The tea party with the kobolds and Gehenna complete, you go down below deck, looking for the single locked cabin, where Grayson is guarding over Ragnarok.
You need to speak with him.

Grayson clicks open the lock as you approach the door, and then you step in. Ragnarok is sitting in the back of the cabin, in a chair, arms crossed. You note that the food you left for him had been eaten.

"So." He said, somewhat sullenly. "Based on the fact that I am still here means that my attempt to resurrect my master failed. Either that. . or he is on his way."

"It was preferable to my alternatives." He said, and shrugged. "So, why no shackles?" He asked, raising his wrists. "A single guard, no shackles. . You took my dagger, but it would not have been hard to break out of here."

>>

>He beat him the fuck up. But other than bruises and superficial wounds, it's nothing serious- and Ragnarok isn't healed at all.

"Magic dire bear guard, plus I'm relatively certain you'll never be able to perform magic again."
"I know." He said. "I can feel it. My power is still inside of me, but it has been severed from my control. I'm not talking about magic. I could have killed your guard quite easily." He said. "But I chose not to. Now. Why are you here in my *cell*?"

"I would like to at least try to understand you. Why you did what you did... and I can't really afford to decrease the Kalak population even further right now."
>>
"I would like to at least try to understand you." You say. "Why you did what you did... and I can't really afford to decrease the kalak population right now."
"Three females." He said, holding up three talons. "Neiriel, Kaliel, Raziel. Those are the three that cannot die. They are important, for shapeshifting doesn't change how quickly you age or how long you live. A kalak can produce an egg every two years. They each have around four hundred years left, average, before they can no longer have children. Don't worry about the population- the three of them will live much longer than you will."
He shrugged, and leaned back in his chair.
"Eidolon had a plan for the world. You know that, as well as I do. He had a fantastic plan, and it would have made the world just like the elves live. A paradise, a utopia. You think I didn't know he was insane? He was brilliant, and he would have freed the world and elevated it. And then I would have killed him. That was why I did what I did."
>>
>>19697686
"How, exactly, would he have created a utopia? And what makes you so sure that you would have been able to kill him?"
>>
>>19697686
"But why do you think having him alife is necessary for that? You could have worked on making the world a utopia with your brother. Without Eidolon."
>>
>>19697686
``Well, what do you know! I also have a plan to create a utopia for the entire world but mine hinges on not being a murderous bastard.

And I seriously doubt you could have even scratched Grayson. You have no magic, no weapons, and quite frankly, are rather deficient physically.``

I fucking hate Canadian Keyboards.
>>
"How, exactly, would he have created a utopia? And what makes you so sure that you would have been able to kill him?"
"You can always kill what you create, if you are clever." He says. "The ritual bringing him to life was deliberately imperfect. The spell bringing him back to life would have fallen apart on my command. As for his utopia. . . He's Eidolon. King, messiah, hero of all elves. You know of Galadriel's Light, according to the ones on your deck. He's the only one that could have convinced the elves to give those flowers away to everyone. With that much land, that much magic, people would not want for food, space, or power. We would simply have it. But without Eidolon and his plans, those fey won't take their grubby, translucent fingers off of their precious flowers."
>>
>>19697714
What makes them inferior to American keyboards?
>>
>>19697732
The fact that they are using the American Keyboard but have replaced the slash with é and a bunch of other things. On the bright side I figured out where the " is.
>>
The flowers are already out of their hands. Soon the former wasteland, New Arcturus will be covered in them and after that they will continue to spread. If thats all it took for your plan of utopia to see fruition then you are a fool since you two had already given me the seeds to do so.

However I doubt magic will end all problems... it will simply give the corrupt more power to do what they wish. And wars will become more destructive as a result. Magic made the wastelands in the first place after all.
>>
>>19697724
"I believe they already have. And does it matter in this case? The problem with Utopias lie in the fact that a perfect society can never be achieved. ANd even then, the first time Eidolon was resurrected he showed so interest in convincing the elves to part with their flowers. Instead he ran around stealing magical artifacts and killing people. He even went out of his way to avoid being identified as Eidolon. I do not believe he truly wanted to create a utopia. In fact, it seems more like he wanted power."

"The seeds themselves aren't important." He said dismissively. "It's that the council will send whatever they can to destroy the flowers. . and whoever took them. Anyone could walk in and take the seeds... but when they bloom, you'll have keepers raining from the sky. You're going to make enemies of the elves, girl. And with their new airship, they can reach you no matter how far you run. You'll end up having to kill them. You know that, right?"

"And does it matter in this case? The first time Eidolon was resurrected, he showed no interest in convincing the elves to part with their flowers. Instead he ran around stealing magical artifacts and killing people. He even went out of his way to avoid being identified as Eidolon. I do not believe he truly wanted to create a utopia. In fact, it seems more like he wanted power."
"True." He said. "Eidolon wanted the Archaeoteca, so he could win the game. No more meddling from outsiders like the Wanderer, or Tyr, or Azariel. Ending the Game was the first part of his plan. Utopia was the second. He never told us the third, but I would kill him before that."
>>
What is Archaeoteca?
>>
>>19697837
Eidolon was incredibly powerful, I see no reason why he couldn't have repaired the flaw in his resurrection and then killed you. He may have been crazy, but I bet he had a plan for everything. He used an anti-magic artifact against me, knowing that it was my main power...of course, he did fail to plan for bricks, but if you brought him back he wouldn't make a mistake like that again.

wee rambling while trying to make a point
>>
"What is the Archaeoteca?"
"The key to becoming a god." He said. "Artifacts have great power. You know that, I know that, everyone knows that. And if a single being could take hold of every artifact in the world, that would give him unprecedented power. Even more than you have, with just as much freedom."
"Eidolon was incredibly powerful. I see no reason why he couldn't have repaired the flaw in his resurrection and then killed you."
"He could not have." Ragnarok said. "To repair a flaw as significant as I made, he would have had to kill himself and do it all over again. Which would be impossible. I was going to move the knife to a place even he couldn't find it. The place I moved your lizardmen, once upon a time. He wouldn't have had the complete archaeoteca, but he would have had enough to end the game. At least, if he ever found that mask he always ranted about."

I've encountered it before. and if I am to end the game I must know what it does!

>>
"Was this mask worn by the wanderer?"
"I've no clue." He said. "I don't know what it does, or what it is."
"Does the word g-"
"Don't say it." Ragnarok said. "If you have the mask, I don't care. Eidolon always told us to never say the word the mask whispers to us, if we ever were to find it. The word was only for him to speak, he exclaimed. He was abnormally emphatic about that."
>>
>>19697900
"What is this mask? And what does it do? And why does it make a difference?

In any case, what is doe is done. I have no need to justify my actions to one such as you. What matters to me is what you intend to do now. I have little wish to kill you despite the atrocities that were nearly committed due to you actions and releasing you into the world is not an option."

I wonder.... could we put him into a race-like state where he pretty much just eats and sleeps and craps but automatically answers what ever questions are put before him? We could keep him like that for a while as his punishment.

And, yes, I believe we are entitled to pass judgement upon him.
>>
>>19697990
A punishment like that sounds like the next step to Void Queen. We could give him to the rest of his race to pass judgement on.
Just because we can do something, doesn't mean we should.

"I have little wish to kill you despite the atrocities that were nearly committed due to your actions," You say, "and releasing you into the world is not an option."
"Then what, exactly, do you intend to do to me?"
"This." You say, and press your fingertips into his forehead. With a liberal amount of magic, you send him to sleep. Hibernation, more like- he won't awaken until you will it, or until several months from now, by your estimation.

The mask. . you could scry to find out more about it. .
You close your eyes, and send your magic into the ether, trying to see what you can see.
All you get are. . snapshots. Small, single moment memories. A portal. A dragon- Vanko, to be exact. The mask itself, in it's current location. You have no guarantee that the moments are from now, the future, or the past, and there's no way to be certain.

Your knees wobble as the scrying takes energy out of you.

And then you see. . The Wanderer, slowly lowering his hood. For a moment, a single tantalizing moment, you recognize his face as a face, rather than a random assortment of features, but your mind refuses to see it any longer than that moment.

Well, time to go talk to Vanko.

Can we cast a minor levitation spell on Ragnarok to lever him around for convenience? We need to take him to the other Kalak to be judged.
>>
rolled 62 = 62

>>19698178
... good thing we are now low on magic otherwise you would have just put him in orbit.
>>
>>19698178
...... WELL, APPARENTLY WE CAN!

WHAT THE FUCK, /TG/DICE?! WHEN I ACTUALLY DON`T NEED YOU!?
>>
hey guys what about that 97 for a zerg drone or did everyone forget
>>
You tap Ragnarok with your magic, and gently nudge him into the air. He levitates, unconscious. . and for the hell of it, you bind the levitation with his current sleep spell. It shouldn't lower the duration of the sleep stasis, so it should make things more convenient- when you move him around, and such. But you'll need to collect all of the kalak, first. Ezekiel is in elven lands, Vithriel is in the lizardman remnants, and apparently nobody knows where Nieriel is. . And you don't doubt that there are more kalak you've never even heard of.

Next, you need to talk to Vanko. You go above deck, where Marigold is serving some more tea to the kobolds.
"Hey, Ishelda. How did your talk with bird brain go?"
"Hey!" Dariel said. "That's racist!"
". . Right, right, sorry." Marigold says.
>>
>>19698260
I've had better talks. He's sleeping and will stay that way for a while.

He committed a crime against your people, it is only just that they have a chance to judge him themselves. So I guess I'm going to have to be collecting the Kalak.
>>
>>19698260
"Not...terrible. I was able to get some information, but the difficult part is what to do with him. I thought I could turn him over to the Kalak for judgement,"

"We're leaving the warped lands now." Ell said. "We'll be in Sirius in a few hours."
"That's. . not a good idea." Raziel said. "There's a reason we're spread over the world. Sardriel is worse than Uriel ever was, and Neiriel's been nowhere to be found since Cassiel died. She's always been more caring than anyone, so she's likely depressed. As for the rest. . " She shrugged. "No clue where they are."

Is there a way to use Azariel's spirit and the Throne to contact the others? If not to bring them together than to just communicate with them to reach a consensus for the judgement?
And side note, does Marigold know anything about our mother, being a cousin on her side and everything?
>>
rolled 42 = 42

First we were going to drop off the children with their keeper. Then we were going to the orks.

Hmm how about instead of gathering everyone together we Move lots of rings with notes attached to the various Kalak. That would help everyone keep in contact without having ot track them down.

>>
>She knows even less than you do.

You shrug, and turn to Marigold. "Could I talk to Vanko please?"
"Uh. . Sure." She says. "I have to try to wake him up."
She closed her eyes, and clenched her fists. When her eyes open, they're red and draconic.
"He says, once again, come into the Truth." She says. You focus. . and Dive in.

"Feh, welcome." The dragon almost snarled, looking down at you. "To what do I owe this . . pleasure?"
>>
I found an artifact while scrying for the Wanderer, a mask. When looking for what it was for you appeared in one of the flashes of images. I was wondering if you could tell me anything about it. Ragnarok told never to tell the word it whispers if that helps.
>>
>>19698413
I wanted to ask if you knew anything about the mask I found. I saw you briefly when I was scrying about it.
>>
>>19698413

What do you know of the mask?
>>
"I had a few questions." you say.
"Oh? About true magic?" He asks. "Feh, go ahead and ask."
"What do you know about the wanderer?"
The dragon looked at you levelly, staring into your eyes. .
"Who?" He asks. "I don't know what wanderer you're talking about."
You have the strong feeling that he's lying.
But before. . when you first came to this blasted land, he had said that one couldn't lie here. Did he lie about that?

>>
>>19698364
well I am guessing crap how many legs did drone have? anyway I no they had powerful cutting jaws and potent acid in order to help with mining and digging burrowing ect. I am guessing when thier acid spit dries it turns into a tough sinewy membrane as evident during gas mining. as well as the ability to mutate and evolve as all zerg unit can do over time. they can also sacrafice themselves into a organic structure that can have many uses including a hatchery to produce more units........ I think I played to much starcraft as a kid
>>
"The one I took this mask from."

Vanko reared up, recoiling away from you. The ground itself shifted as he backs away, the red fog thinning. He was. . he was *terrified*. "No, no, don't tell me. Don't say anything! "What if I sacrifice the mask to destroy the wanderer?"
"That dagger artifact you know of." Vanko said. "No matter how powerful you think it is. . It would shatter against the mask's surface. The mask is indestructable, even with true magic working against it. Now... I am tired. Leave me."

You leave the ankh. . and then rush back to your cabin. You're somewhat glad that you didn't give it to Kristoph yet, or Vanko would likely tell you to kill him, too. You take it in hand- You don't feel. . .anything special about it. In fact, it doesn't even feel magical.
No matter. You close your eyes, and open up an. . empty space, made from nothingness, and slide the mask in, sealing the empty space up. You take a few steps to the side, and feel the empty space follow.

You suddenly hear Grayson snarling and growling from the sleeping Ragnarok's room, and hear the sound of tearing flesh.

Come to think of it. . no, there wasn't. You didn't feel anything from The Heart when Grayson started roaring.

"No they haven't. You came here looking for your face or something and it wasn't here."
"Indeed." He said. "I came here to find out if any of you found my face, and clearly, none of you have. Good day." He said, and then opened a portal to step through.
Something. . nags at you, but you're not sure what.
>>
Is th empty space behind you still whispering? As long as it does everything is fine.
>>
>>19700183
So what the hell was the wanderer talking about? We should go ask Vanko about him and his face, wanderer seemed to know him.
>deja vu
>>
He steps through the portal. The whisper stops being a whisper, and shouts that word, almost yelling it out at The Wanderer, as if trying to reach him somehow. Your head suddenly hurts. He seemed to know Vanko. . maybe you should talk with the dragon and ask him about The wanderer's 'face'.

You feel something tugging at Rikar.
Marigold has her hand on it, and she's trying to unsheathe it. It isn't coming out, for some reason, and she just tugs at it impotently as the portal shuts.

"What was that all about?" Raziel asked.
"He came here to accomplish something." Redglare said. "And he did. You don't just show up and threaten the entire world, then leave without a word."

mar stop pullin on rikar it dosent like it and its telling it to me by hammring my head
>>
>>19700247
He probably did. Given that my memory recently went fuzzy I'm guessing it has something to do with that.
>>
I knew something he wanted and then I didn't. He left because of that. I think I erased the knowledge of his face from my mind, maybe I scried its location somehow? Its the only explanation I can think of.
>>
"Marigold, stop pulling on Rikar." You say, and she sighs. "He probably did. Given that my memory recently went fuzzy I'm guessing it has something to do with that."
"Memory went fuzzy?" Kaliel asked. "That's . . likely memory removal. Or changes. I can try to retrieve it, if you want."
>>
No thank you, he onyl left because of it. If it was restored he would be back. I do not know if he really can reverse the sacrifice of an entire race of dragons and Azriel.
>>
rolled 27 = 27

>>19700296
Scry to see if he did anything while he was here.
>>
We can't scry, the dice won't let us.
>>
>>19700345
What do the dice have against scrying anyway?
>>
I have no idea, but they have pretty much failed 90% of all scrying rolls.
>>
"No thank you." You say, rubbing your temple. "He only left because of it. If it was restored, he would be back."
"Okay, if you say so." Kaliel says.

Marigold started pacing. . then turned to you.
"Ishelda. Get this thing out of me." She says. "It's the rogue. Everything is the rogue. Vanko is the rogue. Get this thing out of me." She repeated.
>>
>>19700296
Okay. I would like to know what he didn't want me to know. Since I can't remember it then he must have done something to me.
>>
rolled 97 = 97

>>19700391
I can't or you'll die.

and vanko hates the rogue...
>>
>>19700391
Don't worry you're just going crazy, it's perfectly normal. Shut up, whispering in my head, I wasn't talking to you.
>>
>>19700391
Marigold, Vanko isn't the Rogue. He's an abrasive arrogant jerk, but he isn't the Rogue.

It's going to be fine Marigold.
>>
rolled 73 = 73

>>19700411
damn I should have just used that roll to extract the ankh non-fatally...

>>19700391
or would that have worked?
>>
>>19700391
No Marigold you are the Rogue
And then Marigold was demons
>>
rolled 92 = 92

If I remove it you die. Besides Vanko isn't the Rogue. He's terrified of him. Rolling to find and Move something that will give us more information on the Wanderer, preferably something that won't dodge around questions like everything else has.
>>
Hah !>>19700455 Take that you stupid anti-scrying dice. I tricked you!
>>
"I can't, or you'll die. And Vanko hates the rogue..."
"That's what he wants you to think!" Marigold said, grabbing your shoulders. "How else would he convince you?! Get this thing out of me!"
"Marigold, Vanko isn't the rogue. He's an abrasive arrogant jerk, but he isn't the rogue."
She took a deep breath, and closed her eyes.
"Why couldn't I call him, then? When the Wanderer was here? Because he can't be in two places at once!"

You need. . answers. Answers on what the wanderer truly is.

You close your eyes, and start to scry. . .

It's easy. Almost too easy, as if what you're finding is right next to you.
Some kind of pure white mask. . . strange, yet familiar. . .
>>
rolled 28 = 28

>>19700483
Bad feelings, look past that thing.
>>
Must be his face, leave it alone.
>>
rolled 50 = 50

>>19700483
Yeah, stop the scrying, if we find out why it's familiar we get the memory back and he comes back again.
>>
>>19700483
God damn it. Don't fiddle with it at all. Snap out of it.
>>
I was hoping for a book, honestly.
>>
>>19700483
The 92 should count for moving it too, whatever it is. We should do that in the holding cell. We must question it.
>>
Marigold you oculdn't call him because the Wanderer SCARES him. I do not know why but I wish I did.
>>
>>19700517
>You find a book titled 'THE WANDERER: Who he is and all of his schemes'.

You shake your head, cutting off the scrying spell. There's something telling you not to grab it. It could be his face. . which means it's the thing you chose to forget.
>"Do not, I repeat, do not let him have it."
You shake your head, hearing Vanko's voice.
"Marigold, you couldn't call him because the Wanderer *scares* him. I do not know why, but I wish I did."
"What?" She asks. "Tell me everything he said to you, and everything you said to him."
>>
>>19700594
I... I don't remember how I know that.
>>
It's part of what I forgot, but I know that as clearly as I know I will see the demons gone from our home.
>>
"I... I don't remember how I know that." You say. It's dim, very dim. .
"Then remember!" Marigold said. She was very animated. "This is important! Kaliel, do it."
"What?" Kaliel asked.
"Make her remember. The Wanderer did something to her mind." Marigold said.
"Uh. . ."
The kalak looked from you to Marigold.
>>
Eidolon can be revived through various objects which contain pieces of him.
Wanderer also has pieces of himself scattered about.
Azariel is still around due to a piece of him being used to keep him around.
Vanko is around due to some kind of object housing his soul.

>All players of the game are Voldemort
>Ishelda must become Harry Potter in order to win.
>Ishelda recieved a scar while quite young while being protected from a horrible magic.
>The protection used the life of those closest to her.
We're halfway there.
We just need to get the dagger and/or the sword and stab one of these "artifacts" in order to gain the ability to destroy the more powerful and closely protected artifacts.
I think I know too much about harry potter.
>>
>>19700711
Found the rails.
>>
Marigold sighs.
"Nevermind." She said, and turned around. "He's won already."
She went below deck, and Grayson, worried, followed her.

"That. . was strange." Ell said. "But for good news, we're in Sirius Province now. We can drop off the 'bolds."
>>
>>19700771
Well we should drop off the bolds, pay a short visit to people, maybe say hi to Lewin and ignore Fellwind.
>>

"Our camp was down there, in that clearing." Feegul said, pointing off of the edge of the Jormungandr. Ell nods, and sets down the airship there. Soon enough, the kobolds start piling out, and repairing old, broken down shanties.

Suddenly, you feel a strong pulse of life magic from below deck.

And then another pulse. A pulse of corrupted life magic. That same, sickening force from when Uriel was healing himself.

Will we tear through the ship to get to her, port her out, port us in, or just slap her via port?
>>
>>19701220
Matters on what you choose- we'll be starting right where we left off.
>>
Oh god damn it Marigold, she just killed herself didn't she?

Anyway heres some theories. This game of the Wanderers is probably far older then we thought. Vanko is obviously a player who lost back when the Dragons and Ogres fought. Most likely there was an Ogrish player as well. But vefore Vanko lost he struck a serious blow to the Wanderer by striking his face off and hiding it. In order to get his face back the Wanderer needed someone to host the Ankh hence Marigold I wodner if he uses the demons to bring in players to his game as well.

Heres a really outlandish theory, did he predict the demons coming to our world or did he summon them? He just said hes capable of it.
>>
I guess we'll have to deduce a way to prove to Marigold that it wasn't the wanderer who blanked us.

Maybe we could drop a fate point to break the fourth wall?
>>
>>19701365
What, you mean have a conversation with the characters directly? That's madness.

HEY MARIGOLD, DON'T LISTEN TO THESE GUYS.
You see how they're anonymous? It's because they don't want you to find out that they're actually the wanderer. Don't let them trick you Marigold.
>>
>>19701484
Like in the harry potter series, we have an intelligent animal friend that follows us around.

I bet that marigold is either sacrificing grayson to remove the horcrux or transferring it to him while staying alive using her magic or something.
>>
>>19701484
Every single spell that Harry Potter cast, we can cast too. Coincidence? Fuck no.

Exactly.
