>Fate Points: 1
>Signature spells: Summon Elemental, Control Magic.
>Funds: Medium
>Location: Cerulean Province, Jormungandr

In what seems like slow motion, you look up to the gryphon above you, and you suddenly see two things; First of all- Impulse isn't riding it. And second of all... The gryphon's beak was wet and dripping with fresh blood.

You leap out of the way, and hear a savage crunch as the gryphon slams into the Jormungandr's deck, and feathers litter the ground. The gryphon lies there, neck twisted. . and then it twitches, and you feel a pulse of magic. Something significant and cloying; It had a feel similar to necromancy, but it was closer to an obscene, corrupted version of life magic. Your stomach gets nauseous, but you feel some strange. . desire.

And that's when a skeletal kalak burst from the gryphon's corpse, glimmering red sparks shooting from the sockets of his eyes, leaving trails of hovering light in the air. Something glimmered in the kalak's ribcage, embedded into the bone- a simple crude object of cold steel, something that seems like a blacksmith apprentice's first project. An ankh, almost beautiful in it's rough simplicity.

The kalak's empty eyes turned to you, and in two voices it spoke. "My master bid me to bring the Heart to her." It held out it's hand, palm up. "Return it, mortal, and I will not harm you or yours."
>>
>>19544318
ok first things first. we have to find out where that blood came from. sick some elementals on him to keep him busy, and then check on companions
>>
>>19544318
Pretend to give him the heart, but as we touch him we use our signature spell and drain his magic. all of it.
>>

Is Grayson with us? Have him maul that fucker if he is
>>
Talk to the heart. It has its own mind and can teleport wherever it wants right? Therefore "I do not own the heart and I can not choose where it will go." would be the truth?
>>
"I do not own the heart, and I cannot choose where it will go." You say, looking around for allies- there's Ell on the other side of the ship, his gauntlet raised and prepared. Behind you, there are Nahzit's two brothers, glaives in hand. Nobody else is on the ship.

"I will give you one more chance." The kalak says, the twin voices speaking in unison. "Give me the heart, mortal."
>>
>>19544379
I still think we should do >>19544344

Oh god it was Uriel. Poor guy. Well the obvious thing is to knock that ankh out of his chest.

>>
rolled 53 = 53

We're getting incredibly pissed off with this.

Summon elementals. Wrath and wood (from the deck).

Also teleport away to different point on the ship using the Heart.

Cast divination spell to determine what the heart is
>>
You take the heart off of the chain at your neck, and then you walk over, and start to place it on his palm. . but with your other hand, you grip his wrist tightly, and try to drain his magic. .

But there is no magic in him.

You pull the heart back, and his other arm shoots out toward you, his claws obviously intent on rending your face. .

Fate point?
I like our face.

>you can use it even on successful rolls, or non-rolls, in order to go 'fuck the laws of magic'.
How fucked can the laws of magic be? Remove people from existence or just really strong spells?
>>
>>19544465
fuck no
we shouldn't have gone close in the first place.

Literally 5 minutes between updates, beginning of the thread. Wait a moment for the people to gather up before responding to knee-jerk, thoughtless suggestions.
>>
>Fate points can't be used to say 'fuck exabyte's plot', so you can't just remove people from existance. But they can be used to cast really strong spells at zero stamina cost.

Something goes crashing through the air, and slams into Uriel's arm, blowing it off at the shoulder, and you hear Ell scream. You pull away from the kalak, and glance at Ell. He's on his knees. . carrying one of the unfinished arcane cannons, arcane sparks dancing from the magic burns in his body and the cannon itself.

. . He'd fired it manually.

You back away. . and you're furious.
You leap backwards as the kalak starts twitching, and you raise up wrath elementals, telling them to crush this. . monster.

There's another sickening pulse of corrupted life magic, and you find yourself biting your lip as the skeleton's arm regrows. The wrath elementals leap forward, and tear into the skeletal Uriel, as the two voices howl disharmoniously.
>>
We can heal everything nonlethal. Lets not waste a fatepoint on an injury.
>>
rolled 43 = 43

>>19544484
There's obviously magic involved somehow. If it's not in the skeleton it must be in that ankh.

Can we remove it from the ribcage somehow? Teleport it, perhaps abusing the Heart if needed?
>>
>>19544484
focus on the ankh. it is an artifact. right now i think it is functioning as his core. his phlyactry. his heart. we need to either destroy it or remove it.
>>

Get the elementals to rip the symbol of eternal life out of its chest already. If Impulse is going to paint giant glowing weak points on her monsters fucking hit them.
>>
use the Heart as mana source if we get winded.
>>
One of the wrath elementals get torn apart. . and you feel less angry. You try to stoke your mental 'fires', so to speak, but your anger is flagging.

One of the wrath elementals slam into Uriel's ribcage, shattering his spine. .but there's another pulse of corrupted life magic, and you get so nauseous that you fall to your knees and vomit. The wrath elemental falls apart completely, leaving only one elemental left.

So you direct it at the ankh. The wrath elemental becomes shapeless, and coils around the ankh. . and tries to tear it out.

>Roll 1d100, taking only the first.
>>
>>19544484
>>Fate points can't be used to say 'fuck exabyte's plot', so you can't just remove people from existance. But they can be used to cast really strong spells at zero stamina cost.

Why not?
If we cast a spell which purpose is to literally remove the person from existence, why shouldn't we be able to use fate point on it?

Or teleport Rikar into our hands.
>>
>>19544549
>Natural 100s can completely screw everything, I'm fine with that, but not fate points, because then you just need to wait until you see someone you want to remove, and spend it there. There would be no significant conflict resolution, no climax.

You suffuse yourself with life magic, all but blinding your senses with it. You feel Uriel's ankh pulse again. . but you can handle that. So you stand, and urge the elemental to tear the ankh out. . But Uriel simply reaches down, and crushes it. Then he steps toward you. .

The two lizardmen slam into the kalak, their glaives slashing through both sides of the ankh, shattering the ribcage, and the ankh is loose.

So you close your eyes, and ask the Heart to teleport the ankh away from uriel. . So it does.

Uriel grabs the lizardmen by the head, ignoring the two glaives stuck through him, and he slams their heads together, a savage crunch making your blood go cold.

Then he turns into dust, and the ankh is sitting a few feet away from you.
>>
>>19544593
Because the ship is 5 meters in length, right?
I mean using teleportation to gain distance between it.
>>
>>19544594
Or teleport the ankh into our hands.

Irrelevant. It's an effect of the magic animating Uriel that is making us ill. We have to get rid of that first.

Ah geez, heal those poor guys. They risked their lives to save ours, we need to save theirs.
>>
>>19544639
Actually, use that roll to heal the Heart. Then it can do the lizardmen. Healing seems like a useful spell to have on tap with no failure chance, and not too dangerous if the Heart gets into enemy hands again.
>>
You run over to the lizardmen. Velrid and Ghujj are unconscious, blood leaking from their skulls. You put your hands over them, and close your eyes, trying to heal them.

Their blood is warm on your hands. Much warmer than you thought- They're lizardmen, shouldn't they be coldblooded? That's what you think as your magic empties into the void. Your body sways, and muscles ache. You ask the heart for some extra power. . but it's tired- teleporting artifacts aren't easy.

You bite your lip, and heal harder. Your vision blurs, and your lungs burn, but the healing magic sticks, refusing their skulls and scales. .
>>
>>19544666
Grab power from the ship
>>
>>19544680
Nah. We can do that if something comes up but it looked like the spell worked so leaving recovering normally will help our endurance. And the ship only has limited power at the moment.
>>
>>19544707
we are on the verge of collapsing unconscious.

We need that power. Take a bit at least.
>>
Velrid's eyelids flicker, and then open. He looks dazed, but he'll live- he just needs some rest. You turn to Ghujj, and draw power from the ship, converting it into more life magic. . He twitches. . but the magic goes into the the void. Why? Why isn't it working? You were able to heal Velrid this same way, so it should work. . right?

Right?

Your head suddenly pounds, and your body sways. Velrid puts his fingers on Ghujj's neck, and says something. You don't hear him- you're too busy focusing on healing. He says it again, louder. You bite your lip, and try harder.

Velrid tears your hand away.
"He's dead." He says.

>>
>>19544789
No it's our fault, because that was the worst battle tactic I have ever seen, and god damn I've seen some shit.
>>
How about we say screw death and not today.

Fate point.
>>
>>19544802
Nope
>>
>>19544790
and by rest I mean cry until we are too tired and drift to sleep.
>>
You breathe deeply.
This is no different than home.
You crush your feelings- for now, action is what's needed.
You touch your ring.

<Everyone. Back to the Jormungandr.> You say in a cold, stern voice.
You walk over to Ell, and he's unconscious. He has to stop overusing his talent. . You slap him awake.
"Get the shields up." You say, and he scrambles for his gauntlet. He touches it to the control crystal, and a shimmering shield appears around the Jormungandr.
>>
OP, next time wait more than 5 minutes during a dangerous situation before going with horrible ideas like this >>19544425 >>19544344
especially when two people said to not get close.
This is the beginning of the thread and not everyone had chance to get here in time. I was here 10 minutes after the thread started.

We KNOW that Impulse is a tricky whore. We KNOW that she knows we can manipulate magic flow, why the hell would you think it is a good idea to try drain magic from something she sent against us!?
I didn't even have time to read the other people's suggestions let alone downvote them before you updated.

That's a resounding no. We have no empathy at all.
>>
>>19544884
>>19544870
I know you wanna act all manly and vengeful but try to get into our characters mind for a little while. Try to empathise with Ishelda. She is extremely tired from the battle and healing, she just lost a friend and it's probably her fault, or that's what she will think. And we are 12-14. Revenge will come later, if at all.
>>
>>19544913
I still don't understand what he >>19544880 is trying to say here.
>>
>Yeah, I know taking that was wrong; I'm sorry, folks- the only thing that you 'lost' by doing that and not succeeding the roll was Ell for the rest of the battle.

With cold, clarity of mind, you draw more power from the Jormungandr and point it toward Impulse. She's. . somewhere dark, with a large club in hand. As you watch, someone walks into the building. . and she clubs them. Twice. Three times.

She takes a key from them, and you watch her leave the building.

You don't want to drain too much power from the airship, so you pull away from the contact.

Everyone is on the ship; Raziel, Ezekiel, Grayson, Nahzit. . and someone had invited Kristoph, as well.

Nahzit takes Velrid's shoulder and pats it, as they look down at Ghujj's body.

"What happened here?" Raziel asks.
>>
>>19544916
Actually. You're wrong.

Our pissed off level has been slowly escalating since Impulse awoke. This is an appropriate reaction to the shit she has pulled.
We can sulk later. right now we are pissed off.
AND we can think level headed in these kind of situations. We managed to get through Demonlands, so Ishelda is hardened against stress.
>>
>>19544949
Our anger levels are very low since skeletal uriel destroyed our elementals.
>>
>>19544929
"Impulse sent Uriel's corpse after me."
Show her the Ankh, she's the necromancy specialist.
>>
>>19544929
>the only thing that you 'lost' by doing that and not succeeding the roll was Ell for the rest of the battle.

I respectfully disagree. The battle would have went completely different direction if not for that suggestion.

>"What happened here?" Raziel asks.
Well, tell them what happened.

Also ask Raziel if she can identify the dust/corpse with her magic. We have a suspicion that this was Uriel (but don't say that to her)

>>19544963
Our NATURAL anger is still at the same fucking level. The fact that it magically drained us for the fight means jack shit. We are still, incredibly pissed off.
>>
"Can you identify that?" You ask, looking her in the eyes. You see her skin crawl, but she shakes it off. You point to the ankh, which is still sitting on the deck.
She looks at it. . then shrugs. "I don't feel anything from it." She says. "But. . if it's an artifact. . "
"And that?" You ask again, pointing at the small pile of dust. "Impulse sent it after me."

Raziel closes her eyes, and chants something. . .
"It was Uriel." She says, opening her eyes.

Kristoph reaches down to pick up the ankh. . .
>>
>>19545006
Tell Kristoph to not touch it. Who know what his antimagic will do to it.

Actually
"DON'T TOUCH IT!"
>>
"Don't touch it." You say harshly. He looks a bit guilty. "Who knows what antimagic will do to it?"
"I, ah, don't emanate antimagic or anything." Kristoph says. "Magic items just. . act as if I wasn't there, even when I pick them up."

The Heart wonders who or what you're talking to, and goes on to theorize that the stress from Ghujj dying is making you see and hear a nonexistent knight.
>>
>>19545025
It's not like an antimagic field or anything that would affect the ankh. It just means the ankh won't affect him. He's probably the safest person to pick it up.
>>
>>19545055
This, he doesn't not cast antimagic on things.
>>
"Sorry." You say, after a moment. "You're probably the safest person to pick it up."

He does, and bounces it in his palm.

"I can try to Look at it." Ell said. "I've been able to use my talent twice now. . maybe I can do it now."
>>
>>19545054
>You say harshly.
Catch yourself using that tone. "Oh, sorry."

So.... are we going to accept him into service? We definitely need to give Rikar to him then.

Ask Raziel if she can raise Ghujj
>>
>>19545093
Sure. Also ask the Heart about it, it can talk to Rikar so it might be able to get something if the Ankh is an artifact.
>>
>>19545094
Would Rikar even work for him? As far as I know it has to attune to it's user, and he can't be sensed by artifacts.
>>
>>19545150
Hmm...
you might be right.
>>
You meet Ell's eyes, and he averts his own. "Sure." You say, trying to keep the harsh edge out of your voice. You're carrying something inside of you, now. Something smouldering. A low, low fury- not something you could bring into an elemental. . but something to drive you.

Ell closes his eyes for a long moment, then opens them, looking closely at the ankh.

"Raziel, can you raise Ghujj?"
Nahzit looks toward you. "Please do not." He says.

You close your eyes, and commune with the Heart.
It informs you that being like this, crushing your emotions, is not good for your psychological health. You respond that you already know, and then ask it about the ankh.
The ankh gives eternal life, the heart responds.

"Don't, Raziel." You say. "Let us respect Nahzit's request."
"Sure thing, Ishelda." She responds. ". . Poor guy. Did you figure out what the ankh is yet?"
"No, not really." Ell said. "It's hardly even magical- it just has some kind of life magic. . and a bit of necromancy."
>>

>>
"The ankh is a disgusting artifact." You say. "It twists life magic into a horrible caricature of actual life. It made me noxious just being near it."

Part of the cost, the heart responds. Free-willed undeath requires corrupted life magic. When it is used truly, on a living being, it requires no such cost. The nature of an artifact does not change however it is used, however.

"I. . see." Raziel says, and reaches for it.
"No!" Ell said. "It's reacting every time someone gets close to touching it. It's reaching back. . . Um, sir?" He asks the knight holding it. "Can you wrap it in something?"

Kristoph nods, and wraps it in cloth, tying it tightly.

". . Something's happening, isn't it?" Kristoph asks Raziel.

She responds by turning back into a Kalak. Zeke takes a look at her, and turns himself back as well.

"I'm taking us into the air." Ell said. "With the way I . . moved us here, we're still almost full on power." He said.

Velrid and Nahzit start wrapping their brother in white cloth, pouring swamp brew on him- some kind of silent, calm, funeral.

Then Nahzit sets him on fire- the swamp brew burns a bright green.

Grayson harrumphed, and lay down on the deck.

Kristoph sighed. "Well. ."
He drew his sword, handed the hilt to you. The long, six foot blade was almost too heavy for you to carry.
"Queen Ishelda. I may not know what's going on here, or what is happening here. . . But I have a feeling that you will end up ahead. Will you accept my fealty?"
He knelt, bowing his head to the ground.

"I would be honored.
Your next words were something engraved into your mind, from the point you became eight years old. Your father always said you would need to know them. . . And he was right, as it turns out.

"I do."
"Do you swear to guide me and stand beside me on the darkest paths?"
"I do."
"Do you swear to challenge me when I am wrong?"

You put the flat of his blade against his shoulder..
"By the power I yield as Queen Ishelda of the faraway realm of Arcturus, I now pronounce you Ser Kristoph, Knight of Arcturus."
He stands, and takes his sword back.

". .So, uh, was that what she meant by the whole beak thing?" Kristoph asked, with a sidelong glance at Raziel.

"Yes. Sorry for not telling you before. Raziel and Ezekiel are of a different race. That's what they normally look like."

"Lady." He says. "Where do we go next?"
Due to your scrying, you know you'll be able to recognize the city Impulse was in. . you just need to see it personally to make sure.

Ursae City.

Suggested letter to Impulse:
"Uriel did not seem to comprehend that I am now literally unable to give up the heart. It learned the 'grab artifact' spell and is able to use it upon itself. For now it seems to have chosen me.

He killed one of my friends over it. I'm holding you responsible since you sent him, and I presume, reanimated him.

Before, I considered you mischievous and very slightly annoying. Now I consider you a threat. If I ever see you or yours again, it means war.

P.S. I'm keeping the Ankh. It's disgusting, so I think I'll sacrifice it like you suggested.
P.P.S. The Kalak aren't thrilled about the desecration of their brother's remains. Might want to avoid them in the future as well.

"Ursae city." You say, somewhat harsher than you intended. That small, simmering, smoldering core of anger is back, deep within you. You see the lizardmen scoop up the ash. . and stir bits into three cups. They've been all but silent this entire time. . it's eerie.

"So. . we have three artifacts now." Ell says, after re-attuning the compass and sending the Jormungandr on it's way.

On unsteady feet, you trot over to your storage of water, and take a few glasses. You close your eyes, and push the end of the cup against your forehead. The cup is so cold, and refreshing. .

Then you drink it, and watch Kristoph twirl Rikar around, the crystal blade dancing through the air as a blur. . almost like a serpent. .
You think about that for a long moment. When you come back to yourself, Ell is holding up a wooden rod, and Kristoph swings the blade at it . . but the blade doesn't even slightly cut the rod- it must not have the sharpness when it's not active.

Grayson harrumphs, and quite plainly says, in a russet, hirsute voice, "How are you feeling, kiddo? That snaggletooth drink didn't screw you up too much, did it?"

"I've always been talking. You just haven't heard me until now." Grayson responds. Well, you always heard him, but there's a difference between hearing and understanding.

Kristoph starts screwing with the sword again, twirling it around. . .
"So, are we going to go kick this Impulse chick's ass?" He asks Ell.
"Well. . I presume." Ell said, with a glance to you. "Ishelda's a bit out of it right now, though."
You nod, happily, eyes closed.

With the sound of Impulse's name. . something lies behind it. Something angry. Something. . trying to break free from deep inside of you. It. . fuses, with the flashes of other memories. Standing at the town walls, with a bow you don't know how to use, missing the approaching demons.
Claws, rending,
Teeth, gnashing.
Leathery wings, beating
Demonfire, demonfire.

And that something. . spirals out of you, twisting through the air. Dark, almost black, violet flame spews out of you, roughly shaping themselves into serpents. Grayson leaps up and away, and everyone retreats. The serpent descends down to you, and you caress it, thinking. This isn't hellfire. It's a lot like it. . But it's different. This was made by your talent. You pet it again, and it doesn't burn you. . but you see the air waver above it, intense heat leaving the serpent. It hisses at you, then coils around your arm. . and evaporates into a tattoo, coiling down your arm as a single, long line. It quivers, and floats in your palm, like a small, weightless snake. It spirals about. When Raziel returns, she blinks as she looks at it. "Is that an elemental?"

It nudges her hand, and she recoils, expecting it to burn her. . but it doesn't. Odd- it's like it has it's own intent, but you can feel the spell as if it were part of you. Like you're controlling it subconsciously- which you probably are.

Velrid steps out. . then looks closely at the flame.
"I see." He says. "Perhaps giving you some was the right idea."
Nahzit comes as well. . and then nods, as if he's saying yes to the soulflame in your hand.

"How long until we get to Ursae City?" Ezekiel asks.
"One more day." Ell responds. "We'll be there in the morning."

Morbidly, you think, the rest of the day might as well be a training montage.

dah dah dah, getting a lecture from Kristoph, dah dah dee, Archery, doo doo dah, losing a thousand times to Kristoph's superior swordplay. . .

You huff, and fall onto Grayson, magically and physically exhausted. He harrumphs. It's a pity you can't understand him anymore, so you just scritch his head in response. It appears to be the response he wants, as he sets his head on you.

Well the tone is a LOT different from the original FFTactics, the character design is so batshit I thought it was a spoof the first time I saw it, and the story isn't anything to write home about -

>>
You curl up, and slumber.

The day seemed to have gone by so quickly. . .

You wake up, and you hear a bell loudly ringing. You don your brigandine, put your sword on one hip, your satchel of crystals on the other, and put on the chain with the Heart on it.

You step out abovedeck, and everyone else is there, looking down at something below, peering through the invisibility fog.

Down there. . the massive cathedral of Ursae city is covered in guards, all swords raised, pointing them at someone at the very top of the belltower.

Impulse is standing there, waving something like a wand. You peer closer, and see that the wand is intricate, with tons of small, steel wires intricately and complexly woven, with an elven spellcrystal set in the base. She waves the wand. . and you feel your sealing spell on her release.

Impulse now has full power.

At that moment, the guard's archers fire arrows at her. . and they splinter on arcane shields that burst into existence. At this distance, you see her wearing something else- a bracer. .

With three crystals set into it. You suddenly recall Bubbles' three crystals, staring down at you.

Presumably she was in some control of her magics when she transferred into the golem. Kinda hard to do that while getting smashed by a brick.

>>19548031
Wipe our mouth, say to the guards, "Oh. I'm sorry. Did I interrupt something?"

Drawing Rikar and getting into another retarded melee did not have consensus either but was used AGAIN which in turn lead us into "one roll only" situation AGAIN. It is like OP was waiting for an excuse to force us into these shitty situations.

Yeah, spells did not work on her but nothing said we couldn't have held her off till our allies arrived.
>>
You stand.

"Where is the red-eyed woman?" One of the Ursae guards say. Ezekiel points at the charred body.
"Stand back." You say, full command in your voice. "Do not interfere with these events."

With cloth in your hand to keep from touching them directly, you pick up the crystal bracer, and the World Key, and finally Rikar. Then you try to walk out. .but the guards point their blades at you.

"What." An authoritive voice comes from behind the swarm of warriors. "Is going on here?"

When the guards part, you see a young girl, almost your own age, step into view.

"Ishelda?" She asks, eyes wide.

It's Marigold. Your cousin.

We should check all of our artifacts, crystals and such to see if she didn't escape into one of them again.

She was Eidolon, right? The real one.

should we take this as gospel truth?

>Possibly. She is dead, and her body, mind, and spirit is gone. . but necromancy is possible, even without those. It's a stretch, yes, but it's possible.

>>19548198
>Yeah, she was the real Eidolon. The big kicker was the way the truth spell works- it only works to the letter, as opposed to the spirit. So when he said, sarcastically 'I'm eidolon, the fey wizard', it registered as false. . because he wasn't elven at the time.

>>19548291
How did he die in the first place anyway?
>>
>>19548339
The mind is in the bracer now, right?

>I believe I stated this before, but old age. He was wearing down, and kept using magic to heal his body back to the 'young' state. But it stopped working eventually, and he was bedridden. So as he lay there, he called Bubbles over to him, and transferred his mind and spirit over to the artifact inside Bubbles.

>>19548334

Why did it take so long for him to wake then?

Also, I just realized that any NPC's that appear due nat 100's should be killed on sight.

As far as you know, yes.

So was there even a way to beat him without resorting to fate point?
Would be nice to know what we missed.
>>
What was Eidolon's goals? Expect getting all the artifacts together, what did he want to achieve?

Did he have any long-term plans concerning Ishelda?
>>
Would Azariel deduce that Impulse was Eidolon if we had told him about her?
>>
>>19548184

>>
>>19548415
Can we put the mind (Bubbles) and life (Ankh) together to make some sort of super-construct? Is that what Eidolon was trying to do, make artifact Voltron?
>>
>>19548573
>Not really- he was just leaving her alive in case she was needed. . at least until that final battle.
>>19548516
>He wanted to live forever, and the Ankh wasn't good enough for him. It has weaknesses.
>>19548620
>I would have made TG type everything out that you tell him, and you would need to say just the right things for Azariel to deduce it.
>>19548624
>Uh. I suppose?
>>19548494
>Yes, there was- if you chose not to use the fate point, an ally would have come and saved you- A second dice roll would have said if they got injured or not, but that would open up the chance to get the World Key away from her.
>>
Crushing the pain with your raw will, you use your own shattered wrist as a channel. . as you steal Eidolon's power, funnelling it into a powerful burst of soulfire. Your hand spasms, shaking from the raw power.

You think, again, of Ghujj. And again, of Uriel. You get. . angrier. More furious. That deep, smouldering core inside of you. . bursts into life, roaring free.

The spellfire bursts into white flame. You shove it at Impulse, along with a roar- something completely unlike yourself.

Contemptuously, she waves the wand, and the spellfire falls apart, turning into smoke. She lets go of your wrist, and you fall to your knees. The spellfire tired you out. . your muscles ache, and you're having trouble breathing. .

"Now." Impulse says. "Destroy her mind."
She clasps something on your wrist, and you look down at it- and stare into Bubbles' eyes. . .

Then the pain started. Pain, pain, pain. You bring your magic up.. but then Impulse jabs you in the neck with the World Key, and your spell falls apart before you can do anything.

Your eyes, involuntarily, roll into the back of your head, and more pain shoots up your spine.

Mercifully. . your consciousness retreats.

>Bad end - Impulse
>>
>>19548686
So our allies are effectively hitpoints... Time to raise an army!

I jest.
>>
>>19548712
>Contemptuously, she waves the wand, and the spellfire falls apart, turning into smoke.

So how was he able to block the spell with his wand when it was stated to channel the soulfire at point-blank THROUGH our wrist which he was HOLDING at the time? There was no space to put wand between the spell. There was no point in between, it went directly from our body to hers.
And don't say that wand blocks spells universally, it didn't block Silence spell, so it is not perfect. And it certainly can't block the spells before they get out of our body.
I feel you didn't quite get how it was supposed to be done.
>>
>>19548830
>Soulfire is channeled through the palms- one of which you couldn't even feel, due to the broken wrist. So your only choice is to use the other one. Plus, all that was said was 'burn it with soulfire'.
>I do see your point, though, and in the future I'll make sure to wait a bit longer and wait for consensus. However, this time, the majority voted for using the fate point. Don't worry- it's not the only fate point you'll ever get. In NFC, Dave ended up with around six or seven of them- but then again, NFC fate points weren't as useful.
>>
>>19548908
I thought it was pretty obvious what was meant. And if we can slam the brick into her head we can touch her with our other palm and slam soulfire into her head. She really shouldn't have time to block shit at that close range.
>>
Was the d6 roll to determine which character from our past we were going to meet? Could you tell us who we didn't get?
>>
>>19548993
>Actually, the choice was always Marigold- I just gave you guys a literal one in six chance of her showing up. And she did.
>>
>>19549016
So who would it have been if we didn't roll her? Just some random guard captain?
>>
>>19548712
Well, at least the first part of the suggestion would have worked.

>>19548908
I'm not mad that we lost a fate point. I'm more mad that players rushed into combat without thought or preparation.
Did we REALLY have to drop on the bear leaving our valuable allies behind? What was up with that? No one stopped to think for one second that we might need back up... especially Kristopher who is immune to spells.
And why go into melee again? Throwing rocks almost worked for example, we just needed to silence her again or attack from below, right at the feet where blocking with the wand would be hard.
We could have just held her off without gaining any ground while other people came. I mean, she wasn't going anywhere before we appeared, so it was doubtful she would have escaped somehow while we were making sure she wouldn't.

I thought soulfire could be called from any part of the body though, so I was gravely mistaken there. But case in point, if I didn't suggest the second part, that would have meant we would have drained her of mana which would have given us much advantage thus there were ways to resolve this without relying on a 'miracle'.
People tend to shut off their brains when it comes to fate points.
>>
>>19549016
who were the other ones then?
>>
>>19549092
>It would have been High Lord Ursae. You'll find out more about him next time.
>>
>>19549094
fuck, half of this post makes no sense.
God damn, it's 6 am here.
Shit man looking back, I guess I didn't elaborate shooting at pointblank although that was my intent, just said "shoot Soulfire through our hand" (the same hand he was holding us with). Fuck typing at 4am with a half-melted brain, no wonder it had holes in it.
