Greeting elegan/tg/entleman.Last time, our search in the library gave us unexpected result: a hidden room behind one of the bookcase revealed a book wrapped in corruption, but not the usual one you’ve eaten for breakfast, something much more sinister and dramatic: the Old Corruption, a relic of the previous Demon Lord, one that required 13 of the world greatest individuals to stop. But precious information was gained with some kind of…gibberish, but from the sentence after it might be some kind of prophecy? Or speculations? Hadraniel also seemed to have been quite vulnerable to this…stench, but that’s not all for some kind of huge humanoid silhouette appeared in the stairs, blocking the exit and forcing both you and the Hero into combat but the one to barge out the door had been the keeper of the library, not this would-be enemy that the angel identified as a nightmare. Not that you had time to investigate the matter for soldiers carried you to the regent chamber due to you uncovering this little secret chamber, but the regent seemed reasonable and simply said that the both of you were now ‘’even’’ and, after some talk in clearing up the dramatic event of 5 years ago, it would seem someone in Ame-no-Uzume retinue has a close tie to it… but now you’ve got some meeting to do, what is going to be the most boring part of the journey will start.
When Tanuya entered the room, it was hard to keep a straight face when she completely froze while looking at you with a very, very small hint of blush on her feature but the girl recovered very quickly and what followed was a rather tense greeting, it seem the regent knew of the Tanuki existence and didn’t seem to be liking her work one bit. That is until the dirt on the nobles scheduled to come started to spill, seem like most of them are guilty of tax evasion and defamation of the good queen name, with smuggling for some, kidnapping of men… some of the far off even went as far as being trying to be independent, being vassal in all but names. But the most convincing evidence were brought on those still living in the capital and some of the exiled ones living in the largest counties, but all of this is more than enough for squeezing them dry: there only a single family free of anything and it seem the regent is going to reward it, after all is said and done. It doesn’t look like you’ll be needed here, there still some spark coming from Ran but she does understand the need of the Tanuki position, but perhaps she hoped such a thing would be filled by the mantis order? It doesn’t seem you’ll be needed, ran did show you that she was sharp, and so is Tanuya the two of them are more than competent enough to squeeze any of the noble and counselor but your presence will reinforce the authority of the cat-woman, now that you think about it shouldn’t the queen actually take care of this or, at the very least, be present herself? …maybe you shouldn’t ask for now. Well you still have your duties but… the name Belvedere still ring in your head and inspire some form of nostalgia, drifting off… might be something you can do for now.[] Reminisce on some part of your past?[] No time for this nonsense! And so time marched on, strategy for the meetings deployed and, overall, everything looked sound if not perfect, salvaging the various incident when the small queen of the north might not actually be that difficult a goal, at least making sure the nobles in or near the capital don’t get funnier ideas might just be accomplished without some kind of intimidation by the mantises. Hmm so 2 vote for the childhood friend sequence... I'll wait a bit more
[X] The incident with your one week childhood friend, Avina and when you crossed path with that hateful woman?
Your life in the college was rather erratic, but that was mostly due to your little adolescent crisis, but the whole environment with most of the stuck up kids your age certainly didn’t help but, in a way, it did break the shell you had formed during your childhood, but that manifested in an extremely outward hostile nature that only your mother and a select few teachers were spared from but still looking back on it now, you were quite the pain in the ass.. But then your mom, who was very busy and didn’t had much time to keep you company (even if she somehow did it every day) caught you when you were sneaking out to find your very first friend and boy was it quite the encounter, your shyness was crippling and you were afraid, after all even at 14 years old you did understand that Avina was a Yuki-Oona and, consequently, a monster but again, your mother didn’t give a damn and during that week, each day you’d sneak how you could to find your small cool friend who was a much better at teaching you your craft, because she mostly shared your talent after all. And each evening you mother would find you in the forest and become something of a surrogate for Avina, but you were too young and uncaring to really care about why Mana was doing this. But there’s always some people taking offense to what others are doing, and none did this better than that damn squad of Hunters, three of time coming to investigate the ‘’magic pool’’ and making sure there wasn’t to be any taint, going as far as putting their nose where it didn’t belong, apparently your mother was working on something very important, but it was her assistant that literally shooed them away from the labs with exploding… things, probably alchemy. >cont
That also meant one thing: You were not to see Avina for her own security, but you didn’t had time to warn her either and knowing how stubborn the girl is… So here you are, right during midday, sneaking out of the college because rumors is, those people have been in the forest since the early morning. However you don’t exactly remember, after all it’s far back… did you sneak off alone? Did you try to hide your trail? How did you proceed? (Each choice and speech will inevitably be warped since; in this case, the protagonist is 14 years old)
>>19506413>1st friendDefinitely alone>Heard of hunters in the forestThis all but mandates a 'drop everything and run to the forest'. So no hiding of trail. Too concerned with other stuff.
>>19506413Sneaked off alone. Did try to hide the trail and proceeded by looking for Avina wherever they normally met.
>>19506454This
This wouldn’t be the first time you jumped out of your schedule and beside; you had the perfect excuse to give to your mom: you were concerned for Avina. If they’d find you with her then all the damn better, you know how to defend yourself and they won’t kill a full blooded male like you, you’ll just shield her with your body.…Thinking back on it, you really are the self-sacrificing sort aren’t you? A very agitated and angry boy back then, but this incident revealed a true part of your character. Still you do remember sneaking out and it did managed to keep your agitated emotions from warping your intention, thus you got out without incident and headed right for the forest without alerting a single soul, in retrospect maybe that was a mistake.Ah but that’s all in the past…After walking for a moment you did picked up some magic, an incessant clash of it, your curiosity won you over for an instant and you stepped out of the forest only to feel nothing, when you stepped back, this magical battle was going on strong. And so you feared the worst and charged ahead only to come face to face with an elderly woman, dressed in a long, heavy coated robe to ward off the cold with a walking staff, the fight could clearly be felt amidst the dense trees but the hag was unmoving.Yes this damn woman… you remember her voice being hoarse like some kind of broken door and she ordered you to go back for a student had no business there. There a brief blank however, you can’t exactly remember what you did…
>>19506623Anything of note that we see in the surroundings?
>>19506691Trees and snow, there absolutely nothing to see beside the woman barring the path of young siggy.
>>19506713Appear to do so.Then circle around the woman, onto our objective. The trees should be sufficient to cover our alternative approach.
>>19506623Go back out of sight and than take an alternate path past her, using the forest to cover us from her line of sight. Also, I know Siggy didn't see her in the present time but how old was she when Slyphis saw her?
>>19506761She seemed to be in her late thirties/early fourtyAlso Its Sylphis, I really wonder how you guys got to call her Slyphis, did I do some error?
>>19506780>checks that ive been making that error loads.Huh. Should have told us we were spelling it wrongly.
>>19506780I guess I just started saying it wrong in my head and have been spelling it like that since. And how old does evil woman appear now roughly?
>>19506780I blame dyslexia (or stupidity either/or)
You remember trying to fool her, the foliage in the area was extremely heavy and you were rather small, squeezing through some part was something easy but she seemed to be guarding the clearing where you and Avina liked to meet…You were growing increasingly worried, you took the long way around to make certain to not come face to face with that old hag, time inevitably marched on and you became increasingly worried, thus prone to mistake and in the end you dropped the charade and simply sprinted to the clearing while the woman screamed for you to come back, it would seem you DID manage to sneak past.At least that’s how you remember it, but this next part…You contain a sigh, one of the meeting went flawlessly and now the regent is taking a small recess, but you are too lost in nostalgia to really care for now. The small details on how you came upon the area the Yuki-Oona liked the nestled in are truly forgotten but what you do remember is the dramatic vision of two of the Hunters, one a man channeling some kind of spell for his palm is facing toward the sky, several glitter of gold dust falling from his palm and the other…A tall blond woman, armed with a single sword, who entered her Focus and, with a smile that appeared impish to you instead of proud, was facing your friend crumpled on the floor, her fair, pale blue skin leaking fluid of silvers.‘’And so the filth stopped resisting?’’Her voice was strong and taunting and even now, in the chair on the land of Zipangu, your teeth grit.To find and cleanse monsters and they’re filth is the motto of the Hunters but what happen next was dramatic enough for the blond whore swung her sword toward your crumpled, exhausted friend, all around in the clearing lie the marking of an intense magical fight.
>>19506896Oh that was the age Belvedere seemed to have when Sylphis encountered her, in the flashback its about... nearly a decade before the present day, give or take.
>>19506928Focus. Fire ice spikes against the hunters around avina to get them to retreat out of the way and rush forward to block the hunters with out body.
>>19506982I'm going to agree with that. We're rather hot headed about this sort of thing aren't we?
>>19506982SecondedDon't worry about killing focus on protecting Avina.
>>19507058Siggy was still young.
>>19507069Even now, when Sylphis was in danger, we blew the door down and rushed out to where she was.Siggy still hasn't changed.
>>19507083Agreed. Every time we try to play it cool someone gets in trouble and we come down on the offender with the subtlety of an avalanche.
>>19507083"Never shall I abandon a friend in need, I will always stand by their side even if it should mean my death."Does this sound like some thing Siggy would say.
>>19507111>>19507141It does. And I now realise this tendency will make siggy a terrible commander in the war to come. The moment someone is in terrible danger, he and his unit will be rushing over.
>>19507181True but you can't hate him for it.
>>19507181INH better not end up having people start lying to Siggy about how other people are doing on battlefields just so he focuses on what he's doing and then they end up dying.
Hm… well charging might have been a bad idea but then again such vision made your body and mind unite for a single purpose and that was to make sure those murderous assholes would get the hell away from your friend, so you sprang right at the moment the old hag returned, but you were already full of magic by this point and there was only a brief moment of confusion as all pair of eyes fell on your charging silhouette, bellowing.‘’GEEEEEEEEEEEEET OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT’’ In one week, Avina did teach you how to launch projectile effectively and boy did you deliver, you literally spent yourself right then and there, burying the whole squad in shard as long as your arm, launched in continuous and unending assault, enough to cover your whole run to your friend who was still alive and well, clutching a nasty cut to her abdomen and she even joined for a moment, but her magic was much more potent: while your spikes crashed against the shields of the three hunters and forced them back, a wave of blue crystal sprang from Avina and literally exploded, shattering a piece of the magical screen but the woman, this blond wench, hacked away your projectile in midair before repositioning herself but that was enough, you were already at Avina side whose breathing was heavy, tired and looked at you with unfocused eyes. You remember her voice, oh yes, she asked you in a fearful voice. ‘’Why are you here?’’ But you couldn’t answer you were much too busy in regaining your breath and fighting the incredible mental fatigue, your potential wasn’t entirely unlocked back then after all…So the one to support you was the wounded Yuki-Oona, her cold touch was welcoming; it felt alive and precious compared to the snow. You really remember this part in incredible details, right down to the fresh smell of the forest.>cont
>>19507181Ah, but that can also be a good thing. Having a mobile reserve is a huge advantage in warfare, especially on the defensive. That advantage is increased when your opponent doesn't know the strength and effectiveness of your reserves.
>>19507208>Feed me more ideas, friendThe only man of the group had to drop his palm from the sky, interrupting whatever spell he was doing, but the three Hunters were simply looking at you, with the tall blond woman at the forefront scowling. ‘’What’s this, a boy lost to the corruption? What the hell are you trying to accomplish here, the business of the Order and the Church are beyond the authority of the mages here’’ As she stepped, Avina hissed like a cat and sent another crystal wave flying, but that was fruitless for it came crashing upon the strong magical shield wielded by the woman.‘’Siggy, please leave…’’The tired voice of your friend is crystal clear in your memories; she wasn’t clutching her wounded abdomen, simply ignoring the clear fluids falling out of her as she looked at the Hunters, but you remember one of them, the man saying.‘’Our magic has been sensed, someone in Focus has entered the forest’’ What did you attempt to do?
>>19507208You are just tempting INH to turn this into alternative.I want to hate you to death.
>>19507221Summon fog. Lots of thick fog.The princess carry Avina out of here. We know this part of the forest, we should be able to get around partially blind. Also, INH. NOPENOPENOPE
>>19507221Seal her wound with ice and skate on out.
>>19507229I can't help it. The memories are too fresh to ignore. It's fine - I don't think anyone bonded to Siggy can block it without us knowing.>>19507221I don't think there is much he really could do in this situation other than blast away with his magic as best as he can. Trying to pick Avina up and drag her away is just asking to get stabbed in the back.
>>19507265Perform the bridal carry
>>19507208That is stupid. It'd happen ONCE and then he'd never trust the others again. You don't go undermining the trust placed in you during a war. Especially when the one trusting you has the incredibly rare gift of eating corruption and Holy energy alike.
>>19507287iknowthatfeelbro.jpgRemember there are things you need to do, that only you can do.>>19507316Exactly.It happens once.
>>19507287I still think it would be best to run away
>>19507391If the fog plan works, than yeah let's try that and run with Avina.
Back then, hell even now, stubbornness is part of you. Even if you were hopelessly outclassed, you didn’t bow down, Avina was standing while you were at your knees on the frozen snow, two of the Hunters approaching while the third one formed the rear guard, probably to intercept the oncoming mage, and you just thought how to get the girl out of here.‘’I’ll get what I want, I’m greedy’’That was your answer, Avina looked to you in confusion and then you unleashed a new trick, casting power into water, escaping from your body was a thick vapor of fog, one that stayed and reduced visibility in but a few seconds. But you didn’t have those seconds, because the woman, with her sword in her hand, struck supported by the man whom magic of gold cleared a path in your efforts. You resist a sigh…Belvedere aimed for you, but even then it was a mind game, her strong shield resisted the Yuki-Oona crystal blast and so, in your weakened, overcasted kneeling state, you could only watch death approach blade first, only to be interrupted by the smaller body of the girl who took the charge head on, skewered by the weapon in one swoop, her silver blood staining your face, the blade coming out of her back even grazed you.‘’G-Go…’’She couldn’t talk as her mouth filled with fluids, but Avina stood her ground, her knees didn’t falter as her magic of ice exploded, launched spikes at her front and wave of crystal, a prodigious display of magic that forced the two hunters to huddle together and combine strength, the magical shield became a glittering gold that started to crack, the blue crystals striking with the force of cannons. But then the girl finally fell, clutching the sword and her sobs of pain, horror and shock froze you on the spot.
>>19507470That whore.KILLI don't care if we burn out our magic circuits or what not.KILL
>>19507470We have a really bad score on saving people don't we...
>>19507520Yeah, I don't think young Siggy would act any other way at this point.
>>19507530Not only did we fail to save her, we might have been the reason she ended up the way she did since she put herself in the way of something that would have killed us.
>>1950747010/10 I think I just popped a blood vessel.
>>19507470Wait, have we tried freezing someones blood yet? Nows the time to try! 'I'll never leave my friends. Never!'
What a fine, diligent woman this Belvedere is, doing God's work.
>Mist is a phenomenon of small droplets suspended in airKnowing that let's surround her with a mist and try to freeze her with it.
>>19507554We can't do that.
>>19507703I know we can't, doesn't mean we can't try. Then again turing the mist pointy would be fun as well.
Right now when you think about it, you feel only anger and sadness, but back then, when Avina was clutching the weapon, crying and moaning softly, shock simply overtook everything. You even lost mastery of your own talent, you hand were encased in ice as you looked at your precious friend, your own face tear stained. But retribution came much, much quicker than one would expect and now that you are merely remembering and not reliving… The blond woman walked to you, but she stopped and looked back, for the old hag had… intercepted the coming mage.‘’I am afraid that I must interrupt your progress, the Order is accomplishing its dutyAh but I am here in search of a runaway student, he tends to like coming here…’’You didn’t cross eye with the incomer, but the voice was more than enough: Mana Shieffer. You remember the two hunters turning to look at her, the present menace was now all but over after all.‘’Exterminating monster?’’The old hag answered with a nod and your mother nodded back, going ‘’I see, I see…’’And not a second later, an incredibly powerful and loud explosion was projected, a shower of sparks and flames fell upon the two faraway Hunters that were forced to shield themselves once again, but the old hag was not so fortunate, for she slammed against a tree with the force of a ballista and yet Mana Shieffer followed through a mist the disappearing flames, her hand aimed for the head even as the woman was hopelessly maimed, a large gout of magmatic heat emerged from your mother palm and slammed upon the Hunter face, all but crushing her skull as the impossible heat of hell scorched her skin.
Yet, even with this incredible heat during the winter, no soil or tree caught a fire, all the flame simply disappeared once they were unneeded. ‘’Do you have ANY idea what the hell you people have just done?’’Mana Shieffer smile was wicked and pissed, so incredibly pissed that she could only smile to present her anger as her hands twitched in uncontained, nervous wrath.‘’WOMAN!’’The man bellowed, clearly pissed off too, his hand were grabbing a spear of pure, golden light. ‘’Killing an agent of the Order on duty is ground for execution!’’But he was met with the most arrogant, crystal laugh someone could muster.‘’I wanted to bring this girl back home, you understand? Adopt her, groom her to be the perfect wife for my son, but no, no you just had to accomplish that…’’Again, Mana laughed, you never saw her like that, but the anger was so strong she could only laugh, her veins were glowing crimsons. And what followed was the most one sided confrontation you ever witnessed.
>>19507788Everytime I see that image I have to remind myself that siggy's mum isn't the BEST MOTHER EVER.
>>19507796Holy shitSiggy's mom is stomping them
>>19507844Its kind of the reason why I like posting it
>Adopt her, groom her to be the perfect wife for my sonWhy would she even want to do that in a land of apparently rampant xenophobia and institutionalized monster hunting?
>>19507879Maybe she didn't plan on staying in those lands and was going to take them where it would be acceptable? Guess we'll never know now unless that golem will have some of her memories or not.
>>19507879Because Mana Shieffer was a bit of a unique undividual. She was the strongest mage of the era, that amount of pure brute strenght actually weight a ton when a single person is comparable to the Great Heroes.
>>19507879Because she could. Might makes right and all that. And Avina was the first to crack Siggy's shell. Thats something special there.
>>19507879More powerful bloodline. Also;>Wife for my son>we lost not just a friend but a fiance before >our eyes, and its partially our fault.
>>19507947Yeah, ain't that quite the kick in the balls.
>>19507900Also Mana plain liked the girl, its selfish to show favoritism in bringing a orphan home but she seriously didn't cared.
>>19507907>Might makes rightUnderstandable, if stupid reasoning in the long run. Piss in the garden ponds of enough people and it doesn't matter how strong you are individually.
>>19507796Right, is there more to this INH or are you waiting for something from us?
>>19507988Pretty much, but she was more on the emotional side rather than cool headed and calculating.Beside seeing the scene of your son and his friend more or less on the border of death kind of induce a lot of anger.
>>19508019I'm writting the next part
>>19507947>its partially our faultUnless Mana arrived earlier I'm fairly sure Avina would have been toast no matter what Siggy did.
>>19508038No.We waffled about too much at the start, trying to play it 'smart' by covering our tracks and sneaking.1) Covering our tracks -> mum doesn't know we left until later2) It also takes up time making sure we have an alibi and all that.3) trying to sneak past the woman also cost us timeImagine if we ran straight out to Avina. With her and our magic at full strength, we could have stalled the church hunters or made our escape before Mana arrived, faster than what we just had.
>>19508091Or maybe not, after all Avina is dead in Siggy's present.
>>19508091One thing is for sure - Siggy has a lot of practice to do before he can do anywhere near the damage his mother could.
>>19508091Good point
The clash was all it took, it would seem the man was close to the now deceased agent for he charged with Belvedere following close behind, the woman didn’t had the time to take out the sword and beside, you wouldn’t have let her because, even in your amazement, you were starting to get a grip on reality. Your mother simply sent forward a staggering pillar of magmatic fire, launched like one would a projectile the thing was twice her size and thrice her weight, large enough to cover 5 meter of the horizon. A show of pure, simple and brutish might that stopped the two Hunters right on their track.‘’BELVEDERE, GET DOWN’’The man screaming, he pushed his two hands forward and formed yet another golden shield, in your studies you learned that those things are incredibly potent in stopping magical attack, right down to being considered a hard counter. But then the flame grew more compact, and running right in it was your mother, completely unaffected, you heard Belvedere utter a curse, but when a moan from Avina was heard, you let go of the scene for a single seconds. But in that moment, the shield of the male mage were shattered when the magma crashed and he could only utter a scream some part of him… melted, scorched, burned in the most horrific death your mother could inflict on another man, and from the large pillar, Mana charged right upon the crouching Belvedere who stood up, but then formed a shield to stop a whip of flame from the running arch mage, and again brute force won: a pillar of flame forced Belvedere to shield herself upward and form there she was tackled. And just like that, three Hunters were vanquished.>cont
…You do remember you mother… taking out her anger upon the woman, scarring her skin for as long as she would live and leaving her alive, so that she can speak and warp the tale all she want, but the Church will find no ally with the strongest mage in the world. Your mother is a very scary person when truly angered, but her love for you was as genuine as can be. Part of you doesn’t want to remember how… Avina passed away; remembering all of this sparked your own flame of hatred: Belvedere almost killed Sylphis.
>>19508150>>19508091I normally don't go for revenge but in this caseKILL THE BITCH!
>>19508150As much as we love our mother, she made a mistake. She left behind an example when another corpse would have been more efficient. We won't make that mistake, either a foe is to be turned or killed. There is no reason to leave such threats to come after us again.
>>19508211Mistake that came to bite you in the ass, but do y ou guys want to continue, or be spared of the young, courageous Avina last moments?
>>19508190Think of it as pre-emptive. She's going to continue killing people important to us, so we're just going to have to kill her before she gets the opportunity. Before we finish the bitch, I suppose we should make it a point to remind her that our mother let her off easy the first time she tried to kill someone we cared about, and that she wasted her life by repeating her mistake. No third chances.
>>19508238We'll live through the last moments. We won't run away from our memories.
>spared of the young, courageous Avina last moments?Give me your worst! If it doesn't hurt, it doesn't count.
>>19508238Continue.Even if the memory hurts, just forgetting it would not do.It is one of the final records and proof that she lived in this world.
>>19508238continue
>>19508258I think we shouldn't even give her the satisfaction, you know? Just treat her like; 'Oh you expect me to remember every rapid bitch I put down?' Kill shot
>>19506120Hmmm...INH, for "The strangest encounter of your life", when did this occur? As in when siggy was a kid or?
>>19508366It occured near the end of your Butcher phase, it ties in with the end of the persona.
>>19508451Hmmm.... Hawww..... I see.
>>19508488If you want to go to child/shota Siggy, then the first option is what you want.
>>19508513No, was just rereading some stuff and I think I have an idea of who we meet in that encounter.
>>19508546Speak your mind
‘’Siegfried, are you okay?’’The Tanuki is now sitting next to you, another recess, and another noble in the bag, her tail catch your eyes but when you meet her eye to eyes, she suddenly blush and excuse herself with a cough, then go sit with the regent. What was that about? At least you weren’t crying, but Avina wound…The sword had pierced her stomach and her silver blood was flowing continually down the blade, over the hilt, traveling the pommel then gorging the snow before freezing over, her breaths were small, pained and fatigued as she lay crumpled down, her hair as white as Hadraniel wings covered her face, but the small girl suddenly looked up, her tear stained face… smiled as she looked up to you.‘’I’m sorry…’’A cough and more of this silver blood fall. ‘’I-I can’t freeze this over… it hurt too much.’’The only thing you find yourself able to do is shake, the fear of killing her if you touch your friend is rooting you on the spot, and you only look at her, paralyzed, but then the sound of running and heavy breathing… your monster almost launch yourself on the ground to come at your level.‘’Avina! Avina!’’>cont
She doesn’t touch the Yuki-Oona, actually, the eyes of your mother fall to the feet of the lady of snow and you follow: right there, the feet of your friend are frozen over and… and melting.‘’it’s okay, Mana, I’m… it’s okayNo it’s not!’’Your mother eyes are glossy, full of tears ready to fall and you can’t help but feel your heart tighten even now, in the chair. Mana cared for your friend, in her own way. But the young Yuki-Oona simply smile, the ice at her feet was moving frighteningly fast in covering her body, leaving a shell of dull crystal before disappearing, melting. ‘’I-I won’t be… gone maybe, I don’t… know but thank you, mama, thank you Siggy.’’ Then the young girl coughed another spurt of silver blood, crumpled on the ground, froze over and disappeared, her form melting on the ground, leaving absolutely no trace.--Finally over, necessary but a pain in the ass nonetheless, still the alliance is ready to start and the army has enough nobles willing to come forward, that’ll have a domino effect on those far from the capital, but levying the troops might take some time, nonetheless this would be coalition truly does seem to have a future and for now, you finally have free time.
>>19508588Part of the fun is the unknown factor.I'll hold my tongue for now.(I also hate being wrong but thats just me)>>19508616There should be a balcony, time to get some fresh air for a moment.
>>19508616Just time to sit and cuddle the centapede child. I doubt she'll mind and I think Siggy might need one.
‘’I’ll be going on ahead, I don’t think you need me for these last documents’’You lazily sprout from your chair, you see Tanu ears twitch and resist the urge to squeeze them but the tanuki is bound by her duty, she’s going to effectively become the spymaster and that require some documents, and you also have the sneaking suspicious she’s avoiding you.Still, you exit the room and start to walk aimlessly, no balcony in the area, beside the courtyard is just outside and when you exist, you fill your lung with good, fresh autumnal air from the evening, today morning was rather eventful… but then you had to go and remember some painful part of your past.At the very least you have one; right now your amnesia is selective instead of total. Then you spot Keldran speaking to two young men, obviously his captain, but the whole area is ripe with activity: the police force are drilling hard, it’s obvious your companions won’t hang around the area, too much noise and people.
>>19508831Lets chat up Keldran then.Bet he hasn't spoken to his daughter yet. Should make sure the two have the chance for a good talk before we leave.
>>19508871I second this action
>>19508831Damn I guess we should do something productive and be responsible. Go find out whats going on with Keldran.
>>19508871Seconding talking to Keldran , but perhaps stuff concerning Sylphis could wait until the whole police force doesn't get the chance to overhear it.
>>19508871Agreed good sir.
It’s with a sour mood that you approach the elder, it seem they’re talking into how to properly introduce the police into the army and debating if they’ll stay in the capital as a defense force or actually sent out in the battlefield , argument are sent back and forth and overall, the discussion is heavy and each men seem to enjoy it, even if it’s serious, one of the two is the men with a ponytail that give you the potion of vampirism, the other is someone austere that place very few words in the back and forth, but his hand glide over the pommel of his thin sword when he see you before nodding.Keldran nod to you, stroking his beard.‘’Haven’t had the chance to say it, but good work, not sure what you did to rustle up those agents but you sent they’re whole operation down the drain’’For some reason the man with a ponytail scowl while looking at his superior.Your interruption seem to be a queue however, the silent man simply walk away without as much as a goodbye.
>>19508958I hope I haven't interupted your discussion gentlemen.
>>19508958"The luck of the devil, as it were. If that handmaiden hadn't been so sloppy, we might not have caught this ring. Your force also did most of the leg work, running the fleeing agents to the ground. If I may offer a observation. Guard units are terribly unsuited for the frontlines due to the nature of their training and the conditions at the front. I believe the force would best serve as a garrison, police and counter-espionage role. Though perhaps if you do wish to aid the effort, some of your more combat specialised units could be utilised as rapid-reaction troops to bolster ailing parts of the line.Sir Keldran, if you have the time, I would like to speak with you privately for a moment."
>>19509073This sums up all I wanted to mention quite well.
‘’Did I interrupt anything?’’ You ask tentatively, but Keldran shake his head with a smile.‘’Mere debate, the fact that the war is coming is almost out of the bag now so, at least me and my captains, are starting to be a bit nervous and running these girls here a bit harder’’ Each of the person present are beast-monster, wielding spears, forming columns, then changing into square, facing forward, then backward, an effective and simple discipline drill, but your eyes is knowing and those monsters seem coordinated enough. "The luck of the devil, as it were. If that handmaiden hadn't been so sloppy, we might not have caught this ring. Your force also did most of the leg work, running the fleeing agents to the ground.’’The man nod to you, stroking his beard some more, his eyes on you as you take a place next to him.‘’Luck is important, your very precise may very well have been the cause of her error, after all a new agent coming out of nowhere involving themselves with your objective is bound to make anyone nervous, still we only caught a corpse and not a live target…’’He shakes his head, what is done is done. ‘’If I may offer an observation. Guard units are terribly unsuited for the frontlines due to the nature of their training and the conditions at the front. I believe the force would best serve as a garrison, police and counter-espionage role. Though perhaps if you do wish to aid the effort, some of your more combat specialized units could be utilized as rapid-reaction troops to bolster ailing parts of the line.’’Your words are long, but your speech flow out smoothly and both of the men listen intently, even the scowl of the captain in ponytail soften somewhat.>cont
‘’Of course I see your point, we’ve been tasked with the security of the capital after all, but the police force is also, in itself, a military organization, each of our members tend to have a past as a mercenary or soldiers under one of the different nobles, we’ll start outfitting the armors to them soon as well, it’s just that glory, my friend, is something to be sought in these times. ‘’Hunger for renown? Keldran, hell each of the captains, don’t strike you as some kind of impatient men ready to have the ones they lead killed for some kind of hollow victory brought by this would be glory, but his speech is dangerous, very much so. ‘’Sir Keldran, if you have the time, I would like to speak with you privately for a moment."For a moment the glare the man in the ponytail give you is hard, but you simply nod to him, to which he reply with his own and off he goes, your statement was more than enough to chase him.‘’Don’t mind him, he may look angry all the time but that’s how he is normally, anyway let’s go inside the barrack, I think we both could use a drink.’’And so you enter, a cat folk servant bring a small pitch of clear liquid that smell sweat, but strong when going down your throat, but there’s enough of the alcohol to really make one drunk.‘’So, what do you have to ask me, ambassador?’’
>>19509272What if anything are you intending to do with your daughter. I don't believe she is aware of the family connection as of yet and if you prefer I will never mention it to her.
>>19509272"I understand you've been rather busy, first rooting out the remnants of the spy ring and then now, preparing for war. However it also means there is no other time or better time, than now.Sir Keldran, do you intend to tell sylphis about your relationship or even speak to her before we leave this city? I do not believe she knows but she is your daughter; and she has a right to know who her father is.">i really need to stop participating half-drunk

>>19509390>>19509352Its a bit suprising Siggy isn't an alcoholic by this point

>>19509411Who needs alchohol when you have fluffy tails/ears?
>>19509481Well think of it this way: when a mage enter Focus, the toxins in his body are killed/get rid of.That goes for alcohol, in essence, mages can't really go drunk. Also >mfw I failed to give feels today
>>19509534There is always next time.
>>19509534insertname dont feel bad. I cried a little at Avina's death. You have still got it.
>>19509534>when a mage enter Focus, the toxins in his body are killed/get rid ofTotally forgot about that...>feelsYou have given us rage and despair, this day.
>>19509534I think you accomplished that with the feels. Trust me.>Can't get drunk. We must pretend to be a drunken warrior at some point and fuck shit up.
"I understand you've been rather busy, first rooting out the remnants of the spy ring and then now, preparing for war. However it also means there is no other time or better time, than now.’’You finish your glass in one swing, the alcohol goes down fast and smooth, you’ve never been much of a drinker really, but remembering Avina today… well you won’t blame yourself for a bit of liquid courage. You miss your mother too.‘’Sir Keldran, do you intend to tell Sylphis about your relationship or even speak to her before we leave this city? I do not believe she knows but she is your daughter; and she has a right to know who her father is."You say in a heavy tone, looking at the man without blinking, you know your stare is heavy and Keldran let out a long, tired sigh and stay silent for a good moment, in which he down the rest of the alcohol.‘’Can’t say I was expecting that’’He grunt and rub his face, no doubt this was a very touchy subject.‘’I’m just… not sure how to go about it, hell she’s 5 years old and fully grown already, frankly she turned out fine, I don’t think she’d need me, or the unneeded pressure I’d give her’’The man stops talking and simply watch hid goblet.‘’I don’t really care how you know, but I can’t imagine myself a father, too old, and with my job…’’
>>19509605Oh mage CAN be drunk, but the moment you enter focus to fling shit, the alcohol essentially evaporate, this make killing mages pretty tricky since poisons are almost always ineffective.
>>19509609Don't worry INH. You've still achieved your objective with Avina."Knowing who her father is might not be as bad as you think it would be for her. Family is always important and her knowing she still has family could mean a lot for her. Especially with how close she came to dying."
>>19509609Its not like this will suddenly completely change your life. You'll just have one more person who looks up to you, who might want to forge the familial bond that she never had a chance at. Its something you are both owe to your selves to at the very least try.
>>19509646Anger can be useful in battle, but not impatience. Sylphis is still too reckless in battle: maybe knowing that she has a father who still cares about her on top of ourselves may make her less reckless with her life. That will make her a much better fighter.
>>19509609"Yes, she is fine young woman. Skillful, courageous and a little reckless. Though still somewhat childish is some ways. She has grown attached to a lizard warrior, looking up to her as an elder sister but she still lacks a parent figure in her life; from what I understand, she was not able to spend much time with her mother before she passed away. I do not believe it would hurt for her to know that her father is still around and loves her deeply.I must admit I do not know to go about being a parent myself. However, perhaps you could start off by telling her more about her mother. Tell her more about how the two of you met and in doing so, let her know more about you. From there I believe it should come naturally."
"Knowing who her father is might not be as bad as you think it would be for her. Family is always important and her knowing she still has family could mean a lot for her. Especially with how close she came to dying."Another sigh come out of the man and he start rubbing his beard, his whisper of ‘’family’’ actually squeeze your heart, but that’s mostly because your own family is nowhere to be found beside your brother: King of the North, your mother and uncle are dead… ‘’It’s not like this will suddenly completely change your life. You'll just have one more person who looks up to you, who might want to forge the familial bond that she never had a chance at.’’You start, but your words are certainly making him very uncomfortable and he simply stay silent, if there would have been more alcohol all of it would have been gone by now for sure. ‘’It’s something you are both owe to your selves to at the very least try.’’He simply frowns while looking at you, his long silence however, finally break.‘’I never thought myself a father, young man, but shouldn’t you be comforting her after she came so close to dying? I don’t know what your relationship with her is, but what I do know is that she kept saying your name during your… crisis, back in the alley. If anything you are much more fit as support as I’ll ever be’’He looks at his hand, slightly calloused and worn. ‘’This war will be an ugly one, its best she’s free of the burden I’d place on her’’Time for another strategy, you can’t exactly hide what you’re going to do, but… bah. >cont
She has grown attached to a lizard warrior, looking up to her as an elder sister but she still lacks a parent figure in her life; from what I understand, she was not able to spend much time with her mother before she passed away. I do not believe it would hurt for her to know that her father is still around and loves her deeply.’’Keldran say nothing, he simply stares at the wooden, decorated table. ‘’I must admit I do not know to go about being a parent myself. However, perhaps you could start off by telling her more about her mother. Tell her more about how the two of you met and in doing so; let her know more about you. From there I believe it should come naturally."Your uncle told you how your mother was during her pregnancy, and afterward how she was when you were much too young to form any kind of memories: she wasn’t the loving woman you remember during that time, but she grew from there, surely knowing how her mother was before Sylphis was born… would be something helpful.‘’Part of me is getting frustrated, young man’’Keldran say with a heavy, angry sigh.‘’I’m not sure why you are rubbing your nose in family business, but as far as I’m concerned it never existed, if Sylphis is as strong as you say she is, then she’ll manage just fine on her own’’And with that, the man get up, put a hand on the pommel of his sword, give you a bow and walk out with heavy step.
>>19509887Welp its getting late, fucked up part of the speech buts its an obvious copy paste from >>19509773
>>19509887Well that went poorly. Don't see how we'll convince him otherwise. Perhaps we should go check on Sylphis now then.
>>19509887That went... not so well. At least it'll be on his mind more and he'll keep thinking about it.Maybe at a much later date we might bring it up.I think we've tarried enough, is the Regent and Tanu still upstairs? Perhaps we should head back up.
>>19510008>>19509984So, checking up on the regent and Tanuya, or a visit to Sylphis?
Eesh not a good day for us it seems.
>>19509887I say we go find Sylphy an spend some time with her.>>19510008You must have a folder full of those images.
>>19509984>>19510008Honestly, I just got caught up and I don't even understand why you guys pushed this one. From my view point it helps no one but Siegfried feel 'good' about himself. Neither them have had contact with each other and we've potentially missed with Keldrans head when truthfully we need him at top of his game with a war inbound. My two cents at least.
>>19510059Siggy isn't perfect, but I wouldn't really say it was so he can feel good about himself, its just that he lost his parent, and since his mother was a great person it hurt a damn lot, doesn't want that thrust upon Syl
Go see Sylphis
>>19510088I still think it was bad idea just from standpoint of timing.
>>19510146True.Road to hell is paved with good intention and what not
And so here you are, alone, having pushed away Keldran whom now will, without any doubt, mull this over. But this is out of your hands, the man that revealed this fact to you, you see him pass in the hallway and when you finally exit, he and his superior are in an argument that moves to a room. What was that about? Still, the business with the regent is mostly concluded, they won’t need your help to continue so you resolve to visit Sylphis, not that you’re going to drop the bomb upon her, that just wouldn’t feel right. --You enter with a knock, the link already told you that Hadraniel was with the Mantis and you spot the angel immediately, she’s sitting on the bed, with Sylphis awaken and sitting, but it seem each breath she take is painful, she’ll need to be fully healed once you get back home. Both of them greet you and almost immediately come the remark.‘’Siegfried, you’ve been feeling a rather unusual amount of… sadness? Are you sure you’re alright?’’The Hero inquires, walking to you while you simply try to avoid her gaze, oh strange, Bletsia isn’t anywhere in sight…
>>19510146Maybe but we have no clue when we can talk to the guy again. And doing it when the war has started is probably an even worse idea than now.
>>19510197"Just going over some old memories is all...nothing to worry yourself about.Odd, if you're here where's Bletsia?"
>>19510259Second.
>>19510259Also see how Sylphis is doing. Don't know why I forgot that.
"Just going over some old memories is all...nothing to worry yourself about.’’However your statement cause a frown upon the angel who immediately look down, a small whisper of ‘’I see’’ floating from her mouth, you can feel curiosity coming from the both of them, and of course empathy. Those girls really care too much. ‘’Odd, if you're here where's Bletsia?"This question cause a small laugh to escape from the mantis, immediately followed by a cough and a grunt of pain, forcing both you and Hadraniel to approach the girl in concern but she shake her head and rub her tummy gently.‘’It’s okay, I’m okay, I’ll be good to fight once… we have too’’A small flap of wings comes from Hadraniel and then you catch a hint of embarrassment.‘’She’s with the Queen, Rhy. I don’t know why but it seemed Bletsia took the fancy of hiding during the day so I had to look for her, but apparently she invited herself in the queen room and well, there was a bit of a uproar with the mantis but it seem they had fun in… in fawning over the both of them.’’Hadraniel stop, a small smile on her face.‘’The queen is incredibly shy, but Bletsia is very honest, I think they may very well become good friend’’
>>19510332"I hope you're right Hadraniel. The treaty with the Regent is going well, so I imagine we'll be able to leave soon."Is Hadraniel looking better? Wonder if the old taint's effects are no longer bothering her.
>>19510332"Then I think it'd be best if we don't disturb them."
Ask Sylphis and Hadraniel if they are feeling better.
>>19510332'Also while I'm up would either of you ladies like any thing from the kitchens? I can send for a maid to bring you some fruit if you like Sylphis.'
"I hope you're right Hadraniel. The treaty with the Regent is going well, so I imagine we'll be able to leave soon."She nod to you and now you realize that she doesn’t have her helmet on, nor her spear: both of them lie on the only desk of the room, it’s good to see her more relaxed, especially after what happened this morning.‘’Tomorrow is the most likely I presume, preparation are already being made for departing at dawn, I think they may even move the… construct found in the headquarter of those rogues’’Hadraniel speak softly, Sylphis simply stay completely silent and look at you.‘’I see, the two of you are feeling good I presume?’’You take a spot near the angel, the small, constant flap of her wings create a very comfortable breeze in the room devoid of windows.‘’Both me and Sylphis are well, out friend can walk well enough with a bit of help, I’m here to make sure she doesn’t get bored’’Then Hadraniel give Sylphis a stare.‘’But I’m not sure I’m helping very much’’But then, out of nowhere, Sylphis cut in.‘’Siggy, please cheer up, okay?’’…What? Do you really look that down?
>>19510523Wrap an arm around both girls. 'I'm cheering up as we speak' *smile*
>>19510523"I'll try Sylphis. I've just been thinking about my mother and my childhood a little, back when I was in school. I suppose I should have been paying more attention to current events rather than reminiscing."
>>19510556tell them more about our past while we're at it
>>19510523If we don't have any duties currently, just stay on the bed and chat with them.
>>19510675Agreed. Little down time until we're needed again would be nice.
>>19510523Finding out how soft Hadraniel's wings are might cheer us up.
"I'll try Sylphis. I've just been thinking about my mother and my childhood a little, back when I was in the college. I suppose I should have been paying more attention to current events rather than reminiscing."Suddenly bringing up your past seem to have installed a heavy mood, a sudden embarrassment come from both of them and of course hesitation, but Hadraniel is the first to break it.‘’Say Siegfried.’’Her cerulean stare is nothing short of magnificent, only rivaled by the majesty of her wings and the bright gold of her hair.‘’I’m not certain if prying is something I should be doing, but are you proud of who you were back then, from what you can remember? Are you even proud of whom you are now?’’What a strange question…But you have to admit, each time your gaze was returned to you in water and glass, you were never quite able to sustain it, the person you saw in front of you was a man of many failures, and an irreparable past of butchery endorsed by the church.Still, men do not talk about they’re past easily.‘’I’m sorry, Siegfried, ignore what I said, you… I admire your resolve, you searched for who you were without being afraid of finding out.’’And of course Sylphis is completely silent, but her yellow gaze is on you, and then drift to Hadraniel with a slight frown.
>>19510745'From what I've seen, I'm not proud of what I've done. But, I changed even then I figured that something was wrong and I am glad to the depths of my heart that I did. >>19510837This works. Getting too tired to think up of things.

I might not be proud of my past actions but at the same time I will never shirk from a mirror for fear of finding a stranger looking back at me. I was and have always been the same man, my perspective has merely changed.’’You pause there for a moment, thinking you next words. Hadraniel and Sylphis are both looking at you, listening compassion and interest, you certainly not feel pressed for answer, even then, who you were back then, who you are now… this change was caused by belief and events, but did your nature itself ever change? ‘’I'm still the greedy little boy playing in the snow I was back then. I will always be wanting happiness for my friends and I never intend to stop doing my damnedest so that those around me grin.'So you say, reaching out to the angel, you knuckle rub her wings and my god its soft, heavenly and. refreshing, but you give her shoulder a slight push, she’s still in her armor after all and your statement is enough for them to send a warm emotion upon you.You did said to yourself that your lovers and friends are the fuel for your passion, and let it be known that you are guilty of greediness for wanting those close to you to laugh, smile and love. ‘’Siggy’'Suddenly, the small, distinctive voice of your mantis companion cut your musing.‘’Are you interesting in some persons back home? >>19511255The type of interest we have in these people does vary, but it is still there.A lot of them seem far more interested in us than we are in them though.
"Well, there was Reina, there were Sara and Tara who came as a pair, Kate was always great, there was Alex, I was with Kris for a while, then there were the Greene sisters, then I got back with Kate for a while..."Each names being counted on the fingers of your hands, you also mention some of the students of the college of course, and the look on the two of them is quite something, at least Hadraniel seem both scandalized and so very shy, while Sylphis is simply staring with her mouth open, giving you the most ‘’yeah sure’’ look anyone would ever muster and then with a chuckle, you reach toward the mantis and give her a small hug, causing a sudden vague of embarrassment form her while the angel stuttered a ‘’manslut’’, ah poor Hadraniel… so easy to fool. "Truthfully, I am unsure. I haven't thought about it. In some ways I'm trying not to think about it. I have a chance of dying in the next month. Being interested in people with that hanging over my head seems like a cruel thing to do."You let go of your companion, the mood now solemn once again while Hadraniel scratched her head, her embarrassment now floating away after your statement, she finally realized you were joking.‘’Fate is not absolute…’’The angel say, without looking at you and with a brief flap of her wings, you feel your hairs moving from the breeze, but she seem very serious about her statement.‘’You seem to look like a man that would have several wives, Siggy’’Sylphis cut in without any tact and you can only give her a look of amazement, this girl has some kind of talent for embarrassing you! >Aaand ending there

>>19511856Not all japan MC are moron. At least Siggy is a pro worker, nothing is more disgusting than a protagonist that doesn't deserve the title of being the main character.
>>19511881Ah yes Siggy mom, Mana.Tell you what to give some exemple on this ladder of power.Let's say the Hunters are very buffed men holding a tower shield of the best materiel, say forged by the dorf of lotr. What Siggy and Avina did was fire at it with a repeating heavy crossbow, so to speak. What Mana Shieffer did was fire at it with a goddamn cannon.
>>19511915It's okay, Siggy's older now. I'm sure he's upgraded his repeater crossbow into a cannon now that he's unlocked his potential. Also, how long did you think it'd take us to decode your scrambled message last thread?
>>19511943I took around two hours to make it, so I expected around that time, but I was honestly suprised at how eagerly you guys jumped on it
>>19511957Hey, we crit succeeded on getting info on Siggy's consumption ability. That has to drive up interest in what it could be.
>>19511988Yeah dem crit, honestly came out of nowhere. Still this consumption is going to follow you all quest, I need to think of some creative way for information and this book is mroe or less what I came up with. Not that there isn't the usual infodump character.
>>19512010We'll just go find the monster lord. I'm sure that'll be a useful infodump.
>>19512010Although if you'd really wanted to fuck us up you'd have rotary ciphered it. But that would just be mean.
>>19512055Oh man I'm so tempted to drop a huge hint right now
>>19512067Rotary ciphered? Please fill me in good sir, I enjoy such knowledge.
>>19511788Siggy shall lay claim to all the fluffyness.
>>19512071Huge hints are always good.
>>19512111Theycan also reduce potential feels
>>19512071That picture unnerves me if that's in reference to someone in this.
>>19512071Ok, what is that from?
>>19512135I feel like I don't have enough villain, so I'm trying to come up with something
>>19512075It's an encoding device where letter keys activate wires that are connected to a ring. That ring locks into another ring with letters in a different arrangement, which leads to the output. The simple way to do this is simply to shift a set number of spaces down the alphabet: a becomes b, b becomes c, and so on until z becomes a. Or, a can become d, b can become e, c can become f, et cetra. And if you jumbled sections of the paragraph the same way, assuming we didn't have a key and you didn't leave one word unjumbled for us, we'd have no way of knowing whether we had gotten the cipher correct, since it would look random even if we had it right.
>>19512166Boy that's quite vicious.Hmm maybe I could actually mke one of the books hold all the answers with a cipher as cruel as that...
>>19512156For some reason I can only think this person will be a yandere based on that pic.
>>19512184We'd never solve it then unless you gave us some hint or let a die roll solve it. Unless we become the allies of this quest and crack your enigma code.
>>19512184That's nothing. The Germans had the Enigma machine, which had multiple random rings. So even when you got one ring right, the results still looked like gibberish. Which can be cracked, with a room full of mathematical geniuses and a little luck, but I neither have the skill nor the patience for it. Like most military men of the time, my solution would be to capture a version of the machine.
>>19512198I'm afraid I'm not... smart enough for that, numbers are my bane. >>19512192We'll see won't we? Siggy party is pretty damn strong so I need something that pose a challenge.>>19512150Totally forgot, sorry
>>19512219When it's meant for "fun", there's usually a cipher key provided. Timestamps and dates are useful, for example. But still, I can't think of a single person who'd have the patience to do something that extreme, and I lack both the time and the inclination.
>>19512233Yeah I think its better if I keep with how I went, I'm taking this quest more seriously than the start of course, but its best to just have a good time. And of course causing feels
>>19512219While his party may be strong, things always seem to go horribly wrong for them. Poor Sylphis. She always seems to get hurt.
>>19512258Yeah she had it rough, at least she isn't dead, that part where she was wounded... well she came so damn close
>>19512289Which would have been so much worse in the future for Belvedere if Siggy had found out she had killed her.
>>19512314It was a bit too soon to have her die anyway, and I tought having her poisoned by the Holy was perfect: Belvedere is a vicious cunt.
>>19512341With what Mana did to her, I can see why she would. Especially since she knows Siggy was involved. The next time they see each other will be interesting.
>>19512357I'm happy for one good villain at the very least.
>>19511332>‘’You seem to look like a man that would have several wives, Siggy’’"Yes well the four of you are quite lovely."Sylphis, Lizardgirl, Hadraniel, Queen's MotherDamn I'm bad with names
