Greeting elegan/tg/entleman. Last time saw the end of our stay in the cat folk’s domain, with a precious night spent with our guardian angel to boot, an overall relaxing time that was very much needed after the otherworldly experience forced on us by the nightmare. Nothing major happened, but the goodbyes we could exchange felt sincere and true, even this far from your homeland it seem like you’ve managed to make some friends, even going as far as receiving a blessing from the Tanuki to return if we wanted. Right now we are on our way home, sitting right next to the crippled Queen of the North, Rhy Rahall.
The sun is high up with a fresh wind from the mountains forcing you to keep your traveling cloak close, else suffer a cold that strangely wasn’t present during the night, the sounds of rustling leaves, the march of the escort and the small resistance from the wheel of the caravan produce a strangely nostalgic feeling to nestle itself in your heart. The Queen fell silent after her enthusiastic speech about the young Centipede that, you now notice, is resting in the large caravan full of… something, covered by a large, large sheet, the girl is looking up and waving, making you wonder what Hadraniel is doing from her perch, it’s impossible to look at her due to the rather regal constructed and sheet covered roof atop this thing, you’ve never seen any kind of caravan like this before and with that amount of luggage, it give you the impression of a tribute.Bletsia notice you staring and her antennas move to greet you, she also slither somewhat on the large sheet and end up bumping her elbow on something hard, her yelp of pain force you to stifle your laugh but she recover soon enough and continue staring upward.Hmm…Overall, the escort would need a veritable war band as adversary, if only for the presence of the two Ushi-Onis pushing the thing without much effort and right now, there isn’t much to do at all besides talking to the insecure young queen. You could try to sleep too, even if you aren’t tired your body may very well prove you otherwise. The decision is yours, Siegfried, how will you proceed now that noon is upon you?
>>19738116Sleep and time-skip may be an idea.Or casual talk with the queen.
>>19738116Casual talk with the Queen. She's going to be in a place where she know few people. If we can make her at least a little bit more comfortable with Siggy, at least she'll have someone else she could talk to.
>>19738116Pet the oomukade's head. Ask Rhy if she has any of the ofudas she mentioned just now. It's strange that Bletsia can't even speak, but knows how to make them.
>>19738428Oh yes. And maybe if she can read and write, she can communicate with others via writing.
>>19738428Sounds good.
You’d like to give that centipede some comfort but she’s too far away for you to pet, beside she seem cheerful enough, but what the young queen mentioned earlier is very intriguing, could that girl have some kind of hidden talent? Gently you turn to the cat queen who, of course, identify your stare and take a position similar to sulking but by this point you know she’s simply intimidated, the opaque veil make a very good job of masking her face however. ‘’You’ve mentioned ofuda earlier, made by Bletsia, pray, do you possess any on hands?’’The young monster shakes her head, and then her hands descend to her skirt that she grabs as she looks at her legs. ‘’They… T-they had a bit of magic b-but she made them for show, c-consumed them and scared the mantis…’’Really? But you didn’t feel any kind of magic in the vicinity yesterday, but the way this queen spoke, it seems to have been a pleasant experience. Hmm…>huge ass thunderstorm outside, if I disappear it’s a power surge.
>>19738416Let's try not to lay the swag on too thick with the queen, otherwise I have a feeling that the mantises will cut Siggy.
>>19738555Scared the mantis? In what way? I didn't think they scared easily.
>>19738555"Scared the mantises? How exactly did she do that?Perhaps I'll have Sylphis ask her to demonstrate some other time."
Mantises being scared? There are 5 hooded individuals in formation right around the carriage and even if the amusement of Sylphis at such an event almost make you smile, you can’t help but doubt that such a thing would ever happen, those monster are more hard and frigid than stone cold. "Scared the mantises? How exactly did she do that?’’But then you add after looking at your companion.‘’Perhaps I'll have Sylphis ask her to demonstrate some other time."You statement provoke a sudden haughty laugh from your companion beside the small catgirl, she shift to look at you and her disposition is almost dripping with arrogance, she’s even smiling as her antennas move excitedly. ‘’You won’t have me scared easily, friend.’’…Wait that isn’t what you meant at all, dammit woman. However the display relaxes the queen because you heard her own little small laugh, something very fragile and precious coming from the crippled girl. ‘’Bletsia… I don’t know what she d-did, b-but she conjured…. Illusions, a-a oomukade of bright colors… and well, the mantises overacted…’’
>>19738682Make a mental note about investigating this later and seeing if this sort of magic(?) is prevalent among oomudakes. Could be why Sylvia had them hunted down.
>>19738682We should try to learn more about the abilities of oomukades once we return home.
Seem like there's nothing requiring immediate attention, might as well relax a bit and do a timeskip.
>>19738682Might have been something she picked up from watching her mother, that would help in some investigations... dammit, totally forgot about investigating her mother's death in all the excitement.Make a mental note to send a memo about the incident and a request to see if there were any records of such practitioners passing through their realm."I see... that must have been a sight to behold.Nervous about meeting my Queen?"
It’s clear you’ll have to investigate this ability of hers when you come back, although it might put some pressure on the poor girl that just lose her mother the coming war won’t allow you to be nice or take your time, Ame-no-Uzume or her mother would probably find some use for her and if she can directly help the war effort… Well, all in due time."That must have been a sight to behold.’’You resist the urge to pat the completely white hair and ears of the cat queen, and take advantage of her silence to ask. ‘’Nervous about meeting my Queen?"A long, long silence, but that’s an answer all of its own, the girl simply froze and you can’t help but feel a pang of guilt that you repress mercilessly, even Sylphis stopped looking ahead to bring her eyes on the young queen.‘’I-I… I d-don’t have…’’She stop, her knuckle turning white as she grab her regal traveling clothing. ‘’I…I-I... well yeah’’ This might be a hard case.
>>19738953"From what I know of her, I believe you'll be able to get along just fine with her."
>>19739018pretty much this
>>19738953"I admit, I haven't known her for very long but I don't think she's someone you will have difficulty getting along with. I just hope she doesn't get any random ideas to prank you like her kind are fond of doing to people."
>>19738953Maybe we should warn ame about how timid she is, wouldn't help to have her terrified.
>>19738953"Your highness, try this. Close your eyes and take several deep breaths.Do you feel a little calmer now? Its a little technique to keep one's calm and it also give you some time to think when you need to respond.I first met my queen not too long ago, so I can understand your apprehension. I would be lying I say I was not nervous myself. In some ways she is a little similar to you, though she is a little fond of pranks. I daresay you will come to like her as I have."
>>19739106Well put as always
"From what I know of her, I believe you'll be able to get along just fine."You can’t exactly say anything else to ease the catgirl can you? You aren’t exactly certain what it is about her but the mere sight of her somehow pull your heartstring and make you care, but then again if there is one truth about you, it’s that you have too much empathy. Bah might as well, you can’t stop this heart of yours and the young woman at your side is restless, even if she’s doing her best to hide it. "Your highness, try this. Close your eyes and take several deep breaths.’’As your stare cross hers, the moment linger only for a second but, even as you can’t see it behind the veil, you’d bet all your money that she’s doing what you asked and after a good 30 seconds, she stop her heavy breathing while Sylphis suddenly look to the side and grumble, she probably just stared one of the mantis face to face. ‘’Do you feel a little calmer now?’’You ask at first, but the silence prompt you to continue. ‘’I first met my queen not too long ago, so I can understand your apprehension. I would be lying I say I was not nervous myself. In some ways she is a little similar to you, though she is a little fond of pranks. I daresay you will come to like her as I have."It has barely been a week since you’ve encountered Ame-no-Uzume, but the impressions she left on you were deep and strong and you spoke with honesty, your peaceful emotion spread to Sylphis and Hadraniel, and in return you get a brief puzzlement and some respect form the mantis.>cont
>>19739106>Close your eyes>eyes>s
‘’I-I see…’’The answer is simply, the catgirl stop there for a moment before mustering her will.‘’I-I just… never had what it take to-to… to lead, never… always stayed in…stayed in the castle and read, e-even b-before the accident…’’ She stops and starts grabbing her clothing once more.‘’I’m sorry j-just… ignore… ignore what I-I said’’And so another silence installs itself while the busy road is traveled upon.
>>19739275Worry not, no faux pas here
>>19739286"Not everyone will be a great leader the first time they are thrust into the position. Like anything, it takes experience to grow into the role. If you compared the me to the first time I commanded people, you'd see that clear enough. I think you're too hard on yourself though. I have faith that if you gave yourself the chance, you could be a good leader for your people."
>>19739275...Dammit. Guilty as charged.>>19739286So much confidence issues. Words alone isn't going to help. Bletsia might be the cure in this case, she and a group of kids who would come to bring her to play in the gardens and look to her on what to do next and such. The situations of the activities can also be somewhat tailored to fit how widely read she is; say finding insects. Kid brings rare insect he doesnt recognise that she probably could. Extended time with this could help her build up her confidence.Hmm, INH, how old is the queen?
>>19739411She's 17, but of small built, but clearly not child or child like: she's fully grown, or almost.
>>19739411At least you didn't tell her not to be so stumped.Agreeing on involving her in activities of other of her age. And of course any meetings / decision making, partly because she's supposed to represent her country and party so she can start learning the ropes of leadership from other's example.
>>19739286Cute pic! Does this thread often have such things, or is it all anime monstergirls being rawr and blushing and being anime girls?(I'm a sucker for a nice dress, is what I'm saying)
"Not everyone will be a great leader the first time they are thrust into the position. Like anything, it takes experience to grow into the role. If you compared the me to the first time I commanded people, you'd see that clear enough’’You stop there and, despite yourself, reach out to her head and give it a light pat, by doing so you can –feel- the damn stares the mantises gives you, so you retreat your hand and turn, glaring right at the one to your side and smirk , those bugs are way too overprotective. ‘’I-I just… don’t… don’t have it in me…’’Is her final remark before she sulks in silence, head low as she watches the Ushi-Oni twins pull the carriage without much effort. The group is scheduled to arrive at dusk and if the sky is any indication, you’ve still got a few hours ahead of you. What now, Siegfried?
>>19739557I don't usually dump monstergirls along with my text, but the range is too random to give any answer.
>>19739560Can't ask Sylphis about her dad, too many folks around. Pull Bletsia over to cheer up the little queen and rest up/timeskip.
>>19739589Seconding.
>>19739589We should also try to improve our magic at some point
Waving to the centipede, you bait her close and grab her, her sudden yelp simply spur you on as you fully get her out of the carriage and have her long, long body spread to Sylphis while the cat queen is simply astonished at your action, also Bletsia is beating on your torso but you don’t care, for some reason you’re feeling a bit playful and scaring her seemed like a good idea, beside she already broke the heavy mood that Rhy installed so it was worth it. On the way, you somehow managed to take a nap.--You’ll never get used to teleporting around, even less so when you are in a huge carriage, the ritual that took place was also far grander than the sudden…zip? You did before coming to this land, the priestess of the temple and her two daughters chanted some kind of spell that activated the stones, forcing them to glow with pure magical might and with enough energy to transport you, the two Ushi-Oni, Hadraniel, Sylphis, the young queen and of course the large caravan. You see, something quite unusual happened before the transfer: Rhy dismissed the 5 mantises which, honestly, surprised you to no end; you were more than convinced that those 5 girls would be skulking around the castle but now? Now… Now that the both the castle and the large, sprawling city a fair distance away are in view, the queen of the north must feel so very alone.
>>19739865Offer her our hand and let's escort her properly. Tell her to just ask for us if she ever needs something and that we'll gladly take her around the castle when we've arrived. Bletsia should probably come along too.
>>19739865Was expecting the mantises to be hanging around too...But they're not now so pet the queen head."The storm will not rage forever. You'll be home once more at its end."
After getting your bearings properly, you pat the cat girl once more, this time longer and more affectingly while the Ushi-Oni talk about a possible meeting with the Queen of Zipangu and navigating the descent of the hill very carefully.Hadraniel is also in her own traveling cloak, easily concealing her wings, she got one back in the cat folk domain and wore it every time the detachment came across civilization, and now she’s closing the guard of the caravan since both the soldiers and the mantises stayed behind. You move your hand from the head of the small queen to lightly grasping her remaining one, forcing her to look at you with a complete, blank and neutral face, the proximity allow you to gauze her expression for once through the veil. "The storm will not rage forever. You'll be home once more at its end."The only answer she provides is a squeeze.--‘’Phaaaa! I need a drink!’’ The ride through the city certainly was far from discreet and by the time it reached the castle, no the fortress, the large gate were deployed with guards posted along the road, beast men and bugs alike clothed in identity concealing armor, yet decorated with regal tabard and masks, all of this to greet the Queen Rhy Rahall and once inside, the Ushi-Oni were finally allowed to relaxes. However, emerging from the inner fortress was…
Oh, Tsukiyomi-no-Mikoto and Yuria the Jurougumo, the large, puffy and fluffy tails of the Queen-Mother spread around her back to form a flower while the spider walked high on her numerous legs, and the hand of the Queen that never left yours for now finally did, but not before a powerful squeeze. ‘’To receive the Queen Rahall for finalizing this coalition is an honor we can only hope to reciprocate with results’’The spider bowed, the two Oni were already given quarters by a pain of kitsunes, they also provided you with a blessing if you so choose to see them before the morrow. The small queen, still on the carriage, simply kept silent but she nodded to Yuria, Tsukiyomi immediately stepped in.‘’I will have one of our knights show your quarters and guide, unless someone present is wi…willing’’The pause in the Queen-Mother speech was provoked when Bletsia waved at her. What now, Siegfried?
>>19740226Heh, Bletsia causing the Queen's mother to be caught off guard like that is amusing.I see no reason why we couldn't volunteer.
>>19740226As much as I'd like to show Rhys around, we really should get debriefed by the Queen Mother, and thank her for her preparedness that saved us.
>>19740280I figured it would be the case of escorting her to her room to let her get settled in and then we'd go see the Queen-Mother.
>>19740226The knight should show her the way. Best that she be exposed to some of the people in the castle as well but get Bletsia to go with her so she'll have some company and not be so scared."If you need help with anything, you had only to ask for me."Once the queen has departed we can greet Tsukiyomi properly and thank her for her assistance. I guess Amy hasn't returned yet. I hope everything is going smoothly on her end.
"If you need help with anything, you had only to ask for me."You whisper to Rhy as you descend and help her, Sylphis does as well and so far, completely manage to hide her wounds and hand you the crutch that Rhy will need, but before handing her to the two tailed kitsune without armor, you beckon the centipede over who jump and land like water, slithering to you in one, smooth dexterous move. ‘’Stay with her’’You simply say, and when you depart with Rhy staring at you through her veil, the Knight take place at her side and gently prod her forward, giving the cat girl both care and the honor she deserve with the excited centipede actually staying near the white queen instead of charging somewhere. Now the caravan hidden secrets: There’s only astonishment to be found in the courtyard because in it, is a disassembled war machine, the one found where Sylphis almost died but Tsukiyomi has everything in control, it take only one order for smaller carriage to be pushed in and each piece is transported in the inner courtyard while the spider slowly walk to you.‘’Welcome back, Siegfried.’’She may be your prank rival, but right now it does feel genuine.‘’Tsukiyomi want to talk to you, I’ll handle everything here’’Her long, sharp legs take her to the angel and mantis and the trio start talking, a debriefing probably and Tsukiyomi beckon you.‘’I wouldn’t fault you if you wish to rest for now, Siegfried, I’m certain Hadraniel and Sylphis would give a more than adequate debriefing’’So she is offering you to take it easy.
>>19740528"No, it's quite alright. I have rested quite enough on the ride home."And I must thank you, for your preparedness. Without it, I am sure that my mission would have been far more difficult, and costly."
>>19740528I suggest we go see Tsukiyomi, I then suggest we hide as well as we can, I don't trust Yuria at all.
>>19740528"I would be glad to do the debriefing with you. I would be a fool to pass up on a chance to spend some time with a lady such as you."
>>19740528"No, I should finish this properly, I can rest once that is done.As you can see our mission was successful in bringing their realm into the alliance. This was partially due to a chance uncovering of church spy ring within their capital. The ring was chased down and this machine recovered, though key members escaped the drag net, one of them in particular was a hunter for the church, a very dangerous woman. It was not without casualties, Sylphis was badly wounded and poisoned after she tracked down an agent to their safehouse... she almost didn't make it but I was able to, with Hadreniel's help, to neutralise the holy within her.And as of our new companion, we ran into her on the way to the capital. Apparently her mother was attacked and killed by human female assailants. We took her in under our protection and she has been useful as a playmate for the queen, though she has not yet learnt speech. She is familiar with ofudas apparently. Illusion magic, according to the young queen."God lord, there is so much. Barely scratched the surface of everything that went down there.
>>19740714Shouldn't we ask about Athena?
>>19740730Oh, most definitely, yes. Though they're probably not back yet. There also that little bit about Garret being an enemy agent....
>>19740759I thought it was more along the lines of him having a past with the former Queen. Doesn't necessarily mean he's an agent.
>>19740759I don't think we have confirmed that yet
>>19740767>>19740773At the very least, his loyalty is suspect. Which means getting him away from the queen's side until he explains himself.
"No, it's quite alright. I have rested quite enough on the ride home.’’You’ve taken a healthy nap after all; Tsukiyomi doesn’t stop moving and the proximity of her large tails almost make your hand tingle…"And I must thank you, for your preparedness. Without it, I am sure that my mission would have been far more difficult, and costly."That’s more than true, not only did Tsukiyomi hired a very skillful agent, she actually… well she probably did save your life yesterday, with this damn nightmare somehow pulling your consciousness out of your body without you noticing a damn thing. However she simply wave her hand before putting it back in her previous position: sealed inside her large sleeves.‘’I have simply… used my knowledge to the best of my abilities’’ Cryptic, but it’s not like you could expect any less from her.‘’Beside, I would be a fool to pass up on a chance to spend some time with a lady such as you."Your honeyed words provoke a rare laugh from the Queen-Mother, one quickly stifled but the created smile never leave her face and for a moment, two of the tails quit they’re resting place and start to hover near your shoulders.‘’I presume you’ve sampled some of the very beautiful cats, yes?’’Hey now. --
Tsukiyomi lead you to a large, comfortable room inside the castle that you’ve honestly missed, its far different from the palace of Rhy, here everything is much more practical instead of regal and that’s how you like it. The room you are in has an open balcony to the large, sprawling forest both inside and outside the walls of the fortress, the light of dusk illuminating the autumn leaves in an image straight out of a painting while Tsukiyomi sit on the large futon near said balcony, with you taking place in front of her on the chair and starting your long debriefing of the events that took place in the cat folk domain. ‘’Church agents, Garrett, a girl skilled in making ofuda…’’Tsukiyomi stop, obviously musing, you could almost hear the inner working of her mind as her fatigued golden eyes lose focus.‘’I will have to explore the abilities of that girl, illusion magic made for show is particularly easy to create with ofuda, but for it to be this easy…’’Then she suddenly snaps while looking at you and rubs her eyes.‘’Oh huh… Good work, Siegfried. While my daughter is scheduled to be back later tonight, is there anything you wish to discuss from your journey in more details?’’
>>19740868Perhaps the Nightmare, and Hadraniel's relation to it?
>>19740809If I remember right all the letter had said was sorry to Rhys mother. (I very may be forgetting something more here)How does that make his loyalty suspect? I don't mind asking more about him but to jump to this is a little...fast personally.>>19740868I have feeling Tsukiyomi knows more about this 'consumption' power of his than she really is letting on. I would like to push along this line mostly. Tell her how he had felt the power feared the old corruption and in the Nightmare how it kept baiting him to 'eat' it.We really need to know more about this power.
>>19740868"Actually, yes. I found new information regarding my.. abilities."Take out the book and the decoded prophecy."So apparently I'm the result of manipulation from the current and the previous demon lords. What exactly am I?"
>>19740937Agreed. Ask about the consumption ability. Oh right, also ask about that one fox that was mentioned in the passage we decoded. Tenko or something?
>>19740937Garret is a suspect in infesting the former Rhys Queen with the old corruption.
I think we should introduce Rhy and Blestia to the fluffy tails at some point.
>>19741054That will be interesting
>>19741074It seems like it would relax Rhy some, and Blestia's reaction would probably be amusing at least.
"Actually, yes. I found new information regarding my... abilities."Her brows furrows at your statement and she simply nod, her fox ears perched high on her head while her numerous tails drop on the mattress instead of being held high. You take out the book along with the decoded notes, Tsukiyomi visibly stiffen at the mere sight but she stay silent and read, her expression a perfect mirror of complete neutrality, absolutely nothing betray what she could possibly be thinking or feeling, this woman… "So apparently I'm the result of manipulation from the current and the previous demon lords. What exactly am I?"Your tone and question contain a bit too much derisiveness, aimed at you of course and Tsukiyomi doesn’t speak, she merely close her eyes and rest her hands on her tight. What are you thinking, Queen-Mother of Zipangu? ‘’To give answer to your…abilities is not something I can provide quite yet, for I lack proofs and... Time’’Her tired golden eyes stare straight at you with resolves matching your own; you prefer not to think on anyone being better than you in this department. ‘’But it wouldn’t be farfetched to start thinking that, indeed, something so dangerous and unheard of could be a continued work of two Demon Lords, but that would mean the previous one managed to hide such a project from the Heroes…’’>cont
She stops, supporting her elbow with one hand while her knuckle rest on her forehead. ‘’I have also been in contact with the Old Corruption and felt some kind of instinctive fear, while the Nightmare you pulled me out of seemed to continuously taunt me in wanting to absorb such filth’’Tsukiyomi finish your statement.‘’…and you’ve absorbed the Holy from both Hadraniel domain and Sylphis’’Then she closed her eyes and sigh, shifting her position to more properly face you while one of her tail nestle under your arm, the queen-mother take her time to fully think out her answer. She really live and impose her own pace doesn’t she? ‘’Let me give you an advice: your absorption is limited in quantity by day, be it holy or corruption, both are limited by the size of your soul’’She stop for emphasis before continuing, grabbing her tail.‘’If I were to use this as example – she say while moving her tail with her hand- half of it is the size of a regular human soul, and your own has been enhanced, strengthened and fattened by your links’’Another pause as she start combing said tail.‘’But I can’t answer what exactly you are, but at this point, I think it’s safe to assume that you are limited in what you can absorb, and if you were to go past your threshold…Mayhap your ego will be overrun’’
>>19741223"..I guess I will have to be careful then, probably a good thing I didn't disrupt Amy's ceremony too much. How have things been here? You look like you haven't slept since I last saw you."
>>19741223"I best be careful then. Unless I establish more links, I can't waste how much corruption in a day I can take. How have you been? Is there anything you'd like to ask me?"
"..I guess I will have to be careful then, probably a good thing I didn't disrupt Amy's ceremony too much.’’You really dodged a bullet there, not only Hadraniel but you do remember a voice speaking to you, a woman with a motherly tone...No, best not remember that for now. So you shift the conversation while Tsukiyomi gaze is absent, her eyes closed as she liberates her tail from her grasp.‘’How have things been here? You look like you haven't slept since I last saw you."Your sudden concern for her seem to completely astonish the Youko, her gaze perfectly transfer her surprise as she tilt her head slightly, one hear twitching with some of her tails moving awkwardly. ‘’I… I have kept myself healthy enough.’’She start and pause, yep she didn’t sleep a damn wink did she? This woman needs someone watching over her, she’s going to end up killing herself.‘’But I have been busy, as was Yuria with the responsibility of replacing Ame-no-Uzume, but I have mostly kept to myself while performing… what I need to do’’Then she sighs and looks at you with… guilt?‘’And I’m afraid I’ll have to ask for your help concerning said project’’
>>19741466"Just ask it. If I can assistin carrying even a bit of the burden you bear, I would gladly do so."
>>19741466"I could... if you allow me one thing: Giving you a shoulder rub.You need to look after youself better."
Oh right, did we mention we have vampire potion to her?
A brief silence, it’s more dramatic than anything because, in all honesty, you’re going to give her the help she need without even needing to think on it, but right now… maybe… "I could... if you allow me one thing: Giving you a shoulder rub.’’She’s obviously taken off guard by your statement and simply stares at you in disbelief, you hop on the opportunity. ‘’You need to look after yourself better."You observe, and the Youko shake her head.‘’I have been working too long now; I can’t take time to energize anymore.’’How cryptic and depressing, you immediately hop off the chair and extend your hand to the smaller Queen-Mother, forcing her to look upward at you.‘’Well then, allow me first to carry some of that weight, it’s as if you’re supporting the world.’’In the end you don’t give her any massage, that’s quite a shame isn’t it?--You crossed path with Hadraniel, Sylphis and Yuria on the way to… wherever Tsukiyomi was leading you, after a brief exchange the three of them are heading to the shrine of the water dragon to that the mantis could heal up, a rather uncommon ritual it seems, but a needed one nonetheless.>cont
You’ve also learned that Rhy and Bletsia ended up in the library, the centipede is probably working the knight to death, but at the very least, things were going in the right direction, you’d like to be with Sylphis right now but Tsukiyomi has need of you and it’s better to not refuse her, whatever she’s involved with must be incredibly important for her to reach and ask you for help.So she lead, walking with decided steps as the two of you walk into the bowels of the fortress, passing as far as two doors guarded by kitsune knights and then, finally, the Queen-Mother stop before a simple metallic door in a hallway full of armaments, a stocking room maybe?‘’This is where Garret alchemical lab is situated, a refurbished room’’ Alchemy…The Youko suddenly produce a key from her pocket and unlock the door, stop to look at you for a moment with something akin to… some kind of fear? Still you step inside, and this place really does look like a personal lab with all the usual alchemical tools, several tables full of notes that looked quite recent and discarded items here and there but what strike the most is one, single object.A cylindered heavy glass resting on a heavy foothold, some kind of blue, transparent slimish… ammoniac fluids maybe? But in it is an item that takes your breath away.Floating gently in the blue fluids is a stone of rose, pink nature, with a gentle, glowing aura illuminating the area like a gentle lamp. >back in 20 minutes
>>19741944You can't just drop a possible Avina-related situation on us and run!"Have you been spending the time I was away working on the stone? What were you trying to do?"

Your heart squeeze, everything related to Avina always strike your damn heartstring in such an unfair way. You spend some moment in silence simply staring at the stone, forgetting your place, even Tsukiyomi who is observing you, solemn, before you finally shift your attention to her and ask."Have you been spending the time I was away working on the stone? What were you trying to do?"Tsukiyomi, however, remain silent and simply walk near the cylinder, her numerous, large fluffy tails slithers along her body like living serpents, rubbing along her regal kimono.… She’s nervous and it seems she isn’t keeping her guard, that’s a sign of trust right? Just now you realize that your voice was colder than you intended. ‘’Creating some kind of counter for the church weapon in the worst case scenario, while making certain it cannot be corrupted’’Then she point at you.‘’You are the key for such creation, the missing link that will be able to create an ego to this creature, but I am left undecided if I should leave it whole, or give her a shell’’She gesture behind her, where a table is masked by a sheet, several bump make it impossible to identify what could possibly be masked.
>>19742364... I think I know where this is going but let's go see what's lying hidden from our eyes.
>>19742364Let's see what the shell is going to look like. And I suppose we should ask what the difference will be.
>>19742374Yeah. I'm 90% sure we all know where this is heading. So might as well just pull the sheet off and see. Also, ask what type of 'counter' is this. A weapon? Shield of sorts? Any difference if it doesn't have a shell? Would it be consider living?
You walk to the table and grab the sheet, although you are feeling somewhat emotional you still wait and look at Tsu, her nod is all the motivation you need, in one brisk pull the sheet fall to the side while your jaw tighten. The golem in the image of your mother, back at the church, left unfinished and to rot, was now laid here in front of your eyes, resting as if she were frozen in time.‘’I see…’’You were already expecting it at this point, after all a golem in such perfect condition left there with nobody to claim it? Tsukiyomi is no idiot; she was going take such opportunity. ‘’What if she were to be put in a shell?’’ The Youko move her palm on the cylinder, the stone suddenly swim to it and knock itself against the glass. It’s…It’s conscious? The strain on you will be lessened, she might be able to forma self-more easily, or the fact she will be placed in a different body…’’She stop talking, a pause for a sight.‘’Might completely override whatever is left of her identity and in the process, create someone completely new’’She retreat her palm, the hand form a fist as she put it on her heart.‘’I want to live, I want to help, I want to live, I want Siggy and Mana’’The multi-tailed monster speak with neutrality, no need for explanation the wish of a simple stone left imprisoned and in not quite stasis… Bah!‘’Before you ask’’She interrupts you.‘’The weapon the church is bringing is a mass poisoner, something capable of spreading an incredible amount of Holy energy over a vast amount of space and territory, the fact they’re coming here, is more a testing ground than a real need of conquest’’
>>19742487"...So you wish for me to perform the final step? To place her last vestiges into this shell? What do you hope to accomplish with this? How is a single golem going to be able to counter a weapon like theirs?"
>>19742487"I tried to use the stone once to save her but I failed her again. Will using the shell have a greater chance of working or are both options just as viable?"Hooboy looks like we gotta pick guys. Do we want to put her in the golem or give her a slime body of some kind it seems.
>>19742540>>19742546Let's get these two questions answered first.
>>19742540>How is a single golem going to be able to counter a weapon like theirs? That's what I really want to know.
"...So you wish for me to perform the final step? To place her last vestiges into this shell? What do you hope to accomplish with this? How is a single golem going to be able to counter a weapon like theirs?" You ask in one brisk motion, containing your emotions pretty well as right now, you aren’t quite certain what to feel about the Queen-Mother dropping a bomb like that out of the blue, but she’s keeping her mask and simply stare straight at you, without moving, her tails stopped that, they come to her back to form this flower she’s so fond of. ‘’I do not wish, I need, for you are the one with both a past and the gift I need to create what I need. It’s a gamble, Siegfried, the stone is capable of absorbing magic at its rawest and purest form, I want it to grab a part of your nature so it can do both with corruption and holy, but I must make certain an ego is created, someone with such capability must not… become feral’’She pauses, her words sinking in."I tried to use the stone once to save her but I failed her again. Will using the shell has a greater chance of working or are both options just as viable?"You tried once and failed, that’s as true as it get, you failed to save the life of your childhood friend you… you probably failed to save the life of your mother as well.‘’I think putting her in the golem may very well override whatever identity of Avina is left in the stone’’Tsukiyomi walk to one of the table, replacing a knocked over tool.>cont
‘’It’s not exactly a measure of success, but simply different result. If we are to work with the slimish body, Avina may be able to keep her memories or part of them, but she might also… cripple you when she inevitably latch on and absorb a part of you, a part of your gift.’’She’s straining herself, Tsukiyomi mouth is clenched.‘’While the golem will allow for an easier way to create a ‘’me’’ since a body is actually present, she may be able to better control herself, but it may very well completely override who she is and create an entirely new identity, because the golem is made to be human, certainly not to accommodate a monster soul’’Then she sight and hold the side of her head, also rubbing one of her ear.‘’But all of this is merely conjecture, this is as high as alchemy will ever get for some, anything I said is simply… simply…’’She stop, it seem she almost let something slip out.‘’Call it intuition’’
>>19742727"I would prefer it if you didn't hide things from me."
>>19742727"Intuition... So things are that desperate... that we have to rely on guesswork......What do I have to do?"When we get the stone, give a final prayer to Avina and then set it into the golem.-------Obviously I vote to use the golem. A previous thread had a choice where the vote was to believe Avina was already dead. Following that line of though, whats left in that stone is her will.http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/18641182/#18641873
>>19742727>intuitionI call it guess work. Anyways. If I understand this right. We could use the stone as is (maybe?) however there can be a backlash longs putting it in the body would offer much more stable way of using it?At any rate we should ask how long would the process take and how long can Siggy take to decide on the matter.
>>19742727"Tsukiyomi, I trust you. You've done much for me that I haven't even begun to be able to repay you for but if there's something else you know, please tell me. If this could kill the Avina I knew, I need to know everything."Any thoughts on which path we should take?
>>19742792Is she dead or not though? It seems like her memories and such are still in the stone and it reacted when the Queen-mother was near. She might still be alive and using the golem could effectively kill her.
>>19742727I vote no golem.
>>19742823I'm running off the belief that she has already passed. And siggy sense of duty, if this is held off too long, those still living whom he cares about will be endangered, thus he makes this decision.Of course, I could be wrong, though.
>>19742802Should put in my vote I guess (based off >>19742792) which would be also golem. We really don't need to worry about the stone in middle of combat hurting him.>>19742823At this point I really don't think we have a choice. I know we want to save her but sometimes sacrifices must be made to help...oh god I'm going to say it...the great good. We're going to be in middle of a war here shortly and need every edge over an enemy that will likely have more troops/supplies. This is not going to be fun.
>>19742857I'm going to say no golem. I can't shake the feeling she might not be truly dead, and at that point, we'd be risking her dying just so Siggy isn't in danger. Of course, I could also be wrong and she is dead but I just can't agree with that atm with what is known.
Yes to the golemShe died a long time ago, Its time to forgive ourselves and let her pass on. She will always be in our mind and our heart.
>>19742904Except that this is a chance to get her back. To put her in the golem is to completely overwrite her memories and her consciousness.
"I would prefer it if you didn't hide things from me."Your word struck, not a nerve, but a heartstring. Tsukiyomi grimace is not only visible, but she makes no effort of even covering it, but she recovers and faces you with an equal amount of willpower.‘’I can’t share what I know, but I can act on such knowledge. I can only ask that you… try and trust me’’It’s getting quite harder to do so, but her emotions seem genuine enough, you don’t want to think of this woman as… something else than an ally. ‘’So things are that desperate...’’The church is coming with a biological weapon of mass destruction, and right now a counter may have been developed? To keep Avina ego, personality, who she is, you will need to basically… become a symbioses with a slime form, the alternative is a golem in the image of your mother?‘’The golem itself is likely to change appearance, the option here is basically… to put a soul in it, to create something new, but that entirely depend on the operation’’Is she trying to give you some comfort? ‘’You don’t have to make a choice right now, I… just, do you wish to exit so you can think more clearly? Or did you already come to a choice?’’
>>19742956I guess this is official vote time. I say no to golem.
>>19742943Here's a question for you, would Avina want this stone that she had empowered and given to Siggy to harm him?>>19742956>already come to a choice?HA. HA. You funny man!
>>19742943I'd take golem over the slime-symbiosis.Symbiosis seems like it'd be similar to torture for all involve, while the golem is simply a new chance at life. And you never know what might happen.
>>19742956I have made my choice already. My hand has been forced in this matter...But not by you, the church in their unnatural hatred.Put the stone in the golem.
>>19742956No to the golem.Too many unknowns with the creation of a new ego. And the stone still contains Avina's mind and memories. Putting her into the golem is killing her all over again.
>>19742956Golem seems like the smartest idea really, as she said its entirely possible we're just creating something new.
Hmm I'll wait a bit more~
>>19742956"...Even back then, her final words were for me and my mother. Do I want this? No I don't... Would she have wanted this if she could? ...I believe the answer would have been... yes."Insert the stone into the golem.
>>19742956Well you already have my vote up here >>19742865
If I counted right 5: Golem2: Non golem.
>>19743108Seems like it. Damn you all for robbing us of slime-girl version Avina.
>>19743108It looks that way. And I still think that this is a mistake. We don't know how the golem will react to having a soul it was not designed for inhabiting it.Not to mention it will definitely erase Avina's mind which is still in the stone.
>>19743166I share the same thoughts really. Feels like we are killing her unless Tsukiyomi is wrong and her memories remain intact.
>>19743108Now wouldn't that be awkward if we end up with a golem that still looks like Siggy's mom but has Avina's feelings for Siggy.
>>19743244>Tsukiyomi is wrong and her memories remain intact. You mean after the stone has been inserted into the golem? I don't think she's wrong. The golem was originally meant to house a human soul, so there's going to be interface problems with a monster soul.
>>19743166>>19743244>>19743280>‘’The golem itself is likely to change appearance, the option here is basically… to put a soul in it, to create something new, but that entirely depend on the operation’’That to me seems like there is a small chances we can some how save her in the golem. Also, might change appearance.
>>19743317The possible change in appearance with the likely change in personality could create some interesting combinations.
>>19743317Really? I read it as almost assured that we'd lose Avina's remaining mind and memories.
>>19743317>>19743493JUDGE!!!!
>>19743493>but that entirely depend on the operationIs what I'm really reading at and yes I agree we're most likely going to lose her. BUT it looks like there is a chance depending on how we do this.
You’ve made many a choice during your whole life, all of it beginning when you had to choose to either accompany your mother to the college or stay home with your uncle and become his apprentice in order to truly become a worthy leader of the Shieffer. From there, many different events transpired with again, life and death situations that you had to decide for other, such is the curse of men with your birthright and talents.‘’I have, I made it’’You steel yourself and look to Tsu, you don’t have any kind of tears or emotion, right now, and you are… simply Siegfried Shieffer. ‘’The golem’’Somehow, Tsukiyomi cease breathing, her eyes closes and she rub her head.‘’So be it’’She’s forcing herself, the Queen-Mother steps are uneasy but she slowly opens the top lid and… and she doesn’t even put her hand in the fluid, the stone crawl and she pluck it, cradling the object in both of her palms, the smaller monster walk to you with tiny, tiny steps and for the..No, you look up to her, but her eyes are cast down, her ears have fallen flat on her head, her tails are hanging down without energy and silent tears fall upon her thumbs, but she strop when coming to you and hold up her small hands bearing the weight of her nation and, slowly, your own hands take the form of an open flower and the stone fall upon it.…‘’Haha’’You laugh, this is the only thing you can do, but Tsukiyomi isn’t looking at you.Emotions, such an intense emotion of… something so incredibly warm nestled in your palm travel down your arms and aim for your heart it’s so different, yet similar to the soul link, something that isn’t yours but it’s so…It’s the emotion of gratitude
>>19743569>no >contI swear to god if you are giving us the chance to pull out I hate you.
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2jig9z4HsA)-I’ve found you!-Not a voice, it’s simply what you can deduce, you have some difficulty walking, but right now this stone is spreading over all your body, the magical energy is completely unfamiliar and then. Images of your past, of your greatest of friend.-Who exactly was Avina?- How to answer something like this? Avina wasn’t exactly a childhood friend for; after all, you didn’t grow up with her. She was…. Is a friend you made during a single, important week, someone that broke a very thick shell impossible for even your own mother to pierce, something you had so much fun with, even learning new things, practicing magic……Someone you loved. You are now left standing in front of the inactive golem looking just like your precious mother, the emotion in your palm shift, she’s speaking, spreading. -It’s okay-Is it? How can it be, anyway? You don’t want to do this. Your palms, your heart, grow slightly cold, slightly hurt, but warm resolution spread and your eyes tickles. >cont
-She was loved-Again this warm emotion, so pure so… the gravity of what you are doing, you are going to… to kill Avina, someone from your childhood someone you care so deeply for, your own hands… what kind of resolve does it take? This happy resolution, this warm feeling that cradle your heart, your resolve is being so easily destroyed!? -Thank You-Your hands squeeze, your throat hurt, your jaw is stiffened, you don’t care that your emotions will be transmitted to Sylphis and Hadraniel, right now… right now!You feel a gentle hand resting atop of yours, Tsukiyomi isn’t saying anything, but she’s pushing down, slowly, without hiding her tears.Unlike you.-Goodbye!- The stone seem to have taken enough from you; your palms open the precious object fall unto the golem chest…And your consciousness is ripped away in one fell swoop.>Good enough for today
>>19743620Expressing gratitude at our choice.I'll kill anyone who changes their mind now.
>>19743632>Good enough for today>Good enough for today>Good enough for today...
>>19743639Yeah, and instead of bringing Avina back, we killed her.For all we know the gratitude could simply be for making a choice, rather than leaving her in limbo.
>>19743663What's wrong, anon-kun?
>>19743569>>19743624>>19743632
>>19743668Indeed. It seemed like she just wanted to be sure she would be able to help Siggy, even if it cost her life. She didn't seem to hold out hope that she would be able to live again. Not using the golem might have let her live again but now she's gone for sure.
>>19743684You're a cruel man INH. A cruel man.
>>19743689Aye that was the choice. Also thsi was suprisingly hard to write, in a good way.
>>19743689But there also was chance even holding onto the stone we may never find a way to resurrect her. She be stuck in limbo for how long then?
>Good enough for today*sob*
>>19743684My hate, my love, my everything. When we going to do this again?
>>19743730We wouldn't have held on to the stone. We would have used it to make her a new body from my understanding - it's just that process had risks to Siggy himself rather than her. A way to resurrect her was right there.
>>19743717The hardest part is letting go.Beautifully written, INH.Goodbye Avina, you were loved.
>>19743730Avina would have been happy in either the golem body or the slime body, as long as it helped Siggy. The slime body would have left her mind and memories intact. The golem body wipes them out. So no, she wouldn't have been stuck in limbo, unless we chose neither body. We had the chance to resurrect her right in front of us, and we chose not to do it.
>>19743772It's Avina. She would not have wanted a choice that would have endangered Siggy. I believe, this is the choice she would have wanted.
>>19743746Around Saturday if everything goes well, time for some healing or something, Siggy really need it.
>>19743772Personally, wouldn't have gone for the slime body because of the chance of backlash with a war looming just bad idea. If we were going to find a way to resurrect her it had to be done without major or long lasting effects on him. Mostly because Avina would have been beating herself up about causing harm to him.
>>19743772Yeah, you guys didn't do it, Tsu already said what the cost for both options were.As for what Avina truly wanted... who knows eh?
>>19743823Except that with a symbiotic connection, it might have increased our capacity for absorbing Corruption and Holy, as well as that of Avina's, and might have been a way around our predicted death in less than a month.
>>19743792Maybe. But all I know is we had a chance to save Siggy's first friend and change the fact he failed her in the past. Instead we killed her.
>>19743868All we know for certain was the danger of crippling injuries if we attempted to fuse her with a slime girl.
>>19743823Bull. Personally erasing what was left of her like this was no better than risking it with the slime, because now her death is on our hands. Both options would have left us hurt in different ways, but one of them would leave us hurt with Avina still alive to worry about us.
>>19743842I got one question for you. At the end of all this (the quest) willing to tell us how major events could have unfolded like this or no? I hate no knowing if things could have gone another way.
>>19743883Siggy has it pretty hard doesn't he?
>>19743912But how do you know for sure we get all of Avina back. Remember there was a chance for only part of memories. What if she doesn't remember him at all and were left with a crippled Siegfried.
>>19743960>part of her memoriesLeft out a word. Bah.
>>19743928I can't say for now since even I don't know how the climax will turn out for now since the war hasn't eve nstarted yet.
>>19743974Fair enough.
>>19743960Then we can be content knowing we tried our best to save her. Would we not risk injuries to save the others important to Siggy, even if we still might fail?
>>19743960At least then we would have tried. We've already proven that Siggy is willing to throw himself into harm's way if it means protecting someone important to him. Instead, we didn't even try to save her.
>>19744018Different situations, differents resolutions and actions.
>>19743988That last time we were badly injured was when it was just Siggy, Sylphis and Athena.Getting not just injured but crippled before the start of a major war is going to hurt the strength of our side and distract many key players, seeing how many of them have bonds with siggy. It would be the height of selfishness to put everyone else at risk for a chance of some memories.
>>19744018>>19743988So were to just throw our life away at every danger that comes near some we care about? There's times when that just plain and out right stupid. I'm sorry but even as greedy as Siegfried is this needed to happen to move forward and out of the past. Will he forget? No. But it's time to let go.
>>19744037Not just memories. A person. Besides, haven't we establishedSiggy is greedy already?
>>19744087Indeed, but right now he just choose to create a entirely new life.
>>19744075It wasn't life threatening. And assuming the odds aren't stupidly against us, I don't see why we wouldn't risk it.
>>19744119But that's the thing we didn't know, we still don't know. What we did KNOW was that it would cripple Siegfried to some degree. And on the eve of war that's just reckless as all hell even for him.
>>19744087Greedy, yes. Stupid, no.If it was just him, then yes, he would have proceeded on the other path but not when countless others are relying on him. How would the alliance look when the Queen and the her immediate circle are in turmoil due to a retainer crippling himself? The risk was too great on the outset of war.>>19744113...>I want it to grab a part of your nature>What was left of Avina's willThen thats...thats their child right there.E-excuse me I have something in my eye...
>>19744138>What we did KNOW was that it would cripple SiegfriedNo, it was MAY cripple Siegfried. Unless INH says right now that it would have resulted in a crippling injury, there was only a possibility.
>>19744155Hoho, feed me some more ideas, but I think I know how next update will turn out, its obvious waht i'm going for anyway.
>>19744138She said it might result in Siggy being crippled. It was never guaranteed nor did she suggest it could be life threatening.
>>19744158I think its better if I say nothing
>>19744155Well I guess our future plans better be flawless then during the war since it looks like anyone in danger is getting abandoned since other people are relying on us.
>>19744199In a way, isn't that waht being a leader is all about?
>>19744210Depends in the kind of leader you are. Evidently Siggy is not the no man left behind kind.
>>19744238Of course.
>>19744176Define life threatening for me. Because there is a lot of crippling states that can get him killed later on.>>19744199Wow. You really going that far? Let me ask something, during the war we get runner telling us that they spot a major attacking forces is going to engage one of our battalions that happens to have someone we are linked to in it. Siggy orders stand as follow; hold this ground at all cost. This spot is to consider vital to this set battle. Are you telling me Siegfried should ignore orders to save one person and lose the battle at the cost of 1000s of others?
>>19744283Then we'll expect you to vote for abandoning Athena, Sylphis, Bletsia, or Hadraniel then, when the time comes.
>>19744330Will do. Then again I'm trusting that they're not as suicidal as Siegfried and know when to cut and run.
>>19744364But /tg/ is the one that tend to be suicidal
>>19744364But you just said that you would order them to die in order to hold onto a specific point. So you're hoping that they decide to disobey orders and throw the entire battle plan into disarray, causing even more casualties? Then all you're doing is shifting the blame from us to them, to have one of our companions safe but not at the cost of our reputation. You're not considering the losses among the faceless NPC's at all.
>>19744261Not the greatest example seeing as they've failed in their duty enough times, heh. >>19744283The situation is too different. The person linked to Siggy is capable of doing things and can escape on their own power in a bad situation. Furthermore, there are unknown variables in your scenario that make answering this impossible in some ways. In this case, we knew what we were dealing with and there were no guarantees either way on if bad stuff would happen to Siggy. Avian had no hope other than not using the golem and we decided to kill her instead of take a risk.
>>19744283Ih right the life threatening. Anything that can result in death in my mind. Being crippled cannot directly result in dying in my mind as well so I guess we differed in definition there which is fair enough.
>>19744428Hey now, the only one who kinda failed is Sylphis.
>>19744488I meant that picture. It refers to a clan of samurai in another setting whose job is to defend a walls against the enemy of their empire. They've failed at doing that a few times and even allied with said enemy once to invade their own empire.
>>19744514Oh, I see.You learn something new everyday.
>>19744421>to have one of our companions safe but not at the cost of our reputation.Exactly. What do you think will happen if we try to save someone Siegfried cared about every time. EVERY TIME. People will start lying to him to keep him focus on task. Which that very well could get someone he cares for killed. It's been proven that people Siegfried are linked to can guard themselves from it quite well should they chose to do so. Yes, we'll know if they die when the link is cut(and whatever backlash from that happens). And what of the people he's not linked to? Not a damn clue.>You're not considering the losses among the faceless NPC's at all.Heh.>>19744458Fair enough. The issue is just large number of crippling states that could get him killed in a fight in my mind.
Anyway thank for this session gentleman, see you next time.Hope I succeeded in giving feels.
>>19744636>Hope I succeeded in giving feels. Was that ever in question?
>>19744654Maybe
>>19744627>Exactly. What do you think will happen if we try to save someone Siegfried cared about every time. No, I'm saying that you're willing to still lose the battle, as long as we don't lose face, and our companion makes it out alive. That's even worse, because you're throwing lives away, and throwing the war away, for no actual gain.
>>19744744It's 0030 (read should have been asleep already) here so I'll just cut the chase. You're ok with throwing everything away to save Siegfrieds friends? No matter the cost?
Guys, guys yes it's sad that we couldn't save Avina, but think like this. If we did keep the stone there was not much chance that Avina would still survive. Just like with the crippling Tsu said there was a chance. Meaning is wasn't a sure fire thing. Just like with the golem she said it is most likely. It all comes down to INH and luck. Also for the Anon who said we need to have a perfect war plan, that was cold and rather petulant. Yes this was said and if other die yes it is sad. But like others have said a war is brewing. While this doesn't mean that we should throw away our companions lives at the first sign of trouble it does mean that Siggy is responsible for a lot more lives now. The people in the army with have friends and families that want to see their loved ones come home just like Siggy. It means that we will have to be more careful with our decisions and think how they affect others and not just ourselves. We also have too think about outcomes. I think that Athena and Syphlis would rather die in service to their country rather than live with the knowledge that their home is no more and that Ame is dead.I'm not trying to pick a side here just to try and lay things out more clearly so that we can understand each other. After all if we snipe at each other all game over one choice then the game will lose it's fun.
>>19745025>It all comes down to INH and luck.Pretty much. We'll just have to wait and see.>After all if we snipe at each other all game over one choice then the game will lose it's fun.Eh. This fun just in a different way. I wish I was more awake so I could get point across a little more clearly. Then again I've never been good at in the first place. Haha.
>>19744972>>19745090I am not okay with throwing away friends just because there is a chance of failure, while the choices you've put together don't give us anything. The hypothetical situation you created, combined with what you wanted (which was for the companion to see that the situation was suicidal and to retreat, losing the strategic point anyway) would have still lost us the battle. At least if the companion had stayed and held the point, then we would have won the battle and no one would feel it necessary to lie to us about what's happening. In the case you posited, we'd keep the companion but still lose, which is no different than the result of us ordering them to fall back because the position is untenable.
>>19745025>While this doesn't mean that we should throw away our companions lives at the first sign of trouble it does mean that Siggy is responsible for a lot more lives now.The point is that we DID just throw away Avina's life at the first sign of trouble. Also, why are we even assuming that we're going to be in charge of troop movements? There are military officers who are more experienced and have better knowledge of what their own troops are capable of, and of what the enemy is likely to field, than we do. I don't recall Ame making any mention of us being placed in a position of military command. And as for our experience as a military leader, we don't have knowledge of the tactics and strategies used by Zipang's militaries, we don't know how they should be integrated or deployed, we lack knowledge and experience fighting on this island's terrain, and the generals already in charge would be better qualified.
Not really. Do remember that Avina's story started when she and Siggy were children. That flashback we experienced disproves your words and the fact that we tried shoving the stone into Avina's ghost when we first saw her. Not to mention there was the fiasco with the fake Avina that we gave the stone too (I think?) Plus Siggy is a little wiser now about when he tries to help people. Sometimes helping is not always helping as we learned with Ame.
>>19745175>I am not okay with throwing away friends just because there is a chance of failureSo at the root of all this is you believe no matter chance of failure (or the chance was simply not high enough to you?) we should save our friends?Longs I believe if the chance at failure is too high it's not wroth the risk.>hypothetical situationHonestly, I'll be the first to say it was bad. Just too general, not enough info, just bad overall.>>19745287> Siegfried as generalNever said or implied that. And if it did seem that way it was not my intention. I do think he does have some military experience fighting in the civil war. So being in charge a small group of troops (less than 50?) wouldn't be that far of a reach in my mind.
>>19745403The chance of failure was not high enough to warrant going with the golem body, while we were told that the erasure of the memories was much more likely than not.
>>19745374We may not have thrown Avina's life away for convenience sake in the past, but in this most recent situation, I believe we did because the risks of the slime body were not so high as to be suicidal, compared to the golem body which would have no risk to us but will most assuredly wipe Avina's mind and memories from the stone.
>>19745403The civil war and the ''monster hunting'' before it more or less gave siegfried a varying degree of experience since, at the head of the Shieffer family, he must answer to call for leadership if able while being a frontline lieutenant again if need be.Siegfried can both lead a relatively small unit (ranging from 75 extremely elite soldiers) to a regular unit of 200 men-women, but during the Civil War he was also ask to lead some of the loyalist forces in battle skirmish of around 20,000 men. But its true that he has no idea how the monster army fight or how the terrain of the island look like.
>>19745468>Miss vote over what to do with avina>/tg/ kills herCurse my need for sleep.I'm surprised that we did not at least try to ask her which option she wanted.
>>19746577Based off the signals we got from the stone.I think she wanted the golem...
>>19746636>opinionsI for one saw it more like along the lines of: "Oh, so I'm going to die now. It's ok, I had some good times with you."
Wow this thread is still up. Wow Avina died... again.>>19746577This! Being UTC0 is suffering.
>>19746577Some of us tried to save her.
