"Ishelda?" You hear Raziel knocking on your door, softly. You hear her shift her feet, and something feels. . wrong about it.
Grayson seems to hear it too, and moves his head up quickly, mildly alarmed. . but then he sniffs twice, and lowers his head again.
She knocks again, and you figure that if Grayson isn't worrying about it, you shouldn't either- So you open the door.

In front of the doorway, you see a statuesque, human woman, with long black hair, a hawk-like nose, and dark blue eyes.
She wrinkled her nose. "Yeah, I'm not used to this form. Too many fingers, and having lips are weird as hell. You okay?"

"Just put it down somewhere." You say, not wanting to bother with it right now. She sets it down, and Rikar shifts back into diamond.
You huff and plop back down on your bed.
". . You're not okay, are you?" Raziel asks. She frowns.
"Do you think I'm a monster?" You ask. Strange, you didn't even intend to say it. The words just. . came out.
"What?! No, you're not a monster." She says. "That's ridiculous. Being a monster is. .based on what you do, not what you are. And what have you done? You've saved lives, freed elves from demons. . .If anything, you're the opposite of a monster. Fellwind is just being a dick."

"Ishy?" You say. "I. . I like the sound of that." You say, and hug her tightly.
You quickly fall into a soft, dreamless sleep.

"No, no, no." Raziel calls, her voice cracking like a whip. "Even though you have an extra joint in your legs, humans don't. And this is a human dance. Do you want to dance, Nahzit? DO YOU WANT TO DANCE?!"
Nahzit doesn't respond.
"YES. YES YOU DO." Raziel says."Velrid is doing it right, see? Do you really want to be upstaged by your brother? Tense up your. . heel things, and don't use them at all."
"Yes, Raziel." Nahzit said.

You go above deck. . and see two of the lizardmen dancing with one another, Raziel dancing with Nahzit. . .and Grayson dancing with Bubbles.
The last one is actually pretty interesting to see.

You simply sit down on the deck and watch, as the group learns ballroom dancing- The lizardmen, surprisingly, are the best at it, despite their abnormal physiology. Raziel trades off with Velrid, and then she shifts the pairs around, as she starts to teach Ezekiel and Ell.
>>
So Lewin did give the blade back but are we going to keep it or tell him to keep it? Should probably decide that soon.
>>

After a while we could slowly get into the mood and join in.

Perhaps conjure atmospheric music and scenery?
>>
>>19505673
I keep mixing them up too.
Fellwind = the dick
Lewin = pretty cool guy

If I am not mistaken. If any of them is to keep it, it should probably be Fellwind since it was his sword to begin with, though I don't mind letting Lewin keep it too.
>>
Just something for later but we should see how Sacrifice affects our magic. Inb4 emo Ishy.
>>
>>19505673
Fellwind said, "I give it you." then went below. We picked it up and went below, heard the two talking and Fellwind call us a monster. We fled sobbing after dropping the sword. Presumably Lewin then asked Raziel to give it to us, being the decent guy he is.
>>
Let's just give the sword back to him, he has more use to it than us, and knows how to use it.
>>
>>19505673
I'd like to give it back to him. Not because he deserves either it or forgiveness, but because when you give a gift in good faith, it isn't yours anymore regardless of the circumstances.

He probably gave it back because he didn't want to feel like he owes us. We should show him we're a better person than he is, and remind him that it is his property to do with as he sees fit. What he does with it after that reminder is up to him.

tl;dr: be the bigger man, even when you're the little girl.
>>
Ezekiel, you can see, is somewhat wary about it, So you do what you can. You reach out with your magic, and darken the air outside of the airship, simulating night. Then you close your eyes. . and remember the last ball you'd been to. The music was soft, yet moving. . and so you bring it forth with your power.

Everyone looks over to you, but you're simply sitting there, moving one of your hands as if you were holding a conductor's baton.

"That's how you do it!" Raziel said, pointing at you and the elemental.

"I'm jealous." Henrietta said, in the past. "Everyone's looking at you, rather than me."
"Of course they are." You remember Marigold, your cousin, responding. "That's because your dress is magical. How did you even get the wizard to enchant it?"
"He didn't." You remember saying. "I made it myself."
"I wish *I* had powers." Henrietta had said.
"I remember hearing a story about powers." Marigold said. "Grandad told me tales about the first king of Arcturus, and he said that he could. . raise fire, and turn the stones themselves into soldiers. Grandad said he was from another world, and he called it sorcery."

As you remember that, you freeze, and come back to the present.

Bloodlines, inherited power.

Impulse was right.
>>
>>19506207
Grandfather from another world?

Keep this in mind and go back to dancing, perhaps we should teach them too.
>>
You pull away from the elemental, and you examine it. The 'Wrath' elemental was volitile, angry, with bouncing, furious sparks richocheting off of every surface possible. . But this elemental is. . .different. It's beautiful, twinkling like the stars, and serene. What emotion is this one?

You touch it, almost a caress, and it falls apart, shattering like glass against the deck.

"Now." You say. "I'll assist Raziel in teaching you."

By the time you stop at one of the elven prisms for the night, everyone is . . passable. The lizardmen are surprisingly good learners, and Ell is pretty enthusiastic about it, but you can tell that Ezekiel isn't very interested. Raziel, of course, is almost as good as you are, but she continually complained about her human form, viewing it as 'ugly'.

"My best feature is my beak, and this body doesn't even have one." Raziel says, frowning. It's almost funny- her human form is beautiful, but she doesn't seem to realize it.

"I know nothing of your kind." You say. "What's ugly for your people?"
"Dull colors, a thin crest. . It's probably hard for you to tell, but I'll tell you, I'm gorgeous in my normal form." She said, drinking some more swamp brew- you hadn't been able to keep her from drinking at all, but you HAD negotiated her down to only a single orcish teacup a night.

>>19506403

>>
"Well, you're gorgeous by human standards at least, so don't fret it too much." You say.
"Really? Okay." She said, with a sheepish grin. "It's hard for me to tell, really. You have no plumage to speak of, other than that pale stuff on your head."
She shrugged, and took another sip.
"Tell you what- if, for any reason, you need to shapeshift into a kalak, I'll guide you through it."

"Thank you for the offer." You say, smiling at her. "Oh, right!" You exclaim, suddenly sitting up. With Lewin's injury, and then all of the things that happened after that. . you'd forgotten about Kell and the flowers!

You pull Kell out of Grayson's saddlebag, where he 'graw's at you, and you pull out the packet of Galadriel's Light seeds. With a thin stick, you prop open the vines in his back, and he struggles, obviously uncomfortable.

Planting the seeds into his back, you hold him tight, close your eyes, and focus, reaching out with your magic. .

"Did you notice the elemental I summoned earlier? What was it made of?"

"Do you know of any alchemized substances you'd be willing to share with me?"
". . There is the material that Azariel's tower is made out of- I call it ebonstone. There is little else beside that, orichalum, and spellcrystals."
"Why do you want to go to the human provinces?"
"There are artifacts I'm seeking." She said.
"Is there anyone in this world you'd recommend I meet with that I have not already?"
"Know this." She says, raising a hand. "This world. . has been slumbering for a long time. When you came here... You started to meddle. . waking things up. Azariel has taken to his throne again. "What is Azariel's Throne?"
"I can answer that." Raziel said, but Impulse shushed her.
"Azariel's throne is an artifact made out of the stone of . . some kind of mountain from the kalak homeworld. Seer's Peak, It would be called in this language. What it does is gives. . distance to spells. As long as you sit within it, your magic can reach the entire continent. "Oh, when he first came to this world, I was able to explain a few things to him." She said. "I also got his story and such.
"What happened to his world?"
"Well. . ."
You notice that Raziel looks very, very attentive, hanging on to Impulse's every word.
"He was a criminal." Impulse said. "A monster, a fugitive."
Raziel's eyes are as wide as dinner plates.
"He made his throne, and with his evocation, he simply sat in it and tore the world asunder. When he was finally captured, and his slaves freed, they sealed up his evocation magic. During the demon attacks, he escaped, retook his throne, and left to a different world. . by sacrificing twelve female kalak. He stole their eggs- for further sacrifices, I suppose, and left. He ended up at Crescent Islands, where I was at the time. We became quick friends."

Crescent Islands, that is where Eidolon left his family tree and where Azariel ended up. You seem to have spent time with quite a few important people there.

Am I allowed to find it strange you became quick friends with the man who tore his world asunder like that?

Also, what is your current relationship with Azariel and what was it like when you were sealed into Bubbles?

"No, you're wrong." She said. "I can tell you which parts of her story I . .wasn't told. I was not told about the. . sacrifices. Nor the throne, nor the Crescent Islands."
"How can you be friends with someone like that?" You ask Impulse.
She shrugged. "What he did in his old world. . was of no consequence. The world was dead anyway, with the demons. It was a fresh start for him. I'm a firm believer in fresh starts- similar to how I got my own fresh start when I entered your golem. Before it was your golem, that is."
"What is your current relationship with Azariel?"
"He doesn't know I live again. And if you mention my name or appearance. . he won't be able to tell who you're talking about. Impulse is just a strange word to him. That's. . one of the reasons for my fresh start."
"What was it like when you were sealed into Bubbles?"

No romance? Ok.

You slowly awaken, with the groggy feeling that mornings normally bring. But something is not normal. The lower half of your body feels damp. You look down. It's red. You're covered in blood! You quickly leap out of bed, scanning the room for enemies. The room is quiet and empty. Ser Bubbles stands guard in the corner as usual. What's going on? Now that you think about it, you don't feel injured. Well whatever happened, Bubbles would have seen it.
"Bubbles, why am I covered in blood?"
"I would deduce that you are entering puberty."
"Puberty? Where's that?"
"It is not a place. It is a process that organic lifeforms go through in order to reach sexual maturity."
"Se... what?"
"Allow me to demonstrate. Eidolon made sure I was equipped for situations like this."

Aawww sheet.

And I was going to be nice and vote to give her the crystal back.
>>
>>19509639
Well that went well. She cheats us, we get even and try to get this situation back on the grounds we agreed to, she cheats us even more as a result. Can we get out of this without violence, Exabyte, or at least part with frayed relations and Bubbles intact and back on our side?

Impulse is helpful. But she's too, not surprisingly, impulsive. This may be because we don't trust her, which may be why she doesn't trust us, but there's no telling if she'll actually be trustworthy if we trust her and give her magic and crystal back or that she'll give Mr. Bubbles back.

The clearest solution, is to simply erase the unsealing magic she stole from the crystal- that's too dangerous to leave with her, because that can theoretically be used to 'unseal' any number of metaphysical locks, many of which would best go untampered- unseal her magic as we promised, and get Bubbles back (and with us recognized as 'Eidolon') in exchange. That's assuming she's amiable to leaving the most violent result of this situation as a mere Mexican standoff, which is being rather optimistic. Being more pessimistic she might not wait and just try and kill everyone immediately until we give it back and she won't plan on giving back anything she's taken.

What's the chances of the optimistic result, Exabyte?

We did erase the spell.

>You graze your hand over it, and feel the imprints of the unsealing spell you had put on it. You wipe it clean. . then you toy with the idea of keeping it.

>Knowing you guys, I'd say that you've shown yourselves as good diplomancers; See Raziel and Three from NFC, so there's a pretty good chance that you'll leave without overt combat.
>But then again, you have to take Impulse's motivations into account. . .
>Or at least, you *would* have to, if you knew the full extent of her motivations.
>>

Exabyte! Stop being ominous, it's scary!

Also:
>"Take the crystal from the girl." She says.
"I'm not a girl, I'm a monster."
>>
>>19510056
Yes, yes, one step down, I'm aware.

>>19510112
She wants to understand magic as well as she can. Hence, one motivation for stealing the unsealing spell. One no doubt far more important than that mere "I want my magic back" thing. Though being magically impaired makes magical study harder.

I think the 'toying with the idea of keeping it' thing was a bit out of left field, we were just taking the crystal from her, as she took our magic. But in any case, you don't steal the work of your colleagues. We've endeavored to understand magic plenty. And she just jipped our work, in addition to breaking her word! And now she's taken something of ours as a bargaining chip as we just did, that something being Ser Bubbles, a thinking (if overtly logical and law-riddled) and pseudoliving being. She's overstepped severely.

So, negotiating and explaining these facts will no doubt see us giving her magic and crystal doodad of learning back, and her giving our golem back minus the sleeper code and agreeing not to take magic from us we aren't willing to share. And if she's some kind of devil in disguise, well, shit, we'll just have to leave a magical killswitch enchantment on her magic as we fiddle with and unseal it. Simple.
>>
I think we should do what Mr 97 >>19509397 here suggested and seal the artifact. She can have it back when it's been rendered much more difficult to use and then get the hell off our ship
>>
>>19510112
We can diplomance anyone, once we make it clear to her that the spell is no longer on the heart she'll understand her best chances of getting her magic back and understanding the unsealing mechanism is to stand down and not try to cheat us.

Also last thread Impulse said something about us all being from the noblest of Lineages, and she included Grayson in that. Is Grayson the Prince of the Bears? Is that why his manners are so excellent?
>>
>>19510272
Waste of time, energy and ally.
>>
>>19510275
>Prince of the Bears
Bitch please, Lord of the Berry Bushes and King of Bearkind, King Grayson should be offended by that ordure.
>>
>>19510365
He's still young, he is not fully grown yet.

>Dire animals are essentially, standard animals with Talents. Usually, said talents manifest as them being smarter, wiser, larger, and more powerful than most. During that conversation, she essentially said that 'talents make royalty' as opposed to the other way around.

>So no- he's only one of many 'royal' ursine.

rolled 70 = 70

>>19510875
rolling for turning bubbles into our own golem, no other possible master ever. otherwise destroy him.
>>
>>19510997
Tomorrow, bro. Quest is over for today. Hopefully you are in a better timezone then I, and wake up before it's half over
>>
Beginning the next thread we should just toss the crystal back to her.
Remember, the order was "Take the crystal from the girl", if we do not have the crystal then the golem will not make any moves.
In the meantime, we will cast a spell on Bubbles removing the override completely and getting him back under our control.

"Don't think your tricks don't bother other people, this was not what I agreed for." Cross your arms and go "Humph!"
>>
>spider
>girl
We have names, bitch. Voting for calling her "Rabbit" for the rest of the conversation.

Also,
>Threatens us to make a body because she says she has nothing to trade and wouldn't give her knowledge even for a body
>Tries to trade her knowledge for a minor improvement to the body a couple of days later
"Impulse" certainly seems to suit her.
>>

Also,
>She's already revealed that she could read my memories while she was possessing me so she'll know anything I know but her knowing the secret code must mean she's Eidolon even though she's blatantly not because she's completely the wrong gender for a start.
What the fuck, Bubbles. Knighthood revoked until you learn to think for 5 seconds before betraying us.
>>
>>19513489
Come on man, it is an override code. Not his fault.
Remember that it is an artificial construct first and foremost, it is not a person.
>>
>>19513592
Then we make him a person.
>>
>>19513820
That's actually not a bad idea.
