PRIOR EPISODE: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/19997096/

You awoke in a coffin and dug out. You met your creator, learned a bit about your past, and killed two cougarbeasts.

You are currently in Arizona. There is a grey town made of scrap in your sights, and someone just shot at you with a sniper rifle.

A voice blares through a megaphone.

"Halt and identify your name and purpose or we will fire!" The voice yells. It is female, very determined and somewhat defeated sounding.

"Very well," she says. "You may enter the settlement."

Go on through. Remain aware of the status of the female; she may become agitated if she realizes we are a robot when we get closer. If she doesn't react, that will also tell us something.

Ask Doc if there is a record of this settlement. Thank him for the help.
>>
You inwardly ask Father if there is any record of this settlement. He replies with a negative; there was no settlement here but there was a farm.

You continue through to the settlement while the woman glares at you, noticing the fact that you are a robot. You hear her mutter underneath her breath "what in the world..."

You entire the settlement, which a sign tells you is named 'Cropfield'. Somewhat unsurprising. Everyone outside of their houses goes in and stares at you from the windows. It seems that a robot is a rare occurrence.

"You happened, steel-ass. Your kind happened. They started a war and they finished it with fire. We won, but they broke us like twigs. They killed about 75% of the human population before they simply... fell apart." The man explains.

"Oh no... The fools went ahead and continued with the thought experiments after I buried you!" Father says in your head. You nod grimly.

"And as for a place to stay, you can stay at the Inn. We're gonna have eyes on you 24/7, steel-ass, so don't try any funny junk." He finishes.

"I wouldn't dream of it," You say as you examine the town for any place of use.

There is 12 or so houses within this town center, most of them crammed together or above each other. There is a larger building labeled 'CROPFIELD INN', a building with a bright red cross in a dirty white circle stuck onto the front of it, and a building with a symbol of a wrench on it, labelled "Pete's Salvage"

We got some other guys out here like Gatenya and Ratmules out in the plains, but the latter is rare and the former is just a useful pack animal. Gatenyas will tear your shit, though." He says.

"Well, if you want more upgrades, I'm sure I can work out a deal with hunting the local fauna, as you say. heh." He continues. "It'll be a game. Get me 6 Coulf pelts and I'll see what I can do for you."

"There is no more currency. That's something that the robots did earlier was to destroy all of the minting places and currency they could find to shut down production. Nobody figured out how to barter again and that's what let us get stomped so early. Nowadays everything is traded, and I'm giving you great deals, especially because you're the only person I can sell most of this junk to, which is also why I'm not pissed like everyone else. And even though this is Pete's Salvage, it's more like Pete's Everything. I do the tanning, I do the cooking and butchering, I do everything except give people a place to stay and heal the wounded. And yes, the meat is 100% edible, not that you need it." He says with a friendly wink.

"I can't say that I know of any littler bots you can use. And all the weapons are property of the sheriff, and you know his thoughts on you. You're gonna need to do something real spectacular if you want to get in his good graces." Pete says as you ask him the questions.

You leave the store and go to the Inn. An old looking lady smoking a cigarette sits behind the bar of the combination bar/lobby, and the rest of the lobby is deserted. "Sheriff told us you were coming. He said to give you room and board for a day. One. That's it." She says. Her voice is scratchy and hoarse, as you would expect from a smoker.

Anyway, DO we have any knowledge of that kind?

She pulls out a cracked mirror and you have your first look at yourself. She says "As I'm sure Pete's told you, the local Coulf packs need to be thinned out. Just do that for starters and we'll consider giving you something more... important to do afterward."

You take a good long look at yourself. You can feel memory files open up, but nothing happens internally that you are aware of.

You have a feeling that you know why the Sheriff is antagonistic towards robots, because of the war. You also know instinctively that you do not require sleep or eating or drinking, as your body runs on solar energy and ambient energy in the world around you. Doc has told you while you were skinning the coulfs that your other advancement over the other robots is that you had /the/ most efficient solar generator possible to science. As long as you stay in sunlight for as long as possible during the day, you will usually always have power.

You decide to go and leave the town to go Coulf hunting. You see the Sheriff put a phone away in his pocket, but pay it no mind.

>ACTION?

(Just gonna deny that here, Alphas are normal parts of a pack, like there is an alpha in a pack of wolves, there is an alpha in a pack of coulfs, which are cougar-wolf crossbreeds)
>>
You decide to fight somewhat fairly and decide not to use the opportunity to attack. The Alpha nods at you as it gets back up, and /runs/ at you, blazingly fast, and from the motion you see in its arm, attempting to bat your head off.

Your choice is made to increase to Feedback Pulse lv 2: Now stuns for slightly longer and only uses 9% Energy/use

---

You bust out of your stocks somewhat easily, then grab the leader and deliver a question to her face.

"May I ask what the charges are for my execution? I've done nothing wrong since before coming to, entering this town and leaving it."

She spits in your eye (which slides off your waterproofed frame), and comes in close to whisper something. "It's all bullshit. There is no charges against you, just this Sheriff and this town and their vendetta for something they weren't a part of. It's all a show of good will. But I was about to kill you, and I still have to."

She then knees you in the stomach, but you release a burst of noise once more that stuns the entire crowd. As they recover, holy shit a massive bird dragon comes down behind you on the stage what the fuck.

Oh, okay.

You run as the birdrake breathes its last fire breath, as the acid in its stomach has ran out.

It's a massive explosion. The Enforcer leader gets out of the way in time, but her arm is still scorched. The burnt cloth shows a cybernetic replacement, barely damaged. She winks at you.

You get thrown back against a building but take minimal damage.

She winks at us during the middle of an explosion, okay I can deal.

Distract the beast while the Enforcer pours more shots at it. Rolling for Feedback pulse, directed at the beast.

apologize to the possibly cowering family inside the house you were just hurled through. Inform them the threat has been neutralized, dust yourself off, and slink away to swipe a Ratmule and scare the rest off.
we 'helped' save the town, didnt do it all on our own, at best they'll reduce our sentance to being hurled at a magnet, at worst they'll think we sent the dragon.

LEAVE.

We dont need this town of assholes.

I flip her off. She can't attempt to kill us and then expect everything to be okay just because she's a cyborg freak.

Oh and scan incase the bird is still alive.
>>
>>20010135
It's still up and running.

You take the cable and fashion it into a quick lasso that you send over the birdrake's neck, yanking it down as the Enforcer pours more bullets into it. Within minutes, the beast is done and finished.

"Now then..." The Enforcer says, walking to the Sheriff. She cuffs his hands behind his back and yells this. "Sheriff Kaplin, you are under arrest for endangering the peace and being an accomplice to an attempt at mass murder. We know that's your birdrake, we know you've secretly raised it from a hatchling. You were going to try and set this robot as the bad guy if he won and the good guy if he died, and made yourself look good in either way. You are scum, endangering a citizen because of something they had no part in and that you had no part in either!"

The Sheriff nods and a tear, a single tear of regret, drops down his eye. The Enforcer knows crocodile tears when she sees them, and the axe meets neck.

Well, we probably shouldn't run outta town just yet. Despite the madness, this'd be a good place to set up for now given we got Phil with his salvage to upgrade ourselves with and could probably keep that room at the Inn given we helped save the town.

Figure we could talk to the lead enforcer, ask if Alex may have the Sheriff's hat and duster as a means for disguise/general clothing to wear.

IRegardless of the answer, we do need to take the pelts to Phil. If we get the duster, maybe he can work us up a better cape with two Coulf heads as shoulderpads as we had previously or just add that onto the duster.

The lead Enforcer gestures for the sack of dead coulfs to be brought to Pete's store, and then turns to face you. "Sorry about the ruse, Mister..."

"It's Murphy. Alex Murphy." You say back.

"Right you are then, Mister Murphy. You can call me Delia, and that's all you need to know. We needed to put on that elaborate ruse to get rid of this Sheriff. He's been harboring dangerous animals and training them to go on sieges to relatively nearby settlements, and we needed proof before we could make a move. The report he sent to us was all the proof we needed, and when you busted out as we suspected you would, he called down the birdrake, also as expected. Sorry for leaving you in the dark, but it had to be authentic."

"That's nice and all, but that was kind of dickish. Can I at least take his clothes?" You ask back.

"Since he was trying to kill you real bad, why not. He has no next of kin to claim his belongings." Delia says, handing you his duster, revolver, phone, and hat. You put on the hat and duster, pocketing the revolver and phone. "If you ever need the help of the Enforcers, just give me a ring. We'll be there as fast as possible."

You would say something about being assholes, but thinking back on it, only the Sheriff was openly hostile towards you. The most hatred you got besides that was from the innkeeper and that was only passive-agressive shit.

Pete looks up from the pile of corpses and beams at you.

You spit out a quick "Much appreciated, Delia" before turning to Pete and sauntering over.

Inside, you ask Father his opinion on your appearance. But you don't have a mirror with you right now, so he can't see you. And neither can you.

"Well Pete, I seem to have exceeded your expectations, correct?" You say, as the last Enforcers haul the dead birdrake over to you and then depart.

"Hell yeah! Come in real quick, and I'll give you a little tinkering that you've been asking for." He replies
