear simpler clothes.

You ride in the Gustav and Sinker, since you lack any other comfortable transportation. Audrey decides to ride with Rick, while the rest of you get in the Gustav.

You decide to go to Cloverton, since it's larger than Hayden, and about the same distance. The Terminal doesn't have much in the ways of proper restaurants.

You find a nice place, and enjoy some high quality food. There's a place in the middle where a band and singer are performing, with room to dance.

"You made it interesting for me too." you say. "All of you, even your grumpy dad."

She laughs. "So how far are you wanting to take this?"

"I plan to stick with you guys for a while, maybe take a shot at the championship eventualy."

For a brief instant you think she's about to cry, but instead she smiles up at you. You both get closer and pull each other into a kiss.

You don't notice the music has stopped till the microphone hits the stage. You look up and meet an unfortunate sight. Maybe it was the lightning, or how her hair was done up. Whatever the reason, you didn't realize it till now.

Sarah just stands there, on stage, staring at you, a hollow expression on her face. One of the band members tries to get her attention. She just hastily excuses herself as she leaves the stage and heads out the back.

"Gerald?" Eri asks. "What's the matter?"

You look back down at Eri, trying to force a smile. "Nothing, thought I recognized someone."

Balls, we probably shouldn't have gone dancing with her. We tried to avoid this happening and place her as a friend but it didn't happen.

We're going to have to introduce countermeasure C: Throw Rick at her and have our Mom sign something for her.
>>
>>19133901
>>19133893
Oh its not like we became romantic with her. She had a tsundere crush on us, and while we might feel bad for not straight up telling her (even though I've posted several times, to do so) she knows now. And she'll feel hurt, yes. But if we can just talk to her (she'll shut us out of course) we'll be able to mend this little hiccup in our friendship.

And set her up with Rick or Vince.
>>
>>19133910
Countermeasure D: Have rick fuck mum and sign him, then give him to sara. That way she feels close to our mother and gets the hot hot dicking she so needs.
>>
>>19133893

Calm down gentlemen. This sucks, but it was necessary. Sarah will be upset at us for a while, and it will be awkward, but as long as we're persistent we can remain friends. I know as the gentlemen we are, we all feel bad about hurting Sarah, but stringing her along was only going to go badly, and we also can't stifle our relationship or hurt Eri for the purpose of keeping Sarah in the friend zone.

This is just one of those things that happen in life. Let's pay attention to Eri and make sure she has a good night at least. Going after Sarah at this juncture would only end badly for all of us. Give her a couple days and ring her or show up and drag her on a mission with us.
>>
>>19133923
It isn't world ending but there will be some fallout we have to clean up. Also Vince is older than us and Sarah is 18, it might be iffy.

I'm for being honest with all parties involved, not trying to hide it from anyone and we ought to be able to fix it, Sarah isn't a delicate flower who'll completely fall apart because of this.

Give Sarah a few days to think about it and then drag her on a mission or something like that, make her and Rick work together in the interests of "tactics", or just shove the two of them on a mission together.
>>
>>19133940
Isnt sarah 16 or something anyway?

fuck, i knew we should gone for the other girl first

>>
>>19133952

Sarah is 19 and Eri is around our age. Also, we had our age reduced to 23-24 I believe.

As for the rest:

Dunno about forcing Sarah and Rick together just yet. They both have their issues we need to help them, and a relationship at this point probably isn't the smartest idea at the moment. Once they've both handled their insecurities and are more confident, we can try hooking them up and by that time we should have a more secure relationship with Eri as well.

>>19133984
God damnit man, now I can't go to bed cause I'm laughing too much
>>
>>19133969
Hmm, I agree on not rushing them together but given that Sarah was the one who gave Rick a kick in the pants they are pretty well suited to helping each other.

We'll help where we can, the main thing for Rick is to make him realize that he's rather fucking competent at flying. By the way could we get Ricks stats?

Sarah is a bit heart broken but if we don't massively cock it up it'll fade and we ought to be able to be friends again.

Both of these major problems can be helped by doing missions, dragging them along kicking and screaming if necessary and making bank while doing so.

>>19133984
Bandit Hater could see use, and Sandwise could help us set up on foot ambushes, survive in the desert and find the perfect spot on a beach to set up an umbrella. Speaking of Bandit Hater we should get some research done on the local bandit population and wipe them the fuck out.
>>
>>19133984
God damn it, why am I not a Molga, when things get awkward in a Zoid related matter I can just burrow. Why can't I dive in real life, it'd be a big help.
>>
>>19133991
Think thats funny? Now, in this situation, it would have been perfect to be a molga.

>Sarah sees Gerald and Eri kiss.

>Gerald looks up.

>Activates cloak
>>
>>19133999

Nothing good ever comes from burrowing away from problems my friend. The thing that makes us Molga strong is that when it comes down to it, we don't run and we throw down. Only use borrowing to aid us in going forward, for that is the way of swagger and justice.
>>
>>19134015
I'm just imagining him seeing Sarah, his eyes widening and him trying to turn invisible and madly clawing at the floor trying to escape below. All while screaming "why isn't my life like a zoid fight, WHYYYY?"

>>19134017
It would be a tactical retreat.

Then we'd drop a building on her, cause a cave in, explode a pit trap under her.

Fuck, our normal methods aren't quite working here.
>>
>>19134015
Huh.

Could we have a personal cloak? That would be sweet. We'd be able to pull off stunts, like climbing up that zoid and taking it, like last time.

Gwen is so going to be at the hangar when we get back. That is when we must SANDWISE, and GET TO DA MOLGA before our spine is snapped from a motherly power hug. And humiliates us with stories from when she was training us.

I remember how nobody was very surprised when the possinility thAt her training us was her chasing our scrawny ass in a zoid, when some one brought it up last thread
>>
>>19134045
>That someone was me.

>Still in my headcanon

Really it was inspired by TTGL's scene, where Kamina is throwing boulders at Simon.
>>
>>19134045
It fits, it fits so well. She would chase us down, with her Zaber leaving us a slingshot as protection. That's why we're Sandwise, we learned to hide from it in the desert. Once we stayed out for a few weeks hiding from our mother, fortunately we remembered to bring copper tubing, we came back having gained weight and drunk off of cactus juice we fermented and distilled using the copper tubing to make a still.
>>
>>19134051
Haha, I just started watching that yesterday.

We need to find a Kamina esque person to lead our team.
>>
>>19134058
"Oi. Wasn't that boy suppose to find that oasis?"

"I figured he would. This is much better though. Quick, get the camera."

"Mooom, I wanna party in the you-es-aye!"
>>
>>19134051
Our father is a crazy mercinary, and our mother is an even crazier mercinary.

TTGL inspired headcanon is goimg to be reasonably close, as that much crazy could be Anything
>>
>>19134061
I thought we we're the Kamina-esque person.

Only a little more subtle. We inspired Audrey to overcome her fear of the water (we should remind her that she's soo brave)
>>
>>19134084
No point in being Kamina esque if you're gonna be subtle.

But we did kinda tell Audrey that its ok for her to be afriad, believe in us who believes in you!

Your feet will be the feet to pierce the seas!
>>
So what does Gerald sound like?

I hear Steve Blum.

>SHOW TIME. BIG MO...LGA!
>>
>>19134073
We got one victory on her Zaber, just one. We spent a month digging the perfect pit trap in the desert in complete secret. It was a work of art, we lured her into it, it was the luckiest moment of our life that she didn't notice. Then we pinged her cockpit with our slingshot and ran off into the desert laughing like a madman. Heading to the still we set up in the desert to keep our old man from raiding our cactus rum.

>>19134084
Subtle and Kamina don't go together that well.

We're extremely pragmatic in combat and a sneaky git to boot. We're good with our team mates and inspire them to new heights but we're not Kamina.
>>
>>19134105
Thankyou so very much, from the bottom of my heart. You managed to turn what was a pretty one dimensional character (Our parents) into people I thoroughly enjoy.

I want your babies
>>
>>19134105
We where weened off of our cactus addiction by a lovely lass named Bonny. Her dad worked for our dad and she would often visit us, and we would be forced to go into town with her, by our mother.

One day, we refused to go and decided to get some cactus juice. She went ahead without us.

Bandits attacked the town.

We found her later. A single bullet through our Bonny's face, breaking that sweet smile of her's. We took our mother's Zaber Fang. Found those bastards and destroyed them.

We haven't touched a drop of cacti since.
>>
>>19134136
We still have dreams about Bonny and that delicious cactus brew...

Trait Gained:
Homebrewer: You are particularly adept at brewing any sort of liquid into potent alcohol, given enough time.
>>
>>19134143
Love how we're rewarded for our tomfoolery.
>>
>>19134153
Oi. Don't do that. It's like four in the morning.

Still.

Funny.
>>
>>19134148
>Implying I'm the real Zoid Mother
>>
>>19134122
I try my best. My baseline images of the parents so far.

Our Mother probably wants us to become as good or better pilot than her, but she wants us to do it ourself. She gave us one handout, the Molga, and has bailed our ass out once in the quest and is unlikely to save us often. How we fight is rather different, she's much more direct and flashy. She's loving as all hell but teases us to no end.

Our Father is probably a lot like us in combat philosophy, use whatever works. He's a bit of a grump, the calmer of the two parents and the times we have fucked up he has made us fix it right then and there, then considered the matter settled.

>>19134136
After we killed them, not a single one of them left alive, their zoids torn apart and pretty much mounted on pikes. We probably just sat in our little shelter in the desert for a few days staring blankly with a broken still surrounding us. It took a bit for our parents to find us, it was a very bad month for Gerald.
>>
So. I suppose the biggest question on everyone's mind is...

Zoid Mother, an actual mother or is Zoid Mother, just a dude, with an odd name? Because I keep picturing a motherly type of person. Name is rather misleading for my mental image.
>>
>>19134172
I'll be your mother cutey
>>
>>19134171
'Mom didn't even bother yelling at me. Just sort of...looked at me for a moment, and then just gave me a hug. I wish she would have gotten mad. Shout at me for taking her Zaber Fang. Shout at me for not going with Bonny. Hell even shout at me for not quitting the brew sooner. Because right now, I can't stand the quiet. Can't even drink my sorrows away. Bonny would be disappointed in me. And I can't let her down. Not again. '

>Don't ask my why I chose the name Bonny. I just thought 'Bonny Lass, sounds Irish. Irish drink. Cactus Juice is probably alcoholic.'
>>
>>19134185
I'm horrifying.

I make people run screaming. Nothing about me is cute. You know that forever alone image? I make that guy look good.
>>
>>19134185
Stop impersonating. It's a dick move.
>>
>>19134211
Afterwards, we took the molga and left the village behind.

Bonny's dad let us stay for the funeral. Big man, but with a heart of gold. Our first real zoid battle had been in his Bear Fighter. He lent it to us, to have a test match against pops. Mom wanted a try, but Buck didn't want her totaling it.

He became a different man after Bonny died. Never left his house, except for work. His wife, however did the opposite, and threw herself into life. Did everything, became a surrogate mother to all those kids who lost their parents in the bandit attacks. Guess she needed something to fill the void.

Buck and Jane never blamed us for Bonny's death. But the last time, we saw them, for a moment we could see them asking 'why weren't you with her?'. Maybe thats why we never turned back.
>>
>>19134211
We're probably willing to drink at this point, but not to excess and never cactus. We never touch cactus anymore. At least we got revenge.

Cactus Juice from the Opuntia, or the paddle cactus has been used to make alcohol for thousands of years. It isn't alcoholic fresh, it is however a damn good food source.

To make it alcoholic take the prickly pear, peel it, open it up, crush the fruit for the juice, boil it for a few hours and let it ferment for a couple days and you get a sweet fizzy alcoholic drink. With the still and some more complex procedures you can make Bajtra which is similar to a watermelon liquor and Tungi Spirit which is like Vodka crossed with tequila with a fruitier flavor.
>>
>>19134318
Oh yeah, the standard easy to make sweet fizzy drink is called Colonche. I can't believe I forgot to mention that.
>>
>>19134312
Became a mercenary. Bandits tried to recruit us. We showed them what it meant to be 'Molga Strong'. The law enforcement, came to love us. We didn't do it for them. We did it for her.

Huh. The molga had been Bonny's favorite, hadn't it? She loved caterpillers, and how they would turn into butterflies. She had hoped one day, that the Molga would become a butterfly too. We knew it was a dream that would never be realized, but we let her have it. The molga won't ever fly, but maybe it can reach the sky some other way.
>>
>>19134343
Oh god, I so hope the real Zoid Mother is reading this. This is so fucking cannon in my head now its not funny.
>>
>>19134211
We probably got the scar killing them all, maybe when we got out of the Zaber after wiping out the Zoids to finish off the leader who was hiding in a building. He got a knife swing in before we filled him with lead.
>>
>>19134359
I'm just typing away right now.

I enjoy filling in back story. Nothing outrageous, but I figure since I started the whole 'Mom attacked us with the zoid' bit, I should keep it up.
>>

"Fight me!" Gerald seethed. The Zaber Fang, roared as if connected to his anger. Crushing the smaller zoids. "I said, fight me you bastards!" He shouted, the comms blaring his voice. "You killed an innocent girl! What is it like, to fight someone your own size?" The Zaber Fang stamped down on an escaping sandspeeda. Grabbing his rifle, he got out of the cockpit. He wanted to do this personally.

"Fucking cocky brat." Blood soaked the bandit leader's shirt. Shrapnel had got his arm and now he wouldn't stop bleeding. At least the fang had stopped attacking. But all his men were done for and so where their equipment. Damn it, he knew he shouldn't have attacked that village! Why did he listen to that guy in the Iron Kong?

"You. Your the one responsible for all this!"

"The fuck? You just some brat?" Eyeing the gun, the bandit leader tightened the cloth around his arm. "Put the pea-shooter away kid and we ca-" A shot rang out. The bullet had shot into one of his cronies who had tried to sneak up on the kid.

"I've trained with this rifle, for most of my life. I've fought zoids, with nothing but a fucking sling shot and copper tubing. And you murdered the girl I loved." Those last words, felt fresh on his lips. Unused to saying them before and perhaps hoping to never say them again.

"Look punk. People die, and shit. You got me. I'll go to prison." He edged closer, with his hands up. If he got close enough, he could get that gun away and maybe take that Zaber Fang. The thing was worth more then the entire camp was anyway.
>>
>>19134447

"Don't you fucking lecture me! Stop moving!"

"Or what? You'll shoot me? No. Your not the type of guy. You came all the way out here, to make me suffer, right? Make me bleed on the sand. Watch my guts spill out. At the end of the day. Your no better then, me!" Whipping out a blade, Gerald felt it slice into him. At first the blade felt cold, before hot blood quickly rushed to the wound. A bark of the rifle, and the leader was down.

"I am nothing like you." The bandit's last sight was seeing the gun raised to his temple. Right where he had shot that little bitch who had attacked him at the village.

Bang.
>>
>>19134426
The reason why he is so together right now is because it's probably been at least 4 years since then, maybe more if he was under 20 when he became a mercenary. It still haunts him sometimes but he has it more or less under control, killing the entire bandit camp helped, not much but it was far better than not getting them.

He hasn't dated since, at least not in anything resembling seriousness until Eri. He just quit being a Merc and is trying to move on a little bit.
>>
>>19134447

"There are times when you just get so angry you feel as if your entire body was going to explode? Well, When I saw her body... I knew that feeling."

"My blood felt like hellfire, I wanted to crush that piece of shit, stop him into meat paste, the look of fear in his eyes when I shot his knee caps off, call me sick but I enjoyed it. I wanted to make him hurt more to let the bastard have a taste of the fear bonnie had felt before dying."

Gerald Deflynn

Behind his happy exterior, lies a man haunted by a ghost. A ghost of someone he couldn't save. He runs from his past for a new tomorrow, but in the end everything catches up to you eventually. Maybe, just maybe he can make it across that finish line before it does.
>>
>>19134478
Eri,, I am not always a nice person. I'm a good person but I am not necessarily a nice one.

I have killed, I have shot bandits right in the face and murdered them in cold blood as they begged for mercy. They received just as much as they gave.

I do not regret it in the least, if you put a gun in my hand and someone who hurts the innocent in front of me, you wouldn't have the time to ask if I'd do it again before I splattered their brains on the wall.
>>
Damn, Gerald has had a pretty dark past couple years. It explains why he is pumping so much into security and god help anyone who touches Audrey or Eri.

He probably didn't kill every single bandit we ran across, the ones who just hit caravans and the like might have lived, we weren't going out of our way to spare them but if they lived they went to jail. Any who touched women, children or settlements of civilians would be killed.
>>
>>19134557
It's something we'd hide from Audrey and Eri, broadcasting a pg version of ourselves.

Really it only comes out in the heat of the moment. Like when Sarah was attacked by the redhorn.

"Hey...Gerald, you ever wondered? Can Molga's change?" Bonny asked a sand covered and bruised Gerald who was looking at what would be his future hand me down zoid.

Gerald resisted the urge to laugh at such a question, then again he knew that she loved caterpillars, due to the fact that they changed into butterfly's and even though after the meteor's fell some life forms became extinct, life continued including butterfly's.

"I don't know Bon-Bon" Gerald grunted out as he crossed his arms only to see her touching the side of that zoid. It looked as if she could speak directly to the core.

"I think... one day this molga will become something beautiful... Gerald? Can you teach me how to pilot a molga?" Bonny asked while giving that same smile

"Sure Bon-Bon...Sure" Came out of Gerald's mouth... as soon as he could get the damn zoid in the first place.
>>
>>19134600

And that's the last bit of impromptu writefagging/potential image for long gone love interest.

Let's keep this thread alive for as long as possible, hell perhaps make a Zoids Quest OOC Chatter thread soon?
>>
>>19134592
When Eri gives us the full details on what happened we might just take a vacation. And by vacation we call up our Dad, devote all of his and our resources to tracking them down and they are left as smoking rubble. We never speak of the event and nobody asks.
>>
I s'pose I'll continue brain storming on friends and family of Gerald that'll fit into the story. Or write out more stories, before the bandits struck the town.

I'm growing to like Bonnie.
>>
>>19134600
Gerald will always miss her, her death drove him to spend 5 years as a mercenary. Taking every job that involved protecting caravans against bandits, hunting them down and even spending all of his free time finding them and killing them. He didn't want anybody else to lose someone like her, to lose someone they were too stupid to protect, someone they never told they loved even though she knew it.

Even after that long, whenever the scar ached he remembered her, or maybe whenever he remembered her the scar ached. After all the bandits he's killed and imprisoned it still hurt.

Dad's mercenary company dried up and he went into mining. So Gerald decided to join the ZBF, after the test he saw an ecstatic girl, and for half a second he saw Bonny's face, it looked like she was forgiving him.
>>
>>19134835
>saw bonny's face

Oh man, we're insane aren't we? Plagued by the death of a loved one we went super beserk on a tonne of bandits.
>>
>>19134844
Not insane, more along the lines that some part of him said it was ok to move on, to accept that part of his life and not live in the past. I don't think he constantly saw her face in places before that, though he may have had nightmares for the first year about her death.

He has it under control and got most of it out of our system in those 5 years. He isn't going to forget her but he's accepted her loss by now.
