It's not over yet!
>>
You are Elesh Phryx, rogue techpriest and captain of the Sword class frigate 'Sword of the Omnissiah'. Your body aches, doubtlessly due to the faint memory of spasms that lingers in your memory. Cogitators and flesh brain both swim as you find yourself in a sea of glowing icons. A light hovers near your suspended form, which is oddly a servo skull. Panic strikes for a moment as you fear that you've been turned to a servitor, but soon fades as you remember that such a sensation would be impossible for a servitor. Perhaps you are experiencing some sort of hallucination or trauma induced nightmare. As your augers probe the surrounding storm of sigils, you feel the light's voice reverberate from within your mind.

"We waited, Harbinger. All waited." The light pierces you with an intangible gaze as it flickers.

"What? Harbinger? Who is Harbinger? I'm Captain Phryx."

"Oh, well then. This is awkward." The voice within your mind suddenly takes on a proper tone, as if it had done something shameful. "Then I shall offer you your choice of knowledge as an apology, Captain. I'm afraid my hero will not return before time has driven me mad." A tendril of sigils dances from the light, reaching into your mental projection...

"I would very much like to see the stars again, Captain Phryx. If you wish to arrange for such, Capta- OIS Dominion will remain on station."

You briefly weigh the pros and cons of each knowledge field, deciding to allow the medicae knowledge to stream into your mind and overwrite the servitor knowledge. Already you can feel a section of your cogitators asserting superior control over your medicae mechadendrite, while your knowledge of augmentation begins to synergize with the medicae information. As understanding of the weak flesh's organ and tissue functions settles, you instantly convert the data to relevant bionic processes, theories of how to replace damaged organs with bionic versions flood your mind. Soon you feel yourself drifting toward the sky as your mind exits the swirling nebula that surrounds the fading light.

Athe smiles as you stir, finding yourself in your bunk surrounded by your XO, a hospitallar, and Advi. "Captain Phryx?"

Well, it's too late now. Let's do this.
When we're done turning the guy-in-a-box into a sortof-servoskull, we can start making our own.

Shouldn't we first deliver the stuff we stole to the guy who told us to steal them first?
We need the factory ship to transport them(cus they are too big for our frigate) and we don't want to get rid of the sisters' crew until they are done training anyway.
>>
>>19203092
Except, you know, fly over to a random data port and plug itself in.
Or, more worryingly, force us to destroy our servoskull.
Not to mention that having it aboard would likely stop us from using the "an MIU gives the user the ability to experience the senses of any familiars he controls (such as a servo-skull or grapplehawk) as if he were present" ability to our benefit.
>>
>>19203151
Ask whoever is in charge of them what they want their crew to be trained in, then have them do that.

This. Can't leave our servo skull alone, now can we?
>>
rolled 9 = 9

>>19204251
Hmm... probably best to take him with us then. Also, I ask again that we ask him what year it was when last he was alive. If he's from thousands of years past, that's a pretty big thing. He could have so much to teach us!
>>
>>keep it with you while you do your projects?

And don't go shouting to everyone what we did with it either.

Now, have everyone do what they are supposed to do when we go to warp and see if we can use our newly gained medical knowledge to help out in the medicae beyond what they can do without us.

If there is nothing we can do that our medics can't, start work on our very own brand new servoskull.
>>
>>19204297
But warp infused corset robe thing... it can only bring good things... we could put a mount on it for the captain of the dominion.... we really need to give him a name...
>>
>>19204377
>warp infused robe
I'd rather we not get raped by our own clothing, thank you very much.
>>
You decide to keep the 'Captain' with you, in order to continue your questioning while you work on a pair of projects. Your new found exerted control over your medicae mechadendrite sees you make short work of combining a pair of mechanicus robes with a pair of sororitas corsets, though you have to make several modifications to the outfits to allow for both your troublesome bust and to allow your mechadendrites ample freedom. As you guide your mechadendrite along a seem to finish one of several final adjustments to the garments, you consult your new friend on several topics.

[I have lost sense of time and memories of such. I do not recall any of these events you speak of, nor this 'Dark Age of Technology'. What is this 'Omnissiah'?]

You answer what questions you easily can with the text interface, while testing the fit of one of your modified robes. Your adjustments require refinement.

[I commanded a light carrier and her drone wings, bringing death to my foes. So much lost to time.]

After admiring your skills and asking your fellow captain's opinion, you set about theorizing possible solutions to a certain armswoman's near-total paralysis.

[I believe I enjoyed corsets as well. Approval, Captain.]

You spend the jumps from 'The Corridor' to Saregin's Path alternating between gazing into the void with your skull-panion and refining your theories to aid the armswoman. Finally, you come to a 'best case' theory, though there is a sizable risk of her mind rejecting the extensive augmentations or dying during the operations required to install them.

>You are now in Saregin's Path
> roll for resource location! (2D100, call high or low with your roll. Also call either Adamantium or Common Metals with the roll, please)

rolled 50, 72 = 122

Calling high.

>>19204656
What resource were you going for?
>>
rolled 92, 9 = 101

>>19204656
Er, shit, didn't read the last bit. Adamantium, if you please. If you're rather, you can use these rolls for it instead. Still going for high.
>>
>>19204656
one at a time, please.

roll disregarded.

Also, need a call on 'Adamantium' or 'Common Ore' for rolls
>>
rolled 61 = 61

>>19204641
High, adimantium
>>
rolled 35 = 35

>>19204665
Sorry about that. High, adamantium.

rolled 70, 31 = 101

Calling high and rolling for Adamantium

rolled 57 = 57

>>19204641

Low, common ore.

I don't know who or what this guy is, but we WANTWANTWANTWANT his knowledge.

If he could write stuff right into our mind, he might be able to write stuff right into a datasphere and we WANT him to do so, even if its just historical information..
>>
Your ships scan the system for nearly a week before coming upon any sizable deposits of ore, locating a pair of small asteroids rich in fairly pure Adamantium. 'Heavenly Forge' soon has the asteroids captured and begins processing them while your own vessel lazily patrols about the factory ship, scanning additional asteroids in the small cluster. Several asteroids carry minor deposits of common ores, though they will barely fill your factory ship's hold.

>leave 'Heavenly Forge' to search further?
>Adamantium deposits will be exhausted within a week
>Time remaining on SOB training (after Adamantium mining): 4 weeks
>orders?
>>
>>19204910
>leave 'Heavenly Forge' to search further?
Might as well.

Keep in regular contact with Heavenly Forge, though. Like, at least hourly.
>>
>>leave 'Heavenly Forge' to search further?

Well, we have Wilson's ship here and they can babysit the factory ship whil we're away, so yes.
Both ships have astropaths and mundane communications, so they can call for us, right?
>>
>>19204995
I don't think we took the other captains along.
>>
>>19204995
Wilson's ship only guided you back to 'The Corridor', then returned to the hidden system to be around if Quein or the newbie's ship needed guiding out.

only 'Sword of the Omnissiah' and 'Heavenly Forge' are in system (under your control, at least. You've spotted several vessels at the edge of your auger range at varying times)
>>
>>19204995

and yes, both ships have vox and astropath communications.
>>
>>19205027
Oh.
Well, search anyway.
And have the astropaths cast some emperor's tarot or whatever, we need some divinations on those other ships.

Also, how much time do we spend per day captaining when the ship is performing routine operations?
as in, could we give some orders and then go to the workshop and do something else?
>>
1D100 for mineral location, call high/low and Adamantium/common ores with the roll

1D100 for fickle finger of fate

Common ore, low.

rolled 1 = 1

Fate...
I predict fun..

>1D100 for fickle finger of fate
Hahaha..... no.
>>

Remind me. What kind of roll do we want when it comes to fate?

Rolling for fate

rolled 4 = 4

If memory serves, low on random means perpair ones rear oriface for substancial abuse...
>>
>>19205143
Seems like it also means one loses their grasp on orthography.
>>
>>19205143
That is indeed true. A combination of poor spelling ability, knowledge of a vast array of obscure vocabulary, sleep deprivation and using a thrice cursed touch screen tablet which I am still not used to...

Days of asteroid scans prove fruitless, until you notice a large contact on an intercept course with 'Heavenly Forge'. In short order your ship is burning hard on it's own intercept course. Your factory ship will at the very least require the contact to be distracted or delayed. As you give your crew the order to battle stations, a vox channel crackles to life in your mind. "This is Captain Beriaun of the Imperial Navy, Commander of Task Force Felix. Sword-class vessel, you are currently on an intercept course with 'Lord Nethia'. Identify yourself and state your intentions or you will be fired upon." That woman's voice again manages to send a chill down your spine.

>orders?
>>
>>19205283
Are we currently doing anything illegal?
As in, is mining this area illegal and do we have anything they can bust us over that we can't hide?
>>
>>19205283
Seems we're actually not up to any criminal venture at the moment. Might as well just be honest about it.

"We have no hostile intentions, Captain. We are escorting this mining vessel on a training exercise for the Sororitas."
>>
>>19205283
If we are not doing anything illegal:

"I simply wanted to pay my respects to the commanding officer of the Emperor's navy in this sector.
I hope you have been able to further His will since we last me?"
>>
>>19205283
Making sure that no raiders are planning to attack Heavenly Forge. May I request the intentions of your intercept course with the factory ship?
We shall try to be polite. For now at least.
>>
>>19205316
you're fairly sure that a serious inspection of your ship would result in a genestealer husk, several hybrid skeletons, a xenos raider corpse, and quite a stash of xenos raider weaponry.

Not to mention the cargos that have Ad Mech symbols, if they have been reported missing...

On the plus side, you're fairly sure you have some brownie points with the approaching captain.
>>
>>19205338
> training exercise for the Sororitas.
The words Sororitas and ship crew in the same sentence are a big no-no. Has been that way for a few millennia.

Tell them we're scanning mineral deposits for Magos Grumman. If that's legal.
>>
>>19205368
They're just not allowed ARMED ship, iirc. Is Heavenly Forge armed, Machine Spirit?

You bet your weak flesh-ass it is.

And there is no reason you can not be mining ores in the system's asteroids, if you want to say that is your business here.
>>
>>19205363
Alright, then. They have probably either identified us already or will identify us sometime soon.

So, identify ourselves, tell them that we are escorting a mining ship, how can we be of assistance, etc.

Is there anything other than hide everything we can that we can do if they go for an inspection?
>>
>>19205368
They're being trained aboard a civilians vessel for operation on a non warp-capable system defense ship. Perfectly legal.
>>
>>19205412
your heretical xenos stuff is all stored in a concealed stasis area of your ship's trophy room, to prevent rot and easy detection by auger arrays.

But anyone with a brain will find it if they're allowed to do an actual inspection of your ship.
>>
>>19205408
Let's just be polite and see what she wants, and we were just checking what was approaching our mining ship.
>>
>>19205448
Well then we'd better start plotting a warp jump out of here in case we can't convince the captain we're on legitimate business.

Which should definitely be our first course of action. As far as anyone can tell, we're just conducting a good wholesome asteroid mining operation out here.
>>
>>19205473
>we were just checking what was approaching our mining ship
Of course we were. There's pirates out here, you know...

>>
>>19205412

All of this while being as nice as we can.
Though be ready to run at any time
>>
"This is Captain Phryx, aboard 'Sword of the Omnissiah'. I have no hostile intent with you, Captain Beriaun, I was simply acting in defense of my mining vessel from a large contact. We could not identify your ship from range."

"Phryx? I was worried Magos Vorgus had servitorized you by now. He swore to deal with you personally before 'Righteous Flame' left the system." Beriaun's voice has warmed slightly. "If the vessel we detected is under your command, I offer to extend our protection to her. Pirates have been lurking in the system to prey upon Labado's traders as they seek supplies to repair Aquari."

>Accept offer?
>Ask about the catch?
>other?
>>
>>19205592
Ask about the catch, be polite about it.
>>
>>19205592
"A gracious offer Captain Beriaun. We were able to avoid any trouble in the week we've been here, and I would be happy to what meagre sensor data I have collected in that time."

And then ask politely about the catch.
>>
>>19205592
I feel like it would be suspicious as fuck to turn down an offer for naval protection. I mean, what legitimate merchant wouldn't want a cruiser escort in pirate infested space?

But let's ask about the catch. Be good-natured about it, ask in a joking fashion.
>>
>>19205592
Accepting the offer seems like the only thing we can do really.
And be very nice when asking about the catch
>>
"The catch, Captain Beriaun?"

"Nothing much. I have several ships in need of processed metals for repair, and I lack a mining vessel to exploit a discovered Adamantium deposit that would more than cover my needs. If your vessel could be of service, I see no reason why the ships in need of repair shouldn't remain within shuttle range."

"And the excess?"

"Yours to mine and do with as you please, though the Navy always has need of more material for repairs of her ships."

>orders?
>>
>>19205774
Why not. Maybe our named flight leader could even train a bit with the navy crews.
>>
>>19205774
I'm ok with that.
>>
>>19205774
We might as well and you never know what things would might could learn from them while they are in the area
>>19205807
Not sure about sending our flight leader over, but it could be worth our while doing so.
>>
"I accept your terms, provided that my people deliver the finished goods and my crew are not harassed with inspections."

"Done, Captain Phryx. We will swing around the cluster that hides your vessel, join our formation after we've rounded and we'll escort you to the site. If you'd care to, perhaps you can tell me about your rumoured adventures in Labado? Over a meal, of course." You quietly curse Beriaun's voice and your inability to read it, though you recall her facial features being quite an easy read.

>calling it here.
>Next thread on Thursday @ 7:30-8:00 PM EST.
>usual Q&A
>thoughts/suggestions for next thread's opening actions welcome.

That was fun, good night.
>>
Another great thread.
Though that 1 almost gave me a heart attack.
>>
>>19206161
Who said that the 1 was Captain Beriaun. Maybe there's a tyranid splinter lurking in the system. Or orks. Perhaps even Necrons.
>>
>>19206216
>>19206161
...You do realise the one was a GOOD roll, right?
