The year is 298AL, and people say your father is coming back to the Shell with a new friend for you! You are April Bulwark, and things have been pretty boring while your big brother's been off at the Tournament, so you hope you'll have lots of fun with Arya Stark.
But first, we need to know something about you. Roll 2d6, the first 5 results are little April's history, goal, motivation, virtue, and vice
>>
rolled 2, 4 = 6

>>19566657
THE MAESTER RETURNS!
>>
rolled 6, 3 = 9

rollan
>>
rolled 4, 4 = 8

>>19566668
Little April traveled across the sea then?
>>
>>19566684
(The little girl wants revenge. Wat.)
>>
History: You travelled across the narrow sea
Goal: Revenge
Motivation: Lust
It's just like one of my Japanese animes!
>>
>>19566687
And is motivated by lust. Bigger wat. Did we just roll up a yandere?
>>
rolled 1, 5 = 6

>>19566706
Rolling for virtue.
>>
rolled 5, 1 = 6

>>19566725
Oh, so our little yandere is honest?
>>
>>19566733
And apparently she's cruel as well. That fits.
>>
Isn't bullwark house in the narrow sea? So that actually may make sense. But lust and revenge...
>>
>>19566696
She's getting just the right friend for that.
>>
File: 1340289288958.png-(47 KB, 310x405, SoIaF RP Abilities.png)
47 KB
Okay, we still need a virtue and vice
Also, as an Adolescent noblewoman, April has 110 points available for abilities. An ability at 3 costs 10XP, and every point after that costs another 30XP.
>>
>>19566738
Maybe she has an obsessive crush on a lord she met over there? And wants to murder his wife?
>>
I can't find a way to make sense out of this. Do we want her to become an intrigue mastermind right?
>>
>>19566748
Let's put 4 into cunning, 3 into deception, stealth, persuasion, agility, knowledge and awareness. Everyone cool with that?
>>
So, if I very much want to play this with my group, as a means to get away from dungeons and taverns, but have absolutely no faith in their ability to into political intrigue, what should I do?

We're up for an adventure in Rogue Trader, so I've got some time to work it out.
I made a Bastard Hedge Knight of the Riverlands, in search of a more pro-active and less mad set of rulers.

My brother made a Guardsman of some town in the Mountains of the Moon, whom was convicted of a crime he did not commit; and that is the reason he's been serving as a Guardsman (as an alternative sentence).

He is the only person I expect to actually role-play. The others are younger, and much less exposed when it comes to novels and films, and such. Their expanse of fantasy goes so far as LotR, and whatever one fantasy novel a parent may have read to them when they were 9. While they've all expressed a good interest in the Game of Thrones show, none of them have actually watched it.
>>
>>19566787
Yep. Our little yandere Lex Luthor.
>>
>>19566748
Oh wait, the maximum for adolescents is 4. So 10 XP for 3, and 40XP for 4.

>>19566758
Or she was captured by Shradder and is angry at him, with her lust and cruelty directed at the local smallfolk.
S-stupid stable boy, don't think I got this food for you, the cooks just made too much. It's not like I like you or anything, jeez.
>>
>>19566811
OK, I like that a lot more. Tsundere April, with a murderboner for the Shradder.
>>
So she became so obssesed with someone that her love warped. She wants to fuck/kill them as the ultimate expression of love.
Works with the honest crueltey
>>
>>19566801
yeah, should work
>>
>>19566824
does the honest cruelty have any implication crunch-wise?
>>
>>19566801
You still have 10 left over for another ability

>>19566806
Maybe play a game in the middle of a war, or small conflict with some nearby rival house? That way there's obvious allies and enemies. Or let them roll Cunning, Knowledge or Status to realise they're about to do something stupid.
>>
>>19566836
Throw it into fighting then.
>>
>>19566834
No, unless you actually take the drawbacks Honour-Bound (ie Nedmode) or Cruel Insanity (Clegane/Mad King)
>>
>>19566849

As an adolescent, April gets 6 destiny points. You can take up to 3 benefits, each costing one destiny point
>>
>>19566869
You need to have Fighting 3 (and the Fencing specialty) to become a Water Dancer, and Syrio Forel is coming to visit
Which reminds me, April has 40XP for specialties, each costing 10XP per rank put into them
>>

Also, drawbacks. Each one gives April an extra Destiny point

So, let's put 1B into fencing then, another 1B into memory, 1B into Sneak, and 1B into Notice.
That OK with everyone?
>>
>>19567009
That would make her good at using the Braavosi Blade, Small Sword, and a fencing dagger. Braavosi blades are harder to use than small swords, but improve your defense and do more damage.
>>
>>19567044
That's fine. Let's do it then. Looks like April is all statted out.

The horns and drums sound, signalling that your father's ship has been sighted. Your handmaiden dresses you well enough to meet the daughter of such an important lord as Stark, and you are brought down to the harbour, where several of your family's knights, sworn swords, and guardsmen have assembled to receive their Lord. The galley arrives, and off steps your father, his arm in a sling. With him are Maester Splinter and a fat old knight leading his guards. Behind them come a small troop of guardsmen wearing the wolf of Winterfell, along with an ugly girl about your age wearing a grey-blue tunic and black trousers, and a short Braavosi man with curly black hair. Your father hugs you with his good arm and says "Arya, this is my daughter, April Bulwark. I think you two will get along well." Arya pulls bit of a face, clearly unimpressed by the frilly dress you're wearing.
>>
>>19567197
Nemesis seems like a good drawback. It's the bitch that stole her man! YANDERE HO!
>>
>>19567197
Actually haunted would have been pretty awesome for Leonardo. You get distracted by flashbacks, but you get to add your memory bonus to your fighting results because you've seen some shit, man.
>>
>>19567197
I'd love to have her attractive, so that when the backstory would be that she went full yandere about someone and have dreams of cruel revenge about who took her interest away from her.
When she the guy will came back to her because she became more attractive she'll lost her interest and instead play a cruel game with the boy's feeling.
I suck at these things, I know.
>>
>>19567244
Don't worry, she has time to develop huge tracts of land and plenty of talent.
>>
>>19567222
Tsundere yuri, please.
>>
>>19567258
well, then I'd say we can at least take charismatic since that sounds very useful, but it seems nobody is willing to spend destiny points. No drawback seems fitting to the character to me

Curtsy
"Pleased to meet you."
>>19567331
Dude. They're what, 12?
>>
You all head across the bridge to The Shell, where the servants have prepared a meal for you all. Your father and the maester discuss house matters, and are soon joined by Ser Casey, Master at Arms, who fills him in on what he'd missed. Arya goes up to you and says "This is my dancing master Syrio Forel. He's from Braavos. Have you ever been to the Free Cities? What is it like there?"
>>
>>19567357
Arya should be 8. And I did not with a word say now.

>>
>>19567427

"What kind of dance do you teach? Isn't dancing boring?"
>>
>>19567451
Yep.
"Really?" Arya seems impressed. "Did you see the Bravoes water dancing? Can you fight? We should spar!".
Syrio smiles at his pupil's enthusiasm. "Yes, this girl would be a good dancing partner for you."
>>
>>19567495
"I teach the Water Dance of Braavos. It is swift, and sudden, and ends when red water spills from one of the men and he dies."
>>
>>19567495
Wait. We are somehow trained with bravosi blade and dagger, am I right?
>>
>>19567498
"I saw it once. It was amazing!"
>>
>>19567524
Yeah, but it's possible her Braavosi isn't good enough to recognise the term Water Dance, and Syrio hasn't introduced himself as First Sword of Bravos, as he hasn't yet been here for five minutes
>>
>>19567531
>>19567539
Well, let's show them our weapons, I want to see their reactions

When you return to the Shell you ask your father if you can show Arya your swords, and he lets you go. He's got important work to do now that he's back at his seat. You run up to your room with her and show off the little sword and dagger you got from Braavos. Arya is impressed, and shows you Needle, a present from her bastard brother Jon, who serves the Night Watch.

Meanwhile, in the great hall, Lord Bulwark, the Maester, and Ser Casey are discussing House Bulwark's holdings. Donatello's victories at the tournament have won hundreds of Dragons for the Bulwark coffers, and great prestige for the house. You have two points to spend on increasing holdings, and with the money you have you can now afford to hire an artisan (master smith, mason, or other tradesman), improve your soldiers arms and armour, or buy seige engines (although you'd need 3 extra power to raise engineers to use them)

> an artisan (master smith, mason, or other tradesman)

What's the benefit of these?
>>
>>19567641
Lessee...
Artisan sounds like a good idea. Let's get our hands on a decent smith.
Let's put the two points into law, or population.
>>
>>19567652
Smiths improve your weapons, giving a +1 bonus to your fighting test results. Masons improve the defence bonus of your fortifications by 1. Other tradesmen just add 1 to house fortune rolls, which isn't that great.
>>
>>19567673
I guess we could get a smith.
Would this lead into possibility of exporting high quality weapons giving us a trade good?
>>
>>19567703
I think it would. So let's do it.
>>
With all the talk of the Bulwarks, young noblemen of the Crownlands are taking their family fleets and going pirate hunting, making trade easier and your smallfolk more confident about taking their fishing boats far from the island

It is agreed that you send a raven to Donatello, letting him know to find a good Smith who wants to take up residence in your castle.
>>
>>19567766
Alright. So what has Ser Casey been up too in our absence? Holding down the shell obviously, but what else?
>>
>>19567804
"Nothing much, my lord. Smallfolk squabbling over grazing lands, your bull gored my dog, my prize ram fucked your ewes and I want some lambs, that sort of thing. We managed to capture a few smugglers, and they're down in the cells if you want to pass judgement."
>>
>>19567641
>You have two points to spend on increasing holdings
Did we increase anything to increase or are we not eligible since we chose the smith?
>>
>>19567851
"I might as well see those smugglers. What were they bringing in?"
>>
>>19567898
I increased Law by 2, but if it's looking like people want to do something else that's fine.
>>
>>19567222
>Arya ugly
You do know she resembles Lyanna Stark, right?
>>
>>19567910
"Spices, silks, trinkets and baubles, whores for King's Landing and young boys for god knows what. One of them tried to bargain for his freedom with something about a Braavosi poisoner, and I said we'd see what you had to say about it when you returned."
>>
>>19567939
It's cool.

>>19567986
lets what this is about the prisoner
>>
>>19567939
I think law will do just fine
>>
>>19567941
I'm thinking she gets prettier as she grows up, and that she cleans up pretty well, but right now she's Arya Horseface and her haircut and grubby clothes aren't exactly flattering (even before Yoren does anything to it.)
>>
>>19567986
Oh yeah. We want to know about that poisoner. We'll let him go. And catch him before he leaves. We never said we'd let him off the island, did we?
>>
>>19567986
Let's question them. One at a time to see if they sing the same song.
>>
>>19568022
You walk down into the depths of the Shell. The smuggler is kept in one of the ordinary cells, not the Bath Houses where you cannot sit or lie down during high tide, or the oubliette where the dark and the maddening crash of waves drive men to drown themselves. The man speaks with a Tyroshi accent, and begs for his freedom. "My Lord, I hope only to serve you and save you from a Braavosi villain who works with our mutual enemy, that foul Lyseni pig Shraddar."
>>
>>19568155
"Do you have anything that can prove your claims?"
>>
>>19568170
Ask this.
>>
You know, it would be cool if all of the ASOIAF quests going on right now were in the same continuity...
>>
>>19568206
That it would. That it fuckin' would.
>>
>>19566950
we should take threatening... just to add a bit of distinction between her and arya.

arya is the tomboish wildcat while April is the menacing ice queen you can feel in your bones will be the one to poison your drink or throw a dagger in your face even on her best days.

I already have this nice image of her and Arya meeting another couple of noble girls, and on a perceived slight that would have arya storm away, april would insist on joining their party. then suggesting to relocate to a better locale, offering to lead and bay for room and board. on the way they would happen on a abandoned ally where Aprill accidentally on one of the girls dress, apologises profusely and tries to clean it up, only for it to end up on the two grils heads, and then having them suddenly thrown to the ground. where then they can hear screams of fighting while getting a sound thrashing.

when it is all over it is known that four noble girls were ambushed and beaten by scum in a alley where they should not have been.

April, the evil bitch had some acting classes and had the believed to be similar victims only to have fought off two boys they cant identify, and having the scars too prove- the bruises and violet tracts from practising as well as a deliberate punch in aryas and aprils face to make it believable.

she is after all a really vindictive bitch after all, so lets make her threatening.
>>
>>19568221
what makes you so sure two boys were not anonymously hired to do the kicking, april most likely willing to take a beating knowing she and her friend can give back , while the two other dunces cant.

No need to expose yourself to unwanted risk when you can make it the real thing, if you can afford it are willing to inflict on yourself the real pain anyway...
>>
>>19568248
Even better.

psychoApril gets her vengeance and the two idiots are grateful to her and Arya for getting a sound beating. most delightful indeed for her yandere self.

also not any chance the girls spreading rumours the girls of house bulwark and stark beat them up - but defended them. -of course after to boys end up mysteriously knifed to death. a thing for which April most definitely has a alibi.
>>
>>19568170
"No my lord, but you will find them true, I swear it. There is a man, Glarus Ptek, who Shraddar has sold a great quantity of the Tears of Lys, and something of a plot against you. We heard his crew speak of it at Pentos, before they left for King's Landing."

>>19568216
>>19568206
Pretty sure Targ Quest is a little bit before us, but if he's still off privateering around the time of the Tourney of the Hand, that would probably influence us a bit.
>>

"He is an infamous scoundrel and villain. Other smugglers or pirates may know him, especially Braavosis. He is likely still in King's Landing, but I have been at sea and in your dungeons for some time, and cannot be sure. I hear that Lysene dog Salladhor Saan has agreed to work with your lord Stannis, he may know something."

>>19568344
Not sure. I know there's House Bussard, but I think they aren't doing a quest. I've got some ideas about how they'd be involved already. It would be awesome to have a sane Viserys, that would clear me to do all sorts of other plot-derailing things.
>>
>>19568353
I guess they'll be singing songs about this one.
>>
>>19568405

Then so it shall be!
>>
>>19568405
Send a raven to Donnie then. Tell him we've got someone we'd like him to bring back with him, if he's got the time.
Send another raven to Stannis. Tell him we wish to speak to Sann.
>>
>>19568405
[Potential spoilers ahead]

Is it still canon that Lysa poisoned Jon Arryn in this version of Westeros?
>>
>>19568439
Now how would the Bulwarks possibly know that? They have heard from Varys that someone wealthy seems to have a working relationship with Shraddar, which could be due to making a small purchase several months ago.
>>
>>19568428
As in, you want him to return to King's Landing with the smuggler after he's returned here?

so we take threatening as a dis?
personally id prefer disturbing habit, and go for a disturbing smile and becoming to sweet and accommodating whenever she does not like something, but threatening is nice too.

so disadvantages:

>threatening? yay/nay
>Disturbing habbit? yay/nay

although disturbing habbit could prove detrimental if we want to go undercover.
>>
>>19568578
Disturbing Habit only applies if you're recognised, and makes persuasion harder if you're not intimidating, as does thretening. Haughty means you don't care about others emotions and are mean to smallfolk, which could work and be less crippling. Or just make her insane. I AM THE TURTLE! YOU CANNOT HARM ME!
>>
>>19568539
>>19568556

Donnie is comming back?

Wouldn't it be better if he stayed there and try to officially get to the bottom of things about the poisoning framing, while unofficially helping Ned? - seriously Ned needs all the help and protection he can get.

it would be nice of donnie to decide and stay around kings landing, so that he can avoid commitment to Iris while at the same time getting to find the one needing some skull bashing - he knows he cant touch Orten now, but someone else will do to. and he has a badass vassal too, to bring more skull bashing to the table. - sad thing is, ned is shit of a sneak and will get killed regardless. we would need a sneak there and we have none ready to deploy.
>>
>>19568578
Oh, and it means a habit you have that gives you a bad reputation. Like Donatello and horse sodomy. Or Donatello and sheep sodomy. Or Donatello and dog sodomy. Or Donatello and dolphin sodomy.

Making a mental note to add this information to your letter to Donatello, you ask the smuggler about Shraddar. "I know he is your enemy, and your fleets have clashed in the past. I know he is Lyseni, and they are all poisoners, drunks, and whoremongers. It will not be long before the armies of Tyrosh drive them into the sea."

Nah, lets not make any promises.
Just say we wont hang him for now while we work out if his information was true

"Yes, my lord. I swear it in Rhllor's light."

With that out of the way, you can talk with Ser Casey about troop training, or switch to April or Donatello's perspective.
>>
>>19569050
Let's see how Donnies holding up.
>>
Things have been going well for Donatello in King's Landing since the Lugus family left. He's been enjoying the markets, drinking with Thoros and a Nights Watch recruiter called Yoren, and trying to find the missing Maiyo Vierro, that Braavosi merchant with a flamable drink. Earlier this morning a message arrived at the Red Keep by raven, addressed to him.

"My dearest friend and brother in arms Donatello Bulwark,
I send this letter to King's Landing and to your home. I cannot express how sorry I am to have fled from the melee after claiming my family's blade, but I was eager to leave that scorpion pit called King's Landing and return to my homeland Dorne where men understand such acts of honour. For months, I had travelled under the name Bryan Telson in hopes of finding the man who killed my family and stole my birthright, Scorpion. It was only days before the melee that I learned it was none other than Ser Gennady, with whom I had travelled! With your aid I maimed the criminal and reclaimed his stolen blade, and for that I am eternally thankful. If you are ever in Dorne, my halls will always welcome you.
In friendship,
Lord Tygor Wyl"

I recognise this name. Where have we seen him before?
>>
>>19569335
He was at the Tourney, remember?
>>19569203
We just made another ally. One with an awesome sword. Hell yeah.
I guess we should check in on how Ned is doing.
>>
>>19569355
I meant his actual name, Tygor Wyl. I may be being retarded here, though.
>>
>>19569368
Google it.
>>
>>19569395
Oh, right. Thanks.
>>
>>19569368
People talked about their suspicions that that was Ser Bryan's real identity.

>>19569355
Ned is lying abed. Sometimes you think you hear him say "Lyanna". Soon another messenger comes with a letter from your father. He instructs you to hire a weaponsmith for the Shell, and tells you that an imprisoned smuggler claims a Braavosi named Glarus Ptek is the man Shradder used to bring the poison to King's Landing, and that you should try to find him.
>>
>>19569454
Let's go look for that smuggler then.
>>
>>19569454
Off to the amazing spider then, I suppose. Also might be nice to find the guy that made that bull helmet...
>>
>>19569471
Alright, what's your plan? May I suggest it would be hilarious for Donatello to attempt to disguise himself as a pirate?
>>
>>19569506
He has a shop, doesn't he?
I'm sure if we ask around we can find it.
>>
>>19569515
Firstly this
>>19569519
Then try to find a way to contact Varys, and then go to the port, where a pirate should be
>>
>>19569454
inform Ned of our planed whereabouts and outfit.

lets become a drunken pirate for some time.
how could our latest vassal fit in as a pirate? is he lecherous and can he be as hungry for gold as the worst of them?

I am certain our sodomisation streak can simply push us past any other slights about not being scum as soon as we lose our fine clothing and other nobility markings.
>>
>>19569534
You walk the Street of Steel behind the Sept of Baelor, where the greatest smiths are found. Asking about a bull's helm, some apprentices point you towards the smithy of Tobho Mott, the Qohorian armourer and his apprentice Gendry. As you enter, he stands and says "Ah! The brave Donatello Dannett! I presume you are here to spend your winnings on a new suit of armour? If so, you have made a very wise decision. I am the finest armourer in all the Crownlands!"
>>
>>19569648T
Turtle Armor?
I'm thinking a Sheild that looks like a shell, at least.
>>
>>19569568
Not sure who you're talking about. If you mean Ser Joris, he's gone up to The Shell. You could have one of your guardsmen go with you though. You can leave a note, I guess, if Ned wakes up while you're gone.
>>
>>19569648
>Donatello Dannett
He meant Bulwark, it's 5AM here.
>>19569676
Tobho is no liar, he truly is a great armourer. If you wanted, he could make you armour tinted with the Bulwark colours and a turtle theme to it, as well as a better shield than you have now that has a sort of shell pattern to it.
>>
>>19569753

Tell him honestly we are looking for more that an armour, we need an armourer for our castle and we are not talking about some small castle off no where we are talking about the Shell second only to Dragonstone on the Blackwater Bay.
>>
>>19569840
"Ah. Well, I do have many skilled apprentices who I could release into your service, but they're all working in my shop. I would need some kind of compensation for the lost work and all the trouble it would cause me."
He takes you into the actual workshop, oppressively hot from the forges and steam. One young man catches your eye, a big strong apprentice with black hair.
>>
>>19569894
So, we have funds available to pay him right?
Seems like we could hire this young apprentice.
>>
>>19569894

"Apprentices? So none of them is ready yet?"
>>
>>19569909
Sure. You've got your winnings with you, and Tobho is happy to take a few Dragons in exchange for him. You soon learn that his name is Gendry, and he tells you that he's met Jon Arryn and Ned Stark.
>>
>>19569938
Inquire politely into how such a young apprentice has met two Hands.

While whisking him back to the ship before we look for Varys, ofcourse.
>>
>>19569919
"They are all skilled smiths, but I have not yet judged any of their works to be Masterpieces. I am sure that they will not disappoint you, my Lord."
>>
>>19569950
He's not sure, really. They both came to the smithy and wanted to talk with him about his life and his mother and the man who paid for his apprenticeship. He's used to seeing important knights and nobles, but usually it's to do with their armour not him.
>>
>>19569975
Well then try to get a good price on a shield and apprentice, then try to find varys to find the pirate
>>
You head towards the Red Keep and soon find Varys.
"Ah, Donatello. So glad I could find you. It seems your father has some of my little birds stranded on his island. They're all boys, below fifteen years of age, and their ship was taken by your men. It would be so kind of him to help my fledgelings on their way."
>>
>>19569975
how about getting him relocated to the shell? - i doubt he would want that since kings landing most likely sees more clientèle from a knightly POV, but the shell has a port and a lot of people from the free cities come by , making it a good way to expand his horizons and inquire about other kinds of forging, weapons and armours- especially once the tighter relationship with the free cities get established.- five years there with his apprentices and he would have a entire new collection of gear to sell for the masters at arms and knights of Westeros, and everyone wanting for something more exotic yet still from a reputable Westerosi smith would come to him.
>>
>>19570043
"I guess my father will be more than happy to help, if you can help him too to find Glarus Ptek". Then check his reaction.
>implying he can have a spontaneous reaction
>>
>>19570054
"That sounds good, milord. I've seen some of the things those Tyroshi smiths can do."
>>
>>19570079
>>19570054
Who are we talking about, the smith or the apprentice?
>>
>>19570075
He seems to be thinking hard.
"Hmm. I have heard he is in the city, but I couldn't say where. Did he kill some of your fishermen?"
>>
>>19570089
Tobho really wouldn't be interested in going. He's the top armourer around here, and anything other than a Great House would be a pretty big step down.
>>
>>19570103
Something like that, yes. It involved the Tears of Lyss, if that might ring any bells.
>>
>>19570124
He doesn't need to know that we know, just tell him that he might know where Shraddar is
>>
>>19570124
"You think he was working for Shraddar? It is possible, they have worked together in the past. Unfortunately I cannot be of much help, but I will see what I can discover over the next few days."
>>
>>19570159
"Thank you Varys."
Send the apprentice home on the next available ship, and that raven back with a message to the Shell informing that you've found a smith.

Let's see how April is doing.
>>
>>19570159
Send a raven to Leonardo to keep him informed about the apprentice, Glarus Ptek and Lord Tygor Wyl. Also how much time has passed? Should we check on Stark?
>>
I'm off to sleep, if this thread dies by the time I'm up I'll start another one.

Oh, and regarding the questions in the last thread, Varys was talking about Ser Bryan/Lord Wyl, and says some platitudes about how the Lannisters are powerful and nobody wants to cross Tywin, yadda yadda yadda.
>>
>>19570210
This is the same day, I'm thinking have you and April and Leonardo do whatever they need to, and work out what you're spending XP on, then timeskipping to when Ned wakes up.
