"Sometimes I think I should have taken up the harp rather than the sword. That man eats as well as I do, sleeps as well as I do (with far less burden on his conscience) and only has to worry about men with swords if he beds his patron's daughter."
>>
>>19959122

Say good night and go to sleep we really need to move to trial.
>>
>>19959166

You're probably one of those guys who kept playing it up with Veronica. Let us at least spend some time with both women.
>>
>>19959159
This, if only because I'm the one who came up with it.
>>
>>19959181

OK ok, I just really want to get to the trial.
>>
>>19959201
Isn't trial just going to be "Do you wished to be hanged or shall you take the black."
"MY WIIIIIIIIIiiNNNNNEEE I would have gotten away with it too if it wasn't for those meddling lordlings and their raven too!"
Then a sshort drop with a quick stop.
>>
>>19959201

Hah, last thread I stayed up so late just hoping to get a chance to talk to Dalyna at the party. Ended up getting 3 hours of sleep before work and we ended with reading what Paxter gave us. Still worth it.
>>
You walk with Dalyna, talking about the feast as you escort her to her room. She is laughing by the time you get to her door. Trying to bring up the issue of her favor, she just smiles and puts a finger to your lips. "No, the favor is for your good luck. Keep it until this business is completed tomorrow." She leaves you, smiling, in the hall as she slips into the room.

>Ready for the next day?
>>
>>19959228
Well for Lord Clawwater it'll be just a straight execution, we might not even have to throw our mountains of evidence at it, but we can if needed.

For Damien and Brandon we'll offer them the black and hopefully they'll be smart enough to take it.
>>
>>19959265

*sigh*

sure
>>
>>19959265
Let's Go!
>>
>>19959265
Onwards!
>>
>>19959265
Very well. We shall sleep on a proper bed instead of on a ship. Then we shall rise early to help issue forth justice.
>>
>>19959300

sounds excellent.
>>
>>19959283
Don't worry. We have plenty of time to romance the girl after we exile some guys.

The next day, you are awoken early by Terris. He has arms lain out for you, A simple suit of black is waiting for you, with a simple blue shirt underneath. You want to be imposing, and not flashy. You want to convey power and authority, not wealth or prestige. The simple black of your house should serve. You throw a simple chain of silver around your neck, and belt your sword around your waist. You also ensure that a short knife is in your boot and that the dirk on your belt is razor shape.

You break your fast in your room, on a mug of beer, several fried eggs with Dornish peppers, a blood orange, and several fatty strips of bacon. You double check your appearance in the mirror... While the image might be lessened by the ragged, shaggy section of hair on the left side of your head (that roughly covers the scar from the joust), you find yourself pleased with how you look.

>Ready to do this?
>>
>>19959379
Yup. Lord Redwyne should be taking point, fortunately; we just need to be ready to be called on if necessary.
>>
>>19959379
We must not smile throughout the trial, it is a solemn event to condemn a former ally.
>>
>>19959379
Make sure everything looks right, worry for a tiny bit about the impending trial, mentally review the evidence we have just in case it is needed.

Then take a deep breath and head to court.
>>
>>19959379
Dunno. Do the Lannisters pay their debts?
>>
>>19959411

Yes, but contrary to popular belief, Tywin Lannister does not shit gold
>>
>>19959442

Is Tywin still the hand?
>>
>>19959442
Lord Dustain Karban on the other hand...
>>
>>19959457
There were recent rumors that he got ousted, as I recall, so no.
>>
>>19959467
Still doesn't shit gold. But he makes an awful lot of it and unlike Tywin he isn't a dick.
>>
>>19959467
No no, Karban just needs to snap his fingers. Much more dignified. Have to remember to use the left hand though, the right one drops women in our lap.
>>
>>19959457
Yep.

Walking into the room, you realize what a big fucking deal Paxter has made out of this. Lords and ladies surround the room, thick around the edges like some kind of well-bred, gold bedecked grime that you try to polish off a tile but that gets caught around the edges. Sitting at a table near the back of the room, There are three chairs. Lord Pason sits in the center chair, with Paxter immediately on your right. On Lord Redwyne's left is Lord Merryweather.

Merryweather has an immaculately shaped beard that is as angular as his jaw. His eyes are small and cold, but his face is impassive. He seems almost out of place near the two Redwynes... But as Lord Pason's primary bannerman, he is an obvious choice. As you take a place near one of the central pillars (this is going down in a small chapel so that the Seven may sit in judgement), you nod at Lord Portain across the room. He is there, similarly dressed as you: muted cloths in his house colors, and little in the way of finery. He has a broadsword on his hip, and he looks dour. With a cry, a guard calls everyone to attention: a small honor guard marches the three Clawwater men into the chamber and sits them down, on their knees, in front of the lords.

This guy.
>>
Merryweather... we don't know much about him do we? We're likely to be rivals for Paxter's favor going forward, so be on your toes around him. Also be friendly, because there's nothing that makes lords happier than lesser lords working together and not fighting each other.
>>
>>19959500 Cont.

Lord Pason stands from the table. His face is, for the most part, unreadable. If anything, he looks bored and slightly tired. His voice fills the room, rebounding off the walls. "You all stand accused of treason, insurrection, smuggling, theft, and the evasion of tax. You all know your rights here, and you will be judged in the light of the Seven, as befits your former station. If you are proven guilty, you will be reinstated with all lands and titles. If, however, you are found guilty? You will die, and may the Seven have mercy on you.:

He sits rather heavily. Lord Paxter stands, and looks at them. "We will start with witnesses and evidence, and then you may plead your case and call other witnesses.... Lord Portain?"

Turning to walk, he gives you a nod. The next hour (or abouts) is the tale of the smuggling, as told through Portain's efforts and the information discovered by his agents.
>>
*HIS* agents? Oh Portain, say it ain't so!
>>
>>19959597
What, you thought he didn't have agents? He was working in parallel with us. We'll get called up next, probably.
>>
>>19959568
Typo, you said guilty twice.

I hope they don't ask for a trial by combat.

So we're up after Portain?
>>
>>19959568
>If you are proven guilty, you will be reinstated with all lands and titles. If, however, you are found guilty?
I HAVE to call this one.
Surrender and die Clawwater!
>>
>>19959568
>>19959500 Cont.
After Portain, a man named Holmes speaks for half an hour. He is a sergeant for the City Watch of Oldtown, and was present for the arrest of Bhaarissio. He details all of the information Bhaarissio surrendered under interrogation, the evidence collected, and the sentence for the Tyroshi: beheading.

After the watchman leaves, Paxter quietly confirms with his father, before calling for the next witness. "Lord Dustain Karban, please come forward to make your accusation in the light of the Seven and before all your peers."

>Wat say? How should we order our information? Should we be a bit thematic?
>>
>>19959627
Apparently, I has a retard.

Sorry folks. It can be a difficult time ordering all the pre-typed shit.
>>
>>19959641
Start right from the start, and go in chronological order.
Confirm the parts where ours and Portain's stories match.
>>
>>19959641
Lay out everything we discovered, covering the identities of our unique sources, in as much detail as we can, should we mention the wildfire?
>>
>>19959641

No need to gloss anything or try to make an impression, he knows the full length of our contribution already. We tell him what we did, we tell him what we found. This is just presenting cold evidence, not setting the stage.
>>
>>19959641

Start from the beginning and be as methodical as possible. No need for theatrics.
>>
>>19959641

We should probably start from the beginning how there was a siting of ships near our city by local fisherman, and from there we enlisted the help of Lord Portain as we we found the cove was on his lands and had a joint raid on the outpost there. We found a Sergeant who gave us information on a man called the "Mad Maester" who was proven to be nothing more than a name and costume for Damien Clawwater to make the men more agreeable to his orders.
>>
>>19959641

Explain how our agent discover how Fat Jon was stealing the wine and where it was been taken. How we intercept the delivery and arrest everyone involve and how they gave clawwater name. And how we fond the wine below the clawwater castle.
>>
>>19959641

Start from the beginning, don't skip too much. Be a little thematic. We want the other lords to realize just how much Portain and Karban did. Finally we should make sure we mention the insanity in the Clawwater parents, and how they lead their children down the wrong path.
>>
>>19959641

Order it chronologically. Present just the facts in a logical, dispassionate manner.
>>
>>19959701

My memory is a little hazy, but i think we also learned of Bhaarissio from the sergeant who was summarily hanged, after that we got into contact with him, and setup a deal to purchase several casks of wine, while acquiring the casks we also saw the accused Damien Clawwater in the Tyroshi's own base of operations.
>>
>>19959696should we mention the wildfire?

No, that's on only need to know basic.
>>
Man i should have read over the threads for this trial mang.
>>
>>19959641
Start from the beginning, chronological order. Going after the original smuggling camp. Having our agents investigate things. Us visiting Oldtown, say we suspected that they had to move the wine somewhere like there in order to sell it, to make us loom more proactive. How we saw Damien Clawwater there.

Then we send more agents out to investigate things, found a central town of their operation, rode down and captured integral men of the operation like Fat Tom, interrogated them and confirmed it was Damien Clawwater, also known as the Mad Maester, and then we went to Clawwater for the war.

Then we can talk about the record books we found, don't mention the Wildfire, how Lord Clawwater openly admitted to it in front of us and our men.
>>
>>19959696
I'm strongly against mentioning the wildfire. Firstly, it wasn't actually illegal just incredibly dangerous. Second, we're in a room full of witnesses and we hardly want this to become common knowledge.
>>
>>19959754

yah and we still have to blow something up with it eventually.

hello lannisport.
>>
>>19959766
Why Lannisport?
>>
>>19959814

Because Joffrey comes from there. And Cersei.

Like I need a reason.
>>
You start speaking in a cold, detached manner, starting at the very beginning.

From your fishermen who discovered the scooners, to the battle at the camp and the interrogations with Portain, to Bhaarissio and the discovery of Damien in the caverns underneath the villa. You talk about Fat Tom and his secret little fraternity of thieves, everything he admitted in confession, and then what learned from the mouths of the Clawwater family themselves. When you are done speaking, most of the audience just remains silent. Even if no one else had spoken, you feel that your testimony, which took over an hour to tell, would damn them all.

What follows next is just the icing on a very, very bad cake. Fat Tom speaks, as does Iylaria and Ser Cordwayner who discovered the Arbor Gold in the tunnels underneath the keep. At the end, the amount of evidence is just damning.
>>
>>19959827
Joffrey was born in Kings Landing. I think.
>>
>>19959853
I think if we take out King's Landing that Cersei and Robert might not end up married. Assuming that the rebellion even succeeds at that point.
>>
>>19959876
It would be exactly what Mad King Aerys wanted. Good god the wildfire we have in combination with the staches already hidden throughout the city...
>>
>Hire an artisan glassworker or some artist that works with metal
>Craft hollow arrows which the shaft screws in.
>Hire master alchemist
>Have him pour wildfyre into arrows and attach the shaft
>keep arrows stored in small quantities, heads in pots of sand
>Literally rain fire on our enemies.
>>
>>19959896
I meant to say Lannisport, but burning Kings Landing and setting off the caches would seriously fuck with history. Wildfire and well directed poison are the two best tools for derailing canon.
>>
>>19959829
It isn't over until the mid-afternoon. Lord Pason looks tired, and like he is just eager to get this done with so he can return to bed.

After the last witness has been called, he stands. "I believe we have heard enough here. I am prepared to render judgement, and I believe the other judges are as well." Merrywind agrees, and Paxter just nods.Lord Redwyne continues. "Very well then. I declare each and every one of you guilty. The sentence for such a list of crimes is easy - death. On the morrow, you shall all be brought to the Coldwater gate, and there you shall lose your head." Both of the other judges murmer "I assent," and the business is done. A murmer goes up from the crowd.

As the prisoners are led forth and the crowd begins to leave, you feel... Empty. Like this result should have left you feeling elated. Instead, you just feel that it was inevitable. You shurg, and go to get a glass of wine.
>>
>>19959963
Wait I thought we were going to give the boys a chance to choose the Wall? Did we miss an opportunity to speak up when we gave our evidence?

In either case, I'm not that bothered. They were traitors after all, even if it was a family business.
>>
>>19959963
Welp. I'd have wanted the youngest, at least, to take the black... but our lord has spoken, and we will not argue it. His will be done.
>>
>>19959946

As for the rest of the day... What do?
>>
>>19960008

>i'm not bothered, they were filthy traitors

oh /tg/.

>>19959953

I hate to meta, but that would be fucking awesome. Though Karban has no reason right now to start plotting the sacking of King's Landing, we'll have to hold onto it for now and wait until we have a good reason to use it. Btw we keep the whereabouts known only to us unless Paxter specifically requests it. Spoils of war gents, Spoils of war.
>>
welp so much for the wall
>>
>>19960026
Would now be the time to bring up the subject of the daughters to the Lords Redwyne?
>>
>>19960026

See if Paxter and Portain want to grab food? Maybe find the Clawwater girls and give them some sympathy? There is always the fallback of finding Dalyna/Veronica and talking but I don't think Karban would be in a flirting mood after that.
>>
>>19960026
Chill, bro it up with portain, ask crane if he's figured out who his admirer is yet.
>>
>>19960026
As long as the various lords of the Arbor are all gathered around here, we should call on the ones that we haven't met socially before we leave. We're going to becoming an increasingly major lord, and that means knowing our neighbors and establishing good relations if at all possible.
>>
>>19960026
Let's have a talk with Lord Pason Redwyne. He said yesterday he wanted to discuss our efforts in full. This seems like as good a time as any.
>>
see what your squire is up to.
>>
Heading back to your quarters, you bump into Ser Crane, who is munching on an apple while walking across one of the outer walkways. He falls in step near us, inquiring as to the results of the trial, and what is to befall the Clawwaters. When you tell him death, he just nods sagely.

"I cannot say I am surprised, my lord. We had as much as the Gods could imagine on them. They hadn't a roses chance in winter."

>Roll 4d6 for perception
>>
Hmm.... let's go talk to Pason. See if Merryweather shares the opinion of his asshole knight after that, then cheer ourselves up by getting someone to show us around the city.

Heading towards the central keep, you poke Ser Crane in the neck. "Don't think I don't notice that, Martin. Who was the lass?" He pulls the collar on his shirt up. "My lord, I haven't the faintest idea what you mean. It must be a bruise from the battle. I am lucky my gorgut is made of steel."

>Wat say?
>>
>>19960205
Did you match the girl to the letter?

"Oh, there was a battle since the feast? I wonder how I missed it. Fiercely fought, no doubt, against an unrelenting and passionate foe."

Snicker.
>>
>>19960205

"I didn't know that sweet young girls were passionately attacking us during the battle. If that were the case I would never stopped my days as a hedge knight."

>>
We snicker and jape, which only makes him adjust his collar more. "Say what you will. I haven't the faintest idea." You part ways near the keep, you heading up the stairs towards the main tower, him heading towards the wing with your quarters. He starts whistling "A Rain of Red" on the way, the cheeky bastard.

You head through the welcome rooms, making your way towards the side stairs that will enable you to avoid most of the crowds and servants.

>we are going to Lord Pason, right?
>>
>>19960372
Yep
>>
>>19960372
If Lord Parson wanted to see us, wouldn't he just call us up? I mean, we did see him at the feast yesterday.

I suppose it wouldn't hurt to drop in. He likes us well enough that he wouldn't mind it.
>>
>>19960372

I think so if that's not too presumptuous of ourselves to call on lord Redwynne, after that i suppose most people want to talk to dalyna. We should do that or meet the Rowans and Merrwinds after.
>>
>>19960372
I'm happy for him, though I'm still left with the question of how in hell she reached that high. He's a tall knight, probably around 6 feet tall and she's around 5 feet tall.

Yes to visiting Pason, he said he wanted to talk to us about things.
>>
>>19960408

With Pason (where I assume we're advocating giving the boys the option of the Wall) I think we should also argue that the Clawwater girls, who have been through a fair bit, be given the chance to see the boys. It's probably the last time they will.

On top of that, being there for them will do us favours in the long run.
>>
You climb the stairs towards the upper rooms, waving at some of the guards as you climb. Lord Pason's rooms are near the very top of the tower, and it takes more than a while to get there.

Emerging from another stairwell to see the large doors of cherrywood and the bands of polished brass, the guards open them as you walk forward, and you find yourself in a surprisingly small and comfy solar.

The room is roughly circular, with several large, stuffed chairs, a few low tables, and a nice hearth that glows with the light of embers. Lord Pason emerges in a few moments, clutching a thick book as he shuffles over. You can see he is wearing your Lysean slippers. "My boy, what brings you all the way up here? Do you wish to talk about the trial?"
>>
>>19960474
Well sir when a knight loves his lord's daughter very much...

Hahaha no. "My lord, I'd like to speak with you about the Clawwaters. I've no doubt the boys will take the black, but the girls will have no place to go. I've a suggestion if you'd hear it: my father's lands are in the Riverlands on the mainland..."

"Also the girls should be given permission to see their brothers."
>>
>>19960516

This. Try to emphasise that you think the Lord Clawwater is a little touched in the head (and the wife was more than a little). The boys were essentially dragged into by their father. It doesn't change what they did, but it may point to leniency.
>>
>>19960516

whoa whoa, slow down and greet him and make some small talk before we start making demands.

First it's up to them to offer the clawwaters the black, and we should wait before just jumping onto saying the Girls should come with us.

Start with something like 'My lord, at the feast you said you wished to talk to me, was there something you intended to tell me?"
>>
>>19960516
Don't think shipping them off to total strangers halfway to the other end of the 7 kingdoms right off the bat is a good idea.
We could take them as wards at least for a short while.
Also Princess Maker.
>>
>>19960474

My lord I know it should not be my place to say for mercy for the Clawwaters. But it could be a kindness to show a small merry to to the boy, the lad its barely a man. If you were to let him to take the black he may pay for his crime in a better way.
>>
>>19960516
It's rude to tell your lord what "should" happen. Suggest, don't assert.

>>19960474
"If you aren't sick of thinking on the matter by now, yes. And... perhaps, a bit of advice would be appreciated. I spoke with your son about how he plans to reward myself and Lord Portain for our efforts, and it seems that I will be gaining lands much faster than I had anticipated. You have dealt with your banners- who will be my fellows soon, if more senior- for decades, and advice on how to make a good impression and gain their lasting friendship would be a treasure to me."
>>
>>19960474
That among a few other things.

I advocate allowing the boys to take the Black if at all possible and give the girls one last chance to see their brothers.

Their mother was completely mad and their father not completely sane. They were taken into this by their father and while they must be punished I would rather they have a chance to serve the realm.

As for the girls they have suffered enough, I'm not sure if you heard about what their mother tried to do to Stefanie Clawwater. Damien Clawwater when he capitulated the Motte had one request, to ensure his sisters were taken care of, I would like to fulfill that. Take them as wards, and in time if the Reach has too many bad memories for them to send them to my family in the Riverlands where they can live peacefully.

Also we might want to bring up the Wildfire.
>>
>>19960556
You nods as a servant brings mulled wine. "It helps with the pain in my legs, you see." He takes a big gulp, and leans back. "The maesters say that I have an infusion of bad blood, that it must be released so that I will be able to mend. They blame foul vapors in the air... I just say I am old. Old and tired." He takes another sip, and you do as well. It is damn good, and you can feel the spicy heat from it clear out your chest.... You make a note to figure out the recipe.

He puts down the pewter cup, and turns to you. "What brings you to the top of me home? Not a social call, I think. At least, I hope not. I would hate to make you climb all those stairs just to hear me gasp out a few words." You start talking, and tactfully insert your requests. He nods sagely as he listens. "The girls... We must find a place for the girls. I had thought about the younger one, Stefanie... She is of the correct age to be one of Dalyna's ladies. Perhaps such an environment will be good for her. Perhaps it will help heal the pain of the last month. As for the older girl. She must be married off now, or else she will wind up whoring in Ryamsport. I would hate to see such an event befall her. I will look among my knights for a suitable man. Or perhaps one of my bannermen should... I cannot decide."
>>
>>19960594

Leave out the Wildfire, that's our little secret for now with Paxter.
>>
>>19960661

A knight marrying her would be more suiting, she doesn't bring any lands or titles into the deal, but she's decently educated etc, she'd be better suited for a minor knight or something of the sort. Minor houses look for economic/political marriages, and she offers none.
>>
Joke: Well ser, my steel guard has many knightly bachelors in it...
>>
>>19960692
...Honeyhall?

I'm just saying that he's a good lad we know he won't mistreat her.
>>
>>19960734
I don't want either of the Clawwater girls either in our service or married to a lord who might eye our lands as prospective gains. We need her safely married to someone either too far away to think about us, or to someone who is firmly loyal to one of our solid allies. Keeping them too close to their old lands is just asking for trouble.
>>
>>19960661
I can think of few lords who would marry her, she no longer would bring land, prestige or a bonding of two houses.

But many knights would leap at the chance to marry a well educated and rather pretty girl such as herself.

I could even find men among my retinue who could work.

When he is chosen I have a request, that he be kind to her. She's had enough pain.

As for placing Stefanie among Dalyna's ladies, she might very well like that.
>>
>>19960734

the lad's only 15, younger than the girl, and he's only just joined us, it may only be a while before we're making him a steward or captain, let's leave him out of this for a while. Personally i say let's not even bother marrying any of our house with the clawwater daughters, no point. Plus it'll just seem as salt on the wound to the daughters and another bid for any available power to any other houses.
>>
>>19960661 Cont.
"As for the boys? I am disinclinded to offer them the chance... Their father will lose his head, no matter what he crys for on the block. But if the boys swear to take the Black, I will not deny them. The Watch is always in desperate need of good men. Men who know their way with steel, and who have more honor than most of the rapers and murderers who end up there. Perhaps it is the better thing to do, for the realm." You nod, and make noises about his kindness. "Kindness be damned, Karban. They stole from me, and they should hang for it. But the Wall will have a use for them, and their tarred bodies hanging from the wall will only assuage my anger for a moment or two."

When you ask about your fellow lords, he spits. "Be careful of all of them. They all think they should be king, otherwise they would be poor lords. Merrywind is a pompous ass, and Rowan cannot keep ahold of his wife. One Cargill is so old he rots and the other couldn't get a living son out of that fat wife of his. Portain lost a wife out riding, but I would bet he put a quarrel in her, and Bravill would sell his daughter's cunt for a purse of gold. They are all fine men, and all of them are monsters. Such is the price of lordship."
>>
>>19960843
This... holy shit. I think we might need to reclassify our political situation a little bit. Dare we ask what he thinks of us?

And actually, lets ask what he thinks of his children/the Arbor.
>>
>>19960843
holy fuck we just found ourselves with goldmine but I mean wtf
>>
>>19960878

of his children would be very rude imo, Paxter is going to be our lord one day. This kind of re-adjusts our view though of Portain if even Pason thinks he killed his wife...

It seems the Arbor is just as dangerous as King's Landing. I think our #1 priority after this should be investigating the Cargill's and finding out why the murders are happening.
>>
>>19960843

Ask him his advice; he's been candid with us as only very old and sick men can.

How can we sift the good men from the bad? Who do we trust? A new and ambitious lord like ourselves will inevitably piss people off.
>>
>>19960843
Wow, that puts our bro in a different light, but his current wife seems nice and he has always had our back so far so I don't care all that much.

Come to the Arbor, sure it's as schemey as anywhere else but the weather is nice and when someone poisons you they have the courtesy to use good wine.
>>
>>19960878
>Dare we ask what he thinks of us?
I think we do dare ask. Lord Pason is old and steeped in experience- he may just see the worst in everyone, but it's also quite possible that the flaws he sees are genuine and others simply don't mention them.
>>
>>19960843

"And me, my lord what kind of monster am I? Surely I am not the only saint in the Arbor."
>>
Quietly " and what do you think of me, my lord? How does one such as I appear in you sight?"
>>
>>19960843
"And to imagine I was coming to like them. Well, not Old Cargill. He's a bastard through and through. But I think My Lord is far too harsh on the men who serve him. Those who wrong you, like Clawwater, should and will die for it. But for those who serve you faithfully...sometimes a mans trust is more valued than lands."

At this point, and of course there should be discussion about it, I think we should offer to return the lands he promised to grant us on his death. I doubt he will accept the return of the land, but I think we should make this offer to gain both his trust and the trust of his son.

"I have fought alongside your son, in the sweat, blood and shit of the beach landings and the melee by the wall. There is no other lord I would rather bend the knee to. If your son pissed on King Aerys himself and declared the Arbor independent I would stand by his side even as all the armies of the Seven Kingdoms marched upon us. I would not have you think that I serve you, or your son, so for personal gain."
>>
You stopped for a second, gathering your thoughts. Pason glances at you. "You? That is what you were going to ask, wasn't it? You wanted to know what I think of you." He just smiles, and shifts his book to his other knee. "You are an upjumped lord, a killer who is ambitious and won't settle for what would bribe any other prince to loyalty. And that is exactly what I like about you. You are going to grab the Arbor by the throat and drag it behind you... Which means that you will make us all very, very rich. And I would like my grandsons and great granddaughters to be very, very rich."
>>
>>19961029
>>19961021

Well I think my speech falls flat on its face then.
>>
>>19961029

"And it would please me nothing more than to make that happen for my Lord."
>>
>>19961061
Yeah, better abort that one.

>>19961029
Smile. "Well, here's to wealth, then... and hoping I live to fulfill your expectations."
>>
>>19961029

Damn I am going to miss this old man.
>>
>>19961029
"I live to serve, my lord. And if my service is to place riches in the hands of your descendants, well then, I would believe that my duty has been fulfilled.
>>
>>19961021
No need to offer the land back. That was a bribe to serve his son and it might be poor form to try to give it back.

>>19961029
He kinda hit the nail on the head. We're a nice person to our friends and allies, but we are a experienced killer and ambitious to the level that we will trample over people if they're in the way.

I will take great pleasure in seeing your expectations of me come true. To wealth, power and mutually beneficial arrangements.
>>
>>19961029
So he's not worried at all that we're going to end up dragging Paxter into the shit?
>>
>>19961029

You know what it's time for?

Say this

hey, old man. I'm gonna fuck your daughter and marry her. Then throw her panties down on the table.
>>
>>19961087

It's just started mang, we're going to weed out that old git in the Cargill line, and the power of the Arbor will eventually rival the Tyrells.
>>
>>19961029
...Did he just give us permission to hook up with Dalyna?
>>
>>19961021
>we should offer to return the lands he promised to grant us on his death

What why?there is no point in that specially after what he said.
>>
>>19961087
clever wording

this is a cool old man makes me sad when he dies.
>>
>>19961116

Yah why give a gift back when we're steadily on our way to rivaling the merrywinds?
>>
>>19961116
Yeah, I realise that. I *thought* he was going to bring our loyalty into question. Instead he just admired our balls in achieving what we have and our ability to piss gold.
>>
>>19961111
Maybe, or he could be referring to "all of us" as the Arbor as the whole and his descendants benefiting from that. But it could be a tactful way of him saying "Just fuck already".
>>
>>19961140

Let's wait on that until they bring it up, i'd rather not be caught with my pants at my ankles.
>>
>>19961140
I don't see how you're picking that up.
>>
"Live to serve, my foot. You want to rule... Which was why I gave you lands and titles. Otherwise you would have found some way to make it happen anyways and been a pain in my ass along the way. And you will rule well. So relax. Enjoy the hard work you are going to profit from. Just serve my son faithfully, and you shall continue to grow powerful and wealthy."

You take another sip of the wine. "Protect my son. Make my grandchildren rich. Kill any threats to the realm. Do those things and the Arbor will offer up to you all that you could want... Also, do me one small thing. Make sure my eldest daughter's husband does not get himself killed. I don't trust that fool to eat a sausage without choking to death."
>>
>>19961162

Lets not panic or get angry, we knew this was coming from a long time ago.
>>
>>19961162

what. Fuck you old asshole. Throw his daughters panties in his face.
>>
>>19961162
>>19961029
okay i am getting hints perhaps....... if he keeps it their actually hints.

i REALLY like this old man such a cool guy.
>>
>>19961183
I just wanna know who it is.
>>
>>19961162

"It will be done my lord, nary a scratch will come to your son and Lord Tyrell"
>>
Eldest daughter? I'm guessing that means Dalyna has sisters? I'm certain Princely would have mentioned whether Dalyna were engaged or married.
>>
>>19961205
BOOM.

No seriously, do this.
>>
>>19961205

Not Lord Tyrell, he is already marry.

Hightower?
>>
>>19961162
Wait, Dalyna has sisters?

So who is the Lady Dalyna betrothed to?

>>19961192
>>19961221
No, bad, terrible terrible plan.
>>
>>19961227
I think it was a joke. Insinuating that Lord Tyrell is a twit who can't be trusted to put his shoes on properly.
>>
>>19961192
Stop suggesting this.
>>
>>19961192
He has other daughters....
>>
>>19961162
Not Merrywind is it?
>>
>>19961227
It wouldn't be the Tyrells probably, Paxter is already married to Mina Tyrell, though she doesn't seem to come up.

Maybe Highgarden.

I'm guessing Dalyna is a younger sister, so she's still on the table.
>>
I'm pretty sure the eldest Redwynne daughter is married to Mace Tyrell if my memory recalls.
>>
>>19961294
We really, really need to get a full listing of who is married to who in a central database somewhere, or at least a lengthy summary post. This sort of thing is kind of important.
>>
>>19961218
Fuck. Lore abort. Mace married a Hightower. It was the Queen of Thorns who was a Redwyne... Who was PASON'S sister. I fucked those words up. Basically, he was asking you to protect his nephew. I bungled it though, because fuck my brain at the moment.

We assure him that Mace and Paxter will be fine. "If they continue to survive, the Reach continues to be profitable. If we continue to grow our gold, then we continue to live as we always have... Safe and wealthy and powerful." We talk for perhaps half an hour more on less stressful things (the expected harvest, the battle, our new squire) before turning to leave. We still have time to catch Paxter at dinner, which would be good. As we approach the door, the old man's voice raises itself just a little. "Enjoy the islands, Lord Karban. I am quite sure it won't be the last thing my son grants you before your time is done."
>>
>>19961311
Laugh, because it's so very true. "I shall. A pleasure speaking with you, my lord."
>>
>>19961311

Just before leaving, pause for a second as if we thought of another question.

My lord.....we've spoken at length about Paxter and the Tyrells, but what of Dalyna? What do you desire for her?

That should be the most tactful way of implying we might have an interest in her. Much better than throwing her panties in his face.
>>
>>19961341

nah motherfucker, we dont' start a conversation just right then and there as we leave, in the fucking hallway.

Dont' bring up his daughter unless he does, that's called overreaching our boundaries.
>>
>>19961341
We've already talked about this. We have pretty much zero chance of moving in on Dalyana. The fact that we're such a close ally is a reason to NOT let her marry us, they need her to secure other alliances.
>>
>>19961311
Okay, that makes much more sense.

I will, I think the Clawwater's biggest problem was a lack of creativity, I will make them and whatever else your son grants me gleam.

Take care Lord Redwyne, I truly appreciated the honest conversation.
>>
>>19961341
All we really have to do is wait for him to die and then get Paxter to marry her to us. Paxter likes us a lot and isn't terribly practical, it's quite possible that he'll be silly enough to pass up a more advantageous marriage if he knows we're aiming for his sister.

On the other hand, we may or may not actually want that to happen. If we're actually being a bro and looking out for Paxter's interests, we can't marry Dalyna.
>>
>>19961341

he just called us a greedy fuck who gambles for the world.

We would be heavily implying that we want som o that.
>>
>>19961341
>>19961331
I like these. one after the other.
>>
>>19961341

I don't know about that. Lord Redwyne seems like the kind of guy who likes the direct approach. Panties ahoy!
>>
>>19961371
>>19961341

Come on lets ask this may be the last time we speck with the old man.
>>
>>19961372
>>19961367
>>19961361

If we say it in the right tone it could be taken as just wondering for more instructions. The soon to be dead lord is being pretty candid with us and what he wants the future of the Arbor to look like. Why not ask him this?
>>
>>19961402
We could say that since we're already keeping an eye on Paxter and Mace for him if he has any wishes for his daughter.

If we phrase it right it isn't us saying that we want to bang his daughter like a drum, it's us just clarifying everything.

Though honestly he probably suspects that we want to sleep with her, because he knows what we're like.
>>
>>19961423
but that's why he likes us so much.
>>
>>19961423

Lets asking we may never get a chance again.
>>
>>19961341

I like this. I have a feeling this is one of the last times we can talk to the old man, and he's being really open with us. Go for it.
>>
I really don't see us sneaking our true intentions past the wily ol' fuck. Still, if we are going to ask about her we should try to phrase it as tactfully as possible.
>>
Retreating into the hall, you collect yourself for a second... You kinda like that old bastard.

Heading downstairs, you make the great hall as dinner is being served. There is a seat at the high table for you, and you take it as Paxter calls a servant to fill your cup with wine. The meal is a much more relaxed affair than last night, with a simpler course selection and less pomp. However, the flaky fried cod, sweet mashed turnips, and roasted boar ribs are still just as delicious.

Afterwards, the slowly emptying hall finds you sitting near Lord Rowan and his much, much younger wife. He is a tall, thin man with hard eyes. Searching your brain, you remember what Ben told you of Rowan lands. They are fertile, yet hilly with many rocks and small streams. Because of this, many of his smallfolk are herdsmen who tend to goats and sheep. They produce the finest linens in the Arbor, and fish the seas for herring, tuna, cod, seals, smelt, and anchovies. The deep bays on that part of the island also have the finest, fattest eels which the Rowanese have traditionally used in rich wedding dishes for hundreds of years.

>Wat say?
>>
>>19961438
I know, he's rude, blunt, and cynical. But he's honest and he likes that we're an ambitious and highly competent, in many fields, killer.

Seriously we got this position in Saltmouth because we killed the right people and then we dragged the Steel Guard up with us, who consist of a few knights, a few normal but dangerous people and some mad dog killers.

We just have enough charm that most people don't really think of us as anything other than an ambitious upstart or an incredibly nice guy.
>>
>>19961476

comeon princely. A bunch of people wanted to ask him something like >>19961341 Why must you ignore us
>>
>>19961476
Open the conversation with a greeting, some generic compliments, and comments about recent economic developments, focusing on ones which are likely to have positively impacted his lands. We'll roll from there based on how he responds and if his wife participates in the conversation.
>>
>>19961484
I for one think he just made us Gangster. Like 50's gangster.
>>
>>19961476
Damn you 4chan errors.

Well, don't parrot back what Pason said about him. Hilarious as it would be to mock his inability to keep a woman it'd be impolite.

Does he have kids with him?

Talk about lands, administration and other lordy stuff. Say that we are distinctly interested in trying some of his famous eels.
>>
4chan fucked atm?
>>
did anyone get that weird board blip where everything stopped working, or was that just me?
>>
>>19961496

Maybe because it would well and truly fuck us over?

Everyone is just assuming that because our Lord likes the fact we're ambitious and a bit of a rouge he won't have us by the balls for setting our sights on his sister.
>>
>>19961476

Good evening Lord Rowan. Much to my own dissapointment I don't believe we've had a chance to meet yet. How are you enjoying yourself tonight?
>>
>>19961496
Did anyone else just get errored?
>>
Posting seems down at the moment.

I blame the dice.
>>
Can we post again?

The man turns to you. "So you are the young riverlander that Lord paxter is so taken with? It is good to finally meet you, ser. I have heard you aquitted yourself spectacularly on the field, and everyone heard your testimony today at the trial... I am surprised you are so busy. Are your lands so well ordered that you can dash around the Arbor like a braavo? If only I was blessed with such talented help."
>>
>>19961496
Maybe because it was for our own good.

Or maybe it was the breakdown 4chan seems to have gone through. Anyone else get that?
>>
Is anyone getting these?
>>
Duno what happend but 4chan was down for me for some time.
>>
...Did we lose the DM again?

dunno what happend, but my 4chan was down for quite a bit.

hope i did not miss much and this is still going...

to be honest we want to sleep with everything with two legs, and perhaps more...
>>
Is this thing on?
>>
it is now
>>
well 4chan is fixed. do we still have a dm?
>>
>>19961606
Okay, we're back. I think. Everything is working.

I spend little time idle, I can almost always find some matter or another that draws my attention.

As for the ordering of my lands, I have placed a great amount of effort into finding loyal and talented help so that on occasion I can as you put it "dash around like a braavo" and not worry about my affairs at home knowing they are in good hands.
>>
so whats the over/under on Karban somehow getting his wife in a compromising position

Karban could probably pull it off if he tried, especially given what Pason said about not being able to keep hold of his wife and the age difference, but it isn't what we should aim for.

I can't see much benefit from it aside from the immediate gratification. It could also antagonize him and looking at the map he's right next to our new islands. I'd rather stay on good terms with him.
>>
>>19961939
I've been meaning to ask, who the fuck is Dormer and their solitary pixel?
>>
>>19962088
The Dormers of Chaingold. Small house, not that important. They were part of the war council and the men provided for taking down Clawwater. We've met one person from it that I can remember, Ser Dormer, Dustain thought he was a bit of a dick.

Not really much else to say.
>>
Still here hoping Princely shall return to us.
>>
>>19962448
We hope but I believe him to be gone. It has been 3 hours. Damn you 4chan, DAMN YOU!!
>>
>>19962502
I still love you Princely, come back to us!
That or keep doing what your doing, it's cool man.
>>
I have to say, we have some major land boost, and we will have to see about getting more ships and men.

To balance Merrywind at least.
>>
>>19963450
Also we need to figure out what we can do with those lands. Is it possible to became the biggest ship maker of the arbor?
>>
>>19963573
Maybe, but it's iffy.

There are some decent forests on our new islands but I'm sure the mainland of the Arbor has greater forests than these, and I'm not sure if we have a great enough variety of wood for it.

Shipping the wood out to the Islands would be impractical, we'd have to get one hell of a facility set up for people to even consider it as an option.

Getting a drydock is still a good idea, it lets us expand our own navy better, especially with all the experienced sailors there, and having a shipyard there means we can service the Brotherhood better which means more money rolling in.

Maybe if we get that set up we can grow the ship operation more and more.
>>
>>19963631
wouldn't that conflict with saltmouth? Also shipping wood shouldn't be that difficult. I mean, that shit does floats, just tow it around
>>
>>19963725
One shot of bad weather and there goes the timber. It's not a short jaunt across a quiet lake, you'll probably need to secure it more and put it in the ship.

Islands for ship repair and creation, Saltmouth for trade and commerce. Fitting an extensive drydock that fulfills all of the naval ambitions we possess in Saltmouth might be difficult and the circle of water past the Narrows is tailor made for one.

Also we can set them up summer/beach homes on Mermaid's Palace once they start throwing in more trade, consider it incentive to get Ghand and Tarlosa to use us as their port of call.
>>
I'd like to reorganize and expand the fishing and crabbing activities.
Maybe we could create a few oyster and pearl farms. We could take a vacation to visit various coastal places, take notes on what they're doing and compare their methods and ideas, maybe make some relations with distant lords and recruit some people, then come back to make something out of the clawwaer islands.

By the way, we should find another name for those.
>>
Bumpan for great justice!

I guess last night down time, kill the game.
