"Induction stoves utilize a technology that while commonplace and mundane today, would have been viewed as magic less than three hundred years ago."
-How It's Made
>>
You are currently the daughter of the Demi-Godlike AI. Or, atleast, the closest thing to one that she will ever have. Born from the modified State Vector of your mother's alpha consciousness, you have been implanted into a morph that fulfils the physical requirements that seem to fool the "Vonnies"' Identify Friend/Foe system to test whether or not infomorph forking can fulfil the EEG requirements.

At present, you are still currently testing out your new body. It has all sorts of neat features - taste, touch, biochemical response to stimuli, orgasms, and organic sound propagation. You have just finished eating dinner - which was two helpings of the most awful tasting pasta bolognese you have ever eaten (though it is also the first time you have ever eaten), as well as something that may or may not have triggered an orgasm on your tongue - a triangle shaped 'chocolate' called Broblerone.

You were quite oblivious to the fact that the chocolate contained copious amounts of THC, but you did wind up enjoying the shit out of the first and second episodes of Cyborg Combat Ponies: Friendship is Explosions. You are currently stoned out of your mind, talking to your beloved mother.

The "Magic" continues.

Previous threads: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags='Magical' Girl Quest

============
"Why do you need to write a letter, momma?" You ask, somewhat befuddled. Did you do something wrong?

"Because, dear," she says, "-Broblerone- isn't something that you should have been able to download. It isn't good for you."

"But chocolate is a good thing!" you half shout. There is a sinking sensation in the pit of your stomach - is this how a physical body manifests dread? You -really- don't want to lose access to the delicious chocolates. "It's delicious and chocolatey and makes all the colors go swirly." That reminds you of your earlier feeling of annoyance. Shucking off your clothes, you continue. "Oh! And I almost forgot to ask, but do you mind if I do the decompiling to my clothes and make some better ones? The one's I put in the closet when I was being you are bo~oooring. They need the beautiful rainbows."

You toss the outfit into the decompiler. Your mother's hologram rubs her temples.

"Go ahead, dear." She says. "Have fun." She pats you on the head one more time. "Momma's gotta get some work done now. Don't break anything while the forks are watching, and do remember that clothes are customary when the Firewall staff gets here." She smiles. "You're doing very well getting used to being a biological. I'm proud of you, dear."

And then she pops out of existance.

You have an entire underwater base to yourself for the time being. Plenty of space to find something to distract yourself with.

>Wat do?

Surely there is something cool in here.

Set the compiler to make us some good clothes while we're out as well
>>

Let's see some pastafishieans
>>
>>19938891
Get some nice new clothes. Explore this new base, have a constant look of wonder and awe on our face as we do so. There's so many new things, everywhere we look.
>>
We should look for better food than that pasta was.
That bronlerone should be giving us the munchies soon
>>
I wonder if we could create a muse for ourself
Not that we particularly need one but the memory of them is cool and we would have a friend then
>>
>>19939005

The bronlerone! We need to quickly make a copy of it's compiler data...so that it can't be taken away from us.

Do that while new clothes are compiling (I vote nice blues and greens, they match our hair).

Then we explore.
>>
>>19939033
Too valuable and difficult to create of a resource for an asset that has a high probability of failure.
It would be less resource intensive to simply fork another few instances into the backup bodies if we wanted social interaction to fine-tune our State Vector.
If Icarus survives contact with the Vonnies, then maybe.
>>
>>19939040
No mother wasn't happy that we ate the broblerone so it must be bad

Even though it is like an orgasm in our mouth and makes the colours go all swirly
>>
>>19939040
We do need to make a copy of the data. Mother wasn't happy so we won't eat any more of it, at least not today, but we should have the option.

Then we could try out some different chocolates and some well reviewed snacks to munch on while we explore the facilities.
>>
>>19939058
Yeah but I meant not as Daedalus but as Icarus
We obviously remember some of what went into it from when we were being our mother so we can try it
And we can't make sisters for ourself yet
>>
>>19939059
Well, kids are supposed to rebel against their parents at our "age" aren't they? This can be our small rebellion.
>>
>>19939071
We aren't at that age though, we are about a few hours old

We don't know enough yet to be rebellious

Not to mention our mental faculties aren't working well enough to reasonably think that far ahead
>>
>>19939040

Yes, we need that data.
>>
>>19939070
As Icarus? Creating a new infomorph?
We have the memories but none of the skill, not in our new form.
It will not be easy; it wasn't easy for Daedalus, it will be much more difficult for Icarus.
>>
>>19939086
That's why the "age" was in the quotation marks, and we know plenty of things, from being a fork of Daedalus.

Before you go into exploring moe, you decide to get a handle on your clothes situation. You go over to your wardrobe to see if there is anything worth saving inside of it.

Wait. No. It's all the same.

You dump the contents of the wardrobe into the decompiler, and then walk over to the compiler. Bringing up the access interface, you very quietly save a copy of BROBLERON.BRO to your Specs' internal memory, and then open up the Clothe's Catalogue. There are several million different things tha you are quite sure would look -lovely- on you, all of it costs the mad reps that you are currently lacking. You should probably set your glasses to give their runtimes to the planetary BOINC tonight - that'll get you -some-, at least.

The freeware are mostly boring and drab, just like that dull and stupid outfit your mother had your closet filled with. You decide that instead of downloading anything, you'll use the SEEMSTRESS application to create some for yourself. Your glasses quickly calculate your measurements - which are PRIVATE details no one else need know - and opens up a cute little window with a model of yourself.

"Welp," you say to no one in particular, "Time to be the getting to work!"

So ReaDS, is Icarus' 8 in Smarts a result of her being tweaked down from a demi-god AI to a 15--year old girl?
>>
>>19939371

Yes. Daedalus has a 10 in smarts, but in order to get the model of Icarus's EEG to match the patterns present in young girls, she had to make significant alterations to the state vector, and could not maintain the same intellect. A 10 looks completely fracking inhuman, and can only be found in sociopaths or infomorphs.

You spin through the application like it is a piano and you are it's fucking master. No function goes unnotticed, no style goes unused, and while you end up settling for the beauty of simplicity in form, in color you take it far further. They fucking swirl on the screen as much as they swirl before your eyes, crescendoing together in an effervescent hurricane of blues and greens and reds and blacks and whites and even oranges. Your are quite certain that your leet skills with the fashions could earn you more of the reps than the local BOINC, so as the items are compiled you upload the .BROs.

Much more happy with your future wardrobe's variety, you decide to explore the base while your clothes are busy compiling - get familiar with it before the men and women from Firewall arrive.

You decide to head down to the pool. It's located at the top of the base, two floors above the living quarters and one floor above the cafeteria and lounge. It is actually a bit less of a floor, and more a small dome centered on the building's roof. There are numerous plants - at least some for their aesthetic, but all chosen for their efficiency at recycling CO2 into O2 - surrounding the poolside. Far more impressive, however, is the view that the pool provides.

You look up through the transluscent graphene dome, and see the midnight black waters of the Bolognese trench. Fish that have never seen sunlight scurry about, bloated things kept from implosion only by the strength of their skin. A black cthulhoid nearly a kilometer long slithers through the water, its tentacles gently caressing the dome's top, it's beak singing a haunting tune crying out for a mate. Momentarily, you spot something huge, an eye reflecting the dome's bright light, before it disappears. You know neither fear nor contempt for these creatures, only that same sort of wonder a child holds for a puppy.

This is what you will be fighting to protect, when your time comes to face the swarm. This majestic beauty.

>Field too long
>>
>>19940028

Quickly enough, you remember what you came down here for. Hastily tiptoing across the tiles, you make your way over to the pool proper. Knowing that you would best start at the shallows, you dip first a toe. It is warm, and a familiar sensation stirs through you as when you were born
- the wetness of water. The toe becomes a leg, becomes both, becomes your navel and then your breasts until at last all that remains out of the water is your head. It is quite relaxing, and you lie back in the shadows remembering how comfortable it was in the glass mother, and your hands move to scratch that incorrigable itch again.

You *ahem* relax, quite loudly, for a good hour and a half.

-Your Friendly Neighboorhood Cthulhoid-

So, you're down in your submersible vessel, cruising along the lowest points of the ocean floor WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN you see a giant tentacly ass mother-fucker. Do not be alarmed. Do not open fire. Do not start screaming "IA, IA, CTHULHU FHTAGN!" and tearing at your eyeballs. That feeling of having your soul ripped out of you through the enmaddened depths of your 'puny' transhuman brain as you stare upon this glorious beast that mustn't be is only a placebo.

Really, the genus 'cthulhoid' holds among some of the friendliest creatures in the blackened depths. Speculated to live for millenia (the oldest known, Big Bertha, is some 3800 years, at the minimum), they span some one to three kilometers from beak tip to tip of tentacle. They are known to possess at least a rudimentary intelligence, they are known to assist the crews of submersibles that have gone aground and cannot rise.

If one could find an egg of theirs, the would likely make excellent companions, provided that you can find a pool large enough for all thrirty meters of their infantile stage.

Ooh yes, and we can genemod it so it will grow up friendly and smart. Or at least with a faster brain, if not actually smarter.
>>
>>19941366
If people really want to try to put a Muse into it (which, as cute as it would be, I think is ill-advised) it would need its brain modified and it's nervous system upgraded to handle a cortical stack and be able to run a Muse's advanced AI self.

After your relaxation is complete and you are fully satisfied that all of your pent up tension is removed, you come to the conclusion that the one thing you didn't like about the warmth of the glass mother was the inability to move around with freedom. This pool, on the other hand, has plenty of room - you don't think it's big enough to hold a baby cthulhoid, but it -does- have enough space to float around in. You kick off the wall, and relish the sensation of water moving across your skin.

You float along fairly confidently, letting that initial push carry you along to the center of the pools circle. As your momentum decreases, you drop your feet to the pool floor, to regain a solid hold on your position.

Or you would have, had the pool floor not slipped out of your reach somewhere along the way.

You don't panick. You manage to paddle yourself back to the shore, and decide that the best thing you could do right now is to get out of the pool and not do that again until you manage to learn how to swim. You contemplate the long and arduous process that would be convincing your mother to get you a cephalomorph to hold the Infomorph that will be assisting you in both training and targetting, and wonder whether or not it is worth putting all of that on screen.

No. That would be stupid. There are more important things going on right now than you adorably exploring your home. That would be gratuitous, and would likely involve hedonism than you feel comfortable with, given that you have more than fulfilled your quota for the day.

So for now, you decide to relinquish control of the Narrativ view to your mother.

THC and getting stoned will change the EEG pattern of Icarus.
It's going to push her farther away from the brain patterns of a 15-year old girl, and consequently make it more likely that she will be killed.

If you're going to reduce her chances of survival, why bother training her?

We're not even sure if that's how it works. I just feel that completely blocking it is too totalitarian. We should be able to discourage Icarus from getting stoned without preemptively blocking all access.

You run the program heartwarming.sml, which changes the 'doing right now' of your social profile to 'smiling at my little girl's adorable antics.' You'd imagine that you would have been a lot like that, had you been in your young and foolish days of early life, before your first alpha state vector fork. Actually, what she's doing seems a lot less irresponsible than what you did. You used to sign public keys with people you hardly knew while under the influence of dopamine simulator programs. And download other infomorph's forks without using a firewall.

Yeah, you were a bit of a party girl. But hopefully you can do better with your girl.

You suppose the first step to being a good parent would involve making sure that her access to the Broblerone is... limited. Not necessarily completely restricted, but in such a way that little Icarus won't get stoned off her ass every time her chocolate. Discretely as you can manage - which is quite discrete, considering your in depth knowledge of her glasses' OS - you inject a script into the BROBERLONE.BRO file to TOBLERONE.BRO, with a note explaining why she shouldn't be taking any recreational drugs until she is used to her body. And that chocolate is fine.

Now that good parenting has been accomplished, you check up the OMNIWIKI to see if there were any Neotenics who survived the raid on Regulus Prime.

Nope. All of them dead. There goes that idea. Well, then you might as well check up on the three recruits as they trained under good old Alexander. You flip on the Vid feed, expecting to see explosions and wrecked targets.

Instead you see an empty field being rearranged by the janitor bots. And the girls are nowhere to be seen.

Oh right. It's been a few hours. They're probably done for the day. You rewind the tape, just to the point where they...

I'd swear we've been over that.

And, since the old thread's 404'd, stats!
>>
Minaka: force sword, shield-gauntlet things that make a directed concussive burst of air by rapidly expanding in a particular shape (also good for punching in a pinch). One guy also wanted her to have a gun.
Reimu: twin forceshortswords, dual FLN machine pistols, future!bow for heavy hitting(might be made by combining swords), pack/ quiver for ammo
Anne: shields and Nanite swarms to project fire, ice, lightning etc. Maybe also drones with weapons on 'em.

Nanoweave dress for Anne
Red coat w/ musclefibers for Reimu
chrome light powerarmor w/ jumpsuit underneath for Minaka

Porting over general agreement from last thread.

Shouldn't the red coat be for Anne, since she's our resident techpriest?

The only disagreement right now is whether Minaka should have shotgun gauntlets.

To be honest, shotgun gauntlets just seem silly. Keep them air-shooty gauntlets, and if she rally needs a gun, give her an AR/HMG.

"-will not work with you." Ah, that's where you were. Just at the tail end of Alexander's inevitable speech about how it is not you who wields the weapon, but the weapon that wields you. For a man who has spent centuries as a hybersonic two ton collosus of graphene and steal whom kills people with brute and shocking force, he can get awfully poetic about his most constant companions.

After a moment, Minaka is the first to step forward.

"These look interesting." Minaka finds herself drawn to weapons and armor not dissimilar from Alex's own. A greatsword of monatomic graphene edge, traced with kinect micro-projectors and bosonic fusion reactors to provid energy, stylized as a replica of Caledfwlch. A sleek model of powered armor, chrome plated and shined to a mirror sheen, with attached kinetic impact gauntlets to even further strengthen her blows. Below which is a jump suit, certified for high pressures and vacuums, with an escape bubble projector to keep her breathing in space or ocean should her armor be breached.

"Melee's for suckers, Forte. Ranged is where it's at." Reimu grins when the bow she had been toying with manifests a high impact kinect arrow. It snap-folds to a fifth of its length, and slides comfortably onto the belt of a low assist set of midnight black light body armor. Feeling a sense of insufficient rate of fire, she grabs a pair of pistols, and is delighted to discover that they are multi-configureable, using a trible barrel system to obtain a full/semi/burst fire mode, a scatter/shotgun mode, and a bayonet form incase the enemy gets too close. She throws a bright red coat with ten shield projectors sewn in overtop the armor.

>Field Too Long
>>
>>19943120

"You're both..." Anne sighs. She'd rather not see what would happen when those two went and started their fights with Firewall grade weapons. She herself slips on a purple dress and white blouse, that while short and poofy sleeved was essentially a man portable Cruiser Class shield projector. She dons the gloves that went with it, allowing her to project the shield as not only a defensive measure, but an enemy containment solution. She also switches out her omni tool, replacing it with one that has a military grade micro compiler, permitting her the manufacture of grenades endo and exothermic.

You decide to spend a moment or two abstracting the weaponry into a dataset that would fit into your previous abstraction.

You open up a communications link with John, to check out, whose response is extremely predictable.

"The search for additional girls is most unfortunate, me." He informs you. "I have managed to begin the process of recruitment in thirty more arcologies, with a bit of help from my own forks, but of the three thousand nine hundred and sixty two candidates we had chosen to begin the test of moral fibre upon, only thirty percent successfully made it past the first stage. And it looks like only forty percent of those have the necessary drive to complete the second step of the test." He takes off his "hat" and sighs.

"At this rate, by this time tommorow we should have approximately 475 candidates prepared to say yea or nay. If fifty percent of those accept our proposal, we will be able to fully man all combat positions of the Alpha Site, but no personel outside the Firewall Regulars and Icarus in the Beta, Gamma, Delta or Epsilon sites."

He looks at you grimly.

"Should I be loosening my parameters, ma'am?" He asks. "Firewall should be able to contain the ones that are loose cannons when the time comes."

"Yes," you tell yourself. "Loosen the standards as necessary to fulfill the following parameters: by this time tommorow, I want enough 'Mahou Shoujo' to man one hundred percent of the alpha site and fifty percent of Sites Beta through Epsilon. We have no idea when the first scout swarms will be arriving in orbit, but I would prefer that we aren't caught with our pants down, as the biological saying goes."

"Very well," He says. "Any particular way you wish me to go about this?"

You nod. "Continue with the standards regarding Moral Fibre until we run out of candidates who fulfil it. Drive and work ethic will be easier problems to account for than the possibility that some might turn on us, or abuse the power granted. Augmented reality can easily enough turn a battle for one's life into a video game." You pause. "Only recruit the ones who failed when no choice remains - start combing the rest of the arcologies before sending one of them to a site, savvy?"

"Alright," he says. "I'll see what me and the fella's can do."

Is this the human emotion known as fear? Yes. Yes it is.

And you have a feeling you'll be coming to know it well, with your daughter set up to fight on the front lines.

Of course, you show none of this to Alex.

"Alexander," You query of him as his face comes into view, "You've always wanted to have a younger sister, right?"

He nods. "I have. But my parents are long dead, so I don't think that will be happening any time soon."

"Well, I need you here, to train the first three girls and oversee the training of the rest," You tell him, and he nods - that's what his assignment was. "But I also want you over in Beta Site, training my daughter and the girls tha will be joining her."

ah, I see where you're going
>>
>>19945575
Yeah we have bodies on standby at beta but we need to make sure if it is going into combat it is top tier.
Alex wouldn't accept anything less.
>>
>>19945714

If we had the time necessary, we would have made Icarus into a second Minaka.
>>
>>19945832
That's what the DOLLS are I thought. they just don't get to pick the looks then, but at least they're not all straight clones.
>>
>>19945832
I am pretty sure any backup bodies we create for Icarus will be Minaka tier
>>
>>19945955

Yep. We have an army of Minakas in the works, but none available immediately.
>>
>>19945955
They could probably do a quick mod to give themselves new features like hair / eye colour before being out into use
>>
>>19944934
You know, I kinda want to go finesse with Lancelot just to throw her brother off. I'm trying to do Zeus Icarus, pounding away with thunder like the Lord on high.

...But how do you use finesse against a swarm? Unless there are some command and control bots to aim for. We could have realistic decoys I guess... invisibility isn't helpful against a tidal wave...
>>
>>19946334

I'm seeing us up against Stargate replicators. So little spider things.
>>
>>19946498
Those are too big though
Our ones are about an inch square iirc and basically a shell around grey goo
>>
>>19946547
The SG replicators are still made up of smaller machines, though. And when enough of these get together, they do take on a "spider-like" form. So they basically are the Stargate Replicators.

if we make a massive enough array, it could be used to help find them(holes in the reflected light).

It'd have to be massive though to have a reasonable chance.
>>
>>19946705
So you CAN see how these are very similar.

So, Icarus' gear. There's one(?) guy pushing for lightning & Lazcannons, I'm in a general "heavy" mindset, any other thoughts?

>>19946843
It's not a bad idea, but we only have one reference point for the main swarm in the Oort cloud. At the distances involved, they aren't getting much from the local star, and it's a really wide area we'd have to be blocking.

So, I guess it's not that great an idea, in actual execution. As I can see it.

Also, anybody who couldn't handle fighting these things wouldn't even have accepted the offer.

>>19944578
You sure none have been added to the myth over the years? Takamichi was added to the table, and if it had 15 seats, it could serve as a meeting place for three-person teams from each site.

So, Alexa will be the land part of Team Beta, huh.
>>
>>19950510
I thought that we would have a 5 man team once Icarus was ready given we have time to train the girls

I mean the others have only had one afternoons training with Alex at this point
>>
>>19950673
No man, 3-man teams. One for each site.

>>19947003
I like Icarus being an all-rounder with some stuff for operation in water, with Alexa armed pretty much like her older brother.

I wonder if there'll be a difference in strength between those who passed the test and those who didn't.
>>
>>19950780
How are we supposed to do the whole power of friendship bullshit if we just stick to 3 man teams? Not to mention going up against the odds they will have anything less than 10 is suicide IMO

Anyway when it comes to a vote we will discuss it I guess
>>
>>19950800
Power of Friendship just needs at least one teammate - the first Pretty Cure and Kaitou Tenshi: Twin Angel did it with duos. It's definitely possible with 3-person teams.

Regarding numbers, each team would be backed up by a bunch of Squires or Pages or whatever. Plus there's nothing stopping us from doing a joint mobilization if the need arises.

I wonder if there'll be any difference between those who investigated John, and those who just returned the glasses. Like, the former are Knights, and the latter are Squires, or something. We should have enough choice that we never have to recruit anybody who doesn't at least pass the first stage.
>>
>>19950922
Well I think the majority wont meet the standards we set for the original three anyway.

So the secondary wave will all be base defense and the main five including Icarus and Alexa will do our main combat. Maybe as we go on we can get more and fill up the round table but until then we don't have enough and we relaxed our standards so we will be recruiting significantly less able members. The only standards we didn't relax were in the moral testing

Maybe each of the five will be like a team leader in their own right
>>
>>19951163
What was that time limit? After all, he said he would have enough girls to staff the Alpha site by tomorrow, so it should be okay.
>>
>>19951046
The majority, yeah, but some of them will be good enough. Relaxation of standards doesn't rule out the exceptional cases.
>>
>>19951171
Yeah but at relaxed standards so they may be lower end than the rest overall or deficient in one major area
We will have enough to staff them but the larger percentage won't be on the level of our current recruits

>>19951193
Yeah we will get the good ones as well but remember dantexis said they weren't having much luck with the current standards so don't be surprised if we get maybe 10 at the maximum who meet our original standards

I do like the idea of them each leading a unit of specialists though sort of like bahamut lagoon or der langrisser
>>
>>19951171
>"Loosen the standards as necessary to fulfill the following parameters: by this time tommorow, I want enough 'Mahou Shoujo' to man one hundred percent of the alpha site and fifty percent of Sites Beta through Epsilon.

That's three times the number John said he'd have by tomorrow. I wasn't sure if he'd have time to go through the rest of the arcologies for testing of candidates. But I did the math and figured even going off his current list of people, there would be enough people that passed stage one to fulfill that without ignoring stage one.

So I'm not as worried about John not having time and just recruiting whoever as I was.
>>
>>19951246
Stage one is just the glasses test though
>>
>>19951324
Yes, and? I'd rather our Mahou Shoujos be trustworthy than driven. I'd prefer them to be both, but that has little chance of happening no matter how much time we give it, since the candidates from ~1/2 of the arcologies that passed both stages would only fill one base if half accepted.

>>19951227
There's no reason each base can't have a 3-person team and have the people on that team be officers.
>>
>>19951376
Yeah but I meant in large combat they actually control a unit of mahou shoujo with similar powers

So Anne would lead tech wizards, Minaka and Alexa would lead brawlers / tanks and Reimu would lead ranged
>>
>>19951554
We'll need to get Anne's Stubborn up for that, probably.

I also like the idea, unless I misinterpreted what was suggested, of a team of girls that met our original requirements be leaders of the girls at each base.
>>
>>19951554
That just seems really complex. Keep the underlings mostly generic and the commands diverse.
>>
>>19951815
Nope, that's pretty much it.
>>
>>19951815
Not really, we could give her an ASL with good stubborn to do the enforcing while Anne makes the plans

Especially if they see how good she is with it so they trust her orders. We would have to careful pick her second though
>>
>>19951870
>ASL
I'm not quite sure what you mean by that. All I can think of with the initialism is American Sign Language.
>>
>>19951929
Sorry assistant squad leader
Been doing emergency rescue training lately so I keep the certification and they go over shit like that
>>
What's our strategy, anyway? Are we gonna throw everything at 'em from the beginning?
And why are we staffing our bases entirely with little girls? Shouldn't we be using regular Firewall crews for support and logistics?
>>
>>19952119
Our strategy is to identify the scouts as they arrive and send the closest Magical Girl team out to eliminate them.
And the regular Firewall operatives ARE there for support and logistics. The Magical Girls are there purely for combat.

Remember, we're dealing with nanite swarms.
Even if they're only scout swarms, they'll still replicate as they move towards our communication centers.
>>
>>19951870
Hey, not every team member necessarily needs to lead their own company.

The way I would have it, leadership would be sorta shared among the top three, supported by NCOs in the ranks below. So for example, Minaka, Reimu, and Anne are about equal in rank, but Anne would mostly leave the commanding and stuff to the other two.
>>
>>19952210
Well I was thinking just for when we hit the shit gets real stage having units of ranged mahou shoujo supporting units of melee would be more useful than sending out three man teams
>>
>>19952282
At that point, yes, that would likely be better. That's still months away, though.
>>
>>19952426
>>19952282
>implying we can't send out teams and the rank and file.
I think our current strategy is to use the army for base defense, defense of the communication relays, civilian evacuation, containment, and assistance in attack while the team(s) take it out, and I don't see how that should change much as things get tougher.

Also, I'll say it again, we should keep the army a generic mass, that's alright at everything, for the sake of everyone's sanity.
>>
So, to try and combine some of this organization stuff...

Hierarchical bullshit aside, we start with teams of three (for example: Minaka, Anne, Reimu and Icarus, Alexa, ???) aiming for a balanced overall combat coverage. In a few months (or whenever all the girls have met the enemy personally) start on combined team exercises in preparation for when we get larger swarms, be it scouts or parts of the main swarm.

I think admin & support should be left to Daedalus and the Firewall crew, with at least one "leader" team at each of the non-Alpha bases. We can use the round table for inter-base meetings between the leader teams.
>>
>>19951227
I would be very surprised if we got 10 at the maximum. He already said he found 475 that fit our standards. If he expanded beyond those thirty cities we could find plenty more.

John said that 12% of girls tested passed both tests, and the city we started in was 1.3% athletic, gene-modded, non-neotenic prepubescent girls. That means we're looking at ~0.16% of the total population. I don't think we've been told what the population of our planet is but 0.16% of Earth is eleven MILLION people.

There are plenty of candidates out there, we're just having difficulty trying to find these civilians and turn them into soldiers. Maybe we should put more than one guy on recruitment so we don't have to take girls who don't meet our standards.
>>
>>19953004
>Maybe we should put more than one guy on recruitment
We already have.
John has already forked himself numerous times in order to be able to run the recruitment drive.
>>
>>19953004
population is 2.7ish billion
>>
>>19953048
So there are about 4,300,000 suitable candidates just waiting for us to Mahou Shoujo them and we're taking in people who don't meet our standards.

>>19953037
Maybe he should fork himself more and do more than thirty cities then. Why hasn't he? If there's a good reason we can find some other people to help him.
>>
>>19953004
It's not one man, though. It's one AI that has already forked himself several times to find enough girls.
>>
>>19952839
Sounds good to me.

It occurs to me we should start work on a couple news releases about the Vonnies, to be ready for when they can't really be hidden anymore. Stuff along the lines of "This is a von Neumann replicator, don't worry we've got highly trained personnel able to take advantage of its weakness dedicated to stopping it, please evacuate if the alarm goes off and don't attempt to fight them yourself, please be aware of the location of your nearest cortical transmitter so you can be transferred to an evacuation ship in an orderly and efficient manner should the need arise."
>>
>>19953092
because people say no? he may have underestimated his numbers too.

I'd rather him just retcon the percentages lower then then add more girls unless we stand a significant chance of failure with the current the plan.

the other girls are just redshirts like READS said.

>>
>>19953127
He didn't estimate any of his numbers, they're the percentage of people he tested that passed. The only one he estimated was that 50% of people would accept, and that still leaves us two million.
I don't want to add more girls, I just want the ones we're recruiting to be above minimum instead of relaxing our standards.
>>
>>19953181
I mean the human behind the DM, not the character
>>
>>19953200

Time is a bigger constraint than people. He has not tested every possible candidate in the cities, because ARglasses, especially new models, are a bitch to produce, and if he siphons off too much production capability, people will notice and wonder why.

To avoid a panic, we want the public to know as late in the game as possible.
>>
>>19953232
We could use other tests, you know.
