You are a Magical Girl, and you're waiting for your flight to be called. You're flying to Siberia - Kamchatka, Siberia, to be precise. All because your mutant cat of an employer thinks that he's found a way to retard your inevitable and downward spiral into insanity, and wants you to look into it.

It bears repeating, of course, that this solution of his has a fifty-fifty chance of working. Fifty percent of actually stopping - or delaying - you turning into someone that needed a concerted effort of three Magical Girls to kill, and with you getting your favorite drinking arm hacked off in the process.

A fifty percent chance of preventing you from becoming a monster that you yourself had to shove ten inches of tempered steel into her spine just to get her to stand still long enough for one of your friends to finish the job. With a sniper rifle usually used to shoot down big game. Or horrifically insane magical girls with golden weapons.

Not very good odds, but it's not as if that's anything new.
>>
I've been waiting for this!
>>
>>20190993

It's nine in the evening. You have a double whisky in your hand and a lit cigarette between your lips, the former half drained of its contents and the latter smoked down to its filter, soon to join its many brothers and sisters in the metal ashtray that you yourself had been busy filling. Behind you is the rather muted hustle of people rushing here and there for their flights, a noise muted even further by the pleasant buzz provided by the generous Mr. Kong and his amber restorative.

Of course, that doesn't mean you're dead to the world completely. Other people at the bar with you had been giving you looks, tutting about being much too young to be busy ruining yourself, but they stopped right after you immediately drained your first double and asked for a refill without missing a beat. They've been completely silent after the bartender - obviously sick of you waving him over again and again - left the bottle of Kong in front of you. Which suits you just fine, really.

Upon your arrival a few hours ago, Misaka had begun to drag both you and Midori all over the place, in her usual effervescence of being curious about normal things and what normal people do. You didn't have that much of a hard time with it, but with Midori loaded down with your luggage - she had gamely volunteered to be the pack mule for the trip, and thus had to contend with carrying three suitcases and one of those things with wheels - you had Misaka slow down enough for you to have the luggage itself taken care of by the airport staff.

[1/2]
>>
>>20191011

They were quite eager to do so, more so when you showed them proper Officio identification. With Midori unencumbered, you put your junior in charge of following Misaka's every whim, while you quietly excused yourself. You were thirsty and you needed to make some calls, you told Misaka. Midori seemed about to say something then, but shut her mouth and simply nodded.

"Kyuubey-san did say our flight won't be for a while, so we'll just kill some time exploring, Matsuda-sempai." She said instead, smiling. "I'll take care of Misaka-chan. You go and do what you have to do."

You blinked at her and could only offer a nod in return just before she got dragged away by Misaka, the arms dealer insisting that she get an audience with the enginseers responsible for keeping the 'huge flying coffins' aloft, and how they should hear her theories regarding the outdated engines still in use. You manage to shout at them that you'll just call them when your flight is ready, and Midori flashed you a thumbs-up in response.

You found the bar a few minutes after that, and you've been drinking ever since.

Your smartphone is in front of you, on the counter.

You should probably get to making those calls, eh?

[]Call Mami.

[X]Call Iori.

We kinda fucked it up last time we talked. Let's try to set things right.
>>
Hmm... Calling Iori so soon might lead to another break down. Calling Mami and asking her to look after Iori is probably a safe bet, but I'm also curious about trying to ring Madoka again or seeing what the ??? number on the cellphone is.

Going with [X] Call Mami for now.
>>
[x]Call Mami.

We need to give Iori some time to calm down. She's probably still upset.

[X]Call Iori (Then Mami if we have the time to)

I'm sure she'll be mighty pissed at us, but we need to apologize a little bit, or at least be a bit nicer. A few good words in now will let Iori mull it over, and realize our reasons for being incredibly blunt before.

Then call Mami, ask her to cheer Iori up with some of her pancakes, the only comforting we really know.

"Mami, you've got to help Iori. It's urgent. They... They've been feeding her inferior pancakes."
>>
Yes! Made it in time for MGNQ.
I didn't actually want to sleep anyway.

[X]Call Mami.

Iori's pissed at us, no point in a public screaming match over the phone.

>>
>>20191020

I honestly don't think calling Madoka would achieve anything but why not, let's give it a go.

>>
>>20191130

>>I honestly don't think calling Madoka would achieve anything but why not, let's give it a go.

It's just something I've been curious about since thread 1. We finally got around to giving Madoka a call at around thread 22 or so but, as you said, nothing came of that as she was out of reception range, or something?

I'm still curious about that, but trying to do some damage control probably takes priority so I'm going with "Call Mami"
>>

Technically, it really doesn't matter one way or the other. Romaji renditions of Japanese words are a godawful hacked-together abomination in the first place, and most Japs pronounce that particular word halfway between the two, anyway.
>>
>>20191178
Still, it's technically incorrect and it has been bugging me.

>>
[X]Call Mami.

To Iori, send an SMS maybe, but definitely DON'T call her. An "I'm sorry" note should be enough for now.
>>
>>20191187
Technically it is pronounced for with an M than N but it is written with an N.

I did exchange in Japan for my second last year in Japan and half of what they say doesn't properly match how they spell it.

And ibb4 weeaboo it wasn't an animu / weeaboo thing I got put into Japanese classes as part of my schools languages other than English program and just kept going because it was an easy class and then going to another country for a year sounded kick ass.
>>
>>20191233

We've been over this. We've said sorry for everything we actually have to apologise for.

>>
>>20191241
I know. But it's not about being sorry, at all. It's about dealing with a bratty (and rich) teenager who will probably do (very) stupid things while we're far from her. Just send her something that makes her expect a better disposition from us when we get back.
>>
>>20191241
Except we haven't because we went in there and directly ignored the reason why she was mad and instead focussed on the reasons we were mad at her and went full professional.

That was why it became such a shitstorm last time because we had two sides who disagreed on that point.
>>
>>20191252
I never denied being weeaboo.
I did deny that going to Japan was a weeaboo thing because it wasn't at the time.

Now since my power level has grown I kick myself for not going full weeaboo while there.
>>
>>20191268
And we still disagree. Who'da thought.
>>
>>20191265

Eh. I know a lot of the slavic languages aren't too bad about that. Polish, in particular, is always written precisely as it is pronounced.

The tricky bit being the pronunciation for each letter is not exactly as it is in english.
>>
>>20191267
That's a terrible reason to waste a track record of genuine apologies on.

If we apologise for everything that makes the brat a bit pissy, then it devalues our genuine apologies when we actually do fuck up.
>>

We can just send her a 'check out me in Siberia' postcard when we get there. Something nice and awkward. Shows we care, without us ever actually having to interact with her, and we won't have the chance to screw things up even more.
>>

You pluck the spent cigarette from your lips and grind it out on the ashtray you've filled to capacity and then some - the bartender taking it away with a grunt of slight disgust and sliding an empty one at your direction. You would probably have something to say about that, except you're much too busy dialing Mami's number into your smartphone with one index finger. Doing it carefully, slowly, so that you wouldn't dial someone else's number by accident.

You look down at the phone's glowing screen as it initiates the call. You pick it up off the counter as the other end of the line starts to ring. Once, twice, and it's then that Mami picks up, her voice still rather stiff and polite as she greets you, but warmer. Definitely warmer than the icy tones she spoke in when you went in for your debriefing after murdering Kirika.

Her saying your name again without making it sound like an insult makes you feel just a bit better about yourself, a small smile curling your lips. You ask her how she's doing.

"I was just on my way out of the office, actually. I heard from Kyuubey that you're flying to Siberia with Misaka-chan and our new Callidus - and I'm going to see all three of you off." You hear the crinkling of tissue paper in the background. "And since airline food is disgusting, I made sure to make packed dinners for all three of you. No sense in having you and Misaka-chan forcing down that garbage during a long trip, you'll be sick."

Is it too late to get Mami instead?
>>
>>20191311
While that is a valid point, I maintain that the chances of it occurring are so low as to be a nonfactor. We've gotten her all paranoid about creepy things offering her faustian bargains, after all.

Besides which, if Pinky was determined to gild her up, I doubt that what we do will matter either way.
>>
>>20191305

That's...that's really great. More than you could expect, really. You thank her after a few moments of being stunned into silence. That's Mami for you.

"How about you, Chiaki-san? Did you take care of everything?" Mami's tone of voice turns a bit furtive. She isn't saying it out loud, but you know what she means. "You're going to be away for quite a while, you know. You should at least make sure your affairs are taken care of before leaving."

She clears her throat.

"Iori-chan called me, earlier. She's...devastated, to say the least. What did you say to her, Chiaki?"

You knock back half the contents of your glass. It's going to be a bit hard lying to someone like Mami.

This makes me wonder about Iori's background in the quest. It's never really been stated, has it? She works as an idol, yeah, and obviously has a fair amount of money from that. In im@s her family was already loaded and she only became an idol as a way to get her parents attention, but something tells me it isn't going to quite be the same here, if we ever get to see it.

We were not wrong when we didn't say sorry about inducing orgasms in other magical girls while on the phone with her. It was a stupid thing to do, but not something she was justified in being upset about, given she is not, despite her best attempts, in a relationship with us.

You close your eyes for a moment before replying. Lying to Mami is something that you don't think you would be able to ever do - and you don't. Not here, not now. If being honest gets her angry at you, if being honest gets her to hate you just a bit more than she already does - that's fine, but so long as she hates you for the right reasons, not for the wrong ones.

You open your eyes after your explanation, bracing yourself for reaction. There's a moment of silence, before you hear Mami sigh. When she replies, her voice is somewhere along the lines of disappointment and relief - and you wonder if this is one of your drunken hallucinations or if things are actually starting to look up for you.

"That's...that was actually kind of you to do, Chiaki-san." Your flaxen-haired goddess of luck and comfort and victory says, and for some reason, she sounds apologetic. "I've noticed Iori-san's slight...infatuation with you, and I may have unfortunately encouraged it a bit." Another sigh. "I thought it was just a harmless crush, but if she's reacting in this fashion, she may have decided that things should be a bit more involved between the two of you. So you did the right thing, as painful as it may have seemed." It's then that you hear a smile in her voice. "I'm...proud of you, Chiaki-san. You could have just strung her along and spared her feelings, but that would've made things worse in the long run. This is good for her. And you."

You did something right for once. That's a surprise, and an achievement, considering your track record.

If that's the case, then why do you feel so damn horrible about it?

You agree and thank her. You also remind her to be careful driving.

"I always do. Goodbye, Chiaki-san, and make that your last drink, alright?"

You blink at the glass in your hand. You didn't actually tell her you were drinking, did you?

You try to ask her how she knew, but she disconnects the call before you could. You shake your head, smiling ruefully, and twist the cap back on the bottle of whisky before giving it back to the bartender. Mami's orders.

>>
>>20191868
Exactly. You don't hook up with the crazy. Ever.
>>
>>20191880

No. That is a secret we must take to our grave, or at least until Mami gets an explanation of the events that set all of this Iori stuff into motion. The circumstances surrounding that discovery are linked to a very delicate situation. Once it has been dealt with and everything's out in the open, we can use it as a bargaining chip.
>>
>>20191882

But we ARE the crazy.
>>
>>20191868

She seemed mentally healthy before the otaku showed up, so she'll probably get over her clinginess given time.
>>
>>20191901

EXACTLY
>>
>>20191897
We already are using it as a bargaining chip. To open an avenue of friendship with Sayaka. Mind blowing orgasms won't fail to make her better disposed towards us, and we could use someone like her in our circle of fembros. Consider it part of the Make Chiaki Mastuda A Better Person Program.
>>
>>20191897
How do you if it is even a secret?
>>
>>20191927

The actual mechanics of the act probably aren't, particularly.

The secret bit is that we totally did it to Midori, which is what got us into this trouble with Iori in the first place.
>>
You know, I think it would be a good idea to get a newspaper.
>>
>>20191922

I just think it might not be prudent to reveal this information until everything with Iori is cleared up. It would probably make Sayaka feel better disposed toward Chiaki, but nobody knows about this quite yet; if we start revealing all this information about Soul Gem shenanigans before we give the truthful explanation to someone reliable such as Mami or even Kyoko, then it will reinforce the false perception that Chiaki was fooling around with another girl while Iori was working herself up into a hysterical frenzy over Chiaki's safety. Which is something we do not want to do.
>>
>>20191905
Except we are both the crazy!
>>
>>20191944

Valid point. Put the text together, send it after we have talked with Mami, once she has arrived to see us off.
>>
>>20191949

And only a crazy person would hook up with the crazy. Therefore, Iori is our waifu.

That's logic, you can't argue with that.
>>
>>20191944
I agree. Just the photos, nothing more.
>>
>>20191944
We'll just have to tell her to keep quiet about it. Nobody else but Kyoko and Sayake need to know about this, and Kyoko herself can just keep believing that Sayaka came up with the idea on her own. Plus it's not like these keep babbling to everybody about what they do in the bedroom. Kyoko even stated to be uncomfortable talking about it.
>>
>>20191966
This guy brings up a good point we can even say that we learned about it while experimenting with our soul gem.
>>
>>20191966
>>20191977

We don't need to weave a web of deception when there is no good reason to do so. Getting more chummy with Sayaka would be an improvement, but we stand to lose so much if we do so in this way. It will be safer to do this once we get everything cleared up with Mami and Iori.

Also seconding getting a newspaper to read on the flight.
>>
>>20191977
Yeah, I can think of a way to justify that.

Not intentionally, no. But the fact that everyone DOES know, kind of means that things get out.
The two of them are good fighters, and Kyouko is even a good friend. But they're both a little stupid when it comes to not mentioning things.

Even Chiaki, as her socially-addled self, was able to get Kyouko to let slip some things before she clammed up.

With that call ending on a better note than you expected, you feel a bit obligated to be just as nice to one of your other colleagues. Paying it forward, or at least that's what you remember Mami calling it when she explained the concept to you. Doing nice stuff for other people just because someone else did the same to you - not something you'd probably take up as a hobby, but you can certainly do worse by the very few people in the world you call friends.

You open up your Pictures folder and select the only one inside it: the picture of Sakura Kyoko in the butler costume, with her turned slightly away from the camera to conceal her eyepatch while showing off her rakish ponytail. It's a good picture, you think as you look at it a bit more closely. Kyoko turned away from the viewfinder makes her look sternly aloof, like those male idols teenage girls can't stop screaming about - and the costume does complete the illusion of masculinity.

You find yourself laughing slightly as you send the picture to Sayaka. You briefly consider telling her about the thing with the soul gem and the licking through an enclosed SMS message, but you think that might go down better during a call.

Not ten seconds has passed since you sent Kyoko's picture to her girlfriend did your phone vibrate slightly on the countertop. The screen lighting up, notifying you of the blue-haired Eversor trying to establish a call with you.

You pick it up immediately. No sense in making her wait.

[1/2]
>>
>>20192078

"Murderface?" Sayaka's voice is...strange. Nothing weird, but she sounds as if she's out of breath, somehow. "I...I got the picture. Do you have any more of these? I-If you don't, can you tell me where you got the costume? I..." The Eversor swallows audibly. "...I need that costume. Don't hold out on me, Murderface."

Whoa. What the hell kind of relationship does these two have?

How do you respond?
>>
>>20192082
Tell her that Mami picked it out, so that she should call her. Mami probably even remembers the sizes, or can at least call up the store to get the sizes.
Just don't bother calling Mami now; she's driving to the airport.

I honestly have no idea. But Mami probably does; however, she is preoccupied at the moment hauling some home-made lunches over to the airport.

If you really wanted to know right now, you might try to see if the infirmary still has the suit that Kyoko was wearing when she arrived there. You could look up the brand name and everything. I wouldn't advise it though; they probably discard clothes like that real quick in the "biohazard" pile along with used needles and bloody rags.

Alcohol in the air circulation systems.

>>
>>20192423
Hm, low pressure means the alcohol evaporates faster/more. But how does that make it effect you more, thinning(sightly) the blood?

>>
>>20192444
I think it means more alcohol gets into your blood because it is already broken down into smaller units somewhat
>>
>>20192454

Also the fact that even the best airplane food is ok/small portions. Less food in your system means the alcohol will affect you more.
>>
>>20192454

>>
>>20192444
>>20192454
Lower blood pressure means less blood is being circulated through your body. Therefore, any alcohol in you mixes with a smaller amount of blood. Makes a higher blood/alcohol ratio due to lower amounts of blood.
>>
>>20192494
I actually meant the idea that the alcohol is in vapor form

It would bypass the usual defenses of the stomach and get right into the bloodstream wouldn't it?

You take a sip of your chilled soda before replying, wincing slightly at the change of temperature of your choice of drink. You tell Sayaka something that you should have told her a long time ago - to stop calling you by that stupid nickname, and to address you properly. Chiaki Matsuda's not that hard to pronounce, is it? Of course it doesn't roll off the tongue as nicely as Murderface does, but at the very least, she won't have to worry about bystanders looking at her strangely when she gets a call from you in public.

"...Alright. Alright, fine. Whatever. Chiaki Matsuda. There, you happy now? Great. Butler costume. Where did you get it and who do I have to kill to get it made for Kyoko again? They had to cut the one she was wearing, and--"

You shake your head at your colleague's complete lack of manners, and it's then that you give her what she wants. You tell her that Mami should know exactly where the butler costume had been bought, and chances are the shop should still have the measurements to make an exact replica. It's also then that you give her a bit of advice that you're sure that would make her relationship with Kyoko a bit more interesting. OF course, you make certain that it's carefully-worded enough that it doesn't reveal just how you discovered it.

Yeah, you told her about the soul gem thing.

"...What? What are you talking about?" Sayaka's voice is tinged with confusion. "You dropped your Soul Gem into some booze, and then you tried to lick it clean? What happened then? Murderf--er, Matsuda? What happened?"

Your only response is silence as you wait for her to get it.

"...Oh. OH." It takes her a few seconds to arrive at the conclusion you want her to. "Uh...I...wow. I didn't...I didn't know that." Sayaka is clearly surprised at this.

We need these moments of brief comedy and hope to show that there still might be a chance for Chiaki to pull herself together and live a better life, that way it's all the more depressing when it all comes tumbling down.

Really? Now it's your turn to be surprised. You thought that they'd be the first to find out about them, seeing as she's obviously shacking up with Kyoko.

"W-what? N-no, we don't..." Sayaka's confusion easily gives way to indignation, and then to anger. "We do it normally, Murderface! NORMAL! We don't...we don't experiment or anything! And we're just fine with that! N-not that it's any of your fucking business--"

You tell her to calm down, while trying to stifle laughter. Any other time, you'd be returning Sayaka's epithets with some of your own, but this is just hilarious. You manage to get another sip of your soda before telling the flustered girl at the other end of the line that you didn't mean anything by the comment, and that you're sure she'll know what to do with the information you just gave her.

"...Whatever, Murderface. I hope your plane crashes." A moment of silence. "Bring Kyoko something nice, alright? No booze. One of those furry hats with the red star on the front. She likes that kind of stuff."

You manage a smirk before telling her goodbye.

"Yeah. See you. Don't hurry back."

The call ends, and you give a small sigh as you finally put the phone back down on the counter. Talking to Sayaka always tires you out, somehow. There's no middle ground to the girl - one moment she's agreeable, the next she's your worst enemy. It's so that even Kyoko, who's supposed to be the more hot-tempered of the two, is actually the reasonable one.

Being in a relationship probably does that to people, you decide. Changes them until you can't recognize them anymore.

You're not too sure if you want that.

What do you do?

[]Wait for your flight to be called in. You probably should give your phone a rest.
[]Get away from the bar and walk around. You've got time to kill, anyway.

I cann see the future, friend. Midori will fall to Faust. After killing a magical girl under her influence before, it would be easy, right? No. Because we will have bonded with Midori by this time. But Deculture will give us the option to end her anyway. But there will also be []other. And we will take her soul gem, raise it to our lips, and orgasm-shock the poor chick right out of Faust's hands.

You decide to step away from the bar. You leave enough money for the entire bottle of whiskey plus a hefty tip, before you slip off of the bar stool and get back on your feet carefully. You're still a bit buzzed from all the drinking, but getting up and moving about should help getting rid of the unsteadiness. If anything, it'd get the alcohol out of your bloodstream much more quickly.

You make your way towards the airport's souvenir shops. Some reading material would be nice - you're curious as to how the media would actually report what happened in the mansion. You don't pay attention much to the news on TV anymore - it's easy enough for anyone with enough money to get specific news bits to be omitted or censored completely. Newspapers, on the other hand, are a bit harder to buy out.

You reach the row of souvenir shops before too long, and without bumping or falling into anyone, too. You'd give yourself a pat on the back for that, but instead you go to the souvenir shop with a news stand and pay for a newspaper. You unfold it after you get your change, peering down at the rather lurid headlines.

The pictures are decidedly gory, with full-color photos of the pile of bodies you yourself created in that ballroom hall. The eyes of the corpses, funnily enough, are concealed by black bars, and the really gruesome bits ran through a mosaic filter. Typical sensationalist stuff. You skim through the article quickly - there's no mention of anything about Kilgore, his concubines, or the operators he hired. Certainly nothing about a maid, her butler friend, her pet armored giant, and the eleven-foot tall monster they nearly tore down the mansion in trying to waste.

That's...as close as you'll get to seeing an assignment being reported. No one can make something like that disappear like Kyuubey - for all you know he sent his Culexus squad to wipe a few minds clean of what they saw that night, the poor bastards. You've heard that some of them actually have enough mastery over their abilities that they can affect human minds, too, not just Magical Girls.

You look through the other pages. Nothing else much of note, and you fold the broadsheet a few times and tuck it under your arm.

You should probably get your host something from Japan. It's only proper, after all. Might want to get Misaka's brother something, too.

You glance down at the row of shops.

i don't think we could go wrong with adult doujin (are those shops normal on airfields?) i imagine Siberia to be quite lonely but i don't know a damn thing about what its like up there.
Snacks are a good bet because surely they don't have the same stuff as us out there.
