You are Vivienne O'Mailley, and at the moment you are negotiating a deal with a supposed fragment of the soul of Merlin himself. The fragment, simply calling itself 'Merlin' has manifested itself as a scarred young man, chained in binds of silver to a tower covered in the same markings that mark your wand.

He claims to be trapped, inside your wand, which turns out is built on the foundations of Merlin's own. This probably explains your talent in Charms and Transfiguration and pretty much everything else.

"So? Are we agreed?" Merlin asks. "All the knowledge of Merlin for your assistance? Wait, no, that sounded wrong and diabolical and stuff. But the offer stands."

After much consideration, you nod.

"I agree, Merlin. I will do all I can to free you, in exchange for your knowledge and power. Keep in mind, it may be a while befo-mmmph!"
>>
>>19413377
You are cut off by Merlin, jumping the desk between you and pulling you into a tight embrace and spinning you around.

"Thank you! Thank you, thank you, thank you!" His eyes are tearing, and his face is spilt in a huge grin.

"On my honor, Vivienne, I will do all in my power to teach you."

"Thank...you...argh...but would you mind putting me down?" you gasp out.

He blinks. "Oh. Apologies." He carefully lowers you onto the floor, still grinning.

"But I tell you what, I think I've run out of time. You'll be waking up in a minute. Do you mind if I hijack your next few dreams?"

"Um. Sure?"

"Okay, good."

Then, everything goes white.

"Vivienne?" You know, that sounds like a voice you've heard before...

"Lorcan?"

"Hey, you don't look good. You all right?"

>You tell me, Vivienne.

Quest begins whenever. Those of you who caught the last thread, fill in those who didn't. Or something to that effect.

Whatever.

Quest starts whenever you guys feel like it.
>>
>Teenage girl with Merlin's wand.

>Talent in Charms, Transfiguration, and pretty much everything else.

Why didn't you call her Mary Sue?
>>
>>19413396
Vivienne is more 'unique'.
>>
Huh, I should probably make sure this isn't autosageing.

Hang on a mo'.
>>
All's well, apparently. And this gives me another opportunity to scrounge for attention, too!

Gee.
>>
Damn, looks like I missed one.

>>19413396
Blame the dice for that.
>>
I'll consider playing if you retcon her name in to Mary Sue
Those are my terms

>>

>>19413380

>>
God damn it Op, you should have made it an irish dude.

WE could have had a wicked Irish cunt travelling around as a soccer hooligan beating kids up and getting drunk off whiskey
>>
>>19413468
"I had a very... vivid dream. Strange, I mean."

"Oh. Cool."

"Hey, Vivienne, you don't look too good."

"Thank you, Sarah. It's nice to know so many people care."

"Are you all right, Vivienne? You look a little pale."

"Bite me, Lysander."

More ribbing ensues, and in time, you and your posse are on their way to the dungeons for Potions with the Hufflepuffs. The way down is unsurprisingly byzantine and geometrically impossible, but that never stopped magical bullshit, did it?

Professor Vetinari's classroom is long and low, full of odd-smelling vapor and bubbling cauldrons. The only light comes from the brackets of torches on the walls and the burners under the pots. It all culminates into an overly warm, dark, musty and dusty cage.

Professor Vetinari is a stern-looking woman, tall and lined with age. You've heard rumors from the older Slytherins that she has a habit of encouraging competition in the older years, as well as playing favorites and whole sorts of other unteacherly behavior.

She is, however, apparently a pretty decent teacher. Like most of your classes, she's divided the class into partners.

>You gonna stick with Lorcan, or start socializing or something?
>>
>>19413601

Stick with Lorcan, try to brew some of the Irish whiskey (a.k.a the Devils Honey, Irish Coffee, etc.)
>>
>>19413523
Blame /tg/.
>>
>>19413601
Stick with Lorcan, bro it up in potions.
>>
>>19413601

Stay with the people we know.
>>
>>19413601
yeah lets stay with lorcan.
>>
>>19413640
>>19413622
You grab Lorcan by the arm and drag him over to one of the table.

"Good afternoon, class." Vetinari's voice is rich and Italian.

"Welcome to your first Potions class. Here, you will learn a more subtle art than you would in Charms or Transfiguration. The art of manipulating the magic ingrained in the natural world...talky talky chemistry chemistry"

Lorcan elbows you. "Hey," he whispers. "Some of these Hufflepuffs look worse than you do."

"Shut up, Lorc." you reply.

"No, seriously. They look like they haven't slept at all."

He's right, too. The Badgers all look worn out beyond belief. Some of them act like sleepwalkers, even.

"Now, today you will all be brewing a rather basic potion, but an interesting mixture nonetheless. It's commonly known as Adalbert's Dilution, after the magical theorist. It's not a very well known potion, mostly due to the efforts of its creator, but if made properly, it will act as a preservation agent."

>Roll a d100 for potionmaking talent, Marie Susan.

You're still a bit shaky from History, and your mind is fully in another place. Lorcan manages to cover for you, mostly, and your potion, unlike Sarah's didn't explode.

"Good, good." Vetinari nods in approval. "You look a bit under the weather, O'Mailley."

"I'm well informed, Professor."

Class is dismissed, and because you're lucky and stuff, you have the rest of the day off.

>What do you want to do with your freedom, Viv? Study, hit the library, explore Hogwarts, you name it. Also, don't forget, Hagrid's got some kind of turtle or something for you.

Visit Hagrid for our special creature, then explore this crazy place.
>>
Lorcan and Sarah decide to head for the Common Room, and you manage to coerce Margaret, the mousy, bookish Ravenclaw from Charms do come with you to Hagrid. The two of you skip down to Hagrid's hut, a small bungalow of sorts.

"Vivienne!" The huge man calls out when he sees you descend from the castle. "I was wonderin' when yeh'd be coming. An' who's yer friend?"

"Hagrid, Margaret Shanspike, Margaret, Hagrid."

"Pleasure to meet you, Professor."

"No need fer 'Professor', Margaret. Now then, Vivienne, how's about tha' pet, eh?"

"Certainly."

"Come aroun' back, then. You too, Margaret."

Behind the hut, a few small boxes appear to be shaking. One's on fire. Rather surprisingly, one appears to shoot a few feet up in the air with a small 'bang'.

"What...exactly are those, Hagrid?" you ask. Wizards don't have living bombs, do they?

"That, Vivinne, is a clutch of Blast-Ended Skrewts."

"A what?"

"A Blast-Ended Skrewt. One ah' my own breeds. Mix of a Carribean Salamander, an Isreali Siege Turtle, and a Black Forest Hobgoblin."

"Even I know that's a few too many parents, Professor." Margaret says.

"Yeah, well, magic." He shoots you a grin. "So. Vivienne, take yer pick."

"What, you're giving me one?"

"Sure."

>Would you like the smoking box, the exploding box, or the stationary box?
>>
rolled 75 = 75

We seem to like shocking everyone... so explosions!

Well let's go with the stationary one since we already know what the other two do but the third's a mystery.

Hagrid would respect us a bit if we got the exciting one !
>>

Mystery box is always the right answer
>>
You walk over to the box that isn't moving, and open the top. Inside, there's what appears to be some kind of crab... lobster?

Definitely crustacean, though. And it's covered in smooth, steely armor plates. At one end of its body, there's what is probably a tail. It's glowing, too. You have a suspicious feeling that might just be the thing that explodes.

"Well?" Hagrid breaks you from your reverie and nods. "Good choice, that. I reckon it's a bit more on the Siege Turtley side of things. Bit calmer, too. Yeh want ta keep him?"

"Um. Yeah, of course."

You have a feeling that if this thing had a head, it would probably be shooting you a bored glare. You like him.

"Yeah, definitely."

"Excellent. Yeh'd probably want ta be naming 'im, then?"

And we must teach it how to speak at the first opportunity we have available.

"Ron. Ron Yue."

"Eh?"

You're a little surprised by the choice yourself. It's like a voice in your head decided for you. Weirdly, it sounded like Merlin.

Huh.

"Anyways, it's a good name, I reckon. 'Ere, Margaret, yeh want one too?" Hagrid says, shrugging.

"Oh. Um. No thank you, Professor."

"Suit yerself."

The, um, Skrewt hops out of the box and takes a position at your side. You look down at it.

Ron looks up at you.

"Groovy."

>Cutting it off there, gents. I need tired.
>>
>>19414597
Wait, did we say that, or did Ron Yue say it?
