Your name is Ishelda, and you're standing on an airship with a bear, a golem, an avian woman, and an elven woman. The sun is slowly rising above the horizon, and there's nothing but sea below your airship.

"Are you ready to go over the Wall?" Kiyara asked, staring at you expectantly.
>>
"Certainly, but first you should inform everyone else to begin preparing themselves as well." continue conversation with Raziel once we are alone again.
>>
Imma leave this to someone else.
>>

I know that feel.
>>
Wait before we leave, I wanted to do something
just a sec...
>>
"Certainly." You say, nodding your head. "But first, you should inform everyone else to begin preparing themselves as well."
Kiyara nodded, and went belowdeck, no doubt to wake everyone up.
When you turn back to Raziel, you can see her leaning over the railing, tapping it with something short and white- it almost looks like a wand of some sort.
"Nevermind." Raziel said, shaking her head. "But. . I'm curious. What was that sparking white . . elemental earlier, when the wall was breached? The one that tore the demon off of Kiyara."

I guess no compass for us.

Also, I understand that the players might not bother thinking ahead and rushing but why the hell are you, Exabyte, rushing us? We already Talked with Kiyara and said that we will leave when we say we will leave. Why the fuck did you make her bother us again?
I would have thrown her overboard if I was in Ishelda's place. "Wah, wah, wah, I'm so close to my father don't make me wait more" completely disregarding that if not for us it would have taken her MONTHS to get where we are on her own.

"Wait one moment." You say, and Kiyara stops.
You reach into the pouch full of crystals and orichalum, and draw out a chunk of the arcane, enchantable material. With an impression of will, you do something that you wouldn't have even been able to conceptualize before you had come to this world- You create a compass, enchanted with the ability to scry and find it's target. You don't do it perfectly, and waste some extra power, but you draw out the spinning, circles-within-circles shape of a gyroscopic compass, and toss it to Kiyara.
"What is this?" She asks, catching it. It spins in her hand, and points, unerringly, toward the Wall.
>>
>>19433837
"It points to your father."

"Ascend the ship as far as possible, above the clouds. With that compass, we don't need to see the land."

>"But. . I'm curious. What was that sparking white . . elemental earlier, when the wall was breached? The one that tore the demon off of Kiyara."

"I'm not sure. The attack.... left me hazy, I can't remember much of it."
>>
"It points to your father. Ascend the ship as far up as possible, above the clouds. With that compass. . we don't need to see the land."
Kiyara looks at the compass in her hand, and then back at you.
"Yes, lady." She says, and goes below deck.
"I'm not sure." You tell Raziel. "The attack. . .left me hazy. I can't remember much of it."
"The reason I'm asking is because. . well, it reminded me. Of angry spirits." She said.
>>
>>19433932
"Angry spirits?
What are they?"
>>
"Angry spirits? What are they?"
"I was in an ogrish tomb." She said, raising the white wand-like object. "Using my power to bring the. . past to life. But one of the spirits I woke up was. .furious. In his wrath, the warlord tore the magic from the other spirits, consuming them, and refused to let me exert any control over him. He burst into white sparks just like that elemental, and I ended up having to seal him away in this." She said, waving the wand. "His own fingerbone."
>>
>>19434089
"Well I was angry when I summoned it..."
>>
>>19434126
"and they did destroy my home. Perhaps it was"
>>
>>19434089
"Was what I summoned a spirit too? I'm sure, I tried to make an elemental..."
>>
"You don't mean. . I summoned a spirit?"
"No, it wasn't a spirit." She said. "It was something different. It was angrier than Wharghaul, but without a personality of any kind."
"Well, I was angry when I summoned it. . ." You say.
Quite suddenly, you realize that it wasn't a flame elemental. That hot, hot wrath that swelled up inside of you... If an elemental can be a personification of an element; fire, water, air, earth...
Why couldn't you summon a personification of an emotion?

On impulse, you raise one of your hands, palm up, and you reach inside yourself for your magic. But not just magic, but . . emotion as well. You foster your own anger, feeling it swell as you recall the atrocities the demons had brought down on your people. You feed your anger, indulging in it. . and then fuse it with the magic you brought forth.

A sphere of white flame bursts into being above your palm, sparks falling off of the sphere's surface and bouncing along your palm. You feel the sphere roar, and you can see some kind of serrated, angry maw, wanting to rend, devour, consume. .

You clench your hand over the sphere, reabsorbing the energy you'd expelled.
You're certain now. What you built back then. . was a wrath elemental.
>>
>>19434249
We should definitely spend some time studying this newfound ability of ours, but I guess this isn't really the time or place for magic research.
>>
Embrace our anger

Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.
>>
>>19434305
I can't see why not.

>>19434341
Ugh. Anger is such a poor source. You ever notice where all the sith that embraced anger end up? Dead.
Not saying the philosophy itself is entirely bad, just that basing it on anger, or hate, or fear is.
>>
>>19434363
The Sith don't simply venerate anger
Passion of all forms
>>
It's neither the time nor place for magic research, you tell yourself.
"That is. . very similar to a spirit." Raziel says. "It's almost as if-"
The door to the stairs down to the cabins suddenly burst open, and Ser Verniad's elves and Kiyara step out, followed by the orcish knights. Kiyara walks up to the ship's wheel, and starts to put her gauntlet on the control crystal, but Bubbles puts one of his very pointy, very sharp legs up to her throat. She freezes.
"What is the meaning of this?" Ser Verniad asks, eying the golem.
>>
>>19434249
Oh! Emotion elementals! Since we have this huge load of princessly calm and dignity we could probably masterly summon calm elementals! They are probably excellent butlers!
>>
>>19434436
"Oh sorry, I forgot."

"Ser Bubbles, please stand down from my order to guard the wheel."
>>
>>19434436
Btw, how big is Ser Bubbles?
>>
>>19434479
>The spider golem is much larger than you are- he's roughly as large as a small car, but the way his thorax sits, is head is at the same level as yours. He's not a true spider, as he has no abdomen, just a thorax, head, and then eight sharp, pointy, stabby legs.

"Ser Bubbles, please stand down from my order to guard the wheel." You say, and Bubbles lowers his leg, stepping away from the wheel.
"Above cloud level, right, Lady?" Kiyara asked, still quite pale. You nod, and she takes the airship upwards. You note that she's still quite badly burned from being tackled by the demon earlier, at the Breach, but she's no longer wearing trollflesh bandages.

Ezekiel, Ell, Lewin, and Fellwind climb up, following the orcish knights and king.
>>
>>19434548
Ask her why she stopped wearing the bandages.
>>
>>19434434
Never said they did. It is, however, one of the most commonly presented passions, along with the others I mentioned.

I'm just saying we shouldn't focus on those passions. They tend to not end well.

Regardless, this isn't really the place for an argument on the nature of the Sith.
>>
>>19434463
>When you use a passion or emotion, it has to be an 'upper, active' emotion, such as hope, anger, love, determination, but it can't be a 'downer, passive' emotion, such as calm, disappointment, or sadness.

"If I may ask," You start. "Why are you no longer wearing the bandages?"
"Stopped working." She said. "This is as healed as life magic can do for me. The nature of these burns . . make it almost permanent."
"I'm sure there's a healer that can patch you up, Kee." Ell said.
"Probably." She said. "But we're not back at the spires, are we? We need to get this done, then I can get a healer to look at me."
She drew the compass out of a pouch at her hip, and she examined it closely, changing the airship's destination accordingly.
>>
>>19434712
Can we see anything under the bow of our ship?
How big is the wall?
Is Grayson nearby?
>>
You look over the bow of the airship. In the distance, through the clouds, you can see the wall, far below. It was massive, made out of reddened clay, and ever so often there was a small cluster of a hobgoblin camp, some with trolls, some with war machines of some kind. . as you travel, you can see the clouds darkening as you get closer to your destination, to a deep black. You eye Grayson, and he harrumphs at you, as if to remind you that he was still there. The clouds start to thicken, and soon you can't see anything.
"We're about to cross the wall." Kiyara says.
The orcish king turns to you. "What's the plan?"
>>
>>19434831
"Avoid direct confrontation as best we can, utilize the protective measures we have in place to protect from any incoming flame attacks so that we can quickly reach and rescue Kiyara's father and evacuate."
>>because no one else has posted

"Drop down, grab Kyvann, go back up again." You say. "This isn't a place I want to hang around for longer than necessary."
Ezekiel kneels and puts his palms on the deck of the ship. "I'm ready." He says, and you pass over the wall.
Everyone holds their breath, but. . nothing happens. Demonfire doesn't assault the ship, the airship doesn't start shuddering and falling out of the sky. . You're simply floating above blackened clouds.
"We're almost on top of it." Kiyara says, looking at the compass- it's pointing steeply downwards. "Should we descend?"

"There's something large down there... I didn't see it clearly. It could be some kind of structure." You say. "I *hope* it's some kind of structure."
"Then we'd better get down there before the demons show up." Kiyara said, and sent the airship plunging through the black cloud.

What you see startles you.

Below you loomed... something strange, yet familiar.

It was a castle, almost a mirror image of the one your grew up in. .but twisted, distorted version.
Instead of pale brick, it was blackened and charred, as if it were cut out of charcoal. Instead of wrought iron gates, it was pale bone, lashed together. Instead of warm, bright watchtowers, with knights standing around a fire as they did on cold winter nights, it was a pungent, pale flame that belched smoke- it was nothing warm or welcoming, but cold, and heartless. You see smaller, winged demons standing at the walls, their arms aflame with hellfire, but they don't seem to see you, as high up as you are.
"He's inside there somewhere." Kiyara said, eyes on the compass.

>Arbalest
Oh dear. These guys are perfectly equipped to drop demons with every shot.

Exabyte, you wonderfully /k/ inept bastard, the Arbalest is a later medieval variation of the crossbow. Very heavy draw, though the bow itself isn't incredibly heavy; it has to be winched with a crank, and was fully capable of piercing platemail with ludicrous ease and even chipping stone fortifications with its bolts. The bigger ones hit with 5000lbf or so. With the entire crew equipped with these, though it'll be a long time between volleys, because of the arduous task of cranking the bow, demons will die en masse with each one. And that's without considering that if these are normal, not orc-sized, they'll come out far faster because of orc's greater strength, and if they're scaled up orc-sized arbalests, then this is going to be some Dark Souls bridge knight bullshit right here.

Battle plan. We're swooping in over the fortifications, and landing upon the nearest bastion to Kyvann. Grubwort's crew focuses on skewering demons with their arbalests and laughing, because these guys just run around in their hellish skivvies, right? No fancy platemail between them and Arbalest bolts. Orcish knights and keepers, front and backline respectively, hold the line in melee. And the named NPC's do their thing with us, searching for Kyvann and killing demons. The crew should focus on defending the ship rather than storming the castle, but by no means should they be limpwristed or idle about it. A proactive offensive defense is reasonable as well.
>>
"They should be." You say, nodding.

"Taking us down." Ell said, and the airship descended.
A screech comes up from the wall, and the impish winged demons take to the air, arms full of hellfire-
And then heavy bolts and javelins tear into them, knocking them out of the air before they can throw even a single spell. The elven keepers and orcish crew cheer.

Then there was an enormous howl, shaking the world around you, as you feel it reverberating through your chest.
"That's. . not good." Fellwind said. "Lady, if the demons at the wall heard that. . they'll be on their way here. We might not have the time to take things slow and steady."
"New plan." You say. "Ell, after we set down, take the airship to cover us from the air. Grubwort, Take out the demons coming this way. Verniad, protect Grubwort's Crew."
They nod, and then you feel the airship shudder, stopping near one of the open towers closest to Kyvann's location. The knights rush forward, easily outnumbering the non-winged demons there and pulverizing them. Your cotorie follows the knights, and the Jormungandr lifts away, as soon as everyone disembarks

I like how you assume "up" means "backwards". He wasn't expecting his airship to get shot down as soon as he crossed the wall. He needs extracting. If he wants us to take him further in instead of out, that's a bridge we'll cross once we're back in the air with no demons trying to kill us.
>>
Your group sets off, the knights rushing down the stairs. Screeches and roars come from ahead, but. . the orc knights are louder, reciting some poem in ogrish- something about the flash of a swinging blade, honor, and valour, using the poem to keep themselves in control.

That's when the castle shakes, and an enormous, massive screech comes from the exit.
<Lady! Watch out!> Grubwort says, and something enormous collides into the wall from the outside, massive claws tearing through the blackened, charred brick, the point of one of- whatever it was's claws less than a foot from your eye.
The castle shakes again, and the claws twist downward. . tearing the wall of the demonic castle out.
Clinging to the side of the fortress, was. . a dragon, a massive beast of blackened bone, long wings covered in flayed flesh, and maddened eyes you've seen before- the same eyes of every demon you've seen. It rears back, and hellfire streams from it's mouth.

"Die, beast of the pit!" You snarl, and thrust something made out of hot, white, wrath at it, the blast throwing it's head back, stopping the demon's breath before it can even get started. You don't stop, throwing another blast, and another, piercing through the beast's head with multiple spears of wrath. The dragon's claws loosen, and it falls off of the tower, smashing into the ground below. It twitches, and you know it's not dead-
So you use your signature spell, awakening the stone of the wall it had torn off. The stone golem pulls itself together, and starts pummeling the beast, smashing open the demon's skull, repeatedly, pulverizing it beyond all reason with heavy, weighty fists made out of blackened stone.

Primly, you lower your arms, white sparks still dancing along your palms.
"Raziel, would you kindly set your spirit on these world eaters?" You ask, tightly-controlled fury still dancing in your eyes.

She blinks, and then nods, drawing out the oversized finger bone, and started chanting.

Ahead, the knights have run into some trouble- larger demons have come, wielding massive shields.

Maybe... Maybe we should just stop rolling for a bit unless solicited. I think this is our karma for oneshotting the obvious boss that was the giant demondragon. Ishelda's probably taxed after such a feat.

Have Grayson use his nose to sniff him out and help direct us in addition to the compass (do we have it with us?) since we're not exactly a detective nor can we scry him while so taxed.

You nod, and urge Grayson down the stairs into the dungeons, Fellwind taking the front, and Lewin the back. You close your eyes and try to speed your group up, but. . the energy just fades into nothingness, refusing to twist into the spell you're trying. The world swims, and you start to run out of energy.

The dungeons are dark, and there are suprisingly, no demon-

The ground quakes, and you see a large, heavily built demon standing in front of the group. Large horns coil around his head, and he wields some kind of heavy blade.

"I got this." Raziel says. . and snaps the finger bone in her talons.
A shimmering ogre bursts into being, and catches the demon's blade on his club. Ezekiel raises his arms, and starts blasting the demon with thunderbolts, causing it to roar in pain. It leans forward, and tears through the spectral ogre with its' off hand, throwing it into one of the dungeon's walls. The specter vanishes into smoke, and Zeke brings his hands up again, slamming spells into the demon's hide, blasting the demon back with incredible kinetic force.
"I'll hold him back." He said. "Go."
Raziel knelt, and started chanting some kind of spell.

You continue following Kiyara, who rushes ahead, and you leave the Kalak behind. As you leave, Raziel finishes her spell, and something large and white leaps out of the ground- another specter, you suppose.

The tunnels get smaller, wilder, and more winding, but you can't shake the feeling that this is a twisted, distorted version of Arcturus Castle.

"Dad!" you hear Kiyara cry, and she's staring into one of the dungeon's cells. she puts her gauntlet on the lock, and tendrils of magic shoot out of it, starting to pick the lock. Inside the cell is an aged redhaired elf, fresh cuts and scars covering his body.
"Hey, Kee." He responded, wheezing.

A small group of demons, wielding flaming shortswords charged around the corner. Bubbles and Fellwind leaped forward, slashing into them with leg and blade. Lewin knelt, drew back his bow, and started biting his lower lip, focusing.

"Kiyara, get your father onto Grayson's back, now." You say, climbing down off of the bear's back.
"I can't get this open!" She responds. Grayson harrumphs, gets up on his hind legs, grips the cell's bars, and with the strength only a massive, magical dire beast could bring to bear (heh), it tore the bars out. Kyvann climbed onto the bear, and Kiyara tied him onto the saddle.
"Kyvann, I hope you have experience in bear riding! Make haste!" You cry.

Lewin's arrow shot out of his bow, and tore into the final living demon, killing the roar in it's throat.

His chanting grows in power, the look in his eyes crueler, and his grin wider, as you strain against his spell, trying to tear your way out of it. You feel something grip ahold of your magic. . and tear it out of you. You expel the last dregs of your magic to break his spell, and your head swims, your muscles aching.

"Ishelda!" Fellwind cries, and you see him throw something at you. You catch it- Rikar, his blade. Unskilled hands wrap around the hilt, and you swing it at the . .thing in front of you. The blade slashes through the caster, and the chanting is interrupted by a howl.

Everything starts moving again, apparently freed from the spell, and Bubbles leaps onto the caster, piercing him with all eight legs, and tearing him apart.

Carried underneath the spider golem, you look foward, and see the two Kalak victorious, having completely crushed the demon. Raziel dismisses the spectre of an ogre, and the two of them follow you.

"True. Venerable King, I think it's about time you told me how you held the line against an entire company of shieldbearer demons. That was possibly the most lopsided example of symmetrical warfare I've ever seen, in history or personal experience, and you still won!"

"True." You say. "Venerable King, I think it's about time you told me how you held the line against an entire company of shieldbearer demons. Thatwas possibly the most lopsided example of symmetrical warfare I've ever seen, in history or personal experience, and you still won!"
"It. . wasn't a true victory." He said. "We just had to 'not die' long enough for you to return. We simply locked shields in a phalanx formation, and I used a bit of my. . arcane talent to give us a boost, and we just shoved against them the entire time."

Soon enough, the Healers got off of the airship, and went back to their spire, leaving just the orcish crew, orcish knights, and your friends on board.
"So, what's the plan now?" Lewin asked, looking around.
"We'd best return back to Carved Fortress." The king said.
"And let the council know that my dad isn't dead, like I *told* them he wasn't." Kiyara said.

You're going to enjoy rubbing that in their faces, right?

"Council first. Then, back to the Carved Fortress, for a victory parade."

as much as I want to be there to see the looks on their faces I think we should be getting the venerable king back to his queen; she might be worrying about him...
>>
"You're going to enjoy rubbing that in their faces, right?"
"Of course." She says, with an evil, evil grin on her scarred face. "Of course, I also made a few. . monetary bets about it, so I'll be able to build a brand new airship with my winnings!"
"Well, let's talk to the council first. Then, back to the Carved Fortress, for a victory parade." You say.
"That'll take forever, though." Kiyara said. "We'll have to visit every prism and talk to the councilors."

so there might be time for us to drop off the king and return to watch you rub it into some faces?

wonderful.

"But once we're back on the Weave, we'll be able to go beyond our normal full knot without repercussion, right? It won't take that long."
>>
"So there might be time for us to drop off the king and watch you rub it into faces?" You ask.
She nods, and grins.
"Carved fortress first, then we'll be returning to the weave to brag." Kiyara says, and touches the ship's wheel.
"Oh, yeah, I almost forgot!" She said. "Lady, I put that compass you gave me in here." She said, tapping the wheel itself. It looks as if she changed what the compass was attuned to- for now, it's just pointing north, but you can most certainly change what it's attuned to later.

"Now. . " She says, brushing her hair out of her face. "We're off!"
The airship shudders, and starts going north.
