The extradited extraction of Executor "Crazy" Hassan has been handled rather executively.

Haha.

The Voss are quite the rabble to deal with, let's hope we have more than enough bullets to deal with the lot of them. They also seem to have a more robust warmachine than our information lets on. It seems the Voss grow tougher hides and callouses with every drop of blood they shed.

In the meanwhile, this Pandemon's
National Pride Army Corp has been put on hold in the North Eastern Kashirn front but its obvious they'll overrun the place if they catch wind of us not being here for long.

Expect Voss relations have delved into the red. We are likely demons to their people after how many Voss we've killed.

Kashir relations on the other hand, have likely transcended mutual professionalism to brothers in Arms....

“Okaaaaaay.” Ella sighed, unwrapping the white cloth around her hands. “Just—just let me run through this again. We get pulled off the line. They send up Pandemon to fill in the cracks. He gets a chance at Hassan—the same Hassan who's been gunning for us since Goddess-knows-when, and Pandemon just /lets him go/?”

“That's the situation in brief, yes.” The slightly muffled response emanated from Malachi's mask.

“And on top of this, I hear news that /Clovis/, of all things, is getting close to the Kashir?”

“Yes.” The corpsier nodded.

Ella sighed, curling and relaxing her hand from a fist. “If Krusser and Pandemon coudn't handle such a small force...” her voice trailed off. She sat up from the bench, shaking her head, droplets of sweat glistening as they fell. She began to walk over to the locker room, her corpsier keeping up behind her. “Clovis,” Ella said, gritting her teeth. She never trusted the Cloven. A group of ragtag degenerates that call themselves a nation. Armed forces cobbled together from a mixture of Vosskon exiles looking for asylum, Aeoni pilgrims looking for sanctuary, Outland farmers and city boy slackers looking for cheap thrills. The appearance of a Cloven special tasks group at Redemption Gate showed that Clovis wished to escalate their role in the war from simple observers to outright players in the war.
>>
>>19562705

Rumors of Cloven special tasks group capturing Kashir persons of interests on Voss borders. Rumors of deals between Voss and Kashir nobles. And now Kashir soldiers fighting, arm-in-arm, with Clovis soldiers. 'What could be their plan?' Ella furrowed her brow, stopping as she reached the locker room door. “Mal.” She said, setting her hand on the door.

“Ma'am?”

“Keep an ear open for any news on Cloven operators or Kashir movements. They're planning something—I'd like to know just what that 'something' is.”

“The official reports aren't enough?”

“Just...keep an ear open, Mal.”

“...understood, ma'am.”

“Thank you.” Ella began to push open the door. “Oh.” She stopped, turning back. “One more thing, Mal.”

“Miss Cotton?”

“You're dismissed. Get yourself some food—or, well, do whatever you Corpsiers do with your free time. Send Abby over here if you see her.”

“Very well, Miss Cotton.” The corpsier gave a small bow. “Thank you.”

“...the light of Alexander prevails. Let us not be found wanting.” Uriah Plaid ended the daily prayer by crossing himself, setting the small, leatherbound holy book on top of his dresser. Foreign land or not, he had kept in mind that the old traditions must be kept. It had been some time since the team had gotten back to base, and he had traded out his flightsuit for his robes. He had not expected to have seen any other Aeoni soldiers in his unit; it felt good to fight alongside his brothers and sisters, even if they were all on pilgrimage. 'An odd place, this country,' Uriah thought. 'Odd, and yet strangely comforting.' He gave a tired smile as he stood, brushing the dirt from his robes. 'To think that I would be fighting alongside a man born and raised in Voss—Templar Cretius would have had my head by now if he had found out.' He chuckled to himself, stepping outside the tent and moving out toward the command building.

'And not just Voss,' he had to remind himself. 'Ragnyllians, Northerners--even native Cloven were pressed into the ranks.' He smiled. "What an odd band of men we are," he said under his breath.

It was not long until his footsteps led him to the door of the command building. He stepped inside, keeping his hands folded in front of him, his slippers softly scuffing against the floor. He needed to speak to Hassan--talk to him about how to find Salazar's sister and servant. 'If only I knew where to find the man,' Uriah reflected as he idly stepped through another hallway.

"A little big more glue aaaaaand voila." The young pilot gently glues a miniature bomb color she had handcrafted herself. Behind her lay pieces of scrap from various weapons and even worthless tank metal she had collected at the end of the previous fight. "And this little convict figurine's finished just in time too. I can leave them in the planning room, much better then those dreary ugly cubes and pieces of metal they use to prepare and plan..."

Carefully putting her metal-working tools, glue and paint aside she would remove the sweat from her brow. Melting scraps with a blow torch is all easy, but the fumes and heat's never good in a closed room. But it helps her forget her heritage, losing herself in hobbies and *geekeries* as some would call them. 2 small radios for our echos, the big jockeys, 2 femtos, hordes of little snipers, convicts and 1 charlie unit, she would pack the figurines one by one in a box, each of them engraved with the name of a pilot or a squad leader.

With everyone busy eating, partying or salvaging for parts she sneaked into the war room. Com-Links, tables, maps, everything was like she imagined it do be. She wanted to hurry and drop her little gift without being caught and thus quickly unpacked each figurine, swapping them for the basic stuff laying around. "And now I have more cheap scraps to make a whole new batch." she grins, whistling softly as she makes her way back out, leaving over 30 of her fine crafted little metal soldiers and mechs behind.

>MEANWHILE. IN THE MEDICAL TENT

"Okay, so, you went onto the field of battle, outside of orders, to make a quick buck, and you come back and your squad leader is missing an arm. And you expect 'he fell down some stairs' to be an acceptable excuse?" Said the medic

"... Well, I was hoping you would buy it." Van Der Waal has been through many things with his boss. From the numerous bank robberies their gang pulled off to that one time in the city where they got into the fist fight with a mafia crime boss, he has pulled through. But now, he was here, explaining to a medic how his boss ended up one arm short. And somehow he thought 'he was bitten by a ghoul' would go down as well as a blaze in a firework factory

"Okay, fine, we went out to get scrap but, there was this guy, a Voss Axeman I think. We thought he was dead, he almost looked it anyway. Turned out the fether was still alive, took a swing at the boss, lopped his arm clean off. We filled him full of holes afterwards but we couldn't save his arm" He could see the uncertainty on the Medic's face whether to trust his story. And why wouldn't he, if a group of convicts just came up to him, to fix their bosses arm and they wouldn't give a straight answer as to what happened, he would be suspicious anyway. He moved quickly to change the subject.

"Look, we want to get the boss a replacement prosphetic arm. How much would one cost? And failing that, can you just treat it so he doesn't get gangrene or something"

Gangrene's no problem, the cut was clean. Your axeman sure likes to clean his weapons. But lets see, as far as prosthetics go I could put in an order for a medical brace. It'd let you hold that axe, anyway.

Or I can contact a friend from the Valknyres, see if they can't scrounge up a mechanical prosthetic that hits harder than a truck. You'd have to give me 100 clovers though to sweeten the deal. Only so much I can get with surgeon's pay "

Thursday,

Air superiority for our forces is paramount, and we're seeing the first VOss aerial craft. Not only did they manage to join the aerial warfare game, but they've become competent enough to make it a naval division out of it. Just how far did they go just to fight these people.

Will look into calling up squadrons for hire. Perhaps an airforce brass...
>>
>>19569551
Are they just going to be squadrons of Femtos flyers? Or are we going to see a new aircraft made specifically for air superiority?
>>
>>19569551

An airforce commander would be ideal. Speaking of air forces, has our R&D department bore any fruit on those proposed concepts for a gunship and tank?

The door to the War Room opened with light squeak as Plaid poked his head inside. The first thing he noticed is it was dark. A forced darkness, further exacerbated by thick shades over the tall windows. A multitude of fans, set into the wall and stood along the corners, formed a low rumble as fresh air was continually blown into the room. The "tack-tack-tack" of fingers on typewriters and Morse code machines formed a chittering hiss that built on top of the rumble of the fans. Along one wall, a line of radiomen huddled in front of their machines, taking down coded messages from task forces operating around the world and sending out coded messages in kind. A radio set somewhere within the room played a collection of music from Cloven radio stations.

The center of the room was dominated by a large square table. The top of the table was covered by a large map, showing all the areas Cloven task groups were operating. There were two boards set up on rolling frames stationed close by. The first board had illustrations of Cloven holdings, with differently colored push pins illustrating locations and places of interest to the Cloven war effort. The second board was a black board, with taped pictures of different persons of interest--Voss commanders, Aeoni Chapter Masters, Outlander Warlords, and most recently, Kashir royalty members, all with their last confirmed whereabouts sketched out in chalk underneath or beside their pictures.

Plaid walked up to the main table, brushing his hand over the large map. There was a stack of small boxes sitting on the corner of the table. He looked at the stack of boxes, noticing that the boxes were imprinted with the names of the people in his current unit. He sifted through the boxes until he found a small box with his name on it. He opened the box. Inside, was a small metal model of his Jockey, intricately detailed. "'Impressive craftsmanship," he whispered, turning the model over in his hands. "Even got the Arm Cannon right." He chuckled at that. 'Must have a lot of time on their hands, whoever did this.'

"Sir?" Uriah was broken out of his concentration by the appearance of an aide right beside him. "You seem a bit lost. Are you looking for something?"

"Yes, actually." Plaid said, setting the Jockey model on the table. "Have you seen the Princess Salazar or Hassan about? I've been looking for them around the compound and I cannot seem to find neither eye nor ear of the two of them..."
>>
>>19573979

>Okay, on to plotting!

Uriah stepped out onto the airfield, shading his eyes from the sun. After explaining his situation to the aide, the aide had been king enough to point him in the direction of the airfield, noting that "You'll know where Hassan is when you see the tents." Well.

Plaid found himself walking alongside all the hangars. "Now, what did he mean by all the--" Plaid stopped as he looked inside one of the hangar bays. "Ah."

The Halberd was as battered as it had been at the end of the battle, only now there was a mixture of Kashir golds mixing with the Voss reds. A collection of white and golden tents billowed in the crosswind that flittered through the open hangar bay windows. The scent of spices fluttered toward thehangar bay door, lightly mixed with the smell of incense.

Plaid entered the mixture of tents, ducking between and through tents. He had sworn he had passed by a camel stable—how did they get camels on-base without anyone knowing?—as he stepped into Hassan's tent. The man gave Uriah a wild-eyed grin, followed by a jovial burst of laughter. “Welcome—welcome my friend!” He grinned. “Thank you for allowing my men to stay here, and on such short notice. Now, what brings you to my tent?”
>>
>>19576800

“I—It's fine, Hassan,” Uriah replied, returning a smile. “I'm here for information—about Princess Salazar's sister, Rai.”

The dark-skinned man's countenance darkened slightly. “Ah, but of course,” he said. “Come, come in and have a seat! We have much to talk about.”

Plaid followed the man into his tent, sitting on one of the plush cushions closest to the door. Hassan sat directly opposite of him, clapping his hands twice as he sat down. In mere moments, a manservant appeared, a tray with two glasses of water and a pitcher perched on the crook of his arm. The servant bent down, allowing Plaid grab a glass. “Rai is a smart woman—powerful, too; she is as clever as she is resourceful.” Hassan grabbed the other glass from the manservant, giving him an appreciative nod as the servant took his place at the side of the tent. “But I suspect she fell in bad tidings with the king—not that I minded; it is water under the bridge now, and the men I lost trying to reclaim her had fallen to the bullets of Voss' peasant commandos.” Hassan tilted back the glass, never for a moment letting his gaze divert from the Aeoni pilot in front of him. “I have divined with the owl, and I have searched. Tell me, Plaid—if you were captured by the enemy, what is the one way you are able to communicate with your wish to be found, whilst at the same time eluding your foes?”

Uriah cupped his chin, furrowing his brow in thought. “Well,” he began, “I would leave a trail. Other than that, the only alternative method of communication would be telepathy, I would assume.” Plaid took a sip from the glass.
>>
>>19576808

Hassan let out another laugh. “Our powers do not work for thousands of miles—only when we are in the same room does it work.” Uriah tilted his head in confusion. “I was joking.” The Aeoni man gave an understanding “Aaaah” before taking another sip.

“But yes, Plaid—you leave a trail. And where do you suppose we look—especially if we are dealing with someone as...talented...as she?”

“Hmmm,” Plaid mumbled, emptying his cup. “She is a Stargazer, yes? In that cacse, I would assume that we look to the stars.” The manservant at the side of the room moved to beside Plaid, refilling his glass.

Again, Hassan laughed in approval. “You are correct,” Hassan smiles.

“But how do we find the trail if it's in the sky? We do not have any Stargazers in this unit—that I know of, anyway.”

“The hymns sang in the stars make the faint Lupus glow brightly every night. She sings a song, you see—for that is the contract she had made with her celestial Lupus.”

“So at night, when she sings, it forms a trail in the sky—and we can use that trial to find out where the Starstress is located?”

“At the same time that same night, three new songs are sung, and the celestials Southern Crown, and Sygnus of the Northern Swan glow as brightly as the Lupus.” Hassan leaned forward., his voice hushed “Would you like to know what the third song is from?”

“Of course.” Plaid replied.

“Libra, the scales.” Hassan leaned back, grinning. “To our people, it is a sign of balance, peace.”

Plaid blinked. The Swan, The Cross, and The Scales. 'We can gather enough information from those three pieces alone to know where she is, but what does it mean? What—?'
>>
>>19576830

A chuckle emanates from a corner of the room. “I get it~” the lilting voice says.

Plaid stood from his seat, turning toward the voice. “Who is that?”

“Just me.” Isabelle stepped out of the shadows, a mischievous smile on her face. “And I know what Hassan's talking about.”

“Konnair, how did—?” Plaid scoffed. “Ugh, nevermind.”

“What's wrong, commander? Can't make sense of things?” Isabelle leaned in close. “Need me to tell you, Commander?”

“If you'd be so kind, Konnair.”

Isabelle licked her lips. “Ten Cloves.”

“I say we blow her up!” An excited voice whispered from behind Plaid.

“Gah!” Uriah whipped around, confronting Lakkan. “How did you get here?!”

“I do not mean to brag, sir, but you are an easy man to follow.” Lakkan gave a savage grin. “I still say you blow her up, sir.”

“Commander~” Konnair teased, stretching out her hand. “Going once, going twice—”

“I'll have none of that!” Plaid shouted, turning toward the convict. “Ten is fine.” He pressed the crisp bank note into Isabelle's outstretched hand.

“Weellll,” Isabelle said, stuffing the bank note into her pocket. “It's...the city...of Peace!”
>>
>>19576865

Plaid's mouth dropped. “Peace.” He dropped back into his cushion. “We're going to assault the Voss capitol.”

“Yes, yes, that is correct!” Hassan clamored. “And the other two clues?”

“Southern Crown...something pertaining to the Royal Palace?” Plaid supposed.

“And...Sygnus of the Northern Swan...” Konnair wondered. “Isn't Aeon to the north?”

“One could argue that it is to the west,” Hassan stated.

“I only know maps of Voss.”

“And I of the universe.” Hassan cryptically said.

“Southern Crown.” Lakkan began to pace around the room. “The Royal Guard to the South? The Northern Swan—air forces to the North? A warning of Voss force composition? A bit too much of an assumption, likely...” his voice trailed off.

“Maybe it means to attack them by air from the North?” Konnair suggested.

“Or perhaps a combined arms force.” Plaid said.

In the midst of the three Clovens' postulating, Hassan let out another laugh.

“What's so funny?” Plaid asked.

“The Crescent Swan is a peaceful creature that migrates south from the northern lands only once a year.” A fourth figure enters the tent—Thompsons Gazelle, the overlord of the Eagles.

“So it is a meeting time,” Lakkan deduced.

“Like bilious clouds they fly, and the Voss Feather Festival occurs only then,” Gazelle continued. “The Voss Empire celebrates such a time with celebration and good eating—I have heard that their roast duck is to die for.” Gazelle's lips curl into a smile at the mention of that piece of intel.
>>
>>19576882

“Aren't /all/ swans peaceful creatures?” Konnair piped up.

“Go try and steal a swan egg—see how peaceful they are then,” Plaid replied.

“Clearly, you all have not met a Western Cockatrice,” Gazelle said. “In any case—Plaid, you decide the next move. I'll be supporting you with whatever you need. Gentlemen—and lady.” Gazelle makes nods towards each of the soldiers in the tent before stepping out, a box of donuts, seemingly appearing out of nowhere, in his hands.

Mike Rave was standing uncomfortably beside his plane in the hangar that had recently been overrun by all kinds of strange Kashir people and their tent city. Really, how did those people expect him to be able to start with all this stuff in here?

"Seriously, an hangars s'possed to smell like oil and plane fuel, not like a frigging spice depot..."

At least their camel farm was on the other side of the building. He might have to shoot someone if one of the animals dared to come too close to his Femto. "Creepy beasts.", he spat.

His plane was back in best condition -he had pulled an all nighter the first night after the battle- but Magpie two had been heavily damaged by the collision with the cliff and was still being put together. Well, nothing that a Ragnyllian repair team with some resources couldn't fix. The Femtos were rather sturdy machines, if you knew how to get them the spare parts they needed.

And the Clovis bureaucraty was damn efficient. It hadn't been three days before a new pilot had be assigned to Magpie squadron. Strange Girl, called herself Liz. Didn't talk too much.

At the moment Mike had other problems. He haphazardly skimmed through the new Clovis weapon catalogue. He had thrown an eye on the H1 Class Slugthrowers (they had even gotten cheaper!), but they were still kinda out of the pilots pricerange.

"Hm. I need four of those to replace the MGs, add to that ammo. Should be about 140 Cloves... I just got 60. Dammit."

"Oh well, can't be helped, i need ta get a GI Fund. 20% Taxes is nothin, i payed double that back home. And while i am at it i can also get ta shoppin'.... Lets see if i can't restore Cloven air superiority."

I've made a decision. We're gonna break out the Starstress during the Voss Feather Festival. Since this /is/ a national festival and we will be assaulting the capitol, I'm assuming security's gonna be tight and there will be multitudes of civilians strewn about. If we could, I would like for us to get in and out of this mission with minimal collateral damage--if any at all.
>>
>>19583325
I suppose that would make our Jockeys rather hard to use, right?
>>
>>19583325

"Captain, i'd like ta stick around the big birds this time, keep our evac-channel open and try ta keep the voss airforce off... But the question is, do we have an airbase that we can use to get that far into voss with 'nough fuel ta get us out again or is Flyin' impossible this time?"
>>
>>19583325

With minimal collateral damage in mind, I have devised a plan. The plan requires our Voss natives and those fluent in Vosskon tongue to be inserted at the beginning of the festivities, disguised as Voss Army officers. They will be our Team A. After insertion, Team A will then get close to the target while the rest of us, Team B, wait on board the Big Bird for a predetermined codeword from Team A. Once the code word is given over our secure comms channel, Team B will insert directly into the festival via airdrop and begin to cause as much mayhem as they can, creating a panic. Team A will then grab the Starstress Rai, board the escape vehicle, and make toward the rendezvous point. As soon as it is confirmed that the escape vehicle is away, Team B will break off the attack and move toward the rendezvous point as well. Both teams will then link up at the rendezvous point, target in tow, and exfil.

I would rather Team B is not involved entirely--perhaps we could get some of our Alphas to set up remotely detonated bombs instead of airdropping soldiers and mechs directly onto the festival grounds. A direct assault would be foolhardy and would give us negative publicity--"Civillian bloodbath" doesn't exactly look good on print, and doesn't exactly bode well for neither our task force nor Clovis as a whole.

Any questions? Comments? Suggestions?
>>
>>19583468

Our Jocks could be hard to use--depends on how densely packed the festival grounds will be with both tents and people. Knowing the Voss, this festival could be another excuse to have a military parade, so I wouldn't put it past them to have lots of infantry and armor right near the grounds. Aside from the parade units, it could be assumed that there will be heavy security going into, out of, and during the festival.

>>19583920

Flying will not be an impossibility--visibility, however, will be another obstacle entirely. The sky will be thick with both birds and fireworks--you pilots are gonna have your work cut out for ya. Don't hit any birds and try not to get blinded by the pyrotechnics. If there's an upside to this, it will be that both the birds and the fireworks will block any Voss AAA from sighting you in. Hopefully.

Gazelle--in order to properly plan this raid out, I will need aerial reconnaissance photos of the festival grounds. I will also need intelligence reports on level of security and security measures in place for the festival--anything on possible military parades during the festival would be good as well, as well as which Voss military units, if any, will be on parade and/or security duty. I would also like a "guest list", if you can formulate one--the who's who of the Voss military who will be attending. In addition to all of that, it would be good if you could get me some more intel on these Terrible Children--the Voss Royal Guard. If they are attending the festival, we will need to prepare accordingly.

A note is left in Lieutenant Plaid's quarters, shoved under the door and left lying on the ground, simply reading:

'Meet me in the empty Big Bird in hanger 3 at 2300, I have some important information regarding the next mission.'

The hanger would be empty at that time, crewmember and mechanics leaving for rest or other activities...
>>
>>19590619

True to the note's word, the hangar bay was empty by the time Plaid arrived. There were only a few large lights on in the hangar, illuminating the Big Bird transport plane that rested within. Uriah frowned, his mind briefly thinking that the supposed meeting would be a trap. 'Well," he reasoned, "only one way to find out."

Plaid's slippers made soft footfalls on the concrete floor. He made his way to the rear of the plane, finding the cargo bay door open. He peered inside. Darkness greeted him. He checked his watch. 23:00 on the dot. He waited in the shadow of the large plane's tail.
>>
>>19590703
"Come in Lieutenant," a familiar voice radiates from inside. In the dim glow of the hanger's lights, the form of Isabelle Konnair can be seen inside, sitting upon one of the many jumpseats.

She waits for him to enter, before resuming, "I hope you're not serious about this plan of yours. A border skirmish and that extraction of Hassan are one thing, but an actual raid on the Capital? And going up against the Royal Guard at that? It's downright boneheaded."
>>
>>19590755

"Which is why the element of surprise is paramount in this operation, Konnair." Uriah choose to continue standing, pacing up and down the floor of the plane. "We will need to be the ones who dictate the flow of battle. We could not take the Voss on in a full-on slugfest; we will need to catch them off guard."

"And I would rather we avoid shooting anyway, if confrontation /can/ be avoided." Plaid stopped in front of the convict. "Which leads me to ask--Isabelle, why have you taken me away from my evening prayers this night? Do you have an alternate proposition for going about this operation?"
>>
>>19590978
"Confrontation /can/ be avoided, /if/ you listen to me." she says, and as she shifts in her seat it becomes noticeable that one hand rests on the butt of her sidearm, still secure in the holster on the small of her back.

"You've read my file right? You know who my sister is, that she's the commander of the Royal Guard right?" She doesn't wait for an answer, and continues, "You're planning on sending me in anyway, since I'm a Voss native, I speak the language. Let me talk to her, I'm sure she's more than willing to help resolve this peacefully!"
>>
>>19591257

Plaid steeled his gaze toward the young woman. "I have read your dossier, yes." He began to pace again. "Indeed, I've read the dossiers of every one of my soldiers." He stopped pacing. "Your connections to the Terrible Children were...surprising, to be truthful."

He turned to face the convict. he started walking toward her. "How do you plan on getting into contact with your sister? How are you even sure that she will be present at the festival in the first place?" He leaned forward, his face mere inches from hers. "How can you be so sure that she would want to end this conflict so peacefully, when it seems like the entirety of Voss would derive greater pleasure from rending us limb from limb?"
>>
>>19591473
She doesn't move back or flinch, giving him her own steely gaze. "I don't know for certain she'll want to help, but I do know my sister, I can convince her. After what last happened to the Guard, at Kolstec... she lost a lot of her unit, and barely escaped with her own life. Trust me, she'll want an end to this fighting."

The convict looks down for a moment, taking in a deep, calming breath before resuming. "As for getting in contact with her, I grew up in Peace with her, I can figure it out. She'll either be with her unit, on base, or in the military hospital."

Isabelle looks back up again, her eyes pleading with the commander. "Please, you have to trust me on this, take off my collar, send me in first. If I fail, well... then you can resume your original plan..."
>>
>>19591514

The Aeoni pilot stares black, his face a mask of judgement. He holds her gaze for several seconds, mouth stretched into a thin line. "Very well." Uriah his face back. "You will be inserted into the outskirts of the city of Peace, as part of the team of Vosskon natives and fluent Voss speakers who will perform reconnaissance on the festival grounds.. I trust that you'll know the city streets well enough you can navigate on your own. You will keep in radio contact with home base. You will find your sister and, through you, we will broker an agreement for the Starstress, who is currently under her care. I, however, will choose the location and time where the exchange is made." Plaid reached into the folds of his robes, producing a small, grey box with two buttons--one red and one green. A disarming button and a detonation button. He pressed the green button.

The detonation collar gave off a series of high-pitched whistles before breaking in two, falling off the young woman's neck. "Make no mistake, Isabelle Konnair. Should you fail, the enemy will no doubt have you placed back in chains--or more likely, have you executed. Find your sister and make the deal. Perform exemplary work, and I may replace your detonation collar with a less severe shock collar." Uriah leaned back. "Do we have an understanding, Miss Konnair?"
>>
>>19591640
She catches the two pieces in her lap, staring at them incredulously for a moment. "Understood sir." After he finally leaves, she lays down across the bench, staring up at the plane's bulkhead, once more trying to figure out just what she is getting herself into.

It was during this moment that he heard the door open. He quickly grabbed his handgun, and turned to face the intruder.
A girl, about half his height, with freckles and a handgun also trained on him. "Whoa," she said.
"I'm your new buddy, Sikorski." she said again, after an awkward silence.
"'Bout time." He lowers his gun, and she does too. "Where's your rifle?"

"Take this for now."
As he hands the rifle to her, he asks, "Is your name Sikorski, too?"

So....how is this storyline gonna affect the other two ongoing arcs?
>>
>>19597081

In the IH canon that's been going thus far we can infer that these things have happened.

Ragnyll 656
- Voss Invades Ragnyll, a newly established nation in the outskirts of the Valknyres where Voss authority and influence did not reach. The driving reason is Ibonyte, a newly discovered resource that has been driving the war economy for some time now. However the reasons for the attack is not yet known.

- We gathered that the masterminds behind voss are the 3 generals of Terror,
Gustav Fierstrom, Asmodeus, and a third unrevealed General of Terror.
- We have also discovered that one Deathgod is counted among their Ranks, Thanatos.
- We also hear that the current Emperor at the time has fled. Likely usurped by political pressures or other enemies.
- It is said that the Hellghast Special Forces have lost contact with Ragnyll during a key operation to strike a killing blow at the heart of Voss.

Voss 641,
- The Late Emperor Von Voss the 6th, dies to illness without an heir. He has confessed in his deathbed that he had bonded with a travelling mystic during his vagrancy from political office due to the terminal nature of his illness .
- The woman in question is tracked down, pregnant with a fatherless child. She was also the sacrificial maiden of a /redacted/ ceremony. A splinter group of Royal Voss forces show up against all orders to save the child. The mother however was killed.
- The boy was confirmed to be the illegitmate child of the 6th Von Voss and named Vilkas.
- Kashir Declares damnation on Voss
- Voss Declares war on Kashir.

Kashir 646
- Voss has been Fighting Kashir for nearly 5 years, both sides taking heavy Casualties. Voss continually invades the Kashirn dunes, and the High Cities of Kashir use expanding deserts to encroach into voss's fertile lands.

- As a means to Rally the troops, the Royal Guard is activated to act as the flagbearer of the Voss forces, and performed admirably as both the spiritual core and the tip of the spear for Voss.

-The Royal Guard defeats 2 Deathgods; Beelzebub, and Deus.

- As the conquest of the Skylands continued, Ibonyte is discovered as a very unstable substance capable of giving off massive potential energy and other industrial applications. It is projected that the amount of Ibonyte in these skylands could pay off for the 4 year war with the Kashir.

Fall 646
- The Royal Guard faces defeat for the first time against an unlikely Kashirn Commander, Alfya. And is pulled from the front. The war against Kashir is placed on hold momentarily

Fall 646 Clovis
- The Wars in Kashir Intensifies and all around the world keeps an ear open for direction of the conflicts. Refugees from the Valknyres and the then isolated Kashir wastelands begin to enter the shores of Clovis in increasing amounts.

- The Exodus Eagles was formed to capitalize on the business of international extradition, and to promote state of the art weapons development in the Valknyre wars.

- The Exodus Eagles' first client turns out to be the 1st Heiress to the Kashirn crown,
Shezaradyune Seena Salazar with the intent to declare Kashir as an official nation. She then informs the Eagles that her father, Kashir's Heavenly Ruler had turn to desperate measures, to excercise his all powerful, martial power over Voss- an equally unrelenting opponnent.

=> Current: The Exodus Eagles attempt to gather all of Schezarad's family to attend the World Summit in the World's Fair in Aeon principality.

The Known Future:
- War with Kashir Ends
- [vague] Postwar Effects occur
- [vague] The 7th Emperor of Voss is crowned.
- The region in the Valknyre known as Ragnyll secedes from Voss and is declared a nation.
- Voss continues to grow as an empire of great martial power. With Ragnyll as it's mutual neighbor for a while
- Deathgods remain at large...

It is a common misconception that history progresses as time moves forward. But rather it would be more accurate to percieve it as a song, and even the beginnings and ends of its movement cannot be identified.

The beatings of an iron heart perhaps, pumped by a machine composed of a thousand parts and pieces constantly being replaced, fixed, and sometimes improved.

However, what is now known as the War of the Black Oil, was then a collection of Battles and Wars perpetrated around the time after the Great Realization, where nations worldwide had come to grips with with their identity as a people after having just come out of tumultuous age of demonstrification.

A world order begins anew and demons both real and imaginary continue to haunt this age even if there are only humans left . . . .

Sorry , folks. My rugged sense of adventure got the better of me.
I went ahead and contacted some Interceptor Pilots, of course, for the next mission only a maximum of 4 aerial elements are allowed, or my money guts are going to hurt.

= ABOUT The Interceptor
Femto Pilots may Exchange their craft for an Interceptor, provided they pay for the difference in Cloves.

The Interceptor "manned" missile design is controversial for its sheer dependence on missile take-off and rough landings. However what it gains is the ability to use twice as many weapons systems, added mobility, and raw speed. The Interceptor relies on some terrifying maneuvering in order to master its full potential.

-Exiting the battlefield may allow you to approach it from any side after one full phase.
-Instead of taking a full move or a full action, the Interceptor may only just expend one pilot action to ascend or descend.

"Say Lieutenant, what equipment is your infiltration team taking in again? They can't exactly stroll on in wearing armor and carrying rifles, at least without getting noticed. Looks like you'll all be carrying pistols, maybe a couple of grenades in your pocket but you can't be discrete with those.

Now I, on the other hand, know that the spirits in the land can be convinced to throw some help our way. Through them, I can cause distractions or incapacitate enemies from a distance without drawing attention to yourselves or them knowing a person is causing it. All provided that I walk in on foot without the jockey.

To do this, I'll be needin' some cloves to cover training to help me blend in, talk their tongue and to hide and sneak around if they get suspicious. About 300 would do, I'd be a great asset here for ya.

What do you say?"

I don't expect the infiltration team to be going in full-kit--however, if the mission goes sideways, we will airdrop in equipment as needed. Mission loadout for the infiltration team will be restricted to pistols, knives, SMG's if you can properly conceal them--preferable Izus or Langley Machine Pistols, and cigarettes. Silencers would be preferred for any firearms taken. Armor may be purchased if you can manage to keep it concealed under your Voss disguises. Grenades and satchel charges will not be taken by the infiltration team--you get caught with grenades in yoru pocket and the team is compromised then and there.

As for you, Griffin--you have my greenlight toward going for more training programmes.

September, 646

White fletching scraped at the autumn sidewalks. The first signs of the seasons turning finally arrive after what seemed like an eternity of ennui.

The lack of fighting had made the men edgy, and unfullfilled, their eyes dully going back to the daily routine of keeping the peace around the city, acting more as ceremonial figurines than actual men.

This too, is the job we signed up for. In these vacant times, we merely exist as Vilkas's caretakers, tending to his growth and watching him work through his frustrations as a powerless boy, at the helm of a colossal warmachine heading forward to destruction.

Political enemies, Riled statesmen, and gods, even the murmur of crowds ring in our ears the loudest in these vacant months. Vilkas remains quiet, like a boy possessed with a fear that everything will go wrong if he messes up again. He is 7 now and with it a new war churns.

The second Voss Army rallied under the State of Voss moves forward with half the spirit and twice the bodies that Vilkas did in the last year, the stale reports of dying men, dead Kashir, and the increase of sandstorms were followed with the usual patriotic banter.

We move forwards. The Kashir show no signs of compromise. Their people die in droves and an atrocity goes unreported every week.

And here we are, watching swans carrying their Aeoni plagues to us. I cannot wait for this year to end.

" That was the 4th tutor you drove out, Vilkas" cooed the Starstress voice as she combed back Vilkas' hair. Straight back, his forehead showing not a sign of distress.
" She was a loon, Rai. She told me that Kashirn people were all rats that eat up all the resources that causes deserts "
" And do you believe her ? "
" N- No. Not really. Even if I don't like them for using Deathgods, I can't seem to understand why they would keep trying to hurt us "
" Do you hate them for it ?"
Vilkas nods in response.
" And what will you do, will you lead armies to destroy families and fathers ? Will that make you happy ?"
Vilkas shakes his head.
" Then how oh how will our little Prince stop a war that's as old as he ? Will he grow up knowing only war and never have a time of peace ?"
" Their King "
" Hm ? "
>>
" Their King is to blame right ? He decides everything for them ! He even made deathgods !"
" But even if he is the only one to blame, his people have already taken the bullets for him. How many more men will fight and go away before you get to him ?"
" ..... "
Rai continues to comb firmly against the boy's hair.
" Am I bad king too ?"
Rai stops combing as the boy begins to shudder into a silent fit. She wraps his arms around him as the boy comes to grips with this very fact.
" Shhhh You are not. You will do well. Once this war is over, once peace has begun you can move forward not as the prince of war, but a king of peace. Would you like that ?" Rai wraps her arms around him. Her head gently resting against the boy's combed hair.
Vilkas makes no response.
" But for now, in order to know peace you must celebrate it, if only for one night. Just so you can understand the happiness people experience. "
" What is peace, " Vilkas asked himself.
The question continued to elude him even now..

Two gunners sat in their barracks, over a game of cards and a gently flickering lightbulb

"Peh, you lead the charge againist foreign aggressors and have a long string of successes, and nearly singlehanded break the enemy army over your knee, but you screw up one battle and suddenly everyone names you the scapegoat" Grumbled Borislav. Ever since once happened happened, he has not been in the best of moods, and he was one of the soldiers who escaped with only wounded pride rather then any serious injury in that particular screw up

"Unsurprising, the people get really fickle when things don't go their way, wasn't even our fault that we ended up againist someone well prepared." Replied Fredrick.

"I would feel less bitter about it if I didn't have to go out in my off duty because civvies kept spitting at me in the street. I don't like being made to feel like trash because of something beyond my control. Beyond OUR control. Three of a kind."

Fredrick placed his own cards down on the table "Flush"

"Damnit" He tossed a few notes the way of his partner. "I haven't seen any war action in months and its really starting to grate on my nerves. Doesn't make me feel any better that our 'replacement' seems to be doing a real hack job at fighting the war we were doing just fine in. We've been cast aside like a broken toy" He said, handing his cards back to pile

"Still, they at least like us enough to let us take part in the 21 gun salute, better then nothing I suppose." Fredrick shuffled the deck. "Lets make the most of this, nothing should go wrong today, its a day of celebration after all"

"I suppose. But I wouldn't put it past them that if something goes wrong, who they will point any fingers at first. Check"

With another mission looming on the horizon, Cilantro couldn't help but take notice that many of her squad-mates had plans of their own and that the post battle time wasn't as uneventful as she had predicted.

Many of the warriors she had just battled with soon turned into money-hungry scavengers, an interesting sight since she was less concerned with money then some others, the convicts being good examples. They would lug scraps, half broken weapons, pocketfuls of unused ammo, anything they could get their hands on honestly. However what appeared as an easy looting task soon turned sour for a few of them.

One in particular had his arm hacked off clean by a Voss axemen who played dead, while another had apparently fainted on the field and had to be carried back. All curiosity aside, it was when she overheard one of the doctors mention the price of an arm prosthesis that she decided to get her own hands dirty. With her free time she could make good use her of craftsmanship and mechanical skills to make the man a free prosthesis, if only for him to use until he decides to buy a high-tech one.

Not even bothering to take the time and ask him if he wanted one, she hurried down to the warehouse section where the Jockeys and Femtos are stored. She more or less lived there or in her mech's cockpit anyway, having turned her real room into a makeshift workshop for her hobbies and work. "Hey guys! Mind if I dig in the scraps again?" she asked the mechanics and other support staff. With a nod from them, she helped herself so as many parts as she could carry, broken jockey parts, small servos, voss tank scraps, anything she could use to remodel in a proper steel arm of destruction.

"Let's see now...I wonder if he would like a gun feature in his arm or if he would simply prefer a magnetized hand to hold his stuff..." she was talking to herself as sparks from her blowtorch flew all over the place. With just enough pieces she managed to find a few servos and large pieces of metal to bend and shape in an arm and hand.

It's a very dense quest--I guess you can liken trying to get into this quest to trying to get into a MOBA vidya. You kinda have to have an idea of what's going on before you play, otherwise it's too easy to get lost, too easy to be intimidated by the daunting learning curve, and too easy to lose interest. And the only way to have an idea of what is going on is to run through the archives--something not a lot of people have patience or time for. Retention rates for new players aren't that high, but that only leaves the more dedicated players to stick through it and flourish.
>>
>>19634615
Basically, if you're the kinda person who requires instant gratification and rewards, this isn't for you. It makes me curious though, are there any other quests like this on /tg/ where posters can actually play in it instead of just making suggestions for what the single protagonist should do?
>>
>>19634662

Nope. Put simply, you are playing glorified chess pieces, but its a hell of a lot more involved than watching a choose your adventure book.

There is a wargame with a battlefield, where the players not only decide their own fates, but fight to survive- even if it means taking a bullet for the team. The rules are simple, it can be played on marker and a hex board, and between two people. But there is just enough minutia in the individual units to allow for more off the cuff stuff to occur.

Off the battle players prepare and plan their next course of action. The rules that are set in place for it are actually simplistic and relies heavily on context. There is a backstory that progresses, but like most episodicals happens in arcs.

Most people learn the game by starting out as rookie recruits, and playing the role of the exposition character. The veterans that are in place would be happy to get you acclimated and have been one of the more consistent groups I've seen. Just don't forget that you're a soldier.
>>
>>19635559

Everything from unit Cohesion and leadership happens under the players' own power. The DM will actually be happy to swear off any responsibility from managing a whole army if it means being able to treat the players as active characters in a paradoxically freeform game like war.

Right now he is probably drawing aerial photos for the next mission or statting some god awful vampire army to wreck us with. ...

Ahh.. such is life in Voss.
>>
This quest is for people who do not require sleep and have flexible obligations that allow a 10 minute break every hour. On its core concept it is really nothing special. It is a turn based minigame where each turn takes an hour You just have to say what you do like move 3 hexes west, shoot enemy with guns and roll a few D10.

Then leave for an hour come back check what happened in your turn and the enemy turn and if you are still alive do it again.

Repeat this through the night until like 5 in the morning.

I really cannot understand how all the veteran players are capable of committing all the time to this game with no sleep and still have a functional life without sleep deprivation
>>
>>19635725

Simple: You either live in a timezone outside of the DM's, or you put up with sleep deprivation. Or you live a lifestyle that requires consciousness at the hours that full participation of this game demands.
>>
To be fair, summer's rolling around. And these games started out at pretty decent hours and ended around midnight during this time of the year.

Maybe it's time to shift the trend ? I don't doubt that the DM can run on any time of the day so long as his players are up for it.

As an outlaw, Donald wasn't unfamiliar with having no money. In fact, before he signed up for the Clovis State Forces, being broke was normal for him - out in the fields where people either traded, stole, or made what they needed, cloves were valuable to only those who had a place to spend them. Having lived his entire life doing just those things to get by, it made sense to Donald that if he wanted an actual gun, it would be easier to work for someone who could make one or let him use the tools to make one. And being in the middle of a military camp meant finding such person wouldn't be hard.

>>19647534

And we have to avoid killing shittons of civilians, if possible. Oh, and Vilkas may use his crown to fuck our shit up, he will likely be present at the parade.
>>
>>19647600

What does the crown actually do?
>>
>>19647784

It is entirely possible it could be a weapon of mass destruction. From what's been previously stated, though, I'd just assume it killed anyone not rightfully fit to rule the Empire.
>>
>>19647534
>>19647600

Perhaps it should be looked into if we could take one of these people in addition to the Starstress...
>>
>>19653029

Even if the opportunity arises, I would be against it. We already have a little too much on our plates right now, and kidnapping Voss royalty will not be doing us any favors.

The fishing boat that collected them seemed less than adequate to cross the Triton Sea. So meager was its pace that the gulls circled over it like a dying whale.

It was here that Isabella inhaled the sea hair as her friend plastered herself against the corner of the ship after having hurled her share of soup overboard for the third time. The salty seas had a strong smell to it but Isabella perked up when she caught a whiff of what smelled like diesel exhaust.

In the clear sky and not too much farther off from the coast of Clovis was the profile of a Voss airship. Isabella was about to make for her launcher then, disassembled for cleaning as it was but maybe she would have her friend assemble it while she sta-.

" This is the Voss Royal Guard, might you be Isabella Konnair ? "

Isabella froze in place looking up at the gigantic vessel. It was her contact come to collect her. But on a Halberd ? It was a bit excessive."

" Y- Yes Konnair Squi- Isabella. That's me I've come to deliver a package to "
"- Major Iceheart. Do not worry we come in peace. We have come to collect you Ms. Konnair. Your sister did not want this delivery to fail. Remain still as we collect you for pickup. " A click on the reciever. The Voss quackers made anyone who spoke through them klaxon and metallic.

Of course. I am just saying that securing any targets other than the ones specified for capture in our contract would not do us any good, neither in the short run nor the long run.

The rest of the trip was thankfully a lot more uneventful, after she regained her composure and introduced herself properly as a Royal Guard Requisitions Agent. She staved off boredom by chatting with one 2nd Lt. Blitz, getting filled in a bit on what was going on with the Royal Guard and her older sister, now temporarily off duty as she recovered from her grievous injuries. Upon learning that Blitz also grew up on the streets of Peace at around the same time, she actually managed to get a smile out of the officer, reminiscing about all sorts of trouble they had gotten into back then.

Before she knew it, they were landing. She stayed around long enough to offload the gargantuan coffee maker and deliver it to Fran, collect her pay, introduce herself to some of the other Terrible Children, including one vaguely familiar, and quite frightening DeathMarshal. The woman had left her one piece of information, that Iceheart had instructed her to inform Isabelle on where to find her, simply saying something about 'their old hideout'. She had thanked Beatrix for it, and set off into the winding streets of the Capital.

It didn't take her long to navigate the familiar paths, the alley just like she remembered it all those years ago. She doesn't bother to knock as she slips inside that small shack, and she doesn't move at all as she sees who is already inside. Her sister, her arms and legs, jet black, appearing like plates of armor. Her hair, cropped short, glints of surgical staples in a row, and scars on every bare inch of pale skin.

If the surprised expression on both their faces was a sight to behold, it was nothing compared to the one on her sister's as Isabelle closes the distance, and slugs her one right in the mouth. She's winding up for another when a heavy metal fist crashes down upon her, and all she sees is stars...

"Shit, sorry Isa, still not used to these abominations yet... you gonna wake up soon or...?"

'As soon as it stops hurting...' her younger sister responds, groaning a little.

"Take your time, you're not going anywhere soon, I still know how to tie a good knot."

This wakes up Isabelle, and before her eyes shoot open she's already struggling against the lengths of rope tying her to the wooden chair. 'The hell? Is this really necessary?'

"It is after I went through your bag," Iceheart circles back in front of the girl, holding up her silenced smg. "This is Clovis military equipment right, I doubt Fran asked you to smuggle this too."

'Damnit don't you trust your own sister? The hell's the matter with you I-' Isabelle suddenly finds herself looking off to the side, her cheek stinging.

"Don't call me that, it's Iceheart now, got it? I left that name behind with my old life.

The red-head glares back indignantly, the red hand print on her cheek slowly fading, "See? That's exactly what I mean. You suddenly up and leave without so much as a farewell, and you never contacted ANY of us afterwards. Just what the hell did that woman do to you?" she says, referring to the DeathMarshal.

The Major turns away, silent for a few uncomfortable moments. "I have more important things to do right now than explain myself to you. You wanted to contact me for a reason, so the sooner you tell me what's going on the sooner you can get out of here."

To make a long story short, Isabelle tells her /everything/, once again creating an uncomfortable silence once she finishes, Iceheart processing all this information before finally speaking up again.

"Very well... your radio, it can contact this commander of yours?" A single nod in response. "Then be quiet for a minute."

She goes over to her sister's bag, taking the small radio in her metal hand, and switching it on, speaking roughly, "This is Major Iceheart Konnair of the Voss Royal Guard, who the hell is this? If you want this plot of yours to have any chance of succeeding, you'll cooperate fully and fulfill all of my demands. First, if any Clovis troops are deployed in Peace, I will go right ahead and kill your target myself, am I understood?"

" These are roses you picked at the foothills of Wolf. "
Helena mused.
" The Golgona flower takes on the color of blood its drawn from its thorns. Nobles would use this to try to steal my blood but that was ages ago.. "
The flowergirl tilts her head puzzled.
Helena smiles down on the girl and gave her a silver Grahm.
" I suppose I would have to keep this now and pay you to make sure not to tell anyone that you sold me blue Golgonas " Helena squeezes the coin in her hand. The girl gleams with a devilish smile.
" Good, now go buy yourself something to eat, perhaps use the money to buy a house or two "

As the girl ponders the possibilities a phantom gust blew through the alley, and the woman was gone.

I read you loud and clear, miss "Iceheart." This is the commander of the Exodus Eagles--you may call me Plaid Penguin. Glad to know that your sister made it safely over--her gift was safe, was it not?. In any case, I'll be brief, since I'm not taking chances over whether this signal is or isn't being traced. While I would rather /not/ land troops in Peace itself, this leads to the conundrum of how my men and our target will be recovered safely.

"Simple, I will speak to her myself and ask her. In no way am I going to allow anyone under my command to be taken by force or against their will. There are things I want in return, primarily, you and this Princess will assist us in ending this war by deposing the mad Kashir king. Second, Voss will be represented equally and fairly at the World Faire, and Clovis will begin doing trade with us, which I'm sure you know will be profitable for both parties. If you can't assure me of these conditions then put on someone who can."
>>
>>19661596

Forgive my words, Major, but your Empire has not been on good terms with most any of the nations that will be represented at the World's Fair. However, in the interest of fulfilling my unit's contract to the Princess Salazar as well as furthering Cloven foreign relations, I believe we can work something out--indeed, I am sure you have heard of the number of Vosskon natives who have crossed over into Cloven territory. Trade agreement talk would be a brash move right now, but maybe after our exchange something more agreeable can be hammered out.

And, while I trust your word, I will need assurances that you will keep up your end of the deal and return the target and my men safely--collateral. Nothing against you, Major; but I will not freely waste my task force's efforts when there is no assurance other than word of mouth that an exchange will occur.

"Collateral? For what? I don't /have/ any of your men, or have you already sent in troops?" She pinches the bridge of her nose, regretting the action instantly as it makes her scar sting. Isabelle had managed to untie herself by now, and was thankfully smart enough not to try anything stupid. Iceheart jerks her head to the door, indicating she should bring in that squadmate of hers.

"Look, I know exactly how this is gonna go down. Kashir is gonna go to the Faire, and bullshit their way into getting everyone to hate Voss. I don't know about a freaking merc like you, but I happen to like my country, and the people in it."

The door opens again, and her younger sister brings in her squadmate, a dark skinned... Kashir girl... well, that's hardly surprising for some odd reason. She puts her fingers to her lips, telling them to keep it down, and resumes her conversation.

"Fine, trade can wait, but Voss will be getting equal representation at the World Faire. As for the other matter, I'll want to speak to this Princess about bringing this pointless war to its conclusion, understood?"

" We got a bead ? Shit we got a bead. Spotter, get a fix on the transmission "

[ I'm getting garbles in Valknyre] signed the mute the radioman.

" Shit just write down what you can hear, from the sounds of it the backnoise is the same as the Triton 300s we encountered from the second Army's invasion "

[ Major .. . Salazar . . .shir Ki... .represented equally . .. . . . ... foreign rela--- ] There was an audible screech in the radio that blared a banshee's shriek against the Mute's ears. With a flinch he recoils on the floor, nursing a bleeding ear.

Stiglitz could not let this chance go and braced the earpiece against his ear. Fiddling the dial one infinitesimal metric over and getting clearest read he's ever going to get.

"-thing against you, Major; but I will not freely waste my task force's efforts when there is no assurance other than word of mouth that an exchange will occur. "

The Warrant Officer held his breath as tightly as he could never do when his mute radioman did it naturally.

The conversation came to a pause. Stiglitz used this moment to collect his thoughts. A Major was involved, but on who's side. There also seemed to be a deal akin to most hostage situations. But this is Clovis after all, everything was business to them, even their whoremothers.

The world's fair, and some Kashir were also implied. Does that mean there are Kashir representatives under their nose ? And where were they going to be equally represented ?

And yet this is exactly what Stiglitz was charged to do. In the 4 years that this war has started, he was briefly ordered by the Ancients to look into its cause and probe deeply into the dubious nature of the war.

/ No Kashir was to be equal to Voss /
/ They had lost too much to simply let it end in Peace/

After his moment of clarity, Spotter emerged from the ground nursing his ear. A sideglanced sign told him to get a wire ready for Krusser.

"Yeah yeah fuck you too, keep in mind there is a chance none of this will even start." She doesn't even turn off the radio set as she tosses it to the ground, crushing it under her mechanical heel and grinding the circuitry into the floor. "You!" she orders, pointing to Natalya, repeating herself as the girl looks around nervously, "Yes you, I know you have a radio for yourself. Keep it on you, but turned off." The Kashir girl nods.

'Sis, what are you gonna do?' Isabelle approaches, a concerned look on her face.

"Most likely get executed for treason, among other things, but at this point we need to speak to Rai and get her opinion on this. If she does not wish to go then that's the end of it, but on the other hand..." The Major brushes past them, motioning for them to follow, tugging her officer cap back over her head and setting off for the Royal Guard, and with them, Rai, the key to all this.

Moving out of the shadows, Vulture skulked alongside the commander as they walked out of the communications hub.

"So now what is your plan, hm? Are you still going to try and have my men infiltrate the capitol of the most violent nation in the world, after you have set them on edge? I hope you are not expecting the usual pay to compensate the difficulty your actions have introduced into the mission."

Security will no doubt be tightened up. Any attempts at infiltration will probably be dealt with swiftly. Lakkan, you and the other infiltrators will need to gear up appropriately. Armor is now required, provided it can be concealed discreetly. Silenced weaponry is required as well. Grenades, if you can keep 'em hidden, are recommended. If you can use them, get Satchel Charges--they'll make a big mess if you can place 'em right, and big explosions could give you guys the distractions they need.

As for training programs, Lakkan, Griffin, I'm clearing funding from the unit's account for 10-hex Stare Training. Besides you two, the only ones who will be dropping with you will be Loadstone Python and Pvt. Van Halen--I'll clear funding for them for the 10-hex stare training as well.

" Making deals with the Cloves are we , Iceheart ? "
The DeathMarshall swings around on her seat. A retinue of her personal guard poking the kashirn girl, and Isabelle at gunpoint.
She takes a chair and sits on it backwards. Her lacquered black boots tapping an insidious rhythm against the carpet. It was a Bael rug.
The expression on Beatrix's face was numb and steely. But her hands gripped at some martial sword as if it was a part of her.

Appropriately, the Major's heart turns to ice, and she can't help but stare at the Marshal's weapon.
'No Ma'am, no deals have been put in place yet. It all depends on the opinion of Vilkas and Rai herself before I would even consider setting anything in place. I assume you were listening in on everything and that I don't need to explain their side?'
She glances to her sides. Both her sister and Natalya were holding perfectly still, a little scared, but cooperative.

" - YET ? "
" you harbor a criminal spy, a Kashir agent and you engage in secret talks with an army that's suspected of having killed hundred of Voss soldiers"
" And you /get caught/ doing it ? "

...caught
. . .. . CAUGHT !?
>>
" Whoever this Salazar is should be in our hands, not theirs. And whatever it is Kashir deserves is total annihilation instead of posterity "

Beatrix gets up in a violent shock. Her soldiers kick the prosthetic knees of Iceheart's with a clang. Setting her to kneel.

She stares up, trying to keep her chin held high. 'I'm doing this for Voss, for Vilkas, for you Beatrix! Nothing has been set in motion! We still have the upper hand, especially now that you have learned, through /me/, of what is about to transpire. If it is your wish that we forgo this deal then so be it, but at least let me inform Vilkas, so that he may make the decision himself.'
>>
" You know what his decision is. But I know that it's one that shouldn't be up to him. Nor one that he should make"

" Do you not taste the hatred, Iceheart ? If Vilkas does peace with Kashir, it would be the war that has started with him. That has ended under his mercy. And you think him a saint ? But I have seen the face of Voss. They will rise up and consume this boy in place of their hate for the Kashir "

" He will be a martyr. We do not get paid to make martyrs, Iceheart "

Beatrix crosses the room and grabs a receiver box from her desk. Clunky and regal , yet she throws it across the floor towards her feet. Iceheart's breath catches in her throat.

" And now that you know. Will you be willing to call his highness to this Cloven plot ?"

" Are you truly that ready to risk the lives of everyone under your command to ensure that this boy's stubborn ways will be met with whether hellfire or frozen waters ? "
>>
The Major stares at the floor sullenly, her mind racing. 'I... I understand... I will do everything in my power to ensure yours and Vilkas' wills are carried out...'

" Then reach the phone " She snaps her fingers. Upon doing so, her faceless shock troopers pierce bayonets through the hydraulic arteries of her augments, disabling them with a draining hiss. Iceheart feels no pain, but the shocked expression on her scarred face is genuine.

" Using only your remaining hand "

The Major would collapse if she wasn't able to throw her right arm out to catch herself. A gasp from across the room tells her that Isabelle is just as shocked, but the girl doesn't make any moves.

"Yeah, it's a game! Let's test our new skill."
"How do you play?"
"Just describe something. Maybe something far."
"Hmmm..." the tall man scans the vista atop the guard tower.
"I spy... squirrel's in trouble." He said, while fixating on a certain point in the horizon.
"What? No, that's not how you play it!" the girl objects.
"I'm sorry, what?" the tall man snapped out of his trance.
"You said Squirrel's in trouble?"
"Well, look." the tall man points to a tree. A squirrel is on top of it. Suddenly a Vossian golden hawk swoops in, and catches the squirrel in its talons. The squirrel is still alive.

With three limbs disabled, they're nothing more than dead weight, holding her back as she pathetically pulls herself along the Bael rug.

The dozen or so feet across the room feels like miles, and she can sense Beatrix's unwavering eyes on her every inch of the way. Unable to even meet her superior's gaze, Iceheart focuses on her objective, the phone at her feet, slowly but surely getting closer and closer. Excruciating minutes pass, before finally she's close enough, reaching out and straining to grab the receiver box. Behind her, a trail of pitch black fluid gives away the beginning of her path, the rest blending in perfectly with the infernal hellfire fur of the rug. Rolling over onto her side, her chest heaving, she waits...

Feebly, she somehow manages to pick up the handset and dial... 'Iceheart here... have Vilkas sent to the DeathMarshal's office, we require his presence.'

There was an inaudible nod on the other side and then a click. Immediately Iceheart was hoisted up and deposited on a respectable armchair. A man was sent out to summon someone, and immediately followed back with a Zcifax. And then finally Vilkas who had wandered in wearing an officer's uniform barren of any rank decorations. And finding Iceheart and her sister with a look of worry. Without a word, her men vacate the room, save for the Zcifax who was only concerned with his work.

Vilkas paces again and again. Voss police will be looking into finding Kashirn non-skeletons in the closet. The Clovis will be stealing away Rai of all people on behalf of his sworn enemy. In a moment of intense silence he begins to stop pacing and looked outside the rain soaked window. Rai's words echoing back in his mind. The images of headstones lined up outside of the palace grounds. Vilkas tilts his head to the side.

" The war against Kashir will end in Peace " He says solemnly. " There's no reason to fight anymore "
" But your Highne- "

" You claim to see the world for its ugliness, and yet to hear you of all people say you're powerless, asking us what to do. You are no king, KINGS Decide what is right. KINGS DECIDE what people should do and how they should ACT ! Highness they call you- BUT I SEE NO KING IN THIS ROOM. Only a child, A VICTIM like the rest of us !"

There was a silence. One that Beatrix didn't even notice she was in. Vilkas shakes his head pensively once again and gave a forlorn look into the storm clouds.

" In that case... " Vilkas sat cross legged in front of the window.
" It's time to say goodbye to Rai "

Oho, I almost /wish/ we were dealing with some crazed kid with a horrifying scar and his even crazier sister and father, but no. We have to deal with zombies, vampires, lycans, tanks, and a helluva lotta guns. Good thing there's anti-materiel rifles and grenades~
>>
>>19669826

Never forget the Death gods, guys.
They are slightly weaker than the angels from Evangelion.

Slightly.

And we do not have a 200 Meter high bioengineered Mega-Mecha, only our anti material rifles...

It would seem like anti-material rifles are the solution to all of life's problems.

"Silencers!? But we don't even HAVE any money right now! The only reason I even got a new arm was the kindness of other troopers. Well one of them anyway. I swear this mission is costing me more money every time it comes up. Next thing you know theres gonna be a fuckin' entrance fee or something"

>What sort of weapon would be good to take and comes with a Silencer
>>
>>19671030

The next operation will be a covert mission, Van Halen; the use of stealth will be required. Personally, I would recommend taking one of the SMG's fitted with a silencer. Otherwise, if you can take some of the Rugers and just shorten barrels, rip off the stocks, and just run them with a sling and a silencer, that would also be acceptable.
>>
>>19672973

"The U3's have a good deal of shoots in em, fairly easy to use and to conceal, I was gonna take those. But then the problem is that I am stone cold broke and need 70 cloves for silencers, or 35 cloves for those wierd arrow heads.

Which if I want them I will need to take a loan our for but then I have even more debts to pay off unless I do really well AND stea- i mean, scavenge anything I possibly could from the capitol before I leave
>>
>>19673238

Though, the R3's do more damage then the U3's, and slightly more accurate.

>Would I have to roll to strip them down to the nessicary bits?
>If there any real penalty for a stripped down R3?
>>
Urrrgh, damn capitalism eating my money

>Apply for an EZ-Loan
>500 Cloves get
>Switch Free Weapon to R3
>70 Cloves for 7 Silencers
>30 Cloves for 6 Extra Rifle Clips
>400 Cloves remaining

>>
>>19673344

To do a field strip or assemblage of any weapon requires a rolled full action.

Or an unmoved turn action.

"Since we need to do this quiet, I'm going to recommend we not kill ANYONE unless they start shooting at us first, and then only because our cover is blown.

I know, I know what you're thinking. Me, suggesting that we /shouldn't/ be killing for that nice bounty? In this case the reward for completing this mission will have to do, none of the bounties will matter if we can't secure the objective.

Aside from that, bodies will draw attention whether they or found or their absence is noted; this just makes our job all the more difficult. If my cover is blown cause one of you got trigger happy, then don't necessarily expect me to pull your ass out of the fire."
>>
"Alright, from the initial photos, let us begin with a basic plan. Van Halen, since you are lacking a bit in the stealth department, but perfectly capable of making your way amongst the populace, we will see if you can not try and set up a civil disturbance as a distraction to the forces no doubt present in Peace. Of particular note is that Chemist's shop... a well-placed charge there would be helpful as further distraction, and if you direct a mob near that bridge you might draw away enough attention that the rest of us can slip into the palace grounds to the South unnoticed along the other bridge. Crow, if you're coming along you have two choices. Either you can try and secure a rendezvous point, likely at one of the houses in the city, or you can come with the infiltration team to provide more muscle. If you do secure a building, you could cover us from high up, but if things go wrong it would be nice if you were present on the ground to help as well. Sphinx and Gryphon, you're with me. Gryphon, the most appropriate use for your magic I found would be swimming across the river and opening a tunnel into one of the houses on the other side for the whole team, but if you have a better idea you may pursue it."

"Once we enter the city, we will be going to full radio silence. The Royal Guard does have one of our radios now, after all, and even if we simply used a different channel, I expect they will be monitoring the airwaves. You have been briefed on nonverbal communication methods, and how to spot them over long distances - make use of that training!"
>>
>>19679391

I'll see what I can do.
>>
>>19679391

"Sir, is there a chance of deployment for the rest of us in the event things go south? It was my understanding that there would be a second distraction team that would be deployed by airdrop into the city."
>>
>>19679949

"Going by what I have heard, the use of the distraction team is a bit more dangerous now, due to the threat on our target's life. If things go south and we are discovered, everyone is probably going to have to work together to pull the infiltrating team out - and maybe we might still have a chance at completing the mission, too. But the operation as a whole is Penguin's strategy, not mine, you'll have to take it up more with him."
>>
“Good evening, your Stargazingness. Excuse the rush and my lack of observing the respect you so deserve, but we must really be on our way. As you may have noticed by all the lights in town being snuffed out, the situation has become very urgent and all too real. If you'll just follow me, I think putting as much distance between us and our hunters would be wise. It would be nice to say goodbye, but it would be better we slip out before anybody realizes”

Should the infiltration team be compromised, Team B will drop directly into the city and distract the Voss forces from the infiltration team. Team A will then extract, followed by Team B utilizing a tactical withdrawal.

Should Team B be deployed, our objective is one word: mayhem. Create as much chaos as possible and do not stop until we have received word that Team A has successfully extracted, then we will exfil ourselves. What Lakkan said is true, though--if Team A is compromised, we'll all have to fight our way out of the city. Security's been revamped, so expect anything and everything--armor, infantry, specialized units. The Royal Guard are in town, among others, so be alert.

Team B's primary deployment zone will be directly north of the eastern bridge. The secondary drop zone will be north of the Western bridge.

You must under any circumstances, not interfere with the parade. And if you are arrested by Gustav's men. Let them. You will be seen as nothing more than a rabble rouser to be put away for the night. If you engage in a fight it would truly be much worse for you.

Stiglitz's Agents on the other hand will not be merciful. You are more useful to them alive. and they are trained in non-fatal shots.

They will attempt to capture you and take you to their airship should that be the case. If you of all people let that happen take it upon yourself to end your life before you become our problem.

Alright boys, listen up!

The mission objective for this mission is to secure and extract the Starstress Rai, the young Princess Salazar's half-sister. Rai is currently held somewhere in the Voss capitol of Peace, possibly on the grounds of the Royal Palace itself. Secondary objective is to retrieve and secure operative Konnair Squirrel. Konnair has been out of radio contact with the base, and is assumed to have been captured. It is currently unknown where Konnair is being held, though it is likely that she is being held in the same area as the Starstress Rai

Breakdown of the battle plan is as follows. Team A, the infiltration team, will be inserted first. They will blend in to the populace, locate the Starstress and Konnair, and extract them both. If Team A is compromised, Team B will air drop right in to the city of Peace and create a diversion, allowing for Team A to extract as the majority of the Voss force will be drawn away to deal with Team B, the heavier threat. After Team A has exfiltrated, Team B will exfil.

The Voss have employed a new piece of technology in Peace that has shut down all electronics. I repeat--soon as the Team enters Peace, radio silence is being enforced by the Voss; the only usable radio channels are public broadcast channels. Lakkan's non-verbal communication training should come in handy just for this situation.
>>
>>19689642

Since we are dropping in during the Voss Feather Festival, security can be expected to be heavy. Several prominent Voss commanders will be present, not to mention the Voss Royal Guard. Expect heavy infantry and lots of armor. Flying units are a possibility. Knowing the Voss, a military parade wouldn't be out of the question, either. Also of note is the possibility of a high concentration of non-combatants in the area--civilians. If things go bad, let's try to avoid unnecessary collateral damage--"Festival Massacre" doesn't exactly print well.

Infiltration Team--keep your heads about you, keep cool, and we can get through this mission without collateral damage. Rescue Party, if things go sideways, we'll need to make as big of a boom as we can. We will have to draw the heat /off/ of the infiltration team, and then exfil /ourselves/ once the Infiltration Team is away.

Any questions?
>>

LakkanVulture recommened rabble rousing as a distraction. Would it still be advisable to start a protest?

Grouse, what did you have in mind to incite the minds of the people over? The Kashir war? It should be expected that any signs of the beginnings of any sort of civil uprising will be dealt with swiftly by the Voss security teams.
>>19689730

Aerial photos of Peace show a large undeveloped patch of land to the NE of the town. That will be our exfil point.

Any other questions?
>>
>>19689855

I'm not trying to start a riot ma'am. But considerin' its a major festival just had a huge blackout with little to show for it and most likely tighter regulations, rations, and longer work hours for a meat grinder of a war there will definately be a few people who will want to vent

Like a peaceful - but angry - protest
>>
>>19689884
"I'd recommend not stirring up any riot unless it looks like we've been compromised. The voss are sure to respond in force to put it down, and both the military and civilians may hinder our operation."

I'm pretending to be a Voss Civilian. They will never know its us. And these people have good reasons so protest as it is.

>>
>>19690081
