It seems that avalanche has passed, you'll only need to clear your way through the snow, but that shouldn't be a problem, given some time.

Before you leave Targos, one of the marines that was quite often accused of almost heretical curiosity, approaches you:
>Sir, we have uncovered only the tip of the iceberg here. I think, that we should explore this temple more. Please let me stay here and protect this site, it might hold something of value for the Chapter.

What do you do?
>>
>>19385261

"Targos, you can guard the relic, but don't touch it until prinium comes, also we need to look for Harmantos, Ectus, form a search party and contact the Heavy Cruiser, bring more men down, I will go to the LOrd Regent palace"
>>
>>19385261
Let him stay, we will complete the pilgrimage and then we can send some techmarines here in a thunderhawk
>>
>>19385308
Ectus nods his head:
>Yes, Master Don. And... Did I do well, sir? Is my shame washed away?

Brother Sulix reports, that he has contacted 'Aspera Dominus' and that transports will soon be here.
>>
>>19385338

"Ectus my son, you are forgiven, but do not forget, for it is a heresy"

"prinium, do you copy? we need an investigation down here, and Targos is being too excited, you don't want him to be too excited"
>>
>>19385337
>>19385338
So do you want to continue pilgrimage on foot or use transports? Technically, you've completed it, but...

Since brother Sulix has already contacted Brethorius, you know, that mysterious power surge was felt everywhere on the planet... roll d100.
>>
>>19385391
Under normal circumstances I would say lets proceed on foot to complete the rite, but after recent events I believe we will be needed to sort out any mess this might have caused.
Proceed with Evac
>>
rolled 5 = 5

>>19385391

i will roll it by foot because

>what could probably go wrong
>>
>Yes, Master Don. And... Did I do well, sir? Is my shame washed away?

Yes, brother, you have restored your honour.

>Brother Sulix reports, that he has contacted 'Aspera Dominus' and that transports will soon be here.
Good, itme to make our way back
>>
>>19385435
It seems that your Techmarines managed to secure all of your ships machine spirits just in time so that they wouldn't be damaged by the power surge, you are very lucky, because population of Mormark suffered some serious accidents, especially in their mining industry... Casualties are being estimated in thousands.

>>19385436
Ectus smiles and seems to feel a lot better now.

Your transports take you back into Kanihirium as quickly as possible. Kerius Dermont meets you as soon as you land near his palace.
> Chapter Master, I am glad you came. It is a very strange bussiness with that Beacon of Faith... Our priests are trying to figure out how to interpret what has happened when you lit it. Maybe you can tell us more? We are not sure what to think...
>>
>>19385496

"Our techpriests has sent to investigate, we also want to know what happened"

"Ectus, have you locate Harmantos?"
>>
rolled 70 = 70

>>19385526
Message from Ectus is as follows:
>Sir, we searched the site of the battle and we are sure, that his body is not there. We might try going down into the caves or scouting ice wastes with our landspeeders. Would you like us to do that?
(roll d100 for search party)

Kerius:
>Our techno mages reported that they detected a powerful surge of energy from the site of ancient temple. It went on all frequences, so we are not really sure what it was, some speculate that it was just some sort of bizzare communications that were left by the Ancients, but it might have been something more... Our scholars are trying to decipher original legends that were written in Proto-Gothic, langugage that first colonists spoke before the Age of Imperium, maybe it will give us some clue. Do you have by any chance men of science with you who know about the old days?
>>
rolled 42 = 42

>>19385594

"bring 40 men with 2 heavy bolter Ectus, those warp cursed monkeys might still lurk there"

as for the tech parts, i leave it to other players
>>
Recommend we send the tech-priests from nestorium, with two full squads of guards and a land-speeder to hunt the ice-dragon-things. should make it easy enough to clear the space out and investigate it while boosting our ties to nestorium.

Don should take some more troops and go to the ice caves, we must find our missing brother
>>
>>19385594

>Sir, we searched the site of the battle and we are sure, that his body is not there. We might try going down into the caves or scouting ice wastes with our landspeeders. Would you like us to do that?

Do everything you can to find our brother, but make sure to keep your distance from any local wildlife, in the event of anything happening, disengage and pull back immediately.

Techpriests from Nestorium have just arrived to the system on Escort "Doctor Mirabilis". However their specialists are mostly builders and architects, so they won't be able to help you much with the temple(unless you want to build your monastery on top of it/incorporate it).

>>19385538
Meanwhile, back on the ship, brother Klementhos approaches Pacinos while he is cleaning his melta gun, grins and asks him:
> Brother, have you never noticed, that you name is derived from High Gothic 'Pax' meaning 'peace'?
>>
>>19385714
Tercius and Kay join report back to their leader, Sergeant Atropos:
>Sir, we escorted Don just as you ordered as to, your training proved very valuable. What are our next orders?
>>
>>19385778

"Good to see a family survives, Harmantos, lets go back and throw a feast just for you!"

can we appoint him to sergeant?

> Hail to you brother! yes, my Ma' ain't fond of my Pa' who always out in the regiment, so she give me a name that will find me in peace, its a local dialect, oh and your name means "refreshing candy" in our dialect, just saying
>>
"Your survival is amazing, and fortuitous brother Harmontus. We should bring you to the apothecarion- to see that these beasts have not inflicted any taint upon you."

I encourage building our monastery on the temple- but I also suggest that we don't put up a reliquary or gene-seed repository until we understand the old fortress better. Send word to Nestorium that there are ancient ruins we would like them to see. Mention that we intend this to be our monastery (the implied trust taht we are showing them our future home would be a major thing).
>>
>>19385811
Klementhos frowns.
>Well, I am here regarding something more than your name. Could you please take care of something for me? My duties hold me at the ship, but I need someone to go and test some local recruits. I leave it to your discretion how do you do this as we don't yet have any protocol for recruitment, but it has to be harsh. Can you do that?
>>

Send word to our astropath to send a message to the Holy Ordo Xenos and inform them we have found a potential lifeform that might need to be purged. Send them the planets coordinates as well.

"Harmanthos, good to see you are safe, Ectus, tell the Astropath to send the message to Ordo Xenos, we have specimen they can pick here, its indigeneous"

"Prinium, what is the status of Monastery and Becaon of Faith"

"Excellent work brother-marines, the reports suggest you conducted yourselves in exemplary fashion. Knowing what lives on this world, lead your brothers in aerial dueling practice. Let the mortals see it, as an encouragement to try and join our ranks."

>>19385840
Harmantos seems to be happy to get back into the Chapter:
> I understand your mistrust, brothers, but you can check my body as much as you want - as long as my spirit shines, I have nothing to fear.
When you return him to the ship, Klementhos goes to check him for infection. Roll d100

Archeomedes, Magos Constructis of Nestorius, approaches you:
>Don, it is an honour to meet you, Fabricator General Regon told me that you might turn out to be a great ally in our struggle, I am glad that you are joining our side. My mages have already started scanning the planets surface, looking for optimal places to build radars, AA and AO batteries, and naturally - for a place to build your fortress monastery. I will be the chief architect of this project, so if you will need anything, just speak with me. Currently we are working on budget of 250 Wealth.

I think I missed something, what struggle, which side, if that wasn't already covered then:
"The Adepts of Mars are always allies, Magos. To what conflict do you refer? If another shadow moves across our turf, I would know of it."
>>
>>19385960
>98
It was good knowing you Harmanthos, may your soul be guided to the Emperor.
>>
>>19385864
There is no need for you to do that. As arranged earlier, Kerius has arranged 200 of his best soldiers from his personal guard to join the ranks of Ghosts of Retribution... if they are worthy, that is. It is just now your task to test them to their limits. If your tests will be too harsh, all of them might die. If they are too easy, all of them might day when mutations start... Not an easy task.
>>19385881
You have no personal contact with Ordo Xenos, so I assume, that you want to contact Terra? Please remember that this will take some time and HLoT might not be happy that a just founded Chapter's first message the next year is a call for help. However you might also try to contact Ordo Xenos through Tachion Primaris, Larion Ursus should definitely have their contacts.
>>19385891
>Sergeant Atropos, this would be well suited for what brother Pacinos is doing, maybe we should all join him? He's preparing some kind of tests for the recruits.

Quite. Given our chapter's background, genetic screening is of paramount importance, only the most compatible should be selected here. Of those we should test for the qualities of our chapter.... which we haven't really settled on yet.
"Indeed, the squad shall all join brother pacinos to assist in testing."

Prinium contacts you:
>Lord, we have just arrived at the place. There are good news and the bad news. Good news is that it is amazing, these cogitators are above anything I have ever seen... They seem like some sort of communications nexus, but they are only partly warp-based, similar systems are being used only on ancient starships that were used for colonisation, last mass produced series of such design were seen only back during the Horus Heresy. I don't even know where to start. I think we should need a Magos who deals with Machine Spirits as his specialisation. And he should be loyal sir, not just a mercenary. This should be kept secret... And the bad news is that Targos is missing... most of his equipment is here, but he's nowhere to be found. What should we do?
>>
>>19386074

"Emperor Damn it, Targos! I knew it! Prinium, bring a fire squad of tactical marine, search the place, thoroughly"

"but for you, keep studying it, we don't want to reveal it to others just yet"
>>
>>19385960
Klementhos approaches you discreetly:
>My lord, I suggest immediate isolation. His physical condition is good, too good for someone who spent weeks wounded, while constanly fighting in caves of ice, even for a space marine. His bones are stronger, blood regenerates almost twice as fast as normal space marine and what is most baffling - he has no flaws of our gene-seed. They seem to be gone, just like that... I almost expect his hair to turn white. This is definitely not normal. What should we do?

>>19385986
>Oh... I wasn't aware that Regon hasn't yet introduced you to the delicate situation that our forge world finds itself in right now. I suggest you speak with him about it. I am here only to build fortress. Afterall, you might need it soon enough.

>Well, I guess open databank is the key to productive partnership... Our Forge World has been in a serious conflict with Adeptus Ministorium and it's militant branch of Adeptus Sororitas for a while. Their Cardinal, Astrobelus, is a power-hungry hypocrite who cannot stand autonomy that is granted to us by the Charters of Mars. Their fanatical mobs attack our research missions, we are being constantly mocked by them in Sector Governors court, they go even as far as claim that we are dabbling in heresy... But recently situation has gone out of control, we have sent out an Explorator fleet and it has gone missing in Sub-Sector Tyranus, near one of the planets were we know that Adeptus Sororitas operate. Our spies even report of disturbing news, that Cardinal is calling in favours to begin a Crusade. However no ones knows against whom will it be declared. We prepare for the worst and our Fabricator General is looking for every possible ally in this situation...

Touch, smell, eyesight, mind, intuition. As I was hearing them constantly, I just sort pick out some of the words. But overall I feel great.
