Last time on GuardsMan Quest, Fight for Amerigo Secondus, Fineas Edward Line, servant of Inquisitor Ezekial Abdul Kane, Last Scion of the House of Line, and would be leader of the fight against the Tau left his followers on the surface. There they did the Emperor's work and prepared for his return.

What Line found beneath the streets and spires of D.C. Hive changed his life forever and drastically modified his plan for fighting the Tau.
>>
In his journey to the subteranean village of the Tunnel Cats Line told the story of his family, how the servants of his house became surrogate siblings and parents and how his family's cook sacrificed his life to save Line from an Assassin.

Svetlana told the story of how a man named only "The Crusader" used a suit of golden armor to bring peace to the wartorn Underhive eight centuries ago, turning it into the relatively civilized Undercity.

Anevka told the story of Emperor Norton the 1st and how his unceasing attempts to improve the lives of the Undercity's citezans made the underhive a better place to live for everyone, abhuman and natural alike. How in gratitude for his efforts he was elected EMperor by the twelve tribes and how he served out his term peacefully, without begitting an heir to his throne or naming a succesor.

Upon arriving at the Tinnel Cat's village the group ate, and rested and Line found himself on another vision quest. This time as Baron Wulfenbach, Rogue Trader, Nobleman, and loyal servant of the Emperor. With his world engulfed in chaos after the death of the Planetary Governor Wulfenbach found himself the only sane man in the company of megalomaniacs and tyrants. He did things his way, And they worked. Under his rule the planet prospered, and thanks to this man's memories Line became that much more an effective leader. (He also likes waffles now.)
>>
Hey OP, your on a PS3 Arn't you, to save time why not make a pastebin with all the recap?
>>
Refreshed and ready to confront the council Line traveled to the chambers of the Tibal elders only to find himself stopped by an intimidating Tribal matron. After a mild stare down she decided toask Line to do her a favor. Bandits had camped out at the Shrine of the Crusader and were murdering pilgrims. She asked line to untervene on the tribe's behalf and Line agreed.

The implications of what he discovered were disturbing,
>>
>>19859888
sensible but unless you know of a place I can type this shit up without my word count limit we'll have to do this the long way.

Which is to say if you have a solution I love you platonically, if not please be patient.
>>
He discovered Kroot, who'd gained fanatical followers who'd decided to engage in thier cannibalistic eating practices. After using the sniping skills of the Vindicair Assassin Gun (first dream quest) to end them he moved on to the shrine of the crusader, opened for him and allowed him to enter to to his very distant relation to the Extinct House of Lodestar.
>>
>>19859920
Shit, fair enough, what about google docs?
>>
Telling his followers to stay back, for fear of hidden security systems Line advancedinto the tombs depths. It took an hour to reach the bottom of the tomb and there he found a cadaver wearing a suit of golden armor and a recording left by the Crusader. There the embittered, slightly drunk man told of how he ended the pointless gang wars by killing everyone of consequence and paid the providers of hunting rigs to build his tomb and take thier business elsewhere. Line was face with a decision then. Starve to death or be judged by the tomb on his worthiness to bear a hunting rig.

I'll try it later, with any luck chapter 5 will include a speedily posted quest. If not we'll continue the same old way.

He took the test, and passed. When he awoke he foundhimself wearing his own sleek, golden set of armor. He also learne dthat the armor possessed no inherent offensive or defensive abilities of its own. Instead it had a unique ability that mad eit perfect for fighting the Tau.

It ate technology.
>>
Using his new skills as a World Conquerer and his recently gained holy artifact Line rallied the elders of the Tunnel Cats to his cause and began to gain volunteers in the thousands. But its day two and he has one more day before he has to return to the surface and there are twelve more tribes to visit. Who will he recruit?
>>
-brief interlude-

As I remember it We decided on:
Squats, Ratlings. Naturals, Beastmen (fuck you GW, beastmen can serve in the guard), Nightsiders, Stilts (sort of tall, stretched out humans) "Lizard Men" (like killer croc from batman) Feline Abhumans, And thats all I can remember that's six tribes, what are the other remaning tribes?
>>
>>19860050
"Okay we have Ratlings, Squats, Beastmen (assorted types divided into noblehouses.) Nightsiders (look like max shreck from nosferatu, look it up.) apemen (hairy, apelike features, fangs and flat noses but never exposed nostrils), "Lizard men" (thick scaley skin, at worst it may have a grayish cast) Feline abhumans (already recruited a lot of them), and thats about all I can think of. Any additions?" is what you chose
>>
>>19860060
that about sums it up.

we can choose from the tribes we've got here or make more, doesn't matter to me. Whatcha wanna do guys?
>>
>>19860050
I think we should go visit the ratlings and squats as they are the most mechanically minded and we need weapons and the like.
>>
>>19860032
squats and beast men
squats (I assume) are skilled with tech and fot the standard dwarf packace of short, tough and angry

beastmen because it was somthing about minotaurs in the last thread.

an army of mighty minotaurs, supported by dwarven artilery and whatever else they have alongside stealthy cat girl commandos seems fairly formidable.
>>
>>19860032
Well, that's actually 8 if I can still count.

We should focus on the ones that will be most useful where the fighting is going to take place. The upper parts of the underhive and where it connects to the hive proper. We already have Felinds, getting some marksmen would be nice so the Ratlings would be a good choice. Maybe some shock trooper sorts in the form of Apemen or perhaps Beastmen if we can manage two. We'll want the Squats soon for weapon expertise and tunnel fighting, but for just leading an army up to the surface to facilitate bringing a metric fuckton of supplied and weapons down they won't be the highest priority.

We'll get the rest later.
>>
>>19860070
>>19860077
>>19860082
Beastmen are composed of several noblehouses focused around what type of beastmen they are, we have minotaurs, bears, lionmen.... basically if its big, angry, hairy and can use a heavy bolter or whatever without mechanical assitance its a beastman, feel free to get creative.

Squats are short, tough and mechanically capable, we'll just assume a group of them fell through the cracks on D.C. Hive a few thou years ago, useful as troopers but Ezekial promised us a tech priest so they aren't terribly needed, even later on.

ratlings are of course sticky fingered snipers as they're usually portrayed. (fell through the cracks.)

Nightsiders are ugly but great at night and stealth ops, good for sabotage and if they have sunglasses than they can make excellent snipers during the day, at night they're still good snipers.

Apes are pretty standard shock troops and so are lizardmen. Its like having killer croc and some refugees from the planet of the apes on your side.
>>
so we already have stealth commandoes, nabbing beastmen is a must since we need heavy shock troopers, but we're left wondering what we should get next.
>>
>>19860144
In that case I vote for Beastmen and Apemen, For heavy weapons and shock troopers respectively.
>>
>>19860172
one for beastmen and apemen.

Stilts kinda look like someone put a person in a taffy stretcher and pulled on 'em, they're tall and surprisingly graceful. Good all around and great for climbing things.

oh and the naturals are descended from thugs, killers, crazies, and deviants so they're pretty 'ead hard as the orks put it. They'd also make pretty good shcok troops.
>>
>>19860199
Whilst the naturals might be dead ard, they arn't apemen that could probably inspire fear in the enemy

>leadry dorn
So we must become Dorn then inglip?
>>
>>19860231
>inglip

Oh the good old days
>>
okay I think that we have consensus here. first the tribe of the beastmen, then the tribe of the ape men.

WRITAN!
>>
You wak up feeling sore, bruised, scratched and immensly satisfied. Judging from her expression Anevka feels much the same way. The council may have appointed her your consort but you can't help that feel it was probably a good decision on several fronts. I f only you weren't so damned short in association to her.

You gently pull yourself from her embrace and leave her sleeping on the bed. You find your backpack and pull on you're guard issue pants. They're Amergo blue and made of tough, comfortable fabric. You pull on your socks and then you lace up you boots. You pause to examine the Brand of Kane upon your chest, its still an Inquisitorial rosay but at some point it changed. Now it has a twelve pointed star acting as a background decoration for the rosary. You do your best to ignore the goosebumps and pull on your undershirt. Then you pick up your weapon belt and examine the mono dagger and sword. Juding from the way the armor works you could gain a monoblade melee weapon from absorbing these.
>>
>>19860313
Well then I guess its OMNOMNOMNOM time
>>
But you'd only need to absorb one, probably just the dagger at that. What do you do?

>A:gift the sword to Anevka
>B: keep the sword.
>C: assimilate both weapons into the armor.
>D: assimilate nothing.
>E: your choice
>>
>>19860330
A. Give that bitch a sword, bitches love swords.
>>
>A:gift the sword to Anevka

We don't need a sword, we're the shooty type of commander
We are actually very tau like in that regard, with our super advanced armour and pulse weapons

I prefer to stick to lasers, though. They are efficient, reliable and easy as fuck to aim with negligible recoil.
Also, the ammo packs recharge on their own

Well women do like swords. Well YOU like swords, why wouldn't Anevka like swords? You move over to the armor and briefly examin your hair, its shorter than it was, and like your father's its so black its almost blue. You can see numerous tiny scars on your forehead, and if you angle it just right you can see one approxamitely two inches in length just under your hair at the back of your head. Guess that explains why you feel such a connection with your Techno Vore rig. You order the armor to open up and begin the assimilation of your old monodagger. Then inspiratuion hits and you assimilate your sword too. All the mass for the weapons your armor makes has to come from somewhere right?

With both melee weapons assimilated you begin your experiment. Time to see what this armor can really do.
>>
You form it using all of your armor's power and precision. Its made with techniques not seen since the Dark Age of technology, the blade is perfect down to the atomic level and its cutting edge is less than a micron across. You'll gift it to your new consort.

>The blade, what does it look like, what is its name?
>>
>>19860404
The suit has its own power source and will provide anmmunition to weapons. We can provide special ammo to weapons only after we've assimilated that ammo. So if we want hotshot lasers we have to feed the technovore rig a hotshot charge pack. We can only do low power lasers at the moment but we can make a lot of them, and standard tau pulse blasts, but that'll change as we kill more tau and get more loot.

also as you can see we can use the armor to make things, thats dependent on uor tech skill because its ranked amatuer. Obviously to make a big gun we'd need enough mass on hand for the armor to convert to make the big gun.

swords are easy though, we could do that shit all day.

looks like this

I name it Slice
>>
>>19860525
I assume that'll be his first action after the trucks get down here. okay does anyone want to name the blade slice and give her a cutlass? Its kind of amusing in an "I suck at names" way.
>>
>>19860566
I like it, lets do it.
>>
Remembering the swashbuckling tales of your youth you're suddenly struck by just how stupid some of the writing was. I mean goddamn naming a sword slice? What the actual fuck? The armor working off your memory forms a fairly stereotypical pirate blade, though the handgrip is made of a wierd gel like material that conforms to the users hand and the guard combines both a basket for hand protection and small spikes to give the wielder that much more "oomph" when punching. The blade is a fairly typical cutlass blade, though this one is black and seems to absorb light so that its more suited for wetwork. Why not call it slice? Its what it does.

You carefully constuct a sheath for the blade, afterall the cutting edge is a quarter of a micron thick, no way in hell you can use something like this without cautionary measures. With that you sheath the blade, place it on the bed and gently shake Anevka awake.
>>
Anevka sleepily comes to and first examins your armor, she's still got some of the old reverence in her eyes but its been tempered with a halthy amount of amusment and the mild contempt that she seems to hold for everything. You hand her the sword, the sheath is black as the blade and is just as enduring as the metal of your armor. "I call it slice, like-"

This earns a small laugh from Anevka. "Like the sword Tobias Smith and his 13th Black brigade. Its gorgeaus thank you lover" Another hug from the seven foot tall catwoman. Your PSI gauges indicate that she's holding back, this would proably hurt a little without the armor but you wouldn't be in physical danger. There's a glint in her eye now. "Get out of that armor and back into be Crusader, I think we need to celebrate."

>A: why not?
>B: too busy, have soldjas to recruit.
>C: you choice.
>>
>>19860767
>B: too busy, have soldjas to recruit.
"Also my spine needs to recover"
>>
>B: too busy, have soldjas to recruit.
>>
"As enjoyable as last night was Anevka I am a pampered noblaman's son. Therefore I must heal a bit before I can provide you with any gratification that you deserve." Anevka seems disappointed but she HAS seen you naked. She's got to know how much damage she did to you during last night's coupling. Also it seems she found your lack of claws and fangs refresshing in a lover.

"Besides;" You continue, quickly evading the fact that your consort could probably snap your spine over her knee if she felt like it. "We need to get out to those other villages and get more troops. We need soldiers, fighters to back up your people's natural stealth capabilities." This sends Anevka into a thoughtful mood.

"Just how many soldiers?" She asks, clearly moving on from her desire to make you say her name a half dozen times.

"We need fighters, people to keep the tau occupied while you're tribesmen move in and stealth kill them." This small compliment seems to make Anevka just that much more inclined to like you.
>>
"There's the beastmen. You're not going to find more devout followers of the Imperial creed down here. Also they have to be the biggest strongest fighters in all of the undercity. Once we have those guns we can work on arming them with proper heavy weapons." Once again you're forced to raise your opinion of Anevka's intelligence a notch or two.

>A: beastmen!
>B: something less conspicous.
>C: your choice

>>

>>
>>19860978
>Bear Tesudu
captca seems to recomend we recruit some bear men
>>
At the end of the meeting the council called for volunteers to serve as heralds. These heralds, wearing purity seals and other sacred symbols of the imperium traveled out into the undercity to send word of the Tau. Which just leaves your quest for the beastmen. You allow Anevka to get dressed and then the pair of you set off for the Village of Beastmen.

[retconning these "Villages" to have around 500'000 people in them because hives are huge and D.C. hive is home to something like six billion people.]
>>
[feel free to post pictures of your favorite beastmen. Might give me ideas,]

Like it or not there's no way for you to travel without attracting a horde of followers. That's just the way these people think. Your armor looks like the crusaders armor and can do amazing things. Therefore it is a relic of holy power. You've been doing your best to explain that no, you cannot beless people and turn them into pure humans all day. The wierdest part was when a natural human asked you if you could do that.

You decide its best if you don't know his story and send him on his way.

You have however allowed people to touch your armor and pray to the God Emperor or the Crusader for deliverence or whatever they may want. You were particularly amused when a gambler asked for unending luck at the craps tables. But youfind yourself faced with a decision.

You're surrounded by an enormous circus. There's no way you'll get to the village without them knowing of your passage ahead of time. What do you do?
>>
>A: a group like this may draw bandits down on thier heads. send them away.
>B: whats wrong with an entourage, you're moving at a decent clip why not entertain your followers?
>C: your choice

B. I feel pretty confidant that we could take on some bandits, it also means that there's overall less bandits about.

Your very basic beastman

explain that there may be some danger and that none may acompany you save those well exuiped and able to fight. also that you need travel at speed as such any who acompany you must be prepared and able. You would be unworthy of the crusaders legacy if you were to lead these people into danger without at least ensuring they stood a decent chance of surriving mostly unscathed.

Hopefully that should cut down on the size of our merry warband without ruining to many good moods
>>
>>19861165
so we have a vote for keeping our entourage, and some minotaurs. Cool.
>>
>>19861169
this is probably the best option I think.

Writan.
>>
You bring the party to a halt, it can only be described as a party because of the ongoing festivities, and slowly, carefully, leaving no room for mistake, explain that this has to stop. You are a earrior and must do warrior's work. To do that you cannot have the weak or infirm following you and as much as you hate to do this, they must pack up and go home. Anyone who's willing to fight can stay though.

This shaves the group down to a motley crew of Tunnelcats, Lizardmen, nightsiders, and one very large, very well dressed bearman. Over all you're pleased with the change of pace.
>>
As you lead your merry band through the Tunnels with the aid of MR. bearington to act as a guide, things turned out pretty much as you feared they would. "FOR THE GREATER GOOD!" You push Mister bearing ton out of the way and take a pulse blast to the chest for your troubles A fire team of tau led by a Guevesa armed with what appears to be a tau modified Imperial laser rifle. He's also got a a drone that's shielding him from attack.

Thankfully you've rolled into cover and despite the pain in your chest you're mostly fine, some pain in the chest, definite burns, and so are your people. But you need to arm yourself and get ready to take down those Tau.

>Stealth assets: Anevka, CQC specialist Nightsider SNiper
>Shock Troops: Mister Bearington: CQC, heavy stubber, 5 Lizardmen, Stubrifles, swords. 3 nats, Las Carbines, swords

We will stick to pulse rifles everywhere.
Stick to shooting, position the sniper so that he performs area denial.
Keep the melee people in cover and ready to attack if someone gets too close.

You commune with your armor, and in a moment four pulse weapons form themselves. A pair on your forearms, and a pair on your shoulder mounts. You charge out of cover and target the man in the lead, some arrogant fuck going full auto on the incredibly ugly (but extremely effective sniper) who've currently hiding behind a large, red hot pipe. You open fire. The shield dron dips in the air and the round slams into a shield and puffs out of existence. Okay that shit ends now. You target the guevesa with your shoulder guns and fire a full round burst and he collapses, the fire team turns fire on you and beguins to retreat, they started as six men but thanks to the efforts of your warband they've been reduced to four. (one shot by the sniper, and one long burst from Mr. Bearington's heavy stubber.) You have a choice.

You turn your guns on the fleeing firewarriors, its pretty obnvious with your augmented sense that these are humans in tau manufactured armor, not tau. You're about to open fire when you feel your attention diverted to the shield drone, its hovering in the air, providing cover for the Tau's escape.

You feel...hunger.

You do your best to keep in control but an animalistic snarl reverberates through the MIU straight into your mind. The hunger of your Technovore rig overtakes you and you charge across the battlefield heedless of everything except that delicious technology. You tackle the drone out of mid air in a leap that you would swear you're incapable of under normal circumstances. Small mouths form out of the golden metal of your armor and begin to chomp down on the drone. One of the firewarriors stops and watches you in morbid fascination. It takes a handful of seconds and the drone is gone. The backpack on your armor beeps for a few moments and extends four, small glowing rods. "ENERGY SHIELD AT 100%"
>>
You look at your hands and watch the metal carefully in the dim light of the undercity. The techpriests are right. Machines are alive, they have wants and desires, and this one wants to devour technology. You carefully comune with the Technovore Rig and feel that it is sated by its recent aquisition. For now. But you could probably aid in your production of useful stuff by consuming some of what the tau left behind.

>>
if we nom the pistols we get low level pusle weaponry. If we nom the rifle we get high level laser weaponry, if we nom the armor we get standard tau equipment integrated into our armor. Also we can give the armor to tribal chieftans as trophies. WE can use xeno tech but arming our troops with it is a bad idea, they haven't been vetted by an inquisitor.

Whatcha wanna do?

oh and the Gue'vesa are buggin it. "It ATE the drone! what the shit?"

Lets just nom both the weapons so we don't make the tech priests angry. give the armor to the tibals.
>>
>>19862141
producing basic ceramic plates for armor for our followers is simple enough, we can even decorate it. We CAN'T replicate communications equipment or built in optics and stuff because "how do I shot web!?" is our current status. Once we know tech then we'll be able to make full yuse of the technovore's capabilities.

Also converting the armor parts of the tau armor is a good idea, we can make it nice and imperial so that no accusations of heresy occur.
>>
>>19862199
okay so our plan is absorb damaged armor, NOM the weapons and convert armor?
>>
rolled 3 = 3

>>19862221
good, convert armor and pulse weapons and nom the lazer. hand out the armor to whoever needs it. (our catgirl, mabey the sniper and a few of the melee fighters)

also use leet shooting to snipe the fleeing Gue'vesa
>>
>>19862283
they rolled a twenty, be glad I applied that to the overall Tau command structure and not the squad itself.

okay so we can only convert simple things like armor or basic weapons like swords and stuff (the armor does the main work and making a micron witdth cutting edge is simple with nanotechnological construction devices are integral equipment) but even a basic firearm is beyond our capacity, also nomming the pulse weapons would give us enough matter to make some upgrades with. The suit had just enough matter for four weapons, after this we'll be able to make some accesories and stuff. Its one part matter, one part power soruce issue.
>>
rolled 4, 3 = 7

You decide to indulge the Technovore rig, and improve your armor abilities. The firsthing you do is take the damaged Taufirewarrior armor and slip it on over your Rig. The Hunting Rig greedily consumes the armor and you get a brief flash of radio contact. "-ate the drone. No I'm not hysterical it smoke Jack and Gren and Ralph and then it forgot about us and ate the drone. I swear it it generat-----" and from there the signal fades out. You have low level command acces to the Tau Communication bands as well as the basic nightvision they equip on most of thier helmets. From there its a simple matter to asbosrb the rest of the armor and the ammo its carrying as well as the photon grenades. The rifles and carbines (and thier integrated grenade launchers) follow the path of all the other tau equipment. You quickly convert the remaining Tau armor to a more imperial style, and consume the advanced mechanical devices as well. Because frankly you don't know how they work. Anevka and the Nightsider (his name is max)-
>>
rolled 5, 4 = 9

now have some ceramic armor. you meanwhile have gained high powered repeating laser weapons, low powered pulse weapons, a functional grenade launcher design, the ability to spawn ten flashbangs per day and basic nightvision, as well as a minor antigrav device that will make jumping easier. (the energy shield is a better option frankly)

There are some knives that you could convert to monoblades, and some officer swords that could get the same treatment. they might make good equipment for your followers.

>A: just distribute the swords and knives, discard the sheaths you can get non heretical sheaths later.
>B: take the time to make monoblades and then move on

Monoblades for EVERYONE!
>>
You take the time to fashion monoblades from the knives and swords that the traitors left behind. The standard imperial monoblade's cutting edge is something like a micron across, you can manage a 4th of a micron across. Only disadvantage is just how dangerous these weapons are without having a sheath to keep the blade's edge hidden away. You take care of that problem too by fashioning simple imperial style sheaths for the blades. Then you move onto the village of beastmen.
>>
The inhabitants of this village are bestial, and for a moment you pnder whether they're human after all. Upon further examination you realize you've never seen anyone quite this pious. They obey the rules of the imperial creed, all of them, they don't even take the EMperor's name in vain. You watch one large ursine woman spank her child in public for takinjg the Emperor's name in vain.

Obviously they're compensating for their appearance by being devout as hell. You find yourself in the townsquare after an hour or two of walking. The councilmen look upon you and demand that you demonstrate the holy powers of your armor. IF you were sent by the emperor and IF the Crusader himself vetted you you should be able to prove it.

>they want proof. how do?
>>
>>19862184
dont be pedantic. we were using xeno guns before the inquisitor.

we can give them pulse weapons or kroot guns.

any gun is better than no gun.

also who was the smart guy who suggested beastmen for a insurection?

we need people who can ambush and run away, or loose themselves in a crowd.

squats for more bombs, nightshades for assasinations and night ops, and ratlings for even more sniper fire.

beastmen and the like would be usefull only in the final push.
>>
ask for a piece of basic technology, and turn it into something else simple.
hell we have the matter to just produce a shitty gun if we want to
>>
>>19862620
we're grabbing equipment so we can arm the insurgency and make our base in the undercity. Beastmen make for good shock tactics in the first push, whose entire point is to grab supplies we need to set up a resistance effort.

and yes WE the niave nobleman were using xeno weapons, and we're lucky Ezekial decided to use us as a pawn otherwise that might have comeback to bit us. Abhumans have it hard enough without being accused of heresy.

>>19862635good point, we could probably make a monoblade out of nothing if we had to. our followers have some basic stubbers we could take one of those and convert it into a fancier looking stubber made of refined materials.
>>
>>19862615

You notice that Max is carrying around an old stub revolver. Its rusty and pitted with age. No way in hell it could ever fire, well ever fire safely. You ask him why he carries it and he tells you its been in his family for generations. You ask him to give it to you but a Wulfenbach glare is enough to get him to give it up.

Converting a pulserifle is impossible for your halfbaked skills, an old stubb revovler is a different matter entirely. You have the armor consume it (max looks so sad...) and then produce a new revolver much in the same vein as its progenator. This one on the otherhand is covered in iconography devoted to the crusader. Max is more than happy to accept this as payment for destroying his old family's revolver.

The elders are speechless.
>>
They apologize for doubting you and declare today to be a feast day. You inform them that you have to be on the surface with an army by the day after tommorrow. They assure you that the feast will only take one day and that you can continue your holy work tommorow.

Well it looks like you're stick in the village of amazingly pious beastmen for the time being. They'll be holding the feast right after the evening prayer so you have a few hours to screw around with, you send your entourage on thier way and request that they come back to join you in the morning.

>You're in a "village" of 50'000 people what do you want to do before the evening feast?

You decide that you've had enough of the place, at first the deviancy of the beastmen's forms were disturbing. Now its the sheer piety they exude. Make syou feel inadequate. You ask the elders where you can get a room and they provide you one at one of the ritzier establishments in the city. Fleeing the devotion of the large, powerful beastmen you lock yourself in your room with Anevka. Its got a stone bed covered in furs, a washbasin in the corner and pictures of various scenes from the imperium's history on the walls. You're more graceful in your attempts to exit your armor this time around and you leave it in the corner next to the Wash basin. You can still feel it via the MIU installed in the base of your skull.

Anevka's gentler this time around and makes liberal use of her fangs and tongues to great affect.

When you drift off to sleep you find yourself somewhere familair.

Genetically engineered navigators helped mankind navitgate through the murky outdimension known as the warp. Something happened, and now its impossible to navigate in the old way. You will never see earth again. Its alright, things could be worse. You found a planet, its even inhabited by humans. They're primitive but peaceful people. You landed here with your scoutship after your navigator had a seizure and died, and now you plan to live out the rest of your life along with the captain and scientist who crewed your ship. You build armor, and swords, and guns. The greenskins keep coming and eventually you figure it out. They produce spores. Then you design a nanotechnological plague specifically designed to kill the greenskins. That takes care of it. From there its just a mtter of clean up and the occasional nanobyte laced flame thrower wash. Sure some people died and the natives now have knowledge of things like conquest and genocide but it was either this or death. You think working on more benevolent tech is probably a good idea from, now on.

You can feel the Omnisiah working through you. ("It's advanced engineering not religion! stop being such a superstitious asshole!") You begin to make modifications to your armor. With the tech taken from the drone and the high potency energy generating material you're able to create an immensly powerful energy reactor for your armor, this will provide your Forcefield Generator and Antigrav system the energy they need to function at once. Further inspiration strikes you and you quickly see the possibilities that your suit's weapons tech can produce. ("Its just extrapolation of possibilities aided by mathematical equation. How the hell can you derive religious awe from this experience?!") You now have access to tau, and imperial style plasma weapons (ranging from low pulse weapons up to the tau plasma rifle, as well as Imperial style plasma weapons, which as we all know can overheat and harm us, you also gain a plasma "Purifier" basically a flamethrower with more plasma)

Some of the Beastmen notice that you're armor has some additions to it but they don't comment on it. Goddamn but this si a subdued society. You take a deep breath and use the speakers installed in your armor to amplify your voice. "Lord Emperor on Holy Terra, please hear your humble servants prayer-" You lead them through the Emperor's prayer, a simple, old fashioned prayer begging the Emperor's to grant you the wisdom to know when you are wrong, the grace to accept when you are unable to change your station in life, and aid in crushing your enemies with rightious fury. Is there a prayer that doesn't include that?

The feast is surprisingly good and once the prayer is done with the party takes off. Its kind of comforting to see the Beastmen enjoy themselves. You were a little worried about them at first but it turns out that they just refuse to sweat the small stuff when it comes to religion. They actually have greens in this feast and not just muchrooms and meat like the tunnel cats. Maybe they have prime farming real eastate?
>>
It takes a few hours but you find yourself slowly circulaated around a large meeting room after the meal. Anevka basks in the attention that being your consort gets her, she's becoming quite popular with the daughters of the noblemen who seem to get a real kick out of her independence. You meanwhile are introduced to the heads of the various noble houses, minotaurs, bearmen, pigmen.... faces and names all blur together. You stop drinking the wine and order your armor to begin syphoning alchohol out of your blood stream. That helps a little but by the end of the party you're looking forward to killing some xenos. God Emperor preserve you from another feast like that.

You return to your bedroom later in the day, cuddle with Anevka and go to sleep with her, aside from some fooling around nothing is really accomplished. You wake up the next day left with a question. The Beastmen are obvously disciplined and intelligent as well as amazingly pious, they will make excellent front line troops.

You depart the beastman village with a profound sense of relief. Anevka is in tow and has directed you towards soemone who she thinks will be useful when it comes to producing more weaponry, armor and other useful items for the war effort. Mr. Bearington is in tow, along with a massive boarman, and a minoataur. All of them are toting heavy stubbers and large melee weapons. Max is still a part of the group, you apparently gained his loyalty when you transformed his family heirloom into something more than a sentimental artifact. The lizardmen are in tow, if only to be away from the confusing mix a piety and jubilation that the village has become. You've got your sights set on the village of the squats and you see no reason to go anywhere else.

The journy is eneventful and after a few minutes in the region just outside of the squat's village your see why. They've settled in an especially large cavern and their settlement is dominated by large towers, these towers mount artillery of some sort, judging from the craters adn scattered bones raiders don't last long in this area. You quickly check flying off the list of things you'll do until you meet the squat elders. No reason to spook them.

Not necesarly only machinery, but the protocol and behavior of getting aboard a shuttle, what kind of papers and documentation is required, etc.

a supply shippment or a return to the Hero Class Cruisers in orbit with properly documented fragile gear in need of repair in a crate, that has a inner timer and a nice fission gun design core ready to go boom would be something to consider.

>>
You arrive in the squat village to less fanfare than you've expereinced so far. The level of fuck being given here is much smaller than elsewhere. You are heartened by the sight of tech, there's decently advanced tech everywhere. You're glad you don't see any guns because judging from the way these squats are look at your armor they'd probably be pointing the weapons at you and demanding your armor. Never the les syou arrive in the council chambers, leaving your entourage outside. The elders get right to the point. Yes the Crusader did a lot for the Undercity, but so did emperor Norton, and all he ever did was talk a whole hell of a lot until people broke down and listened to reason. They want to know why they should follow you. The tech you've seen these squats use is...decidedly under what the legendary squats of old used. Good guns, lots of alchohol powered vehicles and other cool stuuf but not an exosuit or really high tier energy weapon in sight.

"I'm sure we've all heard the legends of your ancestors. Now you've slipped a little." This earns you some glares. "But that's not your fault, shit happens. I lucked into this armor and into the education that granted me my technological knowledge I'm willing to share it with you but I'm going to need your help." The squats are still unimprssed with you. They want ypou ti give your armor to your entourage and go into the working halls and produce a suit of armor like a real technician. When it comes down to it they have a damn good point. Just what kind of man are you without your armor? You have them send for Anevka and Mr. Bearington. You turn over the Technovore rig to the pair and Anevka gives you a kiss for luck. You're introduced to a taciturn squat named Urist who answers your questions with postive grunts and negative grunts. Jusging from the scar on his neck his voice box is a fond memory.

You decide to build him a new one so you can hold a fucking conversation. After you've strappped the sonic sensor and speaker to his neck he exhibits first surprise, and then gratitude. He thanks you for this gift and swears that he'll help you to the best of your ability.

With urists help you fire up the forge and begin building your first suit of armor. You use a motorized hammer to fold steel, and using the lost wisdom of the ages you gather up some trace elements that the Squats had been wasting and make the metal that much stronger. Slowly your work begins to take shape, a skull shaped helm with thermal vision goggles in the eyes. A breastplate bearing a twoheaded eagle, pauldrons in the shape of skulls, kneecaps decorated with eagles. Its a true worke dof art, but you're particularly proud of what you forge to go along with it. An enormous axe, with a micron thin cutting edge, augmented by your knowledge of fforcefield mechanics you forge your first power weapon. Finally you build and archeotech carbine. Like a hellgun it repeats, but its smaller and has a foldout stock, an underslug grenade launcher and a tageting scope.

The elders give up at that point. You know your fucking tech and as squats they can't turn down putting steel to your name if you'll teach them.

simply put, without some form of defence our beast men are probably going to get shot to shit. so, lets give them some half decent armor, we probably dont have the time to enhance it so lets just make some one-size-fits-all stuff to give them a chance to shrug off a few pulse weapon shots.

Fineas and Urist attemot to work on a forcefield system to protect the trucks that they're having developed for thier abhuman troops. It quickly becomes obvious though that they used all the parts that could've been useful for that on the armor. Something you need to take care of in the future.

The squats, under the supervision of Line and Urist take some old ore hauling trucks, strip unneeded plating and parts and strap a laser cannon on the back. After some fiddling with the equipment Line manages to produce a large generator that will power the las cannons in the event that the gunners should run out of ammo. (secret roll)

The squats take some spare sack cloth and some sheet metal and quickly cobble together a suit of hauberk mail for the beastmen. After some fiddling with the design and adding some ceramic plates to it an armor that will survive one pulse blast before falling apart is made. The beastmen are going to be stuck with car mounted laser cannons and heavy stubber but they will have armor.
>>
sadly I didn't wait and we got no shielded trucks. the good news is that double twenties made our armor absurdly powerful in terms of available tech. Now we're going to decide our mission load out for day four.
>>
available weapons: Low to High laser weapons. Can Apply Multi or cannon to laser effect. Cannon weapons restricted to shoulders. Grenade launchers, can produce ten grenades perday, we have had this technology for 1 day so we have a maximum of 20 grenades. We can choose from Chrapnel, Antiarmor, incendiary, flashbang, or plasma. Plasma Weapons: can choose from low to high pwer, can apply purifier (plasma flamer) or cannon variant. Canon is restriceted to shoulder. Antigrave and forceshield. Antigrave tech is retricted to back along with forcefield emitter. Forcefield emmiter can be applied to arm ro make shield. Monoblade tech, power weapon tech.

okay you can put one weapon on each arm and shoulder mount. If you can find a creative way to modify the legs I'll allow it. so what kind of rig will the technovore be on its first day out? in this mission we wonb't be able to switch equipment out at a moments notice...mostly for gameplay balance.
>>
Lets go with a grenade launcher on one arm, a monoknife on the other, a las cannon on one shoulder, and a long range plasma rifle (tau tech) on the other shoulder.
>>
>>19866941
if i remember correctly there is a type of mech leg in armor core games that grants additional weapon slots and a speed increase due to you having an extra pair of legs of beefed up armored legs(its been a while though i just know there is a type of leg like that). there is also a dragoon legs in starcraft our upper half would just be on top.
>>
>>19866941
Our biggest trouble will be battlesuits and vehicles.

Grenade launcher one one arm with 10 anti armor grenades, 2 shrapnel, 2 incendiary, 2 flashbang and 4 plasma.

Mono or power sword and highpowered single shot sniping Pulse weapon on the other arm. We'll just make the sword beforehand and strap it to our waist and draw it if necessary.

Lascannon on one shoulder to weal with vehicles, plasma flamer on the other to deal with any infantry.
>>
>>19866989
If we're going to have a melee weapon on one arm shouldn't it be a power weapon like a fist or something.

otherwise this is a pretty solid load out.

>>19866995

oh right, I completely forgot, we modified that stub revolver, from that and our dark age knowledge we gained mastery ove rprojectile weapons like missiles and bullets and bolts.

so missile launchers, bolters and machine guns are an option too.
>>

can we fly AND use the forceshield?
id say grenade launcher on one arm, las cannon on one shoulder, a plasma purifier on the other arm, and a multi las gun on the other shoulder i guess
>>

I like you. I think this is the load out we should go with. any objections?

no? Good. moving on.

We can also develop special modifications to make our armor more effective, we can either in creasemanuverability by adding jump jets to our legs or beef up our shielding array, or a targeting system... yuou get the idea.

what part of the armor do you want to make more ffective?
>>
>>19867112
Maneuverability is key, given our marksmanship the targeting array is of a lower priority.

Also command and control is very important, maybe make a tacnet that we can patch our forces into for better coordination that is based out of our suit for encryption.

Eventually the chaos dies down and you're left with time to think. You have your armor brought to you and you spend at least and hour just looking at it. You're left with one inescapable conclusion. You can't just keep switching between weapons. You need to figure out a definitive loadout for this monster. You spend thirty minutes doing calculations and you come up with a basic program that will allocate power to the weapons systems. As a side effect of the increased combat effectiveness you need at least an hour to breakdown your equipment, and another hour to reintigrate it so the system can maximaize your combat potential. With that done you program your load out, a grenade launcher for a multiple situation approach, a dedicated sniper rifle based on tau technology, A Las Cannon for wiping out enemy armor, and a modified plasma weapon to deal with infantry. You call it a Purifier. You're left with the nagging concern that you've forgotten something so you update the sensory aparatus of the suit.
>>
You've given it sonar so it can detect the sound of a sniper in the dark, radar so it can pick out a Tau drone flying overhead, improved night vision so a flash of light won't blind you, and thermal imaging to help you pick out well hidden enemies. You also feed your standard issue combead to the suit and program an encryption code and build in a hub for a tactical control network. Its twice as effective as anything the guard is issued and at least a fourth the size. Then you turn your attention to the sword.

It takes hours of hammering steel, adding in exotic elements and carefully tempering the blade, but the final result does not disgust you. You have the sword sharpen the blade for you. Its your best work yet, one fifth of a micron at the cutting edge. Yu install a forcefield generator in the hilt and turn the blade into a power sword. When you're done with the sheath you strap it into a weapons belt and don the armor. Its going to be a long day tommorow.

Obviously we marry Aneka with the Left hand and later Lucy with the right. That, or fate interveins to knock off the hypotenuse.

Go from full ECM sensersuit sniper-lascannon mode to jumpjet roomsweeper shielded close assault badass with a twitch of our eyebrow. Also, does the suit grow when it eats?

Does it have Conversion beamer tech, or could we tap our ancient knowledge to make one, use that and Uber batteries to store mass as energy. That, and packing a conversion beamer would just be cool. Also, we have the grav plate tech, making a Graviton Gun (also impress the Squats with legendary ancestor tech - they're known for gravy guns) should be feasable and makes live capture a possibility by pinning them under their own weight. quickly convert her armor into the stealthiest shit you can, make her invisibru if possible
>>
It takes you a few minutes of thinking but you're able to come up with a quick an easy to make (with your armor anyway) test for prgnancy. It consists of a small tube full of sensory equipment and a needle. You gently prick one of Anevka's fingers and she giggles in her sleep. The test is positive. Well she's prgnant, she could miscarraige, have a mutant, or have twins. Anything could happen. (thankfully you have dark age tech, within six months you should be able to build a gene engineering facility...) Regardless Anevka dserves a say in the matter.
>>
when you inform her of the news she's happy. I mean goddamn,, but is she happy. She gives you one of her full power hugs and you only just manage to stop her before one of your ribs go. You inform her of the consequences and as expected she refuses to stay out of battle. YOu tell her you're assigning her abody guard, that's without negotian. She accepts this rather gracefully. You aslo spend much of the morning making enchancements to her armor. You may not know stealth tech but you can make her armor look inocuous at least. You also increase its damage resistance substantioally. There's not all that much to be done now.

Have Squat Techs instruct the front line troops on the care use and maininance of their new kit.
>>
You have to be on the surface in a few hours, but that doesn't mean you can't prepare. First you assign Urist to be body guard of your consort, at first he seems confused and then you inform him of the situation and order him to keep his mouth shut. He gets the idea quickly enough after that and makes it a habit of sticking close to Anevka. Its kind of amusing to watch a squat in powered armor tag along with a seven foot tall feline abhuman. When you leave the hotel you were garrisoned in you find an assemblage of squat made trucks, each of them armed with las cannons and prepared to kick ass, take names, and transport troops.

A a clean shaven squat with a facial tatoo reminsicent of a tower introduces himself as Zurek. He's going to be commanding you're transports it seems. He's fairly laid back and doesn't seem worried at all about the coming action. This may have a lot to do with the bolt pistol he's got strapped to his hip, its old and well maintained, and looks like a family heirloom.
>>
>would you like to upgrade the equipment of any of your followers before you ship out? Maybe upgrade that bolt gun?

You offer to upgrade Zurek's pistol, dubiously he accepts and actually squaks in outrage when your armor absorbs it. He finds the new pistol with its increased magazine, finger calibration and shiny new targeting scope to be something of an improvement though.

It occurs to you that you should have upgraded anevka's weapons. There's still time. Also you really need to get the armies drilling at least once or twice once you have them all assembled together. Thankfully the trucks will make picking up your troops thant much easier.

>A: upgrade anevka's weapons.

You hitch a ride on the squat trucks, thankfully these were designed for beastmen so you don't forsee any issues about your troops fitting insid e the vehicles. On the way over you give Anevka a pair of a heavily upgraded Las pistol and add a forcefield generator to slice, turning it into a power sword. You reach the beastman village next and despite some tension between the groups Zurek hands out the makeshift imperial armor. Theier leader is a tall gruff minotaur named Labrun. He has a bolter in one hand and a warhammer in the other.

All you short sighted wiggas are thinkin' tactically, and we's needz ta be thinkin'' strastigically. A ponce upgrade here or there is at best a rounding error at the epic scale this is going to be playing out at and we won't have time to do it all pesonally. No, unless we can go to town on a stratigic scale asset (at very least a Warhound) we have better things to do.

Wez got dark age tech. Don't build master-crafted las pistols, build the machine that churns out master crafted las-pistols.
>>
You offer to upgrade Labrums weapons and affixe a laser targeting system to the underside of the bolter. The hammer meanwhile you upgrade with a minor forcefield emmiter. (you can only hand out one more of these, any more and you risk weakening your own shield system.) he thanks you for your blessing and asks if you will lead the Troops in prayer. You agree to, sadly inspiration abandons you and you dilever a solmn but unextraordinary prayer before the assembled troops. They don't seem to mind, any prayer is a good prayer as far as these people are concerned apparently.

You check with Labrum and he assures you he understands the plan. "Go up top, kill aliens as a diversion, shout a lot of holy words so people know we serve the God Emperor, let you and yours get your supplies and retreat into the undercity where the tau dare not follow." That's actaually a damn good summation. This man may have career opprotunities last but not least you advance towards the village of the Tunnel Cats.
>>
When you arrive you find Cat Men and women lined up in thier best gear, usually a mix of gang leathers and semi decent weapons. A fairly short (for a tunnel cat...) woman is leading them. She has one arm and half her face is covered in knife scars, she has a large eyepatch over one eye and a pistol holstered at her side. Whe's also wearing what appears to be a geniune power sword. You look at the weapon questioningly and she shrugs. "Found it one day, Its kind of crappy to be honest." Turns out her name Irridia and she's the oldest proffesional soldier the village has to offer "32 years old." You guess they all just retire once they hit Irridia's state of disrepair.

>you have enough time for 2 drills before you have to march for the surface. you can also perform other short actions. what do?

You can't think of much in the way of inspiration so you decide to cheat, Gun mocks you, Robinsone joins in, and Wulfenbach chides you for being crass. He does compliment you for having the good sense to at least TRY to inspire your troops though so you're doing something right. You kick in your Antigrav generator and loift off the ground, slowly you rise in the air. You carefully modulate you're shield emitter to give yourself a psuedodivine radiance and then you kick your speakers to maximum. "Five days ago the Xeno invaded our world. D.C> Hive, being the largest settlment on this planet was the main focus of thier attention." You pull your arms from thier postion so that your body no longer resembles a "T" you fold your arms behind you. You've got your balance now. "Well they took the wrong damned city. That's what we're going to prove. We will ascend from the undercity, we will stop the tau cold, we will grab the supplies we need and then we'll work on findingf bigger and better ways of killing Tau."

"We will do this until either we have killed all the Tau, or until those Blue skinned bastards get the idea and leave. Now when you go up there I don't want you to kill them. I don't want you to just shoot them. I want you to murder those bastards! We will tear out thier living guts and use them to grease the Axles of our trucks!" This earns a lusty cheer from the men and you can tell that they're at least enthused. Robinsone points out what a poor lubricants guts are, Gun thinks you sold out when you got the fancy armor, Wulfenbach gives it a 7/10. Hee wants you to do better next time.
